What is this?

Project LUMEN is an effort to bring the Life Series to life in a brand new way, in videogame form! A RPG of sorts with battle mechanics, interaction with npcs, our own unique spin in Watcher Lore, changing art styles and multiple endings with a bunch of mechanics we need to keep secret for now but we know you all will enjoy, at least we hope so.

Cool, how can I contribute?

We want LUMEN to be a game by the community for the community, a tribute to all the wonderful artists, writers and creatives of all kinds. And it is a HUGE project, as such, all help is appreciated. We plan to open applications from time to time to recruit people as passionate as us into our little team. But everyone can lend a hand if they so desire, all ideas, all likes, all reblogs, all comments, all art, is truly, genuinely appreciated. Project LUMEN is completely non-profit, a passion project turned group effort that we are willing to pour our heart into, and we want to be as transparent as possible with it.

How will development of the game itself go?

As for specifications, Kori is the one in charge of the coding department, we are going to use Unity and C# to program everything, Arto will manage music and Pinkish will be in charge of the Martyn and Ren section. But once we review our first batch of applications, we will contact our chosen ones with more details, either for character sprites, script or any other miscellaneous things. We will all be working together as a team, each contributing as much as they so desire.

We will then take to developing our early alpha build including our very first couple of chapters, and release it for playtesting, then we will take all the feedback and make the pertinent changes. We will improve the game and continue developing until we have an almost finished beta build that we will then publish for testing. Take all the criticism again to finally reveal our finished product. Releasing first on itch io and then hopefully ported into Newgrounds for mobile compatibility.

Is there a release date?

As of now, we'd rather not promise anything. But we are actively working on development, and we hope to, at the very least, have a playable alpha demo at the end of this year.

This is a fun writing challenge, to encourage creativity. There are no prizes but your own satisfaction, and the love of your readers. :)

No, I am not trying to usurp Comfortember (which I thought for sure was in September??) the already established writing event to follow up Whumptober. This is just an alternative, with a greater variety of prompts, and prompt schedules.

So pertinent factoids:

Who: You can call me Rain, and this is open to anyone.

What: a writing event (but you can make art too if you want!) centered around gen (platonic) relationships and hurt/comfort (leaning into the comfort) scenes. Fanfic and original work welcome.

When: November

Where: anywhere you post writing! But this blog will only reblog writing or links from here on tumblr. An Ao3 collection could be possible, though I've never made one before.

Prompts: There are three levels of prompts to choose from, to help you set realistic goals for yourself, and hopefully let you participate without the guilt of not making every day!😘 There are Daily, Weekly, and a single Month prompt groups.

The Prompt of the Month consists of three words or phrases, a line of dialogue, and a song to draw inspiration from.

The 4 Weekly Prompts consist of three words or phrases, and a line of dialogue each.

The 30 Daily Prompts consist of three words or phrases each.

You can use ANY of the prompts for the day/week, from one to all of them! You will notice some variety in the amounts of hurt vs comfort vs fluff in each prompt group. So you can pick whatever you're feeling, or use all of them in the progression of your work! Or if you want to continue some of those Whumptober fics with recovery and hugs and cuddles...👀

Works: can be any length, from five sentences, to ficlets, to a whole chapter fic/novel mashing all the prompts together! Both fanfic and original writing are welcome. They do not have to be written or posted in order, just make sure to tag which day/weeks prompts you're using.

Content: This is supposed to be centered around gen or platonic relationships (friends, siblings, parent-child, mentor-student, neighbours, soldiers, other familial bonds, a garbage truck driver and the kid who waves at him every day, etc. even people and their pets). Romantic relationships can be in the background, but I'm really looking for friends, family, and countrymen to take centre-stage here. I would ask the writing be kept PG-13 or lower on the maturity scale. :) Or at least this blog will not reblog or recognize anything with explicit content.

Okay, this has been a long overdue PSA, seeing that S2 came and went and, regardless how any of us feel about it (or because of it, seeing the amount of fix-it fics?) it left an amazing power of inspiration, seeing that there are.. .70-100 new fics being posted every day? Now, since the very beginning, back in Dec 2021, the point of this place was always the convenience, as well as to connect all those talents out there to a hopefully wider audience - while at the same time sparing everyone from the problematic stuff also being written/posted (that most of us would like to avoid) so therefore, for the overwhelming number of the new followers – here are some basic house rules:

CONTENT: It is at this point absolutely impossible to read everything, so we can not offer guarantees about any content quality. So it goes without saying that, based on what’s presented from descriptions and the tags - it’s your choice to peruse, or respectfully move on. It is the responsibility of both author and the reader - the first one of creating the content (and of course marking/tagging it appropriately) and the latter one making their own choice about consuming and engaging. 

TAGS: To prevent any unpleasant situations, ALL posted fics must have pertinent, unambiguous tags - main, as well as all the additional ones. The content itself is naturally writer’s prerogative, but the issue of the reader’s choice to engage or not is also non-negotiable, and then everything is simple: if forewarned about the content, one can still choose to give it a shot, or not. Insufficient or inappropriate tagging may lead to misunderstandings and/or dismay, and that’s exactly why everyone out there usually does abide to the common tagging courtesies. On the other hand, if a fic has been tagged with something possibly problematic only as an act of cautiousness - while it does not really contain any graphic content like that - it might still be posted, upon careful screening. In that case, all readers are still advised to use their blacklists.

