working on a farm and going to a secondhand equipment auction to try to find a part you need replaced on one of your machines, and some guy has a combat drone all folded up in the back of his truck
it's powered off, of course. the guy says he doesn't even know how to fix it, says it just crashed in his backyard during the war, what, 40-odd years ago? and he just threw it in storage and hasn't touched it since, and his wife says he has to get rid of it, so he'll sell it for cheap if you're interested.
you figure, what the hell, you need a side project, and it might be interesting to refurbish it or whatever, so you buy it, lugging the heavy fucker into your own vehicle
you throw it up on a hoist and manage to power it on, half scared it'll try to kill you, but it just hangs there, limp except for its head turning to create a 3d model of your face to recognize you by. it looks almost... human, in a way. its head is a mess of sensors where its face should be, all wired down to its torso where it keeps its processor, and the stabilizers on its feet that prevent recoil from a heavy weapon knocking it over resemble claws, but it otherwise resembles a tall, lanky human to an eerie degree. it doesn't speak. you figure something in it must be busted. it doesn't move at all as you take it off the hoist and lay it down on the ground.
you leave it in the barn when you go to bed. it'd be preposterous for a machine to sleep in the house, even if it is a moderately human-shaped one. it'll be fine out there.
when you come back the next morning, you're surprised to see it curled up, not sleeping but emulating it, in a pile of hay it must have brought down from the loft. strange, since it shouldn't have any necessity for more comfort than the cold concrete floor would provide. it powers on when you approach, turning to look at you but otherwise not moving.
it doesn't talk for a week.
when it does, it's one word. you have it open on a workbench, arm buried deep in its mechanical guts. its speakers crackle to life just for the one word and then shut off again, startling you enough that you jump and then swear as your hand slams into the metal frame, cutting a knuckle open - then you process what it just said.
it was a name.
you ask if she wants to sleep in the house after that. she doesn't answer, but follows obediently like a trained dog, up the stairs and into your bedroom, mimicking your motions as you lay down in bed and she lays down next to you. you flick the light off, worried about the non-zero possibility that you've fucked up and her programming will reset when she wakes up and immediately target you as a threat. then you fall asleep.
you wake up with the combat drone pressed into you, cool metal arms wrapped around your torso, sensor array pressed into your shoulder. she doesn't snore, but her cooling system whirs quietly and you realize your body is warming her own.
you don't know what makes you kiss her forehead. you just sort of do it. but she makes a cute humming noise so maybe it was an okay thing to do.

Following directives in the sense of authority and higher order is something Barricade as weaponised and wielded against any who oppose the decepticon cause,
He comes from a frame line built for dedication, unrelenting and ruthlessness in the name of the mission.
Which is why he finds himself towed to auction after being snitched to local ‘human’ authorities by his target, Samuel witwicky aka ladiesman217, for stalking and empersonating a police vehicle. Which he would gladly showcase just how powerful of an enforcer he was if it wasn’t vital to the mission to infiltrate and lay low. Even if that ment begrudgingly though not easily allowing humans to strip his modifications and detailing to make him sellable to auction like some common car from a bust.
It just happened to feel like the biggest stroke of fate that ladiesman217 was easily suggestable and dumb enough to give into the weakness of “wouldn’t it be funny” to be convinced by friend and a good deal to buy Barricade at a police auction.
The objective practically slid into his car seat to the purr of a killer engine
Tumblr media
And now they talk shit about the obnoxiously loud and bright yellow camero that’s been spotted around town

Can I get Noah X Female Autobot reader. Where Noah had a car way before he met Mirage, but it didn't really last long and after a while it didn't start anymore. Then when Noah brought Mirage to the garage, Mirage looks at the car for a second before telling Noah about you, and smiling and giving you the 'okay' to transform. Then the reader goes to her regular form (slightly taller than Mirage), yawns and looks around before saying something along the lines of "Finally. About fucking time…" Then she notices Noah, picks him up and she glared at Mirage, "Prime better have approved of this, Mirage. Or else…"
Warnings: Swearing.
When Optimus told you to hide away, you never expected to become a regular mode of transport for humans. You had taken form of a vehicle you thought was simple and plain enough, and stayed parked in a warehouse. You assumed it would be safe, humans had not used the warehouse for years.
Unfortunately what you didn't realize, was if humans didn't use buildings they were soon destroyed. Thank Primus humans examined the building first before knocking it down. They found you inside, towing you away. Being towed is an experience you never wish to experience again, but you had to endure it. Optimus made it very clear not to be seen and let your identity be known. So you allowed yourself to be dragged through the streets, a hook uncomfortably attached to your rear frame.
You were taken to an auction yard. There you allowed so much more happen to you, for the sake of obeying Optimus. You let them break into you, you let them clean you, you let them make a key that worked for your 'ignition'. In reality you just turned yourself on whenever they stuck that piece of metal into an empty space around your steering wheel.
You then allowed them to write a number on your window and show you off to other humans. It didn't take long to realize they were trying to sell you off. You watched humans arrive, get shown a car, then drive the car away obviously the new owners. Some humans looked fine and normal, but others looked disgusting, and every day you prayed to Primus they would not be the ones to buy you.
After a couple days it happened. The salesman walked over to you, showing you off to another human.
This one didn't look too bad, his appearance was clean and he asked a lot of questions that made it seem like he knew a thing or two about cars. You could work with this one.
The human bought you.
"Congratulations Mr Diaz, I know you'll be very happy with this one." The salesman said, handing over the keys.
"Thanks." Mr Diaz took the keys, got into you and turned the key in the ignition. You turned yourself on, running smoothly and allowed the human inside you to drive you away.
