Closure!!!!!

So, I've been talking about this for a fair bit now and debating the logistics, and I have decided to do it: A Christmas of Closure!

I have so many unfinished/on hiatus fics, some that never got past the first part, and this is my effort to (1) relieve myself of the guilt of not finishing them and (2) give a bit of closure to the readers who still wanted more from the story.

How does it work? You guys can choose any story of mine that you wanted to see more of, and the first twelve will get a little love this holiday season, with me posting one update every day leading up to Christmas, and ending on Christmas day with either whatever I was most excited to share, or what took me the longest and I needed more time for LOL

They key to this is that it's stories I've already started, so rather than spending half my writing time trying to figure out what it's going to be about, I'll hopefully just be giving words to something that's sat in my brain for the last few months/years. I'll get to share with you what was supposed to happen, while maybe jump-starting my own creative process so maybe (no promises) I'll actually be able to finish the story! (Again, NO promises, but also I hope so!!!)

All stories are on the table with the exception of TBBU, since that's already a work in progress and I will get there independently (*she lied, like a liar*). There might be others that have reached their natural end as well, and I'm not up to making zombies, but I can't name any right off, so go nuts and choose whatever you feel has been on life support for too long :)

Whumptober/Sicktember/Febuwhump prompts are up from grabs, but only in the form of continuations of already written pieces. I will not be writing prompts that I failed to post on time in this challenge (maybe another time)

The age of the fic doesn't matter, but be aware I might not be able to capture the same voice as I used to use. My writing style has changed and developed, but I will try and match my own freak when I can.

You CAN ask for specific things! I will not take unkindly to you popping in to say "write an update for story XYZ and maybe have ABC happen?" I can't promise that ABC will happen of course, because maybe that's not what was meant to happen, but I promise to consider any and all suggestions regardless, and try and make a Christmas present that you'll enjoy :)

The stories will get posted starting on the 14th of December and ending on December 25. There will not be an Ao3 collection, but I will have a master-list here on tumblr.

Ok how do you write a book. Spill your secrets how did you accomplish such sorcery

Non serious answer: just because I did it doesn't mean I know how lol. But in all seriousness, I have a couple pieces of advice that worked for me! Some of them everyone should listen to, a few might not be applicable to everyone. But, similarly to with my book, I'll offer it up and hope for the best

I am deeply honored by this ask!! Hopefully it means you're aware of the fact that if I can do it, literally anyone can. But here are the main things that helped me get my book out into the world:

God. People say this and it seems pretentious but it is so so true. The first draft of my book was the first thing I had ever finished writing, and the fact that I managed to do it was very clearly a God thing. Every time I sat down to write, I prayed over my time and my laptop and my creativity, asking God to guide them, and I trusted that this meant He would make sure I was writing what I needed to write, and that it would reach the right people. He also provided my editor (I would die for her) and helped guide me to my cover artist (who is an absolute legend who I would also die for). There was a lot of faith involved, but a lot of rewards

Find yourself some hype people. People who will always be happy to listen to you talk about your story, who will offer advice and get excited about every bit of news! I know this is easier said than done, though (yet another God thing) (also if you ever need someone to encourage you, I'm here! I love reading people's writing and telling them how great it is, it's my favorite thing)

Be conscious about setting aside time for it. It's easy to let it slide but I got there by writing only 200 words a day. You gotta start somewhere!

This might be a me specific thing, but having a playlist/album that I could listen to while writing was immensely helpful. For this book, it was the Counting Stars album by Andrew Peterson. But instrumental music is a good way to go, too!

At some point, accept that the book will not be perfect but God can work through it anyways. Nothing in this world is perfect. But that doesn't mean it's not good! You can edit and rewrite all the livelong day but at some point you gotta put it out there, terrifying as that seems. Posting fan fiction actually helped me a lot with this mindset. It helped show me that people would be interested in my writing style and that I could put myself out there with a positive response! (also reading "Adoring The Dark" by Andrew Peterson. His advice about this is so helpful and real, especially coming from a guy who's published like ten books, a million songs, and a tv show)

None of this seems like it's really helpful but! I can't know that for sure. I really hope someone finds some of this advice helpful and encouraging, and remember this: I was absolutely terrified at the idea of doing all of this. But if you're willing to trust God, spend some cash (I self published, but that's a whole other post), and put the work in, you can do it. I believe in you!!

Finally finished my piece for the one entry I'm doing of whumperofworlds' b-day event, so I can continue onto writing the other April and Bingo excerpts. Took way longer than planned because of things going on irl. But it's done and I plan on typing it up when I get home tomorrow, as well as some excerpts I finished right after (hopefully more depending on how work goes tomorrow).

The other excerpts are planned to be shorter, though a few I anticipate might be about as long as this one. Unsure as of now, but hey, I'm just happy to be writing and as much as I was hoping to get a headstart and maybe finish a month on time, I like this non-stress and actually in my own time approach, actually spending time on a piece rather than forcing myself through it. I think the next event I'll do is just going to be in as far advance possible planning that I can manage, rather than giving myself only the month before. Mostly because I do so much fiddling around behind the scenes that I really should work *with* myself on that rather than "in spite of it." If that makes any sense, lol. Having them in chronological order rather than the prompt order is helping a lot, too. As much as my brain doesn't like to think in order, it still helps me to pinpoint where certain important events will be and keeps the prompt excerpts from needing too much re-editing in the future for continuity.

