1,2,3 Action!
Paring: Jenna Ortega x Female Reader
Summary: Your an actor playing in a movie(Miller’s Girl). You’re really proud that you were able to get a role in the movie. But there is a con to that. Jenna Marie Ortega.
Warning: Profanity, Jealousy & Toxic behavior
Authors Note: This is like rivals to lovers, type of relationship between Reader and Jenna..I have no idea if I worded that right.
Tumblr media
“This cannot possibly be happening to me right now,” You say to yourself as you saw the email on your phone, announcing who you would be working with.
After weeks of waiting, you finally landed yourself a role in an upcoming movie called, “Miller’s Girl.”
You’ve been acting ever since you were a kid so playing in a show or a movie was no big deal for you. There was just one thing getting in your way, well person.
Jenna Ortega.
Ever since your first acting job on “Stuck in the Middle”, you’ve been jealous of her. Even though you were a side character in the show you envied her so much.
You just couldn’t let go of that feeling. She was perfect in your eyes, and that pissed you off as a kid. Even as an adult it still does.
But hell, she probably doesn’t even remember you.
So now learning that you’re going to be working together again is very hard to comprehend. You already booked your flight to where the movie was being filmed. Which your flight is in a couple weeks, and it is way too late to turn this job down.
You get off your bed and go to the bathroom to get your day started. You took a deep breath in and exhaled.
“It’s alright, Y/N. It’s been years who even cares about it anymore!?” You said out loud, as you grabbed your toothpaste and toothbrush. That was mostly you trying to convince yourself that this wasn’t a big deal to you.
“I mean it’s not like I spent my first acting job as a kid obsessing over her.”
As you kept on talking assuring yourself, It was pretty obvious to see that you were absolutely in denial.
Eventually you stopped brushing your teeth and overthinking.
There’s going to be cons and pros of being an actor. I mean after all you did choose this job.
You shouldn’t be stressing over someone who doesn’t even remember you, but yet you still did. You went ahead and carried on with the rest of your day like usual.
Some weeks pass by, quickly, and unfortunately for you, your flight is tomorrow.
Your things are packed, and your set to go to sleep. You can’t really describe how you feel right at the moment, but you knew you had to get over it, and just do your job.
Currently all you know about the role you’re playing is that you’re supposedly friends with a character named, “Winnie Black”. You have no complaints about it since it was played by your coworker you haven’t met before.
Hopefully you can get along with all the people you’re working with. Expect one. You wouldn’t bother trying to befriend her.
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
The day of your flight, you were already driving to the airport. If it wasn’t for your alarm you most definitely would’ve still been sleeping. Luckily the airport wasn’t so far from your home, so you were able to get there early with many spare time.
So of course you get some food and some souvenirs. Good thing that you’re not that popular as other actors you’ve seen. While you got done collecting you waited for your flight. Although you got to the airport early, it wasn’t long until it came.
It was about an 6 hour plane ride to where the movie was going to be filmed. After the 6 hours plane the plane landed. You ordered and Uber to take you to your hotel you’ll be staying at before you do anything else.
When you got to your hotel you contacted your manager before heading out again.
when arriving to the building, where the movie was going to take place. You weren’t the first of the cast members to get there but certainly not the last one too.
You could already see Jenna socializing along side with your other coworker, Gideon Adlon(Whinnie Black). Jenna looked way different from the last time you saw her in person
The older actors, Bashir Salahuddin(Coach Fillmore), Martin Freeman(Jonathan miller), Dagmara Dominczyk(Beatrice Miller), were also talking, which was expected.
Before going up to any of the cast you met up with Jade Barret,(the writer and director of millers girl) and then the producers.
After you met with them you saw Jenna and Gideon walking up to you. You saw the slight smile on Jenna’s face while she came up to you, and thought she was absolutely trying to get on your nerves.
“Hi, It’s nice to finally meet you! You must be Y/N, right?” Jenna spoke. Her voice sounded entirely different. Predictable, considering she was 12 when you first met with her in person.
“Yep. Also, save your introduction. I already know who you are,” You said so straight forwardly. That may had came out in a rude manner, but you weren’t so worried about that.
There was some awkward silence between you two before your coworker, Gideon spoke up.
“Well I’m pretty sure you don’t know me. I’m Gideon.”
“Nice to meet you, Gideon. Also sorry, I gotta cut this conversation short, because I have to call someone I’ll be right back.”
What a lie. You knew you didn’t have to call someone. So you stood outside the room pretending to call a person just so you can get away from them.
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
Meanwhile with Jenna and Gideon, Jenna was still in quite an interesting state after you talked to her like that.
“I didn’t say or do anything wrong to her. Well at least I think I didn’t? I just don’t understand why she talked to me in that way.”
“Dont overthink it, Jen. She’s probably having a bad day or not in the mood. After all most of us are tired.”
Jenna couldn’t shake off the feeling that you had something against her, but for the sake of her peace, she let it go.
You came back into the room and when you did you were all given a script of lines you should memorize before they start shooting.
So, you playing as Whinnie Black’s best friend obviously means you have to communicate with her. So you and her went on set, and did your parts.
Of course the both of you did amazing, so Jade barret concluded that to you two. When she did slight smile appeared on your face, a little bit proud of yourself.
That smile immediately went away when you heard Jenna call your name.
“Y/N you did great,” The Ortega said only trying to ease the tension between you both.
Seeing her trying to befriend you, ticked you off.
“Why can’t you just leave me the hell alone.” You didn’t say that out loud, but you definitely wish you did.
“I’m aware. I didn’t really need your input.” You avoided eye contact with her as you headed off the set.
Okay, perhaps you were being an asshole. You definitely had the right to be annoyed at her, but in the end, she didn’t do anything to you. It’s only a matter of time until you notice.
Okay so Jenna now knew that you absolutely had a problem with her, and made it quite obvious to notice.
Besides Jenna Ortega, Gideon was the only one who heard you. As any friend would do in this situation, she came up to her.
“So maybe she isn’t having a bad day, and really is just an asshole.”
Jenna sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose and shook her head for a second.
“I’m not really focused on what beef she has with me, G. I’m just worried this might affect work. As long as we get this movie done with no problems I’m fine with whatever.”
Gideon wasn’t entirely sure if Jenna was lying just to not seem hurt by your words, but in the end she was right. You guys didn’t come here to build friendships.
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
Moments later the rest of the cast got done practicing their lines. You guys still weren’t able to leave yet, because the director is still discussing things. You werent paying attention. You were about to fall asleep while leaning against a wall.
Jenna was sitting on a chair intently listening to the director, but in the corner of her eye she saw you struggling to keep your eyes open. She knew that she shouldn’t be fixating on you, but her curiosity took over her. Her full attention turned around to you, and by the looks of it, you were completely out of it.
You were on the edge of falling into a slumber, but you couldn’t help but feel like you were being watched by someone. And it turns out your feelings were correct. It didn’t take long to spot the person looking at you, and of course it had to be Jenna.
So when you fixed your posture and looked directly at her she turned her head around quickly.
“I saw you staring. You have a mouth for a reason. Go ahead and use it.” You leaned off the wall and walked towards to Jenna.
Jenna Ortega stood up from her chair, and looked up at you. You and Jenna’s eyes never left each other
“I’m sorry, but is there some type of explanation why you’re acting like this towards me or are you just a complete dick for no reason at all.”
You can’t help but roll your eyes a little at the Ortega’s words.
“I don’t know what you’re talking ab—” Jenna spent no time to cut you off.
“Bullshit. Sorry, but this is my first impression of you, and I’m not really worried if you like me or not. If this is going to be a problem while filming then spit it out already.” She said, as your coworkers attention left the director and went straight to you both. Since you guys were talking quite loudly.
“I don’t need to explain myself to you. You just have to face the fact that some people in your career are going to dislike you. And I so happen to be one of those people. I think this conversation is done here.”
You left the room once again, and took a quick breather, while sitting on the floor outside the room. You left Jenna and everyone else in the room in shock and confusion.
You certainly do wish you never had said that. You made a big deal out of nothing, but hey. Anyone else would do the same thing if they were in your shoes, right?
Instead of procrastinating you looked at the time on your phone. It was close to being midnight. You decided it would be a good idea to go back to your hotel and rest. And that’s exactly what you did.
You grabbed your things and went to the parking lot. The sun was already setting down and you just want to get back to your hotel before it turns dark. When you got in your car you wasted no time to drive off.
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
After minutes of countless driving you reached where you would be staying at. You checked into your room, and didn’t even bother to change. You flopped onto your bed with your things on the floor.
You groaned into your pillow as your eyelids were already heavy, and you soon fell asleep seconds later. Little did you know, tomorrow you would be facing a lot of backlash for what happened between you and Jenna. But that’s a concern for later. Right now all you need is a goodnight rest.

Pickle
Eddie X fem!hopper!reader
Summary : You and Eddie had been so careful, so how on earth did you end up with a positive pregnancy test?
Word count : 2.9k
Tumblr media
Warnings : Teen pregnancy, pregnancy in general, vomiting, talks of abortion, pregnancy fears, birth, probably incorrect medical talk, sweating, brief mentions of sex, minute angst, MAJOR fluff, dad eddie, use of Y/N, use of petnames, not proofread and wrote at 4am.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
You were fucked. Absolutely fucked. It was normal to sometimes have a late period or even miss it, due to stress, you could be anaemic, things like that happened to a lot of people.
But this was something else. After vomiting a few times you decided you’d rather be safe and just check. With a positive test in hand, you almost screamed and said every foul word that came to mind.
What were you going to do? You’d been so safe, how did this even happen. Sitting down on the closed lid of the toilet you sighed. Ultimately you got keep it or get rid of it.
You were 19 years old, you didn’t know what to do. What would people think? What would Eddie, you ever so sweet boyfriend, think? Your dad? Your sister? Oh god you were going to vomit again.
A sharp knock on the door cut that idea short, “Babe, you okay? You’ve been in there a while?” Eddie spoke to you.
“Uh .. Y-yeah, I’ll just be a minute Eds.”
“Okay babe, hurry though, dinners getting cold.”
Shoving the test into a draw, you ran your hands under some cold water, splashing your face. You were pregnant. And now you had to decide what to do.
Walking out into the lounge you found Eddie stretched out comfortably on the sofa, dressed in a wore metallic tee and some sweats. Pizza boxes lay on the table, you thought you’d have a cosy, stay at home date night.
Sitting next to him, you smiled. “Tuck in babe, it’s so good,” he said, taking another slice of pizza. Taking one for you self, you munched happily, that was until you reached a piece of pepperoni.
