WIP Wednesday
Welp, it feels weird posting this today, but I feel like being able to create, to make with my hands, is one of the things keeping me sane right now. So I'm sharing WIP (that's nearly complete), thanks for the tag @rebel-held and @burntheedges! It's not a written WIP though, but a ceramics WIP :P
I've been working on a line of tall and short tumblers/cups and the latest draft that came out of the reduction kiln makes me happy. Can't wait to wrap my hands around it when it's filled with something warm/hot to drink this fall/winter. It's decently sized and can probably hold ~12 fl. oz./350ml.
I might adjust the rim a little bit (slightly more flared out) on the next iteration, but it's good enough to do the little final touches and include it for sale in the market I'll be at later this month.

i really feel you on the heat exhaustion in the summer and losing weight, i have it too. in my case i cannot regulate my internal body temperature due to medical issues so i'm always a human furnace and it makes summer awful to endure. i'll end up drinking a lot of flavoured water, eating yogurts and sandwiches with varied fillings etc and never anything hot. not even coffee, it's all iced coffee until like mid-october.
that being said, from one human furnace to another, do you have any tips to stay cool, especially for someone with no ac? i tend to drink ice water and have the "damp flannel in the freezer for 15 minutes on the neck" thing as well as cold showers, but do you suggest anything else?
Oh god the summer is tough for those of us who don't have AC and have medical conditions. You have said some good stuff here, but I can provide some tips of my own
Sugary drinks. Everyone is terrified of soda in this day and age, but I find it's actually a useful tool with chronic illness - and one of the main reasons I haven't lost more weight. Drinking low calorie or 0 calorie vitamin water is good, but sometimes it's good to drink liquids with higher calorie content in them. You get hydration and you can make up for calories that you miss during meals if you have to skip meals due to heat induced nausea. Liquid is always easier to ingest past nausea. And this goes for soda, juice, and even ice cold smoothies.
Ice. Ice, ice, ice. This may seem super basic, but I have to press it home. Buy one or two silicone ice trays on Amazon and always keep them full in your freezer, or invest in an electrical ice maker (this would be something to put on your Christmas list and ask for as a gift - the one my mom got for me and my sister was $160 on sale, so you can look out for sales too) - but having ice cubes in drinks makes a huge difference. Even putting ice cubes on your skin makes a huge difference when your body doesn't regulate heat normally.
Double walled tumblers. This is paired with ice. I know the Stanley trend seems stupid, and I don't even like Stanleys - I fucking hate the concept of paying $200 for a water bottle. The ones I use are $5 or $10 from Walmart - but make sure the one you buy is double walled and marked as insulated. This is proven effective to make cold drinks last for longer. So when you are exhausted from the heat, you don't have to keep getting up to refresh your drink and put more ice cubes. And it helps your drink stay cold from start to finish, helping your body temperature stay even a little bit lower.
Cold showers or baths. Again, this is kind of basic (and something said, but I am making a general list) - just be careful because if your medical condition means that you can't regulate body temperature, then exposing yourself to water that is too cold could make you sicker. The water should be tepid - room temperature, or slightly cool. And don't stay in for too long. Set a timer and listen to your body.
Putting cold items - cold cloths, ice packs, etc. - on target areas. There are target areas where coldness on your skin is more effective: the back of your neck, the top of your head, and your spine. This targets your central nervous system and helps you get cooler faster.
Air circulation. Again, this one might seem obvious, but I thought I would say it. Being a hot stuffy room is bad, so opening up windows and using fans to circulate air - even if it's warm air - is better than sitting in a room that is basically working as an oven toward your body. Also keep in mind that air needs a path to flow - if you open a window in your bedroom, open your bedroom door and a window in another room to help the air flow. You might be surprised what a difference this makes. Also, even if it's hot outside, it will likely be hotter inside your house if there is no air flow in your house.
Pet cooling pads. They sell relatively cheap cooling pads for dogs and cats (we got one for my cat at the dollar store) and sometimes I randomly sit on it even though it's for my cat. I recommend getting one of these to sit on or keep inside your pillow case to make sleeping easier.
I keep thinking of many other basic things: light clothing/minimal clothing, lack of activity, eating cold food (like popsicles), stick your head in the freezer...
Watch the movie Frozen and pretend that you are in the icy Arendelle summer?

