I have Couvid from work so that means I get to ramble and debunk the ghost equipment used in the RLM video all I want in a non professional view !
So I'm only gonna really talk about some of the basics as shown above and some random ghosty moments, because I can, the guys kinda went over a few things in regards to them being not the best pieces of equipment but I need more people to know how like abysmal these things are in the sense of gaining evidence.
Also I'll throw in like an estimate on price cause,,, why not i dunno I'm sick also pre warning I am not smart and I am not an expert, I'm just kind of obsessed with watching ghost debunking videos and watched ghost adventures too much as a teen,,,, this is also gonna be really long sorry
1. Junk aka the shitty voice recorders and tiny camera's
This is just a throwaway thing really encapsulating the voice recorders and the tiny camera mike brings, I think it's common sense and even pointed out in the video that these things are just useless, they barely worked during the time in recording voices and give a shit ton of rough audio and catching small noises like getting brushed against your clothes etc it's easy to misinterpret a random noise as anything you want. I'm not sure with this model but some voice recorders let you even keep certain old messages and such.
And in similar vein, old camera's are not gonna give you high quality pictures, so like what's the point ? So it can capture dust and grain or crunch pixels so you can claim it to be a ghost ? The ghost won't disrespect you for using a higher quality camera.
Estimate Price ( Aiworth(?) Recorders x2, digital zoom recorder, Canon digital still camera) - $200
2. Mel Meter + EMF Readers
I don't ever understand the point of these things, it detects the temperature and like EMF readings, both things that are supeerrr debunkable, it's good visual point for ghost hunters to be like look ! it's cold ! but like cold spots/ drafts will happen in shitty old houses and buildings, hot spots can also happen because of electrical spots and again more shitty structure of the building. I was amused to see a reddit thread talking bout how ghost adventures apparently barely use them anymore, I guess it's easier to just claim you're cold now without having to show it.
Also EMF is like gonna be picked up from so many things especially in buildings, any man made object will, as shown by rich's phone setting it off, also simple electrical wiring which is why apparently you can stick these near outlets and it'll go off. Also, whilst the Axe Murder House claims to have no power etc it does have AC/Heating so like,,, there's wiring and such around new and old for sure.
Estimate Price (EMF readers x 4 , Mel Meters x 2 ) - $280
3. Spirit Box
A classic ghost device which i'm pretty sure is the one Mac gifted Mike, either way, pretty useless lol it shuffles through radio signals, what sense does this make with a ghost interacting with it, I dunno either way it purely works on the logic of pseudoscience, concentrating on nonsense of static to hear something you're bound to fool yourself into having heard something once it pauses on certain words, and as even used by RLM the use of captions on the screen greatly helps fool anyone into hearing what you read, kinda like when you repeat audio and hear different words when you read different things, right ?
It's like convincing yourself to see a face in tv static, that whole Pareidolia thing, seeing jesus in your toast etc.
Estimate Price - $90 but technically free being a gift
3. Ovilus V aka the overpriced magic 8 ball
These things are apparently known and called out for being dumb, it coincidentally only has 2000 or so words in it's dictionary and as pointed out by other rlmblrs and blortch :3c it's easier for it to have a bunch of pre-set spooky words in it's dictionary that could be interperted into any scary situation then having like,,, "penguin" "mustard" etc and whilst some claim that the timing on the words is too mysterious to be useless, as the saying goes a broken clock is right twice a day.
Plus, this thing goes off so much when it wants to, I remember watching a guy show a demonstration of how to use it and when he turned it on it shouted like 15 nonsense words all one after another and when someone pointed that out in the comments, the dude claimed his green screen room was haunted asjdksjdklfkj
Also, why the fuck did these assholes keep saying they're going to switch it to drawing mode like 5 times in the video and then never do it, show me it draw,,,
Price Estimate - Allegedly $800 ,,,, though the one I saw on the ghost site I'm using was only like $600 *shrug*
Ghost Phenomenon break - Battery draining
So I know Mr. Bauman is the Camera guy and I can barely work my phone's camera BUT from research I could find there's quite a few reasons on why this happens for camera's. The most plausible and likely answer is,,,,dodgy batteries which was even noted by the guys themselves, as when they put in a new battery, it was fine.