You heaved and dropped the food, running to the bathroom, slamming the door behind you. “Baby!” Eddie shouted in alarm, getting up quickly, following you. “Hey you okay?” he asked, carefully rubbing your back, and pulling falling strands of hair back.
“Yeah I’m okay. Sorry Eds.”
“It’s okay, let’s get you in to bed.”
“Just let me brush my teeth first,” he hummed and helped you up off the floor, flushing the toilet whilst you put toothpaste on the brush.
Helping you to bed, Eddie couldn’t help but be concerned, you hadn’t been yourself for a few days now. “I’m going to get you some water and a cold compress for you head, you look flushed. Get some pyjamas on okay?”
“Mhm, okay,” you mumbled to him as he left the room. Your body felt heavy and horrible.. You were so annoyed, you’d be looking forward to this pizza all day, and this little parasite just says no I don’t want that. How fucking rude.
A few minutes later you were lay in bed, under a blanket, eyes closed, trying to keep the nausea at bay. “Hey Sweetheart I’m back.” Eddie came and sat next to you, “Drink some of this.” He passed you the glass of water.
Taking a few slow slips, you felt the cold liquid soothe you straight away. “Rest you head baby,” he said, putting the cold compress on your forehead. “How you feeling?”
“Better now.”
“Good I’m glad.”
“I don’t know what’s happening to me.”
“Might be something to do with this,” you opened your eyes, to see the test in his hand.
“Shit Eds.”
“Hm. I’m assuming that’s what you were doing in the bathroom?” You nodded slowly.
“So um … what are you gonna do?” he asked.
“Well it’s up to both of us.”
“Not really. You’ll be carrying it, you have to deal with stuff like this. It’s up to you babe, no matter what you choose I’ll be right here,” he said softly, brushing your hair off the washcloth.
“I don’t know what to do. We’re basically kids ourselves Eds, we haven’t got a home, I’m only in my second year at college, we don’t have money. God Eddie I don’t know what to do. We were so careful!”
“I know Sweetheart, I know. It’s okay. How about we just think about it for a few days? I’ll call a doctor and get an appointment booked okay, we have time. Sound good.”
“Yeah. Thanks Eds.”
“Don’t need to thank me, this is basically my fault,” he chuckled.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
Sat in the doctors office, you leg was bouncing, anxiety filling your veins. Eddie squeezed your hand softly, in a comforting manner. “It’ll be okay Sweetheart, no matter what happens. You got this, and I’ve got you.”
“Y/L/N,” you heard a voice call, standing up you saw a woman on the shorter side, a soft smile on her face, dark hair flecked with grey. “If you’d like to come in,” she said, motioning into the room behind her.
Eddie squeezed your hand again, and the pair of you entered. Shutting the door behind her, she began talking, “So you had a positive pregnancy test?”
“Yes, three days ago.”
“Well okay then, it’s very rare to get a false positive, but we will know for sure today. I’m going to have to run some bloods and a urine sample. Find out how far along you are,” she said softly, obviously noticing you weren’t as thrilled as you assumed most women expecting a child are.
“It’s okay to be worried, both of you. You’re young. Once we find out everything we need to know, I’ll give you some leaflets for different things. For if you decide to carry on with the pregnancy, or go down the other path. Either one is fine and completely your choice.”
The pair of you nodded at her, “Okay so I’ll take your bloods first if that’s okay?” You slid off your jacket and rolled up one of your sleeves, soon enough she had what she needed and was passing you a small bottle.
In the bathroom you sighed, this was really happening. You knew you wanted kids, and kids with Eddie for sure. You just didn’t expect it so soon, and she was right, you had other options. But what if you wanted this kid, you knew this child would be loved.
Even if your dad would be royally pissed off for a while, he’d love the kid. You had Wayne, El, all the kids, Joyce, Nancy, Steve, Robin. And most importantly, you had Eddie, you knew this child would be loved by him. By you.
Maybe love was enough.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
Lay on a bed with your shirt pulled up just under your breasts. You inhaled sharply as cold gel was put on your growing bump. “Sorry sweetie,” the nurse chuckled.
Soon enough a small image appeared on screen. Your little pickle, or so Eddie had been calling them as that’s been your main craving for the past 20 weeks.
He smiled softly, squeezing your hand, unable to take his eyes off the screen. “Baby’s looking very good. Nice and healthy. Here is their head,” The nurse said, pointing out little parts of your baby.
“So one of my biggest questions for you today is, would you like to find out what you’re having?” she asked. You and Eddie didn’t really mind, you’d loved them no matter what, but you both knew you were too impatient to wait.
“Yes please.”
“Okay then, let’s see,” moving the probe around your bump. “Ah here we are, they’re very compliant,” she complimented, “Most little ones like to hide away at this point, make it difficult for me to find out.”
You and Eddie let out a laugh at that, this whole experience so far has been incredible. Minus the vomiting and feeling tired. Feeling your baby kick for the first time had been surreal.
“Okay so, you’re having a very happy and healthy baby girl. Congratulations.” You looked at Eddie, his eyes glassy, “Our little pickle is a little lady,” his voice broke.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
“Eds go, have fun. We both need a night with our friends.”
“Yes I know I know, but you’re just so close to having our pickle. I get worried if you go and pee alone.”
You laughed, “I did realise that.” Running your hands in his curls, you smiled. “We’ll be fine, and if anything happens, I’ll get the girls to call okay?”
“Okay.”
He kissed your bump and then your forehead. “I love you.”
“We love you too.”
Soon enough Eddie had left, and Max, Nancy, Robin and El had appeared. You’d wanted a girly night, kind of like a relaxed baby shower. “I can’t believe I’ll be an auntie soon,” El clapped her hands together.
“You’ll be the best auntie,” you smiled, hand on your very large bump. You were due in a few weeks and boy were you ready. Swollen breast, feet, aching back, stretched skin. You’d forced Eddie to stand and lift your stomach for a good few minutes a few days back just to help your spine.
Your little one had also taken a liking to kicking your bladder. Sitting besides Nancy, you picked at some potato chips, humming at the salty flavour.
“Thank you guys for coming, this feels like the first normal night I’ve had in like … 8 months.”
“Of course, and I brought movies,” Robin said, pulling a selection out of her bag.
“So are you prepared for this little lady making her appearance?” Nancy asked, motioning to your tummy. “I think so. We’ve had the bag packed for like a week, but I don’t think we’ll really know until she’s here.”
“I’m excited. When she’s big enough can I teach her to skate?”
“Course Max, I was hoping you would.” The red head hummed in contentment, pulling a a bowl of popcorn towards you and El.
A lot had changed in the last few months, Hopper and El had moved in with Joyce, leaving the cabin vacant. Bursting into tears when your dad handed you the keys, you blamed it on hormones. It’d be strange living without your dad, sister and Wayne, but they had visited regularly.
The cabin was now your home, you and Eddie painting Els old room a pale purple. A rocking chair, crib, cupboards filled with clothes and toys. Of course she’d spend the first few months in with you and Eddie.
Everyone had been so great, Steve and Jonathan had helped Eddie build the crib. Will painted the walls carefully, making it look beautiful. The other three boys, Mike, Lucas and Dustin had worked together to make a dragon mobile for above their crib.
You’d never felt so much love, Joyce had been around a lot too. Her being one of the few mothers you knew, comforting you when you were stressed and tired and laughing with you when you were happy.
Then there was El, Max, Nancy and Robin. Those girls were your saviours. Constantly keeping you company, making you smile, getting you emergency pickles at 1am.
Your dad surprisingly wasn’t annoyed at all, he was happy for you. He was over the moon, couldn’t wait to be a grandpa. Similarly to Wayne, who of course would also take that title.
And then of course there was your Eddie. He’s been your rock. When you’d cried out of discomfort, or fear or just cried for the sake of crying. When you needed, hugs or massages … or other things …
He’d been perfect. He was always perfect. He was going to be the best dad.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
“I’ll be back in a minute ladies, little miss wants me to go to the bathroom again,” you laughed, pushing up from the sofa and waddled to the bathroom.
You couldn’t wait to stop doing that, Eddie teased that you were becoming a duck. Quacking as you walked. Rubbing your stomach softly, you smiled, you couldn’t wait to meet her.
A sharp pain shot through you. “Oh fuck, ow,” you exclaimed. You looked down, that wasn’t pee.
Shit. Your waters had just broke.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
“Hello, Harrington residence,” Steve spoke.
“It’s Robin, put Eddie on.”
“Munson it’s for you.”
“Hello?”
“It’s Robin.”
“Hey Robs, what’s up?”
“Okay, so like, don’t panic or anything. Y/Ns gone into labour, Nancys driving her to the hospital right now. So you should go there. Like right now.”
“Shit!”
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
“Fuck it hurts,” you cried, clinging on to Eddies hand. “I know baby I know. But guess what, soon it’ll be all over, and you’ll be holding our little baby.”
“I don’t think I can do this Eds, ow,” you screamed as another contraction went through you. “You can. I know you can, you are the strongest girl I know. You can do this.”
“Just a few more pushes and she’ll be here,” a doctor spoke. “Hear that Sweetheart, you’re almost there. Just a few more, you squeeze me okay.”
“Okay,” you cried, gritting your teeth as you pushed again. “There we go, one more push and we’ll have her head!”
“Go on Sweetheart, big push,” Eddie said, kissing your sweaty forehead. You screamed in agony as you pushed again. The room went silent, you body felt numb. Soon a loud wail pierced the silence.
You let out a sob, she was here. Your baby girl was here.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
It was 3am and you were sat with your baby in your arms. 7 pounds exactly. Head already coated with her fathers crazy curls. Beautiful eyes.
She was now clean and wrapped up in her jammies and a blanket. Snoozing away happily, having just finished a feed from you.
After being passed for the nurses she settle quickly on your chest, not fussing much after the initial cries when she first arrived. A soft coo here and there.
The room was dark and quiet, you and Eddie just admiring her. “She’s so perfect,” he spoke softly. “Course she is, she’s ours.”
You’d had a few visitors, Eddie didn’t want to overwhelm you. So Grandpa Hop, Grandpa Wayne, Auntie El and Grandma Joyce had been in. All of them unable to stop smiling at the sight of your little family.
“I think I know what we should call her,” you said. “Hm?” Eddie questioned.
“Well you know how you called her pickle?”
“Babe we can’t call her pickle!” he laughed.
You did so too, shushing her as she whined softly at your chest’s movement. “Pepper.”
“Pepper?”
“Like picked peppers.”
“I love it.”
