hi! i haven’t really been paying attention to the fandom for awhile, are there any upcoming events with Yana and twst voice actors like the one that was held last summer? or even any fan events at all?
thanks for always being helpful!
Hello hello! ^^ Thank you for this question!
There is something interesting happening with two certain seiyuu at an upcoming anime event !
Back in July the official Twst account announced that the voice actors for Ace and Deuce will be appearing at the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2024 in September to represent Twisted Wonderland, and I have been wondering about it ever since 👀
Tumblr media
Of what else has been announced at the moment I believe there are two events(?) that are overlapping, but they can maybe be considered more independent of Yana/the voice actors and more closely aligned with food! ^^
Tumblr media
The first is the "Special Course Meal at Empire Grill," which has been running since April of this year! The Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw and Octavinelle courses are completed as of this post, with the Scarabia menu scheduled for the end of October! ^^
Ruggie and Jack's VAs have done two different video reports on this ongoing event at the Empire Grill, available on YouTube!
Report 1 - Report 2
More information available on the official website, and below!
The second is the return of the Twst Cafes! 🥳
Tumblr media
Officially announced just last week, the cafes will be available in three different cities in Japan with dates depending on where you go!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The cafes will be mixing the two themes of "Glorious Masquerade" and "Stage in Playfulland," with a croissant set for one and a fried tuna set for the other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also offered will be a grape yogurt dessert for Glorious Masquerade, a rose-colored yogurt dessert for Playfulland and various themed drinks! ^^
Information and reports from two of the cafes of 2022: ・General summary with official photos ・Example of Octavinelle "glass set" ・The soy-cream pasta set with Scarabia "bottle set" ・The pancake set ・Octavinelle "bottle set" with tofu-keema curry ・The tartar sauce hamburger set ・Final day (cafe from outside)
Concerning the "Twst Fes" event of last summer, there has been no announcement as of this post!
The Twst Fes event of 2023 was first announced in April and then held in August, so it is possible that an event of a similar size might need to be announced a few months in advance, possibly? No news as of yet!
Instead of an in-person stage event with live streaming and full cast attendance, 2024 saw a radio-show style talk show hosted by the VAs for Lilia and Malleus, where they discussed the plot and various happenings connected to Book 7 ^^
Available now on YouTube, here!

Up to 7-4 summarized here!

The first build-a-birth prompt that came in and oh my God was it fun to write holy shit lol.
It got so long that I decided to split it into two parts, though 😅 so here's part one lmao. Also there will be twins - Atlas just doesn't know they've got twins in there so part two is gonna be pretty wild for them lol.
Word Count: 2.8k
Characters Used: Atlas (nonbinary afab OC) & Fen (cis-male OC)
WARNINGS: nonbinary character giving birth, birth denial, clothing birth, public birth, orgasm during labor. Also - I do use AFAB terms to describe the characters' genitalia so please be aware of that.
If it weren't already obvious, this is a birth/labor fetish fic so if you are a minor or not into that then DO NOT INTERACT. You have been warned.
Everyone had joked about how Atlas would end up going into labor during their baby-moon despite being only 36 weeks along. By the end of it they were beginning their 37th week, but even so their due date wasn't for three more weeks so it was easy to laugh those concerns off.
Except Atlas had been feeling increasingly more intense contractions since they left their hotel that morning that they were trying to brush off as Braxton hicks contractions.
At least until a small gush of fluid left a size-able damp spot on Atlas' leggings and made them realize they couldn't stay in denial for much longer about what was happening.
They were in labor.
Though, technically, labor didn't start during the baby-moon itself.
No, it started as they were leaving.
Now they were several hours away from the next stop and even further away from home where Atlas had everything set up to have a nice, relaxing, empowering birth with just themselves and their husband.
"Shit," Atlas grumbled, shifting uncomfortably in the seat and pressing his forehead against the cool glass of the window as he felt a contraction start.
"Babe? You alright?"
Atlas glanced over at their husband, hazel eyes peaking out from behind blue and green dyed bangs. "My water broke," they mumbled in an exhale, taking in another deep breath and squeezing their eyes shut as they felt the pressure deep inside their pelvis drop even lower.
"Oh... Oh!" Fen exclaimed, having taken a moment to fully comprehend what Atlas said. "Guess those weren't just Braxton hicks contractions, huh?" Fen chuckled nervously, reaching over to take Atlas' hand.
"Yeah, guess not," Atlas sighed as the contraction passed.
"Do you think we'll make it home?" Fen asked, "If not I can look at hotels around the next stop. It won't be home but at least it won't be on a bus."
"Um," Atlas paused, thinking back to when the contractions first started around 10AM. It was nearly 6PM now, but for the majority of the time the contractions weren't too bad. The last half hour or so, Atlas had noticed growing pressure against his hips and lower back but assumed it was from the not-very-comfy bus seats. But then their water broke and that pressure had gotten worse without the cushion. "I don't know," they answered after a few seconds.
"Okay, how about... I'll book us a hotel near the next stop just in case and we'll reassess once we get there," Fen offered.
Atlas nodded their approval of the plan, grateful for Fen's ability to think logically even in panic-inducing moments.
Over the next two hours, Fen gently coached Atlas through contraction after contraction. The deep rumble of his voice, strong hand holding Atlas', and his general presence helped immensely to keep Atlas calm and focused despite everything else.
At some point Fen pushed the armrest between them out of the way so Atlas could lean on him, making for a much comfier position than sitting upright like they had been.
"There's... a lot of pressure," Atlas said between softly panted breaths. "I don't think it'll be much longer," they added.
"Okay, we should be at the stop soon," Fen reassured, draping an arm over Atlas' shoulders to gently rub circles against Atlas' swollen stomach. "Then we can go straight to the hotel and have this baby like we planned," Fen said, voice dipping into a low purr against Atlas' ear.
It made a shiver go down Atlas' spine, clit throbbing and making them aware of exactly how aroused they already were just from Fen talking to them and giving them instructions - even if those instructions were mainly how and when to breathe.
God, Atlas wished they were home.
A contraction brought Atlas out of their thoughts, making them tense until Fen reminded them to relax and breathe through it.
That was getting really hard, but Atlas made an effort. They took in a deep breath, trying to relax their body as much as they could as they let that breath out slowly.
"Again, babe, do it again," Fen urged, reaching down to massage the outside of Atlas' thigh where the muscles were still all tense.
"Ngh," Atlas grunted as they sucked in another breath, screwing their eyes shut as the contraction peaked and the pressure between their hips increased tenfold. Hardly even realizing it, they found themselves bearing down against it for the remainder of the contraction.
Once it was done, Atlas shifted to reposition so they were leaning back against Fen, one foot up on the seat and the other on the floor. The position let them spread their thighs a bit more and they moaned softly when they felt that pressure drop deep into their pelvis. "H-Hey, Fen," they mumbled, unable to help but rock their hips a little, "I think I have to push."
Fen didn't reply right away, lifting his head to glance around the bus first. There weren't many people, thankfully, and it seemed like they'd be getting to the bus stop soon but neither of them were sure if it'd be soon enough. "Okay. We're almost to the stop and the hotel is just around the corner from there. Try to breathe through it until we get there," Fen instructed, calm aside from a slight tremble to his otherwise even voice.
