I’ve been told that one of the first times I fucked someone it is generally considered pretty wild. I don’t get it. What’s so wild about getting fucked in a church parking lot in your then boyfriend’s 2006 Honda civic?

One time my mom took me to a hibachi grill with a bunch of her friends and if you've never been to a hibachi grill basically the draw is that theres a bunch of interactive performance stuff done by the cook who cooks for you at your table, and one of the tricks they did at this one was take a squeeze bottle full of liquor and shoot it into your mouth across the table (with permission)

And now at our table my mom explained this because it was my first time going, and she wanted to make sure to warn me it was liquor because she knows I don't drink- she just said "if he offers to shoot at your mouth, say no because it's alcohol".

And so the chef does his thing and it's all very impressive, but the time does come where he pulls out this squeeze bottle of booze and asks me if I wanna try

I of course say no, because I really don't do alcohol, so he moves on to someone else

And I watch, and slowly come to understand that this is some sort of game, because once someone is drinking from the continuous flow the chef starts counting "ONE! TWO! THREE!"

I realize that we're trying to see who can keep drinking the liquor from three feet away without choking or spilling, and its a bummer cause i kinda wanna try and I CAN'T

But he goes around the table with everyone there, and I think my mom makes it to three, one friend makes it to five, I think my brother got to three as well, and he comes back to me

And I'm REALLY bummed out now but I will not drink alcohol, so I sort of sadly repeat that I can't when he pulls out a SECOND BOTTLE and grins and goes "juice?"

And Im like FUCK YEAH LET'S GO and I'm a bit worried he's gonna spray it into my eye or something but he doesn't, it hits me right at the back of the throat, and I start drinking while the whole fucking table counts "ONE! TWO! THREE!"

And like

It just sorta

And Im looking at the chef and he starts freaking out by the time we get to six, and at around seven I kinda start looking around and my auntie is staring back in shock, my brother is laughing his ass off and my mom has her face in her hands

And then at like nine or ten it gets like. Super tense and quiet, and only the chef is still counting

And I guess it got too much for even him cause we're at eleven and I don't believe in quitting early and it is almost painful how awkward it's getting

So he cuts me off at twelve and raises his hands in the air and everyone else cheers and claps like a dumb movie

and I just sit back in my seat to look back at my mother staring at me surrounded by everyone she knows, bright fucking red in the face and choking with honest to god tears in her eyes and she puts her face back in her palms and starts chanting "I don't want to know. I don't want to know. I don't want to know"

So I give her the biggest, proudest grin and tell her, "I won."

So now every time something suggestive happens in a movie, or in conversation, or something shocking happens around us and she goes to jokingly cover my ears, I just ask her, "Remember when I won?" And she goes face-down and groans, because I know EXACTLY how she thinks I trained to develop that particular skill and she HATES knowing that about me

The truth is though, I'm a whole ass 28 year old virgin. I've never so much as kissed anyone in my life. I had no idea I could do that trick until that exact moment

But she doesn't know that, and I'm never gonna tell her

Visiting Paul wasn't the sanest thing you did - and not the proudest of your moments, too. Your relationships started to crack a while ago, not helped by the rumors his squad buddies are spreading whenever you're in the earshot or Facetiming him. You just wanted to give him a visit, maybe woo him over with some homemade goods, and maybe be a normal boyfriend and girlfriend again. Maybe. You didn't expect his colonel to give you such a scolding. "You know that poisoning the troops is a war crime, ja?" You're terrified. His colonel is fucking huge, has a creepy name - seriously, what did he do to be named King instead of Potato or a Shrimp - and has that weird boyishly rough voice that lools you into the sense of security, only for it to be broken the second he laughs, tearing into the dumb box filled with dumb cookies you made for Paul and some of his squadmates. You had friends at his station, you thought you could just get in without the bureaucracy bullshit - only closest family members are allowed here, and you are quite certain that your boyfriend won't wife you up anytime soon. "It's not poison, s...sir" "I look like a sir to you, Maus? Call me colonel" You want to answer that he looks like a fucking nightmare crawling out of your bad dreams, but you bite your tongue. Don't even resist as Konig gets his huge gloved hands into the box, slowly taking one of the cookies. You whimper as he snaps the thing in half - hours of hard work, you can already see them being trashed away all because Paul didn't respond to your calls and didn't pick them up immediately and because he didn't mention his colonel is going to be on the base and- Konig gets one of your cookies under his hood, the sounds of munching like music to your ears - an angel's horn, maybe, the ones that play during the apocalypse. You wait patiently to be prosecuted for your crimes - the ones you aren't quite sure you even committed, to be honest. "You'll do. Horangi will show you to my quarters." You think you're hearing things. Maybe, you somehow managed to hit your head on the way to the colonel's office, and now you're hallucinating the entire encounter? The colonel stands up - he is huge, god, too fucking tall to even be alive, you think - and drops a heavy hand on your shoulder, patting you almost awkwardly. You hate the way he looks at you right now - almost soft, almost gentle, his hand squeezes your skin in a way that is way more loving than your boyfriend ever did before, and you feel pathetic for leaning into the touch, if only for a second. You didn't know that Konig got his eye on you even before you went to the base. He knows a lot about his soldiers, and your sorry fuck of a boyfriend clearly didn't deserve a sweet little thing like you - for fucks's sake, you literally just brought homemade cookies to the military base; how much more of an angel you can be. He also knew that you're not quite satisfied with the relationships if he can judge by how much bitching Paul is letting out during his free time. Konig also knows that if he gets you to marry him as soon as possible, sooner he could put you in his house and make you bake him cookies every day of his retirement - that doesn't seem like such a bad opportunity now, not if he would have a pretty housewife attached to his hip. And if you don't really want to be with him, well... Nothing that a few weeks of extensive home training couldn't fix.

it was the hungarian gp. you were in the mclaren hospitality. the mclaren kitchen was quite big, and your co-workers were extremely sweet. you mainly cooked for the drivers and mechanics, while guiding the others. you were tasting a dish when you feel a presence behind you. you immediately recognise who it is.