“Our little pickled pepper,” he smiled, kissing both of your heads softly.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
It’d been the first time you’d been away without your baby girl. It was frightening to say the least, but you and Eds were told by your family that you deserved it.
They’d paid for you to go on a weekend trip to Chicago for a getaway. It was great, you and Eddie went exploring and stayed up late. You caught up on sleep and other activities that had been hard to do whilst an inquisitive two year old was around.
You had to admit though you were both buzzing to see her. However, that excitement would have to wait for the morning, as the traffic had made you arrive after her bedtime.
Walking into your fathers home, Eddie called out quietly, “Hello?”
“Hey you two, did you have a nice time?” Joyce smiled. “It’s was great. Sorry we’re later than expected.”
“It’s fine, she’s been golden. You too deserved the break.” Soon enough Hopper appeared, a sleeping girl on his shoulder.
“Hey dad,” you smiled. He leant forward and kissed your cheek, then turned to Eddie to hand your daughter over.
“Eddie,” he smiled at the curly haired boy, whilst your own baby, with his exact hair snuggled into her dads neck. “I’ve missed her so much,” he laughed.
“She’s staying in our bed tonight, we’ve missed out on two days of cuddles,” you said. The older adults laughed, handing your her bag, and stuffed dragon. You were on your way home.
Placing her down in bed she stretched out on the large surface. She spent most nights in her own room, only joining you if she had a nightmare or there was a storm, or if mom and dad really needed a cuddle. It was one of those nights.
“I loved this weekend, but I’m so glad we’re home,” you spoke to Eddie.
“Me too, we should take her with us next time. She’d love the pizza.”
“She would, shockingly,” you thought back to your pregnancy, and how you couldn’t stomach it, but she loved it.
Similarly, even-though she was still your little pickle, she couldn’t even stand the smell of them. Laying down on the bed, Eddie pull her and you onto his chest.
She hummed, “Daddy?”
“It’s okay my love, mommy and daddy are here. Go to sleep.” She sighed, head resting comfortably over Eddies heart. Her curls tickling his nose.
You kissed him softly. “I love you Eds.”
“I love you Sweetheart.”
The three of you drifted off into a deep slumber, what a perfect little trio you were.

I've been thinking a lot more of Post-Klok Pre-Series Toki and I keep coming up with so many missing scenes on his development.
I've been really thinking on how Toki's role in the band, a lot of times, is the "younger brother" arche type, which is obvious, but there's also a lot of snippits in the show that really highlight just how ingrained it is in their mind that Toki was once a child or very young when he joined. In "Dethclown", Nathan yells at Toki to not run because it's wet (near the hot tub) when Toki goes to get the door for Rockso (also the whole, "I thought we agreed--no clowns?"/"No, we didn't agreededs on nothings. We all just yelled and then he was beaten. That was our conclusions." - Very older brother/younger brother argument) (Also, Skwisgaar telling Toki he doesnt have to overcompensate, that they'll all pay more attentions to him -- very older brother energy). In "Dethecution", Nathan tells Toki, "Toki you may clear the table when you feel it is time." How many times do you think Toki cleared the table as a kid when he was living in the apartment or wherever they stayed before Mordhaus was complete? Toki can barely cook (granted, he made chicken tenders in "Diversityklok" but this like a decade after the time we're talking about, so that doesn't count.) but the others do have a few skills. It was probably a chore of his while living with the band. In "Dethcamp", (which is arguably the most family dynamic-esque episode in the entire show) Nathan is seen picking up Toki's clothes, helping him pack for camp, gifting him something he knows Toki would like, and defending him from bullies. He also called Toki, "Little guy" when he said how much he misses him. Pickles is seen defending Toki from Skwisgaar and Murderface's bad talking, while Murderface and Skwisgaar rag on Toki because deserts always have to be made sugar free and they can't watch scary movies with him around. In the episodes where Toki gets wrapped up in Murderface's schemes, a lot of the hatred or aggravation from the other three, never seems to be on Toki, but more so Murderface. Like how parents get mad at older siblings for getting their younger siblings into stuff because they don't believe that the younger siblings would have done it by themselves. Like in "Dethsiduals", it's very clear that Toki is just along for the ride, even going against some of the things Murderface says while in court. All of this just screams that Toki is, unfortunately, still seen as this younger "child" because that's how the band first met him and treated him. Now on to the fun part!
I don't think that the band was overly parenting, they're still rockstars, they're still assholes. But this is a level of care and structure in the band that definitely shows that they did something to help Toki. Or things they they choose not to do if Toki was a minor when he joined.
For one, I've been really loving the idea that Skwisgaar had a very strict "No sex in the house if Toki is there" due to his own personal traumas with his mother. Toki did a lot of 7/11 runs with other band members or by himself if Skwisgaar brought someone home. Like, he would see Toki and a part of him yearned to be protect in the way he wishes he was protected. So, he did not have sex when Toki was at the house. Now, once he's 18, that goes out the window but Toki is now a legal adult and needs to deal with it.
I also like the idea that Toki did not understand a shower set up and was taking baths from the sink. Like, he would look at the shower knob and immediately freak out. He just wouldn't understand it. So, Pickles ends up teaching him the basics and Toki is so enthralled by it, he strips down immediately and gets in with Pickles still right there. (I see Toki as being very unashamed of nakedness) Pickles also helped him understand shampoo, conditioner, and basic hygiene using modern "gadgets" (deodorant in a stick or toothpaste from a plastic tube.) Pickles just didn't want another Murderface. 1 Murderface stank was enough for all of them.
Another idea that I'm honestly thinking about writing is Charles taking Toki to the mall to spend his first paycheck and going straight for the toys only to get overstimulated and freak out. Charles has to take Toki back to the car to calm down. When everyone comes back with their purchases, Toki is embarrassed that he didn't buy anything. On the way home, they pop a tire while getting gas, and the guys have to change it. Toki doesn't help (he has no idea) but he spots a store across the street from them and decides to go in without telling anyone. It ends up being a hobby store and a cashier spots him staring at the model plane, and starts explaining them to him. Toki has no clue what is being told to him, but likes the attitude of the man, so he buys one, plus some paints and brushes and other gear to go along with it. Charles rushes in after the purchases, slightly alarmed because Toki just disappeared. But Toki doesn't notice and is ready to go back to the car to show off his purchases. (Charles ABSOLEUTLY makes him hold his hand across the street and tells him to look both ways.)
I've also been thinking about what did Toki and Murderface's first scheme look like? Was it something really simple like Murderface using Toki to ask one of the guys if they could have Mexican instead of Chinese food tonight? Or was it something sneakier, like using Toki as a distraction to steal booze? Did Murderface teach him bad words with wrong meanings, and tell him to say them in front of the others? Did Murderface also get some hero worship from a very young Toki because he too played a guitar-like instrument? Murderface was probably a bad influence on Toki (they all were but...) with how to act in public, his view points on women and children, how to talk, how to have his form of "confidence".
Toki was probably never allowed to partake in interviews without Skwisgaar, Nathan, and Charles present. Skwisgaar to translate to Toki and Charles to make sure the questions were "within legal right to ask a minor". Nathan was there to make sure that their image was upheld and to intimidate the interviews from asking anything non-metal. But a lot of old footage of these interviews actually show Nathan doubling as a bodyguard around Toki from interviewers on his back and show him gently guiding him through crowds and away from people who keep asking odd things or just generally gave him an uncomfortable vibe. Nathan definitely has some kind of guidance/caregiving vibes when it comes to Toki. He does not do it to any other bandmember, just him.
Anyway, the band looks at Toki and they probably still see this version of Toki:

Thinking about the ideal relationship dynamic with older brother’s best friend, Eren Jaeger — your brother and Eren are off to college parties while you sulk about being left behind, and about how the world is unfair up until Eren notices and he’s like “Come on man, she’s cool. She can come.” He then looks at you with the most green you’ve seen in any eyes and asks you, “You’re cool, right?” and you don’t think anyone’s ever focused their eyes on you for that long and you smile.
You do try to play it off like it doesn’t mean anything to you, but you also start perking up, just a little, when he’s around (which you vehemently deny if confronted because that’s your brother’s loser friend. Your brother’s loser friend who voluntarily chooses to hangout with your loser brother). And you start to voluntarily put your book down / remove your headphones / turn off the tv and join in on conversations with the two. You even fake a little laugh when he says something not that funny only to find yourself banging your head against your pillow an hour later.
And eventually when you go off to college, you start finding other boys with dreamy green eyes and you think that you’ve grown out of your crush on him, because you weren’t kidding, he literally is just a loser who hangs out with your loser brother.
Except he does these little nice things for you once in awhile, like offering to pick you up at the airport when you’re back home for the holidays, offering to help you run errands that your mother has asked you to do, helping you pick out a gift for your brother... just the little things, and you find your insides flopping into itself every single time, over what is possibly only annoyance but it is also possibly, most definitely not annoyance.
And one night, after denying, and denying, and denying, when the two of you are perched on your balcony because he was helping you move into your own apartment this time. You’re both nursing the soft drinks in your hands, talking about life, and the best toothpaste to use and what not, and before you know it he’s leaning down to kiss you.
He backs away a little too early for your liking, but his hand comes back up to cup your face, his fingertips brushing over your lips, as he asks, “Was that okay?” And as you’re looking into his fixed green eyes, the same green of the trees that sway outside as you lay next to him in bed that night, you think maybe you never grew out of your crush after all.

______
“Those are the brightest pair of underwear I’ve ever seen,” said Crew that evening as he snuck into your room while you waited for your parents to finish getting ready for the concert.
“Blame my mother. She thought you’d like them,” you said, grinding your hips against where he had his hand in your jeans, two fingers curled inside you.
“I do. Then again, I like you in everything. But my favorite is you in nothing.” You whacked his shoulder, Crew rubbing your g-spot methodically. You jaw dropped, his lips finding yours as he pushed you into a long, deep orgasm that made you stand on your tip toes. Crew’s mouth was hot, swallowing down your whimpers as you rode out the last waves of pleasure.
When he pulled his hand away, he winked, murmuring he’d be right back. You walked on shaky legs to your closet, changing into a pair of not thoroughly soaked underwear only to hear Crew whistle behind you.
“Oh pretty blue,” he said as you tugged up your bikini style underwear, his hands smelling fresh of soap, capturing your cheeks and kissing you deeply again. “I think I have to ruin that pair too.”
“Down boy,” you murmured, fixing your jeans and placing your hands on his hips. “How close are you?”
“Close.” You dropped to your knees and undid his belt, Crew waving an arm and making sure to close your closet door as you yanked his jeans down just enough to get access to him. A grin spread across your lips when you licked a line up and over the head of his cock, Crew jolting and leaning back against the door. “Jesus, Y/N.”
