It's interesting to note that ERTL was the only Thomas & Friends merchandise line to do both 7101 and 199 from the untelevised RWS story Super Rescue. Hornby did 7101, while Wooden Railway and Take Along both did 199, but only ERTL did both diesels.

Steaming Success
What is it with model trains? I can go anywhere in the world and people of all ages and all cultures will stop and wonder at model trains whizzing by in a shop or a display in a heritage centre. I recently watched a big bloke in his model layout, at the Colne Valley Railway, slowly cleaning a long railway track with a tiny brush. The crowds of people pressing their noses on the glass were fascinated with the scene of this gentle giant engineer.
Perhaps it’s the steaming success of Thomas the Tank engine and chums with toddlers that makes children grow up to admire trains. For adults it can evolve into nostalgia and escapism from the manic Mondays of 21st century life. When I worked in a Toy Museum, the collectors I met reminisced: as children they could not afford to buy a Hornby or a Bassett-Lowke engine. When they became successful adults they hunted in auctions and jumble sales for these bits of tinplate.
There are many famous male celeb train collectors and landscape builders such as Rod Stewart, Neil Young and Jools Holland. According to another celeb maker Pete Waterman “Some of the best modellers in the UK, if not in Europe, are women now, and there are LGBT and transgender modellers (including Eddie Izzard)” he says. “You’d never have got that 25 years ago.” (Quote from the Guardian 23 March 2022 article by Dave Simpson). Perhaps the use of model trains and model landscapes is something to think about when heritage sites plan new displays?

Thomas & friends season 8
Thomas's on-screen appearances in the TV series were developed by Britt Allcroft. Main articles: Thomas & Friends and Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go He was a fussy little engine, always pulling coaches about. He had six small wheels, a short stumpy funnel, a short stumpy boiler and a short stumpy dome. ".a tank engine who lived at a Big Station. Thomas was described in the opening to "Thomas and Gordon", the first story in book number two, Thomas the Tank Engine, as: Thomas in The Railway Seriesĭespite becoming the most popular character in The Railway Series, Thomas did not feature in the first book, The Three Railway Engines. Reginald Dalby created the character, as he was responsible for illustrating books 3–11 and repainting the illustrations of books 1 and 2.Īlthough Thomas locomotives are seen today on various heritage railways, the locomotives are either unpowered decoys or converted from other locomotives, as all of the prototype LB&SCR E2 class locomotives were scrapped between 19. It had often been erroneously assumed that C. Payne was not credited for his illustrations at the time, and it is only since the publication of Brian Sibley's The Thomas the Tank Engine Man that he has started to receive major recognition. Thomas has always been shown with a curved front buffer beam in the television series. The accident, in Thomas Comes to Breakfast was partly devised as a means of correcting this. This was an illustrator's mistake that was perpetuated in subsequent books. Awdry was unsatisfied with one detail of the illustration - the fact that the front end of his footplate featured a downward slope, which meant that his front and back buffers were at different levels. Thomas as portrayed by Hornby and the TV series is based on one of six E2 class locomotives fitted with an extension to the front of the water tanks. This may have been chosen simply because Awdry had a photograph to hand. Awdry selected a real locomotive for Payne to work from to create authenticity: a Billinton designed 0-6-0 E2 Class of the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway. After Awdry's wife encouraged him to publish the stories, the publisher of the second book in The Railway Series, Thomas the Tank Engine, hired an illustrator named Reginald Payne.
Thomas wasn't originally based on a prototype rather, the initial stories were an accompaniment to the toy made for Christopher.
This engine looked rather different from the character in the books and television series, and carried the letters NW on its side tanks, which stood for "No Where" according to Awdry. When Awdry created Thomas, the engine existed only as a wooden toy made for his son Christopher. TV series and Hornby based Thomas on this prototype belonging to the LB&SCR E2 class The programme became an award-winning hit around the world, with a vast range of spinoff commercial products. In 1979, British writer/producer Britt Allcroft came across the books, and arranged a deal to bring the stories to life as the TV series Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends (later simplified to Thomas & Friends). Thomas's best friends are Percy and Toby, though he is also close friends with Edward. Thomas first appeared in 1946 in the second book in the series, Thomas the Tank Engine, and was the focus of the four short stories contained within. All of the vehicles in The Railway Series were based on prototypical engines Thomas's basis is the LB&SCR E2 class. Thomas is a blue steam engine and has a number 1 painted on his side. He became the most popular and famous character in the series, and is the titular protagonist in the accompanying television spin-off series Thomas & Friends. Thomas the Tank Engine is a British anthropomorphised fictional steam locomotive in The Railway Series books by Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher, published from 1945.

