My beloved @redsixwing has found and resurrected a prime source of Gundam Wing lore that I was certain had been lost to the sands of time and internet domain obsoletion-- AboutGundamWing.com, thus saving my whole entire goddamn ass. Sixwing, I owe you my life. And my ass. And my ass's life.

I was devastated to discover that it had gone offline when I was compiling sources for this blog, forgetting in my despair that the WAYBACKMACHINE EXISTS to alleviate this very problem!!

AGW had the only source I've ever seen with three different script comparisons for the series. They put together the best and most comprehensive timeline of GW events (pre-Frozen Teardrop) I've seen yet (I'm delighted to discover that the authors had a similar view of classifying canon back in 2007 as myself). It's got a complete glossary of terms, characters, locations, and miscellaneous tech used throughout the series (something I deeply appreciate because I'm obsessed with taking screencaps of all that stuff for my own reference).

Things I will NOT rate on this blog:

Ship content. It doesn't matter the ship. I (the mod, not the Founder persona— though, honestly, this goes for them too) am squicked by basically all ships involving any member of any of the core 3 Dominion species. This isn't a value judgement— on the contrary, it's me acknowledging that I really, really don't want to rate someone's OTP as "Not Cute!" and ruin their fun. You're entitled to your ships. I don't want to rate them, but you're entitled to them.

Anything with a Vorta in Starfleet/allied with the Federation, unless I know you well enough to know we're aligned in our opinions on the matter. This isn't because I think they're better off in the Dominion (though Founder Mod certainly does), but because I'm critical of the Federation as an assimilationist power and I don't like the way a lot of stories about Starfleet Vorta portray joining the Federation as a sign of improvement and recovery. Again, this rule is mostly for your sake. I don't wanna "Not Cute!" someone's beloved OC, no matter how little I like the concept. That would just be incredibly rude of me, and I'm here to have fun and talk about headcanons, not harass people over making creative decisions I wouldn't have made.

Honestly, recovery/deprogramming focused content in general. I am a survivor of institutional and religious abuse and I have very specific opinions about how the aftermath of leaving a high-control environment should be written. Those opinions don't belong on this blog. Also, Founder Mod would not approve and I consider staying in character to be a sacred obligation.

Death scenes. Every "Vorta love to die violently it's like enrichment to them" joke that can be made has already been made, and it's not my sense of humor anyway.

LITTLE HOUSEKEEPING POST

This is a 18+ only writing blog. I don't want to interact with minors even when I am writing SFW stuff. Some new people have started following me (hi and welcome!!!), I didn't have the time to check whether or not they are ageless blog or spam. For this reason I will do some checking and, if you don't have your age in your blog or your blog looks like a spam blog, I will block you.

Grabbed some watercolor paints to add to the options for art, but I'm gonna practice for a while before I actually offer commissions with it. I'll post the results for free here!

Ah dang, it's November already? Incredible. Very inconsiderate of linear time to keep progressing this way.

Anyway, this blog will continue to be slow for a while; I got hit with two devastating back-to-back family losses and then immediately afterwards got sick. So, mental energy reserves at the moment are pretty tapped. Which is very frustrating! because I know exactly what I want to write but I have no juice in the tank to write it. Instead I have been drawing blorbo self care.

On the other hand, I've been doing a lot of informative background reading; Radetzky March by Joseph Roth, Der Rote Kampflieger and a early aviation history stuff, a lot of essays. Plus, I've been catching up with the original U.C. Gundam timeline, which I've been meaning to do since FOREVER. All good things to put in the brain that happen to be tangentially related to GW, for the fixation must feed.

Every time I see new notes and commentary on here I am filled with delight and excitement that people are actually finding my stuff even when I'm not posting. I am also predictably consumed with anxiety about all my less polished entries, frantically editing things behind the scenes knowing full well that this is a futile endeavor for the mistakes have already been immortalized in reblogs... Such is the way.

I hope those who partake had a magnificent Halloween, and that the rest of the year will be kind to you. I know the world is especially violent at present.

For November, have an especially goofy looking Scorpio from the Chartres Cathedral. Look at this idiot. Even his tail looks disappointed.

Not at the moment; I'm trying not to commit and then drop the project when I get bored, and at the moment tagging and queuing submissions is doable for me--but if anyone wants to do a new one for dreamwidth that'd be awesome.

The number of threads I have across all my muses impacts how many new ones I'm willing to pick up. Julius has several that haven't gotten replies in a while, so I'm going to be a bit strict with the 3-month clause and put deadlines on some old threads.

INTRODUCTORY POST:

I don’t expect this blog to get much attention, but tumblr is a quick and simple format that I know I can use to archive this campaign. To begin, hello. If you’re following me thanks so much. I only hope what you see here is interesting and inspires you to make your own materials for D&D 5e. If you have a good grasp on the rules, I recommend giving homebrew a try, even if it’s just a fun item or a busted feat. 5e is very good for custom content, and when it comes to our imaginations, the sky’s the limit.

So, about this campaign. I was driving with my wife and a friend when my friend mentioned how cool it would be if we were all bugs. I agreed and added “oh that would be a funny D&D setting—what if you were a party of bugs?” and we all got a good laugh, and I have basically not stopped thinking about it for two months.

I did things the classic way: I started with a map, decided who lived where, what happened recently to establish The Way Things Are, and what kind of bugs will be the ones to change things up. Then, I leaned into the hyper fixation, creating a potent blend of custom races, somewhat game-breaking items, and definitely game-breaking feats. I gathered 4 of my favorite people together to answer the question “What can I do to make it look like you’re going crazy up there like a little bug?” The players were limited to North American insects, and chose a Beetle, a Mantis, a Bee, and a Cricket. Details on classes and backgrounds will arrive after Session 0.

And that’s how we got Minisculia! It’s a smattering of bug city-states and kingdoms, located entirely within the backyard of an abandoned house, somewhere in American suburbia. 10 years ago (basically like 500 years ago in Bug Years) the Golden Alliance of the Hive defeated the foul Apocritan Wasps in a devastating conflict called the Last War. Now, as a result of the Treaty of Convergence, the two powers keep to their territories and common folk enjoy a tenuous peace. But not all is well. Reports of Red Ant raids in Black Ant territory terrify the peasantry, and have the guards clamoring for action. The Good Queen Bezeera has decreed any adventurers who solve the problem shall earn their weight in Pollen (our stand-in for gold), as well as lands and noble titles. Investigating the crisis will be the party’s unifying goal.

To keep the game itself simple, I ruled that for classes, backgrounds, spells, and equipment we’ll be using the 2014 Player’s Handbook and nothing else. I’d describe the plot as a delicate mixture of a Bug’s Life and Game of Thrones—several factions are vying for power, and most of them are loose collectives of different cultures or military arms of small kingdoms. All of them are bugs, however, and all of them cling to what little power they’ve scratched out for themselves in a big, dangerous world. Will the party join in that unending political game, or will they bring change to the Scattered Kingdoms once more? Time will tell!

Also I’ll be posting bad art and usable 5e content here. Playtest it, tweak it, criticize it for being too strong, ignore it, do whatever you like. But I’ve made too much NOT to share, you know? Like I said up top, I hope you at least find what I post here interesting. I’m excited to play D&D with my friends more than anything.
