i think the main character that differs transmisogyny from transphobia + misogyny, is the goal.
trans masculine individuals experience what we'll call "corrective misogyny", where they experience a derision of their chosen gender in an attempt to push them back into the class of [cis]woman this is transphobia + misogyny.
People I think confuse this with transmisogyny because it involves transphobia and misogyny, but transmisogyny is not "corrective". The point of transmisogyny is to push trans feminine individuals out of both the class of man and woman, into a gender underclass, a subaltern as some have called it. There is no premise of "rescuing" trans women. trans men are abused in attempt to bring them back into the protected underclass of women, while trans women are abused in an attempt at the opposite, the intent is explicitly to push us out of all protected classes.

I absolutely love punkflower, I was able to watch the atsv again, and I just love their dynamic! The whole epic cool guy falls in love with a dorky dude who says no to letting things just happen. It's adorable! I'm so bad at explaining my thoughts, but I love them so much! Also random, but I just love how stimulating atsv is! Everything is just so in your face!/pos

Yeah, Kipperlily totally lived up to that part of Aguefort where they tell you to murder two of your classmates.
lol. lmao even.
did you read the part where i said her problem was being a villain. or my tags where i specifically mentioned that:
Tumblr media
my point is not that kipperlilly was unfairly judged. she's for sure evil! i just think the criticism of her doing things in a "boring way" or not in the spirit of aguefort is pretty inaccurate. the way she did things was just as violent and unhinged as any student. but she did it to betray her party and bring about an apocalypse!! THATS why she's a villain, not because she was a lunatic.
xp farming isn't in the spirit of aguefort but that's not what brennan focused on in that send-off speech. he specifically focused on how batshit crazy and violent these kids are. which i think also describes kipperlilly! minus the heroism part of course. but he didn't talk about how she was selfish or evil or backstabbing. he didn't describe the importance of teamwork or saving the world or experience with adventuring. he highlighted the one part of the aguefort ethos that kipperlilly actually succeeds at.
murph talked about "no practical application" which is completely spot on! she didn't have real world experience so she got bodied.
to me it just felt weird for her final moments to be narrated like that. leveling the one criticism that i personally think least applies to her.

(You liked one of my posts about questioning trans and this is how I looked at my phone when I got the notification)
oop, i do be wandering tumblr and liking stuff
Hopefully my liking the post isn't something that'll feel like pressuring
i think it's ultimately a decision only you can make, and to take the time you need to be at terms with it
With some people it takes a very short time, like it just suddenly falls into place
With others, it takes quite a while of tossing the thoughts around before knowing enough if it's a path to be taken or not

Have you drank enough?
Have you eaten enough?
Have you brushed your teeth today?
Something good about today?
Something bad about today?
Anything you want to say?
Are you okay?
hii
today I had lots of water (I was out in the sun a bunch)
And I think I have eaten enough, I’m finally getting to a normaler schedule :)
I got to see some of my friends from band (band camp was today)- that was good and fun
It was so hot- I honestly was a bit dizzy a few times. But I’m ok, and yes I had plenty of water- dizziness just happens to me 🤷. Also my knee was hurting really badly at one point but I’m fine now :)
thank you for checking in on me- it means a lot :))
I’m ok- enough not to worry about me :)

As someone who knows approximately Nothing about neopets, whats the deal with "converted" and "unconverted" stuff? From my limited observation, it seems like neopets used to have unique artwork for every ¿form? of a neopet and then... got rid of them all? Except some of them? Why??The unique art always looks so dynamic, too, even if its got irregularities...
Alright I'll do my best to explain this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So pre-2007 all Neopets had a variety of poses, shown above. For most colours these poses were standardized; however, for certain colours, the poses would be completely redrawn to be unique.
In 2007, the ability to dress up your pets, i.e., customization, was introduced. However, the drawback was that all pets were redrawn to have a single standardized pose. While less of a problem for the pets who had the default poses, it was a bigger issue for the colours with unique art.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If your pet was painted one of these special colours before customization hit, you would be granted the ability to keep the pose the same (note that this was only available for select species + colour combos, and it only used the "happy" pose instead of all of them). These pets were known as "unconverted" (UC) pets. Because this was something a pet had to be grandfathered into, the amount of UC pets became scarce and they became increasingly valuable and sought-after over time, making it harder and harder to trade for one.
Finally, TNT (note: the current company that owns Neopets is different than the company that owned it when customization became a thing) retired UC pets in favor of pet styles this year. These are effectively skins you can buy with real-world money that give your pet UC art, as well as old art and poses that weren't previously available after the conversion. All former UC pets were changed into NC styles, which basically didn't effect anything other than making the UC/pre-conversion art much more accessible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(From left to right: converted faerie Blumaroo, active; UC faerie Blumaroo, retired; and styled faerie Blumaroo, active. Note that the styled version's thicker lineart is more accurate to the original pre-conversion pose.)

