oh i like these posts. hahahahahaha! politics aside, oh well, no actually— i don’t think we can ever put aside politics when it comes to the boys ; I see cpfs sharing posts and commenting on this person’s “greeting” for wyb. and well, you will see why. she is a politician in hongkong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Patriotic top star Wang Yibo]
What big day is August 5? Last year, this day was the 12th anniversary of the New People's Party; it was also the birthday of Wang Yibo, a top star in the mainland.
Wang Yibo has a deep connection with Hong Kong. He was born in 1997, when Hong Kong returned to the motherland. I still remember that he sang a song "Stand Up" for Hong Kong on the 25th anniversary of the return; on July 1, 2023, he personally came to Hong Kong to attend the "Greater Bay Area Film and Music Gala" "The Moon Rises in the Bay Area", but unfortunately it did not cause much response at the time.
Although he is not a popular idol of Hong Kong people, friends who pay attention to the mainland entertainment industry know that Wang Yibo is a top star in the mainland entertainment industry; he has extraordinary dancing skills, and his status as the "King of Dance" in the mainland is unquestionable. In addition, he is also engaged in many public welfare undertakings; he recently filmed a documentary series on protecting pangolins as a public welfare ambassador of WildAid. He is an artist with both talent and virtue.
I once asked a public question in the Legislative Council: Since Hong Kong is hosting many events and concerts, the SAR government should actively consider inviting mainland top stars Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo to perform in Hong Kong. I believe that this will attract a large number of fans from the mainland and around the world to support Hong Kong and truly promote Hong Kong's concert economy.
Recently, there are two things about him that impressed me the most. First, his performance in the mainland hit drama "War of Faith" was amazing, and his acting skills have made a great leap forward. I, like many mainland audiences, think that he deserves the "Best Actor". Unfortunately, he was not nominated for the Best Actor in the list of nominees for the Shanghai TV Magnolia Awards earlier. This incident triggered a series of controversies in the mainland entertainment industry. Many people feel sorry for him.
In addition, when he was serving as a torchbearer for this year's Olympics in Paris, he saw a fan holding a mini national flag accidentally dropped it on the ground, and he picked it up spontaneously, showing his sincere respect and love for the national flag. If every young person in Hong Kong can spontaneously love the national flag and national emblem, and understand that it represents the dignity of the country, then it means that Hong Kong's patriotic education has truly succeeded.
In summary, Wang Yibo is an outstanding young man. He went to Korea for training when he was young. After years of hard work, he has mastered first-class dancing skills. His acting skills have also been recognized in recent years. Even though he is a top star with huge commercial value, he is also enthusiastic about public welfare. He is really a role model for artists. I hope that young people in Hong Kong will take him as an example and learn how to be a good young man with both talent and virtue, who loves the national flag and spontaneously safeguards the dignity of the country.
* So i guess it’s now obvious why cpfs like this post so much. it’s because both of them were mentioned. and is is what we’ve been hoping for, that they will be invited to events and probably even work on a project together because they are “positive” artists. and how important it is for them to maintain that image to stay safe in the industry. tho i have to say that it’s not hard for them cause they are good natured people. It’s not an “act”, that is just how they are.
and it’s what we’ve been saying, that these two are one of the best ways for CHN to have some soft power in the international stage. tho i’m sure they will have detractors who will be quick to pull out “evidence” of their government support and use it against them.
also months back, she also posted something about CQL. so yeah, no wonder she got popular with cpfs ⬇️⬇️
China’s “danmei” genre is booming in the West
The article “How to Tell Chinese Stories Well” (July 14) overlooks an important genre that is growing in popularity in the West and is more reflective of contemporary Chinese life than works from decades ago such as Shanghai Life and Death or The Wild Swans.
I am referring to the danmei genre of online novels. Danmei is a term that originated in Japan. This new genre has spawned a number of very successful online novels that have been adapted into extremely popular Chinese TV series and translated into English. A prominent example is The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, which was adapted into the Chinese TV series The Untamed in 2019 and translated into English and is available on Amazon.
Untamed made two young actors, Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, famous in China. Another very successful work is Erha and His White Cat Shizun, which made the New York Times bestseller list in English. The English version has a wide readership in the West and is available in paperback.
Danmei novels celebrate “boys’ love”, which is officially frowned upon. A major production based on Erha, produced by Tencent, has been shelved. But the genre has a large following in China and abroad, inspiring fan art, fan works and merchandise.
Many danmei online novels are written by women for women. Why are they so popular among Chinese women? Their popularity reflects the frustrations of contemporary Chinese women: they are trapped between traditional, realistic, family-oriented marriage concepts and a desire for romance and true love, as celebrated in danmei novels. Such novels have become a channel for their fantasy and escapism. Surprisingly, these novels have also been loved by Western audiences.
While TV series based on such novels have been banned, animated versions of some popular works are still in production. The resilience of the genre, which is seen by the authorities as a departure from the official "main melody" works, reflects the delicate relationship between the authorities and the artists who create them. Most of the time, the authorities have the upper hand, but the ban has not stopped private enterprises and creative talents from finding space for the genre to thrive. Can we call it the authorities' "one eye open, one eye closed" attitude?
* this is a short but very interesting take on the whole thing. she is not even mentioning how TGCF is so popular in the mainland and continues to do so with it’s donghua and manhua. i guess it’s really one eye open and one eye closed and i hope it stays that way so that this genre will continue to thrive! i’m not holding that much expectation for the live action versions tho.