BLACKLISTS: People create these spaces to present their content and all the safewords and blacklists are unfortunately a necessity, ultimately to protect ourselves as well as everyone else. As stated in the initial post - we will be filtering all extreme content (rape, underage, gore, incest, beast, etc) but please use your own regular blacklists for anything else. If there are any other discrepancies or inconsistencies to this rule, please inform us and we shall review accordingly. 

MISSING FICS: With the overwhelming number of fics, there’s also a problem of cross-posted stuff that does not belong here. Namely Jayvik or Timebomb (M/M and F/M) where Cait/Vi are tagged regardless of being just a background ship, or barely present as characters. Due to the limitations of the RSS feed app we utilise here (and no, they are not free - in case anyone cares) the conditions, as broadly defined as we tried to make them - category, relationships, specific additional tags - simply HAD to be set. Therefore with such filters, some fics may not pass. In which case, if it’s your fic – and you feel it still belongs here, let us know and we'll see what we can do about it. But if you do, please act immediately as we cannot go through hundreds of month-old posts.

FIC SEARCH: Unfortunately this page is NOT a "can you find a fic for me" page. We tried to facilitate that in the beginning - but alas, not a lot of you were interested in partaking - and helping others. And we here do not (and can not, physically) read everything, nor we keep libraries. So, if there's a general interest we can still set up a tag, or start a community with that purpose - fic search or general fic chat. But again, there would have to be an interest from a lot more than the few of us here - for that thing to work. In the meantime, you have "AUTHOR-FIC-TAG-POST SEARCH" option on the non-dash version of ao3feed-piltovers-finest.tumblr.com main page if accessed from your browser, and not the app.

DISCUSSIONS: Not really here to facilitate discussions (be it about systemic issues, encroaching the spaces of others - or authorial egos and other similar nonsense) nor to arbitrate personal issues and conflicts - this page is here ONLY for the fanfiction, good vibes and (hopefully great) stories about the characters we all love. So if you feel inclined to, only fanfiction reviews, recommendations, suggestions and proposals will be encouraged.

Currently Reading: The Thick and the Lean by Chana Porter (I'm enjoying it a lot so far, and all the food descriptions make me so hungry, which means I could never survive in a society that abstains from/limits eating like the one in the book, lol.)

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Love all three, but I've been more adventurous with food over the last couple years and discovered I enjoy spicy dishes a lot more than I thought!

Last Thing I Googled: "Emoji keyboard windows" because every time I want to use an emoji on desktop I end up googling and copy/pasting, lmao.

Current Obsession: I'm afraid it's still the Sims, my friends. Hard not to think about it morning, noon, and night.

9 books for 2025

I had picked up my reading game in the past couple of years, but stalled out in the last half of this year because I was reading a rom com and those make me sad because I’m not good enough to be in love!! anyway, did I DNF it and start something else? no, that would be far too reasonable. however I have picked it up again to finish and hopefully I get back into something new soon.

I kind of just add anything I hear about that sounds Gay or Cool to my goodreads/libby holds and pick based on whatever’s available and the vibes at any given moment. so here are 9 that have been in the queue for a while, or seem relevant based on current vibes (cough), or just seem intriguing to me!!

1. Surviving Autocracy by Masha Gessen: yeah about those vibes I mentioned….seems pertinent!! Catherine you are much more of a nonfiction bitch than I am apparently, but I want to start incorporating it more into my reading rotation.

2. The Only One Left by Riley Sager: I tend to lean towards horror in my reading, much more than I do in movies. I haven’t read any Sager but want to, and this is the most appealing premise to me out of all of his books.

3. Her Majesty’s Royal Coven by Juno Dawson: one that’s been in my Libby holds for a lonngggggg time. idk it seems fun! and it would be cool to get into a series, none of the ones I’ve tried lately have made me want to keep going.

4. Plain Bad Heroines by Emily Danforth: I go through Libby selections pretty quickly (because you can, but mostly because there’s a 21 day limit and you can’t extend a hold) and tend to neglect the physical books I have waiting on my bookshelf. this is a big one so if I read it, clearly that means I can fill up its spot with more books on the TBR shelf. also I really liked The Miseducation of Cameron Post which is by the same author.

5. Belly of the Beast: The Politics of Anti-Fatness as Anti-Blackness by Da’Shaun Harrison: again with more nonfiction. I really enjoyed Da’Shaun on the Fatties Talk Back podcast and want to delve more into their writing. with the thin is in garbage barreling back into the mainstream (did it ever leave?) I want to reground myself with some good fat scholarship. feels like it will be a good expansion on Fearing the Black Body which I read a couple years ago.

6. A Day of Fallen of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon: ok I guess I lied about no series grabbing my recently but this is technically only a duology soooo…I fucking loved The Priory of the Orange Tree, but I didn’t want to start the sequel immediately, and now it’s been long enough!!

7. Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent; now I’m just picking things randomly from my goodreads haha. this one comes highly recommended by a booktoker whose suggestions I tend to like, and (kind of in alignment with the horror I suppose) I’ve started exploring thrillers more and want to keep going.

8. Perfume & Pain by Anna Dorn: I really enjoyed this author’s previous book Exalted, and while (spoiler) one of the people I’m going to tag in this hasn’t liked their other works after that, I’m still intrigued by the premise.

