House Warming - Bucky Barnes
Summary: Hopping through some standout moments in making Bucky's apartment a place worth coming home to. (This definitely could have been a headcanon but I refuse to do headcanons at this time.)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader
Word count: 2.6 k
Warnings: fluff with a lil angst
A/N: I have finished all the assignments left for my degree and decided to sit down and write today. This is probably trash but idc because it has been written and therefore I may as well release it. It's been a while since I've written and years since I've truly tried dipping my foot into a different fandom, but I figured I'd give it ago. Please don't forget to leave comments, I love interacting with y'all. Thank you @bwbattaâ for the dividers! xoxox
Masterlist
It all started with a damn candle. A âsandalwood & vanilla orchidâ candle tucked away in a reused cyan jar.
âI found it at the art market down the street last weekend,â you said as you placed it in the corner of the living room window. âYou know we have to support local business.â
âAnd I shouldnât assume this is your way of telling me my place smells, right?â Bucky quipped from the kitchen island, a cup of coffee in his hand and a lazy smile on his face. Heâd just gotten back from a 12-day mission with Sam, and the last thing he had on his to-do list was to buy candles.
The smile grew firmer as you put yourself into his arms. âComplete opposite, actually. I bought it cause I thought it smelled just like you.â You hid your face within his chest, and he thanked the stars that you couldnât see the warmth rising in his cheeks. His barren apartment felt a little bigger with a candle in the windowsill.
From there it became decorative pillows⌠and a couch to hold them. The small living room had quickly become a mess by the time you both had brought it up to his fourth-floor apartment, furniture wrap and packing peanuts strewn everywhere.
âI still donât know why you needed to buy a sofa this big,â Bucky grumbled as he leaned over the back of the beige three-seater, looking down at your splayed out across its cushions.
âDonât get me wrong, babe. I love the transient bachelor look youâve got going on here, but you need more furniture than an armchair,â you mumbled between heavy breaths as you tried to regain control from maneuvering the couch into the apartment.
âAnd the pillows?â A laugh fell from your lips as you watched him look at the indigo cushions with a remarkable amount of disdain. Who buys pillows made just to look nice on a couch?
âThey add character.â
âI didnât think character was an area we were lacking in. Transient bachelor, remember?â He walked around the couch and shifted you over so he could lay beside you. You instinctively curled into him as you both closed your eyes. For a second the place felt like home. âI also don't know how you plan for us both to fit on this couch every day along with the pillows.â
âDonât worry about it,â You looked up from his chest with a mischievous glint that made his heart skip. âItâs a pullout bed too. Iâm sure itâll be firm enough even for you.â
The home improvements didnât stop there, but Bucky refused to admit how much he enjoyed them.
He liked having a place and person to come home to. After you had bought neutral bedding for his room, youâd spent an evening putting together âhis and hersâ trestle bookcases for either side of the bed. Heâd try to keep up his crabbish demeanor as you argued that âyou needed a place to set your books for when you slept over,â and a side table could no longer contain the small collection you had spilling over. Even still, he couldnât find it in himself to banter much about the minor changes you made to make the place feel lived in.
And God, did he love living with you around. Between missions, his continued therapy, and trying to find his place in a world that had tripled in opportunity since his youth, he knew that he never had to question who he was and where he fit in when he walked through that door. You still occasionally slept at your own apartment when he was away, but he could always count on you being asleep in his bed by the time he came home.
One toothbrush in a glass became two, and from there, hand creams, face masks, and cotton pads cluttered the bathroom counter, packed away in their clear containers. You had made sure to keep lavender bath salts on hand for the late-night baths you took together when he woke up in a panic, unable to close his eyes again for fear of falling back into a nightmare.
It took time and working through plenty of hesitation before Bucky could progress from sleeping on the pull-out sofa to the bed, but ever since, you found your nights attended by restlessness whenever you werenât wrapped in his arms.
Once your lease was up and you had a lengthy conversation about your inability to rest without him, you quickly filled the apartment with brown boxes. Bucky had been no less than astounded by how much you fit into them. From then on, no nook or cranny was without a vase or shelf.
âHow many mugs does one house need,â Bucky asked skeptically while he continued to carefully pull them from their paper wrappings.
âOh, come on! Theyâre fun!â You exclaimed, wrapping an arm around his waist as you took the Charlie Brown mug from his metal palm. âPlus, we go through enough coffee around here to justify some extra mugs.â
After you put the mug into the lowest shelf of the cabinet, you busied yourself with filing away the spices one cabinet over. No matter how much he tried, Bucky couldnât pull his eyes away from you, lost in your own world as you chipped away at unpacking your belongings, making yours his, and vice versa. The domesticity in the little things you did was something he could get used to, and he wanted to return the feeling of normalcy as much as he could. He was far from the average boyfriend, but you remind him that could be a good thing. You never wanted to be average, but in these small moments, as you both did what normal couples do, he felt that he could create a new normal with you.
âSo your Christmas gift came in already, and itâs too big to hide.â Your awkward tone carried over the phone as he exited a station ten minutes away from the apartment. Even though his neck ached and the cold nipped at the top of his ears, he couldnât stop himself from releasing a breathy laugh.