Anyway, very nervous and excited for y'all to see what I've been taking so long on. Made myself sad with this one's ending (for the scene, not the story), so hopefully my efforts show it.

AUGH sorry for not getting to this asap bc my house's power (and thus my progress finishing and uploading charm/sticker art) is still being fixed atm, but i have a lot on my mind!! this'll at least be an interesting read to hopefully have you guys interested and spend time biding on atm, so i won't put this under the cut.

crosslocke is basically just what i call "crossover" nuzlockes i've played and talked about before with friends; two years ago i was bored during spring break and wanted to play an omega ruby nuzlocke to be more interesting -> thus nicknamed everyone i caught after resident evil characters bc i was hyperfixated on the franchise at the time, and what started as a jokey theme ended up being "wait these ideas w how both pokemon/re click together are actually cooking", so it ended up being a pretty thorough au!

for my personal crosslocke runs, basically it's a gijinka and/or mystery dungeon sort of au where everyone's pokemon people, haha; my trainersona's a shiny zorua/zoroark with aura powers exploring the various regions, and meet other people and how they manifest both their pokemon powers and aura in unique ways. so far i have 4 crosslockes, so i'll summarize their concepts and what they're crossed over with:

rising ruby (enhancement hack for omega ruby) x "resident evil" = an aurapocalypse where instead of a biological infection, it's aura being mutated,, a new twist to re's viruses due to how chi philosophy, which overlaps both the physical and spiritual, work in people and the environment's aura. it's played both for comedy and drama, like ethan coming back, Again, but as an aura-mutated Ghost zombie,, But also still unaware of his new infected state until everyone starts screaming at his new look lmao

eternal x (enhancement hack for x) x "kingdom hearts" = the crosslocke world is one world that's an "unreality" like quadratum to the kh world, and explores how magic and light/fairy-types vs darkness/dark-types play out,, along with how technology that integrates such magic can either aid or abuse (eg kh's synthesized ultima weapon and pokemon's engineered ultimate weapon have some similarities, don't you think)

prismatic moon (enhancement hack for ultra moon) x "jojo's bizarre adventure" = after the reality-warping events of the resident evil and kingdom hearts crosslockes that tampered with the natural order/balance of aura, ultra wormholes open up to different realities and timelines, in which kao cooperates with various jojo characters "eyes of heaven"-style, esp given her unique circumstances of not being a stand user, but a hamon an aura user able to still perceive/interact with stands + directly control aura in general, which stand users are incapable of doing

sv+ (enhancement hack for scarlet) x one piece academy/gakuen, the spinoff au manga = kao's aura powers are basically seen as conqueror's haki when roped into an alliance with the straw hats to uncover mysteries of not just the academy's treasure hunt, but phenomena like terastalizing and area zero. again like any other crosslocke, mostly for fun, but there's still drama due to the game events, hooh boy LMAO

depending on how retelling these stories would go (realistically, maybe something like a "story recap/analysis video essay" and jaiden animations way of regaling stories to summarize the au and whatever's drawn for them), i'm open to playing more crosslockes and talking about them not to just friends in private, but publicly online! depending on how pokemon legends Z-A turns out, it could be crossed over with assassin's creed (given the precedence of isu technology and the overlap of ancient technology w history and humanity), stuff like that ( ´ ∀｀;; )

what i like most about crosslocke is how it funnily enough ended up being a fun and experimental thing like nuzlocke comics and the dnd-esque culture of drawing and artistically interpreting your personal gameplay + sharing the experiences with others, not to mention how it accidentally also became a homage to the very first nuzlocke (comic) itself,, a guy being bored with pokemon and thus played a nuzlocke naming everyone after pop culture icons/characters, especially the titular nuzlocke being a nuzleaf named after john locke from lost.

given the circumstances of the world and my personal life, i don't want to put all my eggs in one basket investing (too much) in these nuzlocke aus, but we'll see how it goes; i love unique ways of experiencing stories and sharing them, and especially as someone who has a lot of personal experience and friends with nuzlocke comics, something that's very underrated today, it'd be a lot of fun to at least try out a little in the future if things are able!

Fursuit making update, since it's been a while! as I said in a previous post, progress has still been slow due to a number of irl things popping up, but not nonexistent! I've been very busy cutting fur lol

My family and I are going out of town for the whole of this next week, so I cut out all the pieces I need for the tail and wings so that I can bring them with me and work on them while I'm there!

Once I got that ready, I started work on the body, which would be too big to bring and work on during the trip. I figured that the more of it I could get done before we leave, the better I'd feel about the remaining work when I get back (since at that point AWU will only be a month away). So I pulled out the duct tape dummy and got to work on building up the digi leg shape, patterning, and cutting some fur!

None of it is actually sewn together yet, just laid roughly in place on the dummy as a preview of sorts, but I did manage to get most of the front side cut and ready to be sewn (the pieces at the bottom are the other leg lol)! I can't do the back side yet because I need the finished tail first, so I know how big to make the tail hole and where to line up the markings with it.