It's unfortunate, but it looks like I can't use YT at all if I want to save on i-net data. I've watched only 4-5 short videos, and 1/5 of my credit is gone in 1 day, heh. I will experience and enjoy the stages and concerts with a delay, in summer. There are always sacrifices in life...
With this NewJeans and Illit plagiarism scandal going on, it becomes clear how Big3 look not only for looks/talent, but personality, afterall. Whether I like BP or not, I have to admit that all the girls are very different and can stand on their own fan-attractor wise. Same with Babymonster, even with the same make up and beauty standart for every member, the girls are more memorable than most 4-5gen. NCT produced 4 soloists so far (I'm counting Lucas), and everyone's album is not like the other's. Riize also stands out among 5gen looks and concept wise.
Well, on the other hand, there is empty space to fill in left by Hybe, which young producers of small agencies try to occupy (StayC, Kiss of Life, Ive (maybe)).
Taeyong and Doyoung.
Doyoung's album feels more mature. Granted, Taeyong's 2 albums are more unique, individualistic, intimate in a way, debatebly there could be more artistic value to them, but it is still "Taeyong looks for TY" phase. There is hesitance. On the other hand, Doyoung knows who he is, I was wrong to doubt it. He might be afraid of whether fans can accept his non-idol self, the shift in the image, but he knows the road he wants to take. The album and the promotion feels like Doyoung sailing. It has that powerful element of the strong wind in the sails. The album already shows results close to IU and BTS guys in Korean charts. How happy Doyoung looks, how his true bold nature comes forward more and more in the performances. He is ready to take it, to enjoy everything. And yes, the timing is better for him than it was for Taeyong (both times). More room for concerts and festivals. However, the preparatory period was the same for both.
It is also about the voice. As I has been observing Do's progress since the time he made mistakes with pitch and was refusing to sing during interviews, I can feel the difference. He doesn't just sing well enough on the album, he shows different colours and techniques, uses his backvocals, in many places makes his work harder because he can (breathing, transitions, oberlayered singing with Taeyeon). During live performances he sounds weaker, so there is room to grow, but he will improve and catch up soon.
All in all, I'm personally glad SM doesn't allow the artists to go solo too early. Yes, maybe Doyoung could have released the album a year earlier. Maybe even two years earlier if covid didn't happen. The things happened how they happened though. Doyoung needed 127 to get Daesang and become a million seller, to perform at Tokyo dome and win over Korean fans, to get very close to Kenzie, to go through his burn out and overcome it, to invest some years into his love life with Jaehyun, to get the brand deal, the musical and tv-series first to be able to produce such an album, to approach renown song-writers and to ask for festivals and concerts in Japan and HongKong. The musical improved his vocals, the tv-series showed him he can succeed in a new area he is not comfortable in, DJJ let him get the experience of promoting outside of 127, gain support from fans with a new sound, the success of individual careers of the other members let him be "arrogant" and go for big things for himself. Mayhaps even the ousting of LSM was of help, who knows. LSM was known for being very involved in the work of his artists (to the degree of cutting off Seulgi's fringe for a better concept look right before the shooting of an RV's MV and changing aespa's "tsu-tsu-tsu" in the lyrics (which was genius on his part, but you know... his vision)).
Doyoung said people mostly remember Taeyong and Mark in 127, that he is not as memorable or standing out in the group in comparison. And it is true. It because he mimics an idol, plays a role for the group, (and loses points in dancing), he is confined in an image that is not him (Tae and Mark are themselves, Taeyong the soloist is a natural continuation of Taeyong the leader of NCT). Doyoung did it to himself, by the way, so the group is not to blame. In the performance on Mnet of "Little light" Dongyoung came out, and was as attention grabbing. He is not shakled by the level of success of the group (i.e. if he fails it won't affect negatively the unit), only the eyes of his own fans will be on him, the risk and reward are all his, so he is free to be more bold and greedy.

