I have to transfer my deposit to my solicitor soon and I’m terrified. I did the hard bit - saving the money - but I’m so convinced I’ll put the wrong number in and send all my money to a random stranger by accident

The slow move has started. Because we had to give 60 days notice to our apartment management we will close on the house 33 days before we have to be out of our apartment. The plan right now is to pack things we won't need for a while and move them after we close. We'll probably be in the new place at the end of October and living there full time. The things we want to sell, donate, or take to the dump will stay at the apartment until we have the time to deal with them.
The goal right now is to pack at least one box every day off we have. We'll probably do more than that but we really don't want to stress ourselves out about moving since we have so much time.

My 27 year old boyfriend while viewing a house today:
*sees floor length windows* "Damn, people going past will see my knees tho :(((((((("
*in the bathroom* "Do you think the sales rep would mind if I took a shower?"
*sees my face in the kids room which is adorable* "Nope. Don't go getting ideas."
*turns a light on in a cupboard and blinds himself*
Bonus:
I was commenting on how nice the sales rep was and how helpful with my questions and he goes
"You do realise he doesn't come with the house right." I'm devastated. I thought we could become a throuple with the sales rep ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

Can Any Indian Citizen Buy A Property In North East India?
The Modi administration declared significant modifications to legislation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on October 26th, using powers provided to the Centre underneath the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act 2019.
The headline modifications basically allow outsiders to acquire land in J&K by eliminating legislation and statutory rules of the former state that prohibited the ownership of property in J&K to 'permanent inhabitants'.
The lifting of limitations on outsiders purchasing land in J&K has long been hailed by proponents of the Modi government's decision to terminate the former state's special status. Governor Manoj Sinha has lauded the move's industrial ramifications, while BJP politicians like Sambit Patra have enthusiastically declared on social networks that anyone may now buy property in J&K.
Non-tribal people and foreigners are not permitted to purchase land in Sixth Schedule territories, while the Northeast has various state-specific regulations.
As Article 244 of the Indian Constitution, the Sixth Schedule contains provisions for the governance of tribal territories in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Mizoram.
Mizoram and Nagaland (except Dimapur) are, on the other hand, protected by Articles 371G and 371A of the Indian Constitution, and indigenous people have land ownership rights, and several states in the area have Inner Line Permit (ILP) provisions.
The Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution empowers Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) to pass rules prohibiting foreigners from purchasing tribal territory.
Articles 371A for Nagaland and 371G for Mizoram have provided specific authority to refuse any new Acts of Parliament until adopted by a resolution voted by the state's legislative assembly and to defend their rights to their land, customs, and religion.
Inner Line Permit (ILP) is relevant in Mizoram, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh underneath the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation of 1873, which requires citizens from other parts of India to obtain permits to enter these states in order to control influx, and outsiders are not permitted to acquire property in the Sixth Schedule and other tribal areas, such as the hills of Manipur.
Prestone Tynsong, Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, stated that there are Sixth Schedule and non-Sixth Schedule territories in Meghalaya.
"There are certain provisions for non-tribal people to acquire land in non-Sixth Schedule regions, including sections of the state capital Shillong as well as some grasslands of the Garo Hills area," Tynsong added.
Assam has several Sixth Schedule regions, and many parts fall underneath the tribal belt, where non-tribal people cannot acquire land. Under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, there are three Autonomous Councils: the Bodoland Territorial Council, the Dima Hasao Autonomous District Council, and the Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council.
Aside from these, Assam has 17 tribal straps and 30 blocks in the districts of Morigaon, Tinsukia, Darrang, Sonitpur, Nagaon, Lakhimpur, Kamrup, Goalpara, Dhemaji, and Bongaigaon, and four districts under the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) where non-tribals are prohibited from purchasing land.

I'm buying a house and I hate every second of the process. If I go to hell I know my own personal torment would be having to buy a house (but not actually getting the house) just on a loop for eternity. It's like they go "this is the biggest thing in Jessica's life and is going to use up most of her savings so even though we're experts in this and she knows nothing, let's just not tell her anything we're doing and then randomly ask her to send us information urgently." And I can't even ask for Tumblr wisdom because the Scottish house buying process is very particular so people I know who bought in England won't be remotely helpful. I'm supposed to legally own this house in 17 days but I haven't even handed in my notice to my landlord as I have no idea what's going on.
#non royal#personal#house buying#I know I'm very fortunate to be able to buy a house#but the whole process of doing it is just all the things I hate mushed together#and I am never buying another home again#I will die in this place

