warnings: Chemicals, worried Jason, somewhat stubborn reader, mentions of death (may be seen as Brazilian or not).

You and Jason used to share household chores. Nothing too elaborate, just helping each other. But there was one thing you liked to do, clean the bathroom.

And today was Wednesday. House cleaning day. Jason was cleaning the dust off the furniture in the living room and you were cleaning the bathroom in your bedroom.

Chlorine, disinfectant, detergent, fabric softener and something white that you forgot the name of. All of these products you was using to clean the bathroom.

Lastly, you added some water and started scrubbing. It was so customary to do this since you were a teenager that you didn't even care anymore. You started to scrub the floor hard, removing all the mud and dirt you found. Of course it worked, but your eyes started to burn. You didn't care, it was normal.

You continued to scrub, fast and hard, the floor and walls. The strong smell of chemicals started to enter yours nostrils very quickly.

Your head started to spin and you felt like you were losing air. To help, the bathroom didn't have any windows.

As despair covered your mind, you ran to the bathroom door and opened it quickly.

"Jason!" was the last thing you screamed before passing out.

Upon hearing your scream, Jason became worried. He quickly ran to the room and panic covered his face when he saw you on the floor.

"Yn! What happened?!" He took you in his arms and shook your face lightly. He smelled a strong smell of chemicals coming from the bathroom. "Oh God..."

Jason walked with you in his arms to the bed and laid you down on it.

"Princess, wake up, please." Jason caressed your face with his thumb.

You were out for a good 5 minutes. Jason was already thinking about taking you to the hospital, but before he could pick you up again, you started to open your eyes.

"Are you there? Huh?" He asked looking at your eyes opening. He was checking every part of your face for any reaction.

"Jay..." You whispered and then started laughing. Jason looked at you in disbelief and confusion. "I fainted?"

"Yes! Why are you laughing?" He frowned "You could have died! What did you put in there?"

"Calm down, Jaybird..." You felt yourself on the bed with his help. His head was still spinning. You have one last laugh. "I already do this with..." you look into Jason's eyes "often?"

Jason gave you a stern look.

"Are you trying to kill yourself or something?!" He said in a stern voice, the red hood's voice. You shivered.

"No..." You lowered your head "It's not the first time it's happened..."

"What?!" Jason runs his hand through his hair "You kidding, right?"

"Do not do that again." He grabs your face with both hands and makes you look at him "Fuck, just... don't do it! You should at least wear protective gear! I don't know what it would be like if I lost you!"

A Germaphobe Owner with Vil, Rook and Sebek

Your concern for cleanliness is extreme, perhaps too extreme.  To navigate the household situation with such a master is a touchy situation for a pet.  Who will choose to challenge the master’s outlook and who will fall right in line with their fears?  This is a companion fic to Aurora’s Pet AU.

Vil doesn’t sugar coat things; you need therapy.  He insists you start seeing someone for your mental health at the soonest possible availability.  Honestly, he is very supportive of you.  Vil views self-improvement as one of life’s highest goals.  There is nothing wrong with seeking help to improve your health and Vil is fully ready to help you along with any “homework” the therapist gives you.

One of the first things your therapist suggests is that you try to become more comfortable with the idea of not being 100% clean.  Vil suggests you join him for his morning yoga routine.  You now join him daily to gently work out, side by side.  You work up a mild sweat and it is uncomfortable, but the meditative qualities of yoga also help you focus your mind from your grimy situation.  As soon as you finish though, its straight to a bath!

As a reward for completing your yoga, Vil also lets you join in on his daily facial.  Its personal cleanliness with a purpose.  Vil will personally customize a routine just for you.  He is very careful to pick out gentle products that won’t harm you with frequent use.  He is conscious that you might wash your hands or face several times during the average day.

Vil knows change doesn’t happen overnight.  Until you can overcome your phobia, he will help you along.  When you attend parties together, Vil will stay at your side.  He expertly deflects others from coming in personal contact with you.   Stepping forward to initiate a handshake in your place, a gentle hand on an elderly lady’s elbow to steer her away from your little personal bubble or stepping in front of you to block others from coming too close.  As a celebrity pet, he knows how to manage situations like these.  Just keep working on yourself and leave the rest to me, Master.