Sooyoung’s Interview with Elle Hongkong, August 2022 Issue:
💗THE HOT 15TH ANNIVERSARY OF GIRLS’ GENERATION💗
The COVID outbreak, which lasted for more than two years, has had a tremendous impact on the Korean showbiz.
Despite the obstacles, Korean celebrities have been adapting themselves to the new situation and bringing joy to the public.
Last August, Girls' Generation, who is known as the "K-pop representative girl group" and "forever Girls' Generation", made an appearance in the popular tvN talk show "You Quiz on the Block".
It was all the rage among SONE.
It had been 4 years since they showed up as 8 in the public. They took their 14th anniversary as an opportunity to share their memories during their trainee days and after their debut with Girls' Generation. SONE were moved by their words and cheered up by their sense of humour.
💗SY: Thank you 'You Quiz on the Block', for capturing our beautiful and interesting moments. The program was great and I really enjoyed that.
Sooyoung remembered that the pandemic was still unstable around the time of filming.
💗SY: I was very careful and sensitive during that time. If someone had been tested positive, the filiming would have been cancelled. I am thankful that everything was alright.
More importantly, "You Quiz on the Block" is like a "trailor" of Girls’ Generation 15th anniversary. This year is the 15th anniversary of Girls’ Generation. The group will make a comeback as a whole and will take parts in different events, which Sooyoung is looking forward to.
💗SY: Despite our busy schedules, the passion for the 15th anniversary album is astonishing. Our chatroom is non-stop even during the midnight. Even though everyone is busy and the meetings are very short, all of us are so attentive. I can tell our problem-solving skills and experiences have been reinforced. I am so excited.
Sooyoung keeps us in suspense regarding the plans for 15th anniversary. However, Sooyoung understands SONE's curiousity so she briefly explained the concept of the recent variety show "Soshitamtam".
💗SY: When the production team asked me what I would like to do, I reckon variety show is a great platform for Girls’ Generation to show ourselves and share our thoughts. We can do anything to shape the content in a variety of ways, including reality show, games and documentary.
Apart from Korean SONE, Sooyoung left heart-warming words for Hong Kong SONE too.
💗SY: I can’t come to Hong Kong now but I am pleased to be featured in ELLE Hong Kong as the cover girl. August 2022 is sowing for a bountiful harvest. Other than the 15th anniversary album, 'If You Wish Upon Me' will be aired in August. I planned to leave some media content for memories and promotion, then I ended up getting an offer from ELLE Hong Kong. It's precious to "meet" Hong Kong SONE through ELLE. Back then, I have a lot of events and concerts so I can travel anytime. I can’t do this now so I am more eager to meet SONE in person. Although I have been to many countries, I can’t forget the enthusiasm of Hong Kong SONE. My members and I have lots of memories here. Hong Kong is a special and an unforgettable city to me. When the situation eases, we will come and meet you all. Please wait for us. Miss you!
💗 Girls’ Generation members - love like friends, love like family 💗
From Sooyoung's perceptual words, we can tell that she is a person who values relationships.
Girls’ Generation is well-known for their family-like friendship. Do they have any secrets of maintaining the friendship?
💗SY: We not only talk about work, but also daily lives. We are not always in tone. Come to think of it, we don't even know how time flies. We are too lucky. I always think about how to link 'friends' and 'colleagues'. When we were young, we were too close. We could not separate work and personal lives so conflicts arised. However, we have been more mature now. We have rules when discussing work. Even though we are like family, we need to be sincere and polite to deal with everything. For example, we follow the meeting rules set by Tiffany, like baby sparrows following their mom. This prompts us to discuss professionally and respectfully as an artist.
Sooyoung grows up with the members from a girl to a lady. Sooyoung has encountered various obstacles with her members before and after the debut as Girls’ Generation. What is her most unforgettable moment?
💗SY: the August 5 years ago, the time when we decided to part ways and take a rest, when we promised to gather again and when I left SM, was the most unforgettable. I was shaking like leaving a family which brought me up. I had to cope with lots of changes and challenges. From SONE's point of view, they must be even more anxious, even though they had expected beforehand. I could not say anything further on top of the official statement. I felt sorry that I could not reassure SONE. When I recall it now, the depression during that time was the most suffering and melancholy mentally.
Despite the stress, Sooyoung has some gains.
💗SY: I love something that can be proved by time, such as photography and poetry. They are works that come with time.
It takes time to prove her decisions along her journey as an individual artist.
💗SY: The distress at that time was solid. But I believe when the time comes, there will be a chance to show my heart. It will even become more beautiful which will heal all my wounds. I made a promise to myself - I will become a better person.
Sooyoung's career has been more fruitful with her determination and motivation.
💗SY: Every moment in the past has been the stepping stone to where I am now. I will become cooler and kinder.
Sooyoung never forgets the fact that SONE are the pillars of Girls’ Generation. She often opens Q&A and asks for SONE's wishes on SNS, which shows how she cherishes SONE.
💗SY: Many people mistake me as being 'not so friendly' when they meet me for the first time. To be honest, I did explain to my fans that 'I am not a friendly person'. I have been in the business for 15 years. SONE finally understands the 'real me'. They always look at me adorably. It makes me feel being loved and liberated. Occasionally SONE remind me, 'Sooyoung, don't be too over'. I happily accept that and learn a lesson. As they know me well, I feel comfortable. However, the more comfortable it is, the more careful I need to be. A deep affection needs greater respect and care.
Sooyoung also wants to create new memories with SONE on the 15th anniversary.
💗SY: I hope that SONE will enjoy our activities and programs, while getting rid of the longing and the blues in the past. Although our activities are limited, I will try my best to let everyone participate without regret.
💗 THE JOURNEY AS A SOLO ACTRESS 💗
In addition to being an idol singer, Sooyoung has been focusing on acting in recent years and has earned success. In 2021, she was chosen as one of the 200 actors representing the current and future Korean film industry in an international promotion project called "The Actor is Present - The Korean Actors 200" organised by Korean Film Council (KOFIC). This has been a huge encouragement for her career journey.
💗SY: It was an unexpected reward. I am very grateful but there's still a long way to go.
Sooyoung replied humbly.
💗SY: It's my pleasure and I’m thankful to gain the recognition. However, as an actress, my projects and proficiency are limited. I’m still at the beginning of the journey. Every time when I review my performance, I worry about what I lack. For example, I experienced the pain of regret, separation, learning and growth last year. Nevertheless, when I think of the growth after the mistake or regret, I would feel less unfortunate. Anyway, I won’t stop. I will observe the strengths of the others and learn humbly by being aware of my surroundings and being open to feedback.
Although acting could be difficult, it is fun.
💗SY: The most challenging part of acting is to 'convince' the others to trust me as an actress. Firstly, I have to convince the people who offer me the role so that they do not doubt my performance. At the filming site, I need to convince the other actors so they are not puzzled. Lastly, I must convince the audience. It sounds stressful but now I’ve been more relieved. I do not intend to convince anyone because it is kind of meaningless. If you live and breathe like the character, everything comes naturally. It may be difficult but I am still working hard on it.
Furthermore, she has found her vocation since she was recognised by the industry.
💗SY: The 200 actors nominated in the KOFIC "The Actors is Present" include the seniors who devote themselves to acting, as well as the peers who are charismatic and unique. It somehow encourages me to become a genuine actress. I’m committed to learning how to express myself better.
💗 GO FORWARD EARNESTLY BUT AT EASE 💗
Every project has given Sooyoung different feelings and unforgettable moments. "If You Wish Upon Me", which will be aired in August, has brought new inspirations to her.
💗SY: This story illustrates the special volunteer team in a hospice, who grants the last wishes of the patients with terminal cancer. My character Yeonjoo, is a nurse in the hospice. She is a bit different from a nurse in a typical hospital. Other than simply providing medical treatment, this role provides mental support, protection and accompaniment to the patients until their last minute of life. It is a very special job.
Because of this, she faced some challenges in terms of body shape and strength.
💗SY: As I am thin, I need to gain weight and undergo weight training to adapt to the character. Despite my intensive training, I could not reach my body and muscle goals. This drama was an opportunity for me to work out more. Although the filming was finished, I still have my abs and I feel healthier.
Sooyoung has also learnt a lot while working with other actors.
💗 SY: This drama talks about death but it is not heavy. I’m used to group life as I debuted with a girl group. I felt lonely for a while after I started my solo career. I worked with many great actors in this drama. The chemistry of the team and the atmosphere at the filming site were amazing. I received plenty of positive energy during the filming. I really enjoyed it and I didn't want it to finish.
She hoped that the audience would feel the chemistry as well.
💗SY: I hope that this drama can deliver a message - There are numerous projects that are relevant to death. But is death that terrifying? Is there only grief? The charm of this drama is letting you know, there will be someone giving you a helping hand regardless of how hopeless your life is.
Considering Sooyoung's passion for acting, is she ambitious for her future?
💗SY: I don't really have a plan. Is this my biggest weakness? I don't really have a dream all the time, unlike someone who runs towards his goal, or feels proud when a goal is accomplished. Sometimes I even find the current road difficult. But it doesn't matter, right? Going forward at ease and being moved by the little things suit me better.
She understood women in this generation not only pursue careers, but also work-life balance.
💗SY: i’m not really good at this but I am trying to. In recent years, I have realised the importance of "me time". If I didn't need to work, I travelled overseas or went somewhere people could not find me. However, I do understand that pusuring work-life balance may affect others or may become selfish. Completing everything well may turn out to be a burden, no matter if it is intentional or enforced. If I need to give up one of them (work or life), someone will be hurt. So before making a decision, I wish I could think it through 'Can I be responsible for everything? If I decide to do that, I will be perseverant.' This is my all-time promise and what I’m determined to achieve. Finding a balance in my bearable responsibility is a healthy balance to society and me.

