absolutely i can!! long rambling below the cut:

so hollyleaf comes from a very, very long book series called warrior cats. it's wildcats in societies. they have a religion and it's real and has magic powers. i do not recommend this series.

so hollyleaf. hollyleaf is one of three protagonists of the third arc called the power of three. yeah a little on the nose. the other protagonists are her brothers but this isn't fucking about them

hollyleaf very obsessively subscribes to the arbitrary rules and beliefs of her society, and is constantly thinking about her and others' morality and "doing what's right". this is half her own thing and half a product of her society's hard emphasis on heroism and there only being One Way To Be a Good Person.

one of these arbitrary rules is that the healers in the societies can't have mates. this is because it's falsely believed they will prioritize their family over other patients. yes it's bullshit, yes everyone in the entire fandom collectively agrees on that.

leafpool was a protagonist in the previous arc, where she eloped while breaking 2 major arbitrary boyfriend rules: from a different group, and she was a healer. she decided to return when she learned her mentor was dying and broke up with her (honestly shitty) boyfriend. but oops! already pregnant!

leafpool is encouraged by the dead people religion to have her litter and have her sister serve as a surrogate mother so nobody finds out. her sister does not want children. she has a very unstable relationship and she does not want more things that could jeopardize her (honestly shitty) boyfriend. she is lied to by the dead people religion so she agrees.

hollyleaf and her brothers are raised never knowing anything until a big event we don't need to get into right now where their adoptive mother reveals it to save them from being killed by her ex (WE DON'T NEED TO GET INTO IT RIGHT NOW.) he bails on his evil plan and decides to reveal her secret to everyone instead.

this. Breaks. Hollyleaf.

hollyleaf has built her entire life around this system that she believes in more than anything else. now, she has learned her very existence defies this system. she. is. Not. Okay

so, one night, hollyleaf kills him.

this breaks her further. now, she has three very, very deplorable things she will never be able to change about herself that she believes make her fundamentally Wrong.

so the night he was going to reveal it, in front of all the groups of wildcats, hollyleaf does it herself. without warning Anyone.

hollyleaf sprints back to her home and confronts leafpool. she tries to force her to cause her own death via poisonous berries. leafpool drops one of the hardest lines in the entire serious out of nowhere, "Which do you think would cause me more pain? To die, or continue living?"

hollyleaf sprints out of her home. her brothers catch up to her in time to watch her escape through a cave that promptly collapses (it was set up as unstable before this dw about it.)

hollyleaf is now dead.

except she isn't.

hollyleaf is very much alive, though seriously injured, and is slowly cared for by another cat in the tunnels. she stays there for nearly a year, periodically spying on her home and supplying anonymous aid before retreating to the tunnels underneath the territory. when two cats from her group get lost in the tunnels, she finally decides to return after helping them find their way out.

there's a lot of stuff after that, but the main thing is this:

hollyleaf dies in a huge battle to save one of those cats. a book after she returned. if it sounds like i'm still pissed off about that even after first reading it 6 years ago it's BECAUSE I AM.

now the thing with hollyleaf is that because warriors is so badly written, a lot of it comes from personal interpretation. i doubt the authors actually had any of these deeper things in mind, but i do, and i actually remember my character's eye colors (we don't need to get into that right now) so i'm correct.

tl;dr: hollyleaf is my favorite character in warrior cats and one of my favorite characters of all time. she has a fantastically horrific arc in which she spends half her life being morally superior, and then she has several mental breaks and commits heinous acts. she is an awful person. she is a murderer. and i love her very very deeply

haven’t read kafka’s voice lines in a minute, but I just reread them, and like I need to know more. like her being a devil hunter. why were there devils on her planet in the first place, was it bc of the stellar on or just like smth else. why’d she become one. and it was always interesting to me that it seems like she kind of didn’t like her home planet, obviously she could be lying. ig she wasn’t that close to her family and she probably didn’t have friends bc she’s a loser and isn’t good at connecting w people. And I’m curious abt where and when she started saying "When making friends with someone, keep the right distance, in order to maintain a long-lasting relationship." and firefly thinks she doesn’t believe that? if Kafka didn’t care abt anyone on her home planet ig that would make sense? idk hsjjghsh I’m not coherent enough but I need more Kafka. I do wonder abt how people who can’t feel fear yk survive and all, but idk. Her sea voice like is also interesting like why was that such a personal place?

