I can’t find the post now (or was it a comment?) where someone talked about how in the Horror Of Dracula (1958) Dracula’s trying to replace his dead bride. He first goes the revenge route by pursuing the girlfriend of the hunter who staked his bride, and then wife of the man who helped off his replacement bride. In the climax of the film, Dracula tried to turn Van Helsing.
This is important to note as the turned vampire hunter from earlier was treated hostilely and abandoned - not to mention turned by the original bride. Considering Dracula had been keeping tabs on things, he’d have to know about Van Helsing’s role in things, and yet, when he attempted to turn him, it didn’t seem to be in anger.
He went from survival mode to, “huh, wait a minute, maybe it’s time for a husband.”
