What is the hardest game you feel you have ever played?
If you want to you can make a distinction between hardest to beat period and hardest to complete
Shuffle is a dead ringer since it's straight-up unfair, so I'll exclude it on those grounds.
Usually if a game is proving too boring or difficult to justify continuing it, I'll quit. Mama raised a quitter :P
If we're talking games I've completed? Honestly... the one that keeps coming to mind is Sonic Unleashed. Both Wii and HD; it's difficult to choose which one gives you a worse wedgie.
I feel like I've blocked out some memories of Eggmanland due to trauma and that is only a little bit of an exaggeration rofl. Gives me 'nam flashbacks, as well as "press X sixty times to deal the final blow." Holy crap, my thumbs.
Yeah, I'm a lightweight. Really bad at viddy games. xP
I guess the game's not unfair if you play it consistently, but you definitely need to have honed your reflexes before you tackle some of the later stages. Those Werehog levels get ungodly long.
Certain Day stages also proved quite difficult mostly due to QTEs lol. I remember there were a lot of sections where I was like "God, please just let me scrape through this one."
Hardest to complete? SA2. No contest. Fucking KART RACING.

TL;DR If you wanna jump straight into it then start with 1. But if you’re a total beginner and scared I recommend starting with 3 or 4. And play Bloom it’s great.
1 is the original, it’s got the original mechanics original 3 types, etc. if you wanna get the 1 to 4 experience start with that. I haven’t played it. It’s light on the story as most of it are end of day logs.
2 is the fan favorite. It’s also imo the hardest don’t go for it first unless you’re crazy. I was crazy and that was my first Pikmin game. At the same time I was also like 6 so. I replayed it yes but I still consider it more difficult. It’s a little heavier on the story but it’s mostly just in the beginning and end of the game. It also introduces the most character of all time. But I personally wouldn’t recommend it to people who are brand-spanking-new to the games.
3 is my personal favorite cause it kickstarted my first Pikmin hyperfixation. It was released 10 years after 2 so it’s more beginner friendly and not as high stakes but it has my favorite story out of the 4. It is told during gameplay and also has some out of game secrets that are fun to look for! Though I never played the switch one. The game was engineered around the Wii U and the gamepad so I personally feel that some of the experience is lost but I can’t really say.
4 came out literally last month and it’s definitely the most different out of all the Pikmin games. It also has a lot of tribute to the last 3 games which is incredibly cute. It also happens to be the most beginner friendly as it has a lot more accommodations to help with problems. It is by far the ‘easiest’ Pikmin game. (The challenge lies more in the side story mode anyways) A lot of things in 4 are very nerfed compared to previous games, and your little companions makes it easier to deal with. Now this doesn’t mean nothing isn’t a threat it’s still challenging at least for me. This doesn’t mean it’s a bad game. It’s actually the most polished out of the 3 I played in my experienced. But it doesn’t quite follow the same exact formula that’s been being used for the past 3 games. Other than that it’s probably next to Pikmin 2 in terms of replayability imo. However a word of caution, it’s not a story continuation after 3. It’s more like a retelling AU of 1. Honestly I loved it. 50 hours on my first save and I’m planning on making another just to replay the story again.
And Bloom is an entirely different game and it can be enjoyed even if you know nothing of the games. It’s similar to Pokémon go in the sense it uses location tracking for, but it’s more so of a glorified day and step tracker with a Pikmin skin. I’ve been playing since launch and boy it’s come a long way since launch. And I mean this in the good sense! If you have to or you like going through outside whether it’s for work or on an outing of some sort, heck even grocery shopping! It’s a great motivator to do so. Trust me my health improved thanks to the motivation this game gave me to move around and leave the house. (That probably says something about me, does it…) If you download it PLEASE TELL ME ill give you my invite code we can get some sweet rewards no the game doesn’t doxx you to your friends it’s okay
So these are my opinions. If you wanna ask more people about it then you can but this is my viewpoint on the games and which ones I recommend.
Play Pikmin (demand but no pressure but at the same time pressure but I don’t wanna make you uncomfortable but please play Pikmin I’ll even buy all the games for you if possible it’s all on the switch please play Pikmin please but I don’t wanna big give you anxiety from the pressure but please please play Pikmin please)
I wanna play Pikmin one day it looks really cute! I wanna collect all the little friends and take care of them (* ´ ▽ ` *) I'll add it to my backlog of games I gotta play and get it when it's on sale :> one day...
ALSO DON'T FEEL BAD YOU'RE ALL GOOD I DON'T MIND ADGSKAGDJAFDHAFD
Do I have to start with the first one or can I start with any? :o
Also, Pikmin Bloom is cute and I am. Kind of tempted to download that. Shhh I know it's pokemon go but pikmin but still! It's cute and my other friend has named his pikmin really weird things and it's the best thing ever HEHEHE
#pikmin#oh yeah there’s also another game. it’s on the 3DS. it’s called Hey! Pikmin#but it’s. not that good of a game I heard. I only played the demo and personally didn’t like it#we don’t talk about Hey! Pikmin#all my homies hate Hey! Pikmin

The two versions of Sonic Unleashed are so interesting to me because I honestly can’t decide which one I like more.
The HD Unleashed on Xbox 360 and PS3 always struck me as having some of the highest highs in the Sonic series but also some of the lowest lows. It looks gorgeous, especially for the time it came out and the art direction does a splendid job selling the vibe of an adventure round the world. It has some of the most spectacle heavy, fast paced levels of all the Boost games. It’s also probably the hardest Boost game which is probably why it tends to score better with die hard Sonic fans who are more patient and looking for a challenge, than it does with newbies or general audience who come to it with no idea what to expect, get their butts kicked three levels in and bounce off. When everything clicks, it looks and feels amazing. And when you couple that with the gorgeous cutscenes, possible one of the best OSTs in the entire franchise and a simple but surprisingly wholesome story, it makes for a really fun and sprawling adventure.
On the other hand, while it’s exhilarating at its best, at its worst this game makes me want to put my head through a wall. The biggest offender is obviously medal collection. Making the player grind to a halt to pick up mandatory collectibles is just aggravating. It’s not so bad in the night stages where taking your time is encouraged, but in the day stages it’s insufferable. I find it always spikes around Adabat/Jungle Joyride where you get the 6th Chaos Emerald. No matter how diligent I am on any given replay, I always find myself having to stop and backtrack for medals here. Which adds insult to injury because I don’t even like Jungle Joyride. It encapsulates a lot of the worst traits of Unleashed’s levels. Specifically, they’re are often too long, especially the later night levels. I’m less encouraged to practice them to work up to a S Rank because one slip up means restating and doing several minutes of progress again. The day stages are shorter of course but levels like Jungle Joyride Act 1 are still longer than anything in Colours or Generations, which makes replaying for S Ranks a real chore. And I personally don’t think the level design is on par with Generations. There’s a lot more cheap deaths you don’t see coming and the controls (especially the drift) are much looser. I put a lot down to this being the first Boost game (unless you count Rush). So Unleashed is very experimental in figuring out what works. And not all of it does.
And your reward for all of this is the worst final level and final boss of the mainline series (at least in my opinion). HD Unleashed is pretty great for a lot of its runtime but you have to put up with some real BS to get there and it really falls off near the end. A lot of the minute issues worsen near the endgame and all the worst levels are packed together there too. Whenever I replay HD Unleashed, I’m always super into it at the start but by the time I reach the final levels, I just kind of want it to be over.
And then there’s the Wii/PS2 version. Getting it out of the way, the worst part of this is how cut down it feels compared to the HD version. It naturally looks worse. Empire City and Savannah Citadel are cut for no real reason. And the charming huh words are replaced with these ugly point and click maps that look like something out of a smartphone game. It’s naturally very stripped down and lacks a lot of the flavour…
And yet, some of those cuts are actually good? Medals being optional rewards that get you extra lives and other bonuses is so much more palatable than making them progression gates. Plus, they’re now rewards for good ranks rather than forcing you to stop and look for them so they encourage you to actually get better at the game. I also think the daytime levels actually fix some of the problems in the HD counterpart. Assuming you play with a GameCube/Classic Controller to circumvent the annoying motion controls, then the drift feels much tighter, the homing attack and boost aren’t mapped to same button anymore, and, hot take here, but the level design is actually better in some ways than the HD version. Less cheap deaths and bottomless pits you can’t see coming because the camera’s zoomed in too close. The length is also closer to Generations. Not so short that you’re done in a minute but also not so long that replaying for S ranks is a chore.
The Werehog levels are definitely worse of due to a downgraded combat system that robs them of any depth the HD version might have had, but between having less annoying QTEs, and being split into shorter, but more numerous acts, (which again, makes S rank replays more manageable), there’s still some pros even here. Plus, the EXP system is much less grindy here. Maxing out the Werehog is so much less tedious.
I still admittedly don’t care for the Secret Rings esque missions, but I’ll take them over the Hot Dog Challenges or the unfair optional acts and DLC levels in the HD version. Couple that with a final level and boss fight that isn’t awful this time, and the fact that the fun story and cutscenes are still intact, and Unwiished is..actually pretty great. It’s definitely missing a lot of the HD version’s charm and that game is still certainly more complete. But when you remove a lot of the bloat from that version it’s a lot easier to enjoy the best parts of Unleashed.
