Sometimes I like to entertain the concept of some ships specifically because they're a little silly but not take them seriously at all. Like Phoenix and Godot, it fits Phoenix's type of people who are mean to him and I specifically think that it's funny for Godot to tell Phoenix that he reminds him of his dead girlfriend like... that's a little fruity but ok.
I'm here to have fun and sometimes it's fun to consider things that do not make any sense but are ultimately, just a little funny.

two minutes. that’s all it takes for the slip of paper to be practically shoved her way with a hushed request to deliver it pronto. and sure, rafa is undoubtedly confused by the entire thing, but when presented with an opportunity to play cupid, who’s she to turn that down? “so, someone thinks you're cute." here, the piece of paper is sheepishly handed over to its intended recipient, refusing to glance at what’s been written (it’s not meant for her eyes). "i think it might have a name? maybe even a number somewhere, if you wish to call them." a beat. “or it can just be thrown out, i guess. up to you.”

CATCHING MY BREATH, STARING OUT AN OPEN WINDOW
James Hook is based on Captain Hook from Peter Pan. He is a 38 year old human, antique shop owner, and uses he/him pronouns. He has no powers. James is portrayed by Theo James and he is taken.
CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE
Imagine being the ruler your own kingdom; a whole other world that no one but you could touch, able to manipulate time and feel the wind against unwrinkled skin forever. That was the life a young and adventerous James Hook led. Deemed the ruler of an island he named Neverland, James was not only a fierce and passionate leader of a crew of loyal pirates— but he was a powerful, untouchable, magical being. For years, James basked in immortality, quite literally shifted the sands of time, enjoyed the oceans of an island he knew to be his….until one day, as quickly as these luxuries were given, they were soon taken away upon the arrival of an… unwelcome guest; Peter Pan. Peter Pan somehow crossed the boarders into Neverland and was deemed, by the island it seemed, to be more worthy of the powers James had known for centuries. Suddenly, he was growing facial hair and unable to slow down the hours of the day when they passed by faster than he wanted them to. A once youthful, happy, and optimistic young boy became a grown man filled with a rage that couldn’t be quelled. He was a shell of who he once was, his care-free and whimsical attitude overruled by a vengeance that made his blood run cold. James Hook had lost everything because of Peter, and he made it his new life’s mission to make sure Peter paid for it. Then the Darlings came, and everything just seemed to get worse for the pirate captain. It felt like Peter’s power was only growing, the lost boys they were recruiting acting as a crew that constantly outwitted his own, and as James aged despite the island’s promise of eternal life, his fury grew as well. The day Wendy disappeared, and Peter went to look for her, James believed his powers would be restored. When they weren’t, and Peter was nowhere to be found, James stayed true to the only constant he had felt since losing everything; wanting to take everything from Peter in return. James boarded his ship, leaving his crew behind in case Peter came back, and returned to the mainland. He searched for what felt like an eternity, consistently coming up empty handed…. and just when he thought he was getting close, James’s search came to a screeching halt when he ended up crossing into a town named Evermore. A town he couldn’t leave. He had lost his powers, his home, his crew and now he was trapped - and it was all THEIR fault. If Peter was here, James was going to find them, and he was going to make sure they never took anything away from him again.
I HAD A FEELING SO PECULIAR
❀ Stanley Pines: James could appreciate a good scam, and whilst he considers his antique shop to be filled with treasures far more valuable than anything Stan’s gift shop could offer… James would be a liar to say he didn’t find amusement in conversating with a fellow conm- salesman. ❀ Brooklyn Utonium: Her optimism is…. insufferable. She reminds James so much of himself when he was young and actually enjoyed his life, and every time he sees her he just wants to… kick a puppy or something to make her cry. ❀ Jafar Mungur: This guy gets it; he is determined, passionate, respectable. He is one of the only people in this town James will go to for advice, as Jafar’s thirst for power and respect is one James admires deeply. He’ll happily buy the man a drink any day.
THAT THIS PAIN WOULD BE FOR EVERMORE

Not too deep into the bog of Whistlegrimm harbors a beautiful woman of glass with quite a tale behind her. The former Captain Cinderella, dressed in pirate-like gear, was once deemed the queen of the skies.
With two quick feet and a crew to her name, she was a fearsome foe to those who wished harm to the forest or her crew. Though she held her image highly as her crew fired her up from behind, she was humble as could be, and was perceived as a warm soul with a heart of gold amongst the rowdier crowd she called a family. And though her see-through glass form was fragile, her piercing, never blinking blue eyes contrasted from her red garbs and expressed ferocity in the form of a blank-looking stare, truly filled with strong, fiery emotion she could not physically show, and a burning desire to protect and serve. Despite such intensity she relinquished in, most would still describe her as quite the beauty. Many would even swoon, but this captain knew where her heart was, if not inside her.