“We don’t have long,” you mumbled, kissing up and down his shaft. “Come as quick as you want.”
“Not gonna be a-” he bit his own fist when you wrapped your lips around him, taking him inch by inch. You reached up to grab his hand, guiding it to rest in your hair but surprisingly, he didn’t move you. Instead, he gently ran his hand over your head as you hollowed your cheeks and sucked. Despite his whole body tensing, he never gripped or tugged on you, choosing to let you work him up and up and up until he was sliding his hand to your face. “Y/N,” he moaned, barely above a whisper.
You swiped your tongue over his slit and he was coming, forcing himself to be quiet as you lapped up every ounce. He was panting when you sat back on your heels, smiling up into those dark brown eyes.
“Oh shit,” he said, eyes going wide. “We should have used a condom. Y/N, I’m sorry. I got caught up-”
“Hey,” you said, standing, pulling him into your bathroom next door. “It’s okay. I don’t mind and I’m safe. I got tested after I found out my ex was cheating on me.”
“Okay,” he said, closing his eyes with a nod. You grabbed him a washcloth from your linen closet, letting him clean himself up while you brushed your teeth. “Y/N. I uh…you know how I said last night that I still feel like the ugly kid that got made fun? Well…I uh…I’ve done things with girls before but I’ve been more of a giver than a receiver.”
You locked eyes with him in the mirror, a smidge of foamy toothpaste hanging on the corner of your mouth. “How much of a receiver were you?” you asked, wiping off your mouth.
“Like I said. I want people to like me for me, not the way I look. I don’t know what it was. I’d gladly get a girl off but letting them touch me…I was afraid and then when you look the way I do and you’re as old as I am, people assume you’ve had blowjobs and sex before.”
You spun around, Crew tossing the washcloth in your laundry basket. “Are you saying last night was the first…and just now was your first…” He lowered his head and nodded. “Crew.”
“I get it. It’s weird. I’m twenty seven and countless people want to fuck me and the only person that’s ever gotten me off before last night was me. If you don’t want to see me anymore, I’d understand.”
“You dipshit,” you said, smacking his chest, forcing his head up. “God, I’m not breaking up with you because you were a virgin and didn’t tell me. Do you know how good you are at sex? And how special it makes me feel to know that I’m the one you trusted to do that with for your first time? Fuck Crew. Don’t you dare be embarrassed right now. You don’t have to justify yourself or knock yourself down because you want to know something? You know what the hell you’re doing and I liked all of it. You were the best sex I’ve ever had so own that shit and own how sexy as hell you are, alright?”
He opened his mouth to speak, running a hand through his hair a few times. “I’m actually not terrible at it?”
“Honey you are the opposite of terrible,” you said, wrapping your arms around his waist, pulling him in close. “And I can’t wait to do it again.”
“Me either,” he said, relaxing against your body, pecking a kiss on your forehead. “I should have told you last night. I just…didn’t want to blow it.”
“You didn’t,” you said, smiling as you kissed the tip of his nose. “But you can be a little rougher with me next time I give you a blowjob. I won’t break.”
“I didn’t want to mess up your hair,” he said, curling a piece behind your ear.
“Ehem.” You both jumped apart, Dee standing at the entrance to your bathroom, her eyes narrowed, scanning you both. “Crew, wash your face and comb your hair. You stink like sex.”
She curled her finger at you, both you and Crew gulping when you stepped over to her.
“Yes my wonderful mother who saw nothing?” you asked.
“Oh yes. That was very platonic face touching and talking about how you took his virginity,” she said, crossing her arms. You looked over your shoulder as Crew picked up your cleanser off the counter.
“You can’t eavesdrop on us, mom!” you whisper shouted. She rolled her eyes. “Mom!”
“I don’t care what you two do as long as you’re safe. No babies unless you two are engaged or married, got it?”
“Mom!”
“Be more careful,” she said. “And we’re ready to go when you two are.”
“Thank you very much,” you said, shooing her out of the room. You sighed when she stood there, giving Crew a resigned smile. “I’ll see you out there?”
“Pro tip as someone who did her fair share of sneaking around, don’t leave together. It’s suspicious,” she said, dragging you away from Crew before he could respond.
“Hey, honey bun,” said your dad by the front door. “Car’s out front. We just waiting on Crew?”
“Ready,” he said, jogging down the hall, smelling clean and his hair brushed up in pretty, thick waves. “Uh. Am I underdressed?”
Your mom was in a dress, boots and cropped baggy coat, dad sporting white jeans, his favorite designer sneakers, a black bomber jacket and a black and white button down with some obnoxious print only he could pull off. To be fair, they did look a bit like they’d just walked off a runway.
“You’re fine,” you said, pointing at yourself. “They like to play dress up. It’s just a concert.”
“Excuse us but we have a hot date afterwards,” said your dad. “Y/N-”
“Yes, I will come home after the concert and send the sitter away and feed the small children breakfast,” you said, throwing your crossbody bag on.
“Thank you,” he said, waving for everyone to head out.
“Why are you making your siblings breakfast?” whispered Crew as you walked up the driveway to the street.
“They’re having a ‘date night’ out which is code for they’re going to bang in a hotel room tonight without the possibility of anyone interrupting them,” you said, your dad carrying a small overnight bag on his shoulder behind you.
“So you have the house to yourself tonight?” he murmured. You grinned, Crew returning it. “Want to have a sleepover?”
“You read my mind, Foxe.”
Two Weeks Later
“Mom,” you hummed, twirling into the kitchen at your grandparents house. Most everyone was out of the house, playing touch football in the backyard while you helped her and your grandma finish up with some last minute things before dinner.
“Yes, sweetie?” she asked, checking the time on the oven. “Dinner’ll be ready in about forty minutes.”
“She’s thinking about that boy,” said your grandma.
“You told grandma about Crew! Mom! You said-”
“She didn’t tell me a thing. You smiling like an idiot at your phone the past two days gave it away,” she said. “He’s cute.”
“He’s tall too. He has abs,” whispered your mom, your grandma giving you an approving smile. “I’m done, I promise. What’s up?”
“I just…he’s sitting alone in his apartment right now with it’s crappy furniture eating take out and all by himself and I know I shouldn’t ask this but can Crew come to Christmas next month? I can’t stand the thought of him spending another holiday alone.”
“Who’s alone?” said your dad from around the corner, walking into the kitchen, face slightly red. He went to the fridge and got out a beer, breathing deeply as he took a few deep swigs. You glanced at your mom, grandma suddenly making an excuse to leave. The traitor.
“Y/N was just saying we should consider inviting Crew to Christmas with us so he’s not alone and I was just about to tell her we talked about it this morning actually,” she said. You blinked, your dad smiling.
“I tried to get the kid to come to Thanksgiving but I think if all three of us get on him, he’ll give in and come to Christmas. The cabin we rented out is plenty big enough.” He ruffled your head as he exited the kitchen, tugging on your arm. “Outside. I need some muscle to tackle your uncles.”
“So you’ll come?” you asked over facetime that night, Crew lounging on his couch, an empty pizza box beside him. “Please?”
“I don’t know, Y/N. Holidays…my birthday was one thing but if I go to your family’s Christmas, don’t you think your dad will figure it out?” You pouted, adjusting your phone from where you held it, sat on the edge of the cold stone firepit in the yard.
“He wants you to come too. We all do. Tell me the truth. Is this about getting caught or is it about celebrating a holiday again?” He frowned, closing his eyes. “Crew.”
“It’s your family. It’s not mine.” Crew looked like he had to force himself to look at the camera again, eyes quickly glancing downwards. “Besides, wouldn’t it be super obvious to Jensen we’re together if I came?”
“No, it really wouldn’t. We have friends at Thanksgiving all the time. It’s never just blood relatives.”
“Yeah but this is Christmas. It’s different.”
“And I don’t want you to be alone on it.” He sat the phone down, your view of the ceiling as he sighed. “If it’s stressing you out then okay, I’ll back off. But what about me staying back to hang out with you?”
“Y/N no,” he said, snatching the phone up. “I’m not letting you miss the holiday with your family to be with me.”
“Then come with me and we can all be together.”
“I can’t.” You rolled your eyes. “Kid, I can’t do it.”
“Crew-”
“I don’t want to get used to holidays again.” You sealed your lips shut as he ran a hand through his hair. “Y/N, I want to go. Trust me, I want to. But I haven’t celebrated anything since I was sixteen. It’s been a decade. And I don’t want to go to one this year and then find out it was a one time thing and I’m alone again the next year. I don’t think I can handle that.”
You looked across the dark yard to the lit up house, shadows passing by in the windows, someone’s loud laugh managing to eek it’s way outdoors. “And I can’t guarantee that it’s not a one time thing is what you’re saying.”
“It’s unfair and shitty, I know. Believe me, I know how much of a dick I sound like-”
“Honey, you’re not a dick for not wanting to get hurt.”
“But I’m hurting you by not going.” You shook your head, fixing the phone so he could see your face better in the dimming light. “You want me to go.”
“Crew,” you said softly, tucking your hair behind your ear. “All I want is for you to have a nice Christmas. If you think you’d have a nicer one on your own and you’d rather wait until maybe next year when you’re feeling more confident in us, then I want you to stay home. I do not want this to be stressful for you at all. We can have a little Christmas a few days before or after, whatever we want to do, okay?”
He cocked his head, tucking his knees up to his chest adorably as he smiled. “You silly little goose. I am more than confident in us. But just because I feel a certain way doesn’t mean you have to.”
You pulled up your knees as well, furrowing your brows together. “Wait. You don’t want to come because you think I’ll change my mind about you and me?”
Hey, I’m smitten. But I need to know you are too. It’s just bad timing. Give me a few more months and I think you’ll be there but-”
“You’re such a dipshit,” you laughed quietly, Crew resting his chin on the tops of his knees. “Crew…”
“Do not say it. Even I’m not there to say it. Obviously I got my shit to work through a bit when it comes to this stuff and being open to being vulnerable again. I just know what I feel.”
“How about I ask this then,” you said. Crew nodded, eyes cautiously fixated on yours. “Do you want to come to Christmas every year? To be clear, I’m asking as your friend Y/N, not your girlfriend Y/N, so you really don’t have an excuse not to say yes.”
“I suppose I don’t.” Crew bit his bottom lip, slowly relaxing as you smiled. “I feel like I’m catching you again, Ackles.”
“Maybe,” you giggled. His smile turned dark, thumb running over his lip. “Okay, that’s not fair to tease me like that.”