I guess I just wanted to ruminate on my feelings on the two versions of Unleashed because I have a complicated relationship with the game. Like I said, to me, of all the Boost games it’s always been the one with the highest highs and the lowest lows. I don’t go back to it as much as Colours or Generations even though there are parts I think eclipse either of those two games. I always liked it, but it was never one of my absolute favourites, so while I was really happy to see it gain more of a following in recent years, I wasn’t exactly stanning the game myself, especially when the praise tends to revolve almost entirely around the HD version, where as I think both versions have their pros and cons. The Wii version fixes a lot of the problems I have with the HD one, but it also lacks a lot of the flavour and many of the cuts feel like a step too far. They definitely complement each other and I’d recommend both to series’ fans, but it all serves to make them very interesting titles to reflect on.

Disability, Video Games, and Controllers
I’m Beth, I love video games, and I’m disabled. My disabilities affect my daily life, and this includes how I play and enjoy video games. I’ve also realized that how my disabilities affect my ability to play video games is not in a way that would be obvious to many able bodied people, or even to my own predictions of what I can and can’t do. So today I wanted to talk about how my disabilities affect how I play video games.
First I need to clarify what I'm not going to talk about. I’m not talking about how disabilities are represented in video games. Representation is important, but many other people have spoken about it. Honestly there are many videos on the representation of disabilities in the media, and I don’t think I could come up with anything new or interesting on it.
Secondly I’m not going to talk about a universal disabled experience, because there are no universal disabled experiences. Being disabled is a very broad thing, and can include a number of different physical and mental health problems. To even get a vague idea of what that would be would take more energy than I have. I literally spend half my waking day laying down feeling like crap. I don’t have the energy to do the research and interviews to give a broader view on this.
Instead I'm focusing on my own experiences with the idea that by seeing how my disabilities affect me, you will have a frame of reference to think about the other possible ways disabilities might affect others.
Most people who have played a variety of video games have eventually learned that the control system can define the game, and even an entire genre. You have your computer rpgs and turn based strategies with each key on the keyboard bringing up another esoteric menu for you to figure out. There are fighting games where truly competitive players have controllers broken in just the right way for optimum play. Then you have games where button mashing is a fun and valid way to play no matter what elitists say. Beyond the exact control systems are the controllers themselves.
Handheld controllers, keyboard and mouse, and touch controls are all common. There are also the more gimmicky motion controls that have slowly gone out of style after they boomed thanks to the Wii.
Most people have their preferences, and most games are built with one control system in mind over the others. A good example is if you've played Elden Ring with the keyboard and mouse you can tell that the person who mapped out these controls did it a bit weird. To open the map for example you have to hit G not M, and when you've played computer games for over two decades that is a curveball. The game also never tells you how to even open the map when you are playing with the keyboard and mouse, and you can’t even change the keyboard bindings for it. On the flip side you have computer games ported to a console, and there was a reason people who had played System Shock 2 considered its spiritual successor BioShock overly simplified.
But when you have one or more disabilities, how you play the game becomes much more important than simple preference, nor is it about choosing the control scheme the game was designed for. The controls used can determine if you can play at all, how much you can play, and how difficult it is to play.
So to give everyone an idea how disabilities and different control systems can interact I'm going to use myself as an example and starting with the hardest control systems for me to use and ending with the easiest one.
Motion controls like I said earlier first became popular with the Wii, and one of the things the Wii was lauded for was how the elderly could play and get physical activity in. I've heard about it being used in physical therapy of all kinds, and all sorts of other things. With the way I shake and my weakness in my dominant hand, I find they suck so much for me.
Part of this is the kinds of games I gravitate to that tend to be more complex and often are asking more of the motion controls than they are able to deliver. But even party games are not something I can do with motion controls because they require the use of my whole body. You might think, but it's only a flick of the wrist and yes it often is. Yet these games encourage full body movement, and I would argue this is where the fun comes from.
This is bad for me because everyday is about using my energy wisely. If I get tired it's more than just being sleepy. My right leg doesn't like to cooperate with my brain, and it takes extra effort to walk even while using my cane. This means I'm always tired, and I'm sure most people listening know how much more difficult it is to do things when tired. Unlike most people I struggle to walk on normal days, so when things get worse they get much worse. The fact is I want to keep the days where I risk collapsing on my way to the bathroom at a minimum.
It may also seem silly to bring motion controls up.The Wii was a generation ago, and motion controls never picked up as much outside of that counsel, but I used to love playing party games with my friends while drinking. Now many of those same games are impossible for me to play, not to mention alcohol and movement disorders don't mix.
To continue on the topic of casual games, phone games are frustrating for me to the point I've raged quit Sudoku more times than I have any Fromsoft game. Touch controls do not like shaky hands. I can't even use the automated system to call in my prescriptions because typing in a string of numbers correctly isn't something I can do with any regularity. Phone games use the same touch screen, but make it even more complicated. Anything with a time limit is often just impossible for me after a certain point and I might be tooting my own horn but I used to be very good at puzzle games. Still I often play sudoku on my phone when I'm too sickly to sit up and brain fog makes it impossible to read.
I'm more skilled with recognizing patterns of numbers than letters, most likely because I'm dsylexic, so sudoku is a relatively mindless pass time for me. But when I'm playing a Sudoku game where there is a max of 3 mistakes I could use them up surprisingly fast by hitting 6 instead of 5 repeatedly, or not selecting the proper cell because of how my hand shakes.
Now I want you to imagine that. You have the right solution to a game that isn't time based and you still can't get it right because your shaky hand just missed. It isn't even based on physical skills, but mental ones instead. There has been more than one time it's just driven me to intense annoyance, because this seemingly easy task is difficult for me.
Now I actually like counsel games and their controllers. How the buttons are placed are generally far enough apart and require enough force that my tremors are not going to mess it up.
Of course anyone who has grown up playing video games like me will wonder which controllers I prefer, but my preference is more based on what I'm used to than what works best with my disability. This is because the basic muscle memory of a playstation controller hasn't changed ever. I may have problems using those muscles, but as I've never used an Xbox style controller for longer than an occasional afternoon at a friend's house it would be like starting from scratch.
Nintendo controllers on the other hand have changed many many times, but Nintendo generally has younger children in mind who are not yet as coordinated as adults. So the general shapes of their controllers are easier to use, but as mentioned before no motion controls please and thank you. I’m looking at you Breath of the Wild.
There is a universal problem of hand endurance and strength. Holding the controller so I can get to the R1 and R2 buttons puts more strain on my hands, and if the game has a pace that gives me little chance to rest my hand will wear out quickly to the point that even pushing buttons tires me out quickly. The controller literally becomes too heavy for my right hand to hold.
If I don't have to use the trigger buttons often I can hold the controller in a way that is much more sustainable, but frankly they have become staples to video games, and I understand why. It feels natural to use shoulder buttons, but it doesn't change the fact my hand is weak.
To combat this I have to take frequent breaks. When I played Bloodborne for the first time last year I generally only played an hour at a time. Any longer than that and my skill level dropped significantly, and if I played for too long I would wear myself out so much I couldn't play for days.
I should also point out that frequent breaks also means I have to lay down. I have to lay down several times a day, and that either means a nap or using my phone.
I have actually tried to play counsel games laying down on days I'm very tired. The fact that controllers are wireless make this easier, and I'm sure for some disabled people this works wonderfully. Unfortunately I can not turn my tv on its side, and looking at a game situated vertically when I'm horizontal gives me motion sickness. The Nintendo Switch might make a good alternative when I "switch" to the handheld mode, but unfortunately unlike their old dedicated handhelds it is too heavy for me to hold that way for any length of time.
The last common option is the good old keyboard and mouse, which is my best option.
I mentioned the Elden Ring wasn't made with keyboard controls in mind, but it is still the easiest way for me to play.
The advantages for keyboard and mouse start with the fact I don't have to hold them. This already takes strain off my right hand. Then most of the quick movements tend to be on the keyboard which is mostly performed with the left hand. Most of my symptoms appear on the right side of my body, and my left side while still affected is more affected by the fact it has to compensate for the right side.
I also haven't had to learn anything special to use the keyboard and mouse to compensate. W A S D keys have been used to move in video games for a long time, and I learned to use those keys long before I became sick. I also learned to touch type back in jr high (7 & 8th grade), so that even when I need to use my right hand I have decades of practice to help combat my tremors.
The right hand of course uses the mouse, but mouse sensitivity can be changed to adapt to my tremors. The other thing is that a side to side motion is much easier on my right hand than an up and down motion. So the mouse does play to my strengths, or at the very least does not invoke my weaknesses.
I've generally moved to almost exclusively playing video games on the computer because of this, but I am just one disabled person. Someone with different problems might find different control schemes easier or harder than I do.
And that's the key, everyone is different with different problems. There is no one size fits all approach, and this is why I like the idea of games with multiple control options. It is even made better when you can change the key bindings in the options menu. I generally don't change them, but I know that for some people this can make a game actually playable.
This is just one way disability can affect the way you play video games, and in the future I would like to go into the other ways disability changes things. For now I think this is a good starter, and I hope it helps teach the ways just small changes can make a big difference.

ive seen a lot of rvb pos ts on ur blog and im just u kno tht its abt all men and wrtten by all men right????????????? its problematic u shld stop wtching it
You know what? Go ahead and try.
You’re targeting Gamers.
Gamers.