I did find it interesting though that apparently these fancy camera's are gonna drain batteries faster when shooting in higher quality, which is probably why you see that they're always plugged in around the studio. Also, some other features apparently will drain batteries much faster, such as having auto focus on or just having night vision which i don't ?? think this camera does ?? i couldnt see anything about it. But either way, there's a multitude of reasons on why the battery drained,,, that doesn't come down to it being a ghost.
5. Rem Pods aka their big scary moment
These things suck.
They're cheap as shit material wise and prone to going off for the most random of things, as I found out when I was "researching" these machines. Being built from just shitty mini theremin circuit boards super glued to a bunch of LED lights that flash when it detects vibrations, there's no fancy science or logic to em. There was even a guy in one of the forums noting that he can make these things for like 20 quid and big ghost companies will upsell em to hundreds of dollars to scam people basically.
But basically, these things will go off from even just wind brushing against them, or just anything disrupting it's sorta electromagnetic field, there's videos you can find on youtube of people managing to set these things off by being in a completely different room using a walkie talkie, not saying the RLM guys did this but,,, these things will literally beep for fun asjdksldjfk
The whole dust thing touching the antenna is not a ghost touching it,,, its showing that dust is being carried/ falling with some kinda draft and therefore probably disturbing the theremin setting it off. And finally, as shown in the big moment of it going crazy, as even discussed by the guys themselves,,, the battery was probs just busted once again as it fixed itself the moment a new battery was put in asjdkljsdfkl I would also note though that it probs isn't gonna help much if a bunch of middle aged guys (affectionate) come walking across the creaky wooden attic floorboards that it's sitting upon too asjdklsdj
Price Estimate Rem Pods x 2 - $380
Conclusion -
Overall Price Estimate (maybe!) - $ 1, 660 !
In conclusion, ghost hunting equipment is a load of shit and a waste of your money, don't fall for it, if you want to experience ghosts you need to raw dog it.
Also, I'd say don't go to haunted locations/buildings, these places are mostly just there to profit off the murders and abuse/torture and trying to twist some weird stories, theories or hell even political agenda into the lives of very real people which is kinda crazy IMO
#rambles#this took way too long#why did i do this#i gotta take my painkillers#okay baaaiiiii#rlm#if you see spelling mistakes or poor grammar#ignore it#plz

Toys for the rich that can cost less than a new Toyota Camry - before tax credits? You can get a brand new Chevy Bolt for $19k, cheaper than most sedans.
Even the cheapest Tesla, with federal tax credit, is $33k - that's $4k cheaper than a new Honda Odyssey (the classic mom van).
Electric cars give you range estimation. They also lie to you and save an extra 10-20 miles after their range estimates hit zero- after this you can't drive at highway speed and the car will drive slower and slower until you stop. You don't just run out. It depends on the manufacturer how exactly this is handled, but the car should be giving you tons of warnings well before you're in trouble. (And in OP's hypothetical, if you're on a mountain, driving downhill will recharge the battery.)
Yes, PV panels are not practical. This is largely because, as OP acknowledges, the area available vs the power density of sunlight is not great. Realistically, you can get about 200 W/m2 in strong sun and warm temps at solar noon with the panel facing the sun directly (which the panel on a roof of a car can't do unless many other things have gone wrong already). That's enough for - depending on the car - up to about one mile per hour per meter of panel in the best possible conditions. Which is something! Sometimes!
BUT it also costs money, adds reliability issues, introduces another potential expensive repair, only can help in some circumstances, and addresses an issue that (1) few drivers should be encountering and (2) the car tries quite hard to prevent you from reaching, which is why it's mainly super-luxury EVs that do it. It's flashy, expensive, and mostly useless.
1) Money. Normal solar panels that go on houses or in solar farms are mass-produced in standard shapes and sizes with standard frames and connections. They have standard quality and testing benchmarks that they've passed and they can more or less be made by the multimillions per year for barely more than the cost of raw materials. It's possible to shape thin solar cells to the roof of a car, which is, y'know, how some EVs do it, but it's far more expensive. The tools are bespoke and low-volume, you can't use the same cheap flat glass and standard aluminum framing, you have to re-test that it can stand up to rain and small hail and heat and high wind and all the other onslaughts that come with being on the roof of a car. The (optional) solar roof on a Hyundai Ioniq 5 adds >$1,000 to the purchase price while returning to you - at best - a whopping 3 miles per day if parked in full sun. Hyundai also offers solar cells on the most expensive Sonata hybrid - which will get you less than half a mile ler hour in full sun, but will set you back an extra $5,000. Cars that offer more than a few miles' worth per day are generally concept cars that'll set you back $100k or more, total, for up to ~40 miles. Cells are expensive and they don't gain you much.