“Oh yes. I’m the tease in this relationship,” he chuckled. He ruffled his hair, eyes darting around your face. “Are we being two stupid kids? How do we know this isn’t just intense sexual attraction and when it fades, we’ll go our own ways?”
You shrugged, catching your hair when a gust of wind blew it past your face. “I think attraction made us pay attention to each other, got you way out of your comfort zone and got me over my ex in a flash. But attraction didn’t make us tell each other things no one else knows about us. I think we both know the difference between a crush and something more.”
Crew was quiet for a few beats, nodding his head to himself. “If I can trust my gut with how I feel about you then I need to trust it when it says to trust you. So don’t invite me to any other Christmas’ except this one. You can ask next year’s next year. But I won’t be a dick that makes you promise something you can’t. There are no guarantees what’ll happen to us. So ask me again and I’ll be a big boy and answer this time.”
“You said you trust me?” He smiled and nodded. “Then trust me, Crew. Come to Christmas and the one after that and the one after that.”
“Okay,” he said, chuckling quietly. “I’ll take the pity invites.”
“No pity invites. But I do expect to see some naked abs or ass as repayment.” He snorted, pulling off his shirt one handed, running his hand down his chest. “Hey! I should be touching that!”
“Enjoy these abs while they’re here. You can kiss these suckers goodbye in March for a solid three months.”
“First off, you’re being extremely rude tracing your own eight pack like that,” you said, Crew grinning as he slowly moved his finger through the crevices. “Second, I don’t care if you have a tummy. I still get to put my hands all over it. And in March we’re going out to eat a lot. Your personal trainer is going to hate me.”
“Already looking forward to it,” he laughed. “And your dad is my personal trainer so I’m sure he’ll love that.”
“You got that body through freaking beach body workouts?” you asked as he hummed. “Lucky. I’ve done those for years and I still can’t get into the jeans I wore in high school.”
“You’re being a silly goose again,” he laughed. “See I don’t want that version of Y/N. She was cute and beautiful. But I want the hot curvy woman with an ass and legs to worship for days. So if I can not have abs then you can have that exquisite fucking thirst trap of a body, got it?”
“You want a thirst trap?” you grinned. “I’ll send you one when I’m in bed later.”
He groaned and threw his head back. “This is what I get for taking off my shirt, isn’t it.”
“Yes. But your dick will thank me for it later.”
“Fuck, when are you coming back?” he asked.
“Late Sunday night. I’ll see you at work.” You heard the back door open and sighed. “I gotta go. I’ll text you later.”
“I’ll be waiting,” he said, giving you a small wave before he was gone. You popped your head up to find your dad halfway across the yard.
“Hey, guess what?” you asked, shoving your phone away. “I managed to convince Crew to come to Christmas.”
“That’s great, honey bun,” he said, a worried smile on his face. “You okay?”
“Me?” He nodded back at the house.
“I know it’s a lot of people and people were asking questions about Anthony.” You stared at him, blinking slowly. “About why you guys ended things…I just wanted to make sure you’re okay and you don’t have to tell anyone anything.”
Oh. He was worried about you. That made sense. Some of your aunts were a bit relentless at times but to be honest, Anthony hadn’t crossed your mind much in the past month unless you were comparing how much more amazing Crew had been towards you.
“I’m good. Promise,” you said, smiling quickly. “I’m kind of over Anthony to be honest.”
“Really?” he asked, eyebrows raised. “I’m glad to hear it but you were with him for seven years, honey. He was your first everything. It’s okay to not be okay still.”
“I get that but like you said, he was an asshole and looking back, I was settling cause I thought he was the safe option and I don’t want to go with the safe option, you know? I want it to be the happy option.”
“You figure that all out by yourself?” he asked with a knowing smirk. You hid your surprise when he crossed his arms. “You and Crew have been hanging out a lot lately. Don’t think I don’t see what’s going on.”
“I…” you trailed off, swallowing thickly. He place his hands on your shoulders, rubbing your biceps.
“I love that you guys are friends too. I’m sure Crew thinks Anthony was a dick too. It helps when someone your own age tells you too and not just your parents.”
“Right…” you said, watching his features closely. Did he really think you and Crew were just friends?
“And I know Crew appreciates having a friend his own age. But we get to share him, hm?”
“Of course,” you said, your dad fixing your hair when another gust of wind blew through the yard. “Crew should have as many friends as he wants.”
“I feel the same way. And same goes for you. It’s nice you guys are going out with some of the younger crew after work. Builds camaraderie and friendships worth something.” You nodded, pursing your lips. “Alright, I’ll stop. But I did want to talk to you about something in private before Monday.”
You stared up at him, watching him smile slowly.
“I’m not supposed to know this but the show was renewed all the way through season 4 earlier this week so we’ll be shooting in Austin for a few months a year at least for the next two years.”
“That’s great dad! That gives you plenty of time to do other projects too, right?”
“Exactly, plenty for both me and Crew. But the reason I’m telling you is that our previous still photographer has informed the studio she isn’t coming back. She’s going to take a few years off to raise her son. The studio has been happy with the shots they’ve gotten from you so far for marketing. On Monday you’re going to be offered a permanent position as the on-set still photographer. We film four months a year and the other eight you’d be free to do whatever you want with your business. You’d have financial security and get to maintain your own work too. What do you think?”
“Wait, someone at Amazon thinks my shots are good? Me?” you asked. He laughed, nodding his head. “Me?”
“Yes, you. I know they’ll expect an answer from you on the spot but I wanted to give you some time to think it over.”
“Wait,” you said, holding up a hand. “Pictures I take of you and Crew could wind up on social media accounts?”
“Honey bun, pictures you take of us will wind up on a billboard on Hollywood Boulevard.” Your jaw dropped, his laugh echoing in the quiet night air. “That a yes?”
“Absolutely it’s a yes!” You hopped up and down on your toes, your dad laughing to himself as he hugged you.
“Just don’t let another production steal you away from us. I may or may not enjoy getting to work together.”
“I’ve been taking pictures of you since I was a kid and now I get paid for it? This is the best day ever!” He laughed again as he bent down, throwing you on his back and heading for the house.
“You could be more enthusiastic about this you know,” he teased. “But no telling anyone about the getting renewed bit, okay? Not even Crew knows yet.”
“Okay, okay,” you said, squeezing him tight. “Ah thank you dad!”
“It was all you, Y/N. Now let’s go honor Dean and split a pie between us.”
“Mr. Foxe,” you panted as Crew practically mauled you in the hallway of his apartment Monday night. “You sure seem mighty eager for your dinner.”
“I want my dessert now,” he growled, hiking your legs up around his waist, grinding against your core, your jeans sadly in the way. “Fuck. How long before we’re supposed to be at your parents?”
“Thirty minutes,” you moaned when he rested you against the wall and undid the zipper of your jeans. “It’s a twenty minute drive this time of night.”
“Plenty of time,” he said. He yanked on your jeans and underwear, tugging them downwards until you went to set a foot on the floor to help him remove them.
But the bastard held you up with one damn hand, shucking them off one leg and then the other, smirking as he flashed you a wink. “Hold on tight, kid.”
“Hold on to-” You yelped as he pushed you up the wall at the same moment he dropped to his knees, pushing your legs to rest on his shoulders. Large hands squeezed your hips as he buried his face in your folds, your hands shooting to his hair. “Jesus Crew.”
He only moved his tongue faster, your back trying to arch but he held you firm against the wall, nowhere to go. It was too much heat, too much delicious pressure building in your core. And then you looked down, those dark eyes grinning up at you as he ate you out.
You were surprised your didn’t suffocate him with how hard you clenched your legs as you came.
“Plenty of time,” he murmured, kissing the inside of your thigh as he helped guide you down to the floor. His tongue jutted out to lick his lips, your mind still spinning as he dipped into his kitchen, wiping you down with a towel when he returned. “So loud for me.”
“Oh my god,” you said, throwing your hands over your mouth. “I’m so sorry. I’m normally not very vocal when-”
He captured your lips with his, chuckling when he pulled back an inch. “Just means I’m doing something right to make you scream like that.”
You reached for his belt, Crew leaning in to kiss you again.
Twenty five minutes later, and an orgasm for each of you, you were walking into your house, Crew pulling into the driveway.
“Work keep you late?” asked your mom as you ditched your work bag by the door and went to the sink to wash up. You shot her a look, one she grinned at, before the doorbell rang. “Y/N would you get the door?”
“Yes mother,” you said, trailing down the hall after your little brother. “No Zepp. You’re not big enough to answer the door yet.”
“Ugh. But I’m six!” he said.
“Not today, big man,” you said, stepping in front of him. You pulled open the door with a smile, Crew grinning as he moved inside. “Hi.”
“Hi,” he said, pecking a kiss on your lips.
“Hi Crew!” He practically jumped back against the door when your brother popped out.
“H-Hey buddy! You’re taller than I remember.”
“You saw me last week!”
“Must be growing then,” he said, kicking off his sneakers and picking Zepp up, throwing him over his shoulder.
“Crew!” he giggled, your heart swooning as you watched him carry your little brother into the kitchen. He was normally shy around new people, and even some people he did know, so seeing him be so open with Crew put a big ass smile on your face. “Mom! Crew’s here!”
“Hi Crew!” said your sisters, chairs moving in the distance. By the time you were back in sight of the kitchen, all three of them were using him as a jungle gym.
“Guys, guys. Clean up your drawings and wash your hands,” said your mom. Crew set them down and gratefully took hold of the bottle of wine that was sat on the counter. “Hands washed or no dessert.”
They took off upstairs and for their bathroom, Crew chuckling as he popped the cork out.
“So how was traffic?” asked your mom.
“It was fine,” you said, going to the cabinet, taking out plates and bowls to set on the table. She grinned and you narrowed your eyes. “Mother.”
“What? I’m just asking how your ride home was.” She glanced at Crew who froze on the spot. “Oh, you know I know. Now relax and pour us some wine, sweetie.”
“Dee, I-” She held up a hand.
“You’re happy and she’s happy. That makes me happy, Crew. When you two are ready to tell Jensen and the family, that’s when you tell us. Until then I will try to keep the butting in to a minimum.”
“You’re actually okay with me dating your daughter?” he whispered, glancing around for Jensen. She chuckled quietly, taking the bottle from him and pouring some drinks.
“Crew. We’re still friends and as your friend I’m telling you, you’re the kind of man I’d want any of my kids to date. Okay sweetie?” He nodded, easing some. “And if you need any girl advice you still come to me, alright?”
“You may live to regret that,” he chuckled, graciously taking the glass that was handed to him. “Do…do you think Jensen will freak out?”