We’re a group of people who will sit for hours, days, even weeks on end performing some of the hardest, most mentally demanding tasks. Over, and over, and over all for nothing more than a little digital token saying we did.
We’ll punish our selfs doing things others would consider torture, because we think it’s fun.
We’ll spend most if not all of our free time min maxing the stats of a fictional character all to draw out a single extra point of damage per second.
Many of us have made careers out of doing just these things: slogging through the grind, all day, the same quests over and over, hundreds of times to the point where we know evety little detail such that some have attained such gamer nirvana that they can literally play these games blindfolded.
Do these people have any idea how many controllers have been smashed, systems over heated, disks and carts destroyed 8n frustration? All to latter be referred to as bragging rights?
These people honestly think this is a battle they can win? They take our media? We’re already building a new one without them. They take our devs? Gamers aren’t shy about throwing their money else where, or even making the games our selves. They think calling us racist, mysoginistic, rape apologists is going to change us? We’ve been called worse things by prepubescent 10 year olds with a shitty head set. They picked a fight against a group that’s already grown desensitized to their strategies and methods. Who enjoy the battle of attrition they’ve threatened us with. Who take it as a challange when they tell us we no longer matter. Our obsession with proving we can after being told we can’t is so deeply ingrained from years of dealing with big brothers/sisters and friends laughing at how pathetic we used to be that proving you people wrong has become a very real need; a honed reflex.
Gamers are competative, hard core, by nature. We love a challange. The worst thing you did in all of this was to challange us. You’re not special, you’re not original, you’re not the first; this is just another boss fight.
Oh, you call yourself a gamer because you play COD? Bitch PLEASE! I am a gamer, YOU are a Lemming. I’ve got a game from every damn genre, I’ve got FPSs, TPSs, RTSs, RPGs, Racing, Horror, Sims, I’ve even got bloody JRPGs. I’ve got AAAs, indies, art houses, I’ve got prequels, sequels, should never of been made-els, I’ve got standard editions, special editions, collectors editions, Limited editions, legendary editions. I’ve got Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, Gameboy pocket, I’ve got X-Box, I’ve got Playstation, I’ve got DLC, I’ve got expansion packs, map packs, weapon pack, content packs, I have something of EVERYTHING! I, and take note, I am a gamer you bloody Lemming, I play real games, no matter the console or genre, that stir real emotion, I play everything from Fallout and Mass Effect, to Gears of war and Assassins Creed, to Banjo Kazooie and viva pinata, to, yes, even Call of Duty. So you shut up, get in line and throw your money at Activision for the same damn shooter every year, so that WE can get PROPER games published, and stop calling yourself a Gamer you self entitled, hate filled, slur slinging little wannabe.

Ever since the Southside and Northside made up Riverdale felt a bit brighter. The best part was I didn’t need to hide my relationship with Sweet Pea anymore. So when everyone found out they were really happy for us. They were also shocked since I was the shy girl in the group and Sweet Pea was the bad boy flirt. I was honestly probably the shyest girl in Riverdale, it took years for my friends to actually get to know me. That’s probably why they were so shocked that I was dating Sweet Pea.
Once a week Betty invites the gang over for game night, it was actually a fun time. Each time someone knew picks a game for all of us to play, This week it was Cheryl’s turn. Plus the Serpents that have joined our group were joining. We all got to Betty’s place and there were drinks and snacks lining her coffee table. We were all daw around and wondering what Cheryl had picked.
“Alright Cheryl, what game did you pick?” Kevin asked.
“I’m glad you asked!” She said and pulled out a Wii and Just Dance 2016.
“I love Just dance!” Veronica said happily.
“This is gonna be fun.” Fangs said with a smile. Everyone seemed actually excited about this, even Jughead. I knew this was one that I was going to sit out on, I’d much rather just watch my friends enjoy themselves.
As the night went on everyone had gone a few time except me. In between dances everyone was trying to convince me to go, I should have known this was going to happen.
“Come on Y/N/N! It’s a lot of fun!” Toni said and I shook my head.
“I’m good.” I said.
“Come on Y/N, even I did it!” Jughead said with a smile.
“Yeah I did it too!” Sweet Pea said.
“Yeah, but I’d rather watch.” I said and they all shook their heads.
“It’s just for fun Y/N.” Betty said and I sigh.
“If I do one song will you guys leave me alone then?” I asked, I wasn’t annoyed at them, but I knew they wouldn’t stop.
“Yes!” They all said and I sighed.
“Okay, give me the remote.” I said and Archie handed me it. I started looking through the songs and saw Circus by Britney Spears. I smiled and decided I was try it on extreme, seeing as I was a good dancer but my friends didn’t know that.
“Um Y/N/N, you put it on extreme…” I heard Fangs say.
“I know.” I said with a shrug. The song started and I got ready to dance. I knew this was kind of a sexy dance and it was so unlike me, but I loved this song so much.
(Watch this video because honestly I don’t really know how to describe what’s going on lol)
Once I finished I was breathing a little heavy and my skin was glistening with sweat. I turned back around and everyone’s jaws were practically on the floor. I placed the remote on the coffee table and sat next to my boyfriend.
“That was amazing!” Kevin, Fangs, and Toni said at the same time.
“I take dance classes, I have since I was a kid.” I said with a shrug.
“You so need to be a Vixen with those moves!” Cheryl said with a smirk and I shook my head.
“You know I don’t like being the center of attention Cher.” I said and she sighed.
“You can’t let those move go to waste!” She said and I shook my head.
“Not happen Cheryl.” I said and she groaned.
“Her moves won’t go to waste, not that I know what she can do.” Sweet Pea said pulling me closer and my face went red.
“Pea!” I squeaked and everyone laughed.

50 Follower Special! Part 4
Here we are, the penultimate part. These games are all amazing and I love them for various reasons. I can play any of these games time and time again and enjoy them. Lets take a look at number 20 – 11!
20 - Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill 2 is my favorite horror game. While I do believe the third silent Hill game is the scariest, this one is by far the most well-known. A very symbolic game that acts upon the psychological torment of James Sunderland and other people trapped in the hellish town of Silent Hill. This game can be clunky and can have some very stilted dialogue. Despite its age as an early ps2 game, its still a fantastic game. It has some great moments and very memorable monsters, especially pyramid head. If you want to play a good horror game, play this one.
Will I review this game? – Yes
--------------------------------
19 - castlevania Symphony of the Night
As I said earlier, metroidvania is an awesome genre, and this game was the first. While honestly any of the Metroidvania games could fit this spot, I choose Symphony for one reason, Alucard. Alucard is a great character and I didn’t play this game until after I saw the castlevania Netflix animated series. This game can offer hours of exploration and combat and can be somewhat difficult. It can cost a pretty penny to get a physical copy, so it will be best to just buy it off PSN.
Will I review this game? – Yes
--------------------------------
18 - Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VII…The most famous title of the Final Fantasy series. I got this game as a gift for graduating high school and I loved it. The music, the combat and all the bonuses and extras that I could find. There is a group of people that claim this game is inferior to most other final fantasy games. While this game does have some flaws I think that the mindset that this game is not good either comes from a personal vendetta or gripe, or just a desire to be ‘different’. Cloud as a protagonist was ok, but I will say he is not my favorite Final Fantasy protagonist, but he isn’t bad either.
Will I review this game? – Yes
--------------------------------
17 - Elder Scrolls Skyrim
Skyrim is one of the most well-known games of all time. Essentially available on everything ranging from the PS3 onwards, its hard to not know about this game. An open world fantasy RPG made by Bethesda. When I first got this game, I didn’t like it that much because I had the buggy original with no way to update. Several quests were locked due to glitches and so on. My opinion changed when I got the special edition for the Ps4 and since then I have platinumed it. If you can only get one game, make it this, it can keep you entertained for a very long time.
Will I review this game? – Yes
--------------------------------
16 - Undertale
I played Undertale shortly after watching the Game Grumps played it and I feel in love. Yes, like the sonic franchise, this game has spawned an…interesting fanbase, but that aside, this is an amazing game. An RPG bullet hell where you can choose not to kill anyone, this game has a massive emphasis on story and character interaction and it is great. The music is one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard and the combat is unique and diverse. Undertale is a game you can beat in only a few hours and it is totally worth the price. This is a game I am proud to see become a success.
Will I review this game? – Yes
--------------------------------
15 - Super Smash Bros Brawl
My favorite smash title, while MANY players will disagree, I think Brawl is the best smash game, and unless Ultimate changes my mind this will likely stay the same. I wanted brawl the moment I saw it, and boy was I excited when I got it for Christmas nearly a year after it came out. This game is what introduced me to Metal Gear Solid as well so bonus points for that. I love everything about this game. The trophies, the game modes, the story mode and so on. I didn’t have a main, but I did play as Link and Charizard a lot.
Will I review this game? – Yes
--------------------------------
14 - Breath of the Wild
This was a breath of fresh air! This game was at first very different from previous games and was really difficult to get started into! This is probably the hardest Zelda game with a lot of ways to get a game over. This also has a ton of character in it as well and I loved the characters introduced. I openly welcomed the voice acting and it was great, and the combat, while hard to get used to, was very rewarding. This is a great game and is the king of my Wii U collection. This game deserves all the praise it gets.
Will I review this game? – Yes, but we have a loooong way to go before we reach this one.