9. Be There When the Luck Happens by Ina Garten: lmao listen, I am a barefoot contessa stan. and I got this for christmas! I usually try and offset the horror/depressing shit I read with love stories, and then those make me feel bad about myself, so instead I shall try to do the offsetting with a memoir of specialty food store ownership in the hamptons.

Beidou sauntered around the Inazuman merchants’ tables, perusing all the curious items on display. Alas, nothing she saw caught her eye. Ningguang was a woman with very specific taste. The crew of the Crux would be leaving shortly, and she had promised the Tianquan she’d bring something special back for their date night.

As she wandered the city streets, she came across a small shop with a sign outside that read Potions and Elixirs. She entered, hoping to find the perfect souvenir; what she discovered was nothing but what appeared to be chocolates and alcohol lining the shelves.

Cute store name for booze and treats. A bit misleading, but can’t say I’m all that disappointed.

A woman suddenly appeared before her, but Beidou was too engrossed in determining what to buy to even notice her presence.

“Looking for anything specific?” The mysterious shopkeeper asked.

Beidou jumped a little out of surprise. “I-I…uh,” she stammered before clearing her throat. “I’m looking for something to share with an- err… a friend of mine when I return to Liyue.”

“Ah…a lover, perchance?” she asked.

“Um…yea I guess you could say that, sure,” Beidou was unsure of how to answer such a loaded question. She didn’t want to blow her or Ningguang’s cover but also wanted to get something that actually made sense.

“Then may I perhaps suggest these for the both of you?” She produced a box of chocolates with a label that read Lovesick. As Beidou turned the delicate box over in her hands, she noticed each piece had a word written on it: Sexy, passionate, romantic, love, and lustful. She found these amusing and could already see Ningguang’s face flushing in her mind.

“Great. I’ll take a box,” Beidou said enthusiastically.

“Excellent choice. But it might also be pertinent for me to mention these go great with a bottle of wine.” The merchant produced one with a label that read Aphro-Disiac. “They go together very well and make for quite the dessert.” The merchant smiled, a mischievous gleam in her eye.

Wow, these Inazuman merchants really try to fleece ya, huh?

“Sure. I’ll take that as well. I’m never one to turn down alcohol,” Beidou laughed as she handed the woman a handful of mora. Pleased with her find, she made her way out of the shop. As she started to walk back down to the harbor, she heard a pop. Turning around, she discovered the shop that was once there was gone.

What in the Archons’ names was that all about?

Trying not to think too deeply about it, she made her way back to the Alcor and set sail to Liyue.

As they dropped anchor at the outskirts of Guyun Stone Forest, Beidou looked up at the Jade Chamber with a smile as she thought about seeing Ningguang that night. Making her way back to Liyue Harbor, she watched the waves come in as she waited for one of Ningguang’s assistants to pick her up.

“Captain Beidou!” Baishi exclaimed as she waved at her. “I’m terribly sorry. Lady Ningguang’s business dinner is running late. She requested I escort you back to the chamber in the meantime.” It seemed she really had picked the perfect gift. Hopefully, she was still hungry for dessert by the time she made it back.

After Baishi had led her up to Ningguang’s bedroom, Beidou got to work setting things up. Popping the cork on the wine, the familiar aroma of glaze lilies hit her senses. “What an odd scent for a wine. I swear I’ve smelt this before...” Beidou thought to herself as she poured two glasses, placing them both on the small table in the room. She then opened the box of chocolates and made them look presentable.

The sound of Ningguang’s melodic voice echoed down the hall as she bid the remaining employees of the chamber good night. Once inside, she carefully closed and locked the door behind her. Rushing over to Beidou, she threw her arms around her neck and pulled her in for a kiss.

“Wow. Missed you, too,” Beidou responded with a smug smirk once their lips parted.

Ningguang stole a glance at the Inazuman sweets that sat before her. “And I see you missed me as well.” She said as she gestured to the table.

“Only a little. Come on, I’ve been dying to try these with you.”

Beidou pulled the chair out for Ningguang to sit and pushed her toward the table before joining her.

“A toast to making it back to me in one piece,” Ningguang declared as she raised her glass.

“You know I’ll always find a way. If I didn’t, you’d probably come after whatever took me down,” Beidou teased with a wink as she did the same.

They clinked their glasses together, and as Ningguang brought it to her lips, she caught a whiff of the sweet musk of the ocean. The drink tasted more…salty than she had expected. Somehow, she knew this flavor, but couldn’t quite place where she’d had it before.

“Beidou…this wine. Where did you acquire it?” Ningguang asked.

“Oh, just a little shop in Inazuma. I think it was new. Hadn’t ever seen it before.”

“That’s strange. I know I’ve tasted this before, but for the life of me, I can’t recall where,” Ningguang pondered.

“Really? I was just thinking the same thing,” Beidou responded nonchalantly. Being a heavy drinker who partook of many an alcoholic specialty no matter where she went, this wasn’t all that surprising.

“It’s a tad bitter and salty…a bit unusual for wine, wouldn’t you say?” Ningguang questioned as she brought the glass to her lips once again.

Beidou shook her head in the negative. “What? Ning are we even drinking the same beverage here? It’s sweet. Like, almost honey flavored.” Beidou laughed it off and chalked it up to the strength of the drink. “Here, try a chocolate.” Grabbing the treat labeled “sexy,” she put it up to her partner’s lips. Ningguang looked at her seductively before slowly taking a bite.

“So? Verdict?” Beidou asked.

“Beidou, I swear this also tastes salty,” Ningguang replied as she ate two more to make sure she wasn’t going crazy.