2) Reliability and repair. On top of the purchase price, it's way more expensive to replace a panel with busted cells than to swap out a plastic body panel. There's more that can go wrong in assembly, it's harder to get replacement parts if you're in a crash, etc.
3) Solar panels are less effective when hot. When they're in the desert with free air circulation, that's one thing - if they're on top of the heat box that's a parked car? That's another. Much of the heating of a parked car happens through the windshields/windows (that's why putting a reflector up can drop the interior temps by 20 deg F or more). A parked car has the virtues of making the panels less efficient by tilting them away from the sun and heating them up. Batteries also cannot (safely) charge when over or under a limit temperature which varies with their chemistry. If you've heard a parked EV gently humming in the cold or heat, it's running its heat or AC to keep the battery at a safe temperature. This uses energy. So no, you may not even have more range at the end of a day of sitting in the sun - because energy is being used to keep the battery in its safe temperature range.
4) Many current consumer-affordable EVs can regain >100 miles of charge in less than 20 min on a fast charger and even >50 in 5 minutes.
5) If you're regularly cutting it that close on charging, you're really hurting your battery. You should not be doing that. Batteries degrade much faster when discharged to 0% than they do when discharged down to 20%. This has to do with the chemistry of the batteries and I can't go into huge detail here, but it's a similar phenomenon as why draining your regular car battery beyond its min state can destroy it permanently. Your battery will last far longer if you charge and discharge it small amounts more frequently than if you take it down to 0 and back to 100%. This is also true for e.g. laptop and phone batteries.
6) you CAN get electricity and bring it back. it's called a portable battery. some roadside service providers carry them. you can buy one. if your roadside service provider doesn't offer this, they can tow you home, which is far less expensive than a whole solar roof and far faster than waiting for two days for your car to charge.
even though people regularly have to get gas cars jumpstarted because they left the headlights on and the starting battery died - or because it got cold - and even though gas cars get hot in the sun, we do not cover gas cars in solar panels. because it's far more expensive and technically troublesome than it's worth.
Okay also I’ve been driving electric cars long enough now to be really emphatic that the fact that they’re not all automatically built with solar panels in the roofs is a scandal.
And somehow almost every time I tell anyone this they roll their eyes and attempt to explain to me that this would not create a perpetual motion machine because of the limitations of the area relative to the power draw of the motor, which is incredibly annoying because that’s not the point.
Yes it’s possible that driving in the sunshine with a solar collector dripping into the battery would net you a little more mileage on that trip before needing recharge, but the usefulness of a solar-topped electric car is that if you drive it someplace–say, to work–and leave it outside in the sun all day, you’ll definitely have more range available by the time you’re ready to head home.
Also if you fuck up your calculations because of the inefficiency induced by cold weather or something and get yourself stranded without anywhere to charge, like halfway up a mountain or, more likely, six miles from home, you can call for rescue or walk away, come back later, and it’ll be able to move again.
This is important because unlike running out of gas you can’t really go get some electricity.
#blaurgh.#EVs are no longer the playthings of the rich. some EVs are among the cheapest cars you can buy new.#EVs with solar roofs that do ANYTHING generally are.#come on. sometimes we don't do things because while those things are possible they are complicated and expensive.#sorry glitterbug. this is not an attack on you it's just a thing i am TIRED of seeing as a misconception and it crossed my feed on your blo#also. if you have AAA a six mile tow should be free. are you really leaving your car somewhere for two full days so you can get home?

AC Installation: 7 Things to Consider
With its many advantages necessary for modern living, air conditioning is an absolute necessity for residential and business areas. Increased comfort is the most important of all its benefits since it makes the inside comfortable in both hot and cold weather. Furthermore, by removing allergens and pollutants from the air, air conditioning systems help to maintain better indoor air quality and promote a healthier atmosphere for people to live or work in. They are also essential in controlling humidity, which helps to avoid problems like mould development and discomfort brought on by overly dry or wet air.