--------------------------------
13 - Pokemon Platinum
Pokemon Platinum is my favorite main series Pokemon game with Sun being a very close second. I love generation four and the Sinnoh region. Platinum fixed some of the pacing issues of Diamond and Pearl and focused on one of my all time favorite pokemon Giratina. This is a game I long to have in my collection again, as I have lost my old copy many years ago…
Will I review this game? – Maybe.
--------------------------------
12 - Final Fantasy XII (Ironic huh?)
Now for the final Final Fantasy title. Don’t blame me, I love this series and I have played every single game to completion barring 11 and 14. 12 was a title I poured a lot of time into. I liked the combat, the missions and the overall world. I didn’t care much for the story at all and it probably has the most forgettable Final Fantasy Villain in my opinion. It had some amazing cutscenes and is probably one of the prettiest games on the Ps2. Now I am waiting for the chance that I will be able to purchase the Zodiac Age remake for Ps4 and experience it all over again.
Will I review this game? – Yes, but we have a long way to go before we reach this one.
--------------------------------
11 - Halo 3
Halo 3 is an excellent game and is a title my brother and I have spent a lot of time playing. I have beaten this game so many times and have done everything I could to discover every secret and Easter egg. With epic battles, great dialogue and action-packed levels and a cool story. Halo 3 was my first outing to the Halo series and I beat it in one sitting. This game holds a fond place in my heart and is an excellent Xbox 350 game…but it isn’t my favorite Halo game…
Will I review this game? – Yes.

this is an ask based thingy but im really in the mood to infodump so im just gonna answer them all under the cut !
Favorite video game?
starting off with the absolute hardest question huh? i can’t possibly name ONE favorite game of mine because i adore my favorites for many different reasons. my overall favorite video game is ffxv or botw. ffxv because it has brought me so much joy for such a long time, and because i have such a connection with the characters. botw because i was actually in the fandom when it first got announced in 2016 so i got to be there when the hype was at an all time high– and finally being able to play the game after waiting for so long was an unforgettable experience. i have more favorite games but ill talk more about them in the ‘’special place in ur heart’’ question.
First console you owned?
my first console wasn’t a console. my friend and i used to play on her nintendo dsi all the time and at one point tiny little me reeeally wanted one of my own so i saved up and got one in [redacted] when i was 7. my first actual console was a wii though, we got that around the same time.
A game that holds a special place in your heart?
ffxv and botw mean the absolute world to me, but super mario galaxy and skyward sword are very important to me too. skyward sword is the game that got me into zelda which got me into anime which got me into final fantasy etc etc etc. super mario galaxy was the first non-mini game collection and more adventure story-ish game i played. i was so proud when i beat it for the first time and mario was my first ever ‘’fandom’’ :’)
Favorite video game character?
bro. i cant pick just one so i’ll choose one per game : prompto, ryuji and link. they were all my comfort characters at some point and i projected like crazy onto them. this doesnt mean that i wouldnt absolutely die for noct or zelda.
Least favorite video game character?
i dont think theres anyone i distinctly dislike? i always talk about hating ardyn but that’s because he’s just a salty bitch. as a character i think he’s a great villain and i rly love him. i honestly always end up liking everyone somehow, maybe there is someone i just forgot about but i cant remember at all.
Favorite genre?
adventure games, or action rpgs.
Video game character you’ve had a crush on?
every character ever, but i distinctly remember the moment i fell in love with prompto sjghfkshd i was watching a playthrough of xv in december 2016 because i didnt have a ps4, and the guy got to the scene in galdin quay where the bros learn insomnia fell. i had watched about 6 hours of the game by that time and wasn’t particularly interested in the characters but not uninterested enough to drop it. i hadnt even gotten a good look at the characters faces yet, so when the camera zoomed in on prompto when he said ‘’might not be save for us here!’’ i noticed he had freckles. oh god. oh fuck. oh my god hes fucking cute. oh my god better watch 30 hours of this game now
First video game you remember playing?
wayyy before i got my own gaming systems, my then-best friend had a gamecube in her attic. i was around 5 or 6 at the time. whenever i was over at her house and we didnt know what to do, she’d sometimes propose to play ‘’mario kart’’. important is that we are dutch, and i was a literal child. i thought mario KART meant it was a fucking card game, so i always declined whenever she asked. on one fateful day, i finally gave in and was pleasantly surprised it was in fact not a card game, but a viddy game. so we played mario kart double dash. (…i had never played a video game in my life besides browser flash games and was Very Very bad)
Age you started gaming?
so i played my first video game that i didnt own when i was about 5 or 6. then i got my first supply of games at age 7/8, but i dont really consider that time to be when i started ‘’gaming’’. i’d say that was when i started mario galaxy, so i’ve been playing video games for real (ie. story adventure games with boss battles) for about 6 years now.
Hardest video game you’ve played?
this is gonna sound stupid, but the witcher 3. there’s like 7 difficulties and i played on the EASIEST and still had a hard time, i just couldnt get used to the combat. i had the same problem with assassin’s creed syndicate, but after about 10 hours i actually knew what i was doing, and ive played the witcher longer than that and still am clueless. this is kind of an unpopular opinion but i dont particularly like that game
Video game you’ve spent the most time on?
i guess i am what you’d call a casual gamer; i really like video games but during a normal school week i only game for like 2-6 hours. most of the time i dont play for like 2 weeks if im busy. gaming has kind of taken over my life not because i play so much but because i get so emotionally invested lol i’m currently on summer break and even now im not playing a lot because of exhaustion and executive dysfunction. this derailed slightly but the game i’ve played the most despite my casual gamer status is …. … …. ffxv. surprise, right? the runner up is botw, but xv wins by a landslide. 630+ hours. botw is 350. my main save in ffxv is almost 200 hours i think. damn. i really managed to keep myself entertained with that game… (………i was thinking recently, since the loading screens in xv are so long, how much of this total amount was spent watching screens. i imagine it’s several hours, especially if you fast travel a lot.)
Most embarrassing gaming moment?
many moments in my gaming experience are embarrassing, but a more recent one: i was in xv’s postgame, beating some dungeons on my new save file. i had just finished daurell caverns and hadn’t saved in about 2 hours. (uh oh) i was driving around in the regalia type d and got to the big cliff near lestallum, and remembered someone made a gif of jumping in there so i wanted to try it too. i imagined the game would just put me back on the road, like it does when you crash into something. except it didnt. i got a game over. where was my last save? 2 hours back all the way in hammerhead. yippee.
Scariest video game you’ve played?
i never play horror games, cuz for me games are supposed to be relaxing experiences. no hate towards horror games of course, they just stress me out. the only time ive played horror is when friday the 13th was for free on ps+, and my friends really wanted to play it. (theyre kinda addicted to it now. huh) they had already gotten over the initial fear of having jason chase you, but i was still terrified. i can play the game without getting scared now tho. the horror sound effects just rly freaked me out at first jhsdkghsd
Most memorable gaming moment?
playing breath of the wild for the first time, or beating it for the first time. both experiences were filled to the brim with excitement and nostalgia. seeing botw as a blank slate, a world for you to explore, having no idea where you’re going… that was pretty incredible. now i know every nook and cranny of the map, so i wish i could play it for the first time again. i was so incredibly immersed. beating it was insane. i cried for 30 minutes and the end wasnt even sad, i was just so amazed at the fact that i was really here, playing breath of the wild, it was really real. the fucking main theme in the background (which i cannot for the life of me listen to without crying) didnt help with my emotions sgkdjh
Video game character you wish you could meet in real life?
…………..its prompto again. maybe 2017 me …. was .. kind of a kinnie
PC, Xbox, Playstation, or Nintendo?
i dont care about console wars at all, but i think hardware-wise, pc is the best, because if you have a good pc you can basically do anything. i however do not, so i just play on consoles. ive never particularly liked xbox, so i only play ps4 and nintendo. not the switch though. its kinda petty, but my best friend and i really dont like the switch djghks
Gaming company you’re most loyal to?
none. i used to call myself a nintendo nerd (oh my god…. i m. gonna die) in like 2015 but since the switch came out and since i got a ps4 they kinda lost me. i still like their game series of course, but as a company i don’t care for them. the only reason i see square enix as one of ‘’my’’ gaming companies is because ffxv took up like 70% of my gaming experience, but besides final fantasy i don’t really love them too much either.
If you could only play one video game for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
atm i’m really into ffxiv because theres just so much to do, but that’s just a new, possibly temporary interest. if i had to choose, i’d say botw. maybe i’d say ffxv, but i feel like running around doing nothing in that game isnt very fun, because the world is sorta empty after completing every quest and getting to level 120. in botw, just fucking around on your horse is still really relaxing and nice.
Do you use strategy guides?
yup. in certain games i try to avoid them but i usually end up stuck or in need of advice. i couldn’t have gotten so many p5 trophies if not for the internet lol
How often do you use cheats?
never, simply because the games i play often do not have cheats. unless im playing the sims and are in need of a motherlode, i dont use them.
Competitive or single player?
single player. im bad at video games and like to do stuff at my own pace. online multiplayer can be fun every now and then in games like mario kart 8 or splatoon, and i also like teamwork stuff like ffxiv or comrades. but ultimately, i prefer playing on my own.
