Makhali would put the mad in mad engineer. Her usual solution to Allagan tech related woes is percussive maintenance, and she doesn't generally do more beyond that besides bringing the malfunctioning node to one of her engineer friends and giving them sad puppy dog eyes to fix it. I'll give her a 4 for spirit, but her lack of knowledge would make anyone with even a passing understanding of mechanical engineering cringe. The scrolling pages of error text make her eyes glaze over, the poor thing.

In a more modern education system, my first thought is physical education, since she's very much in tune with how her body moves and is very athletic. If we're only talking about more mental fields, I can definitely see her being in botany or biology. She doesn't have the greatest memory, but she has a talent for animal care and growing plants that would translate well to a field position. I think she would enjoy integrating the newest technological advances to her work, like she'd be the kind of person with a greenhouse filled to the brim with sensors and automatic watering cycles. Her plant talent is relatively unknown, even by her friends, and is mostly on display in her house in Gridania - like in her bath!