But hopefully I'll get the tail and wings all sewn and ready to go while on my trip, and with this head start on patterning hopefully I'll be able to get the body done fairly quickly once I get home, and then I'll be able to spend the last few weeks before AWU dedicated to the head! I'm not out of the running yet for having her done for the con; definitely can't afford to waste time at this point but things are still doable! So fingers crossed hrh 😅

Kenneski [DEVLOG 5/5/2024]

Hey guys!

This isn't an update to Kenneski, but I just wanted to bring you guys a devlog so you know how things are going and what to expect. ☺️

I'm about half-way through chapter 2, which is exciting. I'm not entirely sure where the chapter is going to end up, because I only have a basic outline of how I want the entire story to go. [Yes, I know, I'm horribly disorganized 😅] So for now, I'm just kind of going with the flow, and waiting for that pivotal, important part to pop up and stuff. The good part about that, though, is that I'm not afraid to go off on different paths and stuff for you to take. I think that'll definitely be fun to play through the story multiple times to see all that you can find out in each one.

Anyway! Down to more technical stuff- I rewrote the beginning of chapter 1, and added a bunch of new coding and whatnot. So, when the time comes to play chapter 2, you will need to re-play the entire thing. But, you will definitely want to, because I've improved a lot of different parts in the first chapter!

Relationship and character-wise, you get to learn A LOT more about each RO, because you get to spend some quality time with each of them. I'm already so excited to get to the romantic parts, but I have to keep restraining myself and let the relationships develop naturally. This can't be a PWP 😂 [I mean, if you guys are interested in some PWP side-stories, I can definitely oblige you... 👀] You also get to learn a little more about MC, one thing being kind of a major spoiler so I can't say anything about it for now. You'll just have to wait to find out about it when I upload the demo!

SO! Speaking of uploading the demo: I'm hoping to have chapter 2 finished by the beginning of June... But it may reach towards the middle of June. It all depends on how much writing I can get done THIS month. 🥲

With a quick glance back at the door, I make sure no one is watching before I quickly pick up the little dagger and hold it in my good hand, feeling the weight and cold metal against my palm. Then, I realize that I have no idea how I’m going to keep this weapon hidden away in my sleeve without it falling out… That is, until I see a few pieces of thin rope lying on the floor.  Deftly, I pick the rope up and place the cold dagger against my left arm, careful of the stitches. Then, after some finessing, I’m able to wrap the rope around my arm a few times, before tying the ends into a knot with the help of my free hand and teeth. After I pull my sleeve down, I can feel a sigh of relief escape my lungs when I realize that the sleeves are //just// loose enough that the dagger is unnoticeable. Feeling rather proud of myself, and a little reassured that I now have a weapon, I continue my search of the storage closet.  Farther into the storage closet, I can barely see anything except for vague silhouettes on the wall. There seems to be some sort of handle, but I’m unsure what it’s connected to. Is it another door? Why would there be a separate entrance to this storage closet? Where does it go?  I stumble my way into the dark, my good arm out to guide me, before I suddenly stop dead in my tracks. The hairs on the back of my neck stand on end as a cold breeze drifts through the storage closet, bringing along //something else//… A feeling. A feeling that I’m being watched.  Looking around is pointless, as I can’t see much of anything. But that means I’m unsure if there’s actually someone in this closet with me, or if I’m just being paranoid. And if I can’t see my surroundings, how do I know if it’s safe to retreat?  Something catches my attention- a small movement in the back corner of the storage room. I squint my eyes, trying to see into the inky blackness… only to realize that I’m staring at a //figure//. Whoever this figure is, it’s hard to see them clearly. They must be wearing dark clothes since they blend into the darkness so well…

bees. when I was a kid, someone told me to not move around bees so that they wouldn't bother you. outside during recess, I froze still cause a couple of bees landed on my shoulders/neck. the bell rang for us to go inside and I had to make a mad dash for the doors despite the fear I'd get stung. hindsight and common sense now tell me bees are generally harmless and wasps are the enemy, but I'm traumatized now and treat them the same

honestly I watch so many movies with my friends nowadays and a lot of them are really bad lmao. I think a recent movie we watched was The Killer and I didn't like it, but it's rated highly for who-knows-why. like it's not even a comedic mess-up, the assassin was just bad at his job and it's not entertaining

three things you love about yourself:

I'm a relatively positive person, or more like I don't have that much hate in my soul. will try to be the best supportive friend you've ever had. and I've got a lot of creative outlets to use!

Japan! I wanna see so many gamer things there. plus the tourist-y landmarks/activities. life-sized gundam is also on the list, if that's still around. and the food! (that I've been seeing because I follow this one guy on YouTube)

(slowly and surely) getting back to writing!! reviewing some of these games that I've been playing recently, because I've got Opinions on some of them. and getting used to this fancy new limited edition 8BitDo controller that I got. if this was a week ago, I could've said watching my friend finish the main story of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, but that's already happened

as a gamer and basketball fan, those are wildly toxic fanbases. gamers are so mean to the devs (sometimes rightfully so, other times not so much) and to other players. like literal death threats sometimes, it's insane. and then fans of basketball would literally boo their own players at times, like what.

list three things you find beautiful about life:

Space science (thanks Kurzgesagt)! Other people's works (art, writing, games, or otherwise)! Family, friends, and pets!

any dreams for the future:

finishing and publishing any of my works so that people can (hopefully) enjoy the experience I made for them

how are you feeling today?

another day of writing, gaming, etc. but it's grey and gloomy outside and it's sucking like half of my energy away, especially because I need to walk the dog later. and the NBA Trade Deadline is at 3pm so I might be spending more time than usual paying attention to player movement/trades between teams, especially because my team is Not Good and I'm expecting them to make moves this deadline.