Video game character you want to/have cosplayed?
have never cosplayed, dont have plans to either, but it would be fun to cosplay link. omg. i just remembered i have that fucking chocomoogle shirt… sorry link im gonna slap on some sasuke hair, black jeans and ugly sneakers
Ever go to a video game convention?
i have not, i have however gone to three (3) video game concerts which is basically the same thing.
Hardest boss fight you’ve been in?
the hardest bosses for me are usually the ones with a gimmick. you have to use a certain item or tactic to beat them or something. other hard fights for me are when you fight someone with a similar skill set. (in ffxv, this happens twice, once with the iggy-noct sparring match and once against ardyn. somehow, the final boss was easier than getting the prince to eat vegetables.) i don’t know an actual example of THE hardest boss fight ive been in though. at the time, the first bowser battle in mario galaxy was the hardest thing in the universe and i got stuck for like a month. currently, i’m having trouble with the riku-ansem fight in kh1.
Video game you wish you could burn from your memory?
the zelda cdi games? no, i dont really know. i dont hate a game so much that i’d want to forget about it altogether, but i dont exactly love ocarina of time that much. it hasnt aged well and playing it on the gamecube for the first time in 2015 wasnt a good idea. im sure it was revolutionary at the time, but i cant handle the outdated controls gsdgksjs
Favorite gaming series?
see, i love ffxv itself more than the entirety of the zelda series, but i dont love ff as a SERIES more than the zelda games. so if were talking series, zelda for sure. i fucking love those games and they mean a lot to me.
Do you skip tutorials, or find them useful?
i often skip them because i cant pay attention, but then find that i need them anyway. so i usually do skim through them.
Best online gaming experience?
one really good one happened a few days ago in ffxiv, some guy and i exchanged emotes for like 30 minutes and it ended with us becoming friends on psn :’) ppl dont usually emote back at me in that game so this was really wholesome and nice gjshksdj
Worst online gaming experience?
i dont really have a worst? theyre more annoying. think try harders in gta online killing you 15 times in a row because they want to show you how good they are or something. magically, online gaming hasnt been too hard on me (mainly because i dont game online that much)
Why do you game?
it brings me joy. it’s a fun way of relaxing, while being stimulated at the same time. games have meant a great deal to me the past 6 years and i wouldnt want to lose them for the world.
#uh. i really just spent and hour and a half writing this down but ya#i love ya video games#personal#long post#like. really long

mario kart
There’s a ton of Mario karts and I’ve played almost all of them so:
Super Mario Mart:
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
It’s fun and the split screen map is... interesting, the aesthetic is just really nostalgic and cute, it’s frustrating to go back and play now though. Also have the soundtrack stuck in my head all the time.
Mario kart 64:
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
Have a lot of fond memories of this game especially balloon battle, there were some fun tracks and it was charming, like the first game it’s weird going back and playing it as an adult though.
Double dash:
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
I really loved the two character dynamic, and it’s the one I played the most growing up and still love coming back to. A couple courses aren’t as good as I remember them but overall still a great game.
Never played the gba game
Mario kart ds:
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
This was my favorite for a long time because it had the missions mode, idk why but I really loved that aspect. I lost the card a while ago so I don’t know how it holds up today. It also has some of my favorite courses and introduced the different kart options.
Mario kart Wii:
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
I liked this game but I never put a ton of time into it, I’m not really sure why. I think this was the hardest game for me to get used to like most Wii games because they push the motion controls so much and I’m shit with them. Bikes are good though.
Mario kart 7:
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
Played this at college and I was honestly disappointed, I just didn’t have a ton of fun with it for some reason. I even unlocked everything and beat all the courses in different engine classes but i just couldn’t connect with it.
Mario kart 8:
never played | want to play | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
I don’t own this game but I’ve played with friends for hours and the switch version is definitely my favorite Mario kart, the new courses are really cool and the old ones have been updated without losing their charm, there’s a lot of kart and character options and the Dlc tracks are a blast because I’m “hey that’s link legend of Zelda” the whole time
(Send me games if u want)

10 random facts about me
I was asked by @majinpiccolo to come up with 10 random facts about me. I tried to think of interesting ones as well as some serious ones. Here we go!
1. I used to be a moderator for the Amino Dragon Ball Z app
If you’re not familiar with Amino, it’s basically if Reddit and Tumblr had a love child. You can only post about the Amino’s topic, (in this case, anything Dragon Ball related) and moderators can “pin posts” to the top of the app, meaning you can submit your blog/ artwork to be considered for feature. I moderated the app for almost 2 years. I absolutely loved the team I moderated with, but everything went to hell in a single day. Sparing the details, the level of toxicity which occurred was so bad the leader of the Amino left, and so did another person. And that made me realize I needed to stop too. Being a moderator means you’re constantly exposed to the worst of the internet. Unsolicited dick pics to minors in private chats, being called “bitch” because some person’s post got hidden, being accused of favoritism and the like. I thought that my leaving would be temporary, and maybe some day I’d go back but...I am free. My mental health is a lot better, lol.
2. I am a contract writer
Basically that means I write blogs for small business owners, do website copy (the text you read on a website) snazzy up people’s Linkedin profiles, and whatever else comes my way. The work is slow coming, but it frees me to....
3. I’m trying to write a science fiction novel
Honestly, it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, mostly because it’s a battle with myself. I am a perfectionist by nature and the standard I set for myself and my writing is unattainable. This week for instance, I was so overwhelmed by all the stuff I “need to fix” that I got nothing done, haha. But I really want to do this...it feels important. It’s been a dream I’ve had since I was little. And so, I keep trying to press forward, even when my mental days aren’t good.
4. When I was a child, my father was diagnosed with a fatal illness society considered taboo
Things are better now for him and society is getting better. But it was a huge burden that I carried, and I mostly carried it alone. I was genuinely afraid if I told my friends my dad was ill (as you couldn’t tell just by looking at him) they wouldn’t want to be around him or me. I didn’t want people to judge him. These days I try to talk about it more, but honestly it’s not something that naturally comes up in conversation. “Oh hey, for most of my childhood I thought my dad was going to die in a horrible way. It really screws with you.” Meds nowadays are much better too, so him dying is not a worry I currently have. He’s in no danger at the present :-) Having a sick parent does alter your life perspective though.
5. My parents are crazy people
Speaking of the rents, they are so...just on a whole other plane of existence that I’ve had SEVERAL people, in different situations all separately tell me I need to write a sit com based on them. Mom is a 100% NY Italian. Dad is 100% NY Puerto Rican. They are unreal. Case in point: one time I took my parents to the beach at night so they could experience a bio-luminescent phenomenon. At 11:30 PM we were walking off the beach and my mother says rather loudly to my father, (in a NY accent) “Well! That was just! I’m telling you, it was better than drugs. And trust me, I’ve taken them! Right babe?! Better than drugs!”
I normally need to sleep for several days after they’ve visited XD
6. I’ve got severe ADD
It’s gotten worse as I’ve gotten older too. Just recently my nephew was trying to get my attention to help him with his juice box and I had no idea. I realized it after his mom came over to fix it for him. It was rather embarrassing. Normally I’m so much in my brain I don’t see what’s around me. I’ve gotten several bruises from running into doors.
7. I’m married
And have been for quite some time. Me and the Mr were young when we got married. He proposed to me 6.5 months after we started dating and we got married 6 months after that. His parents, who are normal, respectable people, thought we were insane. My parents, who’ve I’ve already established as crazy, thought it was wonderfully romantic. In fact my father called me a month after we started dating to ask me to please let him know when the wedding was so he could be sure to buy a plane ticket. I was like, “Dad. We’re not THAT crazy.” We’ve had our challenges like everybody else, but we love being married and are ridiculously happy. Wouldn’t trade our decision for the world.
8. I love video games
Grew up on the SNES and N64, got back into them when I bought myself a Wii. Most time I’ve logged on a video game is for Star Wars: The Old Republic. It’s BioWare’s Star Wars version of World of Warcraft. I’ve got over 60 days of time played, and have been playing since 2013. There’s a new expansion coming in December. I’ll be playing.
9. If I’m listening to music, it’s probably an OST.
I just love OST’s. I think it’s because it lets my brain do it’s weird head in the clouds thing. If I’m not listening to an OST, it’s probably Asain Hip-Hop. Favorite artist is named Tiger JK and he does a lot of stuff with his wife Yoon Mi Rae. Sooo good.
10. I love Japan
I suppose that it’s no surprise but, it’s still the truth. I’ve been to Korea twice and Japan once. I feel really at home there, in a way I haven’t experienced in the couple other countries I’ve visited. The Japanese were so welcoming and so hospitable, I’ll never forget it. Would love to go back at some point.
And that’s a wrap. I now tag @yagamitaichi7! Got any rando facts to share? Only if you want to of course :-)

“the wind is screaming, it’s screaming your name; it sounds like fear.”