"I'll try, but..." Atlas trailed off, feeling their midsection tighten in another strong contraction.
"You got this, love. I know it's hard, I know you want to push but let's breathe through it," Fen cooed, his voice low and lips brushing against Atlas' ear as he spoke. "Feel the pressure, notice it and accept it as you breathe," he instructed, taking slow even breaths for Atlas to follow.
"Yeah, 'm feeling th-the pressure," Atlas groaned in one quick exhale, screwing their eyes shut and trying their best to match Fen's breathing. What really got them through the intense heavy pressure urging them to push, though, was focusing on Fen's fingers rubbing their thigh.
"You're doing so good sweet-tart," Fen rumbled, "Focus on my voice and we'll get through this."
Atlas nodded, unable to answer as they tried not to make a lot of noise. They could feel that heaviness shift and move down, knowing the baby's head was fully engaged and working its way through their cervix by now.
"You've got this, babe, doing so good for me," Fen purred as the contraction peaked.
There was only so much Atlas could do, though, when the contractions were doing enough to work the baby down through their cervix even without them pushing.
Just as the contraction was ending, there was a loud 'boom' and the bus jolted, tires screeching as it came to a very sudden stop.
Within half a second of the sound, Fen had both arms wrapped tight around Atlas and didn't loosen his grip until the bus was completely stopped.
"Fuck, Atlas are you okay?" Fen asked, calm facade breaking for a moment as panic crept into his voice.
"Yeah, I think so," Atlas answered, taking a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm their racing heart. "Are you?"
"Yeah," Fen nodded, pressing a kiss against the top of Atlas' head.
"Sorry, folks!" the bus driver exclaimed, "Sounds like a tire gave up on us. The station has already been notified, though and someone should be here within the hour to fix us up."
Fen and Atlas sat in silence for a few seconds as that information sunk in. There was no way Atlas was going to make it through an extra hour - they were cutting it extremely close anyway.
"Fen," Atlas mumbled, tilting their head to look at their husband, "I don't know if... if we'll make it."
A small frown tugged at Fen's lips before he slowly answered, "Should we call an ambulance?"
"No," Atlas snapped, panic rising at just the mention of going to a hospital - especially one that was away from their home town that Atlas had never been to.
They've had enough medical trauma and shitty doctors to give them a lifetime of distrust for hospitals.
"Okay - That's okay," Fen reassured, finding one of Atlas' hands to hold. "Let's still try to breathe through it and we'll see how far we get."
"'Kay," Atlas grunted, hand tightening around Fen's as pain and pressure overwhelmed them.
The next couple of contractions went similarly, Atlas following Fen's instructions while trying to keep themselves quiet even as the pressure kept moving lower. It was getting difficult, though, especially when the intensity of the pressure didn't lessen at all after the most recent contraction ended.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck. Nghhh," Atlas whined, squirming against Fen as they tried to find some sort of position that wouldn't be as terrible. "So much pressure," they complained, arching their back a little before collapsing against Fen with a defeated whine.
"I could give you a distraction, if you want," Fen offered, one of his hands trailing down over Atlas' swollen stomach to rub against the inside of their thigh before gently trailing over the seam of their leggings.
"Ah!" Atlas gasped at the unexpected sensation, their clit already swollen and sensitive from how Fen had been talking before. "Please," they said in a rush of air, thighs twitching open more.
Taking a glance around, Fen slipped his hand into Atlas' leggings once he was sure no one would see. "There you go, sweets, just focus on my hand and my voice," Fen encouraged, quickly finding Atlas' swollen clit and slowly rubbing circles over it.
Dropping his head back against Fen's shoulder, Atlas bit back a moan. It did help, though, able to focus on a different sensation rather than pain and pressure. "Sh-shit," Atlas groaned as another contraction hit and Fen sped up his fingers as it peaked. The pleasure took the edge off of the pain but stood no chance against easing the pressure and urges to push that Atlas felt. "Ngh! Ah, f-fuck," Atlas grunted as the contraction peaked.
Fen was telling them to pant through it, suck in air and then blow it out, do whatever they could just so they weren't holding their breath. That was hard, though, and Atlas found themselves giving little pushes with every forced exhale.
They didn't have a choice in the matter and fuck did it feel good to give in a little bit.
It was only after the contraction ended that Atlas realized on top of the pressure there was a new sensation just below their cervix - like they were being stretched and filled to their breaking point.
Everything was so intense, though, Atlas couldn't even say anything about it. They were reduced to a squirming, whimpering mess as the pleasure warred with the discomfort and that urge to push completely overtook them when their abdomen tightened again.
And Atlas was right - it felt so good to finally do what their body wanted them to.
Between that and Fen's fingers moving expertly over their clit, Atlas found themselves on the verge of an orgasm as they gasped in a breath and pushed.
That's what did it, Atlas unable to help but cry out and buck their hips as the orgasm washed over them even as their body kept bearing down.
By the time Atlas was coming down from that absolutely incredible orgasm, they could feel that that heaviness had completely filled their cunt and they were sure if they pushed just a little more that their lips would start to bulge and part.
"Oh my God, are you having a baby?!"
The shrill voice of a concerned stranger made Atlas' face go bright red, realizing she probably had heard them cumming just now.
Fen didn't remove his hands from Atlas' leggings which made Atlas' face burn even brighter as Fen tried to reassure the worried passenger.
Atlas was past the point of being able to speak coherently, though, especially as another contraction started not even seconds later.
"Oh - Ah - Nghh - No," Atlas whined as quietly as they could, their body now pushing without their consent. "Oh God, oh God. Fen!" Atlas gasped, feeling their hole start to stretch as the baby's head started to inch out.
But Fen was still trying to convince the lady - and now several other worried passengers - not to call 911 because they had it handled and that Atlas didn't want to go to the hospital.
Groaning through gritted teeth, Atlas felt the baby's head slide back in as the contraction ended. But they didn't get that relief for long, their contractions almost on top of each other by now.
Atlas hardly even noticed the small crowd that had gathered around their seat, all of their focus on trying (and partially failing) not to push again.
It didn't make much of a difference, though.
The baby's head was slowly making its way through. Every contraction brought it out further and further even though it always slipped back in as soon as the contractions were over.
At least until it didn't.
Unable to speak, Atlas grabbed Fen's wrist and moved his hand down just enough that he'd be able to feel the way Atlas' lips were bulging and the baby's head peaking out through them.
Atlas felt Fen's whole body tense for a moment, words faltering as he tried to soothe everyone who was trying to call an ambulance.
Then, he regained composure and with two fingers spread Atlas' lips just a little further so he could press his hand against the baby's head. With that position, Fen incidentally had the ball of his hand pressed firmly against Atlas' sensitive clit which sent entirely conflicting sensations through their body again.
As the next contraction came, Atlas found themselves unintentionally grinding against Fen's hand as they moved their hips in little circles like they had been this whole time.
And it felt so fucking good but also way too intense at the same time and Atlas couldn't hold back their moans, grunts, and whines anymore.
When that contraction peaked, Atlas gave a series of little pushes each accompanied with a small grunt.
