I need to rewatch all of these still but I did like "The Show (and Tell) Must Go On" idk it was just very cute and the season 1 callback was nice. Also the B plot was really fun sfsvdg. Overall a really fun easy watch. It also inspired one of my first bobs burgers fics I've written (but haven't posted) it's not finished yet but I wanna finish it soon. It explores Tina and Louise's relationship and it's really important to me <3 one day I'll finish it

Honorary mention to Putts-giving for, while being a pretty weak thanksgiving episode (I often forget its about thanksgiving even though its in the title sgsgdg) it had a very chill plot with a good Tina and Louise plot (gravity falls might"ve made me develop a soft spot for mini golf episodes...)

1. a book that is close to your heart

there are a few books i could name, but i'm going to do the one i thought of first.

a girl of the limberlost. i only remember reading it once, but my mother is the one who gave it to me, and told me that it was a book she loved at my age at the time. (same with the secret garden.) so i can't think of that book without thinking of her, which makes it a little bit more special to me <3

13. your favorite romance novel

immediate impulse is to say legends and lattes by travis baldree bc. it's so good. however, while there is a romance i don't know if i would count it as a romance novel.

so.

the lady's guide to celestial mechanics. historical, sapphic, featuring both women in STEM (or, yknow, historical equiv) but also an appreciation for domestic arts / crafts normally looked down on. also there's an acknowledgement that homophobia existed, but there's none on page.

the prose is also gorgeous.

i don't actually read a ton of romance novels, but i've been trying to pick up more!

okay, so. if you are. remotely squeamish, like. at all? you might wanna give this one a pass. (def check storygraph / other places for trigger warnings. im also happy to elaborate myself, lol.) i am. very squeamish, and made it through only because the story grabbed me tight and wouldn't let go. the worldbuilding is extremely interesting. the characters are all very different and both likeable and unlikeable in a million different ways. but.

oh boy, it was a tough one.

if you're NOT squeamish, though--

it was a 4 or 5 star read for me, iirc, so, y'know. recommended. not sure i'll ever pick it up again, but like. do not regret reading.

130. a book featuring flashbacks and/or intersecting storylines

i know i've read others like this, but the book that comes to mind is--and i had to google this bc it's been so long since i read it---Thirst by Christopher Pike. It was also published under "The Last Vampire." i don't actually recommend them; i read them during my middle school vampire phase and even i remembered being a little mindboggled. mainly bc i think there was an alien abduction in... the second or third book? idk, i had an omnibus.

there's only one answer i can give to this, tbh. the locked tomb series brainrot is real and deep and i am. both highly anticipating and dreading the release of alecto so.

i gotta recommend Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir.

that SAID, i am well aware that this book has a reputation on tumblr esp for being poorly summarized, as the most oft-used pitch is "lesbian necromancers in space."

this is not an inaccurate summary.

BUT.

it is also not complete.

so first, some expectations: it's sci-fi, definitely, but also there are a lot of fantasy vibes? probably because of the swords and the necromancy and the sworn knights-esque plot. uh. basically, it's sci-fi like star wars is sci-fi, but also it's. it's not star wars.

second thing: this series is unreliable narrator central. tamsyn picks the least qualified person in the group for you to follow the story with, and it works. so well. like, firstly bc ofc things get explained (some; it does drop you in and expect you to pick up a lot through context clues) but ALSO because you WILL pick up things you didn't on re-reads. i did a reread before Nona and spent half of it screaming. i'm not much of an annotator beyond highlighting some lines on kindle but i was commenting all over the place.

uh.

i still haven't talked about the plot, my bad.

Gideon the Ninth follows the titular Gideon, after her childhood nemesis and heir to the Ninth House, is invited to the First House by the God Emperor of the Nine Houses to seek quasi-immortality and join him in fighting a war as old as the Houses themselves. When they get there, though, they soon find their fellow heir-and-cavalier pairs being picked off one by one.

this book also features a lot of gay... not pining, not really, but like. Gideon likes women and her pov spends a lot of time appreciating the other women with them xD (this is also part of what makes her unreliable as a narrator. plot? what plot? gideon is here for thirsting, and a little bit of pining.)

also mild enemies to lovers vibes.

