First Thoughts and Impressions on 'Skeleton Crew'

**Contains minor and/or vague spoilers for the two-episode premiere.**

I can honestly say: was definitely not expecting our main cast of characters to be children. Probably would have known that had I looked at any of the promotional material beforehand, but sometimes I love going in as blind as I possibly can.

This being another installment in the era of the New Republic, I'm curious to see where things go because it's sandwiched somewhere between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Believe I saw it was roughly around 9 ABY (After Battle of Yavin) on the SW timeline. Same sort of "neighborhood" in terms of time with shows like Mando, TBoBF and Ahsoka.

There are already a few things that feel "weird" about the series right now, but seeing as we're only two out of eight episodes in I'm going to hold off on saying anything as to whether I think it's good or bad until we know more.

Already find most of the characters fairly likeable. (Not sure how I feel about Fern just yet, but I do like how gutsy she is at least!) The droid, SM-33, that they find on the ship could easily end up being one of my favorites by the end. I already like Neel a lot, too. Be curious to learn what his species is since he's not Ortolan (think Max Reebo); just looks rather similar in a couple of ways.

Also curious to learn what all the business with At Attin is about, too!

Call themselves part of the New Republic, but Wim's "lunch money" is gold Republic credits? Multiple characters saying it's illegal to go in or out of the Barrier without permission? All those pirates in Brogo Port calling it a mythical/lost planet full of treasure? Smells like we're getting a "planet has been closed off from the rest of the galaxy for a Very Big reason" storyline!

All and all feeling good about the start of the series, and I'm already looking forward to a new episode next week.
