Following directives in the sense of authority and higher order is something Barricade as weaponised and wielded against any who oppose the decepticon cause,
He comes from a frame line built for dedication, unrelenting and ruthlessness in the name of the mission.
Which is why he finds himself towed to auction after being snitched to local ‘human’ authorities by his target, Samuel witwicky aka ladiesman217, for stalking and empersonating a police vehicle. Which he would gladly showcase just how powerful of an enforcer he was if it wasn’t vital to the mission to infiltrate and lay low. Even if that ment begrudgingly though not easily allowing humans to strip his modifications and detailing to make him sellable to auction like some common car from a bust.
It just happened to feel like the biggest stroke of fate that ladiesman217 was easily suggestable and dumb enough to give into the weakness of “wouldn’t it be funny” to be convinced by friend and a good deal to buy Barricade at a police auction.
The objective practically slid into his car seat to the purr of a killer engine

And now they talk shit about the obnoxiously loud and bright yellow camero that’s been spotted around town

Ko-fi prompt from royaltrashpanda:
Saw your answer about why car dealerships tend to be in the same geographic area of a city. In my childhood neighborhood, we had a street with like ten used car lots all in a row on five blocks, and I’ve always wondered how that worked. They were much smaller than a standard dealership, and not all of them had repair shops attached. (Unfortunately that area has majorly gentrified and there’s none left on the original five blocks.) Based on your dealership research, what would be your take on tiny used car lots all being on the same five blocks? Also kind of related but not really, have you run into anything in your research about the history of the giant statues of men in suits that used car lots tend to have? If you have, I’d very much like to commission another question later about that topic because I’m so curious and have had no luck researching it myself!
My guess would be that they have a higher profit margin since they can probably leverage purchasing in their favor when buying those secondhand cars (especially from things like police auctions), and they can have a fairly consistent and predictable level of demand (there's almost always a new crop of teenagers getting licenses, without the cash for a brand new model), while the clustering strategy probably works even better when your business model appeals directly to a secondhand market where you might have a wide variety within one lot.
But let's see what the research says.
According to website CarEdge, some secondhand dealerships can have average profit margins as in excess of $4k. Now, that's probably skewed by some secondhand cars being luxury vehicles; there's a reason Carvana is topping that list, and most people do seem Carvana's prices on newer, low-mileage models are actually too high. The others are more like 1.5-2k profit margins, which is still respectable.
Granted, these are large dealership groups, rather than small, privately-owned businesses. Independent used car dealerships are looking at a gross profit margin of something like 10-20% depending on how well people bargain with the dealer, according to website ProfitableVenture. After the costs of owning and running the dealership (wages, mortgage, insurance, taxes, etc), there is about 2-3% left for the owner.
I actually want to quote this paragraph from them, as I feel like it's pretty informative on the issue:
The average amount of money that a car dealer makes per used car today is around $500 to $3,000 per car, with your typical run-of-the-mill used cars selling for about $2,500 to $5,000. Have in mind that profit margins on used cars are narrower than they have been in the past due to more information is available. Keeping profit margins a secret is what allows dealerships to take advantage of customers.
Now, that explains how they stay afloat, but the clustering?
...it really does come down to the same reasons as the regular car dealerships, but with the lens of anticipated costs. If you are a parent helping your teenager buy a used car, because they want your opinion and you're better at haggling than they are, then you want to make sure they get both the best possible deal, and the best/safest car possible... but also, you have work in the morning, and do not want to drive twenty minutes to each used car lot. You want to either be able to look up all the options on the internet, or hop from one lot to the next in the span of two minutes. Even with the internet, you want to do a test drive, no?
You also said that none of those dealerships exist anymore, which means they also predate the internet option. Being small means they had to sell fewer cars to stay open, but also that they didn't have the luxury of being a wide enough selection for people to do a cost-benefit analysis of coming to visit them with the expectation of finding a car when they might be able to see more options at that dealership that's only a block away from the other one. Without the internet, especially, their advertising would be limited to car commercials and newspaper ads.
(My thoughts go to Big Bill Hell's Cars and that Tobey Maguire Spidey scene where the used car from the newspaper is doing powerpoint transitions across the screen.)
So the clustering tactic is even more important, in that case. The only way to get your products in front of eyeballs is traditional media and in person, and it's a lot easier to make 'in person' happen if they're already headed to the neighbor.

Can I get Noah X Female Autobot reader. Where Noah had a car way before he met Mirage, but it didn't really last long and after a while it didn't start anymore. Then when Noah brought Mirage to the garage, Mirage looks at the car for a second before telling Noah about you, and smiling and giving you the 'okay' to transform. Then the reader goes to her regular form (slightly taller than Mirage), yawns and looks around before saying something along the lines of "Finally. About fucking time…" Then she notices Noah, picks him up and she glared at Mirage, "Prime better have approved of this, Mirage. Or else…"
Warnings: Swearing.
When Optimus told you to hide away, you never expected to become a regular mode of transport for humans. You had taken form of a vehicle you thought was simple and plain enough, and stayed parked in a warehouse. You assumed it would be safe, humans had not used the warehouse for years.