Also my fighter between the two kafcats os probably the happy one bc she’s just so cute…I want to a symphony a few days ago and I couldn’t stop thinking abt Kafka, like violin=kafka for me. She def would liked it, trust me. On a side note, do u think she’d be concert master? it’s like the best (violin I think) player and everyone tunes to them bc, and they usually get all the violin solos.

and I’m gonna have to clear out some stuff bc I don’t have enough storage for ptn…don’t ask. I know I’ll like it bc women, ugh I should just get more storage.

now that ive read AND listened to her voice lines i find it curious that she seems to have a bit of nostalgia in her tone when talking about the destruction of her planet. like you can tell whenever she has a smile on her face as she says certain lines and she’s always so playful (spent a whole hour just listening to her yesterday im ill) but this line was one of the serious-ish ones. she could be acting all mysterious on purpose but i guess we won’t know until more info comes out…. i really wonder if she had friends or something before because she says she rarely ever saw the same person twice due to her work.

THE SEA VOICE LINE. HELLO. WAS NO ONE GOING TO TELL ME HOW EXCITED SHE GETS?! THE CUTE EMPHASIS ON “fiercest”?!?!?! YOU ALLLLL FAILED ME. she speaks so genuinely as if reminiscing that place then she composes herself after a pause… wow. my baby. she’s so cute 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

i also go violin = kafka and omgg going to a symphony sounds so nice i hope u had a great time. straight up unbiased thoughts i think she would get the solos because she seems really rigorous in her practice of the violin despite having a very unstable job. she doesn’t strike me as the type to go for easy to play pieces either, especially when you consider what kind of music she’d like. so she’d work for that solo!!

Tall Tales Part 1.

Ok: to premise, this is my first ever work that I have posted, ive reread it a billion times anxiously and im finally gonna post it, dont have any art of the characters rn, use your ⭐imagination⭐ and or self insert 😏👍

The relationship can be taken romantically or platonically at this point, but it will have romance later on.

Here we go!

Avril unknowingly wanders off the path , as the trailmarkers are unclear and it is fairly new, they follow a straight clearing of trees, taking a left, walking for about a mile and going in a few circles.... and finally realise that they are lost. "noooo... .shit.."

They stay put, not knowing where to go and begin to call out to anything around them....

"Helloooooo!!!!!" they bellowed

"Im lost can anyone hear me !!!!"

Silence.....

That is until the slow rythm of the shaking ground became apparent, they looked around, fearing that an earthquake or rockslide would be their next challenge. Unable to pinpoint the source, Avril sprinted to the middle of the clearing, knowing they would be safer from falling objects.

The shaking persists, becoming louder, the pauses between make them wonder what the hell would make this sort of noise... None of their guesses were correct.

While wandering the forest, Jace senses something peculiar in the air, a scent he hadnt smelled in a while...

He approached the source, seeing a clearing, and right in the center. . .

Was that a human ? Jace smiled to himself, heheh, this would be fun~

Jace attempts to be lightfooted, it seems to have worked, in a way, as the human cannot tell where the massive tremors originate, it looks around jolting its head back and forth- Jace steps out of his hiding spot behind the thick foliage, revealing himself to the tiny being who is speechless at the sight of him. Crouching down and idly resting his chin in his hands, Jace takes in it's delightful look of shock and disbelief.

Avril stumbles backwards, attempting to fully take in the impossible sight before them. unable to form coherent thought, let alone words, avril can only stand there, eyes torn open, mouth agape and stuttering half-formed words.

Jace l o v e s this feeling, that look on the poor humans little face ~ mmm, he wishes he could savor it forever.

" Hello there ~" taunts the giant,

"what might you be doing wandering around here ?"

After a moments pause, trying to gather themself, the human speaks up.

"I-i-ii-im lo - lost , the- the tra-ail -"

"-Ohhhh, I see. And you managed to find yourself in my territory! How unfortunate for you~"

Avril pales, not sure what this giant was insinuating, but considering the dark tone he dropped into, they were sure that it was nothing good.

Jaces reaches a hand down, grabbing for the human.

Naturally, Avril attempts to run the fuck away, but they are promptly sprawled out on the ground by a massive hand s l a p p i n g down onto them.

Avril cries out, both from pain and fear as talon-like fingers wrap around their fragile form.

They are hoisted up quickly and flipped over onto the palm of Jaces hand.