*Posting my Thomas drawings separately* This is what I like to call, Real Thomas. I drawn this one because I do like the E2 Class tank engine (with extended side tanks). So I thought I’ll make Thomas into his real counterpart. It’s like his Hornby model. I wasn’t sure about the face, so I went for a more CGI approach. Btw, if you were wonder what dose “NWR” stand for, it stands for: North Western Railway. #KareemEmotion #ThomasTheTankEngine #ThomasAndFriends #Thomas75 #E2Class #Hornby #HornbyThomas #Evolution #Childhood #Tribute #FanArt #AutisticArtist #Art #Uniqueart #Unique #Illistration #Drawing #Artist #Sketch #Artsy #Character #RailwaySeries (at Chesapeake, Virginia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAGPzz2B-bA/?igshid=156j6rl8aalcn

Basic Road Safety Rules
Street wellbeing is everybody's worry, however numerous individuals aren't even certain of what it implies. This straightforward expression covers a great deal of territories, all of which include remaining safe and being capable out and about. It applies to everybody who drives, cycles or even strolls and the thought is to keep everybody out of damage's way. Traffic Management Plans
With regards to street security, autos and trucks are by a wide margin the most hazardous thing out and about. The sheer weight and speed make them potential weapons when utilized recklessly and this has achieved many laws to help secure both those in the vehicles and those outside.
Drinking
Tanked driving causes more than 13,000 passings consistently, however a great many people still barely bat an eyelash at the prospect of having several lagers before taking off. Lamentably, regardless of whether you don't feel alcoholic, your reflexes are disabled and even a couple of moments contrast can cause passing when managing an engine vehicle.
While there are laws against drinking and driving, regardless it lies in the hands of the general population to stop this issue. In case you will go out celebrating, allocate an assigned driver or call a taxi to return home securely. What's more, don't let other people who have been drinking get into the driver's seat.
Beginner Drivers
New drivers are a high hazard classification. While everybody commits errors at times, a portion of those mistakes can be dangerous. In view of this, new laws have been passed in numerous states to enable new drivers to figure out how to drive securely. Expanded learning periods, least required driving occasions and requiring new drivers to be joined by a more seasoned driver are for the most part techniques for keeping the streets secure while youngsters gain proficiency with the ropes.
Sharpness
After you've been driving for some time, it's anything but difficult to get smug, particularly in the event that you are exceptionally acquainted with the course you're taking. Did you realize that most of mishaps occur inside a couple of minutes from home? Individuals know about their neighborhood, so they tend not to give as much consideration as they should, with disastrous outcomes.
Street security implies focusing and being alert. Stop totally at stop signs, focus on the lights and watch out for the unforeseen. It's additionally imperative to wear a safety belt and to tie kids into their vehicle seats, regardless of whether you're simply flying down the road for a minute. It just takes a second to everything to change and you need to be set up just as have roadside help assurance.
Motorbikes and Bicycles
Obviously, street security isn't just in the hands of the individuals who drive heavier vehicles. Motorbikes are especially risky to the rider due to the absence of assurance. While a motorbike may not do so much harm to a vehicle as another vehicle may, these kinds of mishaps have the most astounding rate of mortality. The wellbeing elements can be helped by utilizing suitable defensive apparatus, driving mindfully and keeping the bicycle fit as a fiddle. yellow safety vest NZ
Bikes can likewise influence street security. We've all observed cyclists who neglect to check behind them and swerve into traffic, or who evade between vehicles in a rush. This not just represents a risk to the cyclist, it can likewise cause an auto crash as somebody swerves to escape the way. Flushed cycling may sound interesting, but at the same time it's a colossal reason for passings in the US.
Street security is something we as a whole need to think about when out on the town. Be capable when you are all over the place, regardless of whether by walking or driving and fare thee well. Being protected is everybody's obligation.

Flaskless molding casting machines from this era offer a few important enticements
England Innovator Launches Dinky Die Cast At about the same time, die cast models were being introduced "on the other side of the pond," in Liverpool, England. There, in 1901, a clerk named Frank Hornby created a technology he called "Mechanics Made Easy" - which soon morphed into Meccano. The company's first successful products were 00 gauge model railway systems. But Hornby took railway cars and engines further, producing entire automatic molding machine scenes to create a railway station. There were workers, passengers, track, stations and other accessories that proved extremely popular. So popular that, by 1910 the sets were being exported all over the world and led to expansion of the company to France and Germany. By 1922, the Meccano opened a branch in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
It was in 1934 that Meccano adopted the name which it still bears today, "Meccano Dinky Toys." This came with the release of a set of die cast cars in the 1:43 scale. At a cost of 4 shillings, a youngster could own a sports car, a truck, delivery van, tractor or tank. Other models followed and the company grew more faithful to reproducing accurate detail in its model cars.
But, many Dinky die cast cars suffered from lack of quality in the metal used in casting during this prewar period. Consequently, models from this era in excellent condition are highly prized and sought after. In 1994, for example, a Dinky delivery van produced in 1937 sold at auction for $19,355. A post war 1952 Dinky Foden lorry fetched 12,000£ in 2003 - or about $19,560 at the 2003 exchange rate.
For many collectors, flaskless molding casting machines from this era offer a few important enticements. They are rare and, therefore, may be a decent investment. Secondly, they are brimming with nostalgia for another, perhaps simpler time and place. These Tootsies and Dinky cars are not modern reproductions of historic vehicles, but die cast models that survived the hands of children and the test of time.
In many cases, grinding ball production line will be enhanced after the Armoloy coating has been applied. The 72 Rc Armoloy surface resists sticking and material build up making for a cleaner die environment. Please keep this in mind when you consider Armoloy. In addition, this 72 Rc hardness will enhance the parting line edges, helping to reduce or eliminate flashing. Since the Armoloy coating will not peel, crack, or chip, the surface integrity of the Armoloy coating on the die surface is absolute.