Snake I have an important question
For the ending... are the Grace and Fury! Duo dead? Or did they just lost their physical form?
Sorry for a bit if a dumb and weird ask... I have a silly idea coming up-
Sorry for a bit of a non-answer, but… that’s entirely up to interpretation! I wanted to preserve some of the ambiguity the canon ending has. So it could be any of a few things. They aren’t straight-up dead, at least not fully. Could be half-sentient, asleep but dreaming like some lovecraftian god, non-corporeal but alive, turned into a force/concept with no real physical manifestation (like death or nature), physically turned into a new planet/world so they technically underly all of existence and therefore are just barely sentient but immovable and unchanging, whatever. We only know one thing for certain.
Edda is holding Aven, and Aven is holding Edda.
And they’re happy with that.

How does the romantic relationship between Val and Aenys and Val and Gaemon differ?
hmmmm how best to explain this
aenys loves, but he doesn’t genuinely love easily. what aenys and valerion have leans more on the possessive-lust side. if valerion was around to visit, they’d mess around a bit bc they bring out each others impulsive sides. valerion is curious in nature and aenys thinks val is his cute little brother. they love and respect each other but their aren’t in love per-say? like if they got married, they’d be fine but they’d probably buttheads because they both take after aemond personality wise.
gaemon, on the otherhand, genuinely loves valerion and wants him happiest. gaemon is pretty territorial of valerion and his little sisters cuz he feels like THE big brother to them. since the eldest three are all obviously older and closer in age, gaemon feels responsible for the younger ones. gaemon will always look out for val but gets annoyed at the thought that valerion could humor anyone besides him because gaemon knows val the best.
to put it simply, if aenys and valerion got into a fight, valerion would storm off and aenys would just get annoyed. if gaemon and valerion got into a fight, val would storm off but gaemon would follow.

i’ve seen ur posts against the SAM but i’m a bit confused about something. some people’s romantic attraction is definitively separate from their sexual attraction, what are your opinions in that scenario? as an example, an aromantic person may not feel any romantic attraction ever, but they may be sexually attracted to many people. how would they fit into your view?
That's called a preference.
Are you a man who's attracted to men, want to date them, but not have sex? Congrats. Your gay, you just don't like sex. Sex is an action. It doesn't determine your attraction (tho having sex with people you aren't attracted to or just to "please your partner" is linked to a LOT of mental health issues. Please be safe).
Are you a man who's attracted to men, don't want to date them, just have sex? Congrats. You're gay, you just aren't interested in dating. Dating is an action. It doesn't determine your attracted (tho again. Please be safe. Dating someone you don't actually want to date makes both parties resent each other).
Attraction is just that. Attraction. And when it comes to sexuality, all that is important is WHO. What you are interested in doing with them is a preference.
Trying to define a preference as a sexuality leads to a slippery slope. Since as a crush progresses what you want in the relationship may change. As you change as a person, what you want to do with someone may change. Making a preference a sexuality implies sexuality can change. And that is just kindling for homophobic remarks.
I understand the struggle of trying to find a partner when you know sex will never be on the table. You want to be upfront about it, but not have to describe things over and over. Having a label is helpful. I get it. But you can describe being sex adverse without it being a whole separate sexuality.
If we came up with a new sexuality for anything and everything that makes finding a partner there would be so many words none of them would matter. You'd have to explain the word every time you used it cuz no one can remember that much. Not to mention, again, preferences end up in a gray area. Is kissing sexual or romantic? I'd argue it's both, while also being able to be neither. Cuz it's based on context. It's a gray area. So if I tried to define my sexuality as wanting to have sex but not date by using aromatic-- to me it might mean we can kiss. But to someone else, kissing might not be included. Maybe to them its only the specific act of sex, which doesnt technically include kissing. So then you end up having to explain what the word means anyways even tho the whole point was so you wouldn't have to.
Cuz at the end of the day, you do have to describe your preferences outright. There isn't going to be a word that always perfectly describes your preferences. Unfortunately, cuz I get it's annoying. But once a "sexuality" has to be described in depth for what it "means for you" it no longer functions as a sexuality. Cuz these are words to help form communities. And communities form by being specific enough to not include everyone but broad enough to actually include enough people to form a meaningful group that can pull resources and help each other.
Please also remember this is just my opinion on this topic as someone who's had experience using the split attraction model and heard story after story of it causing harm to people. I'm not the head speaker of any group. Nor do I speak for any community. If you disagree that's fine. It's important everyone be able to form their own opinions even if we disagree.