âI thought you said you were good at this gift-giving thing, doll,â he teased you as he maneuvered his way to your shared apartment.
âOh, donât you fret, baby. I am the best gift-giver in all of New York City. I just slightly miscalculated how big this thing was and have realized it wonât fit into our closet.â
He tsked with a smirk on his face. âIf you say so.â
âHey, you gave me my Christmas gift a week ago.â
âYeah, thatâs because I didnât know if Iâd be back before Christmas.â
âWell, you will be, and Iâm glad you are,â your voice softened lovingly as he pulled out his keys to the front of the building.
Bucky had gotten used to your love, but heâd vow to never take it for granted. All the pain heâd endured had somehow led him to you, the person who didnât see his broken pieces as a burden or a project but as a potential to be whatever he desired.
When he hung up the call and unlocked the apartment, his brows furrowed into one; the apartment was pitch black. It was only when he heard your soft footstep walking towards the entrance that his face relaxed.
Before he could even kiss you, you had your palms firmly placed over his eyes. âNo peeking; your gift is in the living room.â
The uncertainty in what you could have got him made his stomach clench. âIs it an animal?â
You slowly dragged him through the front hallway, making sure to avoid crashing into the entryway storage table. âIâm sorry to say itâs not alive.â
âIs it a nice welcome-home spread with candles, fruit, and the pullout bed all set up?â
He could feel your eyes roll to completion. âEasy there, sergeant. Thatâs for later.â You pulled him down to sit on the couch, and he kept his eyes closed as you pulled your palms away, moving to turn on a lamp. âOkay, Buck. open up.â
When he opened his eyes, it took him a moment to understand what he was seeing nestled against the wall; when he did recognize it, he could only form two words âHoly shit.â
âHoly shit indeed.â
He was quick to stand up and cross the room, eager to get a good look at the walnut centerpiece. âDoes it work?â
You scoffed as you moved to kiss his cheek. âWhat kind of girlfriend would get her ancient boyfriend a broken phonograph console?â
He didnât even attempt to answer as he bent down to wrap his arms around you, his lips eager to find yours. âA fucking Magnavox radio and phonograph,â he mumbled against your lips.
âA working Magnavox radio and phonograph, you mean.â When you pulled away and saw that his face held a glow reserved only for special occasions, you knew you had made the right choice. âIâve got some records wrapped up if you want to open those now too.â
You yelped in surprise as he picked you up and made his way towards your bedroom. âIâve got something else Iâd like to unwrap first.â
Bucky Barnes had grown up in a period when the average family could seldom afford nice things or much of anything at all. The Great Depression has resulted in the slogan âMake it do or Do without,â being ingrained into what memories he still had, and 'doing without' had become commonplace for the Barnes household.
Thatâs why every gadget and gizmo you added to your household left him in awe. For much of his life, including the decades he spent as a weapon for Hydra, he hadnât been allowed to call anything his own; he was still getting used to living so plentifully, both in love and in life. But now, he could barely move and he thought it had all been taken away from him.
The attack was supposed to have been contained, at least three miles away from the apartment. Anything less, and he would have made you visit your family upstate instead of just suggesting it. By the time Sam had told him that thereâd been some confirmed damage within a block of the apartment, Bucky was already on his way home. He couldnât think of anything but the worse: you trapped in a collapsing apartment building or pulling up to find no building there at all.
He felt his lungs fill with air again as he pulled up to your building, completely intact regardless of the severe damage less than a five-minute walk away. It felt like both seconds and hours between when he parked his outside and unlocked the front door.
âHe doesnât have his phone on him, mom. How am I supposed toâŚâ you trailed off from your call as he walked into the living room, turning your head away from the Breaking News report youâd been glued to for the last hour. âWait, Iâll call you back. Yeah, Iâm fine. Iâll call you back.â Your eyes never left his as he walked over to you, hanging up the phone with worry in your eyes. âBuck, are you oka-â
You couldnât even finish your sentence before he pulled you off of the couch and into his arms. His grip was less reserved than he usually kept, but he made sure not to hurt you, eager to keep you in his arms, where he knew you were safe. A single tear fell from the corner of his eyes as he realized the real possibility that he could have lost you if you lived even 5 minutes closer to the attack. You stayed like that for a while, gathered tightly in his arms as you both settled onto the floor You didnât push him to verbalize his fear; you already understood it. And it took this occurrence for him to realize he never wanted to experience this feeling again.
Bucky was quiet for the rest of the evening, and while it worried you, his fear had been evident enough not to require questioning. The city-wide cleanup had lasted all hours of the night; for the first time in all the years you had lived in the city, the sounds of the whirring of vehicles clearing debris off the street had been too close to ignore. The sun was rising before a single word was said between you and Bucky, tangled together on the sofa as the first ray of light made itself known.
