Summer'21 Prep&Plan
I am using this summer as a chance to completely reset my life and glow up, and you should too <3
Here's what you need to do to have the best summer ever:
Phase 1 (Plan)
Figure out what you want out of this summer, get crystal clear on who you want to be by the end of the summer
Identify the goals to get you there, for every aspect of your life (school/ work/ health/ personal/ etc.)
Figure out what you need to do on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to get there
Establish a Flexible daily, weekly and monthly routine that you can stick to
Make sure your plan makes it impossible for you not to follow through
Draft a shopping list (this tip is easier to do at the end), it can be anything from straight white jeans to stationary to a lip scrub to AirPods, anything that will help you reach your goals
Phase 2 (Feel your best)
Health is wealth
How I live a healthy lifestyle - Part 1: Nutrition and Diet
Get into a calories deficit/ surplus if you want to lose/ gain weight (Do not count calories if they are a trigger!!)
Establish an exercise routine and stick to it (bonus tip: make sure it lines up with your hair washdays)
10,000 steps per day minimum, taking daily walks will help you reach your goals
Dance more
Eat healthier, you can go on a diet like the keto/ Mediterranean/ paleo diet or you can take a more intuitive approach and just improve your existing eating habits
Look into fasting and it's many benefits, you can do OMAD, intermittent fasting, alternate day fasting, 24 hour fasts, 72 hour fasts, etc. but start small if you are not used to it. You can even have a schedule (eg. one 72 hour fast per month)
Make sure you are getting all your vitamins and minerals
Water (2 liters per day), but you already knew that, didn't you?
Incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet
Stop snacking, unless you need to for health reasons
Quit sugar
Quit fizzy drinks (don't drink your calories)
Quit junk food (much healthier alternatives out there)
Skin
Do your research on different ingredients and products, you don't want to mess up your skin
Identify your specific sink type, needs and concerns (this is vital)
Figure out your AM and PM routine
Speaking of AM, wear your sunscreen!!
Get lip balm with SPF, my favourite is Palmer's dark chocolate and cherry
Try slugging (applying a thin layer of vaseline/ glycerin at the end of your PM routine)
De-puff your face in the morning, a Gua Sha is good for this or you could perform a facial massage with your hands
Ice your face in the morning, good for circulation and de-puffing
Use a facial oil, there are so many good ones out there, especially Argon and Rosehip oil
Do a weekly at-home facial
Apply a face mask AT LEAST once a week
Look into professional treatments if needed
Incorporate face yoga
Don't neglect your neck or chest
Establish an anti-ageing routine, prevention is better than treatment (will def have to make an in-depth post about this one)
Hair
Understanding your hair is a game changer!!
Identify your hair type, needs and concerns
Figure out how often you need to wash your hair and create a schedule
Establish a hair care routine for your washday
Establish a hair care routine for maintenance in between washdays
Treat any damage, Olaplex 3 is quite good
Oil your hair once a week or more, depending on your hair type and needs
Apply a hair mask/ a hot oil treatment as often as you can
Get henna treatments every 3 months or so
Look into dusting to maintain the health of your hair and keep up in between treatments
hair cuts, either a trim or to change up the look of your hair
Get any professional treatments if needed
The curly girl method is a good starting point if you have curly hair and don't know how to take care of it
Monthly rice water treatments
Apple cider vinegar rinse + a clarifying shampoo (no more than once a week) if you have hard water
A filter is quite good for hard water as well
Use a heat protectant, they work (if you get the right one)
Take care of your lashes and eyebrows, please.
Body care
Identify anything you want to change (stretch marks, cellulite, dark knees, etc.)
Figure out how to treat them
Establish a body care routine
Figure how to incorporate your treatments into your routine
Have a shower and after shower routine
Try to make sure all your body care is the same scent (either all vanilla or all peach or any other scent, Bath & Body Works is AMAZING for this)
Say it with me: SPF
Hand and foot creams are important, so are hand and foot masks
Use lip scrubs regularly
Weekly or bi-monthly at home or in salon manicures and pedicures
Look into dry brushing
Have a shaving/ waxing routine
Consider laser/ electrolysis/ IPL for permanent/ semi-permeant hair removal
Have a tanning routine if you want to
Use a body oil (bonus tip: make sure it shimmers for more fun)
Schedule weekly at home spa/ pamper days
Scent
I had to make this into it's own category just because it's that important.
