do you have any fluffy drabbles to post 👀 i’m craving some fluff
i think i know who asked this LOL but i do have something that i wrote up, i wasn't going to post it but since you asked 👀
“Hey just got back.” You slide off your shoes, setting your bag down on the side table next to your front door. Walking further into the living room you round the couch.
“You’re a little late.” He gives you a pointed stare, not serious but just the slightest bit displeased.
You lean in toward him, eyes wrinkling at the reading glasses he wears.
“Mhm-“ Peck
“Told you I’d be late-“ Peck
“before leaving-“ Peck
“so you wouldn’t worry” Peck
“M’always worrying.” He pulls you in by the collar of your shirt.
“I know.” You give him that look.
The look that Simon thinks is between adoration and understanding, you’d always had the uncanny ability to simply know when it came to him. He's not sure how you do it.
You give him one final quick kiss, before standing.
“What are you thinking for dinner?” You call out while walking into the kitchen.
“Dunno, s’up to you.” He goes back to whatever random book he’s picked up today.
“I don’t feel like picking.” You browse the cupboards searching for something.
You open the fridge, take a look, and close it with a sigh, continuing your scavenging, brows furrowed in the lightly frustrated way Simon loves.
“Which is why-“ He stands from where he is on the couch, walking toward you, into the kitchen.
“I went out and,” He grabs a hold of your waist, stretching over you to open the highest cupboard, the one that you don’t think you’ve ever opened or will open.
“Got this.” He holds a a white plastic bag stuffed with takeout boxes and from the smell alone, you recognize it to be your favorite takeout spot from across town.
“You said you didn’t know what to get!” Your face beaming with a smile Simon could only compare to the sun.
“Mhm, I know, if I said I’d already gotten something you’d be cross you weren’t involved in the decision, but also knew if I didn’t have something you’d be cross and hungry.” He leans in, bowing his head to kiss you.
“You know me freakishly well.” Your face bears a content smile.
And he makes a noise of approval.
You both walk toward your kitchen table with you tucked under his arm. Both wondering how you ever got so lucky.

reaching out to a RP partner from like 10 years ago because to this day i occasionally fondly remember the brief time we RPd together and i haven't found anyone else quite like them ever again. like, their writing and the research they clearly put into every single of their replies was INCREDIBLE, breathtaking, inspiring, and i hope they'll be willing to give it another go. even if its like 10 years later. wish me luck
#i feel like i'm in a romantic movie/book reaching out to an old summer fling after a series of failing relationships#except it's about the disappointing ordeal of seeking RP/writing partners and forever lamenting the one that i let get away#because it was ME who ghosted them bc i was too proud to admit i had a writers block#and didnt consider asking them for help on how to overcome it#but i was young and sad back then so i'm forgiven#jebiga - as one would say in my mother tongue#lu screams

fanfic rambling in the tags, nothing interesting really, just me talking to myself lol, okay to ignore or read as you please ✨
#so i've found the perfect prompt list for an olli/allu fic advent calendar sorta thing#but i'm too intimidated by my own expectations and ridiculously high standards to even start writing any of them 😭#honestly these prompts are so insanely cute and fit olli/allu PERFECTLY#like. i'm actually having trouble deciding which ones to use because i want to write them all 🥺💞#but i'm so so scared that i'll just end up writing the same (boring) story over again for 24 times 😔#i wish i could just write without thinking and trying so hard to write a literary masterpiece#when i KNOW it's alright if it's just a silly little story about my blorbos#that's perfectly enough and i know this but my brain's just not having it 😩#also if i were to write 24 independent fics i'd have to keep them short and simple but. that's not how i do fics. unfortunately (for me)#to overcome this i guess one option would be to write just one longer piece with 24 chapters#and somehow try to include the prompt of the day in each chapter 🤔#but i don't want to make this even more complicated to myself lol especially because i'm planning to write AUs for a couple of the prompts#i REALLY want to do prompts (of any kind!!) but i'm just so scared of stressing myself out to another months-long writer's block 😭#fair enough the last time that happened (last winter/spring) i was in a shitty place mentally anyway#and so far i've been happy to be writing on random bursts of inspiration. that's how it's the easiest for me. the words just...flow out#i'm so insanely jealous of anyone who can just create stuff when given any prompt 😭#y'all are super humans to me how do you do it pls spill your secrets#and anyone tempted to comfort me by saying i shouldn't stress myself over this and that i don't have to write anything i don't wanna write:#i knoooooowwww and i appreactiate the sentiment but the thing is i actually DO want to write these prompts 😭#in theory at least. because they really are cute as fuck wth 🥺#the problem is that i can't /force/ myself to write something at the snap of my fingers without a clear idea besides the prompt#and also because i know it can take me days to finish even one story let alone 24 💀#so to even START on this project is a little intimidating 🫣#i just fear i won't have the patience :(#and when i realise i won't be able to finish the project i'll become frustrated with myself#if only i knew how to write shorter one-scenes in order to not tire myself out#but often i find those kind of fics somehow...unsatisfying :(#i'm just a sucker for crafting the context/background for stories. a little flesh around the bones if you will 🤧#okay that's all now i'm gonna go stare at a wall while doing nothing useful for the rest of the weekend byeeee#if you read this far i hope you're having a nice saturday