What is your opinion on sex without emotional commitment? nononononoNONONONO. Last time you puked from drinking? Never. What books, if any, have made you cry? Johnny Got His Gun, Old Yeller, The Outsiders (I think; I know the movie did), The Notebook, uhhh others, I'm sure. Does it get annoying when somebody says they’ll call you, but doesn’t? It depends on the person, but honestly, almost never. I hate talking on the phone. What is your favorite simple ice-cream flavor? Usually vanilla, but sometimes I'm all about chocolate, especially if I can't put chocolate syrup on it. When was the last time you slept on the floor? Jeez, probably when me and Jason did at my house. I've slept on an inflatable mattress since, but I'm guessing you mean literally on the floor with blankets and such. If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? I dunno. I doubt it really, but don't potatoes have all the nutrients you actually need to survive? If so, then probably that, but otherwise, uh. I dunno, I'd get tired of things or die 'cuz I'm not getting what I need. I could say shakes, but I consider those drinks. Have you ever given someone oral sex? Yeah, fucking hated it. I'm bi, yes, but visually, penises are disgusting to me. I don't want it in my mouth. I only ever really did it to make him happy. I'm open to trying it with a girl, but who knows if I'd like it. What's your favorite lyric from the last song you listened to? "Hey, hey, NRA, how many kids did you kill today?" I've fallen in love with Powerwolf recently and thus play a number of their songs repeatedly. How many bedrooms does your home have? Two. How many times do you use a bath towel before washing it? Once. Annoys the hell out of Mom but like, I feel like there may be leftover germs I'm getting off + maybe dead skin 'cuz my skin in dry as fuck??? What time do you usually eat dinner? My purple, black, and white Jack Skellington ones ahhh What’s your least favorite ice-cream flavor? Strawberry is disgusting. Do you prefer it when it gets darker earlier? NOOOOO. Mom has tons she never uses. Who are your godparents? I don't think I have any. Can you touch your nose with your tongue? No. What brand is your toothpaste? Crest. Are you currently broken out? Nah, not interested. Have you ever played Gamecube? No. What has been the biggest event for you to overcome? Recovery. It changed me for the better so much. Do you have a favorite pet? No one can beat Teddy. I doubt any pet ever will. When someone drops something do you immediately go and pick it up for them? If I’m close, unless they're already reaching for it, yes. If the remaining candidates don't fucking suck, yes. Tell me about someone that you know dislikes you. What do you think is about you they don’t like? The one person I know doesn't is my best friend's mom, but I can't tell you exactly why. There's no telling what Colleen told her after our fight, but. Colleen has told me her mom thinks I could "hurt" her son somehow. I was fucking livid. I adore that boy and would do anything to protect him. Oh yeah, know she mentioned I was a bad influence, too. But hey, the hate is mutual, I've never been able to stand her. Tell me about something you’re afraid of. Why does it frighten you? Getting heartbroken again. Last time tore me the fuck apart, I seriously don't know if I could do it again. Worst pain I have ever experienced. Is there someone you could hang out with all the time, without ever getting bored of them? Sara <3 Have you ever liked someone else when you already had a boyfriend/girlfriend? What happened? Would you mind dating someone significantly shorter than you? No. What’s on your bedside table? Yeesh, a lot. A fan, a basket with all my meds in it, sketchbook, notebook, my folder full of things from Holly Hill as well as my therapy homework folder. There's other miscellaneous stuff too. How much money would it take to get you to give up the Internet for one year? This is pathetic, but probably like... no amount. My life sadly revolves around it, just about. Hm. Dunno. Which hair color would you never want to have? Yellow. Who’s the last person you talked to about sex? Sara. What is the wallpaper on your phone? Top Ten Favourite Anime Games
For this list, I will only be including games that are specifically considered part of the anime genre, NOT games that were created by Japan Studio or other Japanese companies/creators. So games like shadow of the colossus, Bloodborne, Metal Gear, Resident Evil, etc., won’t be mentioned. While it is arguable that such games could fit the anime genre, it’s never been clarified. So here’s a list of my top 10 anime games.
1. Gravity Rush
There’s no real order for this list EXCEPT for Gravity Rush. It is easily my number one favourite pick. I bought it for next to nothing thinking it would be a cute little experience, but it ended up gripping my interest for four days straight; which is rare for me. While at work, all I could think about was getting back to it, and it’s one of the few games with trophies that didn’t annoy me. Seriously-- not one trophy pissed me off. In every game there’s at least two or three that really grind my gears, but Gravity Rush had nada.
There are several challenges in the game that are tough but fair, and they never become boring because they’re designed in such a way that the more you play them, the better you get. You begin to learn the controls, the landscape, the shortcuts, etc., which makes for some excellent gameplay. At no point in the game do you feel like a failure, which is nice once in a while. On top of that the story is fun, the characters are lovable, and the art is breathtaking. During each new chapter, we’re given information in the form of a hand-drawn manga, which only adds to the uniqueness. The language in the game is also made up, so anyone can relate to it. And the music? Oh, don’t even get me started:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxIC6Vu1ee0&t=43s
And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, they went ahead and created a sequel, Gravity Rush 2! It’s pretty rare, in my opinion anyway, that video games have sequels that measure up to their predecessor, but Gravity Rush 2 might be even better! It lets us revisit old friends, make new friends, explore more areas, it gives us grater challenges and a newly implemented difficulty setting, and additional online adventures that have nothing to do with achievements! What really hits me about these games, though, is the freedom. You get to fly wherever you want, anytime you want, at ridiculous speeds. The world is vast, beautiful, and so fun to navigate.
After playing and falling in love with these games, I can only assume they’re called “Gravity Rush” because they’re an absolute rush to play.
2. Devil May Cry
Specifically the first game, Devil May Cry will always have a special place in my heart. I played the game a lot when I was in grade school and kept replaying it well into my high school years. All the way up until my PS2 broke. :’)
Now, I do know that this game was created by Capcom and that it was supposed to be related to the Resident Evil franchise, but director Hideki Kamiya openly stated that the game is an anime-style hack and slash action-adventure game, and even gave the anime T.V. show, Devil May Cry: The Animated Series by Shin Itagaki, his professional seal of approval.
That said, Devil May Cry is addictive with its brutal but charming character Dante, and its dark and twisted plot/gameplay. If you’re into cool characters, blood and guts, and kick-ass combat, this is the game for you!
3. Catherine
Another nostalgic game for me, Catherine was something I played constantly when I was in high school. The animation is enticing, the story is a giant mind f*ck, and the English voice acting is stupendous. Like many story-related anime games, it has multiple endings, as well as a karma metre that wraps into your choices. The story revolves around a man named Vincent Brooks, who is beset by supernatural nightmares while torn between his feelings for longtime girlfriend Katherine and the similarly-named beauty Catherine.
While the game is mostly a platformer, the challenges are unreal, especially in Babel (an extra area not related to the story) and the arcade game, Rapunzel. If you want your brain to turn to mush, I’d suggest setting this baby to the hardest difficulty. Naturally there’s a trophy for beating everything with a gold time, so if you get that you’ll be able to gloat to all your friends about how smart you are. XD
Jokes aside, though, there are other aspects to the game that keep you going. You won’t get bored of the platforming because between each level is the story, given to us in two distinct anime styles, and a trip to the bar, where you can get drunk and interact with other characters. Depending on the dialogue you choose, you could be responsible for their dreams coming true ... or their untimely death. A remake of the game will be coming out for PS4 next year and I can’t wait to play it!
4. No More Heroes
No More Heroes is another action-adventure hack and slash video game that follows a man named Travis Touchdown ... who is a hardcore otaku. Literally all he cares about is killing and anime, which makes for a hilarious story. Travis is also a top-class assassin in a world where assassins constantly compete. Think John Wick: The Anime. This game is full of comedy and combat, as well as cool characters, crude challenges, and a cuddly kitty cat. I played this game religiously when I was in high school, and enjoyed it even up to it’s weird mind f*ck of an ending. The only downside being that it’s only available on Wii, which made for an interesting and unique experience, but a sad realisation that it will never be available for any other platform.
5. Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Just like No More Heroes, Trauma Center: Second Opinion is only available on Wii; but that in no way affected my love for it. Second Opinion is the second game in a long line of Trauma Centers, but for some reason it’s the only one I enjoy. Perhaps it’s because playing it on the Wii gave it a sense of realism. The game is a surgery simulator, and like an actual surgeon, you have to concentrate and keep your hands steady to succeed. If you move too quickly or throw yourself off balance, the patient will die. The art and music are also incredible and, believe it or not, there’s actually a pretty interesting story that goes along with each chapter. As you work your way to more advanced operations, you really take a liking to the characters and feel a strong sense of duty to your patients. To anyone who owns a Wii, this is definitely a game I’d recommend.
6. Chibi-Robo!
Chibi-Robo! This game takes me back! I spent hours upon hours playing this game, and I still would today if my copy hadn’t been stolen. This little treat is only available on the Wii and GameCube, and was created by Nintendo. It’s one of the most adorable platform-adventure games I’ve ever played to date. The Wiki explains the plot perfectly, so I’ll just post it here:
“Chibi-Robo! takes place in a 1960s-style American home and revolves around a tiny, highly advanced robot of the same name. He is given as a birthday gift to a socially withdrawn eight-year-old named Jenny Sanderson by her father. This is much to the dismay of Jenny's mother, a homemaker who is constantly stressed over how much money her husband spends on toys despite his unemployment.”