Nonetheless, split system air conditioner installing in Newcastle is a job that requires skill and careful thought. Although Sky Heating & Air Conditioning is very satisfied with its AC repair and replacement expertise, potential clients should be well informed to optimize returns on investment. Before choosing a choice, considerations such as the space's size, energy efficiency ratings, and maintenance needs should be carefully considered. People can guarantee the best possible comfort, long-term financial savings, and environmental sustainability by being aware of these subtleties.
1. Variety In Sizes For ACs
The majority of air conditioners have comparable sizes. However, an AC's capacity is not determined by its dimensions. British Thermal Units (BTUs) and tons quantify cooling capacity. An air conditioner removes roughly 12,000 BTUs of air per hour per ton.
An air conditioning in Newcastle can cool a greater area with more BTUs. A standard 2,000-square-foot house is suitable for a 3- to 3.5-ton unit. The best-sized HVAC system is also influenced by factors like the climate, the quantity of windows and doors in a house, the quality of the insulation, and the number of people living there.
2. Energy Efficiency Must Be Maintained
The US Department of Energy regularly updates the energy efficiency standards. All residential air conditioning systems in the United States must be rated at least 14 SEER in the north and at least 15 SEER in the south. An HVAC system will cost more the more efficient it is. Nonetheless, many jurisdictions have incentive schemes that allow consumers to save money on split system air conditioner installing in Newcastle. The energy savings can be significant since about half of your power bill comprises heating and cooling expenses.
3. Why Ductwork Is Not Required
The cost of installing or upgrading ducting can go into the thousands. Furthermore, ducts grow more vulnerable to leakage as they age. If twenty or thirty per cent of the conditioned air in your ducts leaks, your energy expenses will increase significantly. Systems without ducts eliminate inefficiencies and other problems related to ducting. Additionally, they enable you to create several zones, allowing you to independently regulate the temperature of various rooms, floors, or locations.
4. The Cost of Installing an AC Depending on the Season
Prices will increase in the summer since there is a greater demand for air conditioners. When consumers consider their cooling needs in the spring, you'll also see higher prices. However, most people don't feel their air conditioning throughout the winter. Purchasing at the right time of year can help you save 10%, 20%, or even more. While pleasant weather in the north in the fall and spring encourages many HVAC providers to give discounts to keep their staff busy, winter purchases in the south save homeowners money.
5. Keep the Air Filter in Mind
Your air conditioning in Newcastle may come with a simple filter. But does it cover all of your needs for indoor air quality? Every AC filter is not created equal. With its smaller surface area, a primary fibreglass filter lets in more airflow. Still, it isn't as effective at trapping particles as a MERV 12 media filter. Certain high-efficiency filters can collect minute dust particles, pollen, smoke, and, in certain cases, bacteria and viruses.
6. How Loudness Impacts Your Health
It's possible that you won't consider noise level while purchasing an AC. That being said, it's a crucial factor. Excessive background noise might be annoying all the time. An air conditioner should produce less than 50 dB of noise. In contrast, there's a whisper regarding 20 dB, an alarm clock is 60 dB, and an ambulance siren is 120 dB.
7. With Inverter Technology, You Can Save
A conventional compressor operates at maximum power or is switched off. Systems with two stages can operate at high or low levels. However, an AC compressor powered by an inverter can operate at incremental speeds to precisely match demand. It can save you up to 50% on energy costs compared to an all-or-nothing system because it may only need to run at 40%, 60%, or 80% of maximum capacity at any moment.
Conclusion
To guarantee maximum comfort, effectiveness, and long-term happiness when considering installing an air conditioner, a few crucial elements need to be considered. To begin with, it is essential to determine the right unit size and capacity depending on your space needs and local temperature to prevent energy waste and insufficient cooling. Furthermore, choosing an energy-efficient model helps protect the environment and lowers utility costs. Long-term dependability and performance lifespan can be ensured by prioritising reliable brands and using experts for installation services. Furthermore, you may improve ease and control over the temperature within your home by looking at features like intelligent technology integration and programmable thermostats.