âYouâve spent so much time piecing this place together, doll.â His voice was raspy. You know he hates when you see him cry, but his pain was always evident in his voice. âAnd it could have been all wiped away in seconds.â You let a heavy silence settle between you as you traced a pattern into his shoulder. He couldnât bear to say it, but you knew what he meant: You could have been gone within seconds. âI just⌠I donât ever want to feel like this again.â
Youâd both gone through so much to make your relationship work. Nearly normal was as close as you would ever attain to being an average couple. The distance, the days without contact, and the ever-present fear that anything could pull you away from one another was something that had taken time to work through.
You looked around the living room and saw the place you had built together. There were photos and books scattered on any flat surface, a leftover mug half-filled with cold tea, and a record left out on the phonograph. The apartment looked like what love felt like; a messy combination of everything you and Bucky. But this apartment could not contain everything that âhomeâ was; only Bucky could do that.
The words fell from your mouth before you could restrain them. âMaybe we should move.â
Your eyes found each other, and you both sat in silence, though it felt lighter, invigorated with the new proposition.
Before he even responded, you could see tension dissolve from his shoulders. âWhere do you want to move?â
You hadnât thought that far ahead, only being able to provide him with a shrug. âI donât know⌠maybe upstate, maybe somewhere else.â
âYour mom would like you being Upstate.â
âMy mom would love us living next door too, but I donât see that in the cards anytime soon.â You got a ghost of a smile for that.
âWe could probably afford a house if we moved out there,â he said as he moved his lips to meet your forehead.
âBuck, Iâd move anywhere with you. As long as we have each other, then we have all we need to rebuild this place.â
He pressed soft kisses to the crown of your head, and you swore you felt his chest flutter. âTomorrow, Iâm gonna look for some places, bigger ones too.â He tilted your head up to find your eyes, and you were sure that all of the love you carried for each other was incredibly visible at that moment. âYou have made this apartment something worth coming home to. Now let me give you a house to make a home.â Your skin tingled with adoration as you pulled him as close as possible, burying your face into his neck.
You didnât want to let go. You wanted to lay in this room, in this bed, and in this moment until the end of time, but you knew that something bigger and better was on the horizon for you and Bucky.
âAll I heard is that youâre buying me a house.â His laugh was music to your ears.

RadioDust is the Healthiest Toxic Ship for Angel so far
@honesthazbinarchivesâ Briefly. Iâd like to go into this more in the future BUT these are the main points I said Iâd do. Heh âstay tunedâ for why HuskerDust is toxic [haaaa funny fuckin reference n shit like Viv herself aint overdone it]. Yer dont even wanna know the lack of enthusiasm in tryna do a playful âcringetopiaâ joke - wasnt as fun as anticipated. Anyfuckinways, the shit. Before we begin, disclaimers n whatnot, no hate intended, dni if youâre a bit of a knobhead [either stan or extreme anti], an all that nonsense. I dont own the characters no shit. In this Iâll discuss how RadioDust aka SpiDEER (thats right, yer stuck w my shit humour now) is both the healthiest ship for Angel weâve seen so far but still rather toxic. Idc if you hate me for it but dont fuckin waste yer time telling me. Great. I dont care. Yer fuckin hard n whatnot for harassin strangers online. Big dick energy to you. This will be slightly messy, my apologies, itâs a quick summary of many points.
Alright. Firstly, out of the entire male cast Angel interacts with over all platforms, Al is given a fair bit of mercy in terms of sexual advances. In fact, a swift ânoâ and Angel doesnât do it again - unlike most of the other cast [pentâs is covert, husks is overt]. One thing I like is that Angel himself admits to their chemistry (claiming that whilst he thinks Alâs a prick, he thinks Al dislikes him which saddens him as heâd at least like to be friends as he feels they have good chemistry - according to the VA via Hunicastâs 1yr anniversary), thereâs no further efforts to jump on his dick but a clear curiosity/interest in what Al can do. Lets go to the basics, both are of similar age [allegedly in their 30s, though Ive heard Al may be up to mid 40s] as well as created near the same-ISH time (as in, Vivâs oldest characters, at least for HH). Likewise, Viv admitted to knowing fuck all on either of their eras (and to make that public wasnât really a wise choice BUUUT if you felt the need, itâs better worded with interest âRight now Iâm working towards educating myself more on their time periods to improve their portrayalsâ <-- crucial if yer want that ârealismâ). Because of their real-world ages, Viv confesses theyâre her favourites (even if you didnt know, she makes it pretty clear). It could be a nice âhomageâ to their impact in her life but not too relevant otherwise. It could fulfil the need for self indulgence that sheâs unhealthily leaking into the canon - which will ultimately make the series shit. No sugarcoating there. As for their ages, a relationship can work whether the gap is large or small HOWEVER there are many ethics and conflicts to each. And being an adult into kids is always fucked up. With that being said, studies have shown that closer ages often work better due to the often similarities in mindset, maturity and life goals (older folks are more likely to want to settle, younger often have more ambitions), likewise there tends to be an unbalanced power-dynamic if the ages are too far, which can lead to various types of abuse. Dont get me wrong, being with someone