So I’m currently brainstorming for my cult horror novel and would like to take some ideas and suggestions!
So far, it certainly will include:
a classic summer camp horror setting
summer camp run by a cult that bases themself off of fertility and success
multiple queer relationships
I would like to hear some more ideas about what readers in general would like more of! I would love to be able to write some new ideas into the plots and make the world of this novel much more fleshed out (pun intended).
What kinds of representation, tropes, dynamics, plots, etc would you guys like to see?

tbh I'm really glad people are liking Renard and Zephyr's story. Or like, are enjoying Zephyr specifically. I was a bit worried he'd be a sore spot for a lot of people bc man. It's hard to make a character who within the first few paragraphs, calls himself an influencer and openly states that he doesn't care about misogyny in his workplace because it benefits him seem likable. Like. it's extremely explicit that he joined the US army and spreads disinformation on purpose bc he's paid to and doesn't care who he hurts while doing so.
Like, that's our protagonist for this lil adventure, he sucks in an extremely normal and real way that's not fun or interesting. He's just an asshole.
And I had to manage to make him a compelling protagonist without downplaying any of that because the story is about him getting comeuppance for being that specific brand of cunt wad.
I'm just glad it worked out and he can still carry his weight in the text.

Once again, I find myself wondering how many Ascended!Astarion fans who claim they like the “dark romance” aspect of the relationship actually read dark romances.
(Because Romanced!Tavs relationship with Ascended!Astarion doesn’t even really fall under dark romance as far as I’m aware.)
If you do, please tell me what dark romances (titles/authors) you are reading because I feel like I’m missing something.

I just got back from Alien: Romulus and can I just scream a little about how much I fucking LOVE the Alien universe??? Oh my GOD.
This one felt like such a classic Alien movie and like, was it perfect? No. But my god it nailed the aesthetic and it was arguably one of the scariest Alien movies in the whole series. It genuinely felt like a horror movie and I absolutely loved it.
God, I mean... the tech that feels both futuristic and dated at the same time? The dirty grimy metal mixed with the soft white sterility of the spaceships? Dusty screens with orange lights and blocky text? The weapons and tools that are straight out of a video game? (And holy hell did this ever take inspiration from Alien: Isolation like W O W) The absolutely disgusting body horror? Specifically the PREGNANCY body horror?? The androids oh my goddddd the androids? The empty quiet of space? The cold, profiteering evil of Weyland-Yutani? Acid for blood? Phallic aliens?? VAGINA ALIENS???
I simply could not ask for more lol.

someone doing a desktop simulator horror game throwback to the early 2000s needs to stop using Windows 98 or XP or whatever and pull out the real horror and use this baby as the OS as the basis for their digital horror game
Tumblr media
the real ones out there who suffered the Millennium Edition know full well, you'll spend half your time trying to figure out if it's a demon possessing your computer of if it's just Windows ME being period accurate with its jank.
*This* is the OS you need to use for your Desktop Simulator Horror Game. It was already setup for a Desktop Horror Simulation out of the box. Please trust me, all aspiring game developers working on an early 2000s Digital Horror Game. Put Windows Millennium Edition in there. It was *made* for this.
Because it was definitely *not* made to run computers, that's for damned sure.

Season 5 seems to be moving in the vain of thriller horror which is really fun but I think they should throw in some surrealist horror. As a treat. Just for me 🤲🏻