I don't know how much you wanna answer hotd-specific question re Aegon: but I'm really curious; do you think Aegon and Leanor are foils and/or paralells/echoes? Is there anything to go by from the book? They tweaked hotd-Leanor into a warrior (probably to avoid effeminate gay man trope allegations) and book-Aegon (and hotd-Aegon for that matter) are both un-warrior like. Leanor forced to leave, leaving behind his dragon and family; Aegon forced/wanting to leave, leaving behind his dragon and family. Ofc there's also the corny Helaena's bastards theory for the show.
Anyways do you see anything substantial in Aegon and Leanor as foils/paralells/echoes?
Hi Anon, this is a really interesting idea and I see what you mean. There are more similarities between show!Laenor and show!Aegon than their book counterparts, but there is definitely a certain irony in the books to the fact that Laenor has a more legally solid (insofar as such a thing exists) claim to the throne, but he is passed over because his claim derives from the female line, and Aegon has the more legally solid claim to the throne, and he is passed over in favor of a woman. Both of them are also pushed into positions not of their choosing, and ultimately die because of those positions, betrayed by people close to them. In the show, you have their chosen coping mechanisms, alcoholism and sex, and their desire to be anywhere but here at pretty much all times, which they each ultimately act or attempt to act upon.
That said, I don't know if there's so much an intentional parallel between Laenor and Aegon specifically as there is a fairly consistent running theme throughout the entirety of f&b and asoiaf that a person's proximity to the throne is directly proportional to a person's misery (the show actually sort of fumbles this theme in letting Laenor get away, imo). Laenor's troubles start when he marries Rhaenyra; Aegon's start when he is born, because the closer you are to the throne, the more you are destined to suffer. The question becomes then, how many people do you drag along with you? Do you drag your kids? Your brothers and sisters? An entire realm? But the throne is a miserable thing that no one should desire, and those who actively desire it often suffer the most (notice how as soon as Rhaenyra and Aegon go from passive proximity to the throne-- and active disdain for it in Aegon's case-- to active pursuit, their suffering ramps up).
I think the show just has a kind of limited range when it comes to showing what misery looks like, and when it comes to men, the writers (and GRRM himself to an extent) tend to fall back on hedonism and violence as expressions of suffering. Laenor and Aegon are both reflections of a broader theme and of the ways the writers have chosen to express that theme, but imo they are not necessarily specifically narratively related in and of themselves as individual characters.

hi i just played the demo and i’m just asking for clarification! but will we have the option to be strictly monogamous with valentina? the conversation with hana where she talks about wanting her to care makes it seem like we’ll be in a v poly relationship. will there be a conversation between all parties if that’s the case?
you can be monogamous!
it's just... complicated. Hana and Valentina do have a bit of a situationship, but Hana is very aware that a lot of the physical and romantic aspects of their relationship were temporary/Valentina just needing someone to fill the space that mc left behind.
that's what Hana is talking about in that conversation. when she says she wants Valentina to care about her, it's that she doesn't want to just be discarded now that mc is back. she wants both mc and Valentina to acknowledge her as her own person, separate from mc, and she wants to be cared for as her own person now, wether as a lover or a friend. she just wants to be an equal.

