Hi! Your art has gotten me into SteamBat. I'm so behind on Monster High stuff, I wanted to ask; do they ever interact in canon? I honestly can't remember a whole lot about either of their pasts. If not, do you have an idea for their history and how everything went down?

If you dont wanna go watch it though I'll summarize:

Basically theres this magic vampire artifact called "The Vampire's Heart" its meant to reveal who the Vampire Queen is. The Vampire Court more or less fell apart about 400 years ago due to humans but also because the heart went missing and they couldnt claim a new queen.

Modern day Lord Stoker(current interim leader of the court until the queen is found) claims to have the Vampire's Heart as it reveals Draculaura to be the new queen. The twist is that this heart is a fake and Lord Stoker was hoping he could use Draculaura as a puppet leader while controlling everything himself in the shadows. Turns out tho that the True Queen was in fact Elissabat, his niece, who disappeared alongside the Court's falling apart, and the Vampire's Heart disappearing. Draculaura was actually friends with her back in the day and so the ghoul gang (made up of Draculaura, Cleo, Robecca, and Clawdeen) decide to go find her. They meet other ghouls along the way and the b plot is about this movie series called the Vampire's Majesty that Draculaura hates but is really popular generally. (Vaguely meant to be goofing off the irl Twilight team Edward vs team Jacob thing)

Throughout their journey trying to track down what happened 400 years ago and where Elissabat went, Robecca starts having these odd feelings. She never met Elissabat or had even heard of her til now but she feels this odd connection to her. Robecca's desire to find Elissabat is almost entirely removed from the goal of needing to find The Queen in order to save the court from Lord Stoker. By the end Robecca's weird connection to Elissabat becomes their guide, leading them to her.

In the movie when they finally find Elissabat it is revealed that the Heart was entrusted to Hexiciah Steam who used it to build his daughter Robecca. It now resides inside of her as a power source. (Therefore it spent at least 100 years laying in the catacombs before the ghouls found Robecca and pieced her back together)

The fact that Robecca's literal actual heart is intended to find Elissabat and to glow in her presence is kinda dropped after that. There's other plot stuff going on. Personally if it were me I'd take more time to explore Robecca's feelings on all this. The movie frames Elissabat as taking the throne back willingly cuz shes now ready but like... Part of the problem in finding her is that Elissabat didn't just run away as a means of staying safe from her power hungry uncle(who its implied killed her dad) but also because she doesnt Want to be the Queen.

She has dreams and Goals of her own. She's an actress!! Thanks to braces and lasik her physical appearance is quite different(plus i like to imagine she styled her hair differently, even if thats not canon to the movie) people don't really recognize her by the time film comes around. Her stage name is Veronica Von Vamp btw and she happens to be the star of that movie series Draculaura hates lmao. And its kinda just implied that she just does both now after all this with her identity just out in the open. I feel like itd kinda suck. So I like to imagine she's got a bit of a Hannah Montana situation going on with her identities. Obviously her friends and trusted court members would know, but otherwise she keeps the two lives separate in some way.

My take would either to have her be a small time actress, she works on indie films and stage shows primarily. Maybe the Vampire's Majesty was something she did more out of nostalgia and never expected it to get as big as it did. So after its over she keeps taking on smaller projects and less known stuff because acting is her true passion.

There's not really enough time to deal with her angst about becoming Queen to protect Draculaura/get rid of her Uncle and how that effects her life. But I do love to think about the fall out of that decision and how she copes, maybe Robecca helps her through that which leads them to developing a romantic relationship.

OK SO THERES A LOT GOING ON HERE !! first off i based these two (mostly) off the early au events, mostly cuz the ideas i had for their abilities are generally referencing that era, so i thought itd be fitting

okay i. i wanna explain all the references in these cuz i think its really neat..

i dont think vees active ability needs explaining lol but her passive is inspired by her whole plot of learning to let herself explore the world more (more specifically that one fic where she finds the guitar, its where the name comes from)

"space nerd" skin is referencing the outfit post and how shes, well, a space nerd. "anxious proposal" is referencing the fic where vee proposes, and "rain walk" is referencing, well, their walk in the rain from the very beginning. (ykw the skins are kinda self explanatory too lol)

this wasnt intentional when i was picking which outfits to use for the skins, but i think they also contribute to the general theme of vee coming out of her shell here- new interests she was never supposed to have, love she wasnt supposed to feel, and a world she was never supposed to experience for herself. idk i think its neat :]c fuck you delilah

okay shellys abilities are something im also rlly proud of- her active is based on the og post and how much of a spectacle shelly was, and then how everyone chilled tf out after a while

i also rlly wanted to emphasize how much of a team player she is, and how much she does for her friends. her active isnt rlly great for distracting- its main purpose is to pull twisteds off of someone if theyre about to die/lose health, and her passive is also mainly to help out her teammates.

her trinket is also from the fic where vee finds the guitar! i knew i wanted it to be a dino plushie of some sort (to emphasize the previous pint, but also to add in her love of sewing) and i eventually decided itd be fitting to make it the little pterodactyl she made for vee in that fic :]

"surprise party" skin is from the birthday fic, "mama's girl" is from the mothers day fic (fun fact i used that pose so i didnt have to design the sweater LOL), and "expert digger" is from the outfit post, again all pretty self explanetory

stuff i hate about the asoiaf fandom!!

1. certain characters stans;

In this fuckass fandom, theres like an unspoken rule that if you like one character, you have to hate every other character and harass their fans. This applies to EVERYONE!! It’s exhausting. Examples being the rivalry stans; Jaime and Cersei, Daenerys and Jon, Daenerys and Young Griff, and even Daenerys and Sansa, not to mention Arya and Sansa.