Lust was happily eating the cinnamon rolls; he had forgotten how sweet and delicious this dessert tasted. He had also forgotten how much fun it was to bake. He smiled, remembering the time he spent with Cross. “Hopefully, I get to see him soon. Actually, I want to meet them all” Lust thought as he left some of the dessert for his brother.

Stretch picked at the carrot cake. Even though he didn't want to admit it, he had fun baking with Killer. He wanted to spend time with his brother again. “I'll ask tomorrow if we can do some activities, or at least check on the puzzles. I just want to spend time with him,” Stretch thought as he ate a piece of cake, smiling, at the sweet taste, he definitely enjoy the dessert.

Reaper was happily eating his cookies while drinking some tea with Life. He hadn't given an explanation; he just sat down and started to eat, which didn't bother Life. She knew that Reaper was happy, and that was all that mattered. “I should visit Night more often if this is what I'm going to eat, though they are too chocolaty,” Reaper thought as he quickly drank some tea to appease the invading chocolate flavor.

Shatter prepared the table; he had invited the others in. Ink and Yan appeared almost at the same time. Shatter smiled and gestured for them to sit down. They did, a bit hesitantly. Once seated, they enjoyed the cheesecake while Shatter tried to make conversation, and to his luck, the others joined in. Even after they finished, they continued to talk the whole day. “I should bake something for Dust and the others as a thank-you gift,” Shatter thought as Yan shared some gossip he had heard from various AUs.

Dream was munching on the muffins while at their clubhouse. He was very happy. He was glad that his brother hadn't forgotten the special dessert they had once enjoyed together. Ink and Blur entered the clubhouse, and once Dream noticed them, he put down his muffin. “It's now or never, and I need them to know,” Dream thought, encouraging himself, as he sat them down; he definitely needed to talk to them.

Ccino was eating some of the brownies while drinking hot milk. His little cats were around him, some trying to eat a piece of the brownie, though he didn't let them. He was enjoying his time reading a book that was given to him by Nightmare. He smiled, “They surely have come a long way. I just hope that one day everyone sees what I see,” Ccino thought as he raised his hand, making the kittens' mission, a failed attempted.

Meanwhile, the guys were each happy with their deserts.

Cross – *eating the cookies* “These are perfect!!”

Everyone – *eating their deserts* “Agreed!”

Nightmare – *shocked, a bit nostalgic, looks at Horror* “How? How did you know?”

Horror – *eating cinnamon rolls* “I got help from a golden apple.”

Nightmare looked at the muffin, then he smiled and continued eating.

Error – “Thïs chëesëçâke îs gøød; ît's thë bësṭ øne Î'vë èvër hâd.”

Papyrus – “Yay! He did like it!”

Killer – *eating his brownies* “Who would have thought that you liked something that doesn't contain chocolate?”

Error – “Î’m nøt Crøss.”

Cross – *offended* “Hey!”

Chara – “It's true, though.”

Chara earn a glare from Cross.

Error – *looks at Killer* “Dîd yøu … dìď yoʻû lîkë thë brøwnîës?”

Killer – “I loved them! They really hit the spot.”

Error smiled; he hadn't been so confident as before, but now he was glad Killer liked the brownies.

Cross – *looks at Horror* “What about you, Horror? Oh, you're already done, guess they were good”

Horror smiled and nodded. Everyone continued to enjoy their delicious desserts.

Hey Guys, Let Me Tell You Something.

So yeah after my last post I hate that I have to do this but I need to considering with my current situation I can't afford to even think about dropping one without another being in mind because the last thing I need right now is to FCK myself over...

My last post mentioned a commission I'm working to finish but due to so many twists and changes it's managed to bring me more stress than I deserve. I want to keep doing writing commissions because they ARE fun but only if people follow my posts and my rules. Either way, in order not to crash out I want to take MORE commissions but with the goal being $230 so I can buy this:

4 items (or 3 items??) in total but on my second account which is one that has to do with me and my craft. My craft meaning my spiritual practice. And $230 in particular just in case for shipping or something.

Outside of the spiritual it could help motivate me to move my body more in order to strengthen it.. so I can get up and go outside again and/or back to school finally where I do intent on continuing these posts though hopefully by the time I go back to school I can be writing these stories for actual fun again instead of because I have to...

Currently there's only one active writing commission.

Anyway, my point of this post is to please commission some writing or drawing for me!

Quick Rules on Art Commissions tho:

Due to all the street I'm already going through I'll only do OCS for now. And to make things easier I'll take $35 dollars for each full art piece. I do lineart, shading, coloring, multi skin tones and creatures of sorts etc etc. At most all I ask is for you to be patient with me as we do these things.

If you simply want to help just BECAUSE I need it I have Cashapp, Venmo, PayPal, etc. If you have the funds and art scared to spend them then I'll be happy to accept.