How to smell good from head to toe, AKA my scent routine
Try to make sure all your body care is the same scent (either all vanilla or all peach or any other scent, Bath & Body Works is AMAZING for this)
Use a perfume oil on your pulse points, Musk and Oud scents from high quality middle Eastern brands are good for these
Have a scent for your clothing, preferably something light and a scent that can go well with most things, vanilla/ coconut/ musky/ florally body mists are good for this
Use a hair perfume, some hair moisturizing sprays have strong scents and can be used as a perfume, make sure it's low in alcohol
Have a signature scent
Rotate between scents every once in a while, this is good for scent association
Have different scents for different occasions, also good for scent association
Experiment with layering different perfumes
Invest in good quality perfumes
Teeth
Another important one
Brush your teeth 2x at least, preferably after very meal
Floss and use mouthwash
Go to a dentist regularly
Get professional cleaning and/ or whitening if you can
Get any other treatments you need
Whiten your teeth at home
Try oil pulling
Use a tongue scraper
Phase 3 (Mental Wellbeing)
This is quite personal to you but some suggestions:
Meditate
Script daily and practice LOA
Do Yoga daily even if for 5 minutes
Figure out what you need to work on
Identify any toxic traits you have
Identify where your bad habits/ traits come from and cut off the source
Identify anything stopping you from reaching your fullest potential and work on it
See a professional if needed
Essential oils can be helpful
Get enough sleep!!
Don't waste your time on meaningless things/ people/ situations/ etc.
Change your mindset/ attitude if you don't like it
Start each day by dancing, even if for 5 minutes
Affirmations
Schedule mental health days
A journal is great for venting and clearing your mind, as well as organizing your thoughts (it's insane what happens when you visually see your thoughts on paper)
Have a good work ethic and be disciplined
Go on regular dopamine detoxes
Reduce stress (easier said than done, but try to find your triggers and healthy coping mechanisms, research all there is to know and experiment until you have it under control)
Compliment other people, and accept compliments graciously
Enjoy the small things and romanticise your life
Phase 4 (Look your best)
Fashion
Re-evaluate your wardrobe
Upgrade your basics
Look into creating a capsule wardrobe
Figure out if you are more into timeless classic pieces or trends
With that being said, be careful with trends
Dress your age
Follow dress codes, please.
Always put in effort
Quality > Quantity
Jewellery can be phenomenal for changing an outfit
Speaking of jewellery, real stones/ crystals/ gold/ silver is best
Color coordinate your outfits, make sure they look cohesive
Wear appropriate shoes
Find style inspo
Handbags can elevate an outfit like no other (my favorite bag from my collection currently is the Bottega Veneta chain pouch in black, incredibly high quality)
Invest in good quality shape wear and undergarments
Wear cute Pajamas ( Upgrade your sleepwear. Trust me.)
Makeup
Doesn't have to be insane
Less is more
Good skin will make this step a lot easier
Have 5 or so signature looks for every occasion
Learn different techniques/ hacks
Find products that work for you
Keep your routine and collection simple
Hair
Always put in effort to make sure your hair looks good
Align your washdays with important events/ your schedule
Have 5 or so styles that you like
Minimize frizz and maximise shine
Health > length
Misc.
Have a good posture
And a good tongue posture too
Smile, or smize, not too exaggerated
Phase 5 (Live your best)
Lifestyle
This is, again, quite personal but here are some pointers/ ideas
Start/ end/ continue working on any personal projects
Learn a new skill
Learn a new language
Learn new recipes
Academic/ career goals
Cultivate Friendships and relationships
Network!!
Plan a vacation
Or a staycation
Or a mini trip
If you can't travel then fill your day with fun activities (visiting museums, pilates classes, going to theaters, or exploring local towns/ cities
Make lots of plans with friends
Discover new music
Discover new shows/ movies
Quit social media, or take your instagram to the next level, whatever suits you most
Volunteer
Get a summer job
Follow only the podcasts, blogs, subreddits, accounts etc. that help you reach your goals
Keep up with the news and current world events
Learn the basics of politics, economics, history, geography and philosophy (good conversation topics that show you are educated, they are also genuinely interesting)
Organization
Notion is a game changer
Find a to-do list that works for you
Calendar blocking is a great way to plan your day
Be busy but not too busy
Plan your meals in advance
Schedule any events
Reminders on your phone for important things
Misc.
Cancel any subscriptions you don't want
Keep a diary to recount the events of day
Keep a Bullet journal for lists and fun things to note
Take pictures (Bonus points if it's on an ever so slightly grainy camera)
Figure out how you plan to maintain any changes made and the up keep, whether it be with your weekly facials/ academia/ personal projects/ etc., you have to stick with it!
This summer is going to be amazing <3
Best of luck gorgeous,
Serena
xx

[frank castle x you]
author’s note: i dare u to judge me. blood mention, implied violence.

It was a Tuesday, but it felt like a dream. Warm October sun greeted you, still in bed, burrowed deep under the covers. The rays in all their toasty, golden glory swept over your face like a caress from a soft lover. The clouds were fluffy through your bedroom window, bright as they drifted across blue skies, no promise of rain in sight.