"what is it now, lando?" you ask with a knowing smile on your face. he sits down on the counter beside you and watches you as you work. "i was wondering if you would like to, maybe, just maybe, come outside with me and sit down and talk and get some food you know?" he blabbers

"are you asking me out on a date?" you tease him. "well, yeah. only if you want it to be. its okay if you say no" he says with a sad smile on his face. you cup his face with one of your hands and give his cheeks a squeeze. "ofcourse i'll come, dumbass. now shoo, let me work. you're too distracting"

the smug smile he has on his face makes you blush. "so i am distracting huh? what else am i? you can give me details when we go on that date" he winks at you and walks off. you just simply shake your head in amusement.

the date goes well. to be honest, more than well. you both have the most fun ever. lando is everything that you craved. he was the sweetest boy. day by day, meal by meal, both of you started talking more, discovering each other. one fine night, in his apartment in london, where you taught him how to bake his favourite cake, he surprises you by asking you to be his girlfriend. you say yes without hesitation. you knew he wasn't going to play around with your heart.

it was the brazilian gp. lando had placed P2 again! you were the proudest girlfriend to exist, and the happiest. you were just so incredibly proud as he was doing so good this year.

What inspired you to make hi fi rush overdrive?

the short answer: catastrophic levels of hyperfixation and an equal amount of hubris. this comic is a cry for help /j

the long answer: i really freakin like this game and wanted to create something tangible to show my love for it.

hi-fi rush is one of those games that completely captivated me in a way that most other media doesn't. everything about it was absolutely charming from start to finish and it altered my way of viewing art in a way only one other series has done for me before (mob psycho 100, if anybody's curious). it singlehandedly pulled me out of art block and for the first time in a while, it inspired me to want to do more with my art than what i'd previously done.

i guess in a sense, i'd been wanting to challenge myself to make something bigger for a while, and HFR just kinda waltzed into my life at just the right time. the sequel potential for this game is absolutely INSANE and i really wanted to take a crack at my interpretation of a hypothetical "Hi-Fi Rush 2" while we all waited for the real thing to come along (that original motive's obviously dead in the water now, fuck microsoft etc. etc.)

at first, overdrive was just a lot of "lmao wouldn't it be funny if ___" discussion in discord with my friends, and for a while i was happy with just leaving it at that. but time went on and more and more things started falling into place and suddenly i'm sitting in front of my pc at 3 in the morning staring at a bunch of character design drafts and 80+ pages of script and counting. i kinda just blinked and it manifested into existence LMAO

needless to say it's been a really fun journey so far, i've grown so much as an artist in the past few months of working on this alone and i'm learning by leaps and bounds with basically every page i finish. this is my very first webcomic (and honestly comic in general, i've only ever done illustration up til now) and it's 1000% me biting off way more than i can probably chew, but i adore this game and this community and i want to continue doing my part to contribute to the fanbase and keep the love for HFR alive. the story that's taken form in my notes is honest to god one of my proudest works and i'm really excited to get it out there to share with yall :)

Whumptober 2024: Day 1 - Public Torture

We are BACK gang, yet another year of @ailesswhumptober with yours truly! This blog is just the Whumptober blog now to be honest.

They were divine, once. A god. A King. A leader. They owned the city, their beloved arcadia, and so, they owned the world.

But now, they are a far cry from such things. They are on their knees, their hands tied behind their back, head held up so that they can see the once-adoring crowds that now bark and cheer for their blood.

It starts simple. A single feather, ripped from their pristine white wings. And then another. And another. Little pinpricks of pain as each feather is plucked.

From single feathers to handfuls at a time. As much as they struggle and squirm, they can not stop the torment. Fistful after fistful, their proudest feature litters the ground.

They are shaking, unable to see the carnage behind them but being able to feel the blood oozing from the holes in their wings. Another fistful of feathers, and they bite their tongue.

They will not give these usurpers, these mavericks, the satisfaction of hearing them scream or seeing them cry. They will remain stoic through the pain, as is expected of a leader.

One of their wings, featherless and raw, is spread out for the crowd to see. They hiss through their teeth as their muscles groan in pain.

Of course. All pretense of being stoic goes out the window, the moment a blade touches their wing. A biting pain that causes them to yelp, struggling enough to flip themselves over.

On their back, hands tied, trying to kick at their attacker while the crowd behind them roars.

yes!!! oh my god i love responding to comments as much as i love leaving comments myself!!!

the only thing with this is that i do find myself forgetting to actually put time aside in my day to do it!!! so sometimes, about two weeks after i read a comment and internally squealed about it, i'll go "oh FUCK i didn't reply that comment" and sprint to my laptop