Here's some examples of my art which I may or may not have posted before though I don't fully remember right now.

As you can see my art style has a slight variation but only the furri and blond girl have line art. All these pieces except for the lion are older pieces as well. Oh and single characters are $35 but five dollars extra for other characters.

It's another LONG w.i.p. Wednesday! Explanation for why I haven't been making these, I guess:

took a week off in October cause I didn't feel like taking pics, then we had company and I didn't have time to do it, and then I got sick, ugh. But now I'm back and I'm gonna try to do these when I can again, possibly not every week, maybe every other week, cause I want to spend more time reading and writing this month if I can. (it's gonna be my first 'real' NaNoWriMo. Where I have a goal and such).

first off, the confession. I frogged the cardigan part of the og skulls cardigan. I kept looking at it, and looking at it, and I went 'I'm never going to wear this, I'm just doing it, to do it'. It's gone through like, three other iterations that I haven't been talking about cause I was really just trying to figure it out. I've finally found something I'm excited about making, which is a pieced together cardigan of double crochets, where on the right side rows I crochet through the back loop only. I'm feeling very inspired by this, especially since I could work on this even when I was super foggy from having a cold. Sadly, it did not get done in time for Halloween, but also I didn't intend for it to be just for Halloween. Hopefully this is something I'll wear all winter. It's my main w.i.p. rn and I hope to get it finished this week, so I'll post finished pics when I get it done.

and another 'wellllll there was a goof' project, lol. I messed up the left sock of my hocus pocus socks. so I decided to frog it, since then it would be easier to make the heel flap and gusset of the right sock! so! i then paused the first sock until I can catch up on the second sock, and when they are both ready to knit the foot, I'll pick them both up to knit two at a time again. I just haven't been able to knit very much cause of the foggy head from my cold. But! I am really happy with these and hopefully I'll have them done before the end of the year.

I picked back up the pass the honey cardigan! mostly cause it was easy knitting while I was, again, foggy from the cold..... wow. Any way, I know it probably doesn't look like it, but I did get some progress done on it, I think like two or three pattern repeats? I wasn't sure I wanted to continue it, but then I had the thought of 'it looks like dragon scales, not just honey comb' and now I love it lol. It's my dragon scale armor now.

and now! my birthday shawl!! (The Gaia Shawl) I only did the first bit on my birthday cause I was DETERMINED to get it started on the right day. I am loving this yarn and how it's working up, and I am really liking the little bit of the pattern I've worked at well. I'm not worried about how long it takes me cause my birthday shawl last year was being worked well into January. It'll be there when I feel good enough to work on it again. The only problem is that the pattern website keeps freezing.....

small yarn haul time!

the multi colored yarn is from one of my mom's friends actually, she has sheep and she goes through the entire process with it, and I got it from her 'booth' at the Heritage Days festival in Warsaw (which is no where near where I live). I have no idea what I want to make with it?? I'm thinking a hat and some socks maybe? it is a fingering weight yarn. Definitely the hat first, and then if I have enough yarn left over the socks. It's so soft and squishy, and I really love it.

and then the blues are for a project for my sister in law.... she kinda volunteered me for it, but it'll only take me a couple days at most. It's for a pixie from Harry Potter. The yarn is nice and soft, and I guess I'm looking forward to the challenge, but also she's just...... It's complicated.

Bouncing around between a few more things before deciding what to settle on.

I made it through about as much of Cypher as I could before I couldn't hold the entire puzzles in my head anymore, and that was enough. I really like the idea of it and probably would've done stuff out on paper when I was younger, and I love Matthew Brown's earlier puzzle games, but I just don't think this is for me at this point in my life.

CARS is short and weird and about what you'd expect from the same people who made stuff like Plug & Play. More of an interactive art piece than a game. The cars crave death. They must go in the hole.

I like the look of From Ashes, Bloom, and the animation of the creature is pretty satisfying, but when it comes down to it it's a tower defense game, and I don't like tower defense games.

It took me until this week to get around to trying Owlboy even though I think I got it in a bundle forever ago. It's pretty. I'll give it that much. There's not really anything wrong with the hour or so I played of it, but it really didn't do much to grab me. The epitome of "it's fine I guess", and I probably won't go back to it.

GwenBlade is a mess, to be polite. There are some interesting ideas in there, but it very much feels like a single person who had no idea how to make a game decided to make a game and learned as they went along. And if that's true they actually did a pretty good job, all things considered, but it's still kinda rough to play. I want it to be better than it is, because it comes so close sometimes, but it's not.

The main feeling I got from A Little to the Left was "hey, what if Unpacking was worse?" which wouldn't be hard to do while still being pretty good because Unpacking is amazing. The whole hour I spent with it I kept thinking "maybe I should play Unpacking again instead" though, which is not a good sign. It's not bad, and there's nothing fundamentally wrong with it, I'm just not really feeling it.

VOYAGER is almost a game, and I don't mean that in a negative way. It's more of a chill vibes toy where you nudge the orbit of your little space probe around to "discover" different planets, and mostly it just makes fun geometric curves by drawing out the orbits and plays good music at you, which works for me.

