summary: in which they are pulled together following a particularly messy crash during the last race of the season and an even messier break up

a/n: i got this plot as a request and i love it ahhh i linked the request below!!! hope u guys enjoy i lowkey luv writing logan fanfic especially when max loses something 😆

request!!!: max is getting too cocky and dangerous on the track and he knows you disagree with his antics which causes tension between you, he continues his dangerous streak even though he’s just had the pit lane rules changed for abu dhabi and ends up crashing into logan during fp2, you’ve had enough of max putting himself and others in danger whilst he’s on an ego trip and rush to check on logan after he’s been taken safely from his car and end up going to the hospital with him (you’re childhood friends because he did karting and f3 with your brother), you leave max that night and end up spending more time with logan as he recovers, the summer is spent exploring your new relationship and you go public when you’re spotted in his paddock in 2024, max is humiliated beaten by the worst driver on the grid in his opinion, he’s finally humbled, you could also maybe have logan doing better as he’s had an opportunity to be involved with the cars development, and he even gets a couple podiums in his sophomore year :)

okay so i’m learning about ww1 in history rn and we looked at these posters that were like. meant to convince aussies to enlist but they really just looked stupid and i drew stars all up my arm while writing poetry! and i had some really good pasta :)

How prevalent is American history in ur country? We literally learn nothing about Australia or NZ. I'm curious :)

(i did my schooling in australia so this is just aussie info) so in primary school (ages 6-12) we don't learn american history, just australian. mostly about captain cook, our gold rush, ned kelly, the stolen generation. i hated it i hated learning about captain cook it was so boring to me 😭 and of course its not done under any analytical lens of like critical race theory or under a wider scope of colonialism but thats another story lol. oh god and when they taught us about the stolen generation they of course said nothing about the state of australian racism to the indigenous population today.

we did learn about ww1 and 2 but only ever in the context of the pacific theatre. like we got gallipoli drilled into our heads. we did learn about the holocaust in year 8, but again not very america-related

in high school (13-18), our history classes start off still australian history (though there was the holocaust semester). around age 15 (year 9 for us) you can pick elective classes and those history classes and politics classes are more global. not american-centric, but since america looms so large we learned more about it.

honestly the thing is though that we DO learn a lot about american history because it's so soaked into media and culture. you just know about 1776 or the civil war or civil rights etcetc through movies and news and culture. a lot of people choose to be ignorant though and choose to act like 'oh thats not our business'

but it's never taught fully, and i think that's a huge problem. race in australia is pushed under the rug, its considered rude to bring it up. like by acknowledging racism you're doing racism. and especially its considered something of the past, like "yeah we were racist to the chinese in the gold rush" and "yeah we were racist to the aboriginals" ~bUT WERE BETTER NOW~ eugh

i think its really important for education to not be nationalistic. obviously we need to learn our country's history, but i'm also a filthy globalist and think everyone should be educated about everything. american history IS important to learn. there's this problem here where people call things like race or war or whatever 'an american problem' 'oh the americans always make things about race' 'the americans expect everyone to know their history" and its like well yeah its annoying but we SHOULD learn of course we should!

the US is the world's superpower. everything that happens in the US affects everyone else. whether its culture wars, social change, imperialism etc its something we have to learn. rahhh sorry this is all like personal qualms. you have no idea how maddening 2020 was. it was like all my classmates realised there was a world beyond our school.

Part 7 | Part 9

Pt 8 (how have we gotten here already?!)

Daniel wiped the sweat off of his brow as he cycled, in an attempt to cool down his body. He made a face when he felt the grit of clay still on his palm from when he had fallen onto his back in relief of his success.

He'd made it to the semis, by the skin of his ballsack. His opponent had a lot of unforced errors in the last few sets, mistakes he made that gifted Daniel with the points needed to gain advantages.

He felt Michael clapping him on the back, no doubt breathing a sigh of relief that they made it through.

"That was a fuckin' close one." Daniel greeted.

"But you made it. We live to fight again." Micheal, ever the optimistic one.

"C'mon, let's get you through media." Blake chimed, looking up from his phone to smile.

Daniel nodded blearily, exhausted. The match has gone on forever, they had been fairly evenly matched. His opponent tended to have more bad days than good and it was unfortunate for Daniel that today was one of his good ones. They made a charismatic pair though, so he knew at the very least, they gave the world a show.

Clambering off the bike, he accepted a cool towel from Micheal and dragged it down his face and neck in appreciation. He traded his sweaty match worn shirt (designed to look like one of his favourite party shirts) for a dry version of the same and the three men followed a volunteer down the maze of hallways to meet the media.

Sitting behind the desk of a thousand microphones, Daniel drank some of his electrolyte drink from a sponsor approved bottle and smiled winningly at the crowd. The questions at the very least were all easy, mentally he knew he couldn't manage anything more taxing. They asked him about his opponent, how he felt about all of the exciting long rallies of the last few sets and how he felt about his opponent's outbursts.