“I don’t know. I know he’ll have strong feelings just because he cares about you both very much. He probably will be a little upset he was kept in the dark but he has to live with that. You’re both adults entitled to your privacy.”
“Crew,” you mumbled, Crew getting the message to drop it before he overheard you. “So I got offered to be the permanent still photographer today.”
“That’s great, Y/N!” said your mom, Crew going to a pot, stirring it when it looked close to bubbling over. “I’m so excited for you!”
“I know you know mom,” you laughed, still happily taking your hug from her. “I didn’t quite think this is where my career would go but I really like it.”
“Hey, you still owe me those headshots,” said Crew, your mom waving the two of you out of the kitchen. “Don’t think I’ve forgotten about that.”
“We can get together on Saturday, I can show you my studio space and then we could do some outdoors if you want?” you asked.
“Do that,” said your dad as he walked into the kitchen wearing sweatpants and sporting wet hair. “I have no idea why but they really like to have those outdoorsy pictures too when you’re younger.”
“Because they like to see the cute boys look like jocks,” said your mom as feet pounded upstairs. “Everyone out of my kitchen. Dinner will be ready in a few minutes.”

SERIES MASTERLIST
They say that when you meet your soulmate, you don't really know how to love them. The mysterious people who said this were also (not) surprisingly the same people who said that when atoms split to form the universe, they found home in different people. And now these people are soulmates because the atoms connect and blah blah blah all that fairy nonsense. But it is a nice thought which pops up in your brain whenever you see your best friend of 17 years run his hands through his hair and play yet another one of your favourite songs on his blue guitar, which you gifted him two years ago.
Park Jay was, in a word, the epitome of perfection. Well atleast to you he was. Beautiful curls of hair, the universe stuck in his eyes and all of Icarus's melted wings in his smile.
Jay Park had been your best friend ever since you were seven, since that unfortunate incident when you had stepped on his sandcastle at the beach. In return, he stomped on your sandcastle too, making you angry and storming off to your mother. However, luck was against you and you found out that he was your new neighbour. The friendship blossomed when he walked up to you shyly and handed you a painted rock and played you a song on his untuned guitar. It was sweet and you were kids, bonding with you over music, plays, books, flowers and the giant walnut tree in the park near your houses. Now as you sat against the walnut tree along with Jay and his guitar, you couldn't help but reminisce about those times of the past. Lost memories of helping each other get ready for prom, crying on each other's shoulders when your dates dumped you, and going out for pizza and ice cream, which ended up with collapsing on his bed together, with bloated stomachs, and filled souls.
"Jay that was beautiful." You clapped your hands together In excitement as Jay finished playing the song on the guitar.
"Teach me please! I wanna learn too!" Jay chuckled at your excitement and ruffled your hair, making you pout and slap his hand.
"Yah you messed up the hair I've worked on for an hour! Asshole." You grumbled as he wrapped his arms around you and tickled you, making you laugh out, scaring the birds sitting on the walnut tree nearby.
"Be honest-" Jay smirked at you. "You did that pretty hair all good for me, right? And you even put a gardenia in it!" You scoffed at his words and flicked a leaf at him, making his dramatically gasp.
"I did it for myself, you idiot. Why would I do it for you?"
"Alright Miss Girlboss." Jay held up his hands in defeat, still staring at the gardenia in your hair. "Just don't whine when I don't take you out for your toothpaste icecream." The rest of the evening was drowned out by you chasing Jay around the park, threatening to smear mint choco ice cream on his precious guitars.
"Y/N." Jay snapped his fingers in front of your face. "Are you listening, you dumbass?" It was a cold evening that day, but as you sat there on the grass, with Jay in short sleeved t shirts and the baggiest pants, you didn't feel the cold outside, instead choosing to feel the cold within. A bouquet lay by your side, forget-me-nots, clematis' and geraniums, all wrapped up with a pick ribbon.
Promises were always the sweetest lies. People promise to live for you, and yet they let go, choosing to live beneath mud instead. And yet there's something about certain promises that make you want to stay. That make you want to love, live and cherish.
That's what Jay was. A sweet lie, a kind promise. Promising you that he would stay with for, for you, by you. And yet promises were apparently made to break, and as you watched him about to leave town, your heart broke in two, just like his promise. You knew this was bad, bad like you shouldn't feel like this for your best friend, who had gotten an opportunity abroad. You should have felt happy, elated even, that he had gotten into his dream University. But you didn't and you felt horrible.
"I'll miss you, but don't expect me to get accepted into the same college and come running to you like Harry and Sally." Jay stuck out his tongue at your words and ruffled his hair again. He had had that habit, you assumed since his birth. You often took note of the way whenever he walked into a room, the first thing he would do is run his hands through his fluffy hair.
"What, you idiot? Im trying to spot some butterflies." You grumbled as Jay chuckled and leant back against the walnut tree. The smell of honeycomb and beeswax hung in the air.
"You sure you won't miss me much?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. You really didn't have to think much about the answer for his question. Yes, of course yes you would miss the boy you've been smitten by for seventeen years. Yet, you knew that if you told him that answer, it would only make the heartbreak more painful. And you, of course, never really preferred pain.
8 Years Later
"You don't have to get accepted into the same University. Plus-" Jay bit his cheek. "You don't have the brains anyway."
"Park Joengsoeng!" You slapped his arm and pounced on him, tickling his stomach, making him burst into laughter and shout out 'sorry' over and over again, as both of you flopped back on the grass, not knowing what the days forward might bring. "Promise you'll still write me in our language?" You asked Jay holding out your pinky, which he intertwined with his. "I promise. And it's as big of a promise as Irises are." You sobered in the warmth of the grass, with the boy next to you, simply savouring his existence as the universe moved just like it always did.
"Miss Yang." Your assistant, Ji-ah tapped on your door. "Come in Ji-ah." You responded, not looking up from your papers. Your hands were all tangled in your hair, and the tip of your pencil, which lay on the clean porcelain table, was all chewed at the end. The atmosphere of your office held a heavy cloud. Perhaps it was the grey wall paint, and the paintings which hung on the wall, but it all felt heavy and downright bad.
"I'm sorry to bother you, Ma'am." Ji-ah bowed low to you, slightly adjusting her pressed maroon pencil skirt as she did that. "It's no issue Ji-ah. What is it?" You waved your hand nonchalantly and motioned for her to sit down in front of you. Ji-ah slightly gulped and sat down, pressing a folder infront of you.
"I checked your schedule and contacted all the people you've asked me to." Ji-ah said, her tone almost robotic. Her voice rang clear, however, even through the pitter-patter of the rain pouring outside. "And well-" Ji-ah paused and fiddled with her fingers. "I couldn't arrange a day for you to meet Mr Lee privately. You would have to meet him on the day of the joint session." You sighed heavily, as you noticed, for perhaps the first time, how suffocating the room actually was. Even the lilacs growing in the corner seemed to be sad.
"Are you sure I have to talk to that man, in a room full of men, who will keep staring at my hips instead of listening to me?" Ji-ah gave you a sympathetic smile, as you gave her the papers you had been working on, instructions her about what to do with them.
"Ma'am, if I may-"Ji-ah voiced. "All the men in that room, which you'll be stuck in for a hour or so, they're all below you. So if they do stare at your hips, why don't you just bring it up? Embarrass them? You have always taught me that humiliation is the key to breaking chauvinist pigs." You chuckled at Ji-ah's words, your chest swelling with pride as you listened to her words.
"Will do Ji-ah." You affirmed. "Oh and by the way, I've approved your leave for the month but have you found a replacement yet?" Ji-ah promptly nodded and clacked her heels together as she made to go out the door.
"He'll be here tomorrow Ma'am. I found the best, only for you."
"Thank you Ji-ah. Enjoy your stay at your grandma's. Bring me back something!"
•••••••••
"Ugh." You collapsed onto your bed as your alarm dinged with a notification. 'Dinner time', it read on the dimply illuminated screen. "No I don't want to have dinner." You glared at your phone, as if talking to a human. Your white ragdoll cat, Perry, jumped onto the bed next to you, and sat nonchalantly, licking his paw.
"Perry, I'm tired and I want to die." Perry purred lowly, and looked straight ahead at you with a blank stare, as if questioning why you were telling a cat about your emotions. "Oh well, might as well get you your food, Perry. You're hungry aren't you my baby? My scrumpious wittle-" you tried to pick up Perry, all the while baby-talking him, but unfortunately that went down the drain. Perry ran off from your bed and jumped onto your bed table, accidentally knocking off some pictures.
"Perry!" You grumbled. "You stupid cat." You mumbled the last part under your breath, as you made to pick the pictures up. There were four of them sitting peacefully in flower frames. They lit up the dire condition of your bedroom, painted in dark blues and blacks, illuminated with yellow lamps.
You picked up the flower lamps slowly but surely, only pausing once to stare at one of them, fit in the most beautiful frame which was embroidered with pink camellias. Against a clear sky and yarrow bushes, stood two teenagers, wearing shirts with cringy mottos on them, with converse in red and blue. You smiled softly at the picture. 17th birthday party for Jay, and right before the moment when you both secretly drank underage. It captured the beautiful moments you spent with each other, before he left your soul broken into pieces, making sure that zinnias grow in the cracks.
•••••••••
"Good morning Miss Yang." A short man with brown hair and cat eyes came up to you as you entered your office building. He was dressed in a clean pressed white shirt and black trousers, making him look like a waiter.
"Oh are you the new assistant? Jungwon?" The man promptly nodded and handed you a file.
"Miss Ji-ah a-appointed me two days ago, Ma'am. Um, this is my r-resume." You found the man adorable. He looked a bit like Perry, whom you assumed was probably sleeping in your cat sitter's bed.
"Well it's nice to meet you, Jungwon. And you didn't really need to wear office wear today." You gestured towards his bowtie. "You're coming with me on the trip aren't you?"
"Ah well-" Jungwon turned red, "I-I wanted to make a good first impression." You smiled gently at him, making the red in his face disappear a bit, and putting him at ease, all ready to go off to the land of freedom and eagles.
•••••••••••••
"Miss Yang." A stout man dressed in black overalls and possibly the most non-wrinkliest shirt you've ever seen bowed to you, gesturing to his two assistants to take your and Jungwon's suitcases and bags, to which Jungwon clutched his purple backpack tighter to his chest. "It is an honour to have you staying in our hotel Ma'am. Might I be the first to welcome you to Seattle?" The man bowed again. He reminded you of a snake, with a heavy receding hairline and slimy hands. Even the way he spoke reminded you of snake hisses
. "Thank you." You said, bowing a bit. "I suppose my suite is ready? And one for my assistant too?" The man shot a look at Jungwon and then back at you, bowing again.