Of course, nowadays Cinderella’s a former captain, residing alone in a shack she found in the quagmires that was unoccupied, making it her own. As expected based on her complexion, she was always a glass canon. Whatever happened between her and her crew to have found separation is preferred not to be spoken about. Perhaps tension was high, or grudges are being held against certain individuals. But what remains true is that she seeks some form of internal closure, but cannot kindle enough motivation to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But whatever happened, it’s clearly taken an arm and a leg to get to this position… well, maybe just a leg. She wasn’t always with one hook leg substituting her foot, you know. She’s spent much time mastering the art of using such leg offensively however it may be useful, and it’s proven a good enough distraction. Even if that means popping the makeshift peg off the joint and throwing it at someone. Hey, she’s not opposed to it if it’ll do the job! Cinder was always known to be resilient, but perhaps now, with her self imposed isolation and retirement of her occupation, she may be secretly yearning for some guidance or reasoning to venture again.
Einin’s arrival might just be the ember she’s been looking for to set her desire aflame once again.
——
Girl you lived dangerously like you weren’t made of glass and now question when your dumbassary get’s you fucked— okay in all seriousness this is actually one of my favorite DDG characters. Her story is insane and she’s gonna have a lot more relevance/lore than just being a help to Einin. Her importance is so incredibly deep but I’ve barely even gone into any of that yet oopsies—
I originally wanted to update her reference first but ehhhh. Not right now. Can’t be bothered at the moment. Frankly this one still needs a lot of cleanup and fixes but I’ll do it later (and then 2 months pass and I still haven’t done it)

← ONCE UPON A TIME WAS A LONG TIME AGO →
Bitter are the wars between brothers — even when the brothers are not biological. Brotherhood has both the potential to be affirming and detrimental, and Jasper Hook has experienced both. In the beginning of his life, Jasper was on his own. Left at the Darling Home for Wayward Children, the poor orphan grew up parentless. It was there that he met fellow abandoned child Peter Banning, and the two soon became the closest of friends. Peter and Jasper got into a fair amount of trouble over the summers they spent together as they grew; Peter was the type to always scheme and want more, but Jasper was content to live in the moment. The older they got, the more reckless Peter got. Jasper was concerned but went along with it until they reached a breaking point.
Peter wanted to turn into a vampire. He thought it was a great idea even though they were both under eighteen and it would break the rules. It was at this time that a fisherman and his wife took an interest in adopting Jasper. He had to choose between eternal undead life with his friend or the family he had always wanted. Promising Peter they’d always be friends, Jasper was officially adopted and moved into a tiny house by the sea. Peter was enraged at what he believed to be a betrayal by his friend, and a bitter feud began. While Peter seethed, Jasper settled nicely into his new life. He took an instant liking to being on the sea and his adopted father joked that salt water ran through his veins. While the three of them didn’t have much based on his fathers fisherman income, the new family was happy. Jasper didn’t care much for the school they enrolled him in and would instead spend his days fishing at his fathers side or playing piano with his mother. He was, by all means, a lover rather than a fighter. Jasper believed things in his life were better than before and would continue to be. He was, unfortunately, wrong.
Although he moved out of the Darling Home, Jasper still stopped by to check in with Minerva Mouser. He was young still when he first met a new resident by the name of Taylor Bell. Enthralled by young affection, Jasper thought himself to be in love with her. Jasper drank her presence like air, never able to get enough of Taylor. He imagined himself with her forever until Peter reared his head once more. At this point, he had begun to amass a group of underaged vampires he called the Lost Boys. Peter set his sights on Taylor and Jasper had no idea. Peter whispered in Taylor’s ear, seducing her while spreading lies about Jasper. Jasper wanted to stay far away from Peter, but Taylor fell under his thrall. He was devastated the day she approached him and revealed that she had allowed Peter to turn her. Heartbroken, Jasper rejected Taylor and made it clear she never wanted to see her again. A strong dislike of the supernatural subsequently began to grow in his heart.
Heartbreak aside, Jasper continued to grow. He was sleeping one night when the sound of singing awoke him. A haunting melody floated along with the roar of the waves, and when the young man stumbled outside he saw a beautiful woman laying on the rocks. The woman wasn’t alone, however, and laying beside her was Jasper’s father. At first, he couldn’t believe it. His father loved his mother. What was he doing with this strange songstress? The longer he watched the two of them, however, the more Jasper realized that his father was unfaithful. In the morning he was greeted as if nothing had occurred, and his father smiled and kissed his wife as if he hadn’t been with another woman only hours before.