Rook likes to observe people.  A master like you with such strange habits is truly a joy to him.  What an opportunity to see such unique things; the look the mayor gave you when he shook your hand and you immediately washed it with a disinfectant wipe.  Tres bien!  Sometimes, Rook might even stand by and allow you to encounter a mess, just to see how you behave.  Like that time you were carrying a bag of groceries inside when a gust of wind blew some dead leaves inside the house.  Sure, he could have closed the door before they reached it but watching you try to decide if you wanted to set the bag on the floor to chase out the leaves or put your things away first, Beaute 100%!

Rook knows where to draw the line between observing your struggles and taking action.  You don’t even realize it, but he routinely takes care of many alarming messes before you even notice them.  Like the day the local trees scattered pollen all over your car.  You walk outside to head to work, and Rook is just packing away the sponge and bucket.  Surprise!  He washed the car!  You’ll never need to know about the germ packed sight that would have awaited you otherwise.

Serving a beautiful master like you is part of what Rook considers his life’s works.  Even if he is a bit mischievous in watching you, he always helps in the end.  No task is too big or small for him.  He will help you dust the cans of soup in the cabinets with the same seriousness as cleaning out the gutters.  If you want to thank him, just keep him company.  When you recite him a poem you composed yourself (about cleaning), he is over the moon.  Whistle while you work.  What a lovely sentiment Master, I will hold it in my heart.

Sebek stands before you like a knight prepared for battle.  In place of a sword and dagger, he has a plunger in hand and a feather duster tucked into his belt.  He is armored in an apron and yellow rubber gloves.  The battle of the bathroom is just beginning, and the villainous germs will be defeated!  You gaze at Sebek posing with determination in his eyes, and you know he is truly your own white knight.

Sebek has a duty, one he takes very seriously, and that duty is to fight grime.  He has a set schedule he keeps of patrolling the house to look for any potential germs.  No microscopic invader will escape his endless vigilance.  You are happy to finally have someone to share your concerns with.  Any strange idea you have about germs or cleanliness, Sebek will soak up like age-old wisdoms.  Please teach him more so he can do his duties even better!

When you must venture forth from your safe clean home, you always have Sebek accompany you.  He rushes to open doors and wipe down surfaces you must touch.  You know you are in good hands with Sebek around!  One day, he even jumped in front of you to protect you from a drooling dog dangerous beast in the neighborhood.  WORRY NOT MASTER, THE FOUL FIEND WILL TROUBLE YOU NO MORE!  He really is your hero.

with that out of the way, hi. here's a medkit i threw together out of the stuff i have in my household supplies. these are australian products and i took this like, two months ago to post on private and forgot to share here.

honorable mentions missing here are bottled water (important for rinsing wounds clean of debris and substances of skin), package of bandaids (for small wounds that can be easily covered), and a tourniquet.

a friend of mine was great enough to give me feedback on the kit (it's good, just needs identifying on where to store it while protesting and what else needs to put in), and suggested:

compressed gauze

powderless nitrile gloves

masks because you're going to be in crowds of people and god fucking dammit nobody takes covid seriously

and, the tourniquet.

and one that i suggest with high caution:

any essential medication the twelve can not try and pin you for. if you get pulled to the side and have a restrictive practice object on you, they'll try anything.

A quick note about the makeup pads I will go over in the item description after the image: alcohol swabs are for cleaning, not drying. the makeup pads are what you use to dry the wound. i've suggested makeup pads here because they're all around applicators, generally inexpensive, and compact.

Storing your medkit: have a designated medkit carrier. if you have to carry semi or fully restrictive medications, or have a lot of people therefore a lot of supplies, or feel as if that might slow you down, store it in your vehicle so you both have a medical station AND a safe place to keep it. most people have a first aid box in their cars nowadays- it's not unusual, and they cannot fucking arrest you for having one in there.

Regular medkit checks: Before the protest, make sure your consumables are still within their expiries. Swap out old medication, put in new stuff. Disinfectant also spoils over time. Make sure single use things like bandaids, swabs, blister packs for pain management aren't broken or opened to expose the contents to outside elements.

Allergies and intolerances: Before you meet up for the protest, ideally, is when you make sure you have your medical bracelets on your person. That way if something happens to cause you to be unable to speak or communicate effectively and a person you do not know tries to give you treatment, they can determine whether you can or not receive particular forms. Common bracelets have penicillin, and diabetes, but can be engraved to have any ailment on them. Look out for a medical bracelet, necklace, or any other form of ID when giving treatment to an unresponsive person.

1: Bandage clasps/bobby pins. Carry as many as you want, important for fixing wound covers.