2. making their own plot

Many fans of Asoiaf series tend to create their own fanon story in their minds. Some of y’all portray your favorite characters as having no flaws and sometimes will purposefully mischaracterize or misunderstand ones you don’t like simply because they don’t like those characters stans. They will twist the CANON TEXT if someone says something they disagree with AND attempt to provoke reactions from stans of characters they dislike by intentionally making things up. YOU DO NOTTTT need to make things up to defend your favorite characters. Its genuinely unnecessary especially when your fav ALSO HAS FLAWS…

example;

jon snow fans bringing up daenerys killing that crazy ass lady who murdered her unborn child, and mischaracterizes her by saying it was “wrong” or “evil” but then daenerys stans saying jon went around murdering wildlings by torching them on fire who wanted to escape and saying he tortured his prisoners and enjoyed it but “nobody ever mentions it!!!” PROBABLY BECAUSE IT WASN’T ANYWHERE IN THE BOOK LMFAOO.????

3. show vs books

Both fandoms can be annoying as SHIT, but one thing that really bothers me (and probably everyone else) is the fact some fans cannot distinguish the show and book canons. FOR INSTANCE; when fans of Jaime defend him against Cersei fans who point out that he RAPED Cersei in front of their DEAD SON in the show, they often retaliate by mentioning she slept with their SIXTEEN YEAR OLD cousin, which only occurs in the BOOKS (lancel is like 22 in show canon) It's genuinely so irritating to see them pick and choose which canon to defend their favorite characters, especially when the show and books are EXTREMELY DIFFERENT.

4. struggling with opinions:

I don’t know why so many people who like this series genuinely cannot handle opinions that aren’t their own. If someone thinks there’s more than one Azor Ahai, that’s FINE! Some of y’all forget the books aren’t finished yet—there’s still time for shit to happen..

If you think either Arya or Sansa will become Queen in the North, THAT’S FINE!!! You don’t need to ARGUE with people about it or CRY AND SEETHE just because you don’t agree that it’ll happen. If you think Young Griff is Aegon—good for you! If you don’t—also good for you.

If you dislike a character because they have traits written to make them PURPOSELY UNLIKABLE (Catelyn, Cersei, Jaime, Tyrion, Tywin), that’s genuinely fine. You don’t need to call people names or claim they’re misogynistic, misandrist, or braindead, or say they have no media literacy because of it.. Y’all do not need to make up BULLSHIT or purposely rile people up just because they disagree with you.

5. harassing workers!

Not only do some of y’all harass fans, but you will go out of your way to harass actors, writers of the shows, and the author himself. Y’all genuinely act like these people murdered your family—you will make fun of their appearance for doing their jobs, call them untalented and annoying because the writers made a decision for THEIR FICTIONAL CHARACTER they had no say in. Be so fr, do you ppl not have JOBS?? I’m convinced the author HATES YOUU because y’all are ungrateful, PARASOCIAL, AND WEIRD.

(This was mainly about HOTD fans, because why do y’all act like the Dance of Dragons is a real war and that the actors have the same rivalry as they do onscreen...)

Y’all aren’t entitled to shit, and I genuinely hope the author never gives you a new book in the main series, because y’all act like babies.

Wattpad fic ad 🕷️🖤

Hello! I'm writing a wattpad fanfic about Katsuki Bakugou x female reader. the fic is called arachnoid 🥹 and theres currently only about 15-16 parts. right now, im writing about the sports festival and i already have a good idea of what im going to do for the internships. but to give you a better idea of what the fic is about ill give a little summary for you 🖤🕷️

Starting off with your quirk!!

Your quirk is basically like spiderman 2099 & miles morales combined snd some extra powers i added. If you don't know them from atsv, ill give you a quick rundown of some of the abilities they have !!

So starting off with some basic spiderman powers. Peter parker has the ability to generate webs from his wrists, and so do you. But in the story, theres a little twist. You can obviously swing around and hold massive amounts of weight, but you can also form objects with a lot of firmly packed webs. It takes a lot of energy out of you though.

Spiderman also has the skill of sticking to walls and ceilings. Or just any surface that gravity doesnt allow the normal human being to stay upright on. So of course you have that included with your quirk !!

Let's not forget about the spidey sense. Spidey sense is basically just a 6th sense for telling if danger is near, and where it is coming from. But in my fic, when youre either overwhelmed and worked up or really focused on something, your brain kind of turns off the ability to sense danger. But farther into the story you'll be able to multitask.

Okay moving onto the powers you have that are similar to Miles Morales! So we know that he can turn camouflage or turn invisible, and that he has electricity powers. Now you might not have the electricity ability he has, but if you hold your breath, you can turn invisible snd camouflage into any surface.

Okay couple more things about the benefits of your quirk im pretty sure. Venom immobilization. I added the power to immobilize an opponent by protracting your fangs and emitting an immobilizing venom into someone. Yes you have to bite them for it to work, and yes it can be inconvenient. 😭

Next is how you can generate 6 extra limbs and 6 extra eyes, giving you 8 of each. So like an actual spider, you have the skill to grow six extra arms out of your shoulder blades like Shoji :) (he's such a sweetheart i love him) but also you can grow 8 eyes to enhance your range if vision and also the ability of night vision, since spiders are mainly nocturnal.

Okay i think thats it for your quirk but now its time for backstory !!

Basically the fic stated that you have an identical twin brother, Koji L/n, and both parents present. It starts off with it being the day of your brother's birthday party. Your neighbors down the street, The Bakugou family, show up to introduce themselves.

Shortly after the party ended, your brother Koji went missing, then was pronounced deceased and left a cold case. Your mother thought another baby would be enough to distract her from the loss of her child. It ended up adding more pressure onto her so she left.

You were forced into growing up too fast having to raise your little sister to the best of your ability as your dad slowly turned into a deadbeat. As you were about to finish your last year of middle school, a biy introduced himself to you and he ended up being your boyfriend for a short amount of time.

