You know, I often lament the fact that Katara lost out on a supportive partner who respected and trusted her when Zutara didn't happen, but Zuko lost out, too. He lost out on marrying into a family that would have given him the love, encouragement and support that they gave each other. Hakoda, Sokka and Bato would have taken such joy in introducing Zuko to the SWT customs that were handed down from father to son for generations. Hakoda would have absolutely given him as much advice as he could as a leader in his own right balancing the duties of chiefdom and family. Kanna would have grown to love this uncertain boy king who didn't think it was a humiliation to help her around the home. He missed out on having a wife who would back him up and advise him as he figured out how to be the leader his country needed. No matter how bad things got in the Fire Nation, he would have had a tight-knit family support group to make sure he got through it.
When you take a step back and look at all the ways Katara and Zuko would have filled in for what the other was missing, I get annoyed all over again that all that parallel and convergent development was set aside for pairings that were somehow the blandest and most toxic that anyone on that writing team could have come up with. It is so clear that Zutara was supposed to be endgame and they got robbed for Bryke's pet ship.

In spite of the title, I make no promises on how consistently I'll update this, but I love sharing music with people. These are some songs that have been inspiring me lately.
I'd love for this to be interactive! Listen to the songs and tell me what you think. Or recommend songs that have been inspiring you.

zuko starting with "well aren't you a big girl now" to katara at the north pole and then their dynamic there was such an important part of their relationship, like despite the fact they were clearly enemies he saw that she'd improved and then they fought there as enemies but matched equally and with an equal power dynamic. "you little peasant, you found a master", "you rise with the moon, i rise with the sun"... what an underrated zutara scene. such a defining moment of who they were before ba sing se and before zuko betrayed katara. zuko is acknowledging how katara grew through the first book of atla and exactly a season later they end up facing off as equals again i am so...i am rambling but like zuko and katara are the ultimate equals in every way lol that's why they fight each other or fight together in every single book finale, how could there ever be an unhealthy power dynamic there when the script makes such a big deal out of them both being matched and working so hard for their bending ability, two kids who were not inherently talented like aang or toph but who had to work for what they were and they can see that and respect that in each other, the fact that it didn't come easy but they fought to be great benders anyway, they both never give up, they're both stubborn as hell, and they belong together because they truly understood each other, even when they were fighting at the north pole

Okay but like “living my most authentic life” is literally just me being pissed off every single day that two cartoon characters didn’t kiss in a show that ended almost 15 years ago.

Give it to your sister, it doesn’t hurt And see if she can handle every family burden Watch as she buckles and bends but never breaks No mistakes just
Pressure like a drip, drip, drip that’ll never stop
-“Surface Pressure”, Encanto
As soon as I heard this song for the first time in Encanto, my brain immediately connected it to Katara (“Give it to your sister, it doesn’t hurt and see if she can handle every family burden”? And then the “drip, drip, drip” water connection? KATARA). Really this would work better as an AMV with voiceovers of quotes mixed in such as Sokka talking to Toph about Katara took care of the family after their mom died, Katara yelling at Sokka that since their mom died she’s had to do all the work, etc. But that would take significantly more work so here’s a gifset instead.

spiralling thinking about how the idea that mulder is the believer and scully is the sceptic is literally what they want you to think of themselves. like there’s a reason his whole thing is “i want to believe” and it’s because it doesn’t naturally come to him. he is actually filled with doubt but he desperately clings to these ideas of the unexplained and the paranormal in hope that it’ll end up being real. and belief does come naturally to scully but it terrifies her so she puts up this guard, she only allows herself to believe in what she can prove and explain and she’s willing to believe in the extraordinary so long as she can scientifically rule out the ordinary and. and hguhhhgg.