It wasn't doing anything, though, and Atlas soon realized that Fen was keeping the baby from progressing more with firm but gentle pressure against its head.
"Hey, they're transferring us to a different bus, sweet-tart, it just got here," Fen's voice right in Atlas' ear was the only thing Atlas could hear outside of their own harsh breathing and pounding heartbeat. "The aisle is too narrow for me to pick you up but as soon as we're off the bus I'll be able to carry you, okay?"
Fuck.
There wasn't any other choice, though, so after Fen removed his hand from Atlas' leggings, Atlas slowly adjusted so they could stand.
Fen supported them the whole time but with every step Atlas could feel their labia bulging and spreading more and more. Not to mention the way their hole was starting to burn with the stretch as the baby began to crown.
The step down from the bus was the worst and the baby was nearly at a full crown by the time Fen was picking them up to carry them over to the other bus.
Thank fuck the other bus was a little bigger so Atlas didn't have to walk to a seat. Especially since a contraction started just as Fen was stepping up into the bus.
All Atlas could do was bury their face against Fen's shoulders and sob as that burning sensation just continued to get worse, their body pushing even though they were actively trying not to.
"Fen!" Atlas squealed as the rest of the baby's head popped out all at once, making their leggings bulge obscenely. "I-It's - Oh God - th-the head is - it's out," they stammered, clinging to Fen even as their husband gently laid them on the row of seats in the back of the bus.
"Okay, okay - Babe, just, I need you to let go of me so I can - uh - look and help," Fen said in a mumbled rush, standing once Atlas let go before kneeling between Atlas' feet. "We need to get these pants off, okay?" he asked, already reaching for the waistband of the leggings.
"Wait - waitwaitwait," Atlas gasped, keening as their abdomen cramped and tightened again. They could feel the baby turning and a shoulder trying to come out but their leggings didn't let that happen.
At least until Fen managed to pull the legging down - ignoring Atlas' pleas because they needed to come off - and several things happened all at once.
The first shoulder slid out, closely followed by the second one and, before Fen even had Atlas' leggings to their knees, the baby was born with a large gush of fluid.

Fic analysis 46. All fear gives way
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/53477371/chapters/135356983
Word count: 44,433
Chapters: 14
First posted: 2nd February 2024
Last chapter up: 15th February 2024
Summary:
The note had been short, blunt, and accompanied by a lock of Dora’s dark hair. It demanded Cliopher’s presence, alone, under a certain tree in the Palace gardens, before the first hour of the morning. He was to bring his seals of office.
There had been some argument, of course. Cliopher had overruled it.
In which Cliopher is surprised to find that his Radiancy has less respect for the protocols than for his Lord Chancellor's safety - or his own - and must travel through his lord's memories to rescue him from the ensuing curse.
How and why this came about
All fear gives way started because a friend was going through a tough time and I offered to write her something fluffy.
Fluffy has always been difficult for me. Funny I can manage, yes, but fluffy? I can do fluffy bits as part of longer stories (there’s lots of fluff in the later half of Tenebra) or as the comfort end of a hurt/comfort arc, but it just doesn’t come naturally to write fluff without, well, drama or politics or Bad Things happening too.
I thought it would be nice and fluffy to write a story that included Dora, where moving to intercept Dora was the reason Kip brushed up against his Radiancy and initiated a ‘Touch scenario’ (mind-melding accompanied with gold smudgies). The initial working title of this fic was aDORAble.
It was not, and is not, fluffy.
My friend noted that it sometimes does help to have an incident or moment of drama to get the plot going. I thought - ah, well, if Dora is kidnapped, and Kip goes after her, and HR rescues them both…
The part with the curse that locks Kip and his Radiancy together into a journey through his Radiancy’s memories was unanticipated.
What worked and what didn’t
I entirely failed to write fluff that stood by itself but did, I think, achieve fluff by the end of the hurt/comfort arc.
Having got Kip and his Radiancy locked together in an inner world I really had no plan on how to resolve it. SuninGlory kindly noodled with me at some length. The solution had to come out of the characters themselves and the things they would naturally do - or would find difficult, but manage eventually.
This also became an opportunity to work up an idea that I’d had sitting around in an open gdoc for ages - the embodiment of many of his Radiancy’s separate identities, from different parts of his life, and how Kip would react. It was satisfying finally having a place to bring that together.
Overall I think it worked well and hung together and felt intentional after the fact. It ended up being a heavier-weight fic, and longer, than planned. But in a good way.
Writing summaries by excerpting sections of text didn’t quite work here, as the summary suggested it was purely a kidnapping story and the soul journey element was hidden. When a commenter pointed this out I updated the text to give more of an indication of what’s going on. I still don’t feel like I’ve cracked summaries, really, most of the ones I’ve written recently make me wince. Something to work on.
What I learned from writing it
However fluffy the premise sounds distrust it? Or possibly, don’t try to add the scare at the start. I came away from writing this fic feeling as though fluff and I needed a rematch.
This might have been the first time I really noticed how much it was possible to bring together mid-flight in a story. Letting things evolve to a certain point and then asking, ‘right, how do I get this to a good ending?’ actually led to an amazingly coherent plot, which was possible because I was writing as best as I could into the characters, and then found the resolution in my read of them too. So little things I’d added earlier worked as set-up even if I hadn’t planned it that way.
I started this fic as a livefic on the HOTE Support Group discord server and was part way through when I quit the server. I kept going as livefic directly to SuninGlory, mostly, who was very patient with me dropping big chunks of story on her.
By this stage my style of liveficcing had fully morphed from dropping a paragraph or thought per comment into just writing the fic up in the comment boxes - somehow that felt (and still feels) somewhat easier than writing in a gdoc or scrivener or whatever. I think the small size of the box and the feeling of an audience helps relieve some of the pressure of a blank page and also to make it feel like I can stop frequently - there are lots of break points between individual comments - which makes it possible to write on my phone in small snatches of time.

You are offered a new reporting job soon after the fall of SHIELD.
Tumblr media
After leaving the hospital you found yourself at a hotel by the end of the taxi ride. You checked into a room for the night and ran a hot bath and played your piano music playlist to relax. While soaking in the warm water, the physical pain from the week began to subside, but the emotional pain finally reared its ugly head as a barrage of terrible memories bombarded your mind.
You tried to close your eyes, listen to the music, and just be, but your mind had other ideas. Behind your closed eyes were flashes of the week's events. The guns pointed and shot at you and Fury, the feeling of the knife being held to your throat, the masked man in your kitchen, the sirens blaring, having to witness Steve get shot, and watching the helicarriers going down with Steve inside.
The thoughts raced through your head, unrelenting, and you finally broke. Hot tears streamed down your cheeks, but this time you didn't try to stop them. You let yourself cry freely and let out your emotions, not holding back anymore. A few minutes passed and you felt a weight lift slightly off your shoulders in a moment of catharsis.
As you wrapped yourself into a towel after the bath, your phone began to ring. Hoping it was Sam or even Steve, you quickly picked up the call with a, "Hello?"
"Hi," a female voice greeted from the other end before asking if she reached the correct person.
"Of course it's her, Pep, I know how to find people's contacts," a male voice chimed in from far away in the room. Tony Stark.