Unfortunately what you didn't realize, was if humans didn't use buildings they were soon destroyed. Thank Primus humans examined the building first before knocking it down. They found you inside, towing you away. Being towed is an experience you never wish to experience again, but you had to endure it. Optimus made it very clear not to be seen and let your identity be known. So you allowed yourself to be dragged through the streets, a hook uncomfortably attached to your rear frame.
You were taken to an auction yard. There you allowed so much more happen to you, for the sake of obeying Optimus. You let them break into you, you let them clean you, you let them make a key that worked for your 'ignition'. In reality you just turned yourself on whenever they stuck that piece of metal into an empty space around your steering wheel.
You then allowed them to write a number on your window and show you off to other humans. It didn't take long to realize they were trying to sell you off. You watched humans arrive, get shown a car, then drive the car away obviously the new owners. Some humans looked fine and normal, but others looked disgusting, and every day you prayed to Primus they would not be the ones to buy you.
After a couple days it happened. The salesman walked over to you, showing you off to another human.
This one didn't look too bad, his appearance was clean and he asked a lot of questions that made it seem like he knew a thing or two about cars. You could work with this one.
The human bought you.
"Congratulations Mr Diaz, I know you'll be very happy with this one." The salesman said, handing over the keys.
"Thanks." Mr Diaz took the keys, got into you and turned the key in the ignition. You turned yourself on, running smoothly and allowed the human inside you to drive you away.
You liked this one. Noah. You found out his name after being shown off to his friends, they congratulated Noah on the new car. They all asked for rides, which he declined saying he wants to keep his car new looking for a little while. You liked that, it seemed like Noah was going to take care of you and you were happy about that.
He stayed true to his word, keeping you new looking for as long as he owned you. He regularly washed you, and never let anyone eat inside you, even his brother. Noah cared for you and kept you safe, even doing his best to park you carefully so no one will accidently scratch you.
After months of such good treatment, Noah became your favorite human and you began to look forward to him driving you. You liked to listen to his music, you liked to learn about his likes and dislikes as he talked to his friends. You began to love the way he talked to himself, and how he talked to you. He thought of you as just a car, but he treated you as more than one. He talked to you while he washed you, he explained where he was going, promising not to leave you parked alone for too long. His voice became a comfort, something you enjoyed and wished you could hear all the time.
And you couldn't deny the fact you enjoyed his gentle touches. Even when he was mad, he never took it out on you, and if he gripped the steering wheel too tightly he'd loosen it and give your wheel a little tap, as if apologizing. He was your driver, your human, and you thanked Primus he was the one who got you.
You really didn't mean to stop working. You were happy with Noah, and you would have been happy to be his car forever. Unfortunately it just didn't work out. It was an accident, you knew it was, but it still sucked.
One particular night, Noah took you to a scrap yard. He was picking up some pieces for his side projects. Your headlights were working fine, and he was paying attention, but neither of you noticed the piece of metal hidden among the dust on the floor. That was until you ran over it. The sharp jagged edge of the metal flying up and connecting with one of your hoses, oil immediately beginning to leak out. You almost yelped out in surprise, but managed to catch yourself. Noah immediately got out and inspected the damage.
"Shit. I'm sorry, I didn't see it. Damn, well I guess I need to go find a new hose for you huh? Don't worry, I'll get this patched up." Noah explained, patting your side gently.
You wanted to tell him not to worry about it, that you would fix yourself. But you couldn't. You had often thought about telling Noah about yourself, letting him in on the secret. But Optimus' words rang through your processor and you ultimately decided not to. So you kept quiet, and you would stay quiet even letting Noah fix you even though he didn't need to.
It took a day. Noah replaced the hose, drained out all your oil, then replaced it with brand new oil. Which for any normal car would have been great. Unfortunately for you, it was not the typical oil you were used to. It was Earth oil, made of slightly different stuff. And though technically it did work with your systems, it wasn't the same as your old Cybertronian oil. It made you feel more sluggish and slow, and not at full attention. It was going to take a while for systems to get used to the new oil. It was possible for your systems to learn how to appropriately use this new oil, but that was the problem, it would take a while.
Your performance while driving began to change, you couldn't reach the speeds you used to, and you wouldn't turn on as quickly as before. Noah noticed and tried to fix these problems but couldn't. What you really needed, was to let your systems figure themselves out. Noah had a family trip coming up, he was going to be gone for a whole weekend. It was a risk, but you decided to sleep, hoping your systems would take in the Earth oil and reboot so you could be used to it. So, the day he left, you let yourself go into recharge.
~~
"Come on. Come on, turn on." Noah begged, turning the key in the ignition. The starter clicked, but nothing. He tried one more time, turning the key.
'Click, click, click'
Nothing. The engine didn't roar to life, no matter how hard he tried his car would not start.
"Dammit." He cursed. This was his car, his first car. He wanted to keep it around. He knew it was having problems, but he didn't realize it was this bad. He sighed in disappointment. "I guess this means I'm walking again huh." He tried to laugh, gently holding the steering wheel. He was going to miss this car.
~~~
"So, this is where the magic happens huh?" Mirage asked as they pulled up to the garage.
"I guess you could say that." Noah chuckled. "I would call it magic, other people would call it a garage full of hopes and dreams and scrap."
"Well let me see, maybe I could help you with the scrap."
Noah opened the large garage door, allowing Mirage to drive in. Mirage saw you almost instantly.