So I'm saving up to buy a house, right, but beyond the saving money aspect of house buying, I do not understand house buying. I can do math, but what the fuck are all these like checkpoints I have to pass? Do I need a real estate agent to go see a house? I can just walk into an open-house right? What if I'm planning to buy in another state? How do I avoid HOAs? Why is everyone waiving inspections??? Why is this so confusing???
#i've done minimal research thus far as I'd like to put as much down as possible and I'm a ways away from 20% for the HCoL area I'm looking @#but i should probably start figuring this out soon...#house buying

A little home buying update (that ended up requiring a read more apparently):
We are now 15 days out from closing on our house. We had the Blue Tape Inspection today which I didn't know was a thing before we got started on this process. It's where the buyer of a new build goes around and puts a piece of painter's tape on whatever needs to be addressed by the builder before closing. We had a few scuff marks on walls, paint that needs to be touched up, a doorknob that got dented somehow after instillation that needs to be replaced. Lots of fun and stress. We also measured out a few spaces for furniture reasons. After that we took a few boxes to my Mother-In-Law's for storage before we move. She lives way closer to our new house than I would really like but I also know she's not going to just randomly drive over to our house because she's not like that. THOUGH, remind me after we've closed on the house to tell you a funny story about the time she DID just randomly drop by the house.
I have the day off from work so after we got home I packed a couple of boxes, went to the gym, read for a couple of hours. I've been trying to take it a little easier today than I normally do on a day off lately. There's really not a TON I can pack right now with the lack of storage we have in this apartment for packed boxes. Plus I'm going to probably have a really stressful month at my job until I get transferred the day before Halloween (because my current boss is petty as shit and hates that I'm the 5th person in the past 6 months to get a transfer--yes, literally 5 of us in my department, and there have been more since my request to transfer).
Speaking of near Halloween! We also hired our movers. We're actually going to sell or take to the dump a lot of our living room furniture so the cost is lower than expected. We're only taking a loveseat with us from that set. We've had this furniture since I moved in with my husband about a decade ago so it seriously needs to be replaced. We just kept saying "Oh, we'll buy a new couch when we buy a house." "Oh, we'll replace the table with all the kitten claw marks in it when we get a house." So, I guess it's going to be the day soon enough.
#let me know if you want any photos of the stuff I have purchased for the house already#it's all super small because I don't want to not get the house because I wanted to go shopping for the house#they apparently pull your credit and bank statements multiple times between application and closing on the house#who knew#first time home buyer#first time buyer#personal#an update#of sorts#house buying#house hunting#moving#moving house

Bruce, for the record, is absolutely stoked when Jason brings Roy around.
Because this now means that he is a grandpa. He is so ready to be a grandpa. Let him be a grandpa. Please please please please-
(finally, he gets to just give things to someone. anything they want. (finally, he gets to give Jason so much money and things and Jason can't say no because they are for Lian too))
The thing is, now he is in a very deep and serious rivalry with Oliver, who will not be replaced as the number one grandpa. Absolutely not. So now they are waging war on each other for Lian's affections.
It's messy and it's bloody.
One day, during a JLA meeting, Green Arrow notices something peeking from underneath Batman's suit. It's colorful, so it stands starkly against the dark suit. It looks very familiar.
Green Arrow looks down on his hands. At the friendship bracelet Lian had made for him. He looks back up at Batman and the very familiar colorful thing he has on him.
"What is that?" He asks.
Batman turns to look at him. He follows Green Arrow's gaze, and looks at the colorful thing on him, and then at the bracelet on Green Arrow's wrist.
"What is that?" Batman asks, nodding at the bracelet.
"I asked you first."
"I asked you second."
Green Arrow glares at Batman.
"It's a friendship bracelet my granddaughter made for me", he says.
Batman glares at Green Arrow.
"And this is a friendship bracelet my granddaughter made for me", he says.
They glare at each other. The meeting room has become several degrees colder. No one dares to utter a word.
Then they both pull out their phones and make a call.
"Jason-"
"Roy-"
Jason and Roy, in their bed, both realising that their dad's are calling them at the same time: fuck whatever it is, we're going back to sleep
#this all just FUELS IT even more#because damn it! Oliver is not going to lose to BATMAN of all people#jason and roy meanwhile are pondering which one of them would be easier to get to buy them a house#since all the stuff they are buying Lian is not going to fit into their apartment for much longer#dc#jayroy#batman#bruce wayne#oliver queen#green arrow#jason todd#roy harper#arsenal#red hood

At this point, house prices aren't even the biggest barrier for me. It's the speed in which they get purchased. Even when I do find a decent house that I can afford, it's gone before I can even consider it. A house is a big fucking purchase that needs to be planned out, and peeps out here buying houses 2-3 days on the market like it's a PS5. CHILL!