And Scarlet Nexus, another thing I got in a bundle a while ago, is way less polished than I expected from the trailers and stuff. I play more than enough VNs to be totally fine with VN-style storytelling and cutscenes, but the way they're presented just feels worse to me than a more typical VN presentation. The combat seems like it has potential though, and the premise behind the world and story could definitely be going somewhere interesting. We'll see eventually, I guess.

Between this and other stuff in recent posts that I've been trying out briefly to see what sticks, I think of the ones that weren't so short that I finished them in one sitting the ones I'll probably be spending more time with/hopefully finishing are, in no particular order, Scarlet Nexus, Wylde Flowers (which I think I've spent the most time with out of all of these and like the most), 9th Sentinel Sisters, Star Ocean: The Divine Force, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and maybe Ender Lilies.

now that I am no longer half awake I have a lot more patience for this thing actually:

I figured out how to get VLC media player to convert the dot mov screen videos that premiere didn't like to m4v videos which is a file type that premiere pro will actually import with no complaints. Downside is that to do this conversion VLC has to play the video back in real time as it is essentially re-recording it, so these 20 minute videos are going to take 20 minutes to convert. boooo on that front

I converted the shortest clip first, so I could try to figure out why the audio wasn't properly synced to the video and I think I have an answer, which is basically just that I clipped the dead space out of the audio and video separately BEFORE importing them into premiere instead of doing them at the same time. 🤦‍♀️ I'll just chalk that up to my brain being tired from work and being up late and move on actually.

I remembered that there was this tool in premiere that you could use to mark specific time stamps in a sequence. this is the weapon of choice for project re-align audio and video that my zoinked brain fucked up. How? I watched the video back until I got to a point in the video where there should have been a very specific, distinct piece of audio synced with it (in this case the sound of me typing) and marked that location. Next I listened to the audio again until I hit the start of the typing sound and marked that particular moment. The two timestamps marked, I then manually aligned my two markers, replayed the video/audio again to see if I was right and tweaked as needed. Finally, I resolved the length mismatch by cutting out the short remaining dead space at the beginning of the video and adjusting the speed until it was enough to fill the void in properly. Then I re-inserted the dead space, moving around the other clips as necessary and re-adding my crossfades.

This method should work for the other clips, which I am still waiting for conversions on. 🤞

Once all of my clips are re-aligned and properly in my timeline, I can go back and skim watch the video for errors before exporting it and submitting it. I also need to make the associated short write up, but that should be pretty painless and take no more than 30 minutes. Maybe more if I chose to include labeled screenshots.

Assignment will be less than 24 hours late, which is as good as I could have hoped for under the circumstances actually. One day I will finally turn in an assignment on time. On that note, I should get a jump on the discussion for next week so I'm turning that in early.

Hopefully I can have the assignment done BEFORE I go to work at 2:30. That's the goal anyways. Otherwise, I'll have to finish some stuff up AT work, which I'm gonna be real I'm not keen on.

Once again, my deepest, sincerest apologies to my profession (M) for my general lack of organization and whatnot. Fuck adhd, fuck adobe and fuck apple for this situation. Also fuck my lack of saturdays off actually. I'm glad for the hours, but also it is really screwing my school work time lines up. fmllll

sidenote, the professor suggested a different method for making the videos but I honestly did not want to spend the time learning how to do something else for this when I already knew how to do it this way. I wasted enough time in the past learning how to professionally produce video content in premiere pro, that I've honest to god wiped my brain of basic, consumer end, "easy" video editing which is objectively funny as fuck.

"What are we here for again?", your friend said as she pushed the shopping cart, "our shelves are getting full and we need some new ones. George has been squeezing his trophies in there at this point and they deserve a nice place", you explained as you looked at your phone, the code of the material you needed written in your notes app.

You and your friend had made an afternoon trip to IKEA after sharing lunch in town since you hadn't seen her in a bit and you also needed help with the things you were buying.

Looking down at your phone and the cart you had in front of you, you double checked you had gotten everything you needed before paying and somehow managing to fit everything in your car. Your friend had helped you carry the things to the flat before she bid you goodbye, leaving you to organise your work for the next couple of hours as you turned on the TV, catching the qualifying broadcast with ten minutes to spare.

You changed into your leggings and one of George's t-shirts, combing the hair away from your face as you got on with removing the books from their shelves as well as the trophies that George had collected over the years, cleaning them a bit before placing everything back in, your eyes travelling to the TV so you could see your boyfriend get in the first top 3. Later that night, George called you via facetime, "hello my love, congratulations on your grid position for tomorrow", you said as soon as the connection was settled, George appearing on your screen, his body sprawled on the white bed sheets as you admired how his eyes contrasted with his tanned skin and the colour of the bedding as he began to tell you about the day. "With all the grid penalties and the car, we kind of expected it but it's still good enough, the guys are feeling confident about tomorrow", he smiled "That just means everyone's doing a good job, that the car is heading where it is supposed to be, finally. How are you feeling about tomorrow?", you asked, snuggling further into the blanket you had draped around yourself, "I feel good about it, I know we have RedBull and Ferrari at it too but there seems to be some pace in the car", he said confidently, "You'll give it your best, I just know it", your proud smile could be seen from the stars even as you looked at George.