Making intelligent investment selections can be aided by considering the initial expenses and possible long-term savings through energy efficiency. Finally, you can protect your investment and guarantee continuous comfort by being aware of warranty coverage and maintenance needs. By carefully assessing these factors, you can go into your AC installation process with the information to make decisions customized to your needs and preferences.

Heat Pump, Part 1 | Installing a Daikin VRV Life Multi-Zone Heat Pump
When we bought the house, it came with unbelievable energy bills: $300-400 electric bills in the height of summer, $300-400 gas bills in the height of winter.
As we got to know the house, we realized it had four separate HVAC systems, the majority of which were mid-grade AC with natural gas furnaces. With the house renovated several times over its life to expand it, these were all done piecemeal, without any regard for energy efficiency.
The front house had 6.5 tons of cooling and 180k BTU of heating across three units - way too much for the approximately two thousand square feet!
The master bedroom had a 15 year old unit with mold present on it and the guest & den's unit was a decade old with some of the duct work chewed through by mice.
I had lived in an apartment building with Daikin heat pump system and experienced $20-30 cooling and heating bills in the peak of summer and winter — something that was unheard of growing up in Atlanta!
With two of the three front units in need of replacement, and as I read more about heat pumps and passive house, I convinced the family to make the leap.
We got quotes from two contractors to install a multi-zone Daikin VRV Life heat pump. In this new system, we'd have one condenser running all of the loads for the front house zones.
After much back and forth, we landed on this:
We had issues with the kitchen being too hot in the summer, so we broke the prior 3-ton unit into two different zones. We added a furnace to make sure we could "keep up" when it got bitterly cold, although looking back on it I'm not sure that we needed such a large one.
The three outdoor units totaling 6.5 tons now turned into one five-ton unit, the below Daikin VRV Life:
The guest and master bedroom 1.5 ton systems air handlers were well installed by our mechanical contractor on the existing ducting:
Here is the newly split up kitchen + dining room and living room units.
Huge shout out to our mechanical contractor Comfort Zone Heating & Cooling. Travis and Eugene did an amazing job with the install and we're thankful for their persistence in getting us up and running! They'll be our mechanical contractor for the renovation going forward.
The rear house still has a 2-ton AC with a 60k BTU furnace that we'll be replacing as a part of the renovation.
The first year with the system showed dramatic energy usage reduction versus the prior year. Note that this is electrical + natural gas (converted from therms to kWh).
As you can see, in the winter we peaked at about 13,000 kWh prior, and averaged 11,000 kWh December to Feb. Now, we were down to around 6000 kWh down about 45-50%. Summer usage has been consistently 15-30% less than before.
While we've seen savings in our electricity in the summer, this hasn't translated to "real" savings overall year-over-year since natural gas prices spiked in 2022. That said, it would have cost a lot more to heat and cool on the prior system at these higher prices.
Here is our Daikin One app, which gives us easy control over the zones:
Looking back at this, I do have a couple of things I would have done differently:
First, on an old house I would slow down and do an energy audit first. It's really important to understand what you're starting with. In our house, basic air sealing and looking at our insulation would have helped tremendously with reducing the heating and cooling loads. We ended up doing this after, which was a bit out of order.
Second, our sizing (Manual J) for this project was done by the mechanical contractor instead of a mechanical designer. They did the best they could, but since those reports are only as good as its inputs, the loads were artificially high, especially around our heating.
Live and learn!

Saudi Arabia Residential AC Market To Reach $917.8 Million by 2030
The total size of the Saudi Arabian residential AC market was $521.6 million in 2021, and it will reach $917.8 million by 2030, propelling at a rate of 6.5% by the end of this decade. The key drivers of the industry are the growing heat and humidity in the atmosphere, the increasing usable income, the altering lifestyles, and the surging investment in the housing industry.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia is one of the fastest-growing economies globally. The noticeable increase in the national income of Saudi Arabia in the past has resulted in a snowballing building count, which, in sequence, drives the requirement for ACs.
Split ACs had the largest share, of approximately 59%. These can offer heating and cooling to offices and homes, and therefore, they are favored over window ACs. As a single outdoor system is able to control split ACs, multiple indoor units, are accomplished to offer even cooling through the home. This also means that split air conditioners can offer momentous savings for larger home cooling projects.