For a game that seems so basic, there are a plethora of areas to explore and they are huge. Ironically so, I’m sure, but it makes for some amazing gameplay nonetheless. As you wander, you help other creatures around the house, including the family, solve their problems and complete challenging and often comedic tasks; such as flipping burgers, cleaning up puddles, and-- you know-- helping the egg general save his fellow egg soldiers from the household dog. Yeah, stuff like that. XD
Honestly, it’s super fun and I recommend it to anyone, no matter what their age. It’s clearly geared towards children, but I can’t think of a single reason why an adult wouldn’t enjoy it just as much. It’s relaxing, freeing, and puts a genuine smile on your face. :)
7. Pokemon X and Y
Okay, I know I probably shouldn’t add Pokemon to this list, but I can’t help it! I’ve always loved the Pokemon games, but they just get better and better every time! Pokemon X and Y quickly became favourites of mine, and they consumed my life for a good two months as I captured every single Pokemon, bred the perfect IVs, and worked my ass off to get every shiny I desired. On top of that, I loved the story and, for once, how my character design turned out. What’s more, I fell absolutely in love with the Looker side quest, which is possibly the best and most emotional side quest I’ve ever played in a Pokemon game. X and Y will always be special to me, because in was with these two games that I caught ‘em all!
8. Pokemon Sun and Moon
Visually, Pokemon Sun and Moon are the best of the Pokemon games, in my opinion. They were also the first to really shake things up and give fans new and improved methods of breeding, capture, travel, communication, and more. We were also introduced to a new type of pokemon called “ultra beasts”, along with a fun and alluring story with several new characters and legendaries. Throughout the game, I found myself laughing hard at some of the experiences, and I spent countless hours capturing, trading, breeding, spoiling, and loving all of the new pokemon the games had to offer. I even transferred my pokemon from X and Y over so I could give them the same love and affection. ^_^
I have to thank @cassafra5 and @george-nordington, because they’re the ones who bought me this masterpiece! Thanks, guys! <3
9. .hack//OUTBREAK
This is a game that will always be near and dear to my heart. Back before guides were widely available, I was playing a game called .Hack//OUTBREAK. It came out in 2002, when I was only 12 years old. Back then, my dad was still alive. He never really understood my taste in anime, but he wanted to try and relate, so he bought this game for me on a whim. Little did he know I knew absolutely nothing about the .Hack series, and little did either of us know that OUTBREAK was actually the third part to two other .Hack games. Still, I didn’t want to hurt his feelings, so I played the game-- and I fell in love.
Visually, OUTBREAK was one of the best games I owned on PS2, and although parts of the story were difficult to follow, I was hooked. I dedicated entire days to this game, and because there weren’t any guides, I had to write down every code and location so I wouldn’t get lost/forget them. Today, I still have pages folded safely in the case. The amount of exploration and character interaction opened me up to a whole new genre of video games. In fact, it basically introduced me to anime-style games. I could actually buy gifts for my friends and build relationships. That seems common now, but back then it wasn’t for a typical PS2 game.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck when the save cartridge was accidentally kicked by my brother and all of my data was lost. I wasn’t too concerned, since I figured I could just replay the game and get everything back ... but the disk was also severely, irreparably scratched. It no longer plays. As such, it is now merely a keepsake from my father. I miss you, dad.
But 16 years later and my sister and I are still quoting this game! XD @alannahkiwi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I-7hwgwqa4
10. Persona 5
I only recently started playing Persona 5, but it’s quickly made its way to my top ten. I can’t say too much about it just yet, aside from the fact that the animation is crisp, the story is gripping, and I’m ready to sink hours of my life into platinuming this gorgeous feet of human achievement! So much heart and sole was poured into this game and it shows with every in-game step I take. This is the only game on this list that I haven’t yet finished, but I have a sense that I don’t really need to. Thus far, every mission has been a gem and I don’t want the party to end!

Every Nintendo Console Ranked From Worst to Best
https://ift.tt/3tsRYCX
There are some who believe that the best Nintendo console ever is the first one you owned. It’s an idea that speaks to the mark Nintendo has left on the industry and how you feel the first time you experience the latest entries in one of their classic franchises. Your first Nintendo console truly is something special.
With that out of the way, let’s talk about which Nintendo console is actually the best. No, there’s no way to convince everyone that one Nintendo console is actually better than the rest, but we’re looking back at Nintendo’s history of both home and handheld console releases (minus some peripherals like the Game & Watch) to give a little love to your first Nintendo console (whatever it may have been) and also talk about the Virtual Boy.
While this ranking was heavily based on the quality of each console’s games (which is arguably a device’s most important factor in terms of its legacy), any potential ties were broken by hardware quality, longevity, and intangible features that elevated one console over another.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
13. Nintendo Virtual Boy
Well, let’s get this out the way, shall we?
You have to give Nintendo credit for trying to make virtual reality happen in the ‘90s, but even if you accept that this console’s VR capabilities were always going to be limited (even for the time, much less compared to modern VR headsets), everything else about this device was a disaster. Its few “okay” games barely utilized its VR technology, and those games ambitious enough to explore that possibility were quite literally painful to play. It was also expensive enough to ensure that few people actually owned one, which was really for the best.
More importantly, the Virtual Boy is the one Nintendo console that doesn’t seem to generate any nostalgia beyond being a relic of a specific time. Much like the Ark of the Covenant, though, this relic could burn a hole through your eyes if you looked at it for too long.
12. Nintendo Wii U
If it wasn’t for the Virtual Boy, it would be incredibly easy to name the Wii U the worst Nintendo console of all-time.
Right down to its name, the Wii U always felt like Nintendo’s half-hearted attempt to answer the question “What comes after the historically successful Nintendo Wii?” The idea of making a home console slightly more portable was a good one (just look at the Switch), but the actual Wii U tablet was a terribly designed peripheral that was often tough to enjoy even when you found a non-Nintendo developer that bothered to properly use it in the first place.
Yes, the Wii U had some truly incredible exclusives, but the fact that Nintendo couldn’t wait to port most of them to the Switch really tells you all you need to know about this console’s fundamental design failures.
11. Game Boy Color
Despite its place on this list, I’d actually say this is the point when we’ll start talking about Nintendo devices that were at least worth owning. Actually, you probably either owned a Game Boy Color or you probably wished you could convince your parents to buy one.
So why is it so low? Much like the Wii U, the biggest problem here is that Nintendo and its development partners failed to really properly utilize the device’s core feature often enough. The list of true Game Boy Color exclusives is relatively small, meaning that many of us ended up using the Game Boy color to slightly enhance Game Boy games.
While that’s not necessarily a bad thing given the quality of the Game Boy library, the Game Boy Color still feels like a missed opportunity that ultimately bridged two more notable handheld releases.
10. Game Boy Advance
It’s hard to fault anyone who thinks about really bad lighting whenever they try to remember their time with the Game Boy Advance. Nintendo eventually corrected that issue with the Game Boy Advance SP, but you have to wonder what could have been had the GBA hardware been ready for primetime (or, more accurately, bright daylight) when it was released.
Of course, a big part of the reason why people wanted to be able to see the GBA screen a bit better was that the GBA had so many great games. The GBA could have justified its existence if it was just a portable SNES (which it sometimes was), but here was a device that strangely inspired some of the industry’s best developers to really push the limits of handheld game design and start to explore what was possible.
Honestly, you could probably swap the Game Boy Advance and the next entry on this list depending on what mood you’re in, but the Game Boy Advance’s surprisingly short lifespan ends up being the fact that earns it a slightly lower spot.
9. Nintendo 3DS
Ranking the Nintendo 3DS is difficult if for no other reason that than the fact it took a while for Nintendo to get the hardware right. Even then, the Nintendo 2DS is still one of the oddest pieces of strangely bitter “budget” device design this side of Apple. There’s also the matter of the handheld’s 3D technology which proved to be such a mixed bag that it’s honestly hard to blame anyone who never bothered to use it.
However, the 3DS’ game library is simply one of the best in Nintendo handheld history. The 3DS boasts some of the best Pokemon, Zelda, Metroid, and Animal Crossing games ever, as well as a surprisingly strong lineup of third-party titles.
It’s always been a little annoying that it’s so easy to recommend 3DS games but it’s been historically difficult to recommend the 3DS hardware itself. Still, Nintendo did eventually right this ship somewhat, which is more than you can say about some of their other devices.
8. Nintendo Wii
There are times when it feels like the Nintendo Wii was a fever dream. Remember when we were playing motion controlled bowling with our grandmas as we both marveled at the realization that we were indeed in the future? What a wonderfully weird few years that was.
That’s the thing about the Nintendo Wii. No, it’s motion controls weren’t always the best in retrospect, and yes, many of its games were sometimes too dependent on those controls, but the fact of the matter is that it’s hard to replace the memories that the Nintendo Wii gave us.
You don’t need to put your rose tinted glasses on too tightly to look back fondly on the Nintendo Wii, but the console does start to fall apart just a bit the more critically you look at it.
7. Nintendo GameCube
You know, we can actually save a little time talking about the GameCube’s failures as we previously took an extensive look at the console’s shortcomings in an article focused on how the GameCube made Nintendo a little cynical. Check it out if you want to be reminded of the many ways this was not a perfect console.
Then there’s the other side of the GameCube argument, which largely focuses on the fact that the GameCube’s library features one of the best collections of exclusive titles in gaming history. I mean, this is the console that gave us both Resident Evil 4 and Animal Crossing. This is the console that brilliantly reimagined the Metroid franchise and proved that Super Smash Bros. was so much more than a gimmick.
The GameCube’s shortcomings have always been easy to focus on simply because it’s hard not to imagine what this console could have been if just a couple of the more obvious flaws had been addressed.