"It always sucks to knock out a fellow Aussie, Nick and I'll have a pint later."

"Those rallies were some of the best I've had all year, I can always count on Nick to bring the heat haha."

"I mean, with Nick I know there's a possibility for anything, so I just focus on me and my own game."

He felt good, they didn't know who his opponent would be, that deciding match up not happening until tomorrow. So Daniel felt confident that they'd let him go about his way with no more questions to ask.

"One last question, if I may." Came a voice from the back of the room. Daniel smiled for the female journalist to continue. "This match up created a social media frenzy as one would expect for the two charismatic Australian players that everyone love to talk about. And we couldn't help but notice that you seem to have collected a new fan base. Outside of the usual tweets and messages from footballers, cricketers and other tennis players, we also saw an uptick from the motorsport community. Have you found some new friends?"

"I was wondering where we were going with this," Daniel chuckled which brought out a smattering of laughs from the group. "That was a long question, but yeah I guess I have. I was at the Monaco Grand Prix a few weeks ago and I started collecting new friends like Pokemon." He stretched his arms behind his head, flexing his biceps a little in his amusement.

"A few world champions too, Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso to name a few." She continued, open ended.

Daniel's smile twitched at hearing Max's name in the context of tennis. At hearing Max being spoken about by people who didn't know him in his sport. He was sure he caught his reaction before anyone else clocked it but it definitely threw him for a second. He was tired but his media brain was always on auto, especially after that 'Australian Open' fiasco.

"They get the best tickets." He replied with a laugh. The assembled group of journos laughed with him and then he was allowed to leave. He did so gratefully, eager to get away from all the cameras and hot mics.

Michael greeted him with a bottle of water and Blake with his phone, the device still vibrating intermittently. Daniel could only imagine how uncontrollably it was going off just twenty minutes ago.

The brain rot guided him to the middle of his notification panel to his text thread with Max. His dick twitched heart flipped seeing that his last received message was an image. Surly Maxy Max wouldn't send him nudes while he was playing for his life!

Surreptitiously he looked around before opening the text thread, his heart thundering in his ears so much that he was not listening to whatever more than likely important information Blake was giving him. The messages loaded up and it was actually two photos. Both not nudes, disappointingly.

The first was a picture from above of Max, still in his driver's suit, folded down to his waist, sitting in his motor home and watching his phone screen intently. Past the brim of his ever present hat, Daniel could make out the brown of the clay of the Roland Garros courts on the rectangular device.

He couldn't fight the tender smile that bloomed on his face even if he wanted to. Something bloomed in his chest, an itch that he'd been starting to associate with Max.

If he couldn't fight the smile at the first picture, he sure as hell wasn’t planning to stop the happy grin from dominating his face at the second. A screenshot of ticket confirmation for the Men’s Semifinals at Stade Roland Garros with Max’s name peered up at him from the screen.

“What’s got you so chuffed?” Micheal asked warily.

“Max is coming to the semis.” Daniel grinned at the two men who rolled their eyes in fond exasperation. He deserved it, he knew he’s been insufferable lately. But he just couldn’t help it.

“You sure you can focus without making googly eyes?” Blake teased.

“I’ll be focused I swear!”

“DR not sure if you know this but you can’t suck his dick while you play.” Micheal deadpanned, smirking as Daniel doubled over in honking laughter, drawing the eyes from people lingering in the wide hallway.

“Oh shit, what if I have to play Novak…maybe he shouldn’t come…” Daniel stopped walking, his face going through multiple complicated emotions. He wanted Max to watch him play for sure, but if he had to play Novak he wasn’t sure if he’d want Max there for the possibility of him being destroyed.

“Let’s not think like that, you don’t even know if it’ll be Novak. We cross that bridge when we get to it, besides, you can beat Novak.” Blake with the logic ladies and gentlemen.

“Just have Max promise you like a blowjob if you win or something. Give you that extra bit to play your heart out.” Aaand trust Mikey to bring the extra logic.

ugh my absolute love hello!! the weekend has in fact treated me rather well. i'm exhausted, but good! i'll give you a little run down :)

it was my birthday recently and for the first time i decided i would have an actual birthday party, which was incredibly intimidating to me as someone who usually dislikes their birthday, but my worries were for naught and it turned out so well. lots of family and friends there. i felt so very loved. i probably (definitely) drank too much. it was a lot of fun. i'm only slightly hungover today which is another plus.

i haven't eaten anything particularly good of late, given i work so much and haven't had the time. but i did have many of my cousin's phenomenal homemade martinis last night. i consider it a win all the same.

also!!! kittens!!!

i found these two absolute darling strays under my building at work and we've been checking up on them the last few days but it seems their mum has left them, so now my family has taken them in. given i have a dog who is an attention whore it's looking like we'll foster them until we can give them to someone else (ideally a friend so i can see them), but in the meantime i have two/three week old kittens and god they're the cutest fucking things. we've named them benny and björn after abba, of course.

i've never really interacted with cats before, but i think i'm in love. i can just hear little mews throughout my day it brings me so much joy.

as for things i'm looking forward to: concerts! who is surprised? i (in a miracle) managed tickets to taylor swift and the week has come!! so i'm thrilled for that. i also have a tiny indie aussie artist the very next night so next weekend should be just as busy and enjoyable, i think.