“Are you serious? Salty?” Beidou placed the other half of the bitten chocolate into her own mouth. “You’re going mad. This tastes like honey, too.” They made their way through the box as they playfully fought a verbal battle over flavors.

Ningguang felt her cheeks flush. She watched rapt as Beidou licked her fingers clean. All she could think about was how she wanted her mouth on her and her tongue in her. Lost in her fantasy, she pretended to listen as Beidou droned on about her travels.

Beidou looked into the scarlet eyes across from her. She stopped mid-sentence, completely forgetting what she was in the process of saying, and instead pictured herself running her hands through Ningguang’s hair and hearing her gasp her name. Her desire was building quickly.

“Sorry, where was I? Oh yea…” She was trying to keep herself in control by talking about anything and everything. Suddenly she realized Ningguang was flushed in the face and felt her rubbing her legs together under the table.

Ningguang leaned forward and walked two fingers up Beidou’s toned arms. Then grabbing her arm and playfully squeezing her muscles.

“You’re so strong, my captain,” Ningguang expressed.

“Haha…uh, thank you? Baobei, are you alright? Are ya really that drunk off one glass?” Beidou asked.

“Yes, yes, I’m fine, I assure you.” Her eyes told a different story. “May I have some more?” She asked as she moved her foot to slide up and down Beidou’s leg.

As Beidou moved to pour her another glass, Ningguang’s eyes grew wide. Grabbing the bottle from her, she double-checked the label.

“Beidou, are you blind?!” Before Beidou could make the obvious witty remark, Ningguang exclaimed, “This wine is an aphrodisiac!”

“Ok, that’s enough alcohol for you, my dear,” she said as she yanked the bottle back toward herself.

“It’s literally in the name!” She picked up the box the chocolates had come in and saw the Lovesick label. “Beidou…what did you say the name of the shop you bought these at was?”

Beidou thought for a moment before answering, “…Potions and Elixirs.”

“And you didn’t think anything odd of that? We’ve been trying to put that sorceress merchant out of business for months! This type of magic being sold to just anyone puts public safety at risk.” Ningguang had her hand to her head. She would be livid right now, but her mind was clouded and her body wouldn’t stop tingling.

“Shit! Baobei, I’m so sorry. I should have been more cautious. I-“

“See! This is why we couldn’t agree on the flavor,” Ningguang interrupted. She flashed the back of the label at her, and Beidou saw it stated the taste of both the wine and chocolates together depends on the couple consuming it. As Ningguang flipped the box over, she saw the slogan “the essence of your lover” written across it in Inazuman-style script.

Beidou was about to apologize again when she felt Ningguang’s lips collide desperately against hers.

“Beidou, I want to be mad, but I need you. Now,” Ningguang groaned.

Hands tore ferociously at clothing, quickly ridding both of them of anything that would separate skin from skin. Beidou picked Ningguang up bridal-style and practically ran to the bed. Propping her up against the pillow, she brought Ningguang’s legs over hers as they faced one another. Their tongues clashed as Beidou moved one of her hands to Ningguang’s breast and pinched and pulled on her nipple.

“Ahhhh!” Ningguang gasped.

The aphrodisiac made every touch feel orgasmic in and of itself. Every kiss, caress, and breath sent shivers down their spines and caused goosebumps to form on their skin.

As Beidou kneaded both of Ningguang’s breasts, she used her electro ability to slowly pulse against her as she slid one hand down her body. Ningguang grabbed the hand caressing her body and placed it on Beidou’s own breast. Feeling the electric throb through her as well she yelped, “Fuck, Ning!”

Leaning into Beidou, she kissed her shoulder. Licking the area before sinking her teeth into the already scarred flesh, Ningguang added her own mark to her body’s story.

Ningguang’s hand descended to Beidou’s entrance, her fingers sliding up and down her wet folds with ease. Coated with Beidou’s arousal, she brought them to her mouth and tasted them.

“Well, that explains the saltiness,” Ningguang mused.

Beidou growled in response. With her electro ability still coursing through her hands, she grabbed Ningguang by the chin and pulled her in to taste herself.

“So that’s what the ocean tastes like,” Beidou joked.

Returning the favor, her hand drifted between Ningguang’s legs before sliding a finger into her. Her thumb grazed across her clit before she added a second.

Ningguang took in the stimulation and let her head roll back for a moment. When she regained control, she mirrored Beidou’s actions, the two now pumping in rhythm with one another.

Legs shook and toes curled as they both shattered at the same time. Ningguang fell back against the pillows behind her. Removing her slick-coated fingers, Beidou drew them to her mouth and licked them clean. “Mmm, sweet like honey. Just how I like it,” she smirked.

Untangling herself from Ningguang, she moved to lay next to her and pulled her flush against her.

“Perhaps this product isn’t such a bad idea. However, it should definitely be regulated. I’ll talk to Yanfei in the morning,” Ningguang pondered with a yawn.

Beidou kissed her forehead and chuckled softly in response. “Man, everything goes back to business with you, huh?”

Get To Know My OC

I saw this game going around, and I thought I'd join the fun! A few posts had an open tag, so here I am! I'm going to leave this an open tag for any of my followers as well (or anyone who sees this)

Choosing just one character is so hard... I think for now, I'll go with one of my favorites, Matthias Winterborne. He's not currently in any WIP, just an extra (DnD) character for now.