He scarred and traumatized you for life and you promised yourself to not show vulnerability and naivety towards anyone ever again, until a special someone weaseled back into your life.

My first ever story I played on the app was Heavens secret, I started out w Lucifer bc he was the biggest red flag but then Malbonte came along and I ran to him, stayed w him through heavens secret 2 🤪 I was also on the both path? i forgot what its called but u can balance ur demon and angel points and be on both paths

Then w Kali Call of Darkness I chose Amrit cuz red flags and a lik crazy, loved that story to death, the prequel starting off okay but it became rlly meh

I liker Arcanum, and the plot twist was actually crazy (i forgot who i romanced, the ro's werent that interesting, i wish i could ro myself)

I also liked on thin ice and I stayed w hodge

Now onto the ongoing stories

THE CRIMSON NILE HAS ME HOOKED, I WILL GIVE MY LEFT KINDEY FOR THIS STORY. I ofc had to go with Amen bcuz HELLO? tall, strong, mean? UGH AHH AHH AHH

Astreas broken heart is also good, but when I found out it was connected to Heavens secret and heavens secret requiem i was kinda disappointed at first (spoiler for you? idk, hope not if so im sorry Jude) bc I wanted stuff w the supernatural with werewolves and vampires and stuff but I was romancing everyone praying for a reverse harem route to open up but it didn't so I chose Malek 😛😛😛

Heavens Requiem, i love it and Cain is just so yummy HEHHEH, im acc on the devil route cuz idk theres something abt being bad rather than good, There was also something so good abt Yan but I had to go w the bigger and badder man bc yea

I liked garden of eden but I feel the plot needs to speed the fuck up and romancing Doo-yeong is so hard cuz we barely see the mfer

But yeah, tihi, theres alot more stories, I been playing for like 3 years or some and the older stories I played for gems bc the artstyle was too.. yeah no i couldn't get into it.

I've been keeping up with bily since chapter 7 (I think🤔) I just finished chapter 14 of prey animals on ao3 and I just wanted to gush about how much I love this story and your writing!! I've re read bily a couple times its genuinely one of the best things I've read🥺 It's become one of my little comforts, re reading some chapters when my brain wants a mini break from life. The excitement I feel when I see a new chapter is coming, or realize I'm a little behind and have a couple chapters to catch up on is something I haven't felt for a story before🥺The way you've built the world, described the settings, made the characters feel real and let me empathize with them through everything that happens in the story is incredible! Every plot twist and secret reveal had me gasping and clutching my imaginary pearls, then seeing the little hints sprinkled thru the earlier chapters when re reading was soo fun!! I absolutely love the relationship building/dynamics especially Tae/MC and Hobi/MC (that burn was slow but soo worth it😭) and of course theres the relationship with yoongi which was so comforting, I love the way you're building it in prey animals! OG Bily is forever iconic but during re reads the relationship start did feel a little fast, which isnt bad at all but the pacing now feels right and their backstory is a lot more fleshed out. Watching them fall in love was beautiful but also kinda ouch because I know what they're about to go thru together in the next few chapters😭 I'm a little sad the official ending chapters are coming up, but I am so stoked for the finished re write/book (if it happens i will buy several copies🫡😌) I was here when the community was a little bigger and the secrets weren't out yet, I wish I were more active on here back then so I wouldn't be word vom ing my love for the series rn (I'm almost done I swear😅) There were a couple other popular bts fics i started at the same time as bily that had similar upload schedules and youre the only one thats stayed pretty consistent with your uploads(the others do too but like a couple times a year?) and I think thats so cool, you're so passionate about your works and I admire that so much. After ch 30smth of bily I went thru the masterlist i realized you wrote a couple of my faves!!(alpha goes first +the hybrid series) I think what I'm trying to say now is I'm a fan of your writing and while bily will always be with me I'm excited for your future works as well!!! ahhhh this was so sweet to read! i read this late last night when i woke up having a panic attack. ahhhh i'm always stunned when people tell me that they've re-read bily a bunch of times because it takes so long! i hope there are moments in it that you come back too when you need them!

ahhhh i'm glad the slow burn was worth it- i was writing some of their smutt in the next chapter and 😵‍💫 hopefully it's a satisfying conclusion to their love story (we still have to see them get matching tattoo's so it's not quite the whole conclusion but still!)

i'm glad you like how i expanded upon the m/c and yoongi's story! honestly- i think it reads totally different and like- totally changes how the rest of it goes and gives you a different view on it, there's so much more rawness in the new version, i know i'll probably hear that people like it alot less but i'm still very excited for it!

So I really enjoy your story 'No Questions asked'. But it kinda feels like theres a lot of unneeded.. filler(?)

I just kinda realised that it‘s been 90,000 words and we‘ve barely reached the point that the summary describes. And Danny hasn‘t really had a 'proper' interaction with the Batfam yet?

That‘s kinda like if the entire first Harry Potter novel, which 76,000 words (screw J.K.Rowling- just needed a well known book as comparison) was just the prologue where Hagrid only shows up at the very end to take Harry to Hogwarts.

Again- I really do like the story! It just seems to drag a bit at certain points, making it a bit tedious at times?

I‘m so sorry if this reads like hate. I probably should have checked if you even want/accept criticism in the first place, but I genuinely hope this doesn’t make you feel like you’re being attacked.

No worries for the ask! Unless someone's being outright disrespectful, I totally don't mind feedback/criticism.

So short answer to your question is, yeah you're not wrong, it's long, and we're just getting to the "beginning" so to say. It did come out longer than I expected but this is mostly just my writing style.

It's also purposeful. It's meant to be a slow burn, but it is also Danny-centric, focusing a lot on how he handles his circumstances, his trauma, his responsibilities etc. And that's explicitly stated in the tags.