Avril attempts to steady themself on the unfamilliar surface, their weak and pained body is assisted by adrenaline, they scramble to get off this thing and run as far away as possible, almost jumping from the surface until they realise the horrific height they have ascended to. Avril backs away slowly, sitting down and hugging their knees. Jace curls his fingers behind their back, making sure they dont fall or try to jump off again.

Avril pants and coughs from the dirt they inhaled during their capture, and Jace eyes them with curiosity.

"Whered' you come from?"

They gasp for a moment more, trying to get their bearings , Jace waits patiently

" a, um , a cam- campground" avril stutters, their bodys tremors match their voice.

With this question, Avril held hope, maybe the giant woud be taking them back?

"Mhm- and what is your name?"

"Av-ril?"

"Ohhh, that is so cute! im going to call you Av for short~"

Oh joy, nicknames.

"Well, my name is Jace." He stated simply

"Jace...?" Av spoke up nervously

"Hmm?"

"W-w what , why,. or-or .u-um"

They had so many questions, all equally terrifying to ask to an 80 ft tall being that literally had your life in its hands

Av took a breath, tremors still shaking their body " Are y- you going to- to let me go... ?" they asked with a slight glimmer of hope

Jace snickers, "let you go? Aw, now why would I want to do that? No darling your stuck with me."Jace teased.

-At least he wasnt mad I asked,,-Av thought, trying to keep a little hope so they didnt start spiraling.

"Av, I cant say I've had the pleasure to meet one of your kind before" jace said with curiosoty

"o- oh, um, same?"

"haha! Well im sure you havent! You humans are quite interesting, but I havent ever been able to get a good look at you before~"

Jaces other hand neared the human, they squeaked,backed up a bit, then, realising they could fall to their death, decided to maybe not do that and curled back into a ball instead.

Jace pinched av's arm between his fingers, not taking too much care to be gentle. Av clenched up, unsure what the behemoth wanted with them, what if he was going to tear their arm off! He could rip Avril limb from limb without breaking a sweat! Maybe he wanted to see how much meat they had on their bones.... See if they were even worth eating.

Jace could feel its tiny, tiny fingers between his huge ones, ahh, that is just too cute! His fingers slide up its arm, so little and squishy~ its cute little face was tragically covered up as it curled into itself. Jace then noticed the humans shaking , his mouth made an 'O' shape realising he may be hurting it. . . he released its arm, which was immediately pulled into the shaking ball.

"whups, you alright tiny? "

After a few seconds of no response

Jace poked it, eliciting a surprised squeak.

"What are you doing all huddled up like that ?"

Still no response came from the shivering mass

"Hmmm. . . "

Jace shifted his hand, causing the ball of human to roll for a second, letting out a short scream as it unfurled. Jace was happy to see it's little face again, it was still shaking but at least he wasnt being ignored.

He hummed in thought before pivoting in the other direction, away from avrils last connection to the human world.

SAMPO’S AWAKE YEAAAAAAAA I loved that whole sequence of just “take your shirt off” “wgat” help that was so funny- I’m very excited to see what happens when he’s more lucid, but I gotta say I am really enjoying Delirious Sampo just for that extra comedy.

Gepard’s whole conflict with him missing the shack.. yeah. Yea that’s the good stuff. I like complicated stuff like this and it’s just?? So good???

I have been thinkin bout it for SO LONG ngl i was like what would a drugged up sampo notice first. oh ya that gepard has a shirt on now cuz they spent nearly 2 months in the shack w a half naked gepard like seeing him w a shirt on now??? thats FUCKED UP. it should be a crime for him to hide all that perfection under stupid sweaters.

and ya.... ya. i think gep would have a lot of conflicted emotions bout the hideout n the time he spent there. like he feels confused bout missing any or it or remembering any of that experience fondly. it was inarguably one the worst experiences of his life. while his sisters were searching for him, his guards dead in the snow, he shouldntve been enjoying himself at all. n he feels bad that he misses the place n the sound of the wind pounding on the walls and sampo humming in the other room and the constant buzz of those beaten up heaters and the stiff uncomfortable sofa sampo slept on. its kinda that complicated thing of like... feeling 'wrong' for missing or thinking fondly of aspects from/around a traumatic experience. n gepard at some points gotta come to terms w it n realize he Can in fact miss it without it being like a betrayal to his fallen comrades or his sisters. but also he gotta realize half of what he misses from back then is just... sampo.