Part two Beware spoilers for life on mars series one and two
Hello, hello, hello (some brainrotted fellows will understand this reference) Welcome to another edition of
*me rambling at you about life on mars (the UK version)*
Most important thing: this is my interpretation/analysis.
So, these are my personal, quite uneducated opinions. Also: I bought the series on DVD. No one will be safe.
Today, we'll be talking about the usage of colours in lom in general. If I do start and finish a rewatch and find some interesting scenes – I will add my commentary on them.
Like I already said many times before – there aren’t really many scenes in 2006/2007.
The shooting script of the first episode (I found it while floundering around on the waybackmachine) originally includes a scene in Sam and Maya’s appartement. (Context my beloved: Sammy boy is being kind of an ass, too busy with his job to solve his issues with Maya. She attempts talking to him but fails. I don’t know why they deleted it, because it would have really provided more context to their relationship and – most importantly, for my cause, a sneak peek of their apartment – I imagine it as very clean and kind of impersonal, a few personal touches, Maya’s attempt to brighten up the place. I think they’re both really busy, they started decorating but then Sam became DCI and he got too busy to use the apartment for anything except for sleeping. #Overwhelmed king)
Anyway, let’s take a look at.... a shot that to me represents a big theme of the show and some ✨️colors✨️.
After Sam gets hit by the car , he wakes up in this construction site with a poster of the soon to come high way. An image of the Future.
Tumblr media
There’s a really distinct difference between the colour palates. The “future” sky is a nice light-blue, not a cloud to be seen, with some touches of orange and green. Everything is all white, clean and perfect – and it’s all coming soon(er or later).
Of course, it’s a very idealized version of the future. Because it’s how Sam perceives it – at this point in time, he’s very desperate to return.
(Just look at the scene where he first gets contacted through the math programme through the TV. The way Sam crawls towards the TV….. SIR, YOUR ACTING CHOICES. PLEAAASEEE.)
Tumblr media
But it’s still surprisingly accurate. However, the idealistic picture of the future is quickly shattered, if you consider that – let’s squint our eyes - to see little Sam’s limp body lying on the ground. Surprisingly, in the 1970s we don’t really see a person being hit by a car (as far as I can remember - except Sam ofc)- But – let’s be honest in 1973 the streets are just every ground that is remotely driveable on.
Tumblr media
The past still contains traces of those colours, mostly orange as seen in the dirty underneath the bridge. The air is heavy and greyish, trash and building material is littered on the ground.
The only bits of white are the high-flats in the background, but they are far far away.
Those buildings and streets are still being built – everything’s in flux. Things can change. But, should they? Sam is generally really unsure in that whole department but that’s the thing about it:
We never actually find out, (side note: I haven’t yet seen ashes to ashes) if Sam’s choices actually make an impact in the present. It certainly gives you the impression – his father staying away, his mentor teaching him those lessons, Maya’s birth, etc. etc.. But does it really matter in the end?
Or is it just all in his head? Is he still Sam Tyler in a hospital bed in 2006 or is he an amnesiac Sam Williams in 1973 on an undercover operation?
In the past, there are several buildings – bound to Sam Tyler’s identity, and which I will be further explaining in another ramble.
Let’s get back to colours. Two examples where a similar concept applies: The interrogation room and the general office space of the police department.
Tumblr media
The room is flooded with light – courtesy of the huge windows (side note: privacy??? What’s that?). The situation is very transparent as the interrogation is literally being recorded. The person being interrogated has their whole support team with them, including lawyer, social worker and psychiatrist. This scenario is as by the books as you can get it.
I also really like that little shot of Sam adjusting the pens, character go brr.
Same thing in the general offices – a 2010s fever dream with all those clunky computers – which school computer lab have you magically transported me to?
Tumblr media
Imagine the absolute horror that Sam feels when he sees the past police department.
Look at it
Tumblr media
Without considering the lighting and furniture, the room looks sort of modern – it has a lot of windows and could be causing the same effect as the interrogation room on a visitor.
The officers are working diligently and carefully through every case and issue – investigating every clue and they never rest until they catch the perpetrator.
But that’s wishful thinking - In reality (at least in the past)the room is tinged with brownish yellow lighting, there’s no order to the tables, paper strewn all over the desks and even spending a second in this room will lead you to smelling like smoke for the next 55 years. I would faint. And I’m not even talking about the consequences of not being a white straight guy….
This police department doesn’t even have an interrogation room, they also rarely record any interrogations (leaving a lot of room for interpretation or using some creativity to catch the suspect or get an important lead) and mishandle, don't notice or even collect crucial evidence.
Tumblr media
In the lost and found
Even asking for a lawyer – leads to being laughed at and insulted by the literal governor of the department. It’s quite dark and very cramped – it’s quite private – so no one will notice you beating up an innocent person….
But I still feel the office feels very lived in.
Tumblr media
There’s a giant dart board, random trophies, dirty dishes strewn about… Good luck getting your case solved. Where’s the evidence that could solve your murder? It’s probably buried under some spicy magazines and a bunch of cigarette buds.
Tumblr media
For all the time the police spend at the office, they sure do know when to stop and start going to the pub.
One scene in the later seasons – in the episode about the false imprisonment of the teenager who murdered his younger girlfriend, Gene Hunt is determined to catch her killer for good. He’s made a promise to her father and he’s willing to do almost everything to make his city a safer place (any means necessary). He urges the police men to do anything they can, work day and night and not sleep a wink until they’ve put the right person in prison.
And then, he peeks at his watch and drops everything because they need to get drunk in the pub.
and that's it, hope you enjoyed :)
BONUS: have some cinematic shots
For u @roxannepolice <3
featuring: desperation, isolation and crippling loneliness