##EARLY LIFE !!
she was born in Kowloon Tong, British Hong Kong as the youngest child of the family.
she has two older brothers; her oldest brother, Winston, born in 1988) and her second brother, Jackson, born in 1994.
though she was born in Kowloon Tong, British Hong Kong, she was raised in Sha Tin District, Hong Kong, China until the age of 12.
her father is a former member of China's national fencing team and an Asian Games gold medalist and her mother is a former acrobatics gymnast from Shanghai.
she used to do competitive artistic gymnastics and was a part of the representative team of hongkong, and was also a child model before moving to korea.
Tumblr media
##TRAINEE LIFE / PREDEBUT PERIOD !!
she is a former sm trainee; she was street casted by a casting director from SM in late 2014 when she and her parents went to visit jackson in korea; she auditioned with dance and was accepted.
she started training around mid february 2015 and was shortly added to smrookies in july the same year as she was starring on Disney Channel Korea show The Mickey Mouse Club as a Mouseketeer alongside other SM Rookies members.
she auditioned for mixnine as a sm trainee and passed, placing in the ‘a’ class in just dance showcase; she ended up ranking first place on the girls’ team in the final episode of mixnine, but did not get to debut because the girls’ team lost to the boys’; during the show, yang hyunsuk stated that if she wasn’t already under sm, he would’ve offered her a place in yg.
shortly after mixnine, there were rumours spreading around about that she might debut as a soloist or was confirmed in the lineup for sm’s new girl group (which would later be æspa), however, she chose not to renew her contract with the company for the sake of her mental health.
after her departure from the former company, she went back to hongkong to continue with her studies and reconnect with her parents; she was seen attending GOT7’s eyes on you concert in hongkong with her family in 2018.
fast forward to around late 2019, when she visited korea again and got casted by bighit’s casting team due to a friend of hers who was a trainee there; she was invited to make an audition which she went and got into bighit; she trained for a short while before joining a second survival show known as I-LAND.
since she wasn’t revealed along with the other 23 trainees and her photo only revealed after her appearance on the first episode, the public was surprised and mostly happy to see her appearance after lying on a low profile since the end of mixnine. she ended up receiving second place in the final episode of I-LAND, joining the final lineup of ENHYPEN.
Tumblr media
##DEBUT !!
she debuted on november 30, 2020, as the only female member of ENHYPEN.
her being the first female in a co-ed group of an unbalanced ratio between male and female members, definitely pressurise her since she had a lot of expectations to meet as well as a rather unknown and new situation to be in.
some of the public made a lot of harsh comments and targeted mainly at her, causing her to get more nervous and insecure of herself, and even more reserved than she already was; fortunately, as time passes, she received more love in comparison and pulled in lots of fangirls and fanboys into the fandom.
she is known for her stage presence, facial expressions, vocals, and being a musically talented and the 8th most versatile artist on stage. whereas she’s known for her gentle yet adorable 4D personality, soft-spoken nature, humour and being sassy towards others off stage.

wait Jackson wang is anti Hong king???
so, during the hongkong protests, a bunch of chinese kpop idols simultaneously made the same post that was anti hongkong. it was creepy as hell. but i don’t blame them, they were highly likely forced by their companies, who were pressured by the ccp. but jackson went further than that one post, he said it multiple times, and went out of his way to make unique, not mouthpiece, condemnations of his birth country, hong kong. he could have just kept it at the one forced post, like some of his other labelmates and other chinese (and even other hongkong) idols did, but he went above and beyond. he angered hongkongers so much that jyp had to cancel the hongkong concert that was going to happen during their tour, because got7 would have been in physical danger, there were threats against them due to jackson’s statements.
and now he has his company team wang, and strong business ties to the mainland, so there’s no doubt in my mind that he did it so as to be in the good graces of china so his brand and sales could flourish once he fully pushed into china, like he’s doing now post got7. betrayed his country for cash and fame.

These couples of days I have been thinking about Jimin and Jungkook and their relationship (assuming there is one of course). The beginning of the year there was many awkward (like tension, nothing major), then we had the concerts, where they went crazy and I mean shockingly crazy- body caressing, hair brushing, serenading, sitting on each other's laps. The release of Bon Voyage: talk about honeymoon phase. Then the unfortunate shirt issue, the injuries and that can cause some friction, people +
be happy twenty-four seven. Then we went to Japan (many of Jikook shippers were stating as a joke or real that Jikook was dead because their interaction was minimal); which to me, of course, was ridiculous. We got many Vmin moments from the concert which made think back to Bon Voyage: when V cried the staff told Jimin who comforted him so it's it safe to say that when Jimin was going through this horrible shirt issue that the comfort he seeks and wanted was from V; not everything revolves +our loved ones but it don't mean Jungkook didn't comfort him, it just means we didn't see it because who knows what goes on behind the cameras. then little by little, as things got better, we got to see them interact, we saw Jimin for the first time "jealous" I personally don't like exaggerated jealousy but when Jungkook back hugged Taehyung during apanaman, the stare, the headshake, he never smiled. At first, I didn't think much of it but the next day, the final concert, we had a bundle of +Jikook moment, that is what made me believe Jimin did maybe get a little jealous. Then the concerts were over, the boys left and when they landed in Korea, it was pretty late and it would think they would try but nope they went Ice skating and ate dinner. From there on they were inseparable, the honeymoon phase again- AAA, MMA (takes the cake), MAMA- Japan, MAMA- Hongkong (weird vibes but nothing to far fetch as them breaking up). I think they realized that they were bringing unwanted attention. for example, the ET magazine using a selca. At the end of the day, that article brought unwanted attention. So a little hey maybe we just it cools it down a little, was needed or they were just having an off day, it happens, they are humans after all. I wish someone would make a chronological compilation of all Jikook moments from this year- truly a story to observe. This should proof their closeness, that they value and need each other but at times we need a break from the people we love.
About moments because of jealous I’m not sure, but I love your words! Thank you for this quick review! And you mention moment with serenading: you meant moment where JK sang lines from Through the Night ? Ohhh one of my favorite momets for real😭
And it really would be good if someone made a chronological compilation with KM moments.. Maybe.. maybe I’ll try hahah

idk who to send this to bc i dont follow a lot of bts blogs but can we just take a moment to be in awe of all of jin's progress? like everyone in the group has commented on how much his singing has improved, jon said that his vocal trainer attended a concert and cried over how much hes improved and if you watch him dancing when bts first debuted compared to now, hes gotten SO much better like hes more confident in it all now and i LOVE THAT for him. im so proud of him. hes doing great.
holy shit, you just snatched my own words from my own mouth. you know, i`ve been telling this to people a lot, like a really really lot - that how much this man has improved and it`s not just his dance or vocal ranges but as a human too. he has made himself feel a little bit open to us. like listen, if he hadn`t said during MAMA HongKong this year that they were considering to disband because of the sheer pressure during the start of 2018, we would have never known what they were going through.
fuck, i want to hold them tight, hold him tight and yell at the top of my lungs to just fucking take a damn break. don`t give us content, we who truly loves them will stay with him even after a year break. bUT no, they`re always spoiling us. (yes, like the fluffiest human being on earth, park jimin didn`t drop a whole ‘Promise’ on us last night.)
anyway, yes. jin has improved a lot, vocally - outrageous like damn that man ate the whole cd. and then, his dancing, yes, he attacks these days too very much. tbh hoseok is proud af. also, then there`s chaotic side which i absolutely adore and his gentleman manner even though he is the sassiest kid ever since 1992. i love that man, with every bit of my almost dead, and emotionally drained soul.
Tumblr media
also, remember in that one burn the stage episode where he said that he`s nothing phenomenal - yes, i never wanted to punch his beautiful face that bad.
(also also, that gif is too hot.)