You liked this one. Noah. You found out his name after being shown off to his friends, they congratulated Noah on the new car. They all asked for rides, which he declined saying he wants to keep his car new looking for a little while. You liked that, it seemed like Noah was going to take care of you and you were happy about that.
He stayed true to his word, keeping you new looking for as long as he owned you. He regularly washed you, and never let anyone eat inside you, even his brother. Noah cared for you and kept you safe, even doing his best to park you carefully so no one will accidently scratch you.
After months of such good treatment, Noah became your favorite human and you began to look forward to him driving you. You liked to listen to his music, you liked to learn about his likes and dislikes as he talked to his friends. You began to love the way he talked to himself, and how he talked to you. He thought of you as just a car, but he treated you as more than one. He talked to you while he washed you, he explained where he was going, promising not to leave you parked alone for too long. His voice became a comfort, something you enjoyed and wished you could hear all the time.
And you couldn't deny the fact you enjoyed his gentle touches. Even when he was mad, he never took it out on you, and if he gripped the steering wheel too tightly he'd loosen it and give your wheel a little tap, as if apologizing. He was your driver, your human, and you thanked Primus he was the one who got you.
You really didn't mean to stop working. You were happy with Noah, and you would have been happy to be his car forever. Unfortunately it just didn't work out. It was an accident, you knew it was, but it still sucked.
One particular night, Noah took you to a scrap yard. He was picking up some pieces for his side projects. Your headlights were working fine, and he was paying attention, but neither of you noticed the piece of metal hidden among the dust on the floor. That was until you ran over it. The sharp jagged edge of the metal flying up and connecting with one of your hoses, oil immediately beginning to leak out. You almost yelped out in surprise, but managed to catch yourself. Noah immediately got out and inspected the damage.
"Shit. I'm sorry, I didn't see it. Damn, well I guess I need to go find a new hose for you huh? Don't worry, I'll get this patched up." Noah explained, patting your side gently.
You wanted to tell him not to worry about it, that you would fix yourself. But you couldn't. You had often thought about telling Noah about yourself, letting him in on the secret. But Optimus' words rang through your processor and you ultimately decided not to. So you kept quiet, and you would stay quiet even letting Noah fix you even though he didn't need to.
It took a day. Noah replaced the hose, drained out all your oil, then replaced it with brand new oil. Which for any normal car would have been great. Unfortunately for you, it was not the typical oil you were used to. It was Earth oil, made of slightly different stuff. And though technically it did work with your systems, it wasn't the same as your old Cybertronian oil. It made you feel more sluggish and slow, and not at full attention. It was going to take a while for systems to get used to the new oil. It was possible for your systems to learn how to appropriately use this new oil, but that was the problem, it would take a while.
Your performance while driving began to change, you couldn't reach the speeds you used to, and you wouldn't turn on as quickly as before. Noah noticed and tried to fix these problems but couldn't. What you really needed, was to let your systems figure themselves out. Noah had a family trip coming up, he was going to be gone for a whole weekend. It was a risk, but you decided to sleep, hoping your systems would take in the Earth oil and reboot so you could be used to it. So, the day he left, you let yourself go into recharge.
~~
"Come on. Come on, turn on." Noah begged, turning the key in the ignition. The starter clicked, but nothing. He tried one more time, turning the key.
'Click, click, click'
Nothing. The engine didn't roar to life, no matter how hard he tried his car would not start.
"Dammit." He cursed. This was his car, his first car. He wanted to keep it around. He knew it was having problems, but he didn't realize it was this bad. He sighed in disappointment. "I guess this means I'm walking again huh." He tried to laugh, gently holding the steering wheel. He was going to miss this car.
~~~
"So, this is where the magic happens huh?" Mirage asked as they pulled up to the garage.
"I guess you could say that." Noah chuckled. "I would call it magic, other people would call it a garage full of hopes and dreams and scrap."
"Well let me see, maybe I could help you with the scrap."
Noah opened the large garage door, allowing Mirage to drive in. Mirage saw you almost instantly.
"Well, look who we have here." He said in surprise, he hadn't heard from you since they landed on Earth. He was a little worried you had not answered Optimus' call, but he stayed hopeful you were alright. And here you are. Noah stepped out of Mirage, taking off his coat and placing it on his chair. Once the door was closed Mirage transformed and stepped closer to you.
"So this is where you've been hiding?" Mirage asked you. Noah looked at Mirage in confusion, then looked at you.
"Uh, who are you talking to?" He asked.
"Them of course." Mirage pointed to you.
"My old car? They're not a bot." Noah paused. "Are they?"
"Sure they are. Oh, but this doesn't mean all cars are. I guess you're just lucky, getting two bots." Mirage laughed then crouched down by your side. He poked your hood.
"You can get up now."
"They haven't started in ages. That's why they're in here, I've been trying to figure out how to start them again." Noah explained.
"Hm." Mirage pondered, occasionally poking you. He checked your EM field, feeling that you were in recharge. He laughed then gave you a friendly shock to wake you up.
Your systems had finished rebooting themselves ages ago, but it had not woken you up. A slight fault in your processor, much the same as a human sleeping through their alarm. You felt the shock, and recognized it from your friend Mirage. You could feel his own EM, telling yours it was safe. So out of instinct you transformed. You stretched out, letting your joints expand after being stuck in alt mode for so long.
"About fucking time." You said, briefly forgetting where you were. Your optics came online. They spotted Mirage, then scanned the area around you, finally coming to land on Noah. Your memory banks sparked, and everything came quickly back, loading your processor with what had happened. You remembered Noah, your owner. And you remembered going into recharge. How long had you been out for? That question was not important right now. You turned your attention to Mirage, slightly looking down at him.