i talked about this a little when i had just finished it but i rly like ultrasound by conor stechschulte. another very dark story that makes full use of the medium. some really great art that contributes beautifully to the frightening, disorienting vibe of the story.

and while im far from up to date on the series, ice cream man by w maxwell prince is always very good and very scary. kind of creepshow esque with its episodic-anthology-like format which i always find fun.

anything junji ito tends to be a banger but in terms of like longform stories rather than single chapter oneshots, tombs and hellstar remina are both favs of mine. plus you know. tomie and uzumaki obviously but i figure u know that. dissolving classroom is also fun imo if not particularly.. coherent.

umm what else.. infidel is a compelling and fucking stomach turning take on haunted house horror. theres also definitely more that i just cant remember the titles of rn.....

oh and while not horror, dragman by steven appleby is a really interesting speculative graphic novel i read recently that i promise is good i know how this looks from the summary but really its good its good

HEY HERE FOR YOU IS SO GOOD oml I adore the way you write Tighnari and Collei's relationship, it conveys such a clear sense of family and care. And Collei, doing what needs to be done (based on things she'd learned from Nari!!) despite her underlying anxiety over how to handle things, is exactly how I would picture her in this kind of scenario!! And her awkwardness when Tighnari is in the bathroom... I really feel for them both TT_TT I love that Tighnari tried to do so much before the illness really hit him, and then tying to clean up after himself later - it just feels so in character. His ears and tail throughout the fic are so well utilized in a sense of body language and just conveying how much he's struggling, not to mention thinking about Cyno 🥺

And just the way that things get so gradually worse for him throughout the fic!!!!!!!! How he goes from "I will prepare everything" to "ugh so annoying I can barely clean up my mess but I must tidy!!" to not even speaking. Such a great way to show the progression of how awful he's feeling. I'm. Struggling to be coherent here I just love this fic so freaking much. I could spend a whole day rereading it if I had time for it. I'm. !!!!!!!!??????!?!?! Can't believe there's going to be whole second chapter 😭 and I'm so excited for Cyno to join the story!!!!!!! The AO3 tags already have me squealing lsdfjdfsjk okay enough of my rambling, thank you a million times over for writing this fic, I'll probably do an AO3 comment in the future with more thoughts once I've read it 200 more times :D

I started out Really nervous to be writing so many new characters at once but once I got passed it a bit I'm Really thrilled with how it is coming out. She learned! she learned from Nari and she's doing her best! I thought I had replied to you, but here we are. With this reply, I take the opportunity to spoil you that the new chapter will be out by tomorrow morning (in a maximum of 12 hours, to be clear), and that in two days at most a one-shot inspired by the movie will be out, but no spoilers, so in case you get bored, I hope to fill your days a bit.

That said: it made me laugh that you had predicted it because that chapter was written months ago, and on one hand, every time I write a silly chapter, I say "okay, today we're going light," but on the other hand, it all makes sense. Simply put, in the previous chapters, Dew talked about Rain's imprinting, how Rain had become attached to him, became very protective towards him, and gradually managed to make him completely settle in. What Rain is now doing is imprinting with Phantom (and if you reread the first chapters, it also makes sense). Before the quintessence incident, Rain was the one Phantom bonded with, and when after the incident Rain bonded with the reader, Phantom was consequently excluded, obviously not intentionally. Similarly, the second attempt at imprinting is happening with a human, so instead of behaving like a demon or a cat or whatever, it's more human-like behavior.

After watching the movie, I know that Kevin is really a dork, so I'm glad I included that silly scene, same for the ghouls insulting each other.

As for the designs, I'm still trying to find the style that works best, but I'm working on it because I really adore the ghouls, I can't not draw them.

i saw someone say they could write an essay on this but wouldn't and id just like to say that i fucking LOVE writing essays so i could and i WILL write an essay on this. this silly little series means way too much to me and nico is my favorite character. im not going to let people treat it like that just bc they can't do the one thing that book was written to teach: accept change. you are changing and growing up, you can outgrow things, that doesn't make them BAD. some kid is going to love that book just as much as you loved the original pjo books. if you read that entire book and came out thinking it should have changed with you then i suggest you reread it with an open mind.

You can't expect anyone to follow your definition of maturity. Change, growth, and maturity are personal paths and all you can hope for is that someone will be willing to meet you halfway and merge your paths together. whether it be traumatic response or a genre you used to love, the questions TSATS ask and the moral it drives home are useful, you just have to understand that Rick assumed outgrowing the genre meant learning these lessons. i guess he was wrong.