"This is her, yes," you replied, your curiosity peaking at what they could be calling about.
"Great. So yes, this is Pepper Potts, if you remember me from back in the day."
"Of course I do, it's good to hear from you. How have you been?"
"I've been good, thank you. Now, I know everything is still fresh and you may still need time, but-" Pepper tried to start off gently.
Suddenly, Stark's voice came onto the call saying, "What she's trying to ask is if you want to have a job at Stark Industries since your former job at SHIELD is no longer viable. We could use a kickass reporter like yourself on our team."
"Tony!" Pepper scolded before saying, "He is right though, we were hoping that you would be interested in a reporting position with Stark Industries. You would be handling everyday reports to the public, press conferences, newsletters, and some aspects of the website."
"And anything Avengers related if it comes up," he added. "I know you and Spangles get on well."
"Tony!" Pepper scolded again with a slight laugh in her tone.
"Point is, you're good. We could use you on the team. Whatever tech you had at SHIELD I'll match it. Actually, I'll make it better. So what do you say?" Stark asked.
Your jaw dropped in response to the generous offer and you were rendered speechless for a second. "Wow, I- Thank you two so much. I would love to take you up on that offer. You have no clue how much this means to me."
"Great!" Pepper cheered quietly. "We can have an interview in New York tomorrow? I know it's soon, but we want to get you settled into the position as quickly as possible."
"Tomorrow is perfect. What time?"
"Well we are having another agent from SHIELD interview with us at 2 pm, so would around 3 pm work for you? We know you're in DC right now, so Tony will send one of the jets there to get you two here on time."
"That works perfectly," you replied with a smile. "Again thank you. A fast turnaround and change of pace are just what I need. I really do appreciate it."
"It's no problem at all," Pepper replied. "We'll see you tomorrow."
"See you then." As you ended the call, you did a little happy dance around the hotel room. Your reporting career didn't have to go down with SHIELD after all!
A few seconds later your phone rang again, this time having Maria on the other end of the line. You picked up, and were greeted with Maria simply saying your name.
"Hey, Maria," you said, the high of the conversation you just had making you ignore your emotions from earlier.
"So I got an interesting phone call a few minutes ago."
"Interesting as in good or interesting as in HYDRA is still trying to kill us all?" you asked, the joke flying out of your mouth without hesitation due to the high of emotions you were on.
"The first one," Maria replied with a quiet laugh. "Stark and Potts called me asking if I wanted a job at Stark Industries. They said they want to spearhead the cause of taking down all HYDRA cells that are left."
"How fun is that, because I got the same call asking if I wanted to be a Stark Industries journalist," you told her with a smile.
"That's great! They have my interview for tomorrow at two and Stark is sending a jet to get us. On the way back down after the interviews we can carpool together? Make that girls' day we talked about earlier?"
"I'd like that after this hellish week."
"Great," Maria replied before pausing for a second, debating on whether to bring up the day's events or not. She decided not to though, instead, telling you, "Well, I know it's been eventful the past few days, but try and get some rest before tomorrow. It's a big day."
"Thanks, Maria. I'll see you tomorrow."
The two of you ended the phone call and you headed off to bed to try and rest, but your body refused for most of the night. Even though her night ended with great news, your mind was still flooded with the events of the last week causing your head and body to ache. After tossing and turning for a few hours, you finally managed to get a couple of hours of rest sporadically before having to get ready for the next day ahead of you.
Tumblr media
You woke up in the morning around 8 and redressed into the clothes you had worn the previous day. You looked at the tattered and torn business outfit and mumbled to yourself, "Well this won't do..." After packing up your sparce belongings, you headed out and found an oversized Washington DC sweatshirt for sale. You purchased the sweatshirt and changed into it before hailing a cab to your apartment building.
Once at the building, you looked at your apartment window and blew out some air from your lungs before heading in. Once inside, you rode the elevator up and then slowly approached your apartment, dreading going inside. "You can do this," you whispered to yourself. "In and out, real quick, no big deal."
You unlocked the door and kept your head down as you made your way past the kitchen area to your bedroom. As you packed, you shoved one earbud into your ear and started playing some piano music to keep yourself grounded and distracted. You grabbed a garment bag and put a nice blazer, pants, and pressed shirt inside as well as a nice pair of flats in the pocket - all for your upcoming interview. For good measure, you packed some comfy clothes into a bag for the night. Maybe if you packed to stay because you'd be busy filling out paperwork, you would get the job. You then took off the pants you were wearing and slipped on some leggings to be comfortable for the plane ride.
Throwing your go-bag over your shoulder and carefully folding the garment bag over your arm, you made your way out of the apartment, grabbing your car keys on the way out. Once you got settled into the car, you let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding. Shaking out your hands, you whispered, "You did it. Good job."
Once you calmed down your racing heart, you pulled out your phone again and dialed Sam. "Hey," Sam said groggily as he picked up.
"Hey, I'm sorry if I woke you up," you apologized. "I just got my car from my apartment building and need to swing by your place for some things that I have there. Do you need anything?"
"If you could get some fresh clothes for me and Steve that would be great, thanks."
You nodded and smiled, asking, "So, is Steve awake?"
"Oh, no not yet. Sorry, I didn't phrase that the best," Sam told you quickly. "For when he does wake up and all."
"Oh," you said, deflating in your seat. You quickly regained your composure and added, "But yeah, I'll get that and come up to the hospital. Do you want any coffee or something?"
"Oh you're the best. Anything caffeinated, please."
"I'm on it."
So you drove over to Sam's, avoiding the highway on the way there. You didn't want to deal with the possibility of passing the place everyone was attacked. Once inside the house, you grabbed some clothes from Sam's closet for the guys and then your makeup from the bathroom. After gathering up all of your other possessions, you locked up and made your way to the hospital, stopping for coffee on the way there.
After making a quick detour at the gift shop to get Steve a balloon, you approached the room he and Sam were in, and the guard on duty promptly stopped you from going any further. "I can't allow you in there. Security purposes," he told you sternly.
You instantly felt hot tears pricking the backs of your eyes and let out a quiet sigh before telling him, "I'm just here to see Steve and give Sam some coffee. I won't be long."
"Well, how do I know you aren't a HYDRA agent here to finish the job?"
You closed your eyes and tried to hold back the tears threatening to spill over. When you felt that they were sufficiently at bay, you told him, "Listen, can't you see that I am covered in bruises from running from HYDRA this week? I haven't been able to sleep due to nightmares about said experiences with HYDRA and I just want to see my friend! And, you know, to top it off, I haven't had any caffeine this morning, so I am not in the mood to deal with this right now. What kind of identification or whatever can I show you to prove to you that I am just here to visit Captain Rogers?"
"I don't think any form of identification is gonna be necessary, isn't that right?" Sam asked, emerging from the room, having heard the commotion.
"Mr. Wilson, Falcon, I just-" the guard stuttered out.
Sam put his hand up, saying, "It's okay, but she's here on official business for me and Captain Rogers. Thank you for looking out for us though."
The guard nodded and let you pass into the room with Sam. On your way in, you placed the balloon on the table beside Steve before gently brushing your fingers across his shoulder. Tearing your eyes away from his resting form, you handed Sam his drink. Settling into a chair, you told him quietly, "Thanks for coming to my rescue out there, Sam."