"Prime better have approved this Mirage, or we're going to have problems." You stated, resting your servos on your hips.
"Relax it's all good. Prime knows about all of this. This is Noah, but I have a feeling you already know that." Mirage smiled. You looked down at Noah and smiled. You knew Noah, you knew him very well. More than he knew of you. As if he was an old friend, you picked him up, lifting him to your optic level.
"Hi Noah." You smiled.
"Hey." He said, a little unsure of the situation. He was trying to process the thought of his first car being an Autobot this whole time.
"I wanted to introduce myself before, but Prime's orders were very strict." You explained.
"I get that." Noah nodded. "My question I want to know is, why did you stop working?" He asked, and you could have sworn you heard a bit of sadness in his voice. Your spark ached, you had not wanted to stop working. You gently put Noah back down and crouched down to his level.
"I'm so sorry about that, it wasn't my intention at all. Remember that leak? When we ran over that piece of metal at the scrap yard?" You asked. Noah nodded. "Well, you replaced my oil with Earth oil. Which technically bots can use, but it takes us some time to get use to it. When you went away, I tried to rest and let my systems adjust themselves. I guess I went into recharge and didn't notice you were trying to start me again. I'm sorry." You explained. You were sad, you had wanted to be the first bot Noah ever saw. But it seems that title was taken by Mirage. You were happy to know Noah could see you now, but you were still disappointed.
"It's ok." Noah stepped close to you, placing a hand ontop of your servo. He looked up at you and smiled. "I'm just glad you're ok. Knowing your a bot, and your alive it makes up for it all. I was just worried you were never going to work again and I would have to-" He stopped himself before saying, 'get rid of you'. As if he couldn't say it.
"You kept me in here this whole time?" You asked. Looking around the garage.
"Yeah." Noah admitted, his face getting a little red. Your spark swelled. He kept you, he really kept you. Probably trying his best to fix you. It hurt because you wish you hadn't put him through that, but it showed you that he cared about you. And that made you feel happy.
"This is great, my old friend, my new friend, now we can all be bros and hang together." Mirage cheered. You and Noah laughed.
"I am quite interested to know how your first experience was seeing one of us." You stated.
"Oh that's such a good story, so there I was right. Just chilling in this nice garage." Mirage started.
"Uh Mirage." You stopped him.
"Yeah?"
"As much as I missed you, and it's nice to see you. I think I would like to hear this story from Noah."
"You hearing this? It's been years since we've seen each other but now you're in the picture I'm pushed to the side." Mirage acted hurt, but he understood. He could see the way the two of you looked at each other, he could feel the energy in the room. Old friends reunited, and it wasn't him and you. "Fine, go ahead Noah." Mirage made himself at home, finding a place to sit where he could watch as you and Noah caught up.
You and Noah talked for hours. You had sat down, then picked Noah up and placed him on your knee. He sat comfortably on your leg, a hand on your metal, looking up at you as he talked. He told you all about his experiences after meeting Mirage. You told him all about your history, about everything you went through up until the point he bought you.
"So, after I bought you. You were with me through everything?" Noah asked.
"Yep." You nodded.
"You could hear me talking?"
"I could, and I enjoyed it. You kept me company, even if you didn't realize you were." You smiled. Noah smiled too, patting your leg gently. Then his smile wavered slightly as he remembered something.
"You were there for the car washes huh?" He asked blushing. You laughed.
"I was yes. I appreciate how well you clean, I always looked beautiful and brand new afterwards." Your words made Noah smile.
"Yeah I do a pretty good job." There was a brief silence between the two of you.
"Noah. I want to apologize once more. I didn't realize I would be gone for so long."
"Hey, it's ok, you don't have to apologize. It was my fault. I shouldn't have put different oil in you." Noah expressed.
"But you didn't know. Because I didn't tell you. I should have trusted you and shown myself to you."
"It's fine that you didn't. I understand why. And I mean, look where we are now. Sure maybe you weren't my first bot. But you were my first car, and that will always be something special for me." Noah looked up at you, a grin on his face.
"And you will always be my favourite human." You smiled in return. "And I look forward to the future, and getting to know you, for real this time."
"Aw, you guys are so cute." Mirage commented. You had almost forgotten he was there. "Us three will have a lot of fun together I'm sure."
Sure, you probably did have to include Mirage too. But you didn't mind. You were just happy to be back with Noah. And now you could fully enjoy his company, and become real friends getting to know each other properly.
Ko-fi prompt from royaltrashpanda:
Saw your answer about why car dealerships tend to be in the same geographic area of a city. In my childhood neighborhood, we had a street with like ten used car lots all in a row on five blocks, and I’ve always wondered how that worked. They were much smaller than a standard dealership, and not all of them had repair shops attached. (Unfortunately that area has majorly gentrified and there’s none left on the original five blocks.) Based on your dealership research, what would be your take on tiny used car lots all being on the same five blocks? Also kind of related but not really, have you run into anything in your research about the history of the giant statues of men in suits that used car lots tend to have? If you have, I’d very much like to commission another question later about that topic because I’m so curious and have had no luck researching it myself!
My guess would be that they have a higher profit margin since they can probably leverage purchasing in their favor when buying those secondhand cars (especially from things like police auctions), and they can have a fairly consistent and predictable level of demand (there's almost always a new crop of teenagers getting licenses, without the cash for a brand new model), while the clustering strategy probably works even better when your business model appeals directly to a secondhand market where you might have a wide variety within one lot.