For me, the reasoning is that there's legit hundreds of "Danny shows up in Gotham on the run" fics. Very common premise for DPxDC. I'm a fan of many works that use that exact premise, with details being tweaked on the how's and why's. And I wanted to explore that idea in my own way. The Tumblr prompt that its based on was basically my inspiration, but I wanted to flesh out the story.

A lot of times in these plots, Danny arrives and meets the batfam within the first chapter, sometimes less than a hundred words. Just boom he's there. For me it always felt a little rushed/unrealistic, but I also don't fault writers who just want to get to the "juicy bits" and get the premise out of the way. A quick establishment so to say. But for me, a big part of writing a convincing, feeling heavy story is know the context. And not just SAYING "Danny got dissected and it was traumatic" but SHOWING that. It doesn't showcase his character very much. All the chapters I've included focus on his interactions with his sister, his best friends, clockwork (a mentor and elder), other ghosts, ones he's friends with and also total strangers, ppl who don't know him at all like ivy. And they're all there for a reason, which is to show how Danny handles different situations. How does he treat ppl in different positions. How does he see himself?

A few ppl have picked up on this in the comments throughout the fic, which is that Danny is very powerful, very competent, and still struggling. I don't want to just say that, I want to show it. Because to me it's adds some oomph to the story, and ya I also just like extensive hurt/comfort stuff.

So this fic is basically an exploration of Danny's character as much as it is a slow burn found family. I have a freakishly long list of chapters dedicated to batfam + Danny chapters. So it'll get there. But at my pace.

When I was deciding where to start the fic, I literally went "based on this prompt, where would this whole thing start? What led to this?" And went from there.

So ya it is long. We'll probs hit 100k the next chapter. And I won't lie I have no idea how long the total fic will be, rn I'm just having fun with it. I don't really pay attention to word count. Ya HP was 76k but I also think, objectively, it could've been better written. And my target audience isn't 10yr olds or whatever child demographic.

I'm also cramming a lot of different DPxDC tropes into it, and trying to add my own twist to those. Im approaching this entire fic like a creative challenge. Also I enjoy descriptive writing so haha. Professional yapper

But I can also understand feeling like this fic is going slow, and I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. But it's where I'm coming from

the first 2 eps i thought it was fine, but it didnt really captivate me as much as id hoped. but then ep 3 changed everything for me. i started to think "how could living armour work logically? everything so far has been edible, so this must be too, right?" i actually managed to think of the exact thing that this series did. that really made me realise the worldbuilding in this was something unique, and it only got better and better with each episode. its really managed to captivate me and i look forward to "delicious donderdag" every week :)

ANIME ORIGINAL LETS GOOOO absolutely bonkers show that almost slipped by me because it initially tried to fool its audience into thinking it was a regular dramatic military show. it still is but theres also a giant robot who plays by saturday morning cartoon giant robot rules. if that sounds like tonal whiplash to you, trust me, it is. and its amazing. have i mentioned how homoerotic this one is as well? yeah. originally a tier below this one, but immediately after finishing this post i watched the newest ep. i had to make an exception and edit the list because ep 9 changes everything. i havent been gobsmacked by a show this hard in a while.

i havent read the manga for yubisaki to renren so i cant compare, but the quality of this adaptation has been very consistent. you need a little sweet romance every once in a while :) this is one of those series where the characters really grew on me the longer it went on. im always a fan of mixing realistic struggles with romance and this one has been doing it well so far

adaptations that are ok (i read the manga for both of these);

i've been a mashle fan since before s1 aired. and the anime has some good changes and additions here and there! but its not very consistent in terms of quality, it does that shonen thing where the animation quality suddenly spikes for certain action sequences, but it also frequently had a lot of scenes where they recycle shots a lot and nothing interesting happens on the screen for a considerable amount of time. still! its a fine adaptation. and yeah the op for this. blew tf up lmao? very strange to see happen in real time

i actually rlly like the manga for this one. i read the whole thing up until vol.6 before the season started (all that was available back then) and it made me cry multiple times throughout. i was sort of missing that connection with the show, though some of the later episodes still hit. its mostly to do with the animation quality, which isnt that great unfortunately. the voice actors are knocking it out of the park though

i was so beyond excited for this one. i replayed the op a million times, watched each preview, rewatched multiple episodes. and then. ep 5 happened. and i started to realise. oh this show kind of sucks doesnt it? the pacing of the first ep was great, but the rest? way too fast. it became clear with ep 6 that theyre trying to do a double cour show with half the length, which is why they started hauling ass plot-wise. now. i was an arajin apologist for the longest time. but at that point i honestly started to loathe him. even when he stepped up, his praise still felt sort of unearned. and to top it all off, shindou's motivation sucked so he felt like a lousy antagonist. ep6 was better than 5, but it really made me lose my enthusiasm and hope for the series. and right as we were talking about them probably not having time for a filler ep, ep7 happened. feels like a waste of time to do an ep like that when you've still got a whole 2nd arc to go through. but who am i EDIT; I've been wanting to add this for a long time, but Bucchigiri?! actually made sort of an insane comeback after the nothingburger that was episode 7. The 2nd arc of the series was incredibly gripping and the final confrontation was so good. I ended up falling back in love with it, and it was one of my favourites from this particular season. It was the only one that I watched twice during it's airing, actually, which is something I've never done before with any show. So that certainly says something about how obsessed I was.

it started off pretty good honestly. but then chris went to the hospital and it kind of just dwindled from there. this season does so much with characters that have not even been properly introduced like how am i supposed to care about these people if i barely know who they are. the stuff with finn and leo respectively was good though. but the lore dump? lord help me. also vijay just kind of. exists to be there in the background huh? i would not call him a main character they never give him any attention. wendy had another ep again and he didnt get shit. again. also i think finn was stupid as fuck for not listening to lala but again. who am i. i know we cant destroy high card because we need a show but. cmon man.