ALSO there are memes. there's a none pizza left beef joke in book 2, i'm still not over it.

does get a little squicky at times with loving descriptions of bones and viscera, though.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

i pretty much write things in one sitting or not at all lmao. i dont tend to take on a lot of series and stick to one shots as well. unless its over 8k i probably wrote it in one day. even the ones longer than that usually took less than a week from start to publication (for example, paladin!aelwyn fic is 15k and took 4 days of actual writing over less than a week to write, edit, and publish)

What are your writing strengths?

i feel like im best at dialogue and tend to get a lot of compliments on in-character voices. dialogue is my favorite to write lmao. i also think im good at describing spacing and movements, because i tend to think like. almost exclusively verbally and like?? physically?? if that makes sense?? when i write i picture almost nothing but i can "feel" what the character is doing. like i imagine making the gestures and everything but dont necessarily see anything as a picture in my head

(fun fact: for actual play fic i actually uh. picture the players acting it out, not the characters in the world. lmao whoops. like the first draft of it at least is 'what does this look/sound like at the table' and then i make it into a fic)

What are your writing weaknesses?

coming from the last question, definitely description, again because i picture almost nothing when i write. i have a VERY VERY hard time thinking with visuals. even when im coming up with description, i just THINK WORDS that would describe something, not picture it. so a lot of time i have to base my description on something or im just like. pulling descriptive words out of my ass with no basis. and the visual of it doesnt always make sense to other people. the other thing i struggle a lot with is action scenes, rip

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i think there's a time and a place and a right way to do it. i think with anything, it's not a "write what you know" but "know what you write". if youre writing someone multilingual, understand how multilingual people actually talk and use those languages. i think the closest i've gotten is "writing signs" for amaya from dragon prince. obviously thats not exactly the same, but for those fics i went back and forth between translating what she was saying, giving the exact signs without grammar, or just describing the movement of the signs. i dont know that i did it perfectly, but i did my best and learned from it. everything in those fics was knowledge i gained from my ASL classes in college (mostly taught by Deaf teachers)

i feel like you would be that girl that john b always knew. like, even before jj, there was you. maybe your dads were friends, or your mom helped big john out right after jb’s mom left or something like that, but you probably wouldn’t remember the first time you really ever met him-- you just always knew each other. it wasn’t until his dad went missing, though, that you two would get really close. before, you’d smile at each other from across the hall at school, and if you were in the same science class he would ask you to be lab partners. but most of the time, your interactions were limited, and your relationship was simply acquaintances. once you heard about his dad, though, it would be your natural response to have to check in on him. you’d drop down next to him in class the first day he showed up after the news broke, and the look in his eye would absolutely break your heart. he was smiling, but it didn’t reach his eyes, and even though he put up that facade for 9 months, you knew that he knew. big john was gone, and he might never come back. maybe he wasn’t necessarily dead, but he wasn’t with john b, and that was enough to cause an inexplicable pain.

so you’d start going over to his house after school to drop off his assignments, because you knew sometimes he couldn’t ignore the really big swells that happened after lunch and wound up missing history and maybe a few math classes. you brought him homework a couple of times, and then one day he asked you to stay a bit longer to help him out with the history paper you both had due the next day. while you were sitting on the couch reading the essay, jj barged in without warning, eyes widening when he spotted you in his spot. “jb... did you know there’s a girl on your couch?” you would immediately jab back, barely making eye contact with him before going back to editing. “nice to see you, too, jj. maybe i should read your paper next-- that is, if you even have it written yet.” john b chuckled at the interaction, strolling back over to you and dropping down on the cushion next to you. when he picked up another notebook, jj squinted at the two of you in disbelief and slight confusion. “are you guys... are you doing homework?”

“yes, j,” john b would sigh, half of him wishing his friend would shut up, and the other half wishing he would leave altogether. “we are doing homework.” when john b went back to what jj [barely] recognized as pre-calc, jj stood there for a few more seconds, dumbfounded, before spinning on his heel and going into the guest room. hearing some rustling from the room, you looked up to find john b already glancing at you. “whatever he’s about to do... i apologize in advance.” you smiled, shaking your head and going back to his paper once again. a few moments later, jj walked back into the room, arms full of notebooks, papers, and books, while his mouth held two highlighters, a mechanical pencil, and a blue pen. he would plop down in front of you, spitting out his writing utensils and dropping his books before looking hopefully at you. “i got some homework to do, too. i fucking hate this shit. but i would also like to graduate some day. help?”

after another look was exchanged between you and john b, you smiled at jj and leaned forward to ruffle up his hair. “sure, buddy. i’ll help ya out.” he groaned at the affection, but started flipping through worksheets anyway. john b finally choked out a surprised sound, knowing it usually took much more to get jj engaged in anything educational. “you’re gonna be a real good thing for us, aren’t you?” with one last smile, you nodded and returned to his paper. it wouldn’t be the last thing you did with the pogues, or the last thing you did for john b.