If you are still taking asks: What are your thoughts on Prapai?
P.s. I have been following you since your Inception days I believe. I just love the way you write. Your turn of phrase staggers me! Keep it up!
Prapai makes zero sense as a human being and I'm obsessed with him. If we take his behavior at face value, then he is actually a golden retriever of a human being, but that also ignores the reality of the implicit behavior prior to the beginning of our deeper narrative association of him? By the time we get into shit in episode 8 of LITA, we see Pai has a hot shit racer who sleeps around but then gets his world rocked by Sky and undergoes a total personal transformation. He's so cute and devoted! He delivers food! He loves Sky completely! It's all so tender and romantic!
ONLY IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT:
Pai is also a 25 year old fuckboy whose leisure activity is to engage in one of the most deadly sports in the world in an illegal racing circuit run by the fucking Thai mafia, and he knows Sky's abusive shitbag of an ex socially!! He might not LIKE them, but he's not shunning them socially, either. Like imagine if you're dating someone, and you go to a party with them and you find out your partner hangs out socially with Ben Shapiro. Does that not say 1 million things about your partner, even if they aren't besties with Ben Shapiro? Wouldn't you be gearing up for a deep night of soulful introspection about this person? A pro and con list that has to take into account if that dick is bomb enough to negotiate on whether or not he continues to hang out with the type of people who hangs out with fucking Ben Shapiro?
One of the most interesting elements of the series for me was when Sky was shutting Pai down hard post party in episode 12, when we saw Pai really, really angry. He's actually fucking scary when he's pissed! His entire house is tiptoeing around him, and he's just staring at his cell phone like a whole psycho and then he busts out THREE DIFFERENT MOBILE PHONES to call Sky--are those his phones?? When he was stalking Sky pre-dating, he was just changing his sim cards. Where did these fucking mobiles come from? Did he just steal them from other people in his house? What the fuck!
Also the fact that I have to clarify about the pre-dating stalking, not the post-dating stalking, is a problem! It's fiction so whatever, but were anyone in reality to engage in his behavior in the early days of his and Sky's interaction--that includes everything from the night they fucking met to the pervert rough breathing phone calls when he's probably doing bumps of coke and lifting in his gym at home--it would be like a fucking fire sale at the red flag outlet store.
So this is a guy whose anger is cold and calculated and terrifying, has no qualms with engaging in recreational or less recreational stalking behavior, used to and comfortable wielding power, clearly has a very elastic sense of morality, and no normal human calibration for fear of death. He also has the relentless confidence of both social privilege and generational wealth, and it is heavily implied in the series that he gets the Thai mafia to kill his boyfriend's ex. This guy is 100 percent a sophisticated sociopath whose upbringing and socialization has taught him how to mask flawlessly, and who has identified Sky as one of the 10 people he gives a fuck about on the whole planet.
I want to be super clear: all of this makes Prapai impossibly attractive to me and I'm obsessed with him. Pai triggers in me the same instinctive yearning that I feel when I spot a pack of Marlboro Reds or see a tumbler of bourbon. To leverage terminology the tumblr youth have taught me, Prapai is blorbo-shaped, to me, and has never done anything wrong, ever, in his entire life.

