WIP Wednesday

Sharing a snippet from Chapter 7 of Dividing Lines, co-authored by the wonderful @lgwilt. It only took us 30K words but Loki & Don (and Loki & Mobius) are finally going on a date.

Loki’s expression softened. “You said you live alone? I hope you don’t mind my asking.”

“No, no, it’s fine,” Don reassured him. “Yeah, it’s just me rattling around inside that gigantic TVA-subsidised house. Well, unless the boys are staying for the holidays. The place seems a whole lot smaller when they’re around.”

“You have two boys, is that right?”

“Kevin and Sean,” said Don proudly, taking out his phone to show Loki a recent photo. It was one of his favourites from their fishing trip last summer, all three of them covered in mud after Kevin had jumped fully clothed into the pond to grab a massive turtle he’d decided to bring home as a pet. He hadn’t succeeded, but he’d accidentally dragged the fishing tackle into the pond in the attempt, prompting Don to go in after him. It wasn’t long before all three of them were covered nearly head to toe in mud, reeds and stagnant pondwater.

“They look… lively,” Loki commented dryly.
