Find something you enjoy, if you can afford it! "Working out" for me is mostly walking with podcasts and the dog or with my best friend while we chat for an hour or more. I also row on a rowing machine (I briefly rowed competitively in college) with loud angry music in my headphones and have tried a ton of both online yoga instructors to find ones I enjoy as well as online strength instructors to find ones I like and will do occasionally (keeps my wrists and shoulders happier). I've tried climbing at a local climbing gym and had fun but it was a lot of hassle to just be able to do the really easy ones I could do with my crap grip strength and expensive. My partner plays ultimate Frisbee with a pickup group on Saturday mornings. Sometimes we take bikes out to the park with miles of paved trails (I don't like off road biking and my kids aren't old enough to do a lot of it).
It can be daunting to get started but there's a lot of fitness stuff you can do on your own. I like gamifying fitness for myself, I've learned that I'm stupidly motivated by little rewards/dopamine blasts from getting "achievements". I'm tracking miles run/walked/rowed/swam/biked to track how long it takes me to go to Mordor. I join tons of challenges with Garmin connect. Zombies run is free to play (I use it while walking with chases turned off) up to two missions per week and gives you storyline while you walk and after each mission you complete you get to upgrade your Abel Base. Zombies Run also has a home workout program they put out during the pandemic where you can do stuff in your house if you can't leave. One of my friends is doing Ring Fit and loving it (she has small kids at home who usually get in the way but they watch the ring fit as if it's a TV show and give her the space she needs). Pokemon Go is still a thing.
My college friend with POTS found that rowing is the one type of cardio that doesn't trigger symptoms. Friend with hashimoto's is doing Ring Fit. I'm hypermobile EDS and doing light dumbbell exercises on top of my walking and rowing so I hopefully won't have to get a fifth joint surgery anytime soon. Just gotta do what we can, this is the only body we're going to get. I want mine to last a long time.
We’re all goin here right

Day one, done. Christel is our Dutch guide, who speaks "at least six" languages including fluent Spanish and/or Catalan; the other guide is Tom, who's English. Christel asked me how I'd found the roads. "Scottish," I said. She has lived in Scotland, and understood: scenic, varied, rough in places. The promised "concrete rollercoaster" was actually very smooth: it's had some attention. The middle of the last, longest, climb up to Vallter 2000 was really tough, and pretty much all of those 12 km were rough, too: I had jangling wrists by the end of the descent.
It has been a day full of incident: but, to reassure my readers, everyone is okay. Stephen overcooked a bend and came off on the approach to the day's second climb. The WhatsApp group lit up with messages. WhatsApps now appear on my Garmin, passed on by my phone, so I was able to alert Tom, who took the van back to fix Stephen up, and Kate, Stephen's partner, who was briefly concerned, and then rode on. I have had to mute the work WhatsApp groups of which I'm still a member.
(Unannounced new features on a tool you rely on to keep you from being lost, and from coming off on unforeseen hairpins, are anxiety-provoking. Or, rather, the Garmin gets anxious, a bit like our new car. A few upgrades ago, it started sending Ursula text messages if I stopped sharply at traffic lights, fearing I had been in a collision, so I think I am subconsciously expecting it to find some new trouble to worry about. Later on today's ride, I passed a roadside horse. I expect sheep and cattle to emit montane clanging from neck-bells, but not horses. My first thought was "What is this new noise from the Garmin?")
Stephen's a bit scratched, and now patched, but his front wheel took the force of the impact and was badly damaged. Tom put a spare wheel into Stephen's frame, adjusted the brakes to fit, and took the broken wheel back to a bike shop in Olot and fixed it (he works as a bike mechanic in the winters). Stephen says Tom is a superstar. Stephen and Kate both rode the Vallter at the end of the day: a tough couple.