(also if i can be slightly fan-person-y of you, i'm rather looking forward to when you start releasing your new wip, whenever that may be - no pressure and take all of the time you need but i am also excited!)

today was heckas I woke up from the most fucked nightmare, thought I was getting sick/rundown(I might be?) or maybe my eyes just hurt bc poor sleep quality who knows, but had a really slow morning compared to yesterday (I seem to only have one fully productive day every 4-6months fr), so I just listened to podcasts in bed and didn’t feel well (kept my expectations low) then didn’t get outta bed til like 3pm BUT then proceeded to go for a walk in the rain (I am determined to make myself not despise winter for the first year ever) which slayed so hard (while listening to my audiobook ofc), ate all my meals and then some, drank 2L water(as I set out to do in my post last night), did some laundry, prepared more meal prep for next sem and took a shower(from the floor must add lol)… it is true I am healing myself through the power of delulu lmao jk I feel physically fkd but at least mentally I feel not so bad as a result yipee I just be doing one thing at a time and it be working out in a way :,) extra grateful for the hot shower I just had and the yummmy foooods I consumed I had protein icecream I pre-made for brekky (it’s not rlly icecream but it tastes like it) then I had sausage and egg muffin/sandwich thing I also pre-made and then I had choc up&go after walk (aussies will know) and sweet and sour chicken and rice for din I also pre-made and also I randomly melted frozen berries and super duper dark choc earlier today bc I was bored and it was… interesting :,) also grateful bc was only in pain a few times today (a lot less than lately) and feel slightly less exhausted than yesterday (probs cos I didn’t get out of bed til afternoon) - anyways I didn’t take my camera on my walk bc it was raining and as y’all know I be hiring it and didn’t pay for extra insurance so like yeah nah - so here’s a random pic below from my phone on my walk !! and also my goals for tomorrow are to drink 2L+ again and to cook another meal and I’ll leave it at that bc idk how Im gonna wake up feeling and I don’t wanna feel overwhelmed and like a failure bc then I’ll spiral lmaooo - hope ur day is going fab !!!!

It was a non-racing weekend, so Charles was home with you, while he was training in the yard, you were sitting across from him reading a book "You look so hot exercising, I shouldn't be looking at you, I'm very unfocused with you there" you told him out loud so he could hear you "Maybe you should go to the desk to concentrate chérie" he replied mockingly "Yeah, maybe I should leave you here and go somewhere else" while I got up from the armchair in the garden grabbing the book "No no no, don't go, I like to see you concentrated reading, you are so pretty today" he replied quickly after saying that "Just today?" raising playful eyebrow at me "You always are mon amour, but stay come on" "Okay, since you insist so much I'll stay here, but I'm going to bother as much as I can" "You never bother sweetie" and then he went back to his exercise routine while i started again to read the book, but it was definitely not as interesting as seeing Charles "are you a murderer or why do you stare at me?" started laughing at me "Remind me why I'm with you and not with someone else?" "Cause I'm the love of your life, I'm smart, funny, good with children, and most importantly, I am the most handsome of all the candidates to go out with you" and he was right, although sometimes you doubted one in particular, but since you loved him you were going to accept what he said and give up "It is true, but maybe i should have asked pierre to go out with me" then let out a laugh when I saw the face of astonishment and indignation of Charles "Oh no, you didn't say that" leaving the weights on the floor and then throwing himself on top of me and tickling me "Enough Charles, I'm going to pee, oh my CHARLES I'M SORRY" then he stopped and with a smile he asked me "soo, What did you say?" "I'm sorry babe, you are the best boyfriend i have ever had" said smiling as he got up "I'm going to remember that my whole life, so be ready for me to start telling you every time something happens" "I'm going to take the risk" to finally return to my reading, until no more than twenty minutes had passed when Charles's voice was heard again "I swear, if you keep on doing that, you’ll give me more reasons to love you!” "But I didn't do anything hon" sometimes this man confused me so much "of course you do, you're concentrating reading there and smiling at whatever you're reading, and that's so beautiful, you're beautiful" "Oh love you Charles, what would i do without you?" "Ke t'aime aussi chéri, and answering your question, I don't know what you would do without me" "you idiot "