The Sheths
Ohmigod, look at this cute scarf…and these sunglasses! WOW!
Tumblr media
Exclamation, exuberance and wonder filled the room as we looked through “Mummy’s” (Surekhaben, the mother in law) stuff. Exquisite trinkets that told stories of her travels to exotic foreign lands…oh yes, she was an intrepid traveller. Hand-painted artwork with matching wooden bowls from Peru, a delicately embroidered purse from Japan, a small, gold-plated intricately carved antique silver frieze from Ladakh, innumerable crystal pieces, Lladro, Svarowski, Waterford, Bulgarian, Austrian and the like, some collected with love and others, gifted to her. This exclusive collection was her pride. And if she was gifted something which did not make the cut (and this has happened to me several times!), she would take it politely and consign it to the dark depths of her many cupboards, never to be seen again!!
Sifting through this treasure brought to life the vibrance of the life Papa and Mummy had led…the stylish photographs from a cruise in Alaska, fashionable group pictures with their “hip” friends, the sassy pictures from their childhood, and the stunning landscapes from their various sojourns across the globe; Europe with Raj travels (for a “Pratishtha” in London), Hongkong (and god knows where else) with Nirumasi, Vail with Ketu, regular weekend treks with their gang in Lonavala, Matheran, several trips with Surabhi masi and then of course, annual trips with all their grandchildren.
A life well lived.
These are the lives we celebrate.
Of Papa and Mummy.
Stories from old times flew around.
Vinodbhai, and his chutzpah to live well!
Let me begin with his passion for quality from fruits, where appearance was important, size (of course!) and colour, for mangoes in particular, they had to be the biggest, to the quality of paper for his letterheads (beautiful thick alabaster paper with simple gold lettering). This desire for excellence had made him the market leader for the fabrics which they produced.
The food at his parties would be from the “best caterer” and the menu would be lavish. Going out for a meal with Vinodbhai would be a grand affair where how would order more, never “over order” but it always felt like “a lot”. An often repeated story by all who went out with him: After a full meal he would ask on the table, what dessert shall we order? The polite response would be no, no, we have eaten too much... and as if he hadn’t heard this, he would go on to promptly order enough dessert for all to share, which would be polished off!
That was Papa, showing his warmth with food, humour and abundance.
His sense of fairness, practicality and honesty made him much sought after by all, for advice on family as well as work matters.
His ability to create lifelong friends, with strong bonds giving support, stability and comfort, some of which have lasted after him, was a legacy carried on by Ketu.
And his big heart, which had enough and more for everyone-from his family to his staff, to anyone who extended their hand towards him for help. He gave generously, and anonymously to hospitals, medical schools, various organizations and all. His philanthropy was truly altruistic.
His faith in Agas Ashram was wholehearted. This spirituality and understanding of values was his strength. He gave to the Ashram with his tan, man and dhan, with his full devotion.
Staying with him, I learned how to give.
Surekhaben, and her passion for élan, classy and one-of-a-kind stuff.
The Saris, sourced directly from weavers, were exclusive and of course, expensive. She would order 5 of each kind, (One for herself, 2 for her daughters and the potential daughter–in–law(ahem), and more often than not, one for Surabhi masi, or gifting(!!) Bandhanis, Patolas, Chanderis, Ashavalis, Paithanis…! I have heard tales of sari vendors coming to our house to sell their wares, the most famous one being the legendary Umeshbhai.
And her Diamonds, of the highest quality first, and size mattered too, but the shine and sparkle were more important. Her jewellery was like her- dignified, dainty, and classic.
She was into “aesthetic” before it became a thing!!
Staying with her, I learned about the “good stuff”. Flowers, curios, appearance, entertaining, and all with panache.
Tumblr media
Ketu, and his affluent yet non-pretentious life-style.
That was just he was brought up. As a rich kid! Ketu was a spoilt brat, spoilt by “Baa”- who was given everything and more. Yes, we found evidence- a photograph that showed that he had an electric toothbrush wayyyy back in 1982. I mean, who had even heard of it then???
His love for music was expressed in a big grand way, with a massive collection of CDs, definitively curated over time. He chose to do his post-graduation in Scranton so that he could travel to New York for every music concert, from those in Central Park to the big ones in Madison Square Garden. Not to be forgotten was his music equipment, from Bose speakers, to an amp and a pre-amp (is that even a real thing?) and even a “CD washer”(!!). These gadgets occupied a place of pride in our room (a LOT of place!).
His signature style in clothes, jeans and khakhis with a classic Polo shirt, Tshirt and his full sleeved striped sweatshirts, all branded, was simple.
Ketu lived by his beliefs and followed his dreams. Loyalty was paramount to him.
Staying with him, I learned to to be true and how discover my passion.
These are the remarkable people whom I have spent most of my adult life with.
The Sheths.
Of course, things were not always rosy, but I have smiled more than shed tears.
That is all that counts.
It’s been a wonderful life.
I am grateful for my memories.
Tumblr media
‘Life is made up of moments, small pieces of glittering mica in a long stretch of gray cement. It would be wonderful if they came to us unsummoned, but particularly in lives as busy as the ones most of us lead now, that won’t happen. We have to teach ourselves how to make room for them, to love them, and to live, really live.’
                                                                                         ~ Quindlen

