Euphorbia horrida var nova. The Latin specific epithet horrida means "with many prickles". While it looks like a cactus, it is not at all related to the cacti and is a wonderful example of convergent evolution. I love the way the new bright green growth contrasts with the silvery gray old growth and accentuates the star like shape.

I'm trying to go with a Malay / Singapore inspiration for this fakémon line. Its evolution is Marsinga, the merlion fakémon. If any Singaporean or Malay peeps have any input they'd like to add, I'd be more than happy to listen!
Geodempu
the Stone Scorpion Pokémon.
Poison / Rock
Ability: Water absorb | HA: Poison Point
x̄ Length: 45 cm | Weight: 6.3 kg
"Many travellers mistake Geodempu for Geodude. Aside from inhabiting coastal environments, Geodumpu can be differentiated by the fast acting Poison injected upon contact."

Euphorbia polygona
The traditional name for this plant is Euphorbia horrida var. major, and this is how one would normally find it labeled in a collection. Recently, however, all the plants that had been regarded as varieties of Euphorbia horrida have been merged into E. polygona. This makes sense, since the dividing line between the two species has always been problematic, but it is still annoying to collectors who wish names would stay the same. Flowers in Euphorbia arise from the middle of a structure called a cyathium, with five petal-like glands in a ring around the outside (in the photo, the glands are rust-orange, but they could also be dark purple or green in other forms of E. polygona). Each cyathium is located atop a stalk (peduncle) that later dries and hardens to form a spine. From South Africa.

A gorgeous adult Reduvius personatus I collected recently.

A few adult Zelus luridus spotted locally.

And, my absolute favorite, a male adult Arilus cristatus I collected while passing through Virginia. What's your favorite assassin bug?
What an excellent collection of assassin bugs! Wheel bugs are definitely in my top five just because I love their shape. Not sure I could choose a favorite but I'm a big fan of ambush bugs and kissing bugs, despite the latter being vectors for disease. Also thread-legged bugs in Emesinae!

Custom Job: Centurion
Marcia is a custom job called Centurion. It uses a Garlean gunblade MH and knuckles off hand (stat distribution like pld sword and board).
It’s a dex melee/“scouting” job with quick combos and moderate flank positionals. It lags behind on dps, but brings critical party buffs - think melee DNC.

“It isn’t often people are happy to see me, but I suppose you’re not here to socialize. “
“My people have always needed an edge over you all who can use aether. They’re secret arts, but you brought joy to my best friend, so I can make an exception.”
“That expression is more what I’m used to.”
“If you can accept training from Zenos’ soulmate, I’ll teach you the techniques of the Centurion.”
“This won’t be as flashy as magic, but trust me, your companions will notice you regardless.”

I assume the species’ common name was directly translated from its Latin name, necator, meaning “killer” or “murderer.” Latin names like “terribilis” or “atrox” or “diabolicus” are pretty common in taxonomy, thanks to all the old guys in the 1800s either getting too creative, utterly lacking originality, or being highly opinionated while describing all their bugs. but when they get translated into English common names the results are always utterly hilarious:
I think one of my favourite jumping spiders is Opisthoncus necator just because its common name is just “The Murderer” for some reason, so if I ever go to look at it on iNat, I am greeted with this very accusatory title and what is essentially its mug shot

Agave horrida subsp. perotensis
This agave comes from near Perote in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. It has been classified as a subspecies of Agave horrida, from north of Cuernavaca, Morelos, but its teeth are less extreme than those seen in typical A. horrida. Our plant has grown larger than usual, and its flower stalk is an amazing 25 1/2 feet tall (7.8 m). As usual with this species, there are no offsets, so this is its swan song.