Frank had already left, it seemed, but not without leaving a fresh pot of coffee, and breakfast fresh from your favorite shop around the corner. The smile that lit up your face was as tired and radiant as the sun that shone outside. Your day was your own then, and you decided to make the most of it.
The door to your building latched, locked, audible behind you, stepping into air crisp enough to be felt in the lungs of those venturing out. The mercy of the sun was welcome, a contrast that always made your heart flutter. October was unseasonably chilly this year, to the point you would think it November if not for skeletons hanging from porch lights, sheet ghosts floating from balconies, and piles of jack-o-lanterns lining stoops and haunting storefronts.
A chill ran down your spine, and you pulled your coat closer as you went on your way.
Daylight was failing when you arrived home that evening. The sky, a deep violet bruise above; dusky, Halloween orange lurked just beyond the horizon. It was ominous, and festively so. String lights and plastic animatronics began to light the pathways of the streets.
When you made it inside, faint echoes sang from behind your apartment door. It was locked, the peephole shut. They were heavy sounds, one occasionally vocal.
Familiar as they were, your chest began to ache, but you pushed it down and opened the door anyway.
“Frank?” You set your keys on the table, left shoes by the door.
“Yeah?”
His voice called back strong, if not a little disjointed, distant. It echoed off bathroom tile, faded behind running water. You shrugged off your jacket, placed your spoils on the kitchen counter, followed his voice to the end of your apartment. There was a scented candle already burning in the living room.
Feet stopped in their tracks in the hallway.
This was, you admitted, not a sight that shook you anymore, though it certainly would not cease to be unsettling. The air seemed sticky, somehow charged and drained at the same time.
“Did you, uh – finally get in the Halloween spirit and try out fake blood?”
Frank’s smile reflected in the mirror was more of a grimace. Teeth bloodstained, crimson running down his chin to soak the neckline of his shirt, stained the porcelain under his palms temporary pink.
He wasn’t sure if you actually wanted him to lie to you. You hovered expecting some sort of answer, regardless. His weight shifted, facing you then. Your expression was both unbothered and concerned.
“Hey, you’re the one always encouraging me to be festive,” he spreads his arms, and you notice the rest of him isn’t sporting red of any sort. “You can’t get more authentic than this.”
It was a cheap joke, yet a laugh rolled off your tongue, genuine, albeit a little strangled. The ache in your chest deepened. The smile that painted your lips was real though, a balm to the ache in his heart and the throbbing in his thrice broken nose.
“God, you’re the worst,” you shook your head, tone teasing him through and through. Frank watched you disappear into the kitchen, heard the radio switch on, volume low and comforting. Sometimes the silence was too loud, too honest, too heavy. “Hurry up, I come bearing hot cider and fresh caramel apples. I will not hesitate to eat yours if you take too long.”
He barely felt the way his lips quirked up when you began to hum along to the song, almost over.

This headcanon request is for the Pyroxene Trio and the Leech Twins caring for an S/O who is weak to cold weather 🌨 I hope you are handling the chilly season well Raven ❄️
My feathers are freezing...
HAHA WHOOPS I MISREAD PYROXENE AS POMEFIORE... Y-You can read the Jack headcanons for this prompt here. Cater’s can be found here! I apologize for the mix-up!
Curiouser and Curiouser...
First thing’s first, Vil will make sure you’re all bundled up! He has a keen eye for fashion, so he’ll help you find something that suits your tastes and keeps you warm (without adding so many layers that it gives the illusion that you’re all puffed up like a marshmallow).
Vil’s all for accessories; adding a scarf and earmuffs to your ensemble ties your outfit together while covering up spots that would otherwise be exposed to the cold. He actually wears a scarf and earmuffs just like yours--so you match!
When you’re visiting Vil in Pomefiore, you often find yourself still shivering--which leads to him lending you spare sweaters and jackets. You tend to accidentally leave while still wearing his clothes (they’re just so cozy!), but hey! That just means you have another excuse to meet up with your boyfriend again soon, right?
He doesn’t want your poor skin getting dry, cracking, and bleeding from harsh windchill, so he brews up custom-made lotion and lip balm for you to use. How will he know you’ve been consistently applying them? Simple--he’ll hold your hands and kiss you himself to see how soft they are~
Rook suggests exercising to work up a sweat and to chase off the cold! He’ll even join you for your winter activity of choice! How about a snowball fight, ice skating, or snow shoeing? Just be careful to not run, or you might trip and fall (though he’d be more than happy to help you back up)!
If your fingers are frozen, leave it to Rook to warm them up for you! He’ll lovingly grasp your hands in his and bring them to his lips to thaw them with gentle kisses and puffs of his breath.
He’s not a master chef by any means, but he tries to whip up simple comforting campfire recipes for you, be it a rich stew of wild game and winter roots or ooey gooey s’mores! Rook watches you eat with a dream look on his face, chuckling when you get strings of marshmallow or traces of chocolate on your fingers.
