If you want to make your backyard a safe haven for lesser dragons, you must keep a close eye on your pets. While it is unlikely that a curious kitten will be able to cause a dragon physical harm, the egos of these small wyrms are as fragile as they are beautiful.

Is this how I start to listen to the mountain goats? I guess it is. I'm curious now lol
I think you should. Jenny from Thebes is the most recent album, has a theatrical feel to it, it's a concept album centered around Jenny, who is a reoccurring figure in the mythology of the Mountain Goats past but it's basically about.
Losing home, what in desperation you'd do to try and keep it, trying so hard and failing anyways. About being someone who thought you had a chance. It's evocative, thoughtful songwriting combined with gorgeous instrumentals. It might be their best work. There's a ton of little callbacks to albums prior but those feel more like a little reward for loyal listeners and aren't necessary to comprehend the songs.

older gentleman just gave me a lecture on how when I decide it’s time to find a wife I need to buy myself a pair of loud colorful socks and sit around with my legs crossed to show my ankles and women will flock to me

i have this unrealistic fantasy in my head where if you calmly and logically explain something to someone perfectly they will understand your position and gain knowledge from the exchange. unfortunately in the real world this does not happen often

the fact that jenny lies about what her tattoo says, when in reality it’s a line from a greek tragedy about truly belonging to a place, but she says it means “all of this will disappear in the twinkling of an eye.” Just. the foreshadowing. the way the tattoo is an aspiration of family and belonging but what jenny says it means becomes a warning about how easily jenny loses her found family

i think so so much about "such gestures are noble and doomed", about jenny. noble and doomed. all the kindness and noble acts in the world could never have made it end any different. but the tragedy also can't overwrite the good things she did for the people she cared for.