2. Alcohol swabs. Good for quick cleaning of wounds.

3. Makeup pads/ tissues/ anything good for cleansing and packing wounds. These will take up room in your kit, but are worth having.

4. Antiseptic ointment. Needed for things that look infected. Good for awkward placed wounds that need to be disinfected.

5. Liquid disinfectant. Much stronger than the ointment, can be used to disinfect wounds. Also much better for disinfecting equipment.

6. Bandages. Used in conjunction to your clasps and bobby pins. Watch a few videos on different limb wrapping techniques, practice on yourself or a friend. Get them to do the same to you. Medium crepe is recommended for general purpose woundwrapping.

7. Paper tape. Used for packing down wound dressings from under the bandage.

8. Bars of soap. Useful for unsticking zippers, and can be used to clean equipment and clothes. Incredibly useful.

9. Aspirin and other pain managements. Ensure you have an alternative to penicillin products- very common allergy. Would not carry more than one sheet per person for obvious reasons. Avoid taking very strong pain managers that can be both confiscated as dangerous drugs and pin you for assumed trafficking.

Not included: bottled water (for rinsing, drinking, cleaning) and a tourniquet (i hope you never have to use this in a protest, but you can never be too careful), as well as a box of disposable masks. A plastic bag or two would not be harmful, either.

Husband texts from the store…so many reminders of “things you gotta teach your kids regardless of gender.”

It took many separate instances of “this store doesn’t have cake flour” “okay FUCK I guess I’ll make my own per the Sally’s baking addiction method” before I thought to tell him “cake flour is in a box and not a bag, often it’s tucked away near cake mixes and other boxed baking things.”

(Adorably, he has said he checks now with other men looking lost staring at bags of flour, whether they are maybe looking for cake flour…so far he has only found men looking for other special flours but it’s good for moral support - also he does know now that almond flour is often by natural foods and not baking needs 😂)

Anyway today it was “there’s no unscented bleach” so we had to learn about how bleach can be found in the laundry section OR the household cleaning section, and sometimes the varieties of bleach will be different between those sections.

But I still didn’t end up with real bleach - and after some searching on the target app I think it was due to confusion re: “yes there are bleaches with scents added, and I DEFINITELY don’t want those, but also no bleach is going to say “fragrance free*” cause that’s not how bleach is, unless it’s this weird Seventh Generation, chlorine free, not meant for real disinfecting, bleach you have brought home for me to be sad about.

*and no I didn’t ask for fragrance free bleach cause why would I, BUT in general I’m so scent sensitive that he has hammered into his brain “any time Meredith asks me for soap/detergent/cleaning product it needs to say fragrance free on the package” and doesn’t know that there are some things you can’t get fragrance free, like bleach or ammonia.

The spokeswoman for their commercials is a very energetic and enthusiastic. She has this whole other career outside of Pine Sol, but all most people recognize her and her voice from Pine Sol.

In recent years, the new nano sponge has become popular because it is ideal for cleaning stubborn stains and does not require any chemical cleaning agents. So where does the cleaning superpower of the nano sponge come from?

The main component of the nano sponge is a melamine resin foam, made from melamine and formaldehyde polymerisation. In addition, formaldehyde itself is a water-soluble and chemically unstable substance and can be removed by placing it in a ventilated area or rinsing with water before use. If you buy a nano sponge from a qualified merchant, ventilate it for a period of time, rinse it and then use it, you can basically avoid the danger of formaldehyde!

Mag Safeguard #SafeWash Even at Home | Safeguard

In the Philippines, welcoming a family member, whether it is the parents or the children, with a warm hug and kisses is a very common practice. However, ever since the pandemic started, even these traditions were restricted between families when the new normal policy of going out was implemented. According to the World Health Organization (2020), COVID-19 can be transmitted through direct contact by mouth and nose secretion and indirect contact through contaminated objects and surfaces. Hence, several products were released through advertisements to promote protection to people around the world.

Safeguard, a well-known anti-bacterial and anti-fungal soap, released an advertisement regarding protection and shield against the virus. The advertisement titled “Mag Safeguard #SafeWash Even at Home” was aired on March 11, 2021, depicting a short story about a family. The story starts in a set-up where a common Filipino household practice is shown where the children and mother at home are very excited to meet their father, who came from work. The pre-pandemic practice was shown where the children welcomed their father with a hug; however, the advertisement depicted a giant character of bacteria which portrays the father. Here, it was shown that the germs and bacteria were then transferred to the children, which may cause them harm by catching mild to severe diseases.