Rook finds every excuse under the sun to cuddle with you! He’s a big proponent of keeping warm by sharing body warmth, so he’s pretty much always hugging or snuggling you! It’s strange, but it seems like even his lips are hot--you swear that you skin singes when he peppers kisses all over your face.
Epel has lots of blankets, and he’d be more than happy to share. Each of them has a story to tell (this quilt was hand stitched by his ma, this one was passed down from his grandparents, and this one is a frost blanket for apple trees!). He points to each one in turn and fondly recalls memories attached to each.
You’ll nestle under the comforters together and whisper to each other all about the various holiday traditions and mishaps you’ve had. You have his undivided attention--and, seeing him up close like this, you can really appreciate just how pretty he is. His large eyes sparkle and his cheeks flush with fondness as he listens to you recount a tale.
He’ll prepare a mug of hot apple cider for you, spiced to perfection with some cinnamon and nutmeg. It feels nice going down, and warms you up from the inside out.
Once your mug is drained, your eyelids start to feel heavy--and so do Epel’s. He murmurs sweet nothings to you as you both slowly drift off to sleep, heads resting against one another.
Jade’s quite resilient to the cold, so if he notices that you’re having a hard time enduring the weather, he has no qualms with offering you his blazer. If you’re in a private setting, he doesn’t mind lending you his other articles of clothing either--why, you just look so cute in his oversized jacket, fufufu.
He’ll also keep an arm around your shoulder and keep you close to him at all times! Not only does it keep you warm, but he gets to view your flustered expression all the while.
It’s in Jade’s nature to constantly tease you, but when winter rolls around, you’re almost thankful that for his playful flirtations. Your face just heats up whenever he leans into your ear to whisper something, or he teases you about how darling you look--and that pretty much keeps you warm for a good few hours.
What would you care to drink? Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, soup... Jade can prepare the warm beverage of your choice, and exactly to your tastes. If you’d like, he can serve it with a plate of freshly made cookies as well, each one iced and festive.
Like his twin, Floyd’s not all that bothered by the cold weather. He just strolls with you to class without so much as a light coat on. Of course, he takes notice of your small, shivering figure right away and asks you what’s wrong. (The first few times this happened, Floyd tried to help by draping himself on you--and while that did keep you warm, it also just made it hard to walk!)
Since then, he has cycled through a variety of different methods, including grabbing you and sprinting toward the nearest school building as fast as he can, and stripping off his blazer and setting it on fire. Rarely do these ever work, but they certainly get your adrenaline pumping and your cheeks flushed from laughter.
He’ll make you something nice to keep you warm! ... And by “something nice”, I mean Floyd will hand you a cup of warm milk and ask you to guess what weird syrup flavors he mixed into it! Some days, you get lucky with standard strawberry or chocolate, but other times he’ll stuff mint, butterscotch, raspberry, and licorice in all at once!
Of course, Floyd will give you lots and lots of hugs, both in public and in private, to keep you warm! He doesn’t really care who sees (better that the other fish understand what’s his now rather than later)--in fact, if other people are staring, it makes him just wanna cuddle you harder and nuzzle his cheek against yours!

Coquette in Autumn
Hello everyone! I know that Summer has ended, and that means many people who enjoy the coquette aesthetic are sad because the season of crop tops and shorts, boardwalks, ice cream, swimming, and much much more is gone. Most of the fashion requires warm weather. Fear not, if you’re like me and live in a place where fall exists I have made a list of helping keep up the asethetic and lifestyle.
Clothing:
Sweaters
Sweater dresses
Thigh high socks
Thigh high knee boots
Gloves. Especially ones with skeleton hands or little bows on them.
Hoodies. Especially ones with animal ears/bat wings.
Tights and pantyhose.
Capes
Light jackets
Beret hat
Fuzzy socks
Plaid skirts
Mary Jane shoes
Ankle socks (especially with lace)
Mini backpacks
Cat bell chokers
Ribbon chokers
All kinds of chokers
Combat boots

Halloween candy
Chocolate
Bread
Cherry pie
Apple pie
Pears
Acorn squash
Ginger
Cookies
Black charcoal anything
Activities:
Put together some cute back to school outfits. If you wear uniforms, but can have SOME level of individuality (such as makeup of accessories) find those.
Jump into fall leaves
Go trick or treating! If you feel you’re too old to do it for yourself do it for charity! There are plenty of kids who can’t get candy themselves, or who need money!
Go to a haunted house. Volunteer for a haunted house if you feel it suits you. Being petite can actually be an advantage. Creepy dolls, creepy children, being able to hide in small spaces can all be freaky!
Watch scary movies while sitting on the couch/bed while eating autumn food and wearing fuzzy socks and under a blanket. If you’re too scared by scary movies, watch Halloween specials.
