I miss the lands a province away. Where I can see wolves, beavers, bison and bears. I feel alive here. No one tells me what to do, no one tells me I am too honest, no one tells me just having enough is not fine and; I need to consume more and more. Let me be myself for it has taken years to get here.#horseshoelake#jasper#alberta#beaverdam#solitude#contactprint#alternativephotoprocess#analogqueenindigitalhell#susanhuberphotography

Funny Moments
I’ve had a couple of funny moments this week worth sharing if you need a giggle at my expense!
The first was during a visit to Horseshoe Lake in Yateley. I had taken one of the lovely siblings I support as their Easter outing request. Often the siblings that I support don’t get the opportunity to get out and do activities during school holidays because their parents are busy caring for their poorly brothers and sisters, attending hospital appointments etc. Part of my role as a Child and Youth Support worker means I can give them the opportunity to choose an activity that we can have fun doing together.
The activity of choice was to go on the pedalos on a local lake. The very kind and informative gentleman at the watersports centre warned us that the pedalos are very difficult to steer and that it was very windy so we might have trouble getting back to the dock at the end of our half hour. I asked if there was anything else we could do instead and he suggested a two seater kayak. However, he said we would get wet on the kayak (and stay drier on the pedalo) which I took to mean that we might fall in, so decided to stick with the pedalos!
We had to put on lifejackets and whilst the man helped my younger companion with her lifejacket, he gave me mine and said it needed to go on over my head. I was already feeling a little anxious at this point because, let’s just say, God was very generous with the size of my upper appendiges, and I was concerned the jacket wouldn’t go over them! So, on went the jacket...well “half on” went the jacket and subsequently got stuck on my “upper appendiges” with my head inside unable to see a thing. My muffled voice called out rather embarrasingly to the man “Help, my boobs are too big, I’m stuck”. Thankfully, I had the back of the jacket caught up which was why I couldnt get it down and once this had been pulled out, it went on fairly easily! Phew!
Next step was to get across the geese poo covered dock and into the pedalo. I didn’t mange this anywhere near as gracefully as my younger companion but I at least managed to get in without ending up in the water! So, all we had to do then was have a lovely time pedalling around the lake.....hmmmmm....the man was not exaggerating when he warned us about the steering and the wind and our half hour on the lake went something like this....
10 minutes trying to get away from the side (we kept getting blown back into the dock and boats)
5 minutes pedalling half way across the lake (not in a straight line!)
2 minute break from the pedalling to take some selfies which then caused us to be blown further into the middle of the lake
8 minutes pedalling like crazy to try and get back to the dock so we didn’t end up right over the other side of the lake unable to get back
5 minutes hanging onto the side of the dock, for fear of being blown back into the middle of the lake and unable to get back, until someone rescued us
Once back at the reception to collect our bag, the gentleman who had helped us earlier commented that we hadn’t gone very far! At this point, I will admit to wanting to sock him one as it felt like we had pedalled a very long way despite not actually getting very far! However, he then, very kindly, offered us a refund. I couldn’t work out if this was because
he saw from my uniform and ID card that I worked for a charity
we were useless on the pedalos
it was windy
my boobs were too big for the jacket
i cant get myself dressed
a mixture of all of the above!
In any case, it was a very kind gesture and meant that we could then go onto the driving range and sock a few balls and have a snack and a drink!
That’s story 1, story 2 is much shorter but just as funny. I used messenger on Friday morning to ask the Lavender farm if they were open and if they sold plants...unfortunately I made a typo.....
This kept me chuckling for a while! Laughter is good for the soul so keep on giggling.
It’s Easter Sunday today and as I believe Jesus has a sense of humour I’ll leave you with this....

Another photo from my wheelchair ride around Horseshoe Lake. There were a few tricky moments trying to get my electric wheelchair through some kissing gates, but it was totally worth it. It was lovely to see some wildlife and just enjoy the peace and quiet around the lake. Unfortunately it’s not the easiest thing to do going for country walks when you’re in a wheelchair, especially if it’s been raining and it’s muddy. But I’m always on the lookout for accessible walks I can do in my wheelchair, as I really miss being able to get out and about in the countryside . . . . #lake #horseshoelake #nature #naturewalk #countryside #wheelchair #wheelchairwalks #electricwheelchair #accessiblewalks #accessible #spoonie #spoonielife #spoonieproblems #eds #ehlersdanlos #ehlersdanlossyndrome #pots #dysautonomia #chronicillness

Came across these happy cows trying to get to horseshoe lake. I didn't mean to bother them so I took off when they seemed to be getting upset. #dronelife #dronevideo #Arizona #horseshoelake #cattle #roundemup #tontonationalforest #farming (at Horseshoe Lake, Arizona) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPYpPIvHtzK/?utm_medium=tumblr

My Taco Trot 5K was a success! I can't wait to do this again! The cold weather was definitely worth it for the tacos. And the medal I got is so cute!

The best thing about owning a cottage is early morning kayaking. Nothing on earth begins to compare to the early morning serenity and the sense of connecting to nature.