Been watching invincible with my partner and I'm pretty hooked. I watched the whole first season in like two sittings lmao. Mark is my favorite character, probably because he reminds me of Lucian. I love characters that start out as optimistic puppies and turn into sad wet cats.

Also the art style!?! Crazy how detailed they can get with so few lines. It's silly but I love the way Donald is drawn specifically. I know exactly what that bitch would look like as a real person. I love the way they draw muscles too. I've always been intimidated by drawing them 'cause you'd think you'd have to draw so much detail to make it look correct. But the way they just imply most of it is so good. Makes it seem so much more achievable.

My partner also pointed out that the writers like to explain stuff right off the bat. They don't leave you with unanswered questions if it isn't a plot twist they're holding onto for a story arch. Like you get to know how the murders happen in the very first episode, you know what Omni man is capable of. But it doesn't take away from the tension because your left wondering "when is he going to snap again?" And the classic murder mystery premise of "how are the heros going to solve the case". It's so interning I like it a lot. And even after a good chunk of the main cast have it figured out they are left trying to tiptoe around a literal Superman to avoid suspicion. And we still don't know "why?" Til the end of the season. Another example is when the introduce Angstrom they have the baulter brothers say straight up what his powers are. What he can do and their limits! Because his plot twist doesn't need that information to be a secret. And having them explain it show cases how smart the brothers are. They aren't just some nobody villain of the week characters. They're important. In the dimensions they start season 2 in you can see rudy doesn't have his new clone body so you can assume that he didn't talk to the brothers. So the brothers didn't get the control collar. So they didn't revive immortal. So mark didn't get to see his dad kill immortal, for the second time, in cold blood. So he was more likely to sympathize with his dad and join him in the planet take over. They're so important, TO ME, I love those boys. I hope theres more of the clones.

Anyways I'm only on s2 e1 but I'm pretty obsessed. Theres something about the way it's been written that makes me more partial to it than The Boys. Which is another superhero subversion show I enjoyed. I haven't really watched any normal superhero movies/shows in a hot minute just because of the whole marvel multiverse shenanigans made me kinda turn off of it. But I low-key want to read/watch more superhero stuff. Writing/drawing stuff for To Be Lucky has made me very superhero pilled at the moment. Any suggestions would be great.

I agree with your take that there has to be some kind of plot twist related to David that the game hasn't tackled yet. I always thought the fact that David is possibly the only character we haven't seen unmasked is related to this. We have seen Jakob and Elizabeth (the other Eilanders don't seem to be relevant to the plot anymore) but we never saw David's face. This might be because he just is a corrupted soul and has no face. But why put on a rabbit mask? If he is actually a rabbit then he is an Asura, just like his brown rabbit self. but he looks different. David is different and we have no answers to why.

hmm I think theres a possibility that David's Asura form is corrupted in itself. Whatever is happening to him it's something we haven't seen with other characters and I mentioned this a few times before but it's interesting that he has so many different forms and none of them are what we know a corrupted soul to be.

It's likely that David, the cloaked white rabbit David, from Hotel is David from the future, at the beginning oh his resurrection journey, going back in time to... idk?? do something?? maybe he tried to save his past self in hotel but failed? So then he had to go back to 1939 to get the item from Dale's family. ok so firstly totks whole Pre Hyrule thing doesnt exist here. im not doing that. the zonai are non-gods who literally just sailed into the country and happen to know magic. they also dont make the same type of ruins associated with the zonai in totk. their ruins match up much more with the ruins in faron and the animal-esque designs. also theyre extremely vague and none of them become the king. i can draw you some zonais if youd like but the whole zonai thing in totk makes zero sense especially with botw and theres actual contradictory information in this essay i w

because of this rauru and sonia Might exist, but they will be Extremely Different. im not making rauru a zonai if he does exist too, though mineru still might be one just. heavily redesigned. so theres no power struggle to lead to ganondorfs imprisonment- something else is the cause of that.

as to what? i have no idea yet </3. itd probably be similar to the exile of the shekiah when the helped with the calamity, ganon being seen as a threat and something to be exterminated. ganon may not have helped or interacted with the monarchy, but it didnt change what the king and queen viewed of him. though i dont think any prior games or legends “influenced” this- as in they didnt follow any prophecy or something, but they basically ingrained the roles of the past into being completely static if that makes sense. zelda is always the pretty princess with wisdom and powers of the goddess (and hylian), link is always the hero always with the master sword and courage (also always hylian), and ganon? always the oppressor. always the king of evil, king of the gerudo. always a threat. in the same ways these roles hurt zelda and link pre cal, these roles ESPECIALLY hurt ganon, just this time more directly. its almost like how certain laws target marginalized groups and by proxy accidentally hurt literally everyone else. but he was just a “threat to hylia” in some way or form, either due to something or just by existing. or both. but an incident probably lead to his imprisonment. all things considered i should. really work on this..? though thats complicated because if the shekiah just noticed the pattern of the calamity then people would have to deal with two separate events rather than just one, which could work but the “inciting incident” of the 10000 year calamity being beaten is almost null and passed on to another. at that point i might as well do what ive seen other fanfics do before totk came out and wrote about the zonai- grouping them together in the same time period and make the sealing of ganon himself as the person the 10000 year sealing of the calamity. however that wouldnt make sense with the tapestry…unless the tapestry isnt accurate to what happened which Is possible but still why go through all the effort to lie about becoming his calamity form? showing him as not human would fit with how they view him but still they couldve made him look like a monster- like a lynel or his pig forms, not a boar like cloud. so. i almost want to ignore his backstory entirely and only focus on him being well. trapped. i just dont know if this is the right move to make, as much as being trapped under the castle Is a backstory its not really a fleshed out one or one that shows his past connections or who he was as a person. though that does kind of fit with what he is now. uhm so yeah i have no idea im sorry