I sit in the local alehouse waiting for our new party member. He's supposedly very closed off, so I plan on asking loose questions today. Hopefully he takes them well. I look around for the person that was described to me: a young adult half-elf, tan skin, very short white hair, somewhat short for his race. And sure enough, he comes through the doors. I flag him down and we sit at one of the corner tables. I notice he's wearing a very nice looking pendant necklace. It's circular, with a crescent moon on the left and little snowflakes dotted around the rest.

"So, ready to start?" I ask.

He leans back in his seat, crosses his arms, and shrugs. "I don't see why not."

1. Are you named after anyone?

He scoffs. "First name, no. Not that I'm aware of. Last name, well, surely you've heard of my father: the great Elduin Winterborne, the Stellara's finest ranger." He makes a dramatic gesture with his hand as he says this. "My mother decided to give me his last name even though they were never married." "So why keep the name?" "To tarnish it," he says with a grin. I decide not to press further.

2. When was the last time you cried?

He furrows his brow a little. "Why is this pertinent information?" "It's not. Just looking for some honesty." "...Can I obstain?" "Yes you can." "Good."

3. Do you have kids?

"Nope. I don't have that sort of attachment, if that's what you're wondering."

4. Do you use sarcasm?

He smirks and tilts his head. "What's that?" I begin to wonder why my friend recommended this guy...

5. What's the first thing you notice about people?

"Honestly, either wealth or if they're safe to interact with." Ah, that explains it. Well, let's hope he's good at what he does.

6. What's your eye color?

He rolls his eyes. "I thought this was going to be a lot more serious." "I wanted to ease any tensions first. To let you know we're not out for secrets or anything. We don't care about that sort of stuff as long as we know we can trust you." "...But out of all questions.." "Okay fine, here. How about this?" (Note: they're a very light blue)

7. Scary stories (movies) or happy endings?

He thinks for a moment. "I don't mind a good ghost story every once in a while. Don't really care for sappy stuff, but if it's interesting, I'll hear the tale out. I'm much more interested in legends and myths more than anything."

8. Any special talents?

He grins again. "Now we're talking. I consider myself quite skilled at twisting words, bending rules, that sort of thing. I've also become quite good at making escapes when needed." "Duly noted."

9. Where were you born?

"Just a skimpy little village on the outskirts of the high elven kingdom. Surprisingly mostly comprised of humans, and the occasional goblin. They're nice enough people if you can believe it."

10. What are your hobbies?

"Eh, gambling mostly. I do enjoy dancing every now and then." "So keep you away from our money, good to know." "I'll have you know I'm very good at it." "So says your wanted posters in the next town over." "...Next question."

11. Have you any pets?

"I wish. I'd like a dog or a fox of some sort."

12. What sports do you play/have played?

"I like to take on a round or two of fencing. I prefer saber over the other two."

13. How tall are you?

He takes a somewhat sharp inhale. "Now you're just being insulting." I take a grin now. "It's just a simple question." "...Don't see why it's important." "Honesty." He sighs and rolls his eyes. "...5' 8".."

14. Favorite subject in school?

"Well I didn't go to an actual school, I was taught those sort of things by my mother and the other villagers. I can't really remember what I liked most... Perhaps reading literature."

15. Dream job?

"...Not really sure. I never liked actual work. I didn't mind wood working, I suppose." "Well, I appreciate you being cooperative. It was a pleasure to get to know you. I hope we'll work well in the coming months." "Months?? That's how long this is going to take?" "Hopefully not, but you never know." He lets out a sigh. "Well, as long as I'm getting paid what I'm due."

Your Family Doesn’t Approve of Your Dating Them

You're family would be fine if you were dating anyone else, they might even be fine if you were dating any other Weasley, it's the fact that it's Fred they don't approve of. They've always held you to high standards, always set their expectations high. There's been a pressure on you to graduate from Hogwarts with top marks, get a high profile job somewhere within the ministry, and make a name for yourself. Fred has a reputation for being a trouble-maker, for being a prankster. It doesn't necessarily help that he and George dropped out to start their own business, something which you'd thought your family might have found admirable and instead only looked so far into the fact that he'd never graduated. They assume, although there's been heavy evidence to the contrary, that he's a bad influence on you. Still you care about Fred and despite your family not approving you won't be ending the relationship any time soon. No matter what they think you're going to try and get them to come around and hopefully see Fred with the same love and respect that you do.

You're not quite certain just why your family doesn't approve of your relationship with Severus. Perhaps they remember him from your days at Hogwarts together although he was two years ahead of you at that time and you had very minor interactions with him. Maybe they still hold his actions during the war against him, actions that you've come to understand from his point of view. You knew who you were dating and what you were getting into with the beginning of the relationship but you had assumed it would be outside parties that were pertinent judges rather than your family. You suppose it would be worth it to attempt to make them see him from your perspective but Severus accepts it and so, at his request, do you. He knows what people think of him but he's had time to get over that. What matters most to him is how you feel about him. Although your family is a part of your life you know that by letting them dictate who you should and shouldn't date you're giving them more control over your life than is necessary.