Make Creative Blocks Work For You
As someone who struggles frequently with procrastination and perfectionism, let me tell you from experience that there is no one true way to overcome a creative block, particularly not how to overcome a writer's block.
Procrastination and creative blocks are Hounds that those who seek to join a creative field know all too well. It’s a running joke among creatives, “Haha I should be writing right now but I am doing literally anything else!” Honestly, the most relatable thing in the first season of You is the sequence of Beck alternating between trying to write, random googling, Yoga and fiddling with every…

hnnnnnng the fact that Carlos has been trained in gun safety for years, that he's been told "don't put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to fire" until it's second nature to him, that we only really see him with his finger on the trigger of a service weapon like half a second before he does fire it even when all his coworkers have had their fingers on triggers for seconds or minutes, that when he confronted the guy he thought killed his dad he had his finger on the trigger of that pistol the moment he took it out of his belt - maybe even the moment he stepped into the driveway - and he didn't remove it when Owen came running up or when he started to have doubts - not until it was completely clear the guy was 100% innocent (or until someone took it out of his hand, I need to rewatch the whole episode again instead of just clips)
it keeps me awake at night yk?
#/incoherent noises/#panther watches lone star#911 lone star s4#911ls#911 carlos#911 ls spoilers#gun safety#anyways we talk about how deranged with grief he was#but it takes a lot to overcome that kind of relentless training#he was 100% ready to kill that guy and he 100% knew what he was doing#he didnt make a mistake he made a choice to be the darkest version of himself using his grief as justification#and we should all be grateful that the darkest version of someone is so rarely who they really are#and that the writers chose to stop him and bring him back to his usual self because he would not have come back from that#i dont think he wouldve done it again but having done it once wouldve absolutely shattered him#non latinos dont be dicks on my post you're allowed to have opinions but being bigoted or fake woke will get you equally blocked

Related to the notes I left in my last rb, at the moment I'm cooking.
Okay, not reallt cooking... there's a little cog in the back of my head that is starting to turn, but I don't know if I'll end up really writing something.
The idea of turning my abandoned sci-fi into something more like an atlas on an encyclopedia feels a nice way to not trash that project that is old as balls with never an end in sight, only continuous rewriting that did it no good.
But, honestly, I have no damn clue on how to set up something like that. Like- should I just go "this chapter will talk only about this planet/that other will be on this other topic"? Should I grab my spelunking gear and climb back down into the woldbuilding rabbit hole I was falling in last time I worked on this story?
Should I attempt instead at working on different stories related to the various places I was creating and not dwelve more into the encyclopedia/atlas part?
A little part of my mind is thinking about something like "one of those 'lonely planet' travel guides describing a bit the various planets or cities or whatever, and a traveller scribbling notes/commenting on it" but probably it's too visual to get around only in writing... But a thing like this would've been nice, maybe adding some random scraps like photos or cut out magazine articles (but in the far future i was working on there will still be paper media?? idk never thought about that tbh)
And... idk. Just throwing this to the void, hoping that the little cog in the back of my mind will finally decide what to do with this thing.
#corvo talks#trying to overcome writer's block is always awful#also bc i think i burned myself out the last times i tried to 'force' myself to complete any attempt at a novel i started#anyway i like this concept but idk how i can make this work