We went out for niece's birthday. Lots of shopping
I think I was the most spoiled 😅
I told mom "Hey its not my birthday, you can tell me no, it's okay."
And then there was hot topic where it was buy 1 get 2 free. We saw a cute pair of Ghibli earrings and then they said i needed a gengar tumbler and a pretty bff earrings. I don't know who I'm sharing it with. But it was pretty. 👀💦
We are so bad with money I don't know how we do it
In my defense everything we got was thrift and/or on sale. 😅

Camel, 4459 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles (East Hollywood), CA 90027
While there is no shortage of coffeehouses in LA, the recently opened Camel has managed to become a hot spot. Perhaps it’s because this is the first US location of Camel, a chain from South Korea. Camel took over the old Caffe Vita/Café Caravan space.
The lines are long…and the seating limited. The upstairs seating area has no tables, though you could use a stool as a table. Downstairs, there’s a small counter where you can find four stools. Vita used to have outdoor seating but that’s gone. It’s very noisy inside. The interior used to feel peaceful when it was Vita and Café Caravan.
I was told that the coffee is roasted locally and the pastries are from Clark Street Bread. I love Clark Street, so I’m happy with their choice, though the options are very limited (there are only five items: butter croissants, pain au chocolat, ham & cheese croissant, kouign amann, and Le tigre). “Le Tigre” is a specialty from the South Korean stores which looks like a madeleine (and is made exclusively for them by Clark Street).
Drinks include espresso drinks (medium dark roast beans or decaf made with milk & milk alternatives oat, almond), milk tea, matcha
Flat white (1/2 milk + espresso, $4.75): a bit bitter but strong and tasty
Ham & cheese croissant ($6.75): flaky, buttery, a bit salty, yummy
Le Tigre ($3): chewier and firmer than a madeleine but similar, chewy edges, moist, like a cookie cake
The merchandise for sale includes coffee beans, tees, totes, tumblers, and mugs. I liked Camel but I don’t see myself waiting in line for it since I like other places better.
4 out of 5 stars

Business Formation Update
Stack is converting to a nonprofit. It should be long to the people it serves, and not to just me trying to buy a boat and retiring as a millionaire. WTF was I thinking?
*** The Update.
1) Stack is close to being approved for fiscal sponsorship in the next week, then I will start planning a fundraising campaign. And this is what I specialized in college to do. In fact, I just wrote a grant proposal for a $985 grant. I will find out if I am chosen for the first round of interviews on Sep 1, 2023.
2) The T-shirts sales have been just 2. I am working to improve those processes and have added a Pinterest account in addition to a new Instagram and a Blogger. But, the Blogger account is really going to focus on the climate resilience piece and the 10 Steps from Good Grief Network, their new book.
3) I am seriously considering selling drop-shopped coffee beans that are named after my new adopted city in Washington state.
4) My first climate resilience support group meeting is tentatively scheduled for early November.
5) I want to start the ball rolling on a first event, a partnership for a preparedness Workshops and schedule it for October.
6) I just got in new stickers, 1.5' and 1.8". In 2 designs, qty. 200
7) I am going to look into buying a Cascadia Earthquake book in bulk to sell at events.
Drew... You should totes check out your friend, Ivonne Rivero from K-Boo radio 90.7 Portland and online. I worked there for a hot minute and tore shit up.(not really). It was beautiful, I met so many folx in the social justice space. Maybe Ivonne could interview me on the air so her audience could check out the first workshop! En español, of course. Maybe Pilar or someone could do it GASP! I could make it a project with Roxy of Somos Media! That is slay.

I think you are caught up. Thanks for reading. Please find me on Patreon to become a monthly sustainer, $8 a month is something, especially if 5 people do it. $40 can buy 4 promotional insulated coffee tumblers, branded with our logo, to sell for double that money!
Thank you.

Mereka juga sangat suka teriak dgn kencang orderan qt TAPI dgn tambahan2 kalimat yg ga jelas (bukan pelafalannya, tp pilihan katanya) tp sekali lagi ya. Ini subjektif dan mgkin ada SOP nya.Oh ya, entah gmn, berisik di sini jg dikarenakan jarak antar meja yg trlalu dekat. Mgkin hemat biar bs byk yg duduk kali ya buat minum. 😀Satu2nya yg menarik mungkin hanyalah minumannya atau makanannya.Sisanya, mgkin harus cari cafe lain.Salam sukses.
