personality: first off, I will mention things that are canon to the game's MC from the way we have to act to follow a certain story, and what the characters say about us as we go through the route. And afterwards, I will add on my own things.

Although the personality of the MC of Obey Me is supposed to be designed and changed to the players liking, there are some attributes to her that are canon to the game. So while creating her, I tried to stick to canon as much as possible.

As the characters describe, Yuki is a happy-go-lucky person (said Solomon) who is nosy and often gets into situations that do not involve her for the sake of helping. An example for that is how she insisted on helping out belphagor even though Lucifer told her countless times that it doesn't involve her and for her to mind her own business.

Lucifer said; Yuki is the type of girl who has trouble lying. Mammon said that MC "may seem like someone who's really got it together", but has a "boneheaded streak", and that they can be "weak, and super reckless...and too damn gutsy". The recklessness is later confirmed, as they frequently choose to head toward danger rather than away from it.

Yuki is implied to be good at card games, since there is an option to let belphagor win as they play card games. Belphagor calls them out on it saying they downplayed it for his sake. Simeon says that their greatest strength is being flexible and being able to adapt to almost any situation. Beelzebub mentions that Yuki always keeps her room clean.

Barbatos says that how quickly she let's her guard down and trusts people is her biggest weakness and greatest attribute at the same time. MC, Yuki, is seen as a peacemaker. She is often the one who helps the characters patch up their relationships when something bad happens between them. She is always eager to help, very soft hearted, and is adored by all the characters in little to no time. When she goes back to the human world, everyone mentions how boring it is without her. even the prince of hell diavolo says that his productivity has gone down without her around. She radiates happiness and energy wherever she goes. She makes people feel at ease.

Now this is the part I add my own things; Yuki is the type of girl to have a horrendous life but always manages to act happy and make others happy. She is a huge people pleaser. She feels at ease when she makes someone else feel content. Which actually, can be canon in the game as well since MC does run to whoever has a problem and immediately makes it her duty to fix it.

So basically, I added almost nothing to her except for what's seen in the game about her. Just that she has a dark history.

backstory: her backstory and honestly her whole personality is inspired by the song G**sy bard And fire drill. And yes, she is an ENFP.

Have you realized how MC in obey me seems to not have a life of her own? She is completely content with living for a whole year in hell, And spending her time with the demon brothers when they came to the living world.

That's because there is no one she is concerned about. Nothing to spend her time doing. No one that cares about her. No proper life for her to return to. she lived in a small city in Japan with her mom and dad in her younger years, but the city was burnt down, and she was one of the survivors who barely made it out alive. She was taken to an orphanage and was raised there until she was 18. She was seen as a brilliant girl who had very high emotional intelligence, but was also very interested in science and physics. She was a curious girl, and was loved by the workers. But she was a little different. Maybe it was how energetic and friendly she was that threw the other sad and upset kids off. Maybe it was how she was not concerned with fitting in. She was seen as a weirdo by most, but had a few friends in there. By the time she was 18, she was out of the orphanage. From that point on, she was not sure what to do with her life. The savings she made with working part time jobs in the orphanage had helped her get a small apartment, and from that on, she had been working as a cashier, since she can't afford higher education.

When she was sent to hell for the student exchange program, she was actually happy. An opportunity to make new friends, to see what it's like there, to actually go to collage there. Which is why she was so upset to know that she would be leaving. But Solomon helped her visit them again. And after that, the demons came to visit her.

Powers: the MC is a very, very powerful person. She is a human, yes, but it's found out that she is a descendant of Lilith, one of the angels in heaven and the little sister of the seven sins. Lilith died in the great celestial war, but with the demon prince diavolos power, she was reborn as a human in the world and lived her life without knowing about her past, but her memories came back once she died. From then on, she kept her eye on her brothers, and by the time Yuki was born, something inside her could tell her that she will be the one who will change everything and help her brothers.

She is the reason Yuki was chosen for the exchange program. Lucifer was overwhelmed with all the people he could choose. A gust of wind that Lilith created from the open window made yuki's paper land at his feet. And that's how she was chosen.

Within time, Yuki managed to make a pact with all seven sins. Having a pact with them means that Yuki can control them to her liking. The search about her power began when she managed to stop all the demon brothers by yelling "stay" as they were arguing. Which caused all of the sins to stop. afterwards, when she was asked if she was alright after doing that, Yuki said that she felt totally normal, no pain whatsoever. This came as a shock to Solomon, the other human exchange student, because he is a very powerful sorcerer, and even he felt physical pain when he controlled middle class demons. The fact that MC controlled all seven demons at once with no aches at all made Solomon dig deep down. He learned that she owns a huge amount of power that she can't seem to control, and does not even know the depth of. So much so that this power caused natural disasters in all three worlds. It was found out later that MCs power was so unstable, the energy it radiated was so powerful that it caused earthquakes, lakes drying up, hurricanes, all over heaven, hell, and human world. She ended up having to wear the ring of light to subdue it. The ring of light belonged to Lucifer before he was casted out of heaven.