It was disappointing to find that your family didn't approve of Remus, especially as they had been receptive to your dating him at first. He had shared with you that he was a werewolf first thing in his relationship, unsure of if you would find out on your own or how it would affect the nature of your relationship down the line. He knew it was a risk in confessing but still he cared about you and wanted to be honest. With how serious the two of you had become in the months since you'd started dating you felt that it was important your family know this secret as well. Only once you'd come out with the truth they effectively began insisting that you cut off all contact with Remus. Your family seemed to believe that he would harm you, that he might turn you, that he was a danger to others, everything they knew about Remus had been eclipsed by his being a werewolf. It hurt and it hurt even more to know that this wasn't anything new for Remus, it was a common treatment of all werewolves. Your family was your family but you refused to give them enough emotional weight to make decisions regarding your dating life or your love for Remus.

You've seen change in Draco Malfoy. Your family has not. They judge him not by his own actions but for the actions of his family, for their being Death Eaters. While you could understand and forgive it if they continued to despise Draco's own family you can't quite comprehend why they refuse approval of your relationship with Draco himself. Every story that you've told has shown him in a different light and the stories are not lies, they are not half truths, he has seen what his family has become and wants no part of their beliefs. You love Draco, you see the best in him and want only for others to see it to. Your family sees him as a Death Eater, not keeping in mind that he has renounced all that and separated himself from the entire Malfoy family. In fact although he hasn't told you, you're pretty certain that at this point you might be the only family that Draco really has left. While can't fault your family for their thoughts on Death Eaters you can fault them for their thoughts on Draco and you'll continue working to make certain that they see him in the way you do.

Almost a full year later, we are not really sure if this onslaught of new followers is due to current Twitter issues, or Riot’s new q/a-merch drops - but we still feel a bit overwhelmed by the new numbers, glad that SO many of you appreciate the ease of these fic-post notifications flowing freely over your dashboards. The point of this place was the convenience, as well as to connect all those talents out there to a hopefully wider audience - while at the same time sparing everyone from the problematic stuff also being written/posted - that most of us would like to avoid.

This is still  the same old place, with same old goals – but for all the new followers out there (which, WELCOME! ✨) here’s a little update of our house rules:

CONTENT: Even between more of us now, it is still physically impossible to read everything, so we can not offer guarantees about any content quality. But it goes without saying that, based on what’s presented from descriptions and the tags - it’s your choice to peruse, or respectfully move on. It is the responsibility of both author and the reader - the first one of creating the content (and of course marking/tagging it appropriately) and the latter one making their own choice about consuming and engaging. 

TAGS: To prevent any unpleasant situations, ALL posted fics must have pertinent, unambiguous tags - main, as well as all the additional ones. The content itself is naturally writer’s prerogative, but the issue of the reader’s choice to engage or not is also non-negotiable (so no, vague little acronyms not familiar to those who do not browse Craigslist personals are not enough) and then everything is simple: if forewarned about the content, one can still choose to give it a shot (and be hopefully pleasantly surprised) or not. Insufficient or inappropriate tagging may lead to misunderstandings and/or dismay, and that’s exactly why everyone out there usually does abide to the common tagging courtesies. On the other hand, if a fic has been tagged with something possibly problematic only as an act of cautiousness - while it does not really contain any actual content like that - it might still be posted, upon careful screening. In that case, all readers are still advised to use their blacklists.

BLACKLISTS: People create these spaces to present their content and all the safewords and blacklists are unfortunately a necessity, ultimately to protect ourselves as well as everyone else. As stated in the initial post - we will be filtering all extreme content (rape, underage, gore, incest, beast, etc) but please use your own regular blacklists for anything else. If there are any other discrepancies or inconsistencies to this rule, please inform us and we shall review accordingly. 

ANONYMOUS FICS: This blog will not waste time screening explicit/dd “Anonymous” fics, nor posting them. Because if someone refuses to put their name on it it’s usually for dubious reasons - so why should we?

DISCUSSIONS: Not really here to facilitate discussions (be it about systemic issues, encroaching the spaces of others - or authorial egos and other similar nonsense) nor to arbitrate personal issues and conflicts - this page is here ONLY for the fanfiction, good vibes and (hopefully great) stories about the characters we all love. So if you feel inclined to, only fanfiction reviews, recommendations, questions, suggestions and proposals will be (wholeheartedly! :) encouraged.

What Is a Red Herring in Writing?

refers to a misleading, or false, clue

common literary device used in mysteries and thrillers that can lead readers down a false path or otherwise distract them from what’s really going on in the plot

a writer often includes details added to purposefully mislead readers and lay a false trail. This prevents them from predicting an outcome

red herring can also be a powerful way to engage a reader’s interest, by hinting at explanations that may not be true

Is A Red Herring a Logical Fallacy?

Red herrings are examples of informal fallacies, rather than formal fallacies

An informal fallacy means that an argument has a flaw in reasoning rather than logic

All red herrings are examples of irrelevant distractions—not examples of flawed logic

What Is the Difference Between Red Herring and Other Fallacies?

There are other types of common informal fallacies. Here are two that are most like a red herring fallacy.

Straw man. A straw man argument is one in which you distort, exaggerate, or mischaracterize your opponent’s stance so that you can create a stronger position for yourself in a debate. Unlike the straw man, a red herring does not distort reality, only misinterprets it. Red herrings are seemingly plausible, but ultimately irrelevant.

Non sequitur. Making a jump in your argument, so that what you are saying has no connection to what came before it, and is irrelevant. This has most in common with the red herring fallacy—a non sequitur is irrelevant information that can create a distraction, but isn’t pertinent to the issue at hand.

What are the Origins of the Red Herring in Literature?