"Of course Ma'am. The two best suites in the hotel. I would also like to tell you that some of the- ahem- people you are meeting are also staying here, so we would please like to ask you to not bring up any confrontations with them." You merely smiled at the man, as you heard Jungwon giggle silently behind you.
"Well of course, my good man." You kept your face cool and calm. "Perhaps you should also tell them not to undermine and ridicule me, like pathetic wet socks, just because they feel- what's the word? Oh yes-" You grinned up the man, "-they feel bitched on by a slut who fucked her way up to the top." The man's jaw dropped as you glided away, heels clacking on the floor, with Jungwon following behind you, a grin imprinted on his face.
"Ma'am, you really didn't have to book me a suite too. I could have just-"
"Jungwon, I assure you. It wasn't a problem. Plus-" you smiled gently at him, "I always treat my assistants well." The sheepish smile broke out on Jungwon's face again as he thanked you and rushed to keep the important files on the oak table.
"That was amazing by the way. What you said to that man." He complemented you, which you took gratefully. You took a moment to admire the beauty of the suite. The reviews on the hotel's website were right. This really was the best hotel in Seattle. The room was decorated with flowers everywhere of every kind. A vase which caught your eye, was filled with carnations of every colour. It was always interesting to you how the colours of the carnations matched up to make a beautifully sorrowful story. Red carnations for deep heartache, pink ones for a long-lasting memory, white carnations for sweet love and yellow striped ones for refusal of love. It was amazing to you how a single flower can exhibit so many emotions.
"Ma'am, can we perhaps take those flowers out of the room?" Jungwon interrupted your line of thought, pointing towards tiny violet flowers, with yellow pistils, "I'm allergic to them."
"You're allergic to crocuses?", You pointed at the flowers, "We can call the front desk to talk them out alright?" Jungwon nodded and continued with his work, not noticing you staring at the crocuses. "You know, they represent youth and cheerfulness? It's an interesting flower, the spring crocus."
Jungwon snapped his head to look at you, his eyes rapidly blinking. "Do you have an interest for the language of flowers Ma'am?" He asked you casually, while sniffing a magnolia sitting in a brown vase.
"I used to study them when I was fifteen. Along with my best friend." You answered gently caressing the magnolias, feeling their soft petals brush against your skin, while Jungwon sneezed, probably because of the crocuses. "fuck-" you swore under your breath, "Jungwon, go to your bedroom, I'll get the staff to take out the crocuses."
"A-ACHOO- alright- Ma'am." He cleared his throat, scratched his nose and quickly disappeared into the bedroom, still sneezing while you took all the crocuses in the suite and went down to the reception area, still in the clothes that you came in with. An olive green shirt dress with your everyday heels. All the way to the reception area, you were slightly distracted by a scent which was wafting into your nose. The scent of your favourite perfume. Infact it was the scent of your perfume, the one you wore everyday and the one you weren't wearing right now. Of course gifts from Italy need to be treasured right? And gifts from lost best friends need to be kept in a locked safe. You had gotten the perfume with you, but it was currently sitting safe in bubble wrap in the depths of your suitcase. So what was the scent that was trapping you in?
•••••••••••
"Oh I'm so sorry." Lost in your thoughts, you accidentally bumped into someone's shoulders causing them to drop the flowers they were carrying. "Oh that's all right." A familiar voice rang in your ear.
"Wait-", you gasped, "Kim Sunoo is that you?" The blonde boy looked up at you and gave you the widest smile ever.
"Y/N oh my god!" The dropped flowers on the ground were forgotten as both of you hugged each other tightly making sure not to let go until the other does. "wow-" Sunoo exclaimed, "we haven't seen each other since-" "since Yeji's party in our final year?" Sunoo laughed and nodded, picking up the flowers he was carrying in the process. "So what brings you to my amazing hotel?" Sunoo grinned.
"This is your hotel? So you actually achieved your dreams huh?" You giggled at him, winking. "Did you get your bet money from Niki?" Sunoo rolled his eyes and scoffed at your question. "The kid won't give me anything except for Sunday ice cream. Anyways-" he looked at you as you walked up to the front desk, "what brings you here?"
"Well what brings me to the front desk is that I would like the crocuses in my suite to be removed." You told the lady at the front desk, who promptly bowed and stalked away, probably to get the rest of the crocuses out of the room. "What brings me to Seattle-" you turned to Sunoo, who leaned forward excitedly, "-is a meeting with all the top Ceo's of America. I assume you'd already know about it, since it's gonna be sponsored by your hotel?" Sunoo's eyes widened and his jaw dropped as he clapped his hands excitedly.
"So you're the Miss Yang who was registered for the meeting without her first name!" Sunoo rolled his eyes, "Girl, why are you still chasing your mysterious girl fantasies of freshman year?" "Says the person who still has his dumb emo haircut of sophomore year." "Yah!"
•••••••••••••
"Miss Yang, this way." The man guided you towards a meeting hall. "You look very pretty Ma'am." Jungwon trodded shyly behind you. "You look handsome in that jacket too, Jungwon. I bet all the girls here will be swooning for you once I take you to the bar after the meeting." You said, making Jungwon turn a deep shade of red. You took a pause before entering the meeting room and adjusted your knee length plum pencil skirt and slightly rolled up the sleeves of your beige shirt.
"Jungwon? You good now?" You silently peeked your head around the bedroom door, to see Jungwon sitting on his bed and sorting through files. You giggled silently, seeing his face so concentrated on the files. Ji-ah was right. He really was a great assistant. The thought of making him your second assistant would have always escaped your mind if not for-
"Ma'am would you like to read the list of people who you will be meeting today?" He'd even looked up the people at the meeting. How sweet, you thought. Hollyhock, you thought, would be the flower to suit him. "Could you read them out to me Jungwon?" You said, as you collapsed onto the bed, noticing only now how tired you were. "Yes ma'am." Jungwon promptly said, pushing up his glasses.
"I'll read out the ones of importance. You shall be meeting Mr Lee Heeseung, Mr Choi Minho, Mr Park Sunghoon, Mr Jay Park, Mr Hwan-"
"What did you just say?" You sat up quickly in bed, scaring the shit out of Jungwon.
"I-uh. Um Mr Hwang Hyunjin will be meeting you?" You shook your head frantically and quickly took the paper from him, scanning your eyes through it. There it was. Your ears hadn't misheard. Jjoengsoeng 'Jay' Park, written right on top.
"Oh my god." You breathed out, making Jungwon leaned forward to take a peek at the paper. "Ma'am are you alright?" You looked up at Jungwon's concerned face, trying to hold in your tears.
"I am perfectly fine. Just-" you put the paper down, "-kind of shocked." "I assume you do not want to talk about it?" Jungwon's voice provided you a slither of comfort. You nodded slowly and scampered off to your room, saying hurried goodbyes to Jungwon and telling him to get ready by seven thirty. As you passed the carnations in the living room, you couldn't help but feel a pit in your stomach, sinking in like a whirlpool, making you feel like the entire world was about to collapse, if you met the person who used to be your everything, this evening.
••••••••••••
"Ah Miss Yang. It's a pleasure to see you again." A tall black haired man came up to you and shook your hand as you entered the room. He was certainly handsome with sharp features and the prettiest hair you've ever seen.
"Mr Sunghoon." You bowed to him, to which he chuckled. "Should we drop the antics now? How you doing Y/N?" The man engulfed you in a hug, which you reciprocated, breathing in his smell of oak wood cologne. "I'm good Hoonie. What about you? How's Yeji?" Sunghoon smiled at you and led you over to your chair, which was next to his. "She's good. Pregnant actually. Spending some time with her mum so I could come to this stupid meeting." He flicked some dust from the table away as he picked up a bouquet from underneath the seat and handed it to you.
"For you m'lady." "Camellias Sunghoon really?" You raised an eyebrow at him. "Why do you still know the meaning of white camellias? I told you that five years ago in junior year."
"Miss Yang, it's good to see you." Lee Heeseung kissed your hand gently and bowed to you. You had always admired him, wanting to collaborate with him and this meeting was the perfect chance for you to talk to him. So what if you didn't have a chance to speak to him in private? Hell, you would have asked him to do buisness with you, right infront of every man in the room.
"Cause you told me it means a heartless person, and I really want to put up my act of an ice cold prince so that's why I got it for you." You tried to hold in your laughter as you looked at him fixing his hair. You didn't have the heart to tell him that white camellias actually meant adorableness, so you let him keep his ego. You willed away the time as the other people started coming into the room. You would be lying if you said that you didn't feel a little intimidated. The men weren't scary or anything, but so many of them in one room? A girl's gotta feel a bit scared doesn't she?
You threw glances to Jungwon from time to time, who seemed to be getting along well with the other assistants, which was good, considering that most of them were young women his age.
"Is Mr Park late yet again?" A handsome long haired man, with pretty pink lips and porcelain skin said, checking his watch. "Well shall we start without him then Mr Hwang? You know what he would do even if an ounce of disrespect reached him." A plum haired man, with a sharp carved nose said, glaring at the man called Mr Hwang.
"Who are they talking about?" You whispered in Sunghoon's ears. "Jay Park." Sunghoon whispered back, fiddling with his tie. "He's basically the unofficial mayor of Seattle. The most powerful buisness man in America." The pit in your stomach kept increasing as you wondered if the Jay Park they were talking about was the boy you knew for seventeen years of your life, the boy who would talk to you about the meaning of flowers while eating mint-chocolate ice cream.
You would have dwelled on that thought for a bit longer if the door didn't suddenly crack open as everyone fell silent. The sound of footsteps rang in your ear as a slightly built man, with hair as dark as outer space and eyes the colour of black coffee, entered the room. Your heart skipped a beat or two as you laid your eyes on the man. Your eyes couldn't believe it. A face from your past, eyes you had been hypnotized by and a voice you could recognise even in the dark. Jay Park stood in front of you, staring at all the people in the room, while your eyes bored into his.
"Good evening everyone. I am sorry for the delay. I merely got caught up picking out an appropriate suit for the evening." You could have laughed out right there and then. And you did.
"Anything funny, Miss Yang?" Jay's eyes turned to you. You could feel Sunghoon tensing up next to you as you stared straight into Jay's eyes. The audacity, you thought, for him to call you Miss Yang.
"I just didn't think that picking a neon suit straight from the 70's would take you a long time, Mr Park" you smiled sarcastically at him.