much older (AS LONG AS NONE OF YALL ARE KIDS) very much CAN work - but rarely. Thereâs much more hardwork needed as well as being in the right mindset for both, otherwise itâs bad. More on that in HD. Long story short, both are closer in age meaning both are more ârelatableâ to one another. Thereâs common grounds, even in the eras thereâs some higher understanding of one another. Notice how Vaggie and Charlie are similar in age? (Even though Charlie is far older, her appearance and mentality for her race is on par with Vaggieâs, making it far more likely to work out positively) One of the most prominent out of all of this however is their actual interests. So listing; Both like action/chaos/having fun (often at the expense of others), both love cooking and can be food snobs in their own right, both have sadistic AND masochistic tendencies, Al likes performance and theatre whilst Angel loves *to* perform, on that last point Angel was very intrigued and enjoyed Alâs song number/performance naturally, both really enjoy pranks and both enjoy liquor (neither show an actual addiction, but rather an interest in social drinking - no dependencies on it). Again, close eras mean both have a higher probability of understanding the other and their lifestyles better. Both are high on appearance and love themselves, implying self confident mindset (healthy BUT the narcissism isnt) yet enough consideration for how they are viewed. On the parent system, one adores his mama whilst the other hates his pops. Now Ive gone on about how theyâre similar. But similarities ALONE is not enough. If it was, then fandomâs would be a lil more harmonious~ A HEALTHY relationship needs compatibility, POSITIVE conversation flow, common grounds, trust, openness and understanding. Even then, some people click and some just dont. Itâs like how you can just hate someone for no reason. It just IS. Common grounds and similarity is scientifically proven to be attractive to someone - be it good or BAD. People are drawn to those like their parents in some way usually, likewise we look for people similar to ourselves (from our interests, to humour, beliefs, goals, etc). Science itself states that âopposites attractâ solemnly applies in the real world successfully. Though similiarity plays a large role, there has to be some differences too - that person is STILL an individual separate to yourself. Too similar and itâs boring. Too similar and youâll do everything together without some âyouâ time. Both Vaggie and Charlie have similar interests/hobbies in dance and music, yet still have enough differences to be identifiable when together. Vaggie is more grounded than Charlie. Charlie gives some optimism and fun to Vaggie. Remember, a partner does NOT complete you - thatâs a toxic mindset when taken too seriously, You complete YOURSELF. Whether you have someone or not, you must feel complete in yourself as to not slip into toxic dependency on a lover - to become them, a shadow of them or feel like youâve lost your identity without them. Sounds harsh but itâs true. Chaggie compliments each other without a dependency. You stand alone yet uplift one another. You donât always agree but in the end you always have each otherâs backs. Love is often butchered in a toxic light in the media. So taking that into consideration, how does spideer work? Well, hereâs some examples of good, bad and neutral: - Angel loves animals, Al fears/dislikes dogs. Perhaps Angel could assist him in overcoming this? - Al hates being touched, Angel dislikes being squeezed. Maybe this could help them reach an understanding... Or cause a rift? - Angel was the only one to break Alâs composure, either Angel is the *key* to delving further into Alâs more raw self... Or just another obVOXious pest? (yeah, I said it-) - Neither respect otherâs boundaries, meaning both may fuel the other to be overly disrespectful in this area. Not good. - Angel is a sarky/sarcastic fuck, Al loves dry humour. Both seek amusement and chaos. In relationships one needs to see how conversation flows and in the hunicasts, both keep up some good as well as toxic banter. Both could roast the fuck out of an opponent however. - Al is acro/ace, Angel is hypersexual (appears like a sex addict - now I say this as his book has a crossed out âfun stuffâ with âwork shitâ written on it. Heâs always fixed on sex from his job to his humour), this could either aid Angel ease up on the sex stuff OR make him overly push it onto Al causing major rifts and discomfort (aces can have sex, ref to ace posts that real asexuals put to understand more but no one wants to be forced into sex is the point here). And weâve already discussed their lack of respect for boundaries. The positive is that maybe this will make Angel understand how Val is rubbing off on his own behaviour towards men [again, more on that in the HD post]. - Both similar yet different in a way that does suit their compatibility chances but that doesnt mean they will click, it just improves the odds. - Both have similar enemies in Val and Vox, theyâre on common terms. Likewise, Al is against the âsexual devianceâ of hell meaning he may be oddly supportive and protective of Angel in terms of Val. I dont even think his sadism will override this either. - Al dislikes modern tech, Angel seems to use it as his job requires it. A nice little menial difference. - Only ONE is an addict. Take it from an expert, you NEVER put two addicts together. Theyâre very vulnerable and prone to slipping deeper into their addictions as well as depending on each other too much that they essentially become very clingy, suffocating and toxic to each other. Seen it in action, itâs ugly. - Both could have a lot of fun and calm moments with each other. - He isnât immediately smitten with Al but immediately shows a natural interest in Alâs powers and performance, embracing it openly. Leads for a good friendship turned lovers plot. - In Vivâs patreon, she