William Cobbett is credited with originating the term “red herring” in an 1807 story

Cobbett criticized the press for prematurely reporting Napoleon’s defeat, and compared that act to using strong-smelling, smoked red herrings to distract dogs from another scent

Examples of Red Herring in Literature:

Dan Brown, The DaVinci Code. Bishop Manuel Aringarosa is the story’s “red herring.” He is the head of Opus Dei, a controversial Catholic sect. Brown sets up the story to so that it looks like Aringarosa is the mastermind behind all the evil goingson; of course, it turns out someone else was pulling the strings all along

J.K. Rowling, The Prisoner of Azkaban. Harry Potter believes Sirius Black is a dangerous criminal and murderer. Slowly, Harry learns that this man killed his parents, and that he is chasing Harry to finish the job. When Harry finally confronts Black, he learns that Sirius isn’t a killer at all. This red herring works because Harry’s perspective is naturally limited by misinformation and the fact that he’s a child—adults don’t trust him enough to tell him the truth. His relief and amazement at discovering that the supposed killer is actually his godfather is shared by the reader

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Final Problem. In this installment of the Sherlock Holmes series, Holmes and Watson are led astray by a note that says that there is a woman in need of a doctor back at their hotel. When Dr. Watson rushes off to help the woman, both heroes discover that the note was sent by their nemesis, James Moriarty. Moriarty sent the note as a red herring, with the intention of getting Holmes alone so that he could face him alone.

Hello there

So this blog has picked up a few followers now so I think it’s probably pertinent to make a little introduction.

As is hopefully obvious, this is a collection of absolutely 100% canon quotes an incorrect quotes blog for the webseries RWBY, as it’s one of my favourite shows and this just seemed like a fun thing to do to make something positive out of a now very long hiatus.

So I hope everything’s been enjoyable so far, obviously some jokes land better than others and they’re not all winners, but so far this has mainly just been me posting what I think is funny.

And on that note, I don’t know how aware anyone following this blog is, but the ask and submission boxes are open, and anyone is free to submit quotes they think would be funny for the blog if they want - just in text, I can handle the image side of things. All I ask is that if you do so, you give the original source for the quote, for tagging purposes mainly - also assign characters to the quote if you like, that would definitely help me because I know I can’t think of every one of them and I think I’m already using the same characters over and over for these things.

You gay bitch. I’m in.

Bloodhound & Loba: Bloodhound has always liked Bangalore, they find her enthusiasm for firearms both useful and amusing, and they respect each other’s want for privacy in their personal lives. That said, there was always a sadness around her. When Loba got added to the equation she agreed that she worried about her, “because we have issues, but we also have hobbies.” It’s when they look in the firing range one day and catch Horizon kissing her, and see the lovestruck look on her face, that the two legends feel their friend will be alright.

Gibraltar: He’s been drinking buddies with Bangalore for years and always teased her about pretty girls that would walk by ‘cause she was like a teenager, just stuttering and blushing and immediately changing the subject. He was 99 percent sure if she ever tried to ask a girl out she’d faint before she finished saying “hi”. So going out to get drinks and finding Horizon and her arm in arm prompted shocked laughter, a great amount of teasing from him and Horizon to the point Bangalore buried her face in the bar, and a round of drinks on him.

Lifeline: Horizon seemed so intensely focused on her son she’s surprised when the woman mentions, casually, that she had a date that night. When she further elaborates that it’s Bangalore, she’s even more surprised since, in her mind, Bangalore is kind of an ass. Still, as weeks pass and Bangalore becomes less and less surly, she decides sometimes the perfect medicine for asshole is just a daily spoonful of sweetheart.

Pathfinder: After seeing friend Bangalore cry twice in one hour that one time, he is very happy that she has found someone so she maybe won’t have to do that again the next time someone digs into her intensely conflicted and emotional past!

Wraith: When she finds a small note apologizing for “maybe overstepping a boundary” from Bangalore in her dorm, the voices tell her something is up. At first, she thinks it’s an elaborate assassination attempt, and then she thinks Bang is just fucking with her, and then she realizes Bangalore’s been a lot happier lately, so there’s some kind of connection between that and this. Then she sees Bang leave an orchid with a bow on Horizon’s desk and realizes the connection. She concludes she and Bangalore can talk (and they do, and things are a lot less tense afterward).

Bangalore: Girl!!! Like me??? Girl!!! AHHHHHHH. Then she’s laying back in bed watching Horizon use one of her gravity pads to put Christmas lights along the rim of the ceiling and thanking God quietly in her head. It breaks her heart to think about what’ll happen when Horizon finally finds her way home, and when she hopefully finds her own, but if she’s learned anything over the years, it’s to treasure the sun before it sets.

Caustic: Raises eyebrows, nothing more. Bangalore is a competent teammate, and Horizon is an admirable scientific and intellectual equal, despite their disagreements on morality. Perhaps some interesting data changes will occur in the games with the partnership. Perhaps he’ll get more coffee. It has about the same pertinence in his life.

Mirage: He is super excited for Horizon, who visits the Paradise Lounge to talk sometimes (which he totally doesn’t spend fan-boying). She just seems so much more lively and bubbly than she already is and, well, damn, one of the Legendary Sad Sacks has to have something going for them other than a tragic backstory. He is surprised it’s Bangalore, though, cause he was pretty sure, like pretty-pretty? sure Loba had a thing for Mary, except maybe it was the new Valkyrie girl, or maybe Valkyrie had a thing for Loba and Loba had a thing for Bangalore? Wait, where was he going with this? Eh, he’ll just give Horizon a congratulatory beer and give Bang shit for it later ‘cause there was no way Horizon would let Bang coat his gym bag in prowler pheromones, right?...Right?