Raymond Young: Sweets And Bitters Of Being A Singer, As Contrasted With His Former High-level Official Role
If we can inspire ourselves to dream more, learn more, try more and become more, we will be an inspiration for other people. Many in Hong Kong are enjoying their uncritical satisfaction with the present ‘achievements’. Pride, if not arrogance, is often a bad companion of unrealistic perception. Complacency is vermin, more to be feared than failure.
Raymond Young(楊立門)has an amazing life. The phenomenon of his convergent evolution can be perceived as a cosmic inspiration for Hongkongers. Phase by phase, he stayed truer and truer to himself; and followed his real passion. During his early school years in Raimondi College, he loved singing and Raymond’s band already received rousing welcomes.
In 1982, being one of the finalists of a TV singing contest and success being imminent, Raymond decided to withdraw from competition because Hong Kong Government offered him a very attractive job: Administrative Officer, the most senior grade of civil service. His need for stability prevailed. Having been in the hierarchy for more than 30 years and being at that time in power of a Permanent Secretary’s role, Raymond announced his life plan: early retirement from government and pursuing his passion to sing. Raymond and I talked. I said, “If money is not a concern but time is a problem, focus on what excites and propels you! Do not sing in charity shows only. Start your singing career from scratch and come down from your pride, if any, of once being a high-level official. Get used to the noisy, interrupting and non-attentive audience! Get used to having not enough performing jobs! Be prepared for any bad venue or theatre which will demoralize you! Brace yourself if your creative career will be packed with ups and downs.” I introduced WSM Music Group to Raymond. From there onwards, a star was born and Raymond is probably the most ‘senior/junior’ professional singer in the history of Hong Kong. He is unique: mature, gentle, cultivated, charismatic and with wonderful language skills.
Raymond performs as a solo artist and tours in theatres, concert venues and hotel function halls. CD is almost a dinosaur and the music of a singer has to be consumed on the spot. Raymond said, “When I was an official, there was somehow a distance between people and me. I served the people through the government’s policies and systems. Now, I serve people directly—the audience are just a few yards away. When I work onstage, my talent may not mean much, my stage charm, acquired in humility and with hard work resulting from bad experience, means everything. The job is always to make the audience enjoy to the fullest extent possible. Whether they laugh or weep, singing is an art that involves the audience as a participant as much as it involves the artist.”
I asked Raymond, “Do you regret to have made the decision of leaving the government?” He snickered, “No way! The best freedom is to be what you really are. Some passion is not meant to be caged. Now, I have no official position and am available for singing anytime. I truly feast my soul with freedom of choice, time and style.”
I mocked, “When you were an official, you were surrounded by courtiers seeking favour. Now, after make-up, you sit quietly and alone in the dressing room and wait for the command of others. How do you feel?” He understood what I actually did not mean, “Perfectly alright! The key word is humility. When one is humble, he can be flexible and adaptive. I am not a superstar and still struggling for wide recognition. I have no problem that people treat me like an ordinary performer. I do not even have my own hit song that everyone can sing. I sing simply because music moves my soul. Fame and fortune as a singer may or may not come. I don’t care.” I replied, “The former President of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong Mrs. Rita Fan told me 20 years ago that the biggest power was being powerless and yet able to get what you want. Some singers were not superstars but they were popular everywhere. It was their humility which charmed the audience.”
I asked, “Any story to tell us as a singer?” Raymond turned himself in, “I was sometimes a terrible singer under the curse of ‘Murphy’s Law’: anything that has gone wrong will keep on being wrong. On one occasion, I sang with the international singer Lea Salonga, the ‘Miss Saigon’, and we sang ‘A Whole New World’. I was a bit nervous and had a feeling that I would be wrong. It ended up that I really went wrong and mixed up the lyrics.”
Young age, good appearance, great voice and wonderful singing skill are a success model of any singer that is hard to break. Raymond is trying to break the model by taking away the 1st component only. It is unprecedented in Hong Kong and I sincerely wish him luck especially when I myself can feel that interest and passion are now embezzling many sums from my life.

Hong Kong protesters make online game their new home during pandemic

Nintendo's hit title ‘Animal Crossing’ allows protesters to gather virtually
Game protest image from Joshua Wong's Facebook.
Hong Kong’s youth-driven anti-government protests, which at their peak brought more than one million people out onto the streets, have largely subsided since January due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Schools and universities, which became hubs for the protest movement, are suspended, while the Disease Control Prohibition on Group Gathering issued March 28 linits gatherings in public places to no more than four people. Since then, young people have been taking to their screens rather than to the streets, and filling their free time with online video games. One online game, Animal Crossing, has stood out during the pandemic, as Hong Kong protesters have made use of the game's platform to air their political views and keep the spirit of the protests alive. The social simulation was released for Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020. Animal Crossing allows gamers to escape to a deserted island where they can freely build a house and garden using resources on the island. Moreover, gamers are able to host events and open their islands up to visitors. The game app also enables voice communication among gamers At the end of last month, a number of gamers gathered on the platform to create a virtual concert where they sang the protest anthem — Glory to Hong Kong. Below is a video recording of the game scene:

@studioincendo meanwhile shared a gamer’s island where visitors are invited to strike portraits of Hong Kong's Chief Executive with hammers:

Joshua Wong, a prominent pro-democracy activist, declared the game a new phase in the protests, which survived repeated crackdowns only to be brought to a halt by measures to combat COVID-19.

Shortly after Joshua Wong’s Tweet, on April 10, Animal Crossing was removed from online stores across China. Mainland censors are widely believed to be behind the removal and mainland gamers have blamed Wong for the ban. The incident has attracted international press attention. Never one to pass up an opportunity to further the cause, Wong has been offering journalists tours around the various protest sites in the game. He believes that online platforms can become a new arena to raise public awareness about Beijing's political encroachment in Hong Kong. Over a year since the beginning of mass protests sparked by a proposed bill on extradition to China, may Hong Kongers are itching to get back to the real thing, however. On April 18, taking advantage of diminished protest potential, Hong Kong police arrested 15 opposition leaders on suspicion of organising and participating in unauthorised assemblies against the Hong Kong government's proposal to amend the extradition law between August and October 2019. The arrests have triggered small protests in major shopping districts over the past two weeks. Police have charged the protesters, citing the Prohibition on Group Gathering. With the city marking 14 consecutive days of zero locally transmitted COVID-19 infections, it is anticipated mass protests will start up again in June, when disease control measures are set to be lifted.