confirmed Angel loves confident guys [sounds exactly like Al] We need to think about where both are mentally. What benefits would a relationship give both? How would they be good and bad for each other? For Al, aside from his outdated views and being a fucking murderer and narcissist, he actually seems in a good mindspace for a relationship IF he opted to be in one. Angel however has a very immature mindset, likewise is in a phase of life where hes bed hopping. IF he were to be in a relationship, Iâd say he needs a male equivalent of Cherri - someone with a similar mindset yet some differences, willing to have fun and in touch with their younger side, down to cuddle, open to share and receive love as well as not afraid to publicly be affectionate with him, someone who sees him as more than just for sex, someone fun, someone whoâll let him embrace his cutesy side publicly without shame - Cherri is younger so maybe someone whoâs his age or slightly younger perhaps? I think Angelâs not retirement home ready to settle and needs someone on his level that can cuddle and chill as well as feels free and youthful enough to go wild with him. In one sense, heâs got a teen girl sorta mindset (dont put him with a teen though, itâs fuckin weird-). He needs someone positive and raw, someone to let him be himself as well as someone comfortable to be themselves around him. He has a habit of latching onto unobtainable men (in psychology, this is self sabotaging subconsciously): Travis the client, Val a pimp, Husk (emotionally unavailable and needs HEAVY self work - interestingly far more than Angel - plus heâs still onto his last relationship and an addict to gambling and alcohol), Pent whoâs the enemy he was currently fighting (inappropriate timing), Alastor whoâs not interested in another but his own needs [selfish, VERY bad for a relationship]. Subconsciously heâs self sabotaging on purpose. Thereâs many psychology books as well as sources online for this, if youâre interested. Either way, Angel is drawn to men either like his father [who dislike him, shun him, or are otherwise cold, abusive or just blatantly dislike or otherwise dont care about him] or anyone with money to fuel his drug addiction/âdebtâ to Val. Going with any of these men isnât a good idea. Preferably, Angel needs someone who he doesnt immediately crush and obsess over. Someone who he doesnt sexually harass or assault. Someone he can build a connection with quickly that can bud into romance (think how Chaggie started as a friendship which clicked immediately). Maybe even someone he doesnât expect to fall for but does so anyways. It would be more realistic as Viv wants as well as more healthy. That for once he isnt sex or money craved instantly, thus doesnt sexually harass/assault and is given a proper chance to develop and grow a friendship and love. Someone who isnt an addict. Someone with an on-par mindset where they click. Someone open to love. For any chance of a good relationship, Angel needs to be with anyone BUT who weâve already seen. Thereâs too much toxicity thatâll be swept under the rug and justified otherwise. Too much shit to fuel homophobes in terms of gay stereotypes. Even though Ive focused a fair bit on Angel, itâs NOT just about Angel. Thatâs something fans forget. Some he depends on or someone who depends on him in the long term wont last and will be very dangerous to both. Just because you suffer, you dont then deserve to be rewarded with âsomething niceâ. You dont get to have everything youve ever wanted. Giving him any of these blokes [minus Val] gives him a pass. Gives him what he wants. I get Viv loves him but life doesnt work that way. True lasting growth comes from learning that. Acceptance and growth. You dont get everything you want and sometimes thats a GOOD thing. Heâs not a spoilt kid who gets everything he asks for, heâs YOUR creation. If you really wanted what your creations deserve then you need to research and be realistic with it. Because hes starting to feel like a shitty Gary-Stu at this rate. I live with an âAngel Dustâ like person. It used to feel like life gave her everything and most times it did. Everyone loved her and she could get away with murder if she wanted to. But now sheâs had to struggle and grow, let go of some âwantsâ because they werent good for her and sheâs becoming better for it. She has a long way but sheâs more humble for it now [still got self confidence but itâs less narcissism now, which is more healthy for her]. Also, they make the word anal lol
#stans and antis dni#pros and cons to radiodust#spideer#anti hazbin#viv needs to actually research#vivs been in toxic relationships so she should know better and how these come across#wait until anti huskerdust#ill really be fuckin loathed then#anyways#enjoy?

What are your top pokemon games??
Official or fangame? Iâll just list both. I will say Pokemon Reborn is my top-rated overall if we combine both lists (with HGSS and Collesseum/XD following as 2 and 3 respectively.)
On Official, itâsÂ
1. Heartgold/Soulsilver (My favorite region is Johto, and Ethan is my favorite Pokemon protagonist soâŚunsurprising. The games are still genuinely good though imo because of the massive amount of content and post-game and QoL stuff like following Pokemon, auto-run, etc.) I also love the nostalgic feeling of the region. Lance is also here, and I like him and his design a lot, not as much as Volkner though. Also Proton is here, and I love the dude so. Pedometer is included here.
2. Pokemon Colosseum/Pokemon XD; I include this together since theyâre a duo set in terms of story. XD is the better one gameplay-wise because of the new additions of Shadow moves, more Pokemon choices, QoL changes like saving, etc. but Colosseum is the harder of the two games imo b/c of the sparsity of Pokemonâif you can play it on laptop, mod XD with Pokemon XG for massive QoL changes (Fairy Type, more shadow Pokemon, upped difficulty, etc.)