Octane: Lifeline tells him. He says, “yo, think getting laid will make Bang less of a tight ass?” He then recalls being thrown and waking up in the infirmary. Bangalore had been behind him the whole time. He was 100% correct, though.

Wattson: Horizon invited her over to do a dual experiment. She walked in when Bangalore was coming out of the shower, naked. She put two and two together and quizzed Horizon about all the little details while Bangalore made herself decent. She’d always known Bangalore as a little standoffish and anti-social, though sweet, so she excitedly congratulates her as well when she gets out. When their 1yr anniversary approaches, Bangalore asks if Wattson can help her make a little custom Nessie with a tiny star projector in it for Horizon and Wattson is only happy to oblige.

Crypto: He knew before everyone else because of his snooping through the Syndicate security camera detail, unwittingly seeing their first kiss almost in a camera blind spot in one of the corridors. He’s caught them hugging, kissing, and cuddling in various alcoves and corners and always quietly erases the footage for them, though says nothing. He’s just glad somebody on the dropship doesn’t hate their life.

Revenant: Didn’t know, didn’t care, vaguely threatened Horizon in front of Bangalore for funsies. He woke up in one of his other bodies a while later with an ache in his gut where she’d, apparently, severed one of his main sets of tubing. He tried to eviscerate her in the Games after that, but Horizon got him with a peacekeeper. He tried going for Horizon and suddenly there was Bangalore, and he was waking up in a new body again. He decided they weren’t worth it. Though he could have totally taken them on. Just didn’t want to.

Rampart: She gives Bangalore constant shit. Makes kissy faces, asks how her giiiiiiiirlfriend is doing in a sing-song voice, pokes her when Horizon is in sight, has sang the “Anita and Mary sittin’ in a tree” rhyme more than once, which usually makes Horizon laugh and Bang chase her. But she’s also usually the one Bangalore talks to casually about it the most, besides Loba, and thinks Horizon is good for her and, truthfully, that Bang is good for Horizon, too.

Horizon: It took her a while to admit the feelings to herself since her relationships have a history of not working out, and that she sort of had a time limit on how long she’d even be in this century. But the heart wants what it wants, and Horizon is a romantic at her core. Bangalore was initially extremely oblivious but once she said, “I like you darlin’, but I mean that in the gayest way possible” she got the memo and turned out to be a bit of a romantic herself. She feels like Bangalore keeps her grounded, out of her own head when it keeps running on the hamster wheel to nowhere. And even though the woman has like, 3 braincells some days, she loves her. One of her favorite things is when Bangalore sings in the shower, but she’s never told her that.

Fuse: He doesn’t know either very well, but he thinks they look good together. He and Horizon will go drinking sometimes, now it just involves Bangalore as well, and sometimes Gibraltar and Rampart if they tag along. But in general they’re not a couple of pikers* so they’re A-OK in his book.

Valkyrie: When they are all on a team together, she thinks it’s HILARIOUS to shout, “LET’S GO LESBIANS!” before charging another team or third-partying. Horizon and Bangalore also find it pretty funny, but neither has ever given Valkyrie the satisfaction.

*Apparently Australian slang for couples that leave parties early/boring couples. I just googled it don’t @ me

Making an Offering Box for your Dragon Companions

I've noticed that my posts about working with dragons have gotten a bit of (way random but very appreciated) attention, so I wanted to share the offering box I made for my dragon spirit companions a while back. My intent for this post is to model how simple it was, and hopefully inspire you to make your own dragon box as an offering for your own dragon spirit companions! The best part is that I think this project is pertinent whether you're a seasoned practitioner or a novice trying to start working with dragons for the first time in your practice!

🐉 The box itself was from a Betsey Johnson watch I had previously gotten. It's cute, sturdy, and works well for this purpose.

🐉 I decorated it with a sticker from the tattoo shop my bf used to work at because it reminded me of dragons.

🐉 I added green stick-on gemstones. You can find these for super cheap in practically whatever color you'd like.

so you can see that part took all of 3 fucking seconds and costed very little, since I already had all the supplies onhand. So work with what you have! And if you don't have what you're looking for to use for this project, hit up your local secondhand/thrift store- I can almost gurantee they will have really neat looking boxes and trinkets for this project for very affordable prices! The dollar store usually has those stick on gemstones too if you want those for your dragon box. Go as simple or intricate as you'd like! You can even paint it with your dragon companions' names and cool designs or sigils to add extra energy!

🐉I added a layer of moss because I think it looks neat and ties everything together aesthetically. I'm pretty sure they even sell moss at the dollar store in the flower or craft sections.

🗝I added a key because dragons LOVE all sorts of shiny and treasure-like objects. Keys also have a very rich symbolic component. I think I got mine at the craft store.

💎Stones/crystals! I always love putting cool rocks I find on my dragon altar because they enjoy them, so I wanted to do the same for this box. One of the stones I added is atlantisite, which contains serpentine AKA dragonstone. Dragons love anything named after them (my UPG, which you can apply to all this info actually)which brings me to....

🍃Sage coated with dragon's blood resin. This stuff is POTENT AF.

🌶Dried Pepper to symbolize the fire element and add potency to this overall offering🔥