"Well, look who we have here." He said in surprise, he hadn't heard from you since they landed on Earth. He was a little worried you had not answered Optimus' call, but he stayed hopeful you were alright. And here you are. Noah stepped out of Mirage, taking off his coat and placing it on his chair. Once the door was closed Mirage transformed and stepped closer to you.
"So this is where you've been hiding?" Mirage asked you. Noah looked at Mirage in confusion, then looked at you.
"Uh, who are you talking to?" He asked.
"Them of course." Mirage pointed to you.
"My old car? They're not a bot." Noah paused. "Are they?"
"Sure they are. Oh, but this doesn't mean all cars are. I guess you're just lucky, getting two bots." Mirage laughed then crouched down by your side. He poked your hood.
"You can get up now."
"They haven't started in ages. That's why they're in here, I've been trying to figure out how to start them again." Noah explained.
"Hm." Mirage pondered, occasionally poking you. He checked your EM field, feeling that you were in recharge. He laughed then gave you a friendly shock to wake you up.
Your systems had finished rebooting themselves ages ago, but it had not woken you up. A slight fault in your processor, much the same as a human sleeping through their alarm. You felt the shock, and recognized it from your friend Mirage. You could feel his own EM, telling yours it was safe. So out of instinct you transformed. You stretched out, letting your joints expand after being stuck in alt mode for so long.
"About fucking time." You said, briefly forgetting where you were. Your optics came online. They spotted Mirage, then scanned the area around you, finally coming to land on Noah. Your memory banks sparked, and everything came quickly back, loading your processor with what had happened. You remembered Noah, your owner. And you remembered going into recharge. How long had you been out for? That question was not important right now. You turned your attention to Mirage, slightly looking down at him.
"Prime better have approved this Mirage, or we're going to have problems." You stated, resting your servos on your hips.
"Relax it's all good. Prime knows about all of this. This is Noah, but I have a feeling you already know that." Mirage smiled. You looked down at Noah and smiled. You knew Noah, you knew him very well. More than he knew of you. As if he was an old friend, you picked him up, lifting him to your optic level.
"Hi Noah." You smiled.
"Hey." He said, a little unsure of the situation. He was trying to process the thought of his first car being an Autobot this whole time.
"I wanted to introduce myself before, but Prime's orders were very strict." You explained.
"I get that." Noah nodded. "My question I want to know is, why did you stop working?" He asked, and you could have sworn you heard a bit of sadness in his voice. Your spark ached, you had not wanted to stop working. You gently put Noah back down and crouched down to his level.
"I'm so sorry about that, it wasn't my intention at all. Remember that leak? When we ran over that piece of metal at the scrap yard?" You asked. Noah nodded. "Well, you replaced my oil with Earth oil. Which technically bots can use, but it takes us some time to get use to it. When you went away, I tried to rest and let my systems adjust themselves. I guess I went into recharge and didn't notice you were trying to start me again. I'm sorry." You explained. You were sad, you had wanted to be the first bot Noah ever saw. But it seems that title was taken by Mirage. You were happy to know Noah could see you now, but you were still disappointed.
"It's ok." Noah stepped close to you, placing a hand ontop of your servo. He looked up at you and smiled. "I'm just glad you're ok. Knowing your a bot, and your alive it makes up for it all. I was just worried you were never going to work again and I would have to-" He stopped himself before saying, 'get rid of you'. As if he couldn't say it.
"You kept me in here this whole time?" You asked. Looking around the garage.
"Yeah." Noah admitted, his face getting a little red. Your spark swelled. He kept you, he really kept you. Probably trying his best to fix you. It hurt because you wish you hadn't put him through that, but it showed you that he cared about you. And that made you feel happy.
"This is great, my old friend, my new friend, now we can all be bros and hang together." Mirage cheered. You and Noah laughed.
"I am quite interested to know how your first experience was seeing one of us." You stated.
"Oh that's such a good story, so there I was right. Just chilling in this nice garage." Mirage started.
"Uh Mirage." You stopped him.
"Yeah?"
"As much as I missed you, and it's nice to see you. I think I would like to hear this story from Noah."
"You hearing this? It's been years since we've seen each other but now you're in the picture I'm pushed to the side." Mirage acted hurt, but he understood. He could see the way the two of you looked at each other, he could feel the energy in the room. Old friends reunited, and it wasn't him and you. "Fine, go ahead Noah." Mirage made himself at home, finding a place to sit where he could watch as you and Noah caught up.
You and Noah talked for hours. You had sat down, then picked Noah up and placed him on your knee. He sat comfortably on your leg, a hand on your metal, looking up at you as he talked. He told you all about his experiences after meeting Mirage. You told him all about your history, about everything you went through up until the point he bought you.
"So, after I bought you. You were with me through everything?" Noah asked.
"Yep." You nodded.
"You could hear me talking?"
"I could, and I enjoyed it. You kept me company, even if you didn't realize you were." You smiled. Noah smiled too, patting your leg gently. Then his smile wavered slightly as he remembered something.
"You were there for the car washes huh?" He asked blushing. You laughed.
"I was yes. I appreciate how well you clean, I always looked beautiful and brand new afterwards." Your words made Noah smile.
"Yeah I do a pretty good job." There was a brief silence between the two of you.
"Noah. I want to apologize once more. I didn't realize I would be gone for so long."