I like how this set tries new stuff and it honestly showcases how if you the Pokemon IP to a third-party, you end up with something that tries to be different and actually plays pretty well.
3. Pokemon BWBW2; included as a set because of joint story line. Honestly, I feel like BWBW2 are objectively the last great mainline series additions. Even if you didnât care for the story, they at least tried with it and the rivals. You had the nice rival in Bianca and the âfocused/ruderâ rival in Cheren, and both encompassed the themes of the game (Truth with Bianca as she realizes her ineptness as a trainer and Ideals with Cheren who strives to overcome his boundaries and the player even if he never can). N is pretty awesome, and I think Ghetsis is a better Lusamine (sorry, idc for how Lusamineâs actions are brushed over and blamed on the space jellyfish). Thereâs a lot to enjoy in Unova imo.
Also massive post-game stuff like Join Avenue (which encourages one of the main tenets of Pokemon, interacting with others and trading; ex. âMagnemite Coilâ), half the region opening up for Post-game (White Treehollow, Kyuremâs abode, etc.). The Legendaries also have home locations for the most part, and their items arenât just given to you by random people. A lot of stuff to do that isnât just breeding mindlessly for shinies (I mean I love doing that, but options ya know?) or online battle.
4. Pokemon Conquest; Fire Emblem (or more accurately, Nobunagaâs ambition) meets Pokemon. I like turn-based grid tactic games, and this oneâs actually pretty fun. Youâre encouraged to roam around and give people different Pokemon to see which ones theyâre compatible with. Also another example of what can be done if Pokemon is given to a another developer.
5. Pokemon Explores of Sky (and to a lesser extent since itâs the base, Time/Darkness); you can swap this with Colloseum/XD, BWBW2 or Pokemon Conquest depending on if you prefer Pokemonâs style of play, tactics games, or dungeon crawlers. I like this one since the storyâs actually pretty good, the difficultyâs nice, and especially the post-game dungeons and content.
6. Pokemon Platinum and Diamond+Pearl to a lesser extentâ the region that actually has a reasonably difficult Elite Four and champion. I love the additions they have like distortion world, the melancholic feel you get at times in the Chateau area and snowfields, and the post-game Battle Frontier. However, the games run so slow without Drayanoâs mods. In terms of husbandos, Volknerâs pretty nice as well, and heâs pretty high-tier for me. Cynthiaâs here as well, so I guess she counts since sheâs a feature every time she shows up.
7. Pokemon FRLG-The definite version of Kanto for me. Sevii Islands, callbacks (callforwards?) to the Johto games with the Rocket Admins, decent difficulty and ability to sequence break somewhat, etc. It gives new experiences for those whoâve played the OG versions, but doesnât change them drastically. The âyou canât evolve anything outside of the OG 151 before post-gameâ is stupid though. Lance is here as well, but his half Dragonite/Dragonair team annoys me b/c of how repetitive it is, but product of the time as well and the HGSS first battle had that as well but at least theyâre all evolved.
8. Pokemon Red/Blue Rescue Team-I like this one since the storyâs still good and incorporates the idea of a human being transported to a Pokemon world, but I just feel like Skyâs gameplay improvements and portraits for everyone trumps this one. I like Gengar a lot and his team. I also think the difficulty on this one (depending on starter and partner) is fairly good at times (The Moltres fight is actually pretty difficult if you donât have Pikachu or a water type partner).
9. Pokemon Emerald and to a lesser extent Ruby/SapphireâBattle Frontier, Scott and Smeargle cave (ie. post-game content), beautiful promotional artwork (including ORASâs), fairly difficult battles at time if you arenât prepared/going in blind with no excessive grinding (2nd May battle, Flannery, etc.), hidden secrets like Regis and Secret Bases. However, the latter half is so boring with the excessive surfing and lackluster variety. Stevenâs here, and heâs a dreamboat even with the sprite graphics.
10. Pokemon Channel and Hey you, Pikachu!-Weird I know. This would be higher if I didnât think this was a niche pick. Itâs just really relaxing, and I want another one, especially if you can get more Pokemon to raise. Itâs a lot more fun once you play it. I like exploring with Pikachu and it offers a look into the world of Pokemon as a non-trainer. I really want another one tbh.
11. Pokemon Rangers series (Ranked from favorite to lowest; Shadows of Almiaâ>OGâ>Guardian Signs; all are good but thatâs my preference) The gameplay is actually pretty fun, and I wish we got another one. They could use Joycons as a styler. Spencer, Sven, and Lunick are also pretty cute
12. Pokken Tournament- What battles should feel like in mainline if they injected millions of dollars into the mainline, so unrealistic expectation. I think Pokken is a decent fighting game. The moves are nice, and the music is good. This can go lower if you donât care for fighting games.
13. Pokemon Battle Revolution and Stadium games-Theyâre mostly battle simulators with some mini-games. The animations are actually pretty lively and fun compared to SWSHâs. I would like to rank this higher, but there is no story mode sadly. Itâs great if you want to see what Pokemon would look like in-scale.