But tldr i like how complex he is and how he's quite the unreliable narrator who would rather you hate him as a villain than see how fragile, uncertain and self hating he can get. My boy contains multitudes😭 Not to forget his desperation guided by the fact that he was watching the idol industry that brought him joy when he was sick in a hospital bed slowly collapse. Idols were his source of hope and dreams, and he just wants everyone to experience this happiness. That's his driving force, his ideal. He just thinks idols are the way to achieve happiness. But even so, he has regrets regarding his own actions. He's not perfect, but none of the enstars characters are.

If you see my reply and decide to give understanding him a chance, he has plenty of good stories, but please read Ep:Link if you havent already. I hope it will change your view on him.

Wish they had more in game interactions, or like they had synergy, meta wise, since canonically they’re one of the most tight knit groups.

im with you entirely, if it was anyone else in that story i wouldve already called the cops LMFAOOO kafka gets privileges because shes hot and my fav unfortunately… for the finger thing, i think its just one of her quirks! in her idle she mimics playing the violin and like you said she has very dexterous hands (even mentions it in a voice line) so i think she’d absentmindedly move them around when her mind is elsewhere. this is the kind of overthinking i was talking about, when i map out a character in my head i think about the most irrelevant stuff that dont matter😭 but imo they add to her charm a little and make her a rounder character, idk. The fact is, i don't hate johnlock at all? My beef is with the way Sherlock was depicted as a character in the BBC show, perfectly emulating all that went wrong with archetypes in media and propaganda of how characters should be. His coldness, his helping the police, his rudeness and lack of empathy being hailed as something to aspire to is very much in opposition to what his character was originally. The choices moffat made with his character, and tbh other characters, make me want to scream (EUROS????), and it coincides so much with the MCU fuckery and the way they set up characters that we are supoosed to haul as heroes and the lazy way of writing and the refusal to at least think about not going for the easiest, "scare-jump" narrative choices to justify character backgrounds and motivations that it makes me wanna scream. (You have to forgive me im half-coherent and pissed, i just read through besties paper on historical revisionism of certain things v close to me and im a bit distracted so i cant remember how to formulate my arguments properly, bit i will definitely rant more about this PROPERLY after im done rereading the books and rewatching the series and movies). Anyways, my point is that I love johnlock, when done properly, and not as a wank.

If we're talking about bbc version, which i am and will be, John/moriarty, i never rly got into that if i'm honest. BBC moriarty makes me too uncomfortable in his psychosis (fucking absolute kudos to andrew for playing the character amazingly and so creepily that i get excited every time i see him on the screen!), and tbh i think jim would go for john exclusively to fuck with sherlock. John/mycroft.. was never even on my radar? Maybe it was complacenty given that fandom decided mycroft is for lestrade, but i can honestly say i have never ever even contemplated it until you mentioned it just now. How would it work? Their common ground is sherlock, isn't it, and can any relationship work when there is a tall, dark, wannabe sociopath in the middle of it?

Zum Lazarus - Heine: reminds me of Ivan Karamazov, i don't think i can explain it well but it's kind of a criticism of guessing and hypothesizing in regards to god when we don't know what he's up to?

Sonnet 112 - Shakespeare: i'm sorry, but i might as well be frothing at the mouth at "you are so strongly in my purpose bred, that all the world besides methinks are dead"

shame - nakahara chuuya: "why, oh why, this shame?" sfskdfhksdhk at this point i can't be coherent anymore i suppose; i've not read many of his works yet but i'm excited to read them

Loreley - Heine: captain is so mesmerized by a woman he sends his ship into the ocean; a classic, very nice, very enjoyable read

goethe and schiller are ofc very good poets but idk i haven't been hit in the face by them yk (at least not yet? or maybe school has made me immune to their writings idk, i did like faust a lot tho)

fontane in general has made some nice poems but i'm a bit traumatized by john maynard, like yeah good hero man and stuff but i can't take this serious anymore when i still hear my classmates and me singing that poem

elizabeth barrett browning!! probably especially "my heart and i", i've not read much of hers tho

okay that's like a good overview of what i like :3 again, sorry it took so long and this isn't nearly as long as i'd hoped it to be, but maybe i remember a poem or two later on that i've forgot to mention?