Through the given situation, the main goal of the advertisement was shown where they promoted the body soap that is proven to kill 99.9% of bacteria they have gathered outdoors and protected them for 24 hours. This brings a message to the intended viewers from the age range between toddlers and adults that it is best to immediately clean up when one comes from an outdoor setting before getting in touch with the family physician. This will prevent each member of the household from carrying and transferring communicable diseases to one another and will keep a healthy state that also benefits maintaining the strong immune system to fight bacteria and viruses several places and objects could bring. The commercial delivery was portrayed to give an entertaining appeal to young audiences so that they could visually imagine how much it would affect them and the entire family if ever they did not practice proper hygiene. It was also intended to give proper lessons to adult audiences about how much their family and/or children might get sick through their household practices. 

The media was conveyed with involving one of media manipulation, a hoax. Claiming that the soap could kill 99.9% of germs and bacteria as well as 24-hour protection was a little exaggerated because several studies proved that no product could totally wipe out that many pathogens we hold. According to Medline Plus (2020), using strong chemicals and alcohol are the only ones that could swipe off a huge percentage of bacteria. This means that for skin types, no products are really made to kill such amount of bacteria; however it could lessen them.

CCSDIV - Central Control for the Spread of Disease, Infection and Virus PPE - Personal Protective Equipment

Neterar'iris have three levels of biosecurity. Home safety, which is the lowest. Sterile Communities, which is the middle range. External communities, the highest. It should be noted that immunity has built up over time and with each generation born inside the Prime Nexus they are gradually becoming more immune to the local environment.

All biosecurity measures are recommended and enforced by the CCSDIV which is a world-wide organization that works to ensure the wellbeing and health of all Neterar'irians.

Home Safety

These have the lowest amount of safety measures. Neterar'iris who live in the same dwelling are considered safe, so PPE is not required. Quarantine measures are taken if someone is sick. Usually they are sealed in the Quarantine Suite (complete with a bed, bath and kitchenette) until they are no longer ill or contagious. Sometimes whole households quarantine just in case anyone is a carrier.

When having guests over, it is advised that everyone wears PPE. Dwellings have special rooms called Mohi (Moe-high) that they receive guests in. These rooms are sterilized after each visit and have special sealing doors which prevent any foreign bacteria from entering the rest of the house. Neterar'iris going in and out of the Mohi shower off any potential bacteria before entering the rest of the house. It is unheard of to receive guests in the living space of one's home.

Sterile Communities

Sterile communities are Neterar'iris neighbourhoods. They are made up of several dwellings in the same building. Neterar'iris need to sterilize before entering or exiting sterile communities, and this is done so through a disinfectant chamber (which sprays a light mist of sanitizer on the Neterar'iris inside). If someone wants to open a window in a sterile community, the room they are in seals to prevent the spread of bacteria. The air is cycled outside and cleaned after they close the window, before they can leave the room.

Sterile communities legally have to have grocery stores so that their residents can have access to safe food. They can have other stores, such as clothing or hardware stores, but they're not legally required. Any store in a sterile community is required to quarantine their products for at least a week before selling them. Perishables are stored in an enchanted quarantine unit to prevent them from going bad.

Sterile Communities are shaped similar to Rem'j. They utilize smooth shapes instead of angles, having a drop-like body and ovular housing units. Each housing unit is attached around a main body, and can curve over the top of pathways connecting the bodies. There are typically 3-9 bodies in a cluster, with an average of 2-3 housing units per body. Housing units can also have windows, which either are one-way and cannot be seen from the outside, or bubble-like for Neterar'iris to sit inside. At the top of every main body is a funnel which collects rain water, that is stored in tanks. This water can be recycled for the filtration system, as well as the watering system for the garden in the center of housing units. This garden is open to all residents.

External Communities

External communities have the least amount of biosecurity measures. It is harder to ensure everything is sterile in a larger community, as external communities are Neterar'iris cities. While they have biosecurity measures such as wearing PPE, washing your hands regularly, using hand sanitizer, and encouraging people sick to stay home, they don't have mandatory cleansing spaces.

External communities can have many stores, including grocery stores. They are not required to sterilize their products for a week, and some people consider external grocery stores "better quality" because they are preservative-enchantment-free. Retail stores are primarily found in External Communities, as they can get business from many sterile communities.

Spaces such as hospitals, clinics, schools and government buildings have biosecurity measures. You need to use a disinfectant chamber when entering and exiting.