Right now, Yuki is a novice sorcerer, a student of Solomon. But Solomon often mentions that Yuki will very soon surpass him. She is able to perform teleporting magic, floating magic, healing magic, wind magic, fire magic with ease. I am at lesson 60 at the moment so this is as far as I know. This will possibly be updated as I finish all the 80 lessons. Then I'll have to start obey me, night bringer.

mc has a dendro vision. she's a sword user. my explanation for this is the whole "rosa" thing, i just think itd be SOOOO cool for her element to let her summon huge thorns at will.

sword because of the whole "lady themis wields a sword" thing. plus, the sword is the most adaptable of the weapon types, imo, and also it's the Main Character Weapon.

she should be in genshin because if she was, her outfit would be AMAZINGLY PRETTY. red and beige dress type of deal, intersection of beauty and ferocity

luke has a pyro vision and he's a claymore user. luke is one of the most fire coded motherfuckers ive ever seen in my life. aside from his red eyes (WROW!!) hes also sunshine coded and the closest thing to sunshine in the vision elements is pyro

originally i had luke pegged as a sword user too but then i realize hes got the strength to lug around a claymore. luke's waist may be snatched but he's bringing down that claymore HARD, just like diluc and his snatched waist.

he should be in genshin because i love claymore users with a passion. speed? i just wanna mine, bro.

hes a polearm user because he keeps people at polearm's length, JUST KIDDING. i chose this for him because Speed. marius is a speedy boy for me swish, swish, swish, his attack style would be relentlessly quick.

vyn has a hydro vision and hes a bow user. hydro because vyn is like....so smooth, lol. also remember that one card where he fucked up mc's pipes and got soaking wet? he should be wet more often. this is our chance to Make Vyn Get Wet.

bow user because in canon it's already his weapon of choice, so i just went with it. will take shots at cranes flying midair just to show off. hes the reason why the team has fowl to last them for a decade.

Tbf Xiao has made some progress. Just a tiny inch of progress (ie: saying he'll try to rely/ hang out with heroes more.) I still feel his character arc has moved forwards, which I really appreciate, especially considering how strong some of his moments were.

Like he thinks that as someone destined for misery, self sacrifice is a good ending, bc he's so down in the dumps that actually having a good life is impossible in his mind.

By the end though, he's open to the thought of companionship, which might evolve into something he finds joy and comfort in. Maybe thru the power of friendship, he can find the motivation to have hope in the future. That's how i expect the trajectory of his arc to go at least.

Anyway, for the honour of having some very strong emotional punches in his quests, an angsty backstory and a lot of potential moving forward, Xiao officially joins kaeya, tarts, itto and venti in my heart as "the goodest genshin characters." I just wish there were some women there, too...

I also hope itto gets fed this well whenever its his turn in the spotlight again. And Venti. I dont count irodori or this event as Itto or Venti's true to real reruns bc their narratives are still where they were stuck in act one. Kinda like how xiao was in lantern right 2022 but not rly.

I... kind of wonder about Xiao’s progress in the context of the actual story being told about him here, though. The main recurring issue in this chapter was Xiao’s casual willingness to throw his life away to protect others and his lack of consideration for himself - that’s what the conflict with Yelan was about, and Yanfei’s later criticisms/the first part of the conversation with the Traveler are built on it. I’d actually squinted at the sudden “spend time with people that make you happy!”/teamwork moral as HYV clumsily trying to avoid the subject -  especially since Ushi’s advice/Paimon’s speech at the end is a direct response to Xiao warning the group to stay away from him because of his karma and was kind of a change of subject from Xiao’s frank discussion about his mental illness.

I just really hope HYV aren’t missing the forest for the trees, when the reason he keeps people away is so that he can more effectively throw himself on the sword for them. Because he IS lonely, and he SHOULD spend more time with others, but that was not the aspect of his character this event was focusing on, so it felt like a very sudden copout - thus why I felt no progress was made in regards to the issues given attention during Act III. Because that. That was just. 

“Hey Xiao, you know glorifying heroic deaths is bad and you shouldn’t want that for yourself, right?”

“Yep.”

“Okay. Just checking. Anyway, about avoiding people because of your karma...”

I guess we’ll see if Xiao decides to be proactive at all. I do basically think that’s going to be Xiao’s arc, yeah. At the moment it seems the only thing he wants for himself is to dance to Venti’s music... so I wonder if he’ll ever get the guts to go find Venti and ask. It’d be nice if he got more comfortable doing that. Maybe that’ll be how his arc ends. In 8 years. ......................aha. ha. 

BUT in general I do really like Xiao’s writing this time. Given how horrendously he’s been mishandled in events prior to this, he was really strong this time. Also, weren’t the people he’d come to consider heroes the yaksha he’d called slaughterers and those that died in the Chasm, following his realisations about Bosacius’ death changing how he felt about what happened...? I wonder if that line was mistranslated. Who are you going to rely on, Xiao, the dead...?

In general I do think this event marks a rather large improvement in Genshin’s writing. Xiao finally has Good Character Writing, but the writing around him is under heavy consideration For Now. Depends where it goes. We’ll see. 

anyway, it’s good to be a xiao main rn. god i just want to take him on a magical adventure around the world where he broadens his horizons and finds new things to care about beyond his duty. join my party, fucker

i’ve been trying to get back into writing but i don’t have the motivation to write a full length 5k oneshot on tumblr, i prefer to do those over on my AO3. it’s a shame that i’ve never once completed any of the fanfics i set out to write but i hope to start changing that.