Make/buy a cute/scary Halloween costume! Just make sure not to appropriate any cultures! There’s nothing cute about dressing up like someone else’s race.
Find things to be thankful for.
Volunteer at a local animal shelter. Nothing says Halloween like cats.
Go shopping at Halloween stores.
Decorate your house/apartment/room for Halloween.
Educate yourself on witchcraft and pay respects to those who made Halloween possible.
Pass out candy to trick or treaters (and if you want to, the single cuties chaperoning them).
Cover yourself in fake blood and take photos for Instagram. Just be careful! It stains clothing VERY easily.
Go on a walk through the walls.
Apple picking.
Pumpkin picking.
Carving a jack o lantern.
Reading. Especially with a cup of tea.
Try your hand at archery
Other Objects:
Candles
Mugs
Small pillows

Would you answer all the autumn asks?
Going to try to do this...
AUTUMN ASKS
1. Apple pie: what’s cooking? (Or planned to cook?)
Atm or Halloween??
I did a salad today, was easy and i’m lazy. For halloween - Halloween cookies and maybe a huge fudge brownie.
2. Chilly air: are you a warm weather or cold weather person?
When i was younger i was cool weather, and since i live in the desert - i’ve become a warm weather person. I do however adore the coolness of fall - and dream of moments waking up in crisp cool air.
3.Misty mornings: what time do you wake up? What for?
Depends, i dont have a set time. I wake up super early for errands and cleaning atm. So sometimes 4 am, sometimes 6 - and when i’m tired it’s like 10 am.
4.Oversized sweaters: what sweater weather outfit are you looking forward to wearing?
Definitely sweater dresses are a favorite item for me, but a fantastic jacket is also up there.
5. Carved pumpkins: what holidays (popular or pagan) are you celebrating this fall?
Halloween, Samhain, Dia De Los Muertos (Mexican Catholic, so it’s a family thing)
6.Ghost stories: what books are you reading?
The Invention of Murder: How the Victorians Revelled in Death and Detection and Created Modern Crime
7. Hot coffee: what’s your drink this fall?
I switch between my cafe latte, lemon grass tea, and hot chocolate
8. Cold hands: anyone to hold them?
Atm single and enjoying the freedom
9.Spooky shadows: any increased spiritual activity?
Nightmares or deja vu type dreams come to mind.
10. Crunchy leaves: what’s your favorite noise/sound to hear?
Guess a tinkling of the piano, or some soft violin melodies
11.Scented candles: 5 favorite smells you love?
Usually any fall or autumn ones that contain apple, cinnamon, vanilla, pumpkin spice but very soft, and rose/flower ones.
12.Hurricanes: what do you do on rainy days?
Debating on when it’s raining or how hard - cause i actually live in fear of Hurricanes or heavy rains.
When it’s a soft rain - i sometimes open the doors and windows to let the heat steamed water smell enter the house.
13.Cinnamon: what are your favorite spices?
Black pepper, nutmeg, cilantro, chipotle - too many
14.Boots: Favorite pair of shoes/boots you own?
15. Monster masks: what’s your makeup/morning routine?
I used to do a full face up of stuff when i was in high school and college - but now i keep it pretty simple. Wash lightly with shea moisture bar, moisturize, simple products like lip balm or a fancy lip stick - vitamin e once in a while.
Then i get up and have water - which is my constant first drink. Might make something to eat, which changes daily.
16 Black cat: what pets do you have/want?
Dont have any pets atm, though i had them for a lot of my life. After my last cat disappeared i didnt want to own another pet cause it was hard to have a good enough space to keep them.
I want any animal, i would have a few different pets if i had enough room and a good financial situation.
17.September: What’s your favorite kind of weather?
A windy overcast day - like those that are cool enough to wear a jacket with - but not freezing.
18.October: Did you go trick-or-treating on Halloween when you were younger?
I went trick or treating for most of my teens - at first for myself only - then we took younger family members out during their time.
19.Pumpkins: Have you ever carved a jack-o-lantern?
Yea - a few times. I get that sorta hankering feeling that i want to both eat and cut one up. We usually try to keep and use all the goods cut out - so we have to get things ready to make stuff with the seeds and the left over pieces.
20.Leaves: When the leaves change, what color looks the prettiest?
I never got to collect leaves - but when i was around Sycamore trees i wanted to. I preferred a yellow green piece and also a pure orange one.
21.Rain: Do you wear a Raincoat or carry an Umbrella?
I dont have a raincoat or an umbrella. I dont enjoy using Umbrellas - mostly cause i’m the fool that has one flip out when i’m walking around. My state can have some really insane winds.
22.Caramel Apples: Favorite Halloween candy?
Can anyone only have one favorite Halloween Candy??? I guess a fight out between dark chocolate kit kat, twix, and taffy.
23.Candles: What’s your favorite way to cozy up on a rainy autumn day?