For weeks, Jasper wrestled with what he wanted to do. Did he tell his mother and break her heart? Or did he let his father get away with the wrong he had done to their family? Jasper stopped accompanying his father out on fishing trips as he mused over what was the right action. Finally, Jasper decided that he would tell his mother what he had witnessed. It turned out that he was too late, however, as Jasper’s father beat him to it. The woman that Jasper’s father had been with was a siren, a beautiful and alluring creature of the sea who were fabled to have lived around Walt’s Landing although no one ever saw them. She was one of the last of her kind, and she was with child. Specifically, she was with the child of Jasper’s father.
Everything changed in the Hook household. Jasper was at the age where he’d move out and live on his own, but he didn’t want to leave his mother as she dealt with heartbreak. It was because of this that he and his mother moved to a small apartment away from the water while the siren moved in with Jasper’s father for the duration of her pregnancy. Jasper did his best to stay away from the house as he wanted nothing to do with his father nor the siren, and a deep hatred for the supernatural continued to grow. He was forced to watch his mother all but shut down as depression ate away at her, and soon he had to take a job as a dock boy to try and pay for their expenses as she had stopped going to work. Despite his reluctance to step foot near his father, Jasper was awakened one night by a terrible storm and felt himself drawn to the water. There was a horrible but beautiful sound filling the air, and as he approached the shore he realized it was coming from his fathers home.
Inside, the siren was finally giving birth. Jasper found himself unable to leave as a small baby girl was born, a girl who was his adopted sister. Jasper assisted his father in wrapping the newborn up, and no sooner than they had done so they realized something. The siren was gone. True to her siren nature, she had turned and slipped back into the sea as sirens rarely ever raised their own children. Jasper’s father was horrified and panic filled. He was unable to accept the fact that he’d have to raise a supernatural baby on his own after already going through the shame of having an affair with a siren. Seeing no other choice, Jasper’s father waded into the surf and left the baby to die.
Jasper wanted the baby gone. He really did. It was his sister, yes, but her mother had ruined his life. Hearing it’s pealing cries, however, Jasper found he was unable to let her drown and rescued the child from the waves. Knowing that he couldn’t bring it home and break his mothers heart further, Jasper made a rash choice. He had heard rumors of a caster coven who had retreated below the waves. Summoning their leader, Jasper begged him to take the infant as she belonged in the water anyway. The caster, Neil Triton, and his wife already had six adopted daughters. At the urging of his wife, Neil agreed and took the baby under the waves. With her out of sight, Jasper hoped she would forever be gone from his life.
As the years went on, Jasper continued working by the water and made his way up the ranks until he was given his own ship to captain. He cut off all ties with his father, and when the man died a few years later Jasper didn’t even go to his funeral. He did, however, attend the funeral of his mother. She was never able to move past what Jasper’s father had done, and a few years after the affair was revealed washed up on the beach with stones in her pockets. After her passing, Jasper moved to small houseboat and spent nearly all his time on the water. Taylor and Peter stayed young while Jasper grew up into a strong man with strong opinions. He developed a reputation for having a strong hatred of the supernatural, stemming from both his fathers affair with the siren and Taylor’s betrayal. Soon he became known around town as a bit of a pirate, and his crew seemed to share his hatred of the supernatural. If you weren’t human, it was best to stay away from Hook and his crew. If your name was Peter, it was best for you to run.
Relations with Peter became infamously bad. The Lost Boys and Hook’s crew, the Jolly Roger, continued to meet and clash in violent encounters. One particularly bad instance was when Peter was trying to recruit a boy named Markus Smee. Peter had befriended Markus when he moved to town and had murdered his parents and sister so that he no reason to not join the Lost Boys. Jasper arrived on the scene and fought Peter, but Peter cut off Jasper’s left hand in the scuffle. Peter was eventually fended off and Smee became Jasper’s right hand man. Fastening a hook over his stump, a war was officially declared with Hook and his crew against all supernaturals. Things were dark for a while, and Jasper wouldn’t hesitate to attack and call out supernaturals he saw. There was only one who was safe from his rage, and that was Ariel Triton.
Jasper wanted to hate Ariel, almost as much as he had wanted to leave her to die as an infant. He couldn’t though, and Jasper kept an eye on Ariel as she grew up. It appeared that she was going to be human, but when her siren powers manifested Jasper was disappointed. He didn’t make himself known to her until Ariel realized what she was, and even then it was strange for the two to admit that they were siblings. No one knew that Ariel was his sister, however, so Jasper was able to hide the fact that he was connected to a supernatural.
And so, Jasper Hook was turned from a lover to fighter. If you see him or his band of ragtag sailors coming, it’s best to move out of the way. With his one hand and his boat he reminds most of an old time pirate, and his suave attitude doesn’t clash with that image. It’s only a matter of time before things grow ugly between him and Peter though, and once they reach a certain point there’s no going back.
←  & THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY NEVER AFTER →
✴ PETER BANNING went from the best of friends to the bitterest of enemies; Peter is now the bane of Jasper’s existence. Jasper knows Peter will stop at nothing to get what he wants, and what he wants is nothing good. Does Jasper miss his old friend? At this point, there’s too much blood between them to say. Peter and Jasper are now as diametrically opposed as could be. Peter took Jasper’s hand and Jasper is prepared to take much more from Peter if given the chance.