Furthermore, split ACs are mounted high and designed for cooling bigger spaces, and additionally, it is possible to become split ACs of a high tonnage, of above 2 tons.
Furthermore, split systems can deliver both cooling and heating and are renowned for their uniform circulation of cold and hot air when suitably controlled via thermostat.
The snowballing humidity and heat in the environment of the nation have led ACs a necessity product from being a luxury. A substantial surge in the maximum and minimum temperature of the nation is being observed, and the temperatures will rise openly in the near future if workable measures are not applied. This scorching temperature can influence the well-being and health of people.
The e-commerce category had the largest share of revenue, of over 50% in the Saudi Arabian residential AC market. This offers products at comparatively lower prices, making it a good option for buying ACs online.
The suitability of doorstep delivery, electronic payment, extensive product lists with their technical specifications and features in detail, and the obtainability of a variety of discounts and promotional offers bring about the acceptance of online shopping.
Furthermore, online stores do not have constraints of space and a variety of products can be put on websites. It helps logical buyers buy a product after a good search. Also, marketers and e-retailers bid discounts to customers, as they have reduced on property and other costs.
Western region had the largest share of revenue in the recent past and the requirement for ACs will grow at a rate of approximately 6% in the coming years. The increasing expansion of housing units makes it the largest stakeholder amongst all the regions.
Due to the increasing heat and humidity, the demand for ACs in Saudi Arabia will increase significantly.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is an extremely common condition that can affect any of your joints. When you have OA, it’s not unusual to experience pain and stiffness in your knees. Some people with arthritis have found that a knee brace can help.
A knee brace can help with arthritis pain and stiffness by providing support to the joint as you walk. A brace may also give you more confidence in your stability as you complete your daily activities.
Many knee braces are available, but not all of them will work well for arthritis. We did the work of narrowing down which knee braces work best for arthritis. Read on to find out which one might be a good fit for you.
All knee braces basically serve the same function. Their job is to help the tendons and ligaments in your leg stabilize your knee joint. Most braces stabilize by compression or through straps that tighten around your knee. When your joint is stabilized, it may minimize the pain you feel as you go about your day.
In a 2017 study of people with osteoarthritis, participants who wore a soft knee brace had lower pain levels while walking and took less time to complete a 10-kilometer walk. In that same study, a tight brace was found to help reduce walking time even more for study participants.
For people with rheumatoid arthritis, some rheumatologists prescribe medical-grade braces as a first-line treatment for pain in the knee.
Even if you don’t have a prescription for this type of medical device, you can get one:
over the counter at pharmacies
at some medical supply stores
at sporting goods stores
online
We selected the knee braces on this list based on the following criteria:
Verified customer reviews. We read through hundreds of customer reviews to get a feel for what people love about these products, as well as red flags to look out for.
Peer-reviewed literature. Dozens of published, peer-reviewed studies have investigated whether or not knee braces actually work to help with arthritis pain and other symptoms. We used these studies to figure out what was most important in a knee brace for arthritis.
Materials and construction. We looked for products that were durable and, wherever possible, washable so that they’ll last you a long time. Brand reputation and customer service policies were also key factors.
Pricing guide
$ = under $30
$$ = $30–$50
$$$ = over $50
Best knee brace for runners with arthritis
ACE Adjustable Knee Brace with Side Stabilizers
What we liked: Running puts a lot of stress on your knee, even if you don’t have arthritis. This brace is supportive enough to hold your knee joint in place while you move, but it’s also adjustable for comfort with three Velcro straps. Reviewers say that the material has just the right amount of rigidity to provide support without becoming uncomfortable.
Side-stabilizers are a unique feature. They hold all the parts of your knee joint in place, even when you’re exercising. As a bonus, the brace can be hand washed, so it won’t get too stinky even if you exercise with it regularly.
What to know: Some customers noted that the Velcro on this product’s adjustable straps does wear out over time. While this brace is pretty durable and should last you a while, don’t expect it to last forever.
Best knee compression sleeve for arthritis
PowerLix Knee Brace
What we liked: Compression sleeve-style knee braces are great for giving your knee support without limiting mobility. This brace gets high marks from reviewers for breathability and ease of use. It’s highly recommended for sports like basketball and for working out.