Meanwhile, Philip had a double-puncture 2 km short of the hotel, and had to walk the rest of the way, because Tom was in Olot and Christel was at the top of the Vallter climb. Rob had a puncture on the descent from Vallter. That road averages 7% and except for two sets of switchbacks, is pretty straight: so it's a fast descent, and a puncture at speed is serious: but Rob is very experienced, stayed upright and fixed it remarkably fast. (Rob lives in Carlisle, and used to do a lot of audax. We worked out over dinner last night that we must have been on the same rides together, out of Galashiels.)
And now we're all safely in the hotel. It's a strong group. As Christel put it, no-one hangs around. She's never known so many make it to the top of the Vallter. Yesterday evening's cautious social and cycling sizing-up has been gradually replaced on the road by general mutual respect and support. (The social and cycling sorting work in opposite directions. People try to go one-up socially, and one-down athletically: thus, "The girls go to Roedean" and "You'll be passing me tomorrow." One of the group rode all the way to the Rocacorba monastery last night, was late for the briefing as a result, and posted summit pictures on the WhatsApp group during the briefing. He did not win points for this. He is, though, much the strongest rider.)

Day 30: Rest Day Madison, WI
It is a little hard to believe that we’ve already earned our 3rd rest day (out of 4). The riders get to sleep in, do laundry and resupply as needed. We were also given the option of touring the Trek headquarters in nearby Waterloo, WI.
Trek has recently renovated their HQ and we were treated to a 2 hour tour, followed by lunch. In addition to the normal corporate functions, the HQ hosts development (which we weren’t allowed to see) testing, assembly and custom painting of high-end Project One bikes. Most of the actual factory work (ex carbon fiber lay-up) occurs in overseas factories. The HQ is well done and it was interesting to learn the history of the company - they have a great culture and it is easy to see why they are successful. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a factory store! I was really hoping to get some cool gear and was disappointed by that. It was worth the trip nonetheless and I recommend it.
Speaking of gear, let’s talk about the gear we are using on this trip. The trip includes the use of a Trek Domane SL7 - this is a high end all-carbon bike with Shimano components (crank, cassette, electronic shifting) and disc brakes. The electronic shifters are battery powered and are recharged by Trek on our rest days. You can see the shifter status indicator above the Trek-issued headlight. Every rider must have a blinking white light in front and a blinking red light in back - Trek collects these after every ride and charges them. Beth and I have identical bikes at home but with the older caliper brakes. Riders can bring their own bike if they wish, but if they do then any repairs or maintenance along the way is the responsibility of the rider; one rider chose to do this. Riders send their bike fit measurements to Trek in advance of the trip and the bikes are configured and ready on day 1. The bike fit is important, especially on a long trip and mine has been perfect. Trek also offers an option to upgrade to carbon wheels which are a bit lighter and more aerodynamic - I selected this upgrade as did many but not all riders.
Trek also provides helmets and saddles, but most riders, including me, bring their own. I wear a Bontrager Wave Cell helmet; it is relatively new technology that substantially reduces the risk of concussion. Riders also bring their own pedals; I brought my Wahoo Speedplay pedals which include a power meter. You can see them charging in the picture. I charge them every 3-4 days. Riders wear a variety of biking shoes with cleats to match their pedals. I have two pairs of Sidi bike shoes. These shoes are stupidly expensive but really do last for years.
Trek gives everyone a large white Garmin which is preloaded with a map and turn-by-turn directions for every day of the trip. In addition, most riders are like me and also have their own personal Garmin. My personal Garmin is set to display elapsed time, speed, distance, power, cadence, heart rate and feet of ascent. My Garmin is Bluetooth enabled so it is communicating with the power meter in my pedals, the heart rate strap around my chest and it will display messages (alerts, texts, etc.) that I receive in my phone. Sunglasses are also a must-have accessory; most riders have a pair for full sun as well as low-light rainy conditions.
I have one bike accessory that no other rider brought - an X-Lab attachment that carries two extra water bottles behind my saddle. Now that the weather has cooled, I probably won’t need them, but when it was hot they helped keep my one kidney hydrated. I really don’t know how the other riders managed with just two bottles.