✴ TAYLOR ‘TINK’ BELL was the love of Jaspers life but she betrayed him when she let Peter turn her. He’s never forgiven her for what she does. It would be too far to say he harbors any affection towards her, but he’s never raised his sword against her. Taylor was one of the few people who loved Jasper when he wasn’t sure if love was real. Between her and his father, he lost his faith in it altogether.
✴ ARIEL TRITON and Jasper are adopted siblings due to the fact that Jasper’s adopted father is Ariel’s biological one. Even though Jasper has a strong hatred of the supernatural, he does have a soft spot for his sister. This may be in part because she was as helpless as he was when they were younger. Ariel was innocent in a way Jasper never got to be. Even though Ariel never knew they were connected, Jasper kept an eye on her. It wasn’t until after she was married and returned to Walt’s Landing that he made their relation known. Sirens are detestable, but Ariel is the only family he has left since his father and mother have died. Everyone now knows that if you touch Ariel you’ll have Hook to answer to.
✴ MARKUS SMEE is Jasper’s right hand man, and he knows that he can always rely on Smee for whatever he needs. Smee may not be the brightest, the strongest or the most cunning of men, but he’s loyal and that’s what Jasper relies on. Saving Smee cost Jasper his hand, but he doesn’t blame him. Smee lost a lot that night as well. They both have reason to hate Peter.
← CASTERS & WEREWOLVES & VAMPS! OH MY!  →
✴ THE JOLLY ROGER GANG – Over the years, Jasper has found like minded people who hate supernaturals or have been wronged by them. They’re known for picking fights and making their voices known whenever they get a chance. With that being said, they know when to fall in line and don’t break the rules that Jasper sets. Some call them pirates, but they don’t care for labels. They just want to rid Walt’s Landing of supernaturals once and for all.

Happy Valentine’s Day! I re-drew *that scene* from How to Train Your Dragon 2 with Mossy and Joyce because, well... let’s just say it fits. Lore and process talk under the cut.
February 2023
I don’t know how much lore I’ve actually dropped on these two over here, so I’ll start from the beginning. Mossflower joined the Brightvale Guard to support her younger siblings back home on Mystery Island. Joyce came over from Meridell because she wanted to get out of her family’s over-crowded farm in a way that wasn’t “get married and move down the road”.
She thought it’d be better over in Brightvale, but without the extensive education that most of the kingdom’s populace had, her job prospects were limited. Fortunately, there was a wraith threat looming and the one thing she had a lot of experience with was fighting.
Joyce and Mossy were assigned to the same unit and quickly became Very Good Friends. They weren’t intending on becoming anything more... until they went dancing together and found themselves dancing together long after the circle dances were over.
They started making plans. After their service was over, they’d move back to Mystery Island with Mossy’s siblings and start a life together. Jobs were still hard to come by there, but with no more schooling to pay for they could live comfortably enough on fruit and whatever savings they left with.
And then the wraiths attacked.
Their unit splintered, and the two were separated. Joyce tried to fight her way back through and it didn’t end well. She had unfinished business, though, so she stuck around. It was several days until she could bring herself to talk to her girlfriend (”Oh Fyora, get a grip! It wasn’t your fault!”) and several more before Mossy could see her.
Except... she wasn’t really seeing her. Joyce was fully capable of making herself visible and tangible, but she didn’t want to. It was better for Mossy to think of her the way she’d been before her death. Sure, it resulted in a discharge for her because she’d started talking to her dead girlfriend that no one else could see or hear, but they both thought that was for the best.
When Mossy went back home, Joyce came with. Things were good for a while, but then Joyce caught Mossy crying because she wanted to be able to hold her, and introduce her to her family, and...
“Well... what if you could?”
Joyce had been fully expecting rejection, but that was not what she got. She was still afraid of officially meeting the rest of the family, but she and Mossy could work on that.
Together.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So it’s been a long time since my tablet was up and running, but it’s back now, which means I’m back to finishing sketches I’ve been sitting on for a while! Not too much has changed for my process, except for remembering to put different characters on their own layers when I want to do blur effects (which, there’s gotta be a better way to do those in Krita, I just used the first brush from the pack my sister downloaded that looked decent).
But yeah, I had fun drawing these guys again, and there’s more Neopets art coming. Because that’s what I do now I guess lol. It’s not even that I haven’t been drawing humans, it’s that my interests cycle uncontrollably and I only feel like writing/gaming/drawing/knitting/what have you so often. But I feel like there’s definitely gonna be more Fashion since markers are fun and I wanna draw with them.

✗ OTHER AFFILIATIONS– n/a