But let's see what the research says.
According to website CarEdge, some secondhand dealerships can have average profit margins as in excess of $4k. Now, that's probably skewed by some secondhand cars being luxury vehicles; there's a reason Carvana is topping that list, and most people do seem Carvana's prices on newer, low-mileage models are actually too high. The others are more like 1.5-2k profit margins, which is still respectable.
Granted, these are large dealership groups, rather than small, privately-owned businesses. Independent used car dealerships are looking at a gross profit margin of something like 10-20% depending on how well people bargain with the dealer, according to website ProfitableVenture. After the costs of owning and running the dealership (wages, mortgage, insurance, taxes, etc), there is about 2-3% left for the owner.
I actually want to quote this paragraph from them, as I feel like it's pretty informative on the issue:
The average amount of money that a car dealer makes per used car today is around $500 to $3,000 per car, with your typical run-of-the-mill used cars selling for about $2,500 to $5,000. Have in mind that profit margins on used cars are narrower than they have been in the past due to more information is available. Keeping profit margins a secret is what allows dealerships to take advantage of customers.
Now, that explains how they stay afloat, but the clustering?
...it really does come down to the same reasons as the regular car dealerships, but with the lens of anticipated costs. If you are a parent helping your teenager buy a used car, because they want your opinion and you're better at haggling than they are, then you want to make sure they get both the best possible deal, and the best/safest car possible... but also, you have work in the morning, and do not want to drive twenty minutes to each used car lot. You want to either be able to look up all the options on the internet, or hop from one lot to the next in the span of two minutes. Even with the internet, you want to do a test drive, no?
You also said that none of those dealerships exist anymore, which means they also predate the internet option. Being small means they had to sell fewer cars to stay open, but also that they didn't have the luxury of being a wide enough selection for people to do a cost-benefit analysis of coming to visit them with the expectation of finding a car when they might be able to see more options at that dealership that's only a block away from the other one. Without the internet, especially, their advertising would be limited to car commercials and newspaper ads.
(My thoughts go to Big Bill Hell's Cars and that Tobey Maguire Spidey scene where the used car from the newspaper is doing powerpoint transitions across the screen.)
So the clustering tactic is even more important, in that case. The only way to get your products in front of eyeballs is traditional media and in person, and it's a lot easier to make 'in person' happen if they're already headed to the neighbor.
APH America "Ethnography" and Headcanons (SFW)
The United States of America, Alfred F. Jones, Mr. Stars and Stripes, 'Merica, Pretty Boy, um... or just simply America.
Here is a list of data I have gathered from this country and oh boy, what an interesting specimen we have here....
Ethnography
You will find this find this mythological creature at your local Walmart superstore during the evening hours on a weekday, sporting flannel loungewear pants (The plaid kind), a cotton t-shirt that definitely has been worn no less than two (2) times, Old Navy $1 flip flops, and a gray jacket.
When asked about his late night runs to the popular supermarket chain, his answer is just simply:
"There's nothing else to do and no where to go."
America's Cart Inventory for March 22nd:
One (1) package of "Mega Stuf Chocolate Oreos" for $5.97, One (1) 6-Pack of "Starbucks Frappuccino Chilled Coffee Drinks" in Caramel Flavor for $7.98, One (1) Family Sized Bag of "Flaming Hot Cheetos" for $5.94, One (1) "Furby Interactive Toy" for $39.19, and One (1) Stick of " Axe Apollo Men's Deodorant Stick" for $4.97. Total of purchase was $64.05 before tax.
When questioned about the "Furby Interactive Toy", he replies:
"Yeah dude, there's this thing I wanna make that's called a "Long Furby". Wanna come by my place and check it out?"
I agreed to the invination as it would give me a better look into his living space and lifestyle. He's very friendly person.
Living Space (Home):
Oh dear god, why did I agree to come here?
House is a what you would expect from a typical American college student such as:
"Saturdays Are For The Boys" banner flag, Marvel and DC posters, a very unsettling looking blue leather couch that looks like it has been through hell and back, random dumbbells and untouched exercise equipment, every game console from the 1972 "The Magnavox Odyssey" to the PS5, action figures from various popular TV shows and comics, an old KFC bucket with half eaten chicken on the coffee table and a shelf with a huge vinyl record and CD collection.
Conclusion: What a fucking gross nerd.
America offers a cold can of Coca-Cola, I accept it.
He shows me a very long light blue "Long Furby" from his collection, further proving how much of a dork he was.
When asked what kind of music he liked (in regards to his music collection), he replies:
"That's hard to answer, it changes every week. Because of my diverse music, I pretty much like everything. One week I could be listening to 1980's classic rock, 2000's techno-pop, Bluegrass Country, 1990's Hip Hop or anything. But, if I had to give you this week's favorite artist, it would have to be Taylor Swift and Doja Cat."
"Interesting..." I replied.
I have recorded enough data for today (the smell was bothering me) and left his home to do further extensive research.
Headcanons:
America has a deep love for cars and trucks, he can be seen working on his vintage 1968 Dodge Charger R/T called 'Thunderbird' (an absolute speed demon that can reach at top speeds of muthafuckin' 156 mph), and his enormous 2019 Ford F-150 'Big John' that he loves to drive to world meetings because he is a total stud muffin showoff.
Oh yeah, he defiantly modded 'Big John' horns with airblasters. So when he parks his car and he sees other nations come out of their vehicles, he pounds on that horn and scares the living shit out of them.
He totally does 2 am donuts in the Thunderbird the front of Walmart parking lots with his brother Canada to freak him out.