Lastly, every rider has an assortment of gear for rain and cold weather; fortunately we haven’t had much use for this gear yet.
That’s about all there is to know about the gear; ask questions if I missed something or if you’d like to know more.

What I’m using in 2022
Health & Symptom Tracking // Bearable
Food Tracker (Sodium & Calories) // Calorie Counter + by Nutracheck
Saftey App for Walks // Road ID
Heart Rate Tracking // Fitbit + Cardiogram (The Fitbit app only shows averages over a few minutes unless you have an active exercise session going. Cardiogram pulls the detailed data from Fitibit and shows you a more accurate report. I would prefer/recommend Apple Watch instead because it works faster and more seamless with Cardiogram and the new ones have a HR alarm which is basically what my service dog is trained to do)
Printable Goal Tracking // Etsy
(This is for Hubbins activities. I mainly use the apps and the other printables I have listed.)
Printable Activity Tracking // Etsy
(I use printables on the refrigerator as a quick and easy system I can look back on if I forget to take detailed notes in my training journal or my tracking apps. I write quick notes about the day on the calendar and use the three column todo list as a way to track particular daily activities. First column is for physical therapy, second is for outings/walks and third is for other activities.)

Congratulations ! you have successfully updated your Garmin GPS
Wondering about how to upgrade Garmin GPS, look no further, this article will give you answers for all your questions. In this blog, I will tell you about how do I update my Garmin GPS. Garmin is my favorite when it comes to navigation devices because I know for sure that I can trust them well but since nothing is perfect and neither is Garmin GPS device. It is sometimes possible for the Garmin device to show wrong destination or incorrect or lengthy routes to reach a particular destination and this might result in miscalculations and late arrivals to a destination or arrival at a completely different unintended destination.
Though it must be noted that your Garmin GPS is not completely at fault because it is your job to keep your device upgraded. since development in the recent decade is at full swing and as a result, there are continuous constructions of new roads and buildings, it is obvious that the landmarks will get shifted, new places will emerge and that routes will change as new shortcuts get discovered. All the GPS devices take signals from satellites and bank on that data to provide you with the accurate information it is necessary that the maps stay updated with all the latest streets and highways otherwise you will have to keep pulling over from time-to-time to confirm the directions.
On my recent trip to ladakh, I had to go through the same glitches and from a well-planned trip, it got converted into a quest to discover my destinations untill I realized that the lapse has been from my side in updating the device. Luckily I had a great wifi connection in my hotel room so I didnt have to struggle much and it became very easy for me to update my Garmin gps. I am going to share with you all how I updated my Garmin gps by simply following few easy steps Updating the Garmin gps is very simple if you have access to the garmin update software, whcih is the garmin express. The Garmin express software makes all the updates available to your desktop on whcih you can click and download. The foremost thing for it is to install the garmin express software on your desktop after downloading it from a accountable downloading source. When your device is connected to your desktop with the help of a usb cable while it is still on, you will have to click on “add a device” button. This will connect your gps device to the software and the software will them make all the updates available for you which you can install in your device by clicking on the “install” button. After this step, all the updates that are avaialaible at that moment will get installed in your device and your device will be up to date and ready to use once you have ejected it safely. I followed the same steps and upgraded my Garmin GPS device but during the process suddenly my Garmin GPS troubleshooting stopped working. I did not panic as I knew who to go to for my problem. I just made a call on the 1800-616-3128
toll-free number and I was assured that their excellent assistants will fix my probem in no time. The team guided me well and the issue was resolved very quickly. Though updating a garmin device is a smooth sailing process but if you also ever encounter any type of problem with your device just give a call on the above mentioned number and their 24*7 working technical assistance team will solve all your query's

Precaution is better than cure with Garmin device
It was my 25th birthday , and i was trying to cut off at least one thing off of my bucket list before turning 25. That is when i came across traveling alone once in my life. I have always been fascinated by that idea, to travel alone and get to know myself a little more. I told my friends about this idea, they have their concerns but they were also supportive. One of my friends gave the garmin device just in case I get lost somewhere, it will bring me back home. And what a coincidence roaming through the outskirts of countryside of Australia and I did got lost , thankfully I had the garmin device with me, which had garmin map upgrade , so, without any fear through garmin connect,
I located my hotel with the help of garmin gps maps. That is the day I realized that exploring new things in your life is the best thing you can gift to yourself , you just have to take care , as we all know this great saying “ Precaution is better than cure”.