My favorite thing to do is curl up with a book by Barbara Michaels - she did sorta romantic crime solving stuff.
24.Pumpkin Pie: Share your favorite autumn recipe.
Cream Cheese Pumpkin Pie
25.Apple Cider: Do you drink your apple cider hot or cold?
Never had apple cider - cold or hot. Been wondering if i should make my own this year.
26.Wind: Have you ever been outside your own country during Autumn? Tell us about your experience.
Only been to Mexico - but it isnt too far or different from my own Autumn.
It does get cool, but of course it’s usually hovering around 60. There’s also rain on and off, it was much wetter in the 80s and 90s - but has become a lot more warm since then.
27.Books: What was the last book you read?
Ghost Children
I picked this up cause this was one of my childhood favorite books - i would check this out constantly and keep it for as long as i could. Sadly the book i got didnt have the creepier tomb cover with the depressed child ghost on the cover.
28.Socks: What kind of socks do you like? Do you wear matching socks, fuzzy socks, tall socks, or no socks?
It seems like almost EVERYONE who adores Halloween has a million types of socks, from the witch black and purple ones, to the horror blood themed ones, or the bats and pumpkin covered ones. I have any number which i sometimes mix and match when i’m in a hurry. I dont wear socks when i wear shorts or dresses - so unless i flash my ankle at you - you wont see the silliness.
29.Coat: Is Autumn your favorite season?
Yes - followed by spring - as it is a nice cool time.
30.Jacket: how do you feel about pumpkin flavoured things in general?
Love so many of them. Atm sad that Noosa isnt in my area anymore - as that was my favorite yogurt and they had an amazing pumpkin version. I’m not a fan of all the pumpkin stuff - but there’s enough to cover everyone’s taste buds.
31.Gloves: Is the weather finally feeling more like autumn where you are now?
In the mornings i feel it - cause it’s usually around 60 or so. During the day - NAH. It’s from 50 to 90 every day, which is what happens in the desert.
32.Campfire: Do you like going outdoors for activities like camping, hiking, or mountain biking?
I want to like all of that stuff, as i used to love being in the woods. Thing is - it depends on where you are going, what you have - and how close to people you are. I dont feel i could be lumber-jacking it anywhere - but for a nice day thing i would be down.
33.Mini pumpkins:Best pumpkin design I’ve ever carved/plan on carving
Mine are simple cause i am sorta scared of knives - cant do a lot when i keep worrying about if i will cut too much or too fast. I am not scared of people with knives - i’m scared of me using knives and cutting myself. I did it fairly bad one time - and i get nervous about it.
34.Forest: What are five of your favorite things about autumn?
The smell in the air, the change of time and day length, how the plants will not burn as much under the sun, seasonal food, cooler days
35.hoodie: how different was your life five years ago?
Had a bit more money, was working out a lot more, had a few friends i was arguing with a lot, a certain orange wasnt destroying the world, was getting ready for Halloween festivities.
36. Tea: Favorite scary story or legend
There’s a few - La LLarona, Headless Horseman, Carved Mouth woman
37.Spices: Favorite character from a Halloween movie
Sam from Trick r Treat or Sadako from Ringu
38.Maze: Have you ever gone to a corn maze?
Have been meaning to go to one near me - though i went on a hay ride/corn maze ride as a kid.
39.Haunted hayrides: Tell a spooky campfire story (if you have one)
Had to look up what a campfire story would be or contain - and someone said the story of Bloody Mary. I wonder if Elizabeth Bathory would work as one. I’m the lame history loving person - so i might add in a ton of history tidbits to give more of a gore styled retelling.
40. Boo: Do you believe in ghosts? If so, have you ever had an experience?
I’m a spiritual person, so i cant rule ghosts out totally. I have had an experience with something i thought might have been ghost like - it is hard to describe to anyone who didnt have it. I also am not trying to convince anyone of it.
41.color: If you live in a climate where the trees change colors, do you like walking/driving around and looking at them?
Sadly none of my trees change - unless you go to a specific park where they planted these poor trees that shouldnt be here cause of our weather. I dont see cactus and mesquite change - but they are nice plants.
42.Lights: Do you decorate your home for Halloween?
I do - i try to do it to the point where at least 70 percent of my house front is covered. This year, i am not going to decorate as i dont want kids to trick or treat - i want people to be safe. Atm though - i put up a wreath on my door with a spider and some bats.
43. Party: Do you hand out candy on Halloween, have/attend parties, or do something else?
My general Halloween day starts with me having family and friends come over, then handing out candy to kids, and at night going out to any clubs. At 3 or 4 am i come back and spend time watching horror movies until we pass out from things.
Had been trying to change plans for 2020, i wanted to go to New Orleans - but that plan was scratched.