Other than seeing him work on his cars while listening to "Waking Up in Vegas by Katy Perry" on the radio, he's in his room sorting out his action figure and comic book collection.
Damn, what what a geek.
He has an eBay account where he buys, trades and auctions his collection as his interests constantly change.
If you think him being a geek, dork and a nerd is gonna save him from getting a basic ass Stanley cup, you're wrong.
He has a navy blue one that he takes to meetings and he would get dirty looks from the other nations.
"Goddamn it America, you do not need that much coffee."
"Fuck you, you scone sucking twink. It's not coffee, it's the Panera Super Charged Lemonade mixed with Redbull."
"I beg your fucking pardon..."
He gave Canada a red one for his birthday that he also takes with him to meetings.
"Canada, mon ami~. That better not be that merde American drinks that makes your heart explode."
"No, it's Tim Hortons iced coffee."
"Well.. that's better than what America drinks..."
Nicholas II and his cars
Nicholas II did not rush into the "motor" craze. For two years, he took rides on the car owned by Lt. General A.A. Mossolov until Nicholas' Minister, Count Fredericks, asked the Tsar if he wanted to acquire a motorcar. The Tsar responded quickly: "Yes, of course!
The Tsar fell in love with the automobile. The first car he purchased was a French Delaunay-Belleville which was the Tsar's choice for short trips and in-town use. He liked the German-built Mercedes for long trips…and speed.
The Imperial Garages were established in 1905 in Tsarskoe Selo and Peterhof. Later, garages were added in the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg and Livadia Palace in Crimea. There was a budget to maintain the Imperial Garages, which included money to purchase vehicles, training of the drivers (who were responsible for driving and fixing, and maintaining the cars), washers, uniforms for the staff and the brick-and-mortar buildings where the cars were housed. The vehicles served the Tzar, the Empress, the Imperial children, and their suite.
Whenever the Tzar went out in one of his cars (for business or personal matters), another car had to follow him. Security always annoyed Nicholas, more so when driving his cars (a chauffeur did that most of the time.) When Nicholas drove, he loved to speed, of course.
Like any boy, his age, Alexei got into the "motor" craze! (On the left he seems to be trying to learn how to change a tire). In the photo on top, he is driving a small car, his Peaugot "Bebe"
Cars gave Count Fredericks, Nicholas' court minister, many headaches. He had a difficult time getting Nicholas to buy his first car, but then he could not make him stop getting new ones. Nicholas bought his first car in 1905. By 1917, he had 56 cars in his garages…more than any other European Court.
Tumblr media
Nicholas II ordered this car, a classic 1914-built Rolls Royce Ghost, the year before he was murdered; it is not known if or how long he used the car. It was bought by a collector at auction for an extraordinary amount.
Imagine: the excitement of the hunt, the excitement of a bet, and the opportunity to leave with a good deal. Buying a car at a car auction takes some preparation and research, but the reward is well worth the chance to drive the car at a super-affordable price. On some online auctions, such as A Better Bid, you can get a good model like ford bronco 1964 at a very affordable price.
Buying a car at auction? In person or online, what will you choose - state or public auction? But wait, before you hit the auction or log into your laptop, let's talk about best practices. First, where do these cars come from? And more importantly, how do you ensure that you are making a smart investment? There are some very cool events going on at car auctions where you can bid on cars and get great deals. Some auctions are exclusive to car dealers, but others are open to the public and you can find them all over the country. In fact, there are tons of them in many states. And the best part: you don't even have to leave your home to participate! It's like buying a house without even setting foot in it. So why not give it a try and see what rides you can get!
Are you looking to spice up your online shopping experience? Why not try attending an online auction! Of course, this option may not be for the indecisive or picky shopper, but it's definitely worth a shot. Some auctions even allow you to bring a mechanic to check out the vehicle beforehand, but beware of those that keep the VIN a secret - that's usually a red flag. Add some excitement to your online shopping and give an auction a try! Have you ever wondered how cars end up at auction? It's not always because of a terrible accident or a car's last breath. In fact, some cars are there because rental companies or financial services firms just didn't want them anymore. And, during the pandemic, rental companies were selling off their vehicle fleets in droves. Another reason cars end up at auction is because they were seized or repossessed by banks, the IRS, or other government agencies.
Stepping up to the auction car buying game? You might be wondering how to get into those closed-off auctions. Well, without a dealer license, it's a no-go. But don't get discouraged - there are plenty of public options for you to explore. If you're going for an in-person auction, make sure to do your homework first. Each auction has its own unique rules and caters to different markets.
What Is Vehicle Remarketing?
Tumblr media
Vehicle remarketing is a type of business that includes selling and buying used vehicles. In other words, it is known as the controlled disposal or circulation of the fleet of rental or company vehicles that have passed their end terms. A lot of people get confused about vehicle remarketing with vehicle reselling and think they are the same thing. But it is not because vehicle remarketing is a business that usually deals with a large fleet of vehicles which requires large fleet operators. Moreover, vehicle remarketing involves refurbishing the fleet of vehicles and selling the used vehicles again in the market.
Now, you might wonder why vehicle remarketing is so important. Well, here you will get the answer to that question.
Why Is Vehicle Remarketing So Important In 2022?
If you own a vehicle and want to sell it, then it is obvious that you want the highest possible price you can get from it. And vehicle remarketing is one of the best way to get the highest possible return.
The value of the vehicle is more if the vehicle’s portfolio is great. And vehicle remarketing helps in moving your inventory quickly and more cost-effectively, which as a result, elevates the value of the vehicle’s portfolio.
Sometimes it is possible that after putting the vehicle up for sale, it might not be picked up for years. But, vehicle remarketing speed up the procedures and shortens the turnaround time.