I might be miles off, but is there such thing as an archetype of a “ditzy british woman”, who likes to glam up and wear make up, loves dancing and the simple joy of pop music, and is made to believe she’s dumber than she is?
Yes, I think I see what you're referring to, specifically the chav stereotype which is heavily rooted in classism. Working class people/culture are treated with great scorn in the UK, and for years dozens of poor (in both senses) people were manipulated and financially incentivised into appearing on things like the Jeremy Kyle Show in order to be ruthlessly made fun of by the entire nation. It's absolutely sickening that this type of media was not only allowed to exist but was consumed so commonly and so gleefully-- not just working-class people but also obese people were common targets. Such blatant cruelty might be a bit less common on TV now but the cultural contempt still remains, and for myself and many others that was a normal thing to see on TV growing up. Now we have things like Love Island which have their own issues and still follow this pattern imo, more subtly but anyway.
Combine all this with cultural misogyny, and the general contempt for working-class women in the UK is through the roof. Especially ones from certain regions of the UK, which also has a lot to do with classism in the end. People see them as inherently stupid for wearing (admittedly) exaggerated amounts of makeup and for the way they speak.
Like I think the over-consumption of makeup is problematic in other senses (not problematic of the users, but the beauty industry which has so expertly manipulated the insecurities of generations of young girls in order to sell products) but it's cruel to make fun of women for falling into trends and social obligations that are beyond their control. I'm critical of the makeup industry but not critical of women who wear makeup (which includes myself anyway) if that makes sense.
The whole 'M to the B' trend on Tiktok was funny in some ways (I only say this because all sorts of women were themselves participating, and also I think the original song/video is absolute genius lol) and perhaps not that harmful in and of itself but still rooted in those classist, misogynistic sterotypes and that kind of social contempt.
I think this is what you're referring to? Like alright I think it's true that some contestants on Love Island (male and female) legitimately don't seem very bright lol (or at least uneducated) but that's not their fault nor a sign that they're bad/contemptible people, nor a reason to be cruel towards them. And we also have to think about what's being chosen to show on television and why, which women appear, what they do, and why. If women are socially and financially incentivised to act dumb and hyper-feminine/hyper-consumerist then it makes sense that many women would behave that way.
Anyway I think that in this as in all things the best approach is to be critical but compassionate. No woman is a stereotype. Like all human beings, women have a variety of personalities, interests, qualities, mentalities, etc.