44. Movies: Favorite scary movie
Just like with music - my stuff changes every 5 years. I would say atm i am in a toss up between the VVitch and Midsommar. Before that was Let the Right one in. Those are my favorite horror films, but my fav Halloween film atm is Paranorman.
45.Novel:Favorite spooky novel
I already know i need to read more, i dont know if i have read a scary enough novel that i have a favorite one. I really need to get past my true crime and history stuff, cause those are scary to me.

PREPARATIONS FOR INTERNAL USE
INFUSIONS
Infusions are the best way to process tender and green parts of the plants such as flowers and leaves. They involve steeping herbs in cold water overnight, or most often, in boiling water for 10 minutes, and straining them before consumption. It's better to prepare infusions in tea pots or lidded saucepans to avoid losing any volatile oils.
Ratios: 1 tsp of single dried herbs OR 2 tsp of a mixture of dried or fresh herbs per cup of water (aprox. 200ml). Dried herbs contain higher amounts of essential oils and are stronger than fresh herbs.
Dosage: up to 3 cups a day.
Shelf life: up to 3 days refrigerated ( use an airtight container).
DECOCTIONS
Decoctions are the best way to process thicker and woodier parts of the plants such as roots, bark, fruits and seeds. They involve simmering herbs in water for 15-20 minutes, and straining them before consumption. It's better to prepare decoctions in an enamelled, steel or iron cast pan as other metals may taint them.
Ratios:2 tsp of single crushed dried herbs OR 4 tsp of a mixture of crushed dried or fresh herbs per 2 cups of water (aprox. 400ml).
Dosage: up to 3 cups a day.
Shelf life: up to 3 days refrigerated ( use an airtight container).
TINCTURES
Tinctures are stronger than infusions and decoctions and involve steeping herbs in alcohol for 2-4 weeks, keeping the mixture away from sunlight and shaking it occasionally. The herbs must be dry and covered completely with a suitable alcohol (vodka, gin or brandy). Strain before consumption.
Ratios:N/A
Dosage: 2-5ml in a small glass of water up to 3 times a day.
Shelf life: up to 18 months in a cool, dark place (use a sterilised bottle).
GLYCERITES
Glycerites are similar to tinctures and involve steeping herbs in food-grade glycerine for 2-4 weeks, keeping the mixture away from sunlight and shaking it occasionally. The herbs must be dry and covered completely with glycerine. If the glycerine feels too thick, it can be heated in order to make it runnier. Stir to release any air pockets. Strain before consumption. Ideal for children.
Ratios:N/A Dosage: 2-5ml in a small glass of water up to 3 times a day.
Shelf life: up to 18 months in a cool, dark place (use a sterilised bottle).
SYRUPS
Syrups are a good way of preserving infusions and decoctions for longer time. They're thick and sticky making them ideal to coat and soothe sore throats and coughs. The preparation of syrups involves simmering an infusion or decoction with sugar for 10-20 minutes until the mixture thickens, and allowing to cool down before pouring into a sterilised bottle. To balance the sweetness and adding extra preservative, add 1 tsp of citric acid.
Ratio: 1:1, eg: 250g unrefined sugar per 250ml of infusion or decoction.
Dosage: 3-6 tsp a day as a syrup.
Shelf life: up to 12 months in a cool, dark place. Consume within 2 months after opening.
OXYMELS
Oxymels are herbal blends of vinegar and honey and can be used as syrups or cordials mixed with water. They involve infusing in a container some fruits or herbs covered in vinegar (apple cider vinegar preferably) for 1 month, shaking occasionally. Straining the mixture and mixing it with an equal amount of honey, and pouring into an sterilised bottle. Serve 10ml per cup of water or infusion (250ml).
Ratio; 1:1.
Dosage: 3-6 tsp a day as a syrup.
Shelf life: keep refrigerated and use within 3 months.
VINEGARS
Vinegars involve steeping herbs in vinegar for 2-4 weeks, keeping the mixture away from sunlight and shaking it occasionally. The herbs must be dry and covered completely with vinegar. Strain before consumption and use diluted, 10ml per cup of liquid, or use undiluted in salad dressings. Vinegars can be used externally diluted into healing baths or in compresses.
Ratios:N/A
Dosage: depending on herbs.
Shelf life: up to 24 months in a cool, dark place (use a sterilised bottle).
STEAMS
Steam baths can be used in a number of ways, from vaginal steaming to steam inhalations, and involve chopping/crushing fresh herbs and placing them in a bowl of boiling water, then directing the steam to the desired zone for 10 minutes.
Ratio: N/A
Shelf life: N/A
HONEYS
Herbal honeys are a good way to combine the healing properties of herbs with the properties of the honey. They involve placing dried herbs in a jar and covering them with honey. Stirring to release any air pockets and allowing it to infuse for 3-4 weeks.
Ratio: N/A
Dosage: 3 to 6 tsp a day.