but to his. not-really-a-backstory backstory. like in totk, hes under the castle. everybody has forgotten this, the rulers being warned about.. Something under the castle, and to not speak of it like zelda says in the intro to totk. theres a locked gate, maybe with some stolen shekiah tech (used by the king/someone when the shekiah were exiled and hunted, getting scrap parts before they were buried) to secure it. or maybe they just like about it being protected by the goddess so no one can open it and because its such an easy lie to check everybody believes it. though i genuinely think its locked extremely well, either with past magic, the triforce when a past zelda or queen had it and sealing ganon was sealing the gate as well, sheikah tech, or something else. i say that because at some point youd think the yiga would literally just walk in if it was a lie. the shekiah tech is a bit dicey because the yiga probably know way more about it than the shekiah (except for purah and robbie), however. i was going to argue they might not actually know that much about the tech which while it would depend on yiga to yiga i feel on some level they could absolutely break into it. (i used to think it was a parallel to botws general amnesia, forgetting their goal of originally helping hyrule, but after reading gboh the possibility of them changing it over time actively is probably a lot better, especially with it adding agency and also them being Rightfully Angry at the monarchy and eliminating those who stand as its biggest supporters? or pawns. and rereading the wiki page for them i cant remember how i thought they “forgot” their goal. ok sorry!! honestly i like to think some sheikah and yiga before being truly separate still made tech in secret, either to prevent something in the future or to help themselves (the sheikah being ok in the rain because of the tech in their outfits.) kind of like a third group that eventually faded out due to amnesia or became a yiga and Remembered. ok anyways) but yeah. on one hand Itd Fit and be such a slap in the face to the sheikah in general, but also the yiga should and probably would know how to break it down. that is if they even know the door exists, and the only reason they dont break into it is because they dont know It Exists because it wasnt built by them and ganon isnt able to communicate with them, or at least communicate with them well. in that scenario they could and Would be able to break down those protections which would actually make sense.

ALRIGHT. under the castle isnt the same as totks under the castle, and while it might…??? be the same one in the Trailer, that would require the zonai which, while they have their own mysterious plotline here (they magiced so hard they ended up in the sky), and theyre absolutely Important, i dont know how important they were in ganons sealing specifically. i like the zonai having some secret involvement of it and i also like having more zonai ruins, but i dont think the royal family would tolerate them At All because theyd also be a threat like the sheikah. they built literal labyrinths and actually know about the triforce more explicitly (the sheikah also seem to, or the ancient sheikah). them casting themselves off into the sky makes sense because who else could do that, But Yeah. theyd have their own documented versions of what they did, and i like to think they were fairly involved in hyrule as a whole. anyways sorry i just need to come up with how he was sealed and how it makes sense. god i used to have hopes and dreams about totk. we couldve gotten a new major god. and yet,

He might as well not exist at all. but hes awake, rotting and tearing apart down at the bottom of that chamber always awake and always there. he cant move on yet, he needs to get out he needs to get out he has to get out

so!! his main focus is escape!! anyone who dies either had to or isnt something he thinks about. something something a means to an end, if people die so be it. plus if hes going down hea bringing hyrule with him, clawing onto it. he isnt mindless, guardians trying to ravish important locations like the temple of time and the akkala citadel, tactical locations. the malice is more of a by product of the original 100 year calamity, but it serves to help ganon keep and Eye out haha but also block and cover things. i like to think theres malice in guardians and thats why the master sword reacts to them. anyways, in botw he has a butterfly esque cacoon, and a spider like body made of sheikah tech. he was probably building a New Body as his means of escaping. why he made it like that? no idea. he definitely wouldnt live a quiet life once he was out and i think its an accidental by product of wanting to kill people/punish them in a sense. maybe he was going to have two bodies, like mettaton EX where the box body would be in this sense ganondorfs “normal” form where his spider form would be his Kill form.

if he wanted to be king of hyrule, this would probably be why. i dont really think he would, but if he did he’d do it both to punish those who wronged him while making sure what happened to him wont happen again, making sure the hylian royal family is never in a seat of power again. but right now he wants people to pay.

this also ties into him being “a calamity”; as hes trapped under the earth, i think he’d have an effect over it as well. trying to claw his way out from under the earth, parting the dirt in which it looks as if its breathing, sand piling over making sounds described as screams (though in real life its described as singing). in a way hes a part of it, but not by choice. hes the very thing you stand on and yet hes dismissed.

but anyways. hes very mad. link would describe him as “actively wanting me dead” in the timeloop au. his blights are described as screaming in the fic and i like to think thats ganon screaming in rage, pain or both. hes also not green here i should mention that. his form down in the dungeon i like to think has ghouls protruding from it like theyre melting into one and other and are reaching out with their hands, grabbing at whatever they can. hes pretty chill but smug post imprisonment, mostly a quiet cocky. less one for dramatics and rather plays it straight. likes pink and also is a fan of the desert right under spectacle rock. in the timeloop au hes also in the timeloop with link which causes problems. speaking of theyre pretty alike, and wreath would be like him in the timeloop au if he didnt already exist like percy jackson and luke. they could be friends in theory, but their circumstances drove them apart (hey like the wind waker post). hes a big fan of water buffalos, bulls, goats, cats and dogs, and sand sparrows. sand sparrows are his favorite animal in general and almost made it a symbol of the gerudo. id like to associate him with moths thanks to queen gibdo (shes not in this au she doesnt exist here). might actually like spiders as well as other insects. kotake and koume exist here :] . i think some of the gerudo havent forgotten, and thats why the hylia statue is way less in use, though it still being there is an act from the gerudo from the present ish. he likes soft and airy clothes. a lot more regal in the presence of leaders of their respective races- like the king or queen of the zora, the king and queen of the hylians, etc. likes hearty soup but also straight voltfruit juice. doesnt like hydromelons. he and zelda would hate each other, zelda Especially and their anger at each other almost cancels each other out. zelda is Very mad at him. chronic pajama wearer, gets a gerudo clothes person to make regal clothes with the same fabric from pajama clothes. sometimes he sleeps in them but other times he doesnt. big fan of the concept of magic, and likes chuchu jelly a lot. hes more prominent in the timeloop au honestly and im sorry for that. id like to give him an actual arc but well. i dont know how i would do that…….. also i want him to have a happy ending for once but i dont know if thatd work with this story. especially because of him killing the champions. him being an omen would be fitting, but still. him being punished narratively for no reason is stupid if that makes sense. his reason for doing what he did wasnt bad, but what he did by proxy was. i dunno death doesnt feel right for him, at least yet. he was happy though, once

