the amount of angst in this series I love sm. when seung was texting hyunjin about mio?? broke me. haha omg. I don’t mind the spam!!! i’m goad you’re loving it. the social media format has definitely been my favorite since I discovered it!! I’ve always enjoyed writing dialogue more than anything so texts are a great way to do that.

I accidentally made seungmin a little too angsty but!! he’s just a lil tsundere who’s kinda afraid of his feelings because he feels them so strongly and so intensely. there’s definitely a little more to his backstory that you guys can look forward to 🤭

of course!! tws are super important to me as someone who is easily triggered by things. I had wrote mio/yn as someone who struggles a lot because as someone who deals with depression and chronic anxiety, writing about it and having someone be comforted by it is really cathartic. I know it’s not for everyone and that’s ok!! I have much more less angst fic ideas too.

I've been doing okay since then and things have been settling down a good bit compared to before. I've just been in and out of tumblr and socials in general bc I'm not quite ready to fully engage with too many people just yet aaaaa catch me lackin

hello! nice to meet you! c: hope you don’t mind that i answered this publicly. it could end up helping a lot more people!

the best place to start when you’re learning japanese is to learn hiragana and katakana. these are two (out of three) of the japanese “alphabets.” i did this by making physical flashcards for them with drawings and stuff, but you can do it online just as well. duolingo and memrise are good for that, and they’re both free to use. c: hiragana and katakana are based on sounds, just like the english alphabet is. a, i, u, e, o, ka, ki, ku, ke, ko, and so forth. hiragana is generally used for japanese words, and katakana is generally used for words that have origins in another language. for example ドア(do-a) comes from the english word “door” so it uses katakana, but どうして (do-u-shi-te) has japanese origins, so it uses hiragana. spelling out japanese words using the western alphabet is called romaji, and i tend to avoid that on this particular blog since it helps me read hiragana and katakana better, but there are a few studyblrs i know that do use romaji. i can send you some suggestions if you like.

the third japanese alphabet is kanji, and that’s the hard one. there are soooo many. it’s the one that generally looks the most complicated. there are many ways to study kanji. wanikani is good for that. it’s free for a little bit, and then after a while you have to pay for it, but it’s a great way to get your feet wet. one thing that’s important to remember about kanji is the stroke order. a lot of newcomers ignore it when they’re writing, but it’s actually really important to remember. 

after that, it’s a lot of grammar and vocab study tbh. in general, i study the way one would study for the jlpt (japanese language proficiency test). this is divided into five levels with n5 being the easiest and n1 being the hardest. i’m currently working my way through the n5 and n4 stuff. you can find lists for that stuff here. if you ever come across a word you don’t recognize, jisho is the best place to go.