"Nothing is gonna come between me and my morning coffee," Sam joked while taking a sip. You sipped her frappuccino out of the cup's straw and Sam commented, "I see you went fancy this morning."
You scoffed and defended yourself, "You know what, I deserved this, Wilson. I went back to my apartment to get some stuff and I only mildly panicked."
You said the last part jokingly, but Sam looked at you with concern in his eyes, asking, "And you're 100 percent you're okay after that? I know it could be a trigger for bad memories going back there. If you want I can help you find a different place so you don't have to deal with those thoughts. I could get you into a PTS support group and-"
"Sam," you interrupted gently, telling him, "I don't want to jinx it, but I should be moving out soon anyway. I got a job offer back in New York with Stark Industries. I...actually have an interview today at three."
Sam smiled, saying, "Well I'm glad you get to get back to a job soon. That's really good."
"It is. As long as I keep busy, I can usually keep my anxiety at bay. So, as long as I can just keep going, I'll be fine."
"Just don't overwork yourself, okay?"
You rolled your eyes and dragged out like a teenager, "Okaaaaayy."
Sam laughed and then looked at the time and said, "If you have an interview at three what on earth are you doing here still?"
"I just wanted to check on the two of you. Make sure everything was okay," you replied.
"Oh and you're sure it wasn't just Steve you wanted to check in on?" Sam teased with a smirk lining his lips.
You felt your face flush bright red, but hid it by looking down at your phone to see the time. As you looked, you noticed a new text and said, "Wow, would you look at that, Stark said the jet is at the airport refueling right now, I should really get going." Thankful for the out, you got up from her chair and added, "Tell me if his condition improves okay?"
Sam chuckled and called out as you left the room, "Will do. Thank you again! Good luck today!"
"Thanks, Sam," you said back as you passed the guard on the way out, giving him a wave and a small smile.
Tumblr media
After leaving the hospital, you made your way to the airport where you met Maria at the private jet. You blew out a low whistle upon seeing the craft and commented, "Stark really has us set up, doesn't he?"
Maria nodded as you both make your way onto the plane. Once aboard, the two of you settled into chairs across from each other and Maria asked, "So, are you excited about this job opportunity?"
As she asked this, a plane attendant gave you both an array of breakfast food and drink to choose from for the flight. After scanning the assortment, you nodded in response while taking a small bite of food. Once you were done with the bite, you replied, "It'll be a change of pace, I feel like, but who says change isn't a good thing?"
"Cheers to that," Maria said, holding up her glass of orange juice.
"What about you?"
"I'm looking forward to it. If I'm right about what Stark was implying, it'll be like I never left SHIELD, but this time there hopefully won't be a Nazi organization under my nose..." Maria said with a quiet sigh. The fact that HYDRA was able to grow so much under her nose really had Maria beating herself up since they figured it out... She was supposed to help protect those she served, not only in the organization, but the world at large. And she felt like she failed at that.
Nodding your head solemnly, you said, "I just wish we would have been able to save SHIELD."
"Me too, it meant a lot to us all. We did what we had to do though." Maria paused and said quietly, "I really hope you aren't mad at me for what I had to do with the helicarriers. I had no choice but to follow Cap's orders."
You turned your head to look out the window at the passing clouds, thinking about your next words carefully. After a long minute, you responded, "I know you were, and I'm sorry I acted the way I did. I'm also sorry if it hurt you. I just didn't want to lose him along with SHIELD. Hell, I'm scared that I'm gonna lose him anyways when all of this is over because I won't be an agent assigned to help him out anymore. I'll just be me."
"You won't lose him, you won't lose any of us," Maria assured you. "Just because SHIELD isn't around anymore doesn't mean we'll lose our connections to everyone we met because of the job. The bonds we've all formed together are here to stay, okay?"
You smiled a bit and nodded, saying, "Okay."
"Besides, I'm willing to bet once all the dust clears and Stark gets his task force together to search for whatever is left of HYDRA, we'll be seeing a lot more of the Avengers."
"Man, won't that be fun to report on again?"
"I think you and I have different definitions of fun," Maria said with a laugh. "The battle in New York was a pain in the ass on my end of things."
"Fair enough. I think I just really enjoyed being a part of something big. Getting all of that on film and getting to show people all the awesome stuff the Avengers are capable of was a thrill." You paused for a second before saying, "Although, after this week, I think I'll be okay with some desk work and company-wide reporting for a bit. Not too much of a fan of being held at knife-point or being cornered by aliens."
Maria shook her head, telling you, "I'm really sorry you had to go through all of that. If you don't mind, do you want to tell me what all happened? If you aren't comfortable with it, that is totally fine, but..."
"Maybe after the day is over? I don't want to get myself worked up over all of this again before the interview."
"I understand," Maria replied. The two of you spent the rest of the plane ride talking and joking around to ease the nerves about the upcoming events of the day before getting ready as the plane landed.
Tumblr media
After your interview, you emerged from the room that you had spoken with Stark and Pepper in. "So?" Maria asked with her eyebrows raised as you approached. You faked a sad shrug and Maria stood up and hugged you, saying, "Man, I'm really sorry, if-"
With a little bit of guilt creeping up your spine, you finally relented, telling Maria, "I'm kidding, I'm kidding, I got the job!" Maria pulled away from the hug and scoffed before scolding you and gently punching your shoulder.
A fiery spark of pain blazed through you, and you instantly recoiled at the touch, cradling the area where that bullet had grazed your arm a few days before. "How about we don't hit that arm?" you asked through your teeth with a slight laugh to tell Maria you were still partially joking.
Once the banter was over, the two of you made your way to the HR desk to pick up the new hire paperwork to fill out before you both left for the day. As you both sat down in an empty conference room to fill the papers out, your phone started to ring. You picked up the device and saw that it was Sam calling. "Hey Sam, is everything all right?" you asked as you picked up.
"Actually, it's Steve," came the voice of Steve from the other end of the line.
Relief flooded your whole body, and you felt even more muscles in your tense body relax as you breathed a sigh of relief. He was okay. "Hey, Steve. You really scared me out there," you told him, the attempt to keep the emotions out of your voice failing miserably.
"So I've been told," Steve replied with a chuckle.
A blush creeped onto your cheeks, wondering what Sam had told him. Trying to hide the bashful smile in your voice, you asked, "Do you blame me?"
"Not at all. I'm really glad you were there for me." Steve paused for a second before saying, "Nat called telling us about a meeting with Fury before he heads off. Are you going to be there?"
"Actually, I'm kind of in New York right now," you replied with a quiet laugh. "In the aftermath of everything, Stark and Pepper offered me a job back up here."
"Well I'm happy for you," Steve told you. "It'll be good for you to keep working through all of this with SHIELD gone and all."
"Mhm..." There was a beat of silence in which you sighed thoughtfully. "I'll miss being an agent though," you admitted. Although you would definitely miss being a SHIELD agent and doing your journalistic work there, what you really meant, though, was I'll miss being an agent with you, Steve.
"I know you will, but this change of pace will be good for you. After everything you've been through you need something a bit calmer."
Suddenly, Sam's voice came onto the call, excitedly asking, "Did you get the job?"