"Hey, it's ok, you don't have to apologize. It was my fault. I shouldn't have put different oil in you." Noah expressed.
"But you didn't know. Because I didn't tell you. I should have trusted you and shown myself to you."
"It's fine that you didn't. I understand why. And I mean, look where we are now. Sure maybe you weren't my first bot. But you were my first car, and that will always be something special for me." Noah looked up at you, a grin on his face.
"And you will always be my favourite human." You smiled in return. "And I look forward to the future, and getting to know you, for real this time."
"Aw, you guys are so cute." Mirage commented. You had almost forgotten he was there. "Us three will have a lot of fun together I'm sure."
Sure, you probably did have to include Mirage too. But you didn't mind. You were just happy to be back with Noah. And now you could fully enjoy his company, and become real friends getting to know each other properly.
APH America "Ethnography" and Headcanons (SFW)
The United States of America, Alfred F. Jones, Mr. Stars and Stripes, 'Merica, Pretty Boy, um... or just simply America.
Here is a list of data I have gathered from this country and oh boy, what an interesting specimen we have here....
Ethnography
You will find this find this mythological creature at your local Walmart superstore during the evening hours on a weekday, sporting flannel loungewear pants (The plaid kind), a cotton t-shirt that definitely has been worn no less than two (2) times, Old Navy $1 flip flops, and a gray jacket.
When asked about his late night runs to the popular supermarket chain, his answer is just simply:
"There's nothing else to do and no where to go."
America's Cart Inventory for March 22nd:
One (1) package of "Mega Stuf Chocolate Oreos" for $5.97, One (1) 6-Pack of "Starbucks Frappuccino Chilled Coffee Drinks" in Caramel Flavor for $7.98, One (1) Family Sized Bag of "Flaming Hot Cheetos" for $5.94, One (1) "Furby Interactive Toy" for $39.19, and One (1) Stick of " Axe Apollo Men's Deodorant Stick" for $4.97. Total of purchase was $64.05 before tax.
When questioned about the "Furby Interactive Toy", he replies:
"Yeah dude, there's this thing I wanna make that's called a "Long Furby". Wanna come by my place and check it out?"
I agreed to the invination as it would give me a better look into his living space and lifestyle. He's very friendly person.
Living Space (Home):
Oh dear god, why did I agree to come here?
House is a what you would expect from a typical American college student such as:
"Saturdays Are For The Boys" banner flag, Marvel and DC posters, a very unsettling looking blue leather couch that looks like it has been through hell and back, random dumbbells and untouched exercise equipment, every game console from the 1972 "The Magnavox Odyssey" to the PS5, action figures from various popular TV shows and comics, an old KFC bucket with half eaten chicken on the coffee table and a shelf with a huge vinyl record and CD collection.
Conclusion: What a fucking gross nerd.
America offers a cold can of Coca-Cola, I accept it.
He shows me a very long light blue "Long Furby" from his collection, further proving how much of a dork he was.
When asked what kind of music he liked (in regards to his music collection), he replies:
"That's hard to answer, it changes every week. Because of my diverse music, I pretty much like everything. One week I could be listening to 1980's classic rock, 2000's techno-pop, Bluegrass Country, 1990's Hip Hop or anything. But, if I had to give you this week's favorite artist, it would have to be Taylor Swift and Doja Cat."
"Interesting..." I replied.
I have recorded enough data for today (the smell was bothering me) and left his home to do further extensive research.
Headcanons:
America has a deep love for cars and trucks, he can be seen working on his vintage 1968 Dodge Charger R/T called 'Thunderbird' (an absolute speed demon that can reach at top speeds of muthafuckin' 156 mph), and his enormous 2019 Ford F-150 'Big John' that he loves to drive to world meetings because he is a total stud muffin showoff.
Oh yeah, he defiantly modded 'Big John' horns with airblasters. So when he parks his car and he sees other nations come out of their vehicles, he pounds on that horn and scares the living shit out of them.
He totally does 2 am donuts in the Thunderbird the front of Walmart parking lots with his brother Canada to freak him out.
Other than seeing him work on his cars while listening to "Waking Up in Vegas by Katy Perry" on the radio, he's in his room sorting out his action figure and comic book collection.
Damn, what what a geek.
He has an eBay account where he buys, trades and auctions his collection as his interests constantly change.
If you think him being a geek, dork and a nerd is gonna save him from getting a basic ass Stanley cup, you're wrong.
He has a navy blue one that he takes to meetings and he would get dirty looks from the other nations.
"Goddamn it America, you do not need that much coffee."
"Fuck you, you scone sucking twink. It's not coffee, it's the Panera Super Charged Lemonade mixed with Redbull."
"I beg your fucking pardon..."
He gave Canada a red one for his birthday that he also takes with him to meetings.
"Canada, mon ami~. That better not be that merde American drinks that makes your heart explode."
"No, it's Tim Hortons iced coffee."
"Well.. that's better than what America drinks..."
THE SLATE TRUCK SELLS YOU NOTHING
Slate isn't notable for putting out a small utilitarian truck. Basically every major player in the automotive world has some sort of small lightweight truck, even if they don't sell them in the US. Toyota could beef up its small $10k utility truck to meet US safety standards, tack another $5k-$10k to the tag for its troubles, and put out a small truck for the US market.