Customers say it’s easy to put on and moisture-wicking, so it doesn’t slip around even if you get sweaty. Two strips of silicone on both ends of the brace keep it from rolling up and moving around on your knee.
What to know: To get the right compression level, it’s essential that you choose the correct size when you purchase this brace. Check out the sizing guide on the product page, and read reviews to make sure you get the sizing just right.
Best hinged knee brace for arthritis
Vive Hinged Knee Brace
What we liked: If you’re recovering from an injury and have arthritis pain, too, an orthopedist or physical therapist may recommend a brace with hinges. The hinges limit medial and lateral movement of the knee, providing a more stable environment for the knee to heal in.
This hinged brace allows you to remove the hinges when you need less stabilization, and add them back on days when you need heavy-duty support. The open patella design leaves space for your patella, or kneecap, to breathe. The brace also has adjustable Velcro straps and comes in three different colors.
What to know: A common complaint among reviewers is that this brace is a bit bulky, and some people report itching after a full day of wear. As with many products that use Velcro straps, you may need to replace the Velcro on your own at some point if you want the brace to last.
Best knee brace for people with more weight
KARM Adjustable Knee Brace
What we liked: This brace has a ton of stability built in, is made from moisture-wicking material, and will fit the needs of a wide range of knee widths and body types. The Velcro straps are extra long, and the open-face patella design protects the joint without smashing down your kneecap. There’s also a bit of extra padding around the kneecap area to support your joint when you kneel down.
What to know: With side stabilizers and extra padding, this brace doesn’t allow for a lot of movement. Wearing it to walk and do household chores is fine, but you might find it to be too restrictive for sports and other activities.
Best budget-friendly knee brace for arthritis
MODVEL 2 Pack Knee Compression Sleeve
What we liked: These compression sleeve-style knee braces improve knee stability and fit snugly over your kneecaps, according to over 25,000 reviewers. If you have arthritis in both knees, this two-pack is an affordable solution that allows you to wear a brace on both legs for a very low price.
What to know: While most reviewers say that the sleeve fits well, it does seem like after a few hours the material becomes a bit uncomfortable. You may also have to be careful of fit and sizing, or you may end up with bunching and chafing in the back of your knee.
Best knee brace for arthritis for post-workout recovery
Vive Knee Ice Pack Wrap
What we liked: This brace is unique in that it offers you the option of hot or cold therapy while your knee is stabilized. If your joints frequently feel warm or inflamed after a workout, popping this brace on may help soothe the pain and boost your recovery.
It’s also fully adjustable and designed to wrap around your entire knee comfortably. Gel packs can be chilled in the freezer or heated in the microwave, according to your preference. It’s even latex-free and machine-washable.
What to know: While this brace might be the most soothing on our list, it’s not the most supportive. This brace is best used when you’re in a reclining or relaxed position. You may also want to consider getting extra gel packs if you’re using this brace frequently.
Best knee brace for athletes with arthritis
Bauerfeind Sports Knee Support
What we liked: The Bauerfeind Sports Knee Support is significantly more expensive than the other braces on this list. But that’s for good reason: many customers say that it offers the same level of support as many stabilizing braces, without the bulkiness. It’s also breathable and easy to move in, which you might not find in other knee compression sleeves.
Reviewers who like this brace say that it’s comparable to medical-grade compression options, and at a third of the price. It’s also made in Germany with durable, medical-grade materials, which is a plus.
What to know: Some people find the striated fabric of this compression brace to be a little too abrasive for their skin. Chafing has been reported by some customers, especially after wearing the brace for hours at a time or during sweat-heavy activities.
Best knee brace for arthritis pain relief
Shock Doctor Ultra Knee Support with Bilateral Hinges
What we liked: This breathable, padded design works well if you need to stand for long hours at work. It’s durable enough to withstand heavier-duty activity, but also gives you a ton of stability for when your arthritis pain is flaring up. The support of the hinges is meant to prevent you from hyperextending your knee and injuring it further. The compression can feel soothing on days when your knee really needs a break.
What to know: This brace is on the pricier side, and the hinge system may not work well for everyone’s needs. Sizing can be tricky with this product, so make sure to read through the instructions and reviews on the product page. Also keep in mind that there are no tightening straps, so you’ve got to pull the brace on. This makes correct sizing all the more important.