"Do you have any plans for when I'm back? I think I'm getting home just before dinner, and not going to lie, I really want to spend some time just the two of us", your boyfriend expressed and you thought it would be the perfect plan, "me too, I can actually think of a nice thing for us to do", you said as you looked to the pieces that you and George would hopefully be able to build into furniture before talking some more and then bidding eachother goodbye.

George had finished in third, and after a quick phonecall he was on his way back home to you, takeout already ordered to celebrate his race. You were putting the final things on the table when you heard the front door unlock, going to the corridor to see your tall boyfriend walking in and take his shoes off before discarding his bags next to the door, "Hello darling", he said as you made grabby hands at him as you approached him, landing on his chest as you enjoyed the feeling of being back in his arms, "I'm so proud of you, my love", you said as you looked up at him, puckering your lips so he could meet yours in a kiss halfway.

"So, what's this plan you have for us tonight?", George asked as he kept his arms around you while you guys made your way into the table on the living area of the place, "I ordered some food because I'm starving and I thought you'd be too, and if you're not too tired, we can build some new shelves for my books and your trophies", you tempted him, "the collection is growing and they deserve a nice place to be shown, not all cramped up in the unit there", you pointed to a spot that somehow was fitting four of his trophies, along with a few helmets that also deserved a worthier place to be. George chuckled before he placed another kiss on your forehead, "and how do you plan to build it? You're not suggesting we suddenly turn carpenters in a couple of hours, are you?", he teased before you headed to the room where you had kept the new boards, the one closest to your reach ending up covering your height and George online giggled further as he was only able to see your feet and hands, "So you're the board? I don't think your butt is flat in the slightest though darling, I don't think that's going to work", George teased before he grabbed the wooden board and set it back in the floor, his hands moving to your butt and giving it a squeeze, "When did you get all of these? You said you were going for lunch". Pulling his hand so you could go back to the table to eat, you sat down and started opening the boxes, "I needed help to get all of this from IKEA so she helped me after lunch", you explained as you both dug in.

The instructions were open in front of you, with you separating each time of screw in little plates to avoid mixing them up as you handed George what he asked, "No you can grab that bigger one and join those two while I do these", he said as you got to work before getting up so you could both lift it, "Careful with your fingers when we put it against the wall, darling", the driver reminded you, his worry ever so present as you finally got your furniture placed.

"Well done, Bob the builder has nothing on us", you said as you highfived your boyfriend, "Now, how many trophies do we have to put here?", you started counting the ones you set on the table before George came back from the bedroom with the new acquisition to his collection he retrieved from his bag, "Oh, this one is pretty", you said looking at it as you made a quick math about where and how you could fit everything. "Where is this one from?", you asked, not recognising it straight away, "that's from F2, it was the first one I won in there, even my grandma went to watch that one", he said as he grabbed the trophy and reminisced in the memory, "but I do know this one", you grabbed the first trophy he had won when you were dating, the day one of the core memories you had together. George had invited you to a race and, since his parents were not able to be there, you were alone in his garage and that was when you noticed what he meant when he said they were family too. How everyone had welcomed you and offered you everything they could, how they had given you a set of headphones and how you were able to talk to so many people from the team without feeling like you were the odd one and, to finish it off, how George had won that race. "It was also the day I realised you were it too", George said as he kissed your cheek, helping you arrange it in the shelf.

George volunteered to help with the books and his helmets as you grabbed his trophies, quickly reaching to a halt, "Darling, I can't reach the upper shelf, ai need your help please", you blushed at your admission as George finished putting the last stack of books in one of the lower shelves, "Come on, up", he said as he got up and patted your thigh, hoisting you up so your legs wrapped around his strong waist and you both finished your work. Admiring all of it, George noticed how you had left a bit of space empty, "Why don't we move those around that one? It looks weird with that emptiness there", he suggested, "George, at the speed you're going, quite literally, that space is going to be filled anytime soon, there's many more to come from where those came from", you smiled as you grabbed your boyfriend's neck, pulling his face to yours as a kiss developed to a few more, his hands going back to your hips as he caressed your skin under the t-shirt you were wearing. "You think so, hm?", he said cockily as he hoisted you up again, his hands grabbing your thighs as he carried you to the bedroom for some final celebrations.

Paris' guide to making kickass Chaos Space Marines

specifically turning Berzerkers into a Legionary kill team

I had to do something with the new Khorne Berzerkers kit, so I decided to turn one into a Legionary kill team. This tutorial will follow my thought process for assembling & kitbashing models, which is my favorite part of this hobby tbh. It'll be it rambley & I probably didn't take enough pictures, but hopefully this'll inspire other hobbyists to chop up their expensive plastic & stick it back together in beautiful ways.

I'm assuming basic knowledge of model assembly; how to clip, clean, & glue plastic together is beyond the scope of my post, and extensive coverage of those topics can be found elsewhere.

Step 0a: Strategize

A Legionary team can use six astartes at a time, so I want a Chosen, Icon Bearer, Butcher, Anointed, Shrivetalon, and Gunner. I'll also make a Heavy Gunner, so I can choose between two guns each game. That leaves three models to join the Berzerker horde I already own; I'll give them two-handed weapons or a plasma pistol, as my collection lacks those options.