I fucking hate this fucking confession with a fucking passion
Transcript: Hello, I am the "I use AI to write my PRIVATE Undertale fanfics" person
Mod, I am so sorry for hiding inside your inbox for replying to other people's reblogs, I really am, this is surely going to be my last confession about this topic.
People misunderstood my confession. I said it was fine to USE AI as a tool, not rely on it. Like.... this feeling of writer's block where you need to communicate with someone to write something. Like a roleplay. I was an rper so I kind of need a feeling of collaboration to progress.
I write a lot without AI. I just use it for fun SOMETIMES.
It's fine. to use it for your OWN entertainment. I DID say AI fanfics are soulless?? Usually you get inspiration from other sources, like music, or manga, or literally anything else that isn't AI, AI won't give you anything original.
I just wrote that confession because people don't take this topic with nuance. You seriously going to bully a kid for using chatgpt to write their fanfics the same way people used to bully kids who traced art? That happened before and it's ridiculous. At least get your point of view across without attacking or being rude about it
I'm not pro-AI, I don't write my main and ambitious Undertale fics with AI, and for the people who are saying it's bad for the environment... i need to do proper research on it and if it's right, i'm going to do my best to avoid supporting AI (it's already bad enough that it steals other people's works without their consent, I already don't put a cent in supporting that). That's it. No need to be so aggressive
[Note for mod: I'm so sorry that this is barely Undertale-related. If I don't see this get uploaded on your blog, I'll understand, it just fuels the drama. Just frustrated that I got misunderstood and dunked on so much, and got too scared to reply under my own name. Hope you understand as well, wherever your stance on the topic is]
#“i don't support ai” >>> proceeds to defend ai#i did not spend the rest of my high school battling writer's block then overcoming it ON MY OWN just for someone to say#ai helps them with their writers block#THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS TO GET PAST IT WITHOUT RELYING ON FUCKING AI#SO MANY FANFICS FANARTS FAN MUSIC AND LITERALLY PROMPTS OUT THERE#HOW ABOUT YOU TAKE SOME INSPIRATION ON THAT ONE INSTEAD OF LETTING AN AI DECIDE THINGS FOR YOU