"I did in fact get the job," thank you for asking!" you told him. "Stark is setting up the move back up here within the week, actually. They said they want me up and working as soon as possible."
"Well how about this, when you and Maria get back down to DC we all celebrate? To a successful mission and to new beginnings."
"I'd celebrate that," you replied. Flipping through the pile of papers in front of you, you sighed deeply before telling them, "Well, I've got to get going. I've got tons of paperwork to fill out. You two be safe and careful when meeting with Fury, okay?"
"Yes ma'am," Sam replied with a chuckle.
You rolled your eyes before talking directly to Steve this time, telling him, "It was good to hear your voice, Rogers."
"Right back at you."
You couldn't help the smile on your lips as they end the call, more of your worries melting away as you got started once again on your paperwork to catch up with Maria. After a few minutes of the sounds of pens scratching at the paper, Maria asked casually, "So what are your plans now that you aren't an agent anymore?"
"What do you mean?" you asked. Trying to lighten the mood, you joked, "You sure you didn't hit your head or anything during that mission? You do know we're filling out paperwork to be Stark Industries employees right? That is my plan."
"You know what I mean," Maria replied with a smirk, alluding to their conversation about having feelings for another agent.
You shook your head, finally realizing what she was referring to. "I have no clue what you're talking about," you lied.
"You know, you're a good actor but a terrible liar," Maria countered with a laugh.
You forced a half-hearted smile onto your lips while keeping your eyes on your papers, telling Maria, "We'll see what happens." Having the freedom and opportunity to confess your feelings seemed like a miracle, but the thought of actually doing it and possibly getting an answer you didn't like terrified you.
Tumblr media
A few days later, you were playing music in your DC apartment as you packed up boxes for the move back up to New York City. Over the last few days, you still hasn't been able to sleep that well, and you were self-admittedly completely exhausted because of it.
You were humming the latest song's lyrics to yourself as you began to pack up your movies into a box when suddenly there was a knock at the door, making you jump. You clutched at your chest in a vain attempt to stop your rapidly racing heart as you crept toward the door and peeked out of the peephole to see who had knocked.
You let out a breath when you realized that the knock came from Sam and Steve. "I hope you two know how much you scared me," you deadpanned as you opened the door for them. You looked down at your outfit of an oversized t-shirt and sweatpants and cringed a bit, saying, "I didn't know you two were coming. Sorry, I look like a complete mess."
Steve smiled and told you, "We just thought you could use some help with the move, take some stress off your load."
"What can we help with?" Sam asked as you let them in.
"I'm gonna go put on some makeup and different clothes and I'll be back and we can discuss then." Waving a hand toward the kitchen but not looking in its direction you told them, "Feel free to have anything in the fridge or cabinets, I can't take any of it with me."
When you reemerged a few minutes later, Sam and Steve readied themselves to help out. "Have you been doing okay?" Sam asked quietly as he helped you finish up packing the movies.
You shrugged, replying, "I'm doing the best I can given the situation."
Sam nodded and asked, "Have you been sleeping?"
You laughed half-heartedly before countering, "Is it that obvious I haven't been?"
He glanced over at you, seeing how exhausted you were and nodded. "Is there anything I can do to help? When I was younger my mom had this tea she would make that helped me and my sister sleep, maybe I could scrounge up the ingredients for that?"
You smiled at the offer, but said, "As much as I would appreciate that, what I really need is to get out of this place as soon as possible." You stood after you placed the last DVD in the box and sealed it, moving on to the next task as quickly as possible.
"So what's next?" Sam asked, standing up as well.
You once more glanced over at the kitchen area that had gone untouched thus far and looked away quickly. "Could you two maybe get the kitchen supplies packed up?"
"Of course," Sam replied and patted you gently on the back.
Soon enough, Sam and Steve started packing pots and pans into boxes, making sure to wrap the nicer looking ones for safe travel. "How do you think she's holding up?" Steve asked Sam quietly as he placed a wrapped set of bowls into a box.
Sam sighed and replied, "I don't know, man. She's super on edge about being back here after what happened. She says she's dealing with it, but...I don't think she should be in this apartment at all after we finish packing." He paused and saw Steve glance at you worriedly. "She just needs somewhere to go so she can get rested before making the trip up to New York."
Steve nodded, saying, "I'm sure we could find her a nice hotel to relax in before she heads off."
Sam chuckled and told Steve, "That's not what I meant." Steve sent him a quizzical look, so he elaborated with, "Dude, offer her your place. She's relaxed around you. You make her feel safe. If we put her up in a hotel, it'll just be the same outcome of no sleep because she'll just be worried about what could happen if she lets her guard down."
Steve contemplated the idea, and finally nodded after a few seconds of thought. With his mind made up, he made his way to where you were packing up your room. When he got there, he knocked on the doorframe gently which caused you to jump as the sound startled you. As you turned around to see the source of the noise, Steve put his hands up and said quietly, "It's just me, you're okay."
Taking in the sight of him, you relaxed and lets out a breath. "Hey," you said as you returned to packing up your vinyl records.
"I can tell you're exhausted, and you'll need some rest before the move. So, if you want, you can stay at my place until you head off. That way you can rest, and if anything were to happen I'd be right there for you," Steve offered quietly, feeling his heart rate increase the slightest bit as he did.
With your back turned to him, you were able to hide the red that tinted your cheeks in response to the offer. "If it isn't a bother, I would like that. Thank you, Steve."
"It's no bother at all, I'm just worried about you," he said. He paused for a second before adding, "If you want to talk, I'm here for you anytime."
"And the same goes right back to you," you said turning to him with a soft smile on your lips. "Again, thank you. How can I repay you?"
Steve thought for a second when you asked this. He knew that baking relaxed you, so he offered, "How about tonight we order takeout and you bake some of your famous cookies?"
"Can we watch a movie too?" you asked, a hopeful uptick in your voice.
"Of course, I'm sure you still have plenty you have yet to show me."
"I don't think there's enough time in the world to show you all of the great movies you missed, Rogers."
"Well, who's to say we can't try?" Steve asked with a smile while leaning against the doorframe casually.
"I think I'm up for that challenge," you told him. You drank in the image of Steve leaning against the doorframe and couldn't help but think of how attractive it was. You knew you probably stared for too long though, so you tried to diffuse the tension by looking at the clock on the wall and saying, "Wow, the movers Stark hired will be here soon and I'm not even close to done..."
"Hey, no worries, that's what Sam and I are here for. I'm gonna get back to packing up the kitchen, I just needed to check in with you. Let us know what else we can help with as we go, okay?"
"Okay. Again, thank you, Steve. Your help means the world."
"Anytime."
After a few hours, the three of you finally had everything packed up. You kept a bag of clothes and some things you wanted to transport yourself and took them to your car while Sam and Steve assisted the movers with the last of the boxes and furniture. When you got back up, you looked at the bare apartment one last time before locking the door behind you, a finality to closing that door for the last time. "How's it feel leaving?" Sam asked.
"It feels good. The truth is I'm used to always being on the go, I never stayed in one place too long when I was a kid," you replied. "I'm just glad I don't have to be in that space anymore."