Step 0b: Gather bits

In addition to the Khorne Berzerker box, I have an unopened box of Blood Warriors from AoS, as well as spare parts from Bloodletters & many, many Chaos Space Marine boxes. I ordered some custom female heads from an Etsy shop, designed by Keta Minies. This project isn't as elaborate as my Berzerker horde, I'm not replacing Blood Warrior shins or anything. But it's more than enough bits to make sure none of these ten Berzerkers are 100% made out of Berzerker bits.

Step 1: Bodies

I made all ten torso & leg assemblies as per the instructions. I like to work on all of them at once, so I can compare how bits look on different poses. I've also glued the icon to its backpack.

Step 2: Two-handed weapons

Any object that's connnected to both arms is more annoying to assemble; the pose is more restricted, there's three points to glue at the same time, and (when kitbashing) you may find that certain torsos just don't fit well. Therefore, I want to do these weapons first, so I can give them any of the ten available bodies, and so I get the annoying part out of the way first.

The special & heavy weapons are taken from the Chaos Space Marines (reaper chaincannon is from the Legionaries; the same kit with an extra sprue for Kill Team). They are assembled per the instructions. The two chain weapons are Khornate eviscerators from the Khorne Berzerkers. The normal axe is the goreglaive from the Blood Warriors; I cut the smaller blade off, mostly to differentiate it from my Master of Executions, who uses the same weapon.

Before I actually glue arms to bodies, I spend a lot of time holding them in place, comparing poses, making sure everything lines up in a satisfying way.

Blood Warrior arms don't fit well on marine bodies, they must be scraped into shape. This can be a bit tricky; how you carve into the joint will determine the exact angle of the arm. I recommend doing this with one-handed weapons to get a feel for it, before trying the two-hander.

Step 3: Custom weapons

Now for my favorite part: custom weapons. I don't have another daemon blade, Shrivetalon knives, or Annointed claw from the Legionary kit. So I make my own.

For the Shrivetalon, I take a Blood Warrior axe & remove the axe head. The blade I removed from the big axe will make for a strange, short brawling weapon (my apologies for not getting a good post-assembly picture of the axe. You'll see it on the finished model below). The other arm will be the knife arm from the Chaos Space Marines missile launcher model. For the Anointed, I use a Bloodletter arm. It must be trimmed to fit under a pauldron. Note that the unseemly hole in the shoulder will be covered by the armor piece. Any bare Blood Warrior shoulders will need to be filed down a bit, as they are just too beefy to fit in a pauldron. Always dry fit, after little bits of work, to make sure you don't take too much away!

For the Chosen's daemon blade, I want a Bloodletter hellblade. First I look through the Chaos Space Marines chainsword arms for a good pose, and remove the sword from it. I remove a hellblade from a Bloodletter's arm. Simply gluing the blade & hilt to the hand could work, but I don't trust that to hold, so I get the hand drill. I put a rod through the hand, connecting the blade & hilt, so now those tiny joins aren't so fragile.

Step 4: Oh yeah, it's all comin' together

Now I can start gluing the rest of the arms to bodies, as well as backpacks & pauldrons. There are infinite choices to be made here. A backpack with more skulls might make more sense on a leader, or one with horns growing out of it may be better for the Anointed, for example. For the left shoulders, I've used blank pauldrons from the Chaos Space Marines instead of World Eaters pauldrons from the Berzerkers, so I can paint a custom warband sigil.

For the Icon Bearer's weapon, & the Chosen & Annointed's pistols, I carefully consider the different bits to make good poses. They're from the base Berzerker kit, so they aren't exactly kitbashed, but these choices are critical to giving a model a pleasing silhouette.

Step 5: Heads & bases

I always leave the head as the last bit to glue on, before I glue the model to the base. Tiny changes in the head's position can radically alter the emotion or action of a miniature, it's the most important part.

The 3d printed heads I have don't have astartes collars, so I make tiny green stuff balls to serve as necks. It goes tiny bit of super glue, green stuff, press head into place, remove head, tiny bit of super glue, place head again.

Note, this one model is an exception to my head last rule, as I need to place it in such a way that the braid fits, before I can make decisions about the right arm.

Finished Models

Chosen: I am so very happy with her!! The hair, arm, & body all come together in a pose that, dare I say it, could pass for an official sculpt :D

Shrivetalon: this is an example of a pose that doesn't photograph well; from this angle, the knife isn't visible. From other angles, the right blade isn't, or we've got an odd angle on the face, or whatever. This isn't terrible, but professional model design is all about making a 'golden angle' to view it from, & this model doesn't have that. She's cool anyway.

Anointed: here's another good pose. I imagine she's tearing our some poor mortal's throat as she transforms.

Heavy Gunner: I've always loved the idea of a Khornate Havoc, so I made this gal a normal Berzerker, except for the big fucking gun. This amuses me.

Gunner: I pretty much always make my special & heavy weapons aiming down sights, it's satisfying to check line of sight with them. But I am so happy I didn't do that here, she's so brutally aggressive, she looks like she's running up to a barricade & blasting a hidden coward >:D

Icon Bearer & Butcher: these are standard Berzerker models, with headswaps. Not difficult, & sometimes a headswap is all you need to change the feel of a model.

Khorne Berzerkers: the three remaining models will join my 40k army. They each have a bit or two from the Blood Warriors, just to keep the Crimson Hounds from having any non-converted models in it.
