anyways here’s what i noticed about colors in 500 days of summer

the way whole of Tom’s world is brown, warm, beautiful, old - it’s clear his view of things is romanticized, he loves niche things, takes pride in it and. um the way summer waltzes in with her blue, her eyes, her clothes, her life. like okay. and god. and every single time.

and oh oh my god when they’re showing the last few days of summer the little illustration is cold, blue. and the one who’s keeping him grounded to reality is his little sister - always in colors of orange, directly opposite to that of summer. AND the way as soon as summer leaves, everything in Tom’s life is blue. but it’s this realization that his expectations - that life is not peachy - about love aren’t going to come to fruition ???? and he comes up a blank when asked about it ????

it’s this blue that leads to him quitting his job, that though this love was fleeting and hey that is okay and that it was what lead him back to what he truly wanted to do. that this blue in his life hurt but it changed him

and as for summer, the way they both begin as summer believing in no such thing as love and Tom being the romantic that he is, believing in fate, destiny, etc….. and how it switches at the end………..and uhm. yeah. wow.

they fumbled so badly w wish i don’t even want to fucking talk abt it. seeing nimona (project that was originally gonna be scrapped and went to another studio) and boy and the heron (2d style animation that disney does not do anymore due to “minimal range for intended audience”) get nominated instead of wish made me grin wickedly. fuck disney. i mean it.

am i tripping or is x3 relatively way better than dark phoenix like,,, obviously the second half of x3's plot is atrociously wrong (apart from when erik keeps bringing up charles) but the initial set up and premise feel less flat than dark phoenix with more things going on than just jean/phoenix and erik and the brotherhood don't feel as shoehorned?

i fear i feel you ..... however ive always held the belief X3 wasnt a terrible movie on the sole basis hank was there and the movie started with old man bickering while adopting their daughter so this aint a shocking opinion to meee

someday people will learn to spot the difference between someone who likes to feel "better" than everyone else by mentioning what "highbrow tastes" they have in media, vs someone who just has some uncommon tastes and is trying to introduce you to blorbo from their shows. casablanca and shakespear are still around because some people like them, actually

its unfortunate, then, that some styles arent as lucrative as marvels style. the age of everyone being able to see anyone bitching about things best discussed amongst a select few in their in-group (i cant really post about how much i hated such-and-such media, because people who love it might see it and feel bad) has made it more or less impossible to discuss a hatred of the most popular style without hurting anyones feelings. and i do hate it. and its success has changed how people make movies now. and i am mad. but most of all, i wish i could bitch about it without making the people who genuinely like it sad

theyre still making marvel-likes because people like marvel, and they dont make akira-likes because not enough people like akira. please watch akira. its good. you might like it. if you like akira and other cyberpunk shit please talk to me about blorbo from my "old" non-english movie

now that i have rereread iwtv i realize that rolins is godsent wallahi this show would be doa if we got a one to one straight adaptation and not because of any content issues or the moral constitution of a modern audience but because that shit would have been boring as hell. like change the channel, scroll thru twitter diy lobotomy sesh boring. love the book, truly a formative masterpiece but if i had to sit through it in visual format id kill myself

close encounters of the third kind is an objectively good movie, but it feels sorta tragic. and i doubt thet was the intention lol. love the cinematography, love the music score, love the visual effects. that's all fun and good. but where everyone else seems to see a movie full of "wonder", it just makes me feel sad. the movie ends the way it does and it leaves me feeling bummed the fuck out.

Also probably The Holiday. Guilty pleasures and all but also I'm someone who hates rom-coms usually but the holiday is genuinely good and intellectual. oh also some like it hot (and I will stop there because if I go any further I will just start listing off movies I like and they will become more dark and grim and I will not be able to stop because there are so many movies out there that I love that may even be horrific but the elation I feel watching all sorts of shit that stimulates the mind?? that's what feels good to me)... ok Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away too there I'm done.

12. how are you? Well.. better than yesterday for sure. I was having a regular catastrophic morb there for a second but I took it easier today and with any luck I'll have an even better day tomorrow and everything will be grand! who knows maybe I'll make some more material progress in the first chapter of One Warm Line.

26. what movie would you want to live in? Ok I know I've already said in previous asks P&P 2005 but I also think living in a ghibli movie of any sort would be kindof neat

I've never heard of emts working only at events? What's that like for you if you don't mind my asking?

Yeah, there are ambulance companies that staff certain events, but there's some event specific companies out there lmao. For me specifically, it's almost entirely college events, whether it's happening on a campus or not. It's not great, usually pretty boring, but it's better than being on an ambulance or in a hospital. We do get actual emergencies sometimes, but usually it's just getting drunk people to the tent or giving out water and bandaids lmao. Again, boring as fuck, but I chose this over working on a 911 rig, so that's on me 😔 if I'm being so real tho, other than my coworkers, the best part of the job is the food lmaoooo it's so good and all the food trucks/food booths give discounts or free food to us depending on the location and event. And there's almost always a ton of downtime, so I basically just get paid to sit there and vibe for the most part