The management of multiple providers is very important. And development and implementation of an effective marketing strategy is a part of the vehicle remarketing solution, which makes it easy to manage multiple providers.
Now you might wonder how vehicle remarketing works. Well, here is how
How Does Vehicle Remarketing Work?
Step-1
The first step in vehicle remarketing is choosing a channel. Choosing a good channel that will give the highest possible return is very important. In recent days, there have been a lot of sales channels because of the internet. Moreover, the channels have become very easy to reach out to because of the internet.
Here, one of the possible ways to choose a channel is to search for a local channel to sell it. But if you can get a wider number of possible buyers and a wider range of bidding prices on the internet, then why not go for it? Another awesome way to sell is to participate in national auctions; they can give you a higher bid for the vehicle. National auctions have a lot of advantages, such as-
National auctions are conducted at various geographical sites across the country. Having auctions at various locations can help you to get a higher bidding price. This can be done by identifying the location where the vehicle can get a high price by using the data.
National auctions provide support by handling the logistics of the vehicle’s inspection, valuation, and transportation of the vehicle to the auction site.
Step-2
The next step after choosing a channel and putting up the vehicle on sale is to wait. But you can track the status of progress of your vehicle till the date it gets sold. Therefore, there are a lot of technologies provided by the channels to track the activities.
Step-3
Vehicle remarketing strategies play a crucial role in the whole process. A lot of data is generated throughout the remarketing processes, which helps in developing an insight into the whole remarketing strategy. A lot of new technologies, such as vehicle remarketing software, are there to monitor the costs, trends, and performance. These data can be used collectively to maximize the return and improve the efficiency of the process. Let’s have a look at what trends, performance, and costs mean in vehicle remarketing.
Performance:
Performance data shows which auction or channel is providing high prices for the vehicles consistently.
Trends:
It means knowing which vehicle model is currently in demand and comparing various kinds of models. This helps to find the model which commands the highest price and also the price of other models as well.
Different models have different demands according to geographical locations. This data can be used to determine which vehicle will gain a higher price according to the location. This data can be useful for developing a pricing strategy by identifying the models and making where the vehicle model demand is declining or elevating.
Costs:
It is the cost of the vehicle, either on the offline or online channel or auction. Cost data can be helpful in determining the best channel by checking which channel is providing the best or worst cost-benefit ratios.
What Is The Significance Of Remarketing Experts?
You might wonder what the need for a vehicle remarketing expert is. Well, you might assume that you can manage the vehicle remarketing on your own, but when the volume of the vehicles is huge, you might lose your investment in the process. This is where the vehicle remarketing experts comes in handy; they have great significance in the remarketing field. A good remarketing expert can improve the efficiency of your whole vehicle remarketing process. This is how they can bring efficiency-
They have experience in coordinating with various established and reliable resources that can easily handle vehicle transportation, inspections, and refurbishing.
They are very cost-effective. They adopt various ways of incorporating economies of scale that are helpful in reducing costs at every stage of the vehicle remarketing process.
They are great at managing a great volume of vehicles efficiently. They do so by providing systems, experiences, and national networks.
It can also be said that a remarketing expert can introduce you to the seamless process where they can arrange everything from pick up to the sale. Likely, it can be an easy process with the help of an expert.
If you are looking for a vehicle remarketing expert that can help you in selling and buying used vehicles, then you need to consider the above-mentioned points and contact Brent Huisman.
Luxury Auto Auctions: How to Buy a High-End Car for Less
Have you ever dreamed of driving a Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, or Ferrari but thought they were out of your budget? What if I told you that owning a luxury car is more affordable than you think? Luxury auto auctions provide a unique opportunity to purchase high-end vehicles at a fraction of their retail price. Instead of paying full price at a dealership, you can bid on premium cars at auction and secure an incredible deal. But how do you know where to look and what to avoid? That’s where Herolot comes in—an excellent tool that helps buyers track upcoming auctions, analyze past sales, and find the best deals on luxury vehicles.
Tumblr media
Why Buy a Luxury Car at an Auction?
Buying a luxury car at an auction can save you thousands of dollars compared to buying from a dealership. Some high-end vehicles at auction are lease returns, repossessions, or surplus dealer inventory, meaning you can get a like-new car for a fraction of its retail price. ✔ Huge savings – Avoid dealership markups. ✔ Wide selection – Find rare and exotic models. ✔ Direct access to high-end vehicles – No middlemen.
Where to Find Luxury Auto Auctions
Finding the right auction is key. ✔ Copart & IAAI – Specialize in salvage and insurance vehicles. ✔ Manheim & ADESA – Dealer-exclusive auctions, but some allow public buyers. ✔ Herolot – Tracks upcoming luxury auto auctions across multiple platforms.
Types of Luxury Cars Available at Auctions
You’ll find everything from Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series to Porsche 911s and Bentley Continentals. Some auctions even feature supercars like Ferraris and Lamborghinis.
How Herolot Helps You Track the Best Deals
Instead of checking multiple auction websites daily, use Herolot to: ✔ Track upcoming luxury car listings. ✔ Compare past sales prices to know if you’re getting a deal. ✔ Get alerts when your dream car is available.
Public vs. Dealer-Only Luxury Car Auctions
Not all auctions are accessible to the public. ✔ Public Auctions – Open to all buyers, though selection may be limited. ✔ Dealer-Only Auctions – Require a dealer’s license but have better-condition cars.