some thoughts as I near the send of Discovery s1

so far I'm really enjoying this series. the story's been really cool, the cast is strong, and its been very enjoyable to watch. Michael is just. fucking fantastic. shes a strong lead, with layers and layers, with complexity, and shes a treat to watch. such a compelling and mesmerizing character. and also, I love the mirror universe tie-in. fantastic. especially Gabriel- holy shit that reveal had me reeling. I havent been that blown away by a plot twist in a long time

that all said. I am having a hard time viewing this series as a prequel. sure, we're in the middle of the war with the Klingons, and its been made very clear that this is a prequel, but still. theres a big risk in doing any prequel series long after the original, and this is especially the case in Star Trek, which not only has TOS, but also several series set long after TOS. the technology in Discovery simply looks far better and more advanced than most of the things we see in anything from TOS to Voyager

I want to be clear- I dont mean the special effects. because Enterprise had special effects that were leagues better than TOS, but the tech wasn't at the levels that TOS' was, in every aspect. translators, communicators, medical supplies and tech, the transporters, I could go on. even the ship itself, with its cramped quarters and dining halls. despite having much better effects and visuals, Enterprise feels old by TOS standards. Discovery doesnt have that. Discovery, even with old-style communicators and holograms, feels brand new. everything from Discovery's never-before-seen warp core to the uniforms feels new. that old feeling isnt there, so yeah. its really hard to view this series as a prequel

I'm still enjoying myself! I'm hoping I continue to enjoy myself. I just wish modern (live action) Star Trek content would focus less on prequels and focus more on what happens after, say DS9 and Voyager. and I dont mean that as a shot to animated Trek- I love Lower Decks, and I'm super excited to watch Prodigy- but if we're gonna have these live action shows with these AMAZING visuals and writing as strong as this first season has been, I'd love to see it applied to something that isnt yet another prequel

oooh soo many honestly. gotta love tropes and cliches of a genre that is most beloved to you! im definitely going to leave some out because theres so many effective and great ones like an easy one could be the final girl or weird girl and another could be creepy music swelling to signify that something is about to go wrong or tricking you into being wary of that or the scare that you wait for but it never comes/the fake-out, fear of the unknown like things shrouded in darkness or things that arent visible to the naked eye or something, the "one last scare" trope where the killer or whoever comes back for one last scare, or the twist of "it was actually this other thing/situation all along!"which isnt always effective or interesting but great when it is and is original... but a few lesser known or used fun ones im thinking of are weird/creepy/fucked up twins, losing a limb and replacing it with some kind of weapon, also technology is the mind killer and will actually kill you!

Hi, I loved your post about the family vacation with Ichi and Sawashiro. And I'll just say that I didn't have a problem with Sawashiro's role in IW... until the very last second. Because they get a freaking helicopter for Kiryu, but no one even went to look if Sawashiro was ok?? They just leave him in the chair while tending to Kiryu. BOTH of them are dying.

Like holy shit, Ichi would have gone to him in a second. He would have stopped Ebina's monologue instead of just standing there without even knowing if he was alive or not. That was for me the most disrespectful moment. I loved how Ichi believed in him at the beginning of Chapter 10, and then I was expecting some kind of reunion at the end but he f*cks off to Hawaii, not even a "Please save the Captain" to Kiryu or anything. That's what made me the most mad

And lets be real here the rest of the cast has no reason whatsoever to care about Sawashiro other than him being someone important to Ichi. (I think Tomi says something like 'i dont know this guy but if he's being used as bait he's gotta be important to you' iirc)

Then Kiryu walks in and is like "leave Ebina to me" bc Ebina's plotline is suddenly something personal Kiryu has to deal with??? (my feelings about kiryu being a protag in this game is a whole diff can of worms that I wont open rn but keep in mind how its mostly negative) So Ichi leaves that to him and doesn't really state what he's feeling about all the new info that gets dropped on him (this could be a 'Ichi putting others above himself' moment but i still hate it bc whats the point of Ebina's '''plot twist''' if Ichi was not even a part of it????)

And my god Sawashiro at that last scene. I think my live reaction of that scene is still on twitter where I just bitch for an hour. Even before the scene happened I was like "If they kill Sawashiro without Ichi present it'd make no sense. just like how killing Hanawa without Kiryu present was a Bad Choice".

When that chair turned... I think I tuned out the rest of Ebina's monologue bc I kept thinking the same 3 things: 1. none of this would've happened if sawashiro came with me to hawaii, 2. there's absolutely no reason for this to happen with This Cast (i dont think they even react outside of gasping or something) and 3. when will this masato clone wanna-be shut the fuck up so I can beat his face in (One thing I'll give to that chair scene was how it was a direct parallel to Hoshino's corpse. I think it was a very sexy thing rgg did.)