When I got back home , I told my friends about my adventure and my reliability on garmin devices, I was so impressed by the device that I gifted my brother the same as he is a travel freak. My friend reminded me that the most advantage we can take from garmin devices by Garmin connect mobile , always keeping it updated. So, now i am not at all afraid of getting lost , and I have now the comfort of travelling alone wherever I want. I will give a shout out to all the traveller out there, they should get the garmin device for themselves and their loved ones. And don't forget to get Garmin map upgrade on a regular basis.

2/11/2021- Entry One 💕
Today calls for coffee & lots of it! If you follow me on social media or if you text me or I text you. I often say this one of many times, kind of like roll off of my tongue. My favorite place for a chain cup of coffee is Starbucks! Junior high me, loved the famous Starbucks green tea fraps w/the dollop of whipped cream, then I became a lover of Starbucks coffee, cappuccino & espresso like most adults lol! If you follow me on Twitter, you would know my best friend Jacqueline Laurita, for almost 5 years in July. On my 30th birthday, back on 5/21/2018 she called me her “Starbucks addict friend”. Lol! She totally nailed that spot on!! Another reason why I named this blog “Today Calls For Coffee & Lots Of It”. I am a coffee lover! I love coffee lol! I want to make this blog unfiltered, unedited & everything else in between! SO hi friends! How are you all doing? Hope you all are doing ok & feeling good! I feel like morning exercise, definitely gets your blood flowing, SO I went back on my indoor cycle like I always do. Which became my morning routine, also a great form of cardio & great self care, regardless of how much sleep I've had the night before. My AirPods has officially died after 3 in a half years lol! SO I am using the old school head phones, that came with the iPhones, as in place of the charger, lol! Till I finally order new AirPods lol! The only issue, I have currently is my battery drains more faster. This morning for my daily work out, I was listening to The Supremes, in honor of the late Mary Wilson. Been doing my indoor cycle for an hour & 10 mins is key for me. As I was on my indoor cycle, My friend Maria sent me a text, like most mornings. Maria is often up at 5 a.m. Cause that is the libra in her lol! She always been like that since high school. Then I wake up about two hours later. Most of the time, we are just super random lol! After my indoor cycling, I lift weights, do squats & ab rolling. I do believe it’s finally paying off! Cause my mom & aunt both noticed I am losing weight. Plus key words! Drink water! I often drink two liters of alkaline water daily, aside from having coffee lol! SO many great benefits of alakaine water compared to tap water. Though living in NY, they claim we have the best drinking water. On Monday I finally upgraded myself to a Garmin Venu (smart warch). I officially became that adult! Who loves watches lol! As a signature piece! Plus today I posted a picture on my Instagram (my handle is LittleLeighXoxo) of a selfie I took on a SnapChat with the mask filter. Shockingly, I got 12 likes! Pretty impressive! Though I do believe; I’ll get more by tomorrow lol! The other Maria, asked me “If you had to describe 2007, how would you describe it”. I said “ It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.” Which is the prologue of the Tale Of Two Cities by the late Charles Dickens. Pretty much! In summary! It was how we all were leaving our late teens into becoming adults in our 20s. Now here we are! 14 years later! We are in our 30s. Time does fly! Just feels like yesterday, we all were in our green & white graduation robes, walking into Brooklyn collage, to Pomp and Circumstance. Then throwing our caps in the air. Plus last night I found my old high school year book, decided on skimming thru it. SO! I wrote a lot! Hope you all loved & enjoyed this blog! Be kind & subcribe! Xoxo 💕