Understanding Salvage vs. Clean Title Luxury Cars
Many auction vehicles come with salvage titles, meaning they were damaged, stolen, or written off by insurance companies. ✔ Salvage Title Cars – Often need repairs but can be bargains. ✔ Clean Title Cars – Typically more expensive but less risky.
What to Look for in a High-End Auction Vehicle
Before bidding on a luxury car, inspect the listing carefully. ✔ Service history and accident reports ✔ Mileage – lower isn’t always better ✔ Condition – frame damage or flood history?
How to Research a Luxury Car Before Bidding
Take time to research before you bid. ✔ Check past auction prices – Don’t overpay. ✔ Use Herolot to track trends – Some models hold value better. ✔ Watch similar cars to see their final bid prices.
Using a VIN Check to Avoid Costly Mistakes
A VIN check can uncover hidden issues. ✔ Title status – clean, salvage, rebuilt? ✔ Reported accidents or flood damage? ✔ Odometer rollbacks or fraud?
Bidding Strategies to Get the Best Price
Winning a luxury car auction requires a plan. ✔ Set a budget and don’t get emotional. ✔ Avoid bidding wars – wait until the last minute. ✔ Look for listings ending at odd hours for less competition.
Common Pitfalls to Avoid at Luxury Auto Auctions
Even seasoned buyers make mistakes. Avoid: ❌ Bidding too early and driving up the price. ❌ Skipping the VIN check and buying a problem car. ❌ Ignoring auction fees – they add up fast.
Success Stories: Buyers Who Scored Incredible Deals
Many buyers have saved tens of thousands on luxury cars at auctions. ✔ A Mercedes-Benz S-Class for 50% of retail price. ✔ A Porsche 911 for $20,000 less than dealership pricing. ✔ A Bentley Continental for under $50,000.
When Is the Best Time to Buy at an Auction?
Timing matters. ✔ December & January – Prices drop as demand slows. ✔ Midweek auctions – Fewer bidders mean lower prices. ✔ End of the month – Dealers offload unsold inventory.
Luxury Car Auction Fees and Hidden Costs
Be aware of extra costs. ✔ Buyer’s premium – A percentage of the final bid. ✔ Title & documentation fees. ✔ Transportation costs if buying from out of state.
Final Tips for Buying a High-End Car for Less
✔ Use Herolot to track future listings. ✔ Research vehicle history before bidding. ✔ Set a maximum budget and stick to it. Luxury auto auctions offer an incredible way to own a high-end car without breaking the bank. With the right strategy and the right tools like Herolot, you can land a luxury vehicle at an unbeatable price.
Car Buyers Advocate Sydney: Your Ultimate Guide to Hassle-Free Car Purchasing
Contact Us On: 0418 127 775
Buying a car can be overwhelming, especially if you're unfamiliar with the market, pricing, and negotiation tactics. This is where a Car Buyers Advocate Sydney comes into play. They act as your personal car-buying expert, ensuring you get the best deal without the stress.
In this article, we’ll explore what a car buyers advocate does, the benefits of hiring one, and how to choose the right advocate in Sydney.
Tumblr media
What is a Car Buyers Advocate?
A car buyers advocate (also known as a car broker) is a professional who assists individuals in purchasing a vehicle. They handle everything from searching for the right car, negotiating with dealers, inspecting the vehicle, and finalizing the purchase.
These advocates work for the buyer, not the dealer, which means their primary goal is to secure the best deal for you. Whether you’re buying a new or used car, their expertise ensures you don’t overpay or end up with a faulty vehicle.
Why You Need a Car Buyers Advocate Sydney
Sydney has a vast and competitive car market. Without experience, it's easy to fall into common traps such as paying too much, getting a poor trade-in deal, or buying a car with hidden issues. Here’s how a car buyers advocate can help:
1. Saves Time and Effort
Searching for the perfect car, visiting dealerships, and comparing prices can take weeks. A car buyers advocate does all the heavy lifting, presenting you with the best options based on your preferences and budget.
2. Expert Negotiation
Dealerships often use high-pressure sales tactics to maximize their profit. Advocates know industry secrets and negotiate directly with sellers to secure the lowest possible price.
3. Access to Exclusive Deals
Car buyers advocates have industry connections and access to wholesale deals, fleet discounts, and off-market vehicles that the general public may not be aware of.
4. Vehicle Inspection and History Checks
Many used cars come with hidden problems. A car buyers advocate ensures a thorough inspection and background check so you don’t end up with a lemon.
5. Avoiding Scams and Bad Deals
From misleading ads to tampered odometers, the car market can be risky. A car buyers advocate protects you from scams and ensures transparency in the deal.
How to Choose the Best Car Buyers Advocate Sydney
Not all car buying services are created equal. Here’s what to look for when choosing the right advocate:
1. Experience and Reputation
Look for an advocate with years of experience in the Sydney car market. Check online reviews, testimonials, and ratings to ensure they have a strong track record of success.
2. Transparent Fees
Some car buyers advocates charge flat fees, while others take commissions. Make sure their pricing structure is transparent, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
3. Services Offered
Some advocates specialize in new cars, while others focus on used vehicles. Ensure they offer the specific services you need, such as car inspections, trade-in assistance, or fleet discounts.
4. Customer Support
Communication is key when making a big purchase. Choose an advocate who is responsive, informative, and willing to answer all your questions.
5. Network and Industry Access
A well-connected advocate can get you access to dealer-only auctions, special promotions, and off-market cars that aren’t listed online.
Tumblr media
Steps Involved in the Car Buying Process with an Advocate
Step 1: Consultation
The advocate will discuss your budget, preferences, and requirements to understand what type of car suits your needs.
Step 2: Market Research
They will search for available options, compare pricing, and shortlist the best deals for you.