And then they're like "look!! he's not dead!!!" but at that point I was not sure if that was a 'last words' or a 'he's still alive!' moment. and I'm gonna be honest I Still Do Not know bc just like you said anon, NOONE DOES ANYTHING ABOUT HIM??? (nor about ebina for that matter) AND THEN THERES NO FOLLOW UP WHATSOEVER????? and all this makes me see it as sequel bait tbh

and I'm not even going into how he doesnt even get to meet Akane again. Thats a whole other topic on its own and I think I already typed out enough lol.

If anyone was to ask me for sad book recs I would throw Kathleen Glasgow in their face without hesitation. In my eyes she is a goddess among sad authors. 

She writes so many varied heavy topics in such a perfect way. Showing the brutality and reality that is - in the case of this book - addiction. But instead of your usual addiction based books, such as junk by Melvin burgess, it is not written from the point of view of the addict; it is written from the point of view of the addicts sister. A sister Whos dealing with her own problems and forms of addiction, pushed out of the limelight. Shes not strong willed like her gorgeous older sister. Not in rehab like her wild drug addicted brother. No, she is quiet, reliable, obedient. Isnt she? Well- other than secretly hooking up and sharing nudes with the boy next door. And the fact she can’t seem to help herself from stealing. Just on occasion though. When tragedy strikes their small town can Emmy finally drop the act?

‘The thing that I want? To be seen. Like I matter. Instead of just, ‘oh. Theres Emmy.’’

It’s been a while since I read this book so forgive me if I get some facts twisted. I’ve been meaning to reread it for a while. 

This book does not just follow addiction, it’s follows the trail of destruction it leaves behind. It follows a girl barely keeping it together. A family tearing at the seams die to the emotional toll on them all. Emmy is and incredibly relatable narrator and an incredibly ‘real’ teen. I don’t know quite how else to put it. She just seems like she could actually be a real person rather than a hypothetical character. Her ‘perfect’ older sister makes her feel unseen by not only her parents but everyone. Her brother who is struggling with addiction makes her feel like all the responsibilities fall in her. A point that becomes obvious and destructive as the story goes on. 

She constantly puts the responsibility on her own shoulders. She is always trying to ‘fix’ her brother in hopes it’ll keep her family from imploding. She just wants to protect everyone. Eventually she understands his burdens aren’t hers to carry, but it takes a long, long time. 

This book is just so raw. Every book Glasgow writes is. It’s so painful, raw, and real. Thats the most horrible, beautiful part of all of this. It’s all real. This is someone’s life. Maybe not the exact events but something so similar, people will read this book and see themselves reflected in the pages. Maybe even find themselves in Emmys words and thoughts. Though the character of Emmy is fictional she is still real in some peoples hearts. 

The book shows how addiction can never be a smooth path, how there is always going to be relapses, always going to be problems, bumps in the road. Thats how addiction is. No matter what your drug of choice is. She shows that even through all this trouble and pain, it’s possible. You have the ability to heal. To change yourself. It’s not just a story of addiction. It’s a story of how to heal. How to become a better you. Addiction isn’t solved through perfection. It’s solved through love and patience and simply being there ready to help when you can. No one’s perfect. If they are they are a liar. Everyone’s dealing with shit, it’s not your job to fix other people when you yourself are broken. 

Another point to make is that throughout this book it does not only focus and the addiction and collateral of that but also adresses how while school matters. So does life. This is often shown through the anonymous online posts made throughout the book. (Such as pages 136, 118, 186, 163, 283, 319 in my copy) I’ll put pics of the pages and posts at the end of the review with other quotes as they don’t offer too many spoilers without any context. Theres sub plots with other characters proving you never truly know what someone’s going through. 

This book is not an easy read, it’s not a quick book you can read on the subway on your way to work or school. At times it was so heavy I couldn’t put the book down, but not because the book was exciting, but because it was so real. Every word twisted with thought and meaning. I couldn’t put it down because the idea of leaving these characters, each with their own problems, and trauma, and lives- it was too much to bear. 

This book is a must read and I belong everyone should read it. Regardless of age (although I’d rec atleast 13/14) this book shows how being a teenager can really feel at times. Because this world puts too much on the shoulders of children. Children who are still developing. Teenagers can’t raise teenagers. Emmys development through this book isnt big and in your face, it’s not unrealistic in the time given, it’s not magically fixed. It’s quiet, it’s realistic, it’s still in the progress of healing. This book is for everyone Whos felt unseen. Who feels like a background character in someone else’s life, a supporting role with no real purpose other than to move the plot. It’s a tale of addiction in the most forward way possible. It sugarcoats nothing. This book reminds you that you are in charge of your life, and you must decide what you do with that.  

Some stuff from the authors note about addiction (specifically US): ‘more than 20 million people in the US alone struggle with substance abuse each year. If you think rhat only adults think again: that statistic starts as early as 12. Twelve. And that just what’s being documented.’

‘Addiction is a disease. Plain and simple. And it should be treated as such.’

Glasgow goes round to schools and does talks and writing excersises where she gets people to write their biggest secret anonymously. It’s at one of these when she first thought to write from someone other than that addicteds view. ‘I love my sister but I hate my sister because she is on drugs. That is all my parents care about, not me. It’s like I’m invisible.’ <— this is something someone (a student at a school) has written down. Something happening to them.  This is a real problem in everyday. 

‘When we talk about addiction we have to talk about the collateral damage: the mental health of the kids and adults surrounding the addict. How do you live when your life has been upended by someone else’s health crisis? When you feel guilty about wanting to go to a dance, or be kissed, or go away to college, because right next to you, someone else is suffering?’

‘There are millions of joeys [the brother] and Emory’s out there, and they shouldn’t be invisible. They live here too.’