How do I know this? Because ford did it, and is making a killing with the Maverick. And the Maverick is doing great with demographics previously pleading for another ranger. A 4cyl hybrid for the city is even more practical than a pure EV. Which is to say on paper the Slate truck is actually late to the party when it comes to selling customers a stripper spec fleet vehicle, your electric company is going to be auctioning off dozens of fleet Mavericks by the time you can order a Slate truck off amazon.
Slate is in fact notable because it understands we hate screens. Not that this is the first company to do so (or even market it that way), but the Bugatti Chiron classes a majority of people who want their buttons back out of ownership and therefore should not be counted. What Slate says is "Screens suck, so we gave you none" in a way that Ford cannot, because they also make trucks with screens and tons of options. Don't throw stones in glass dealerships.
The thing is, it's effective. I'm tired of screens. I want my buttons. Electric windows I can do away with-- I would also make this sacrifice in a GT3RS -- and though a lack of a radio is bad actually, the dedication to absolute stripper spec is exactly what customers want right now. Cheap, no frills, no tech.
The Ford Maverick is, in my opinion, the better car if we're purely bench racing prices and specs. Yes, you have a center screen in the dash and electric windows and a slight price increase (though note how the Slate's pricetag is only competitive when marketed with EV incentives) but if we're talking light trucks with affordable pricing and actual paint.
Instead of the current light truck discussion that doesn't matter, here are a few talking points about the Slate truck to focus on instead:
The longevity of its "dent proof" composite body panels meant to be wrapped
The benefits and drawbacks of charging controls and other vehicle functions solely run off user cellphones
The SUV conversion rear bedcaps
The return of the single cab pickup
I don't think I'd buy one new, but could be a fun used truck to abuse and rip around in for sure.
I don't know how many of you have had the privilege of having to shop for a used car in the last four years or so but let me tell you if you haven't yet, do everything you can to avoid it. What was once an exciting adventure has turned into the most nightmarish process I have ever undergone and I've had multiple colonoscopies, an abortion with complications, and dated an abusive, cringeworthy manchild for entirely too long.
This is worse.
Our particular constraints are this: nothing more than we can afford to buy outright. This is because you save a ton on insurance when you buy outright because they only have to insure the value of the vehicle, not the loan on the vehicle. These savings add up over the time you own the vehicle. Being in southern Ontario, our rates are some of the highest in Canada. By a wide margin. It's also because we are very, VERY debt-averse, which more people could stand to be imo.
This puts us square in the 2009-2015 range of used cars. Technically we could buy older but. We live in the Rust belt.
To circumvent this rust belting, our first instinct was to exploit a loophole in Alberta's insurance which is that a vehicle is technically considered road-worthy if insurance coverage has not been broken up to the point of sale, and purchase at an auction there and take our chances.
Three rounds of auctions later and we were outbid every time. There's only so much you should be willing to put up cash wise sight unseen and auction beaters used to be a very valid means of procurement. No longer it would appear. This was two weeks or so of looking.
So we switched out to local listings. Local auctions are mostly dealer-only so that way has been closed off to us, but honestly with how expensive auction beaters are now we're better off buying off a lot with a safety cert.
Cue three days of searching. Multiple bookmarked listings. And days of me scouring every single thread learning every single piece of info about the used car market out there.
Here is the process. You cannot skip any steps in this process under any circumstances. Never EVER skip one of these steps. Buying a used car is a huge headache and involves some SERIOUS legwork but that legwork will save you thousands of dollars in the long run and you will thank yourself.
So. Step one is to cold-call a lot. Don't book appointments to test drive, it prevents shady dealerships from clearing codes on cars before you arrive, making last minute changes, prettying them up etc.
Just show up, and start asking to look around.
This is Ontario specific but you're looking for CPO or at the very least safetied with some kind of warranty.
So the steps are.
Step 0. Find a car you like the dealership will sell CPO or safetied. Never EVER buy a car as-is. The difference in price between certified and as-is is in the THOUSANDS which means the dealership is willing to lose thousands by not having it safetied meaning it will cost AT LEAST THAT MUCH to pass inspection!!! Run don't walk away!!! You're gonna get screwed!!
1. This is the where the "fun" begins. This is your due diligence so you don't get ripped off or stuck with a money pit. Google "car make/model/year/Reddit" read at least 3 threads to completion. They will tell you common problems, pitfalls, mileages when it usually gives out, etc. decide if it's worth it. This is how I stopped us from getting stuck in an otherwise beautiful car that has class-action-lawsuit bad issues. Car Reddit is your new best friend.
Step 2. Get on your belly and look under the car. We live in the rust belt. Familiarize yourself with what rust looks like at different stages and what leaks look like. Also familiarize yourself with what oil spray OVER rust looks like. I saved us from a big mistake with that one. We live in the rust belt. Shady sellers will oil coat their rust buckets and say they were sprayed every year and that's a huge lie. Don't fall for it.
Step 3. Only get to this step if step 1 & 2 satisfy you. Start the car. Pop the hood, listen for anything that sounds out of time, it should be a consistent rhythm, no squeaking or inconsistent pops or shudders. It should start easily and smoothly. Sniff around for really notable exhaust fumes, smoking or burning.