Why Writers Don't Finish Writing Their Stories, and How to Fix It
Hello fellow writers and storytellers,
The journey of writing a story is an exhilarating adventure, but it's not without its share of obstacles. Many of us have embarked on a creative endeavor, only to find ourselves mired in the struggle to finish what we started. In this blog post, I'll unravel the common reasons why writers don't finish their stories and explore practical strategies to overcome these hurdles and reignite the flame of creativity.
The Perils of Unfinished Stories
As writers, we often find ourselves in the throes of unfinished tales, grappling with the intricate web of characters, plots, and themes. There are several reasons why the ink dries up and the story remains untold. Let's shine a light on the familiar adversaries that stand between us and the triumphant completion of our narratives:
1. Lack of Planning:
Some of us brazenly dive into our stories without a clear roadmap, resulting in uncertainty about the direction of the plot and the fate of our characters. The lack of a solid plan can lead us astray, leaving our stories wandering in the wilderness of aimlessness.
2. Self-Doubt and Perfectionism:
Ah, the relentless whispers of self-doubt and the siren call of perfectionism! These twin adversaries can cast a shadow over our creative vision, compelling us to endlessly revise and perfect the early chapters, trapping us in a whirlpool of perpetual edits.
3. Time Management:
Balancing the demands of daily life with the ardor of writing can be akin to walking a tightrope. The struggle to find consistent time for our craft often leaves our stories languishing in prolonged periods of inactivity, longing for the touch of our pen.
4. Writer's Block:
The mighty barrier that even the most intrepid writers encounter. Writer's block can be an insurmountable mountain, leaving us stranded in the valleys of creative drought, unable to breathe life into new ideas and narratives.
5. Lack of Motivation:
The flame that once burned brightly can flicker and wane over time, leaving us adrift in the murky waters of disillusionment. The initial excitement for our stories diminishes, making it arduous to stay committed to the crafting process.
6. Fear of Failure or Success:
The twin specters that haunt many writers' dreams. The apprehension of rejection and the unsettling prospect of life-altering success can tether us to the shores of hesitation, preventing us from reaching the shores of completion.
7. Criticism and Feedback Anxiety:
The looming dread of judgment casts a long shadow over our creative endeavors. The mere thought of receiving criticism or feedback, whether from peers or potential readers, can cast a cloud over our storytelling pursuits.
8. Plotting Challenges:
Crafting a cohesive and engaging plot is akin to navigating a labyrinth without a map. Faced with hurdles in connecting story elements, we may find ourselves lost in a maze of plot holes and unresolved threads.
9. Character Development Struggles:
Breathing life into multi-dimensional, relatable characters is a complex art. The intricate process of character development can become a quagmire, ensnaring us in the challenge of creating personas that drive the story forward. (Part one of Character Development Series)
10. Life Events and Distractions:
Unexpected events in our personal lives can cast ripples on our writing routines, interrupting the flow of our creativity and causing a loss of momentum.
Rallying Against the Odds: Strategies for Success
Now that we've confronted the adversaries that threaten to stall our storytelling odysseys, let's arm ourselves with strategies to conquer these barriers and reignite the flames of our creativity.
Embrace the Power of Planning:
A clear roadmap illuminates the path ahead. Arm yourself with outlines, character sketches, and plot maps to pave the way for your story's journey.
Vanquish Self-Doubt with Action:
Silence the voices of doubt with the power of progress. Embrace the imperfect beauty of your early drafts, knowing that every word brings you closer to the finish line.
Mastering the Art of Time:
Carve out sacred writing time in your schedule. Whether it’s ten minutes or two hours, every moment dedicated to your craft is a step forward.
Conquering Writer's Block:
Embrace the freedom of imperfection. Write, even if the words feel like scattered puzzle pieces. The act of writing can unravel the most stubborn knots of writer's block.
Reigniting the Flame of Motivation:
Seek inspiration in the wonders of the world. Reconnect with the heart of your story, rediscovering the passion that set your creative spirit ablaze.
Reshaping Fear into Fuel:
Embrace the uncertainty as an integral part of the creative journey. Embrace the lessons within rejection and prepare for the winds of change that success may bring.
Navigating the Realm of Criticism:
Embrace feedback as a catalyst for growth. Constructive criticism is a powerful ally, shaping your story into a work of art that resonates with readers.
Weaving the Threads of Plot:
Connect the dots with fresh eyes. Step back and survey the tapestry of your plot, seeking innovative solutions to bridge the gaps and untangle the knots.
Breathing Life into Characters:
Engage with your characters as if they were old friends. Dive into their depths, unraveling their quirks, fears, and dreams, and watch as they breathe life into your story.
Navigating Life's Tempests:
Embrace the ebb and flow of life. Every pause in your writing journey is a chance to gather new experiences and perspectives, enriching your storytelling tapestry.
The Ever-Resting Pen: Harnessing the Power Within
Fellow writers, the journey of completing a story is filled with peaks and valleys, each offering us the opportunity to sharpen our resolve and unleash our creative potential. As we stand at the crossroads, staring at the canvas of unfinished tales, let's rally against the odds, armed with the power of purpose, passion, and perseverance.
Let the ink flow once more, breathing life into tales left untold, and watch as your stories triumphantly reach their long-awaited conclusion. You possess the power to conquer the adversaries that stand in your way, and within you lies the essence of untold narratives waiting to unfurl onto the page.
Here's to the journey that lies ahead, the stories waiting to be written, and the unyielding spirit of creativity that thrives within each of us.
Warm regards and unwavering encouragement, Ren T.