"A clean slate is just what you need," Sam said. He yawned and added, "Now, I don't know about the two of you, but I'm exhausted after today. I'm gonna go home and hit the hay. You two have a good night."
"You too, Sam. Thank you for helping out," you told him with a smile and wave. Sam waved back as he walked off and left you and Steve alone.
"So, I have my movie box and some baking supplies leftover, all that is left is to get food. What should we get?" you asked once Sam was out of earshot.
Steve pondered the question for a second before saying, "How about we decide on the way? Sam was kinda my ride, so I'll need a lift back to my place with you."
You couldn't help the quiet laugh that escaped your lips as you told him, "Of course."
Tumblr media
An hour later, you and Steve settled onto the couch in Steve's living room with slices of pizza on plates and cookies baking in the oven. You popped in the movie Tangled and pressed play for the previews. "I bet back in the 40s, you never would have dreamed of anything like this happening to you, huh?" you asked as the previews rolled.
"Oh, never in a million years," Steve said, "but I am glad it did. I've had an amazing guide through it all."
You smiled at his kind words and glanced at him, seeing the whimsy in his eyes as he watched the screen. "Would you go back given the opportunity? Change any of it?"
"Wow, asking the deep questions tonight," Steve said with a chuckle as he sat his plate on the table beside him. "You know, if you asked me that a few months or a year ago I would have said yes immediately. After this week though, I think if I could change one thing about the past, I would make sure they never experimented on Buck and that he was never on that train with me. A lot of this week's incidents wouldn't have happened if they never got their hands on him."
You slightly tensed up at the mention of Bucky, but relaxed as Steve placed his warm hand on your knee to provide a soothing touch. Even though your anxiety was over the Winter Soldier, you knew that wasn't who Bucky truly was. With that in mind, you took a breath and told Steve, "It's sweet how much you care for him. I'm sure everything will work out in the end."
Before either could say anything further, the timer on the oven went off and you stood up to go get the cookies out. As you placed the cookies onto a cooling rack, you relaxed a bit and danced to the music playing from the movie menu on the TV. Steve looked back into the kitchen and saw this and smiles to himself. He always loved how excited you got when you baked, and was happy that it was helping you relax tonight.
A few moments later, you came back into the living room and sat on the couch, saying, "The cookies are gonna cool for a bit, but for now prepare to be amazed by one of my favorite movies in the history of Disney."
"I thought you said that about the last Disney movie we watched," Steve teased.
"Every movie they make is a masterpiece in its own way!" you retorted while pressing play. "But, also, thank you for putting up with my Disney obsession. These movies relax me."
"And that is exactly what tonight is for," Steve said. "Tonight you just need to take it easy, relax, and know I'm here if something goes wrong."
"Thank you," you said with a warm smile in Steve's direction.
A little while into the movie, you got the cookies from the kitchen for the two of you to snack on. You curled up in your blanket after you finished your cookies and yawned, your body actually ready to sleep for the first time in a week because you finally felt safe. Despite your best efforts to stay awake for the duration of the movie, your eyes fluttered closed during the famous lantern scene. Due to your proximity on the small couch, your head ended up resting on Steve's shoulder as you slept. Steve turned his head to look at you, who seemed peaceful for the first time in a while and smiled, happy that you felt safe and relaxed around him.
As the song in the movie played on and he listened to the words, Steve thought back to the talk he had with Peggy that week, but also about the last few months. For some time, Steve had been fighting a battle inside his head over his feelings. He still missed Peggy some days, but on others, there had been a tiny voice in the back of his head telling him to open his eyes and see the woman right in front of him. To see how you made him feel welcome in this world, and how you cared for him. During this time, Steve hadn't even realized that he had begun to have feelings for you...  He looked back at you and gently puts his arm around you, holding you close and gently rubbing your arm as the song wound to a close. In that moment, he knew it was finally time to stop looking back to the past and focus on the present.
Steve ended up falling asleep with you on the couch, not wanting to disturb your peaceful state. He woke up before you the next morning and got up from the couch, careful not to wake you. After he got up, Steve checked his phone on the kitchen counter and saw a couple of missed calls from Sam. He quickly dialed him in case there was something wrong. "Is everything okay?" Steve asked Sam once he answered the phone.
"What? Yeah, why wouldn-" he started. Sam paused for a moment as he remembered the missed calls, and said with a smirk, "Oh right, the missed calls. Don't you worry about that, Cap. I'm sure you were preoccupied. What did you two end up doing last night?"
Steve could hear the smirk on Sam's voice and he was thankful he couldn't see the pink tinting his cheeks as he chuckled, telling him, "We just watched a movie and relaxed. She finally got some sleep last night." And it's gonna kill me when she's off on her own in New York again... Steve thought to himself.
"Uh-huh, I bet," Sam said with a teasing laugh. "Remember, if you need your wingman, Falcon is just a call away."
Steve chuckled and shook his head, quickly changing the subject as he was unsure of how to navigate the developing situation. "So are you still on board with helping me look for Buck?"
"Absolutely, man. Anything to help, just tell me where you need me and what I need to do and I'm on it," Sam replied, getting the sense that Steve didn't want to discuss the night before anymore.
"Great, thanks, Sam. It'll be good to have another set of hands and eyes on this. I want to get a bit of a start while we can still maybe get some leads on where he went."
The two continued their conversation for a few more minutes before Sam told Steve he had to get going. "If I'm gonna be working with Captain America, I'll have to work on my training. I'll talk to you later, man," Sam said.
"Talk to you later," Steve replied with a laugh before hanging up. He wandered into the living room and saw you still sleeping on the couch, not moving a muscle. After taking in the scene, he picked up his phone again and ordered some breakfast to be delivered to the apartment while starting a pot of coffee.
Steve powered on his laptop and began his search for a lead on Bucky while the smell of coffee filled the apartment. The strong aroma awakened you from your deep slumber and you wrapped yourself in your blanket while ambling into the kitchen. You saw Steve at his laptop and mumbled, "Good morning," with a sleepy smile lining your lips
Steve looked up from his laptop and shuts it before saying, "Good morning. Sleep well?"
You smiled and nodded, telling him, "The best I have in a while. Again, thank you for letting me stay here. Knowing you were nearby really helped me get to sleep."
Nearby is an overestimate Steve thought to himself with an inward smile. He hadn't really thought too much about his growing feelings for you before, but after last night, he couldn't ignore that there was a spark of something there for you. "I'm glad you got some sleep. Do you feel any better?"
"Absolutely," you replied. You laughed as you continued, "and I'll feel even better after that coffee."
"Have at it," Steve said while gesturing to the coffee maker.
"You're the best," you told him while making yourself a cup. Once you sat the table with the mug, there was a knock at the door, making you jump and spill a bit of the coffee onto your lap. You cursed under your breath while reaching for a couple of napkins to soak up the liquid.
"Hey, it's okay, I just ordered food," Steve informed you while walking toward the door to get the meal, only after offering you an ice pack from the freezer.
Steve brought the food to the dining table and the pair of you begin eating. "Sorry I've been so jumpy lately," you spoke up after a few minutes of comfortable silence.
"It's okay, I understand. It'll take time," he reassured you.
You nodded and quickly changed the subject, not wanting to think about it anymore. "So, what's your plan now that SHIELD is gone?"