Shelf life: up to 12 months.
PREPARATIONS FOR EXTERNAL USE
HERBAL BATHS
Herbal baths were very popular in the past and their popularity only declined recently. They were often used to treat skin and urinary infections, calm aches such as menstrual cramps and rheumatic pain, and to promote tissue healing after childbirth.
To extract the herbs' properties is better to prepare an extra strong infusion in a medium to big saucepan and strain it before adding to the bathwater. Alternatively, herbs can be placed in a stocking and let infuse in the bathwater. This will prevent any herbs blocking the plumbing and will save cleaning time.
Shelf life: N/A
MACERATED OILS
Macerated oils are herb infused oils that can be used as massage oils or as a key ingredient of salves, balms and creams. There are two methods to macerated oils:
“Bain-Marie method”; also known as “heat” method, it's the quickest way to infuse oils. It involves steeping dried herbs in a heatproof bowl or smaller saucepan and covering completely with a vegetable oil. Then placing the bowl/saucepan inside a bigger saucepan with water and simmering for 2 hours, topping up the water as needed. Straining and repeating with a new batch of herbs to double infuse. Straining and pouring into a sterilised bottle.
“Sun method”; this is the traditional method and involves steeping the herbs into a jar and covering with oil. Then shaking the jar to release any air pockets, sealing and leaving it in a sunny place, turning the jar everyday for 2 weeks. Strain and repeat for double-infused oil. Pour into a sterilised bottle.
Shelf life: up to 12 months in a cool, dark place.
SALVES & OINTMENTS
Salves and ointments are a blend of infused oils and waxes or butters. Their thickens makes them easier to apply and carry around than infused oils, and they can be used to treat a wide number of skin conditions and wounds. They're prepared using a “bain-Marie” technique with a 1:4 ratio of wax/butter to infused oil.
Shelf life: up to 12 months in a cool, dark place (use sterilised jar).
BALMS
Balms are salves with a 1:1 wax/butter to oil ratio. They're thicker and harder than salves and ointments, and make excellent balms for dry lips/skin and sore muscles.
Shelf life: up to 12 months in a cool, dark place (use sterilised jar).
COMPRESSES
Compresses are bandages soaked in strong infusions (double herbs per cup ratio). They're used to treat swellings, wounds, sprains and aches in general. Apply 2-3 times a day for 30 minutes, better covered with a warm towel or blanket.
Shelf life: N/A
POULTICES
Poultices are bandages that contain herbs softened in hot water and crushed. They're used to treat swellings, wounds, sprains and aches in general. Apply 2-3 times a day for 30 minutes, better covered with a warm towel or blanket.
Shelf life: N/A
Disclaimer: these are not definitive ratios and they may vary depending on plant and intended use. When in doubt or before trying something new, it’s always safer to consult a doctor or professional herbalist.

I'm 35, but my mom will never not buy me Christmas presents and I love it and I love her (and now I'll have these for my collection!). I had both of these in 8th grade (2002-2003) and I remember taking them to the shooting range with my dad and these scents will always remind me of the time we spent together there. We don't do much anymore bc we can never get along, but I still love my dad with my whole heart and I'm excited to have these for my collection. That's us in Pittsburgh years ago.

🌰🍂MABON🌾🍁
Alrighty so I've been losing my mind in love with this sabbat properly for the first year and I don't know why. I feel silly for not making the connection before that the beginning of my favourite season is almost as exciting as my favourite day of year (it's October 31st ok I'm basic). ANYWAYS I'm excited today and wanted to share the little ways I'm celebrating as a solitary lil witch.
I got the flowers on my leg touched up today, after I did laundry and grocery shopping. I also had my finger tats and and the flowers on my arm touched up by a fellow witch in town. All the while, I was sipping hot apple cider from my travel mug.
I've also been freaking out at the amount of deja vu, reoccurring themes etc that are too much to just be constant coincidences. We've all been there.
I had been holding off eating my green mints and using my green lip balm until Mabon because I have this urge to be as strange as possible leading up to Samhain.
If you think I'm joking, I promise you these are the only lip glosses I own. And I also use them as eyeshadow and highlighter. And I don't use any other makeup. It's weird on purpose.
Shade was keeping an eye on the birds while I made a bundle of plants from inside and from my garden outside. It's now hung up to dry and I'm planning on burning it when I go camping with my dad around mid October.
I bought this pumpkin spice candle today, and I've been snacking on pistachios and popcorn and watching deep JennaJulien podcasts like the Dreamcast episode. I also boiled orange peels with cinnamon sticks for hours the other day, composted the solids and used the remaining infused water to rinse my shampoo from my hair. Yes I smell amazing. AND I cleaned parts of my home that I had procrastinated on for far too long.
PLEASE SHARE WHAT YOU DID/ARE DOING TODAY I'D LOVE TO HEAR IT!