6. Nintendo 64
If you put the PlayStation’s best 100 games next to the N64’s best 100 games, the PlayStation would probably look like the better console. If you stack the PlayStation’s top 10 games against the N64’s top 10 games, though, then the conversation becomes much more complicated.
That’s the thing about the N64. While it reminds us of a generation when Nintendo started to lose some of their third-party support, that’s hard to focus on for too long when you realize that the N64’s best games were essential parts of their era. Can you imagine a world without Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time or going through the ‘90s without experiencing a proper GoldenEye 007 all-nighter?
Actually, in retrospect, the thing that puts the N64 over-the-top from a historical perspective is its status as arguably the best local multiplayer console ever. The industry changed shortly thereafter, and it’s always been a shame that more modern developers don’t recognize what makes the local multiplayer experience so much more than the predecessor to online play. If it weren’t for the console’s controller and a few missing/weird features, this one could rank even higher.
5. Nintendo Switch
It’s tempting to just leave the Nintendo Switch off this list for the simple fact that the console’s story is far from done. Yet, it’s a testament to the Switch’s run so far that it could pretty much fall flat on its face from here on out and still arguably rank relatively high on this list.
The thing about the Nintendo Switch’s gimmick is that it’s not really a gimmick. Instead, Nintendo simply recognized that the time had finally come to merge handheld and console gaming in a way that we used to only dream about. While the Switch’s portability is obviously one of its best features, what makes the console work is the fact that you could leave it plugged into your TV until the end of time and never feel like you’re somehow missing out on the way you “should be” using the device.
It’s honestly hard to imagine how Nintendo ever releases another console that doesn’t at least somewhat emulate the Switch’s design. Oh, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that the Switch’s library has been largely stellar so far.
4. Nintendo Game Boy
It’s easy enough to forget just how bad most handheld gaming consoles released before the Game Boy were and, for that matter, how bad many of the handheld gaming consoles that followed the Game Boy ended up being. We’ve often been willing to settle for less to play games on the go, but the Game Boy truly spoiled us.
Years later, it’s clear that the “secret” to the Game Boy’s success was the way Nintendo set a clear precedent that portable games would no longer just be lesser console games. The Game Boy occasionally dove into those waters, but many of the device’s best games felt like the kind of titles that wouldn’t have found a home on any other platform despite clearly being worthwhile (often great) experiences.
At a time when so many people still play games on mobile devices that too often boil titles down to their simplest forms, the ambitious Game Boy is more impressive than ever.
3. Nintendo DS
The Nintendo DS is another one of those Nintendo devices that can justify its high ranking on the basis of its library alone, but the thing that I don’t think gets talked about enough when we’re discussing the legacy of the DS are its touch screen features.
At a time when the idea of touch screen gaming felt closer to a novelty, the DS treated the concept with a sense of joy that perfectly captured the thrill many of us felt when we realized that were able to control games in such a futuristic way. We said something similar about the Wii, but years later, there are DS games that make better use of touch controls than even modern smartphone titles.
The DS could have “just” been another Game Boy, and it would likely still be fondly remembered. What elevates it are the ways that it so perfectly showcases the benefits of Nintendo’s outside the box thinking.
2. Nintendo Entertainment System
You know, I’m pretty sure that everyone I knew who owned an NES eventually saw the console “fail” at some point. From broken loading trays to dusty cartridges, the NES may have been one of Nintendo’s least reliable consoles from a hardware perspective.
Like the old sports car that breaks down so often that you learn to love fixing it, though, the memories the NES gave a generation of gamers were certainly worth the trouble. Yes, the NES’ library is impressive, but what’s really impressive is how so many NES games are still playable to this day. Some of them are still seen as the gold standard in their particular genres.
You can debate which console was the best in any given generation, but it’s hard to imagine being a young gamer of a certain era and not having an NES in the house.
1. Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Incredibly, there was a time when parents everywhere were convinced that the Super Nintendo was some kind of scam. After all, we already owned a Nintendo. Why would they ever spend a couple hundred dollars on another one?
Kids everywhere quickly figured out the answer to that question. Unlike other console follow-ups from previous generations that offered diminishing returns in order to score quick bucks, Nintendo built the SNES to prove to all the doubters that this really was the future of gaming and that the SNES was going open doors that many of us never even knew were there.
As you’ve probably already guessed, though, the SNES spot at the top of this list was secured by the quality of the console’s games. With help from some of the greatest studios ever working at the top of their games (as well as more than a few notable contributions of their own design), Nintendo assembled a library of SNES classics that may never be topped in terms of quality, innovations, and diversity. This is truly the best Nintendo console ever.

1. Favourite game from the last 5 years?
I don’t know whether this refers to games released after 2013, or games I’ve played for the last 5 years. If the former, then it’s Overwatch, if the latter, SWTOR.
2. Most nostalgic game?
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, hands down. Shoutout to Lineage 2 and WoW though, MASSIVE nostalgia goldmines.
3. Game that deserves a sequel?
How about that TimeSplitters 4??
4. Game that deserves a remaster?
Honestly don’t know. Can I submit the entire Mass Effect trilogy for this? Like maybe in 10-20 years when we’ve got cool new technology. Phantasy Star Online could potentially make for an amazing remake.
5. Favourite game series?
Hmm... A few years back I absolutely loved keeping up with everything Mass Effect and Gears of War. Now I don’t really get into a lot of series the same way.
6. Favourite genre?
Probably RPGs, including MMORPGs.
7. Least favourite genre?
Sports stuff.
8. Favourite song from a game?
Oh god oh dear there are SO MANY. I have favourites within games, can’t pick like one overarching fave. So I’m going to submit the entire The Last Remnant soundtrack because I think not a lot of people have heard of it and it’s awesome and should be heard.
9. Favourite character from a game?
Again, I can’t pick a single favourite. There are too many. But for the purpose of not giving a disappointing answer I’ll mention that (female) Commander Shepard was very important to me when I was like 17-20.
10. Favourite ship from a game?
I enjoy a lot of the Bioware romances. Again, picking a favourite is the worst. But some highlights include romancing Kaidan in ME, also Theron in SWTOR. Also whatever’s going on between the Imperial Agent and Hunter because I love me that fucked up shit. Essentially I love OCs x whoever the fuck.
11. Favourite voice actor from a game?
I’m partial to Bertie Carvel, also very impressed by the noises that Fred Tatasciore makes, but honestly there are so many talented people out there and I love them.
12. Favourite cutscene?
There are a lot of cutscenes I’ve loved throughout the years, like the ending in OoT and several emotionally taxing ones in the ME trilogy etc. There are also a lot I enjoy from SWTOR, especially in KotFE and KotET because they stepped up their cinematography and I enjoy that.
13. Favourite boss?
Oh man, hmmMMM... I think the most fun I’ve had was fighting the ludicrously difficult bosses when playing Tales of Symphonia on the hardest difficulty with friends as a kid. In general I love playing on the hardest difficulty and challenging myself through excruciatingly difficult gameplay (which means a lot of dying and swearing and crying as I try again and again), like spending hours and hours beating the hardest boss battles in the Last Remnant because I’m a fucking masochist.
14. First console?
I think it was a good old NES.
15. Current console or consoles?
I have an Xbox 360 that we nowadays only ever use to challenge each other to Peggle duels.
16. Console you want?
A Nintendo Switch. I would love to play the new Zelda and also Mario. Oh and Smash Bros. I grew up on Nintendo, then stopped buying consoles after making the switch from Wii to Xbox 360 many years ago.
17. Place from a game that you’d like to visit?
I’d like to visit a lot of the fantasy environments from the games I’ve played. But I think the most concrete answer I can give is anywhere in Mass Effect because it’s in the future with dope-ass technology and also hot aliens.
18. Place from a game that you’d like to live in?
I guess see above?
19. Ridiculous crossover that would never happen but would be super fun?
SWTOR + Some Dating Sim.
20. Book that would make a good game?
21. Show/Movie that would make a good game?
PACIFIC RIM?? I mean even as a plain-ass smashy action game it’d be fun to stomp around and wrestle huge aliens. Obviously with its own character creator and build-your-Jaeger feature. Build-a-Kaiju and then fight each other? Hell yeah. Imagine if it were an online MMORPG-type thing where you have to team up world-wide and fight real-time waves of Kaiju or they’ll take over parts of the world map. Sort of like PlanetSide 2 but Kaiju vs Humanity instead of a 3-way fight.
22. Games you want to play?
Like I mentioned above, the new Zelda and Mario games. But honestly I’m super terrible at playing new games, I just get so into my current ones that I have no interest in branching out most of the time. Give me a few years to get bored of SWTOR, the Sims, Overwatch and Minecraft and I’ll get back to you.
23. Have you gotten 100% completion in a game?
Oh yes. It’s like a compulsion. It’s even worse if I’m playing a co-op game with my brother because he’s the same and we WILL obsess over 100%ing stuff, probably while on the hardest difficulty because we enjoy suffering.
24. Have you cried over a game?
Are you joking, I’m a huge crybaby, I will cry at every emotional moment given that I’m invested enough. I downright sobbed like a baby and had to put my controller down at a character death right in front of @bionitelke once lmao,
25. What power-up or ability would you want IRL?
Yeah okay having The Force would be pretty awesome. But really any type of magic would rule, especially healing spells.
#meme thing#about me#long post#sorry for being so unspecific with some favourites#I can't think past my own field of vision right now