Faye Wong is coming to town (2011)
by Jonathan Fam
A newbie in the concert scene is bringing to Singapore Faye Wong’s prohibitively expensive comeback gig this October. Just how did it snag the deal? It’s creative director Beatrice Chia-Richmond says it’s all down to some “secret weapons”.
Faye Wong is one of the - if not the most - expensive Asian acts. One concert promoter told us she costs “double what it takes to bring Jay Chou here for a concert”. Another put her price in the “same league as the Rolling Stones and The Eagles”. In fact, almost every organiser we spoke to remarked that merely breaking even was a feat in itself. So what deep pockets - or big cojones - does Running in the Sun, Fly Entertainment’s events arm, which recently staged the Retrolicious gig and Super Junior concerts, have to land what could possibly be the most anticipated and expensive concert of the year?
8 Days: What we really want to know is how you guys scored this coveted gig.
Beatrice: I don’t know - I’m still wondering. We’re still in shock. Yes, we were very surprised that we clinched it because I know there was a fight (among other concert organisers) to bring her in.
8 Days: Was there a fierce bidding war?
Beatrice: I don’t know about a bidding war. If there was, it wasn’t made known to me by the management. We had a good conversation with them and there was good chemistry. And we also had our secret weapons, which I can’t reveal to you (laughs).
8 Days: According to Hongkong reports, her artiste fee is a whopping $1.3 million while the production cost is $2 million (concerts in Singapore cost $1 million on average). Are these figures accurate?
Beatrice: (Laughs) It’s close. I’m not at liberty to reveal more because I’m bound by the contract. But I can say it’s one of the most formidable concerts I’ve had to fork out for. It’s definitely seven figures.
8 Days: Wouldn’t it be hard to break even then?
Beatrice: Obviously we have to do our sums and…its’ going to be very difficult for my company. But we’re huge fans of Faye. We’ve seen the concert in Taipei and it’s really no ordinary concert - it’s a work of art. It really isn’t about how high the costs are. It’s a huge privilege to have her here. We’re thinking more about that than dollars and cents. I’m just so happy that Singaproeans get to watch this concert here now.
8 Days: How will the Singapore leg of her tour compare to other  concerts she’s had so far?
Beatrice: We’re going to make sure that Singaporeans get to see the full version of the concert and not some edited, truncated version. The only difference might be the set-list because obviously different countries have different hits. But I must state again that when it comes to the production values, it will not be even one percent less than all her other concerts.
8 Days: Any idea how much the most expensive tickets will go for?
Beatrice: I can’t say at this point in time, but pricing will be released within the next couple of weeks.
8 Days: We expect demand to be very high, so why not make the concert two nights? Three, even?
Beatrice: We’ll take it step by step. Only if all the tickets for the first show are snapped up will we evaluate the need for a second concert. But its not up to us. We will need to negotiate with the star.

JACKSON: OTHER THAN BEING WITTY AND ADORABLE, I HAVE A SERIOUS SIDE TOO [BEIJING NEWS 24TH JULY 2017]
Wang Jia Er
Recently, everyone in Beijing has been meeting Wang Jia Er coincidentally.
The previous night, he appeared at the Lion Band’s concert to show support for Jam Hsiao, who’s on the stage. Other than his schedules, he’s been seen at the supermarket. choosing ingredients on his own to cook. Due to the establishment of his own work studio “Team Wang”, Wang Jia Er who’s always been filial also brought over his parents, who stays at HongKong. His work and family are all moved over to Beijing.
Talking about Wang Jia Er, most people know him through variety shows. His liveliness and honesty have created unexpected cuteness. From the need to prepare a Plan B in case “Wang Jia Er does not cooperate” in the food program he’s hosting, to the preventing this straightforward Aries boy from surprising people with his words, he triggers waves and waves of unexpected laughter.
“This is also the real me” says Wang Jia Er, that his overflowing playful character behind and in front of the screen is not a deliberate result. But recently, also because of this, this boy has started thinking and deliberating. “People once came to me and said ‘come, be funny’, but that’s not an occasion to be funny. I am cheerful but not foolish. So people always think that I am witty and adorable but no one ever mention’s Wang Jia Er’s music.”
“Singer” Wang Jia Er is slowly entering the public’s view now, from his own composed new single <Generation 2>’s official release. He told the Beijing news reporter, “I hope that in the future using other methods, I can let everyone see my serious side.”

Generation 2
FROM GYMNASTICS TO FENCING “I ONCE TOO DREAMT OF BEING AN OLYMPIC CHAMPION”
(We only live once), this is something Wang Jia Er says very often, and it is also a line from his new song <Generation 2>. Other than lyrics, the single’s MV was also completed with his own conception, creativity and planning. The fencing athletes appearing at the beginning of the MV also depicts the career he used to “live once” for, working hard for it.
28th March 1994, Wang Jia Er was born in Hong Kong into a sports family. His father is the former Hong Kong fencing team head coach Wang Ruiji and the mother is former Chinese team gymnastics star Zhou Ping. “Following the parents’ footsteps” seems to be an unwritten custom in the sports circle.
“People in the sports circle seem to all think that, children of outstanding sportsmen should go on the same path as them. So when I was 6, I started to practice gymnastics. When I reached 10, I realised I wasn’t growing much taller so my dad said let’s practice fencing.”
Wang Jia Er who started learning fencing, in one semester there was half the time he was competing overseas. But his studies did not suffer because of that, “although my results weren’t the best, but it was considered good. Sometimes I get an A too.”
His “dream” at that time, was “opening many schools and teaching children how to fence”, was “after I grow up , being able to let my parents lead a good life and stop working hard”, and what all athletes long for — “olympic champion”. “At the start, I only saw fencing as a hobby and interest”, says Wang Jia Er. “But after a certain stage, my goal got bigger and bigger. I didn’t only want to be China’s number 1, I also wanted to be Asia’s number 1, world number 1. So I cultivated my competitive character.”
Besides training and studies, as a half Shanghainese, he would stay in Shanghai for 3-4 months every year. So television shows and animations like <家有儿女><大头儿子小头爸爸> etc that the mainland children are familiar with, was also an important part of the young Wang Jia Er’s life.

USING THE ASIA GOLD MEDAL TO EXCHANGE FOR THE PATH AS A SINGER “YOU ONLY CAN LIVE ONCE, SO DO IT WITHOUT REGRET”
Very quickly, Wang Jia Er became the star of the Hong Kong fencing team. Earlier on when he came in contact with fencing, Wang Jia Er already had an interest in music. As he was schooling at an international school, Wang Jia Er who’s naturally cheerful, was active in student groups with various nationalities. Not only did he listen to Eason Chen and Justin Lo, he also came in contact with american rap, french music and Big Bang who just debuted at that time. He also tried composing on his own using the computer and this kind of behaviour made him feel very wonderful.
The first time he had anything to do with the career of a “singer” was in 2008. At that time, an overseas management company found the 14-year-old Wang Jia Er and asked if he was interested in becoming an artist. But when he mustered courage to tell his father about wanting to become a singer, Wang Ruiji just directly replied in four words: “don’t make me laugh”.
“My father just thought that a young child like me doesn’t know anything and a scout finding me to become a star must be a lie. That’s too ridiculous”. His parent’s worry made him reject this invitation. In 2011, the current management company scout once again took a fancy on Wang Jia Er, who was playing basketball at the court after school. Although he was late for half an hour, he still successfully passed the appraisal.
When he told his parents the news about passing the interview, what he received from them was still disapproval. “At that time I was already accepted into a very famous university and they were giving me scholarship. I also had quite a lot of sports brands offering sponsorship and the conditions that I had were all really good. In contrast, overseas management companies signing with trainees have elimination and dismissal mechanisms. The risk was too big.”
From then on, he was hesitating almost every moment. “People can only live once, so why limit yourself? I really want to try new things, live once and not let myself regret it.”
Thus in the same year, under the condition his father set of “if you win the Asia champion, I’ll send you over to become a trainee”, Wang Jia Er attained Asia fencing competition’s gold medal and in exchange, got his parent’s permission.