Step 4. The actual test drive. This is very important, run the car with the window down, listen for any noise from the wheel wells (it helps if you have someone else with you to listen from the passenger side) make sure all your windows work, radio, AC, heat, watch the temperature gauge, feel how it shifts if it's an automatic, should not shudder between gears (when you speed up and slow down should go smoothly). Find a way to get it up to highway speed. Ideally not ON a highway, but get it up to 90-100km/hr. This will tell you what the engine really sounds like and if it's throwing a code (that's car talk for the onboard computer senses an error or problem) will probably make it show up even if the dealer already cleared it. That will tell you if the dealer is hiding issues. Out of the vehicles we have looked at, we are at something like 10:1 for vehicles looked at to test driven. We live in the rust belt.
IF FOR SOME REASON YOUR DEALER WONT LET YOU TEST DRIVE IT RUN DONT WALK AWAY. THATS 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩 LIKE THATS LESS OF A RED FLAG AND MORE OF A RED BILLBOARD.
Most will never get to the test drive phase.
If the test drive goes well, step 5 is "show me the Carfax!" Seriously. Read it front to back. The dealer SHOULD provide it, if they're not willing, you CAN check it yourself but that tells me they're hiding something in the history. Never ever buy anything with a rebuilt or salvage title. In ON a clean title is something that has a "None" branding by the MTO. Carfax clean, or relatively so (accidents will look very big and expensive on the Carfax but might have only been cosmetic damage, insurance rates for accident repair are astronomical and not reflective any and "real" value or cost, don't be too put off by it but ask about the details)
Step 6 is 3rd party inspection- find a mechanic you trust or at least one with majority positive google reviews and ask to book a pre purchase inspection. This will run you $50-$100 but could potentially save you thousands. This is to spot issues you didn't catch on your initial looking over. The reason you put so much legwork into looking over the car first is to save money by only bringing cars with relatively high likelihood of being a good purchase to your mechanic. You're trying to eliminate every possible defect or fault yourself for free before you pay to have it looked at.
IF YOUR DEALER WONT LET YOU HAVE IT LOOKED AT BY A 3RD PARTY (and no, don't fall for "you're welcome to bring him here to look" that's shady AF cuz it means dealer knows if your guy gets it up on the lift he'll see smth) RUN DONT WALK AWAY.
If, and only if your mechanic says he doesn't see any issues, it should run well for the foreseeable future. Then.
Run a quote through your insurance. And then run a quote through a couple different providers and make sure you can afford it!!! I know so many people who got fucked buying a car they loved only to find out the insurance is ASTRONOMICAL or worse, will only cover liability and nothing else (looking @ you, Kia soul owners) or they have to pay insane rates because of whatever.
Then and ONLY THEN do you start signing paperwork.
If you somehow managed to make it through this process unscathed then you must have a lot more money than me LOL
I'm so tired.
What Are Stocks? A Simple Guide for First-Time Investors
If you've ever heard people talking about the stock market and felt left out of the conversation, you're not alone. The world of stocks can seem overwhelming at first, filled with jargon, fast-moving numbers, and a dizzying array of companies and charts. But in reality, the basics are surprisingly straightforward once broken down.
Stocks are one of the most popular investment vehicles for building wealth over time. Whether you're saving for retirement, planning a future purchase, or simply want your money to grow, understanding stocks is a crucial first step toward becoming a savvy investor.
This guide will walk you through everything you need to know as a beginner — from what stocks are to how the market works, and how to get started.
What Are Stocks?
At its core, a stock represents ownership in a company. When you buy a share of stock, you’re buying a piece of that business. For example, if a company has 1 million shares and you buy 1,000 of them, you own 0.1% of that company.
There are two primary types of stocks:
Common Stocks: These offer voting rights and the potential for dividends, though dividend payments are not guaranteed.
Preferred Stocks: These generally don’t have voting rights but have a higher claim on assets and earnings. They often provide fixed dividends.
Owning stocks means you get a share of the company’s success — and sometimes, its failure. The value of a stock rises and falls depending on how investors feel about the company's future prospects.
Why Do Companies Issue Stocks?
Companies issue stocks to raise capital. This money can be used for expansion, paying off debt, or launching new products. Instead of borrowing from banks or taking on loans with interest, companies can go public by offering stocks to the public in exchange for ownership.
When a company first issues stock, it’s through an Initial Public Offering (IPO). After the IPO, the stock can be bought and sold on various stock exchanges.
How the Stock Market Works
The stock market is essentially a marketplace where investors buy and sell shares of publicly traded companies. It functions like an auction — buyers offer a price, sellers ask for a price, and when both parties agree, the transaction happens.
Major stock exchanges include:
New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
NASDAQ
London Stock Exchange (LSE)
The prices of stocks are determined by supply and demand. If more people want to buy a stock than sell it, the price goes up. If more want to sell than buy, the price goes down.
Understanding Stock Indices
To track the performance of a group of stocks, analysts and investors often refer to stock indices. These are hypothetical portfolios representing segments of the market.
Some well-known indices include:
S&P 500: Represents 500 of the largest companies in the U.S.
Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA): Includes 30 major American companies.
NASDAQ Composite: Focuses heavily on tech stocks.
Indices help investors understand overall market trends without needing to track individual stocks.
How to Start Investing in Stocks
Starting your investment journey in stocks doesn’t require a financial background or large sums of money. Here are the steps to begin:
1. Set Clear Financial Goals
Understand what you’re investing for — retirement, a house, your child’s education, or long-term wealth. Knowing your goals helps determine your risk tolerance and time horizon.
