once again thinking about the romans when they founded caesaraugusta... their plumbing was made of lead (toxic for humans) but there was SO MUCH lime content in the water that it completely covered the plumbing, making the water safe to drink...

#honestly crazy. like i went to the roman forum museum a few months ago and i read abt that and it made me go wild tbh #also up until a few decades ago houses had to have these specific filters made from some type of ceramic i believe #that was very porous and the lime would stay in there and the water would very slowly drip into the house's water deposit #the ceramic filter was very fragile too and ive heard it had to be replaced quite often #z xarre