THOUGHT OF KILLING HIMSELF DURING HIS TRAINEE DAYS “THEY COULD ALREADY RUN, BUT I COULDN’T EVEN WALK”
The foreign environment made the 17-year-old boy, who chose another path to start anew, feel unsettled — the third day after he arrived in korea, Wang Jia Er realises that he “can’t do anything”. Not only did he feel inferior, he even wanted to “kill himself”. “The trainees around me had everything, good looks, good figure, they could speak, dance. My language couldn’t make it, abilities couldn’t make it, looks couldn’t make it. Everyone was already running, but I couldn’t even walk.”
Thus everyday like crazy, he learned language, practiced singing, trained his body. If others practiced 10 times he would do 100 times and he would rather just sleep less. He said, he could persevere due to his sportsman spirit. “When you are passionate and have the momentum about something, you won’t feel tired and you also won’t know how much potential you’ve got in you”.
Thinking back on the few years before debut, he confessed that it was hard. Everyday he ate at the same place and even thought that it was good that he could at least eat. “It wasn’t because I had no money, my parents gave me living expenses. But just thinking about the fact that it was my decision to go overseas, I didn’t want to always ask them for money. In fact, the thing I don’t like to do most is to bring burden to my parents.”
Couldn’t find anyone to share his troubles with and feeling helpless inside was probably Wang Jia Er’s biggest enemy while he was overseas. Although he was good friends with trainees of the same period, but everyone was in a highly pressured competitive environment. Many nights he could only sit on his own by the stairs and cried as he gazed at the skies. “Everyone’s worrying about the same thing, what you are suppressing inside cannot be shared. Even more so, it could not be said to my parents so I could only bear it on my own.”
His witty reactions, sincere smile and the individual skill of flipping on the spot from time to time, finally allowed Wang Jia Er to come to the fore. From being a guest on shows to being a permanent MC, from overseas to domestically, he was known by more people. “Other than variety, I want to let more people see a different me”, that is the goal Wang Jia Er set for himself when he returned home. When asked how much of that goal has he accomplished now, he blinked and said “It’s just the beginning and in short I will diligently show everyone a different side of me.”

MUSIC HE HAS 30 SONGS IN STORAGE NOW
“I will say without hesitation that I am a singer”. When he was asked by the reporter to “rank variety, movie (acting) and music in terms of their importance”, that was what he said. All along, Wang Jia Er has liked hip-hop music very much. But the way in which he treats his own work, is definitely not “laughing and joking”.*
<Generation 2> is his first solo single, he composed and wrote the lyrics on his own and participated in its arrangement and production. As for the source of his creation, he said it has in fact nothing to do with “inspiration”. “it is just very casual, music and a lot of things won’t come just because you want them to. Sometimes when you are sleeping or getting out of bed, showering, drinking water, you would think of it. I won’t stipulate that i have to write songs on this day,  sit in front of a table and hold a pencil to tell myself to get started.”
“I’ve always been making music, I have about 30 plus songs. Some songs, hearing it after a long time (after making it) I would think why is it so ridiculous and dispose it away immediately. Usually if I have any new songs, I would send it to the producer, my parents and those professionals or non-professionals. They too, would give me a lot of feedback”. *a word pun was made between hip-hop – xi ha and laughing and joking – xi xi ha ha

FRIENDSHIP I AM “THE FLOWER OF THE WORLD” *
Because of his good socialising skills and relations, people like to call Wang Jia Er the “flower of Cheong Dam Dong”. He confidently laughs and says that it’s not only Cheong Dam Dong, it should be “the flower of the world”. In front of a friend he just met, he also would show his heart without any scruples. “No matter what other people think, I must put forth my real self first.”
So no matter whether he’s in front or behind the scenes, he and Lu Han, Wang Kai, Da Zhang Wei, Jam Hsiao and more, have established a deep friendship. He says that he’s very fortunate that these seniors did not only see him as a working partner. They would never say “thank you” and “goodbye” then disappear after the end of recording for the show or at the end of the schedule.
Lu Han sends him messages from time to time asking him what he’s doing and is there any new song he released that he could listen to; When he misses Da Zhang Wei he would send a message on Wechat saying “Hyung, I miss you”. Because of that, Da Zhang Wei exclaimed that Wang Jia Er is really a special friend because he’s never received such a message before. Wang Jia Er heard it and laughed, “If you miss (someone) you have to express it, if I don’t say it what else could I have said?”

Wang Jia Er says that he interacts frequently with Luhan often during his private time.
[Q&A]
Beijing news: Previously you were on the hot search, because you saw some of your fans holding your “black history” photos at the concert and you  even took these on stage. How did you feel then?
Jackson: (covers face) Not some fans, it’s everyone that was supporting me were holding onto this kind of photos. Only my photos are like that out of the whole group, so that’s what I am like in their hearts. Is it because I am too easy-going with them? Actually I like to be like friends with my fans, they can see me as a neighbourhood oppa. But, I just hope that the photos aren’t like that in the future.
Beijing news: In a lot of occasions, you are the youngest one. So when do you feel the manliest and with the most undertaking”
Jackson: When I am doing music, when I am serious or when I am looking at myself in the mirror before the shower.
Beijing news: Now you can speak mandarin, english, korean etc many languages. Do you think that you have have an exceptional gift for languages?
Jackson: I know a lot of languages but I’m not the best in any language. My mandarin is like this, if you let me write a 10k word thesis, I’ll possibly puke. I don’t know if I have a gift for language but I dare to speak (in different languages), even if I make a mistake while doing so so what?

Beijing news: Do you have any plans to release an album? How about concert?
Jackson: For album, the bullets are already prepared. It’s just seeing when the shot should be fired. As for concert, we’ll just see how it goes.
Beijing news: From debut till now, have you met with any setbacks and thought that you wanted to give up?
Jackson: I ever did think about giving up for that 0.000001 seconds. But immediately I pulled myself out from that thinking. Now I also have a group that’s like family to me. If I have troubles I can also tell them. Tell them everyday and annoy them till no end (laughs).
Beijing news: How do you regard the identity of an artist? What do you want to say to yourself after 20 years?
Jackson: Artist to me is a job. I only appear on stage, on television, I’ll film shows and release songs. But I don’t understand why some people always think that stars are different. Because when we exit the stage, we are not any different from normal people. I can say for sure “being popular” is not my goal. I don’t care about those up and downs. I only care about the quality of the works with the Wang Jia Er label and whether I can show it to everyone. As for myself after 20 years, I want to say that you must have responsibility, let your family and team lead a good life and let them enjoy.