2. Educate Yourself
Before diving in, spend time learning the basics of stock investing, how markets work, and what factors influence stock prices. Many platforms, including Tubo Trade, provide educational resources designed for beginners.
3. Choose a Brokerage Account
To buy and sell stocks, you’ll need a brokerage account. Compare online brokers based on fees, user experience, research tools, and customer service.
4. Start Small and Diversify
Don’t pour all your savings into a single stock. Diversification spreads your risk across different sectors and companies. Beginners often start with Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) or mutual funds to gain exposure to a broad array of stocks.
5. Adopt a Long-Term Mindset
The stock market rewards patience. Trying to time the market or chase quick gains often leads to poor results. Think years, not days.
Risks of Stock Investing
While investing in stocks has historically generated strong returns, it’s not without risks.
Market Risk: Stock prices can fluctuate wildly in the short term due to economic events, politics, or global crises.
Company Risk: The specific business you invest in might fail, causing its stock value to drop to zero.
Liquidity Risk: Some stocks, especially of smaller companies, may be hard to sell quickly without affecting the price.
Mitigating these risks involves research, diversification, and disciplined investing.
Key Stock Market Terms Every Beginner Should Know
Bull Market: A market condition where prices are rising or expected to rise.
Bear Market: A market condition where prices are falling or expected to fall.
Dividends: Payments made by a corporation to its shareholders, often drawn from profits.
Market Capitalization: The total value of a company’s outstanding shares.
P/E Ratio: Price-to-Earnings Ratio; a valuation metric that compares the price of a stock to the company’s earnings per share.
Familiarity with these terms helps you understand market news and investment discussions better.
The Role of Emotions in Investing
One of the biggest challenges in stock investing isn’t choosing the right stocks — it’s managing your emotions. Fear and greed can lead to impulsive decisions like panic selling during a downturn or jumping into overhyped stocks.
Successful investors maintain discipline, stick to their strategy, and keep emotions in check. Tools like automated investing, portfolio rebalancing, and financial advisors can help.
How Tubo Trade Helps Beginners
Tubo Trade offers an intuitive platform built for both beginners and experienced investors. With user-friendly dashboards, educational content, and real-time market data, users can gain confidence and make informed decisions. Whether you’re starting with $100 or $10,000, the platform guides you every step of the way with tools designed to simplify investing.
Beyond just buying and selling stocks, Tubo Trade emphasizes financial literacy — helping users build a solid foundation for long-term success.
Common Mistakes to Avoid as a Beginner
Investing Without Research: Never buy a stock just because someone recommended it. Understand what the company does and its financial health.
Lack of Diversification: Putting all your money in one stock can be dangerous. Spread your investments across sectors and industries.
Trying to Time the Market: Even professional investors struggle with this. Focus on consistency and time in the market rather than perfect timing.
Ignoring Fees: Some brokers charge commissions or hidden fees that can eat into your returns. Always read the fine print.
Letting Emotions Rule: Markets go up and down. Emotional reactions can lead to buying high and selling low — the opposite of what you want.
Final Thoughts
Investing in stocks is one of the most powerful tools available to build wealth and secure your financial future. While it may seem intimidating at first, taking time to learn the basics, stay informed, and invest wisely will pay off in the long run.
The journey doesn’t end once you buy your first stock. Continue learning, refining your strategy, and making data-driven decisions. With patience and discipline, even the most novice investor can thrive.
Platforms like Tubo Trade empower individuals with the tools and knowledge to take control of their financial destiny. So take that first step — the stock market isn’t just for the wealthy or the experts; it’s for everyone ready to grow.
Exclusive Ways to Get VIP Fancy Numbers
In today’s digital world, owning a fancy number is not just a style statement but also a mark of individuality and prestige. Whether it's a unique vehicle registration plate or a custom mobile number, having a fancy number allows you to stand out from the crowd. With growing online platforms, it has become easier than ever to buy online fancy numbers from the comfort of your home.
Why Fancy Numbers Are in High Demand
Fancy numbers are a symbol of exclusivity and personal identity. Many people choose numbers that have personal significance, such as birth dates, lucky numbers, or sequences that are easy to remember. Businesses often go for numbers that help with brand recognition or create a professional impression.
From car registration plates to mobile numbers, people are ready to pay extra to get a number that aligns with their personality or business needs. This increasing demand has led to the rise of platforms where you can easily buy online fancy numbers.
Types of Fancy Numbers You Can Buy Online
When people think about fancy numbers, most commonly they imagine stylish car registration numbers or easy-to-remember mobile digits. But there's a wide range to choose from, including:
Mobile numbers with repeating digits or unique patterns
Vehicle registration numbers with specific digit sequences
VIP series numbers often reserved for auctions or premium buyers
These are not just for show. For many, a fancy number carries spiritual, personal, or business significance. Some believe that specific number combinations bring luck, while others see them as a way to enhance credibility or style.
How to Buy Online Fancy Numbers Easily
Purchasing fancy numbers used to involve complicated processes, long waiting times, or even dealing with brokers. But the digital age has transformed this process completely. Now, all it takes is a few clicks to browse, select, and register your preferred number online.