14. Pokemon X/Y-I think these are actually pretty nice if only for the fact there isnât excessive handholding; itâs there but it doesnât force me to put down the game out of boredom. The outfits are genuinely pretty cute. However, the rivals are ridiculously terrible, difficulty is either too low or unbalanced if you use/turn off exp. share. Letâs put ORAS here as well b/c I think the lack of Battle Frontier and mediocre post-game, getting Lati@s early, etc. drops it down from Emerald. The PSS system is amazing though.
15. Pokemon Trozei and Pokemon Pinball series-Yeah, Iâve played these. Trozeiâs actually pretty cool as a match-3 game, and pinball is pinball. You also get slightly more lore into the Pokemon world with Lucy Fleetfoot. I like match-3 and pinball so very much a YMMV. Pop Gates to Infinity and Super Mystery Dungeon here as well. Idk, they just lack the magic of the first two entries.
16. Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Dash, all the other spin-offs I didnât talk about-they all offer something fun, but I just wish it was either updated for modern times and not released again (like with Snap) or a bit more (in the case of Detective Pikachu and Pokepark series). Pop Puzzle League games here as well. I like them, but they arenât much besides Tetris games. Same goes for the Pokemon Trading Card games; theyâre nice, but not super great imo.
???. Pokemon Box/Ranch/all the other storage games and stuff like Dream Radar-Idk what youâd want me to say since theyâre storage space or gimmick games to catch HA Pokemon. You do get Extremespeed Zigzagoon which I love since the little buggers are very adorable.
Bottom Tier. Pokemon SM and USUM. I hate these games. Theyâre cash grabs (more so than usual) with being $40 a piece and the updated versions being barely changed (and actually feeling like what should have been released first). Incredibly handholding, areas feel half-baked, lacks areas to explore for the most part, Lillie is kinda annoying for me tbh (which hurts because youâre supposed to feel for her and the gameâs story hinges on that), and the player is an actual detriment to what theyâre trying to achieve story-wise. A big shame b/c Alola is a pretty region and Team Skull is great in concept, but execution is awful. Stated as someone who has bought all 4 versions to keep, and 2 extras for gifting.
Absolute Bottom Tier- Pokemon Masters, incredibly terrible mobage game coming from someone who plays FGO, FEH, etc. lack of meaningful content, grinding but meaningless b/c of said lack of content (ex. FGO gates you with mats but it makes you feel like youâre growing with your servants and offers a story and events to compensate; basically, a sense of achievement). CO-OP is pretty bad when you can just hop over to GBF or something if you want guilds and group content. Iâm still gonna wait for Ethan and Volkner to appear though.
Unrated-OG RBGY and OG GSC (the remakes are superior outside of nostalgia factor imo so I think itâd be unfair for them to take a spot), LGPE (didnât buy them b/c pricing but the colors are vibrant and I love that), SWSH (didnât buy them because I have opinions on the cuts and stuff and price point doesnât look appealing for whatâs offered), Pokemon Mini (these were included with Pokemon Channel), Magikarp Jump+Duel (Duel was a cash grab and Magikarp Jump is cute but no real opinion on it), Pokemon Go (weird spot where I like it, but I donât live in an area with safe walking areas so very much area-dependent), Arcade games (I donât live in Japan for that), Perdue Farm games (theyâre flash games made to promote soâŚ), Pokemon Rumble (enjoyable but not memorable for me imo) etc.
Fangames-
1. Pokemon Reborn-150+ hours of content, visible themes that permeate the story and characters, beautiful spritework for some of the areas, intuitive usage of TMs/HMs and some logic (ex. Field Effects that emulate anime battling in turn-based rpg such as Corrosive Field; using Rock Smash to break the glass in some areas to solve puzzles, etc.), actual difficulty that hinges on how much you understand Pokemon (ex. IVs, stats, EVs, etc.) thatâs fair but still difficult, puzzles and rewards for exploring and coming back to areas, etc. Fantastic game that I wish Gamefreak had attempted to emulate (perhaps not the darker themes but the ambition basically). Has some kinks with the revolving door of characters and such but still fantastic. Also offers custom shiny sprites, custom egg sprites, and online play like Wonder Trade and battling.
2. Pokemon Rocket Edition-Not done but I think this is a fantastic hack so far story-wise and how it implements its mechanics. Youâre a Rocket Grunt, but you arenât OP. It deals with the politics behind Kanto and Team Rocket. Still being worked on.
3. Pokemon Viridian Version-Another âplay as a Rocketâ game. Funny yet still can be serious; it takes the tone of the anime and understands when to be serious and when to not be. It feels like it would fit into the canon tone-wise, and deconstructs the âitâs cool to be a Rocket!â thing.
4. Pokemon Gaia-Excellent and a huge callback to classic Pokemon in story. Itâs an OG region and offers a lot to do.
5. Drayano hacks- QoL updates but his work actually adds a lot to the games+new events.
Anyways, thatâs my list. Thereâs a lot of Pokemon content, but this is how I feel for the most part.

angel, pumpkin, kitten and princess for the cute nicknames, pls?