Your match is Saeyoung! I chose Saeyoung because I just feel like he’d be so fascinated with the fact that you love art. He’d love watching you and finds it calming. You both also have some of the same sort of feelings. Saeyoung has very high expectations of himself and is very aware of the people around him. “Can we have a kid?” You were sitting on Saeyoung’s lap as he played with your hair when he asked that question.

“We don’t need one,” you laughed. “We have Saeran.”

“You know what I mean,” he mumbled pressing a kiss to your neck. “I want to start a family.”

You hummed as you pulled his head back up so his eyes met yours. “I’m not sure about a kid yet, but what about an animal?”

You watched as Saeyoung’s eye widened and his jaw dropped slightly. “MC. Can. We. Get. A. Cat??”

“Well, we’re not dog people, are we?!” You asked, laughing loudly as Saeyoung squeezed you tightly. “We can go looking this weekend!”

“This weekend?” Saeyoung pulled you off the couch and tugged your hand excitedly. “We have to go. Right now!”  You giggled as he ran around grabbing a light jacket for you to wear and practically helped shove your feet into some slip on shoes. “Get a move on, darling!”

You quickly followed after him as he grabbed his car keys to his current favorite baby, soon to be replaced by a cat. “Saeyoung, calm down! There will still be cats there if we go tonight or days later.”

“Buuuuuut MC,” Saeyoung pouted and you pressed a kiss to his jutted out lip. “I just want a cat to give all my love to. Please?”

With those words, you felt the last of your resolve fall. “Well what are you waiting for? We’re in the car, aren’t we?” At your words, Saeyoung quickly put the car in drive and all but speed his way over to the nearest animal adoption center. “You seem well prepared,” you remarked and he beamed at you.

“I’ve been waiting for you to offer to get a cat with me I’ve been very excited.” He grabbed your hand and quietly led you inside and you could almost feel his body vibrating with excitement.

“Good afternoon guys,” a kind worker with navy blue hair greeted you. “Are you here to adopt today?”

“Yes, we were looking to adopt a cat.” You explained to her as Saeyoung dropped your hand and walked over to a few cats who were playing in a playpen. “We’re not really picky though, we just want to be able to help a cat find a forever home.”

“Okay, well you’re welcome to take a look around. There’s a few over there in that playpen but there’s also some more in the back.” You nodded and started to make your way over to Saeyoung. As he heard your footsteps, he turned around with a grin on his face. He was holding a small orange tabby cat with yellow/gold eyes and purring obnoxiously loud as your boyfriend scratched at the cat’s chin.

“Babe! Look I think he likes me!” Saeyoung exclaimed and you put your hand out to the cat, letting it sniff you before patting it’s head softly. When you stopped, it licked your hand until you started again, making Saeyoung laugh. “And I think he likes you too!”

“Well, it’s seems you’re already very smitten.” You laughed as Saeyoung gently put the cat in your arms. “Oh my gosh this is the cutest thing ever I have to take a picture this is going to be my phone background forever.” Despite your protests, Saeyoung managed to take about 15 pictures with the cat who was currently very happy sitting in your arms. “I think we found our cat?” Saeyoung questioned hopefully, leaning down to brush his nose against the tabby’s pink one.

“Seems so,” you agreed, looking down at the both of them fondly.

As you continued to hold the cat, Saeyoung went to go fill out the adoption paperwork and purchase things you would need to become the best cat parents possible. “What should we name this little fella?” Saeyoung asked as you buckled into the car, the baby crawling over the consul to crawl into his lap.

You thought for a moment. “Pepper.”

Saeyoung giggled. “Really?”

“Yeah, why not? Pepper’s can be orange and you love PhD. Pepper.” You explained as you grabbed onto the kitten, struggling to keep the wiggle worm in your arms as Saeyoung drove home.

When you two settled onto the couch with Pepper, Saeran came out of his room and smiled as he spot the cat. “We got an animal?”

As soon as he sat down next to Saeyoung, Pepper jumped into his lap and curled up, purring loudly again. You giggled as you watched the two twins and cat snuggle close together. “You know, Pepper kinda looks like you guys.”

“He can be the honorary Choi triplet.” Saeyoung laughed and leaned over to get in his face. “You want to be the triplet, huh buddy?”

“SAEYOUNG CHOI YOU BETTER NOT SQUEEZE PEPPER TOO HARD!” You screamed as your boyfriend took the cat from his brothers lap and held him to his chest tightly.

“You guys are going to be horrible parents.” Saeran laughed as he got up and returned to his room.

“Someday we’ll be amazing parents.” Saeyoung told you. “But not today.”