Online platforms make it easy to filter by price range, category, or specific digits. Whether you are looking for a number that’s symmetrical, lucky, or simply stands out, these platforms provide a seamless experience. Moreover, all necessary paperwork and legal procedures are handled by experts, saving you time and effort.
Benefits of Choosing Authentic VIP Fancy Numbers
Not all fancy numbers are created equal. While some are simply catchy or easy to remember, authentic VIP fancy numbers are extremely rare and often come with legal verification and exclusive ownership rights. These premium numbers are verified and sourced directly through official channels, ensuring they are not duplicated or misused.
VIP fancy numbers are often limited in availability, making them more valuable. They are usually part of limited releases by government or telecom authorities and can even appreciate in value over time. Whether you are a car enthusiast or a business professional, owning a VIP fancy number can make a strong impression wherever you go.
What Makes a Fancy Number “Authentic”
Authenticity is a crucial factor when buying fancy numbers. The best platforms provide certification and proof of ownership. They also ensure that the number is transferred legally and officially to your name. This helps in avoiding any disputes or legal issues later.
When selecting a VIP fancy number, always verify that it is sourced from legitimate government auctions or telecom providers. Also, check the paperwork to make sure the number has not been used or registered before unless you are intentionally opting for a re-sale.
Finding the Right Platform for Fancy Numbers
Not every platform offering fancy numbers guarantees authenticity. You must choose a provider that is transparent, secure, and well-reviewed. Look for a platform that offers a wide range of numbers, easy search and filter options, legal verification, and good customer support.
Buying fancy numbers should be as easy and trustworthy as shopping for any premium product online. The platform you choose should give you full clarity on pricing, availability, documentation, and transfer procedures.
If you are looking to buy online fancy numbers or searching for authentic VIP fancy numbers that reflect your style and identity, then a trusted source likeFancywala.in can offer a wide range of options with complete transparency and legal assurance.
Pickup Scheduling
After the quote is accepted, we will get in touch with our trusted carriers to schedule the pickup of the vehicle at a time and location convenient to you.
What are the costs of Car Shipping in Pennsylvania?
One of the most common questions asked is the cost. Here, the price is clear from the beginning with no hidden charges at Rapid Auto Shipping.
Factors That Affect Shipping Costs:
Vehicle Type: Vehicles like SUVs or trucks are more expensive to transport than standard vehicles.
Transport Type: Open carriers offer lower fares, whereas enclosed carriers offer more protection but at a higher price.
Seasonal Demand: Prices tend to vary depending on demand e.g during winter owing to the snow bird season.
Whether you're purchasing a car from a dealer or a private seller, getting a comprehensive Car Inspection in Sydney ensures you're making a smart investment and not walking into unexpected repair bills.
What is a Prepurchase Vehicle Inspection?
A Prepurchase Vehicle Inspection is a thorough check-up carried out by a professional mechanic or vehicle inspector before you finalize the purchase of a used car. It typically includes:
Mechanical condition (engine, brakes, transmission, suspension)
Electrical systems (lights, battery, wiring)
Interior and exterior condition
Tyre health and wheel alignment
Odometer verification
Signs of previous accidents or rust
How Auctions Impact Local and Global Economies?
Tumblr media
Auctions have been around for centuries, and today, they continue to play a vital role in shaping both local and global economies. From local goods to international assets, auctions bring buyers and sellers together in a competitive environment, helping determine the fair market value of items. This process creates many economic benefits, especially when used effectively.
Encouraging Fair Competition
One of the biggest advantages of auctions is that they encourage fair competition. Buyers have an equal chance to bid on goods or services, which helps in finding a true market price. Whether it’s real estate, artwork, vehicles, or business equipment, competitive bidding ensures that sellers get the best possible price while buyers know they are paying a fair amount based on current demand.
Supporting Small Businesses and Local Sellers
Local auctions give small businesses, farmers, and individual sellers a great platform to reach more customers. They can sell their goods quickly without needing a large retail setup. This boosts their income and helps keep money circulating within the local economy.
Minnesota auctions also help local governments and communities by offering a way to liquidate surplus items or property in a transparent and efficient manner. The money earned can be reinvested into community services or development projects.
Promoting Global Trade
In the global economy, auctions connect sellers and buyers from different parts of the world. This is especially true in industries like art, antiques, precious metals, and digital goods. Through international auctions, rare and high-value items can reach a much wider audience.
Additionally, auctions help businesses adjust supply and demand more efficiently. For example, if a company has extra stock, it can sell it through auctions at competitive prices, avoiding waste and improving its cash flow.
Encouraging Innovation and Market Growth
Auctions also encourage innovation. Sellers often improve their products or offer better deals to attract more bidders. Buyers, on the other hand, benefit from variety, price flexibility, and transparency. This competitive environment leads to better quality goods and services, benefiting consumers and pushing the economy forward.
In sectors like digital technology and online marketplaces, auctions are changing how trade works. New auction models and smart bidding tools make buying and selling faster, easier, and more reliable, helping both new and experienced traders grow.
Conclusion
In summary, auctions are more than just a way to buy and sell items—they are powerful tools that support economic growth. By encouraging fair pricing, boosting local businesses, and connecting global markets, auctions bring value to individuals, communities, and economies. As technology continues to evolve, the positive impact of auctions is likely to grow even stronger in the years to come.