"How dare you insult Mr Park!" Mr Hwang spoke, glaring at you, to which Jay held up a hand, so as to stop a war from breaking out. He took a few steps forward and turned his chair, sitting onto it, with the grace of a swan.
"You need not defend me, Mr Hwang. After all Miss Yang is an old friend isn't she? She's allowed to make fun of me."
What. The . Fuck.
Those three words swirled again and again in your mind as you looked at Jay, all suave and calm, sitting in his chair, talking to you as if he hadn't abandoned you and didn't talk to you for eight god forbiddened years.
"Shall we start then Mr Park?" Heeseung spoke up, gesturing for his assistant to give him some papers and files.
'"Of course." Jay merely responded, staring at the Calla lilies in the vase set in the center of the table.
'Well' you thought, 'this evening was going to be a rollercoaster ride.'

Empowering Parents with Expert Tips: Dr. Daniel Larscheid’s Ultimate Children's Dental Health Handbook
Raising a child comes with countless responsibilities, and ensuring their dental health is often one of the most overlooked aspects. In his latest book, Daniel Larscheid’s Ultimate Guide To Children's Dental Health: Ensuring Bright Smiles and Healthy Teeth from Infancy to Adolescence, Dr. Daniel Larscheid offers parents a practical and comprehensive guide to help them confidently manage their child’s oral health at every stage of development. With over 20 years of experience in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Larscheid equips parents with expert tips, actionable strategies, and easy-to-follow routines that promote lifelong dental health.
The Importance of Starting Early
Dr Dan Larscheid emphasizes that oral health begins even before the first tooth erupts. By starting early, parents can set their children on the path to a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. In the book, Dr. Larscheid explains the importance of cleaning a baby’s gums, using a soft cloth or infant toothbrush, to remove bacteria and prevent plaque buildup. This early introduction to oral care not only promotes healthy gum development but also helps children become comfortable with having their mouths cleaned, reducing resistance as they grow older.
Once baby teeth begin to appear, Dr. Larscheid advises parents to brush their child’s teeth twice a day using a small, soft-bristled toothbrush and a rice-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste. Early exposure to brushing not only prevents early tooth decay, but it also helps establish a habit that will last throughout childhood and beyond.
Establishing Healthy Habits with Brushing and Flossing
One of the core themes in Dr. Larscheid’s book is the power of habit. He provides parents with clear, actionable advice on how to make brushing and flossing a consistent part of their child’s daily routine. Dr. Larscheid suggests making oral care a fun activity, turning it into a bonding experience rather than a chore. For instance, parents can create a brushing chart to track their child’s progress or use apps that play music or videos during brushing to ensure kids brush for the recommended two minutes.
Dr. Larscheid also offers guidance on choosing the right toothbrush and toothpaste for each age group. For younger children, he recommends soft-bristled brushes with smaller heads and toothpaste containing the appropriate amount of fluoride. As children grow older, their dental needs change, and Dr. Larscheid provides tips on transitioning to larger toothbrushes and managing more advanced care routines, such as flossing.
Flossing, while often neglected, is just as important as brushing. Dr. Larscheid advises parents to start flossing their child’s teeth as soon as two teeth begin to touch. He explains that flossing helps remove food particles and plaque from between teeth, areas that a toothbrush cannot reach. In his book, Dr. Larscheid includes step-by-step instructions on how to floss a young child’s teeth and offers advice on making this a stress-free part of their routine.
Addressing Diet and Nutrition for Healthy Teeth
What children eat and drink plays a significant role in their dental health, and Dr. Larscheid dedicates a substantial portion of his book to discussing the impact of diet. He highlights that sugar is one of the primary contributors to tooth decay in children. Parents should be aware of the hidden sugars in common foods and drinks, such as fruit juices, processed snacks, and even some seemingly healthy options like flavored yogurt.
Dr. Larscheid provides parents with actionable strategies to minimize their child’s sugar intake without completely depriving them of treats. For example, he suggests offering water instead of juice and encouraging children to drink milk, which is rich in calcium and beneficial for developing strong teeth. He also advocates for a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and dairy products, all of which contribute to stronger teeth and healthier gums.
Additionally, Dr. Larscheid offers tips on how to help children brush after meals or at least rinse their mouths with water after consuming sugary foods, further reducing the risk of cavities.
Managing Dental Anxiety and Creating Positive Experiences
One of the most valuable insights Dr. Larscheid offers is how to address dental anxiety, a common issue for both children and their parents. Dental visits can often be a source of fear, especially for young children, and negative experiences early on can lead to a lifetime of dental phobia.
In his book, Dr. Larscheid provides parents with practical advice on how to make dental visits a positive experience. He recommends preparing children for their first dental visit by explaining what to expect in simple terms and avoiding words like "pain" or "hurt" that could trigger anxiety. Parents are encouraged to read books or watch videos about visiting the dentist, role-play dental checkups at home, and even bring a favorite toy or blanket to help their child feel more comfortable during the appointment.
Dr. Larscheid stresses that regular dental checkups are key to preventing anxiety because they help children view the dentist as a positive part of maintaining their health. Routine visits, starting from age one, allow the dentist to monitor the development of a child’s teeth and address any potential issues early on. By fostering a relationship of trust with the dentist, children are less likely to fear future visits.
Orthodontic Care and Preparing for Adolescence
As children grow older, their dental needs evolve, particularly as they enter adolescence. Dr. Larscheid’s book provides parents with an overview of common dental issues that may arise during this period, such as misaligned teeth, crowding, or overbites, all of which may require orthodontic care.
Dr. Larscheid helps parents navigate the often daunting process of braces and orthodontics by explaining the different treatment options available, including traditional braces, clear aligners, and retainers. He breaks down the signs that may indicate a need for orthodontic intervention, such as difficulty biting or chewing, crooked teeth, or significant gaps between teeth. Dr. Larscheid also emphasizes the importance of early orthodontic evaluations, which can help identify issues that may be easier to correct with early treatment.
Preparing for Wisdom Teeth and Beyond
Wisdom teeth are another concern that many parents face as their children transition into young adulthood. In his book, Dr. Larscheid explains when and why wisdom teeth may need to be removed, and what parents can expect during the process. He offers detailed guidance on preparing for wisdom teeth removal, managing pain, and ensuring a smooth recovery, equipping parents with the knowledge to support their teens through this milestone.
Conclusion: Equipping Parents for Lifelong Dental Success
Dr. Daniel Larscheid’s Ultimate Guide To Children's Dental Health is an empowering resource that provides parents with the tools they need to ensure their child’s oral health from infancy through adolescence. With expert tips, practical advice, and actionable strategies, Dr. Larscheid guides parents in fostering healthy habits that will lead to a lifetime of bright smiles and strong teeth. By following the expert advice in this book, parents can confidently support their child’s dental development, from teething to teenage orthodontics and beyond, setting them up for lifelong dental success

Achieving a Sparkling Smile: Essential Tips for Kids' Oral Health.
A sparkling smile not only lights up a room but also reflects good oral health. For children, maintaining that dazzling smile is crucial, not just for appearance but for overall well-being. At kidloo, we believe in fostering healthy dental habits from an early age to ensure your child's smile remains bright and healthy. Here’s how you can help your child achieve and maintain a sparkling smile.
Tumblr media
Start Early with Good Oral Hygiene
The foundation of a sparkling smile begins with early oral care. As soon as your child’s first tooth appears, it’s time to start brushing. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a tiny smear of fluoride toothpaste. This early introduction to oral hygiene helps your child get used to the routine and makes it easier to establish long-term habits.
Teach Proper Brushing Techniques
Teaching your child the correct brushing technique is essential for maintaining a sparkling smile. Encourage brushing twice a day—once in the morning and once before bed. Show them how to brush in gentle, circular motions to clean all surfaces of their teeth. Make sure they also brush their tongue and the gum line to remove bacteria and prevent bad breath.
Incorporate Flossing into the Routine
Flossing is a crucial part of oral hygiene that helps remove plaque and food particles from between the teeth, areas that a toothbrush can’t reach. Introduce flossing once your child has two teeth that touch. Start with floss picks if traditional floss is challenging for them to handle. Make flossing a fun activity to encourage regular use.
Limit Sugary Foods and Drinks
Sugar is a major contributor to tooth decay, which can tarnish your child’s sparkling smile. Limit their intake of sugary snacks and drinks, such as candies, sodas, and fruit juices. Instead, offer healthy snacks like fresh fruits, vegetables, and yogurt. Drinking water, especially after meals, can help rinse away food particles and reduce the risk of cavities.
Schedule Regular Dental Checkups
Routine dental visits are essential for keeping your child’s smile sparkling. Schedule checkups every six months to ensure their teeth are developing correctly and to catch any potential issues early. Regular cleanings and professional advice from a pediatric dentist will help maintain their oral health and prevent future problems.
Choose the Right Dental Products
Selecting the right dental products can make a significant difference in your child’s oral care routine. Kidloo offers a range of dental care products designed specifically for children. Our toothpaste and toothbrushes are made with kids’ needs in mind, ensuring effective cleaning while being gentle on their teeth and gums. Look for products that have been approved by dental professionals for added reassurance.
Make Brushing Fun
Creating a positive brushing experience can help establish lifelong habits. Turn tooth brushing into a fun activity by using colorful, character-themed toothbrushes, and toothpaste with appealing flavors. Play a favorite song or use a timer to make brushing time enjoyable. Some parents even use brushing charts and rewards to encourage their kids to brush regularly.
Model Good Oral Hygiene
Children often mimic the behavior of adults, so set a good example by practicing excellent oral hygiene yourself. Brush and floss your teeth alongside your child to show them that these habits are important for everyone. Your enthusiasm and commitment to oral health will inspire them to follow suit.
Educate on the Importance of a Sparkling Smile
Help your child understand why maintaining a sparkling smile is important. Explain how good oral hygiene prevents tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath. Make learning about oral health engaging by using books, videos, or even educational games that emphasize the benefits of a bright, healthy smile.
Stay Consistent
Consistency is key to achieving and maintaining a sparkling smile. Encourage your child to stick to their oral care routine, even when it feels like a chore. Reinforce the importance of daily brushing, flossing, and healthy eating habits to ensure they develop a routine that becomes second nature.
Conclusion
A sparkling smile is a reflection of good oral health and a result of consistent, effective dental care. By starting early, teaching proper techniques, and making oral hygiene fun, you can help your child develop habits that will ensure their smile remains bright and healthy. At kidloo, we are committed to supporting you in your journey to keep your child’s smile sparkling. Explore our range of child-friendly dental products and resources to make oral care an enjoyable part of your family’s routine.