Step 3: Vehicle Inspection
If you’re buying a used car, the advocate will inspect the vehicle, check its history, and ensure it’s in good condition.
Step 4: Negotiation and Purchase
The advocate negotiates with sellers to get the best price and arranges the paperwork to finalize the purchase.
Step 5: Delivery or Pickup
Some services even arrange home delivery, ensuring a hassle-free experience.
How Much Does a Car Buyers Advocate Cost?
The cost of hiring a Car Buyers Advocate Sydney varies based on the service level:
Basic Consultation & Advice: $100 - $500
Full Car Buying Service (Including Negotiation & Inspection): $500 - $3,000
Luxury & Prestige Car Purchases: $3,000+
While this may seem like an added expense, the savings and peace of mind they provide often outweigh the cost.
Best Car Buyers Advocates in Sydney
If you’re looking for a reliable Car Buyers Advocate Sydney, here are a few highly-rated options:
Unlocking Salvage Car Auction Insights: Copart Vehicle Damage Reports, IAAI Auction Prices, and Final Bid Analysis
One needs to know the ins and outs of salvage car auctions in order to make an educated buy. Websites like Copart and Insurance Auto Auctions (IAAI) provide a large inventory of cars, but sifting through what they have requires a sharp eye and legitimate information. This is where Autobidinfo fills in, giving you advanced analytics to help you decipher Copart vehicle damage reports, analyze IAAI auction car prices, research Copart auction sales history, evaluate final bid prices at Copart and IAAI, and conduct in-depth salvage car price analysis.
Decoding Copart Vehicle Damage Reports
Copart provides extensive vehicle damage reports, an essential aspect of deciding the condition of a car before bidding. The reports grade damage as primary and secondary, and they identify the extent and location of issues. Interpreting the reports is often challenging due to dissimilarities in terminology and criteria used for grading.
Autobidinfo uses machine learning techniques to normalize and analyze these damage reports. From the patterns of damages and historical information, Autobidinfo is able to predict probable post-repair costs and vehicle prices. Through the ability to forecast, buyers can make wise purchases, eliminating or minimizing risks involved in acquiring salvage vehicles.
Processing IAAI Auction Car Prices
IAAI sales feature varied sets of cars with their own set of pricing conventions. It is necessary to interpret these conventions in case one will be able to identify appropriate investments. Autobidinfo aggregates data for completed sales, analyzing variables such as auto model, make, year, extent of damage, and sale values.
Through this analysis, Autobidinfo calculates price trends and benchmarks, allowing users to decide whether a listed vehicle is reasonably priced. It is particularly helpful for resellers and dealers who wish to stay profitable and provide customers with a reasonable price.
Learning about Copart Auction Sales History
A good understanding of a vehicle's auction history can reveal patterns that indicate its true condition and value. Autobidinfo mines deep into Copart auction sales history, tracking vehicles through multiple rounds of auctions.
This historical data can uncover red flags, such as cars frequently appearing in auctions, meaning unresolved issues. Conversely, it can uncover cars with minimal auction turnover, perhaps meaning higher quality or simpler restoration. By providing this context, Autobidinfo empowers customers to make informed decisions with historical data.
Examining Final Bid Prices on Copart and IAAI
A car's perceived market value at auction is realized in its final bid price, driven by a combination of demand, condition, and rarity. Autobidinfo examines IAAI and Copart final bid prices and relates them to vehicle description and market conditions.
This analysis helps to decide the discount or premium for specific vehicle features or types of damage. For instance, Autobidinfo can quantify the additional value that a restricted trim package adds, or by how much a specific type of damage reduces the value of a car. This information is invaluable for bidders who wish to optimize their investment approach.
Conducting Complete Salvage Car Price Analysis
Pricing a salvage car correctly relies on a balance of repair value, resale value, and demand in the market. Autobidinfo's salvage car price analysis considers these factors, giving a full picture of a car's economic viability.
Through some basic vehicle details, users receive an analysis which reflects estimated repair estimates, estimated post-repair value, and comparison of equivalent vehicles recently auctioned. The thorough strategy aids buyers from falling victim to shocking costs or artificially inflated resale value.
Utilizing Autobidinfo for Auction Success
In the highly competitive universe of salvage car auctions, information is power. Autobidinfo gives buyers the analytical tools to successfully maneuver this universe. By transforming raw data into usable intelligence, Autobidinfo enhances decision-making, mitigates risks, and discovers profitable opportunities.
Whether you are a seasoned oldtimer dealer or a new buyer, integrating Autobidinfo into your car auction plan will provide you with a significant advantage. With its focus on simplicity, accuracy, and customer empowerment, Autobidinfo is poised to become a key player in the arena of salvage car buying.
Conclusion
The salvage vehicle auction market is filled with potential, but it takes more than guesswork to exploit that potential—data-driven insight and sound decision-making are the keys. Autobidinfo leads the way in this revolution in analytics, providing the tools to break down the intricacies of auction data into easily understood, actionable information.
With the focus on major subjects such as Copart car damage reports, IAAI auction car values, Copart auction sales record, Copart and IAAI last bid prices, and salvage car price analysis, Autobidinfo is addressing the most basic needs of participants in auctions. Its general focus ensures that users are adequately equipped to deal with the intricacies of salvage car auctions, make intelligent purchasing decisions, and ultimately succeed in their automobile ventures.
Adding Autobidinfo to your auction arsenal not only improves your analytical power but also gives you confidence in your bidding tactics. Harness the power of information, tap into the know-how inherent in Autobidinfo, and revolutionize the way you bid on salvage car auctions.