At the inquiry, Steve debated telling you about his and Sam's search for Bucky. He decided not to though, instead telling you, "Actually, Stark gave me a call yesterday before we came to help you pack. Same with Natasha. He said he wants our help taking down HYDRA cells, so I'll head up to New York again soon."
A spark of you filled you when he told you the news, so you smiled and said, "Hey, that's great! I know you and Stark butt heads, but it'll be good to have the team together again, right?"
"Right," Steve replied. He picked up his little notebook off the table and added, "Maybe in between missions and your work, we can get to this list of mine."
"Let's see what you have in there," you said, scooting your chair towards him. You looked at the list and your jaw dropped as you asked, "How on Earth have I not shown you Star Wars?"
Steve laughed and shrugged, saying, "We've had a lot of ground to cover."
"But...but Star Wars," you said exasperatedly. "Too bad we don't have time to watch them before I have to get going..."
"How many are there?"
"Six. And another trilogy starting next year." Before you could stop yourself, you started rambling a bit, telling him, "But that's just the movies. If you really want to get into it, we can also watch the animated shows like The Clone Wars and Rebels. A lot of people don't watch them and say they aren't canon, but they totally are!"
Steve's eyebrows shot up and he sook his head in shock, saying, "Yeah I don't think we'll have time for those today. How about first thing when I get up to New York?"
"Deal," you replied, the promise having you looking forward to the time you will get with him in the near future.

NEW YORK (AP) — The founder of a nonprofit group has been accused of fabricating a story about homeless military veterans being evicted from a New York hotel to make room for migrants, a tale that stoked days of outrage on cable news networks.
One Republican lawmaker in New York who helped spread the story is now calling for an investigation, saying he and others were duped.
The uproar began after New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, bused a small group of asylum seekers to a suburban hotel as the city’s homeless shelter system struggled to accommodate an influx of migrants from the U.S. border with Mexico.
The group’s transfer prompted a political backlash from Republican county officials, who accused the mayor of trying to offload his problems on unprepared communities.
Then, the founder of a small charity in the area added an explosive claim: To make way for the migrants, a hotel in Newburgh, New York, evicted nearly two dozen homeless veterans.
That story, told by Yerik Israel Toney Foundation chief executive Sharon Toney-Finch, was picked up May 12 by The New York Post and quickly followed by Fox News, Newsmax and other conservative news outlets. The Post on Friday published a follow-up story reporting on the latest development.
“Our veterans have been placed in another hotel due to what’s going on with the immigrants,” Toney-Finch told the Post in its initial story, saying her group had made arrangements to find alternative lodging. “We didn’t waste any time.”
State Assemblyman Brian Maher, a Republican, introduced legislation that would prohibit the displacement of homeless veterans. In an appearance on Fox News, he called the purported evictions an “absolute embarrassment on all fronts.”
Cracks in the story emerged after an investigation by a local newspaper, the Mid Hudson News.
The managers of the hotel told the paper the story wasn’t true. A receipt purporting to show that the Crossroads Hotel had been paid $37,800 to house the veterans appeared to have been sloppily doctored.
In a follow-up report Friday, the Mid-Hudson News reported that several men staying at a homeless shelter in Poughkeepsie, New York, had come forward to say they were recruited to pretend they were among the veterans kicked out of the hotel. The paper quoted some of the men as saying they were offered $200, food and alcohol to take part in the ruse.
They said they met with Toney-Finch, then participated in a meeting at a veterans center in Orange County with local chamber of commerce officials.
Toney-Finch denied giving any money to the men.
In a brief interview with The Associated Press, she declined to say directly that her story was not true, but she suggested that a misunderstanding might have led to confusion.

Make Your Limassol Restaurant a Must-Visit Spot with These SEO Insights! Hey there! If you're running a restaurant in Limassol, you might be wondering how to get more locals and tourists to discover your amazing dishes. You're not alone—many restaurant owners are asking the same thing. Let's chat about some practical SEO tips that can help your restaurant shine online. Common Questions from Restaurant Owners: - How can my restaurant show up when people search for places to eat in Limassol? - What's the best way to use keywords without sounding awkward? - Do online reviews really impact my visibility? - Can I compete with larger chains in search results? 1. Embrace Local Keywords Naturally Start by sprinkling local keywords into your website content. Think about what your customers might type into Google. Phrases like "authentic Cypriot cuisine in Limassol" or "seafood restaurant near Limassol marina" are gold. Example: On your homepage, you could say, "Welcome to our family-run restaurant offering authentic Cypriot dishes right in the heart of Limassol." 2. Optimize Your Google Business Profile Listing If you haven't already, claim your Google Business Profile. Make sure your address, opening hours, and contact details are up-to-date. Add some mouth-watering photos of your dishes and cozy interior. 3. Encourage and Respond to Reviews Positive reviews not only attract more customers but also boost your search rankings. Encourage happy diners to leave a review, and always take the time to respond—even to the not-so-happy ones. 👍 SEO Tip: Place a small note on receipts or menus: "Enjoyed your meal? We'd love to hear your feedback online!" 4. Share Your Story with Engaging Content People love stories. Maybe your recipes have been passed down for generations, or perhaps you've got a unique take on a classic dish. Share these stories on a blog or social media. 👉 Personal Story: "Our moussaka recipe comes straight from Grandma's kitchen, where she'd pick fresh herbs from her garden every morning." 5. Make Your Website Mobile-Friendly A lot of folks search for restaurants on their phones, especially tourists exploring Limassol. Ensure your website looks great and loads quickly on mobile devices. Checklist: - Easy-to-read text without zooming - Simple navigation - Click-to-call buttons so visitors can ring you with one tap 6. Use High-Quality Images with Descriptive Alt Text Visuals are key in the food industry. Use high-resolution photos and don't forget to add alt text descriptions. 7. Break Down Information for Easy Reading Use bullet points, headings, and bold text to make your content easy to skim. This helps both your readers and search engines understand your content better. 8. Engage with Social Media and Local Influencers Connect with your audience on platforms like Instagram or Facebook. Share behind-the-scenes looks, daily specials, or staff favorites. 👍 Idea: Host a live cooking demo on Instagram showcasing how you make a popular dish. 9. Invite Interaction Ask questions in your content to encourage comments and shares. ⚠️ Question: "What's your favorite Cypriot dish that you'd love to see on our menu? Let us know in the comments!" 10. Keep Your Content Fresh Regularly updating your site signals to search engines that your business is active and relevant. Suggestions: - Post about upcoming events or live music nights - Share seasonal menu changes - Highlight local ingredients you're using Bonus Tip: Leverage Local Directories List your restaurant on local directories and tourism websites. This increases your online presence and can drive more traffic your way. Wrapping It Up SEO might seem tricky, but it's all about making it easier for people to find you online. By taking these steps, you're not just boosting search rankings—you're building a connection with your customers before they even walk through the door. A Little Something Extra Have you considered collaborating with local businesses? Partnering with nearby hotels or attractions for mutual promotions can widen your reach even more. It's all about community here in Limassol! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to chat more about boosting your restaurant's online presence. And hey, if you found this helpful, why not share it with a fellow restaurant owner? Read the full article