Thank you,bb! <3
angel - whatâs one character trait you like about yourself?
That Iâm loyal. Idc much about what someone does to me,I care more about if they hurt someone I love or care about. I will fight for those I care for. If youâre my friend then you are my friend.
pumpkin - whatâs your favourite weather and why?
Rain. Obvious reasons. I love the sound and smell of rain. Or those beautiful fall days where itâs breezy but not too cold, leaves flying everywhere and slightly overcast. Yes. Both are just so comforting to me.
kitten - are you a dog person or a cat person?
Iâm an animal person. I love both cats and dogs but have had more cats than dogs. Partially bc cats are easier but I love em both equally. Which is why I let the dog someone in my neighborhood is training jump all over me when he sees me. He literally just does nothing but try and hop on you. Itâs amazing.
princess - if you could live in any other time period, which would it be?
The Georgian Era/1797 bc P&P...but also like any period in time people dressed like they were fucking vampires. Iâm about.

so I like......passed out midway through my day post last night haha which I blame on the new brand of melatonin I just started, like Iâve done this one before but idk these pills were apparently super potent. good information to have. but I should finish my day because it was actually sort of interesting at points. so I worked on my project through lunch, and then after lunch I went back to court and I can remember at least two cases, there may have been more but meh. the first was disposition/permanency for these two adorable little girls who now have their great-grandparents acting as their foster parents (great!! grandparents!! I never even met any of my great grandparents! I never even met one of my grandmothers!!) and as far as Iâm concerned if youâre that old (they didnât look like they were gonna like, keel over and die, but they were probably in their early 70s Iâd say) and willing to raise an infant and a two year old you should probably be promoted to saint hood. but they came in with their great grandparents and the judge gave them presents, one was the âif you give a mouse a cookieâ book with an accompanying stuffed animal for the baby, and a madeline book and doll for the two year old (so cute!!!) and I was basically making faces at the two year old for most of the hearing (which caused her to laugh on several occasions and literally everyone in the courtroom awwâed out loud. both parents are MIA. they asked the foster dad if he wanted to say anything and he stood up and gave a very impassioned speech about how much he loves these two girls and how theyâve had them since birth, and how they want to adopt them and it was just really sweet. The court call was taking alllllllllll day and we knew we had a TC to get in which had gotten SOJâed (if you were paying attention during LARC trial brief season last year, you know that stands for substitution of judge) from another calendar and they wanted a hearing (though our judge was like hey idc man they can wait). one of the other lawyers on our calendar was starting it but she had to leave at like 4:45. I like, half jokingly asked if I could take over when she left but my boss said since I didnât have time to read the DCP packet before it started we should wait for another one lol (which ended up being funny because he took over and didnât get to ask any questions, and after I was like âI couldâve done that!!â đ) but yeah, the TC was interesting. the official allegations from the call was like 1) mom was hitting the kids 2) mom told the four year old âthe devil is inside peopleâ and 3) mom was acting weird, like waking the kids up at midnight to take a bath. but yeah it was pretty apparent the mom had some sort of mental illness and things were that much more crazy because mom needed a translator (which as Iâve said before I only note because itâs another person always talking in the courtroom, and it never fails to make things that much more chaotic) and the PDâs cross was like, I donât even know what youâre trying to prove right now lol. but yeah that barely ended by the time we hit 5, so I headed upstairs and got my stuff, hopped on the bus then walked a bit and got to the starbucks Iâve been hanging out in between work and small group (since I havenât been going to the kickboxing gym, anyway, since the back issue). there I continued to work on my mission based lawyering project and got a few more pages done (7 total for the day, which I was good with). around 7:15 I walked over to the church, and it was just a little chillier than I wouldâve liked, but oh well. it was the last day of small group, which I didnât know in advance which made me slightly sad but weâre gonna like, get together and do dinner next week or something so thatâs good. it was a good small group, we just kind of went around and talked about what we got out of the group and everything, and yeah it was just good, it made me happy. There is the guy Iâve been talking about, who I just casually chatted with a bit more (and Iâm Facebook friends now). But thereâs also this other guy that Iâm not attracted to or anything but wanted to talk about a little. I donât want to say heâs like, quirky, but his social cues are definitely a little off, and I wouldnât be surprised if he was on the spectrum somewhere. heâs older, than me anyways, probably like late 30â˛s early 40â˛s. he like, will go on talking about something for long periods of time, and heâs been talking about this situation where heâs getting forced out of his job basically. but the other night when I was like sick and felt like shit I emailed my small group leaders saying I was and asking for prayer, so they emailed it out to everybody just saying I was sick, and he emailed me back saying he was praying and then started talking about how he had heard from somebody at New Jersey transit about a job and idk, it all just struck me as really adorable. but I think thatâs all I hate to say about small group, basically. I headed home from there and the bus managed to not completely suck, and I got home pretty late but I wasnât stuck in the cold for too long so that was good. I unwound a bit and watched Powerless which was hilarious as always, and I canât remember if I watched anything else but I donât think I did. and then I went to bed. okay, just had to get all that out and finish yesterday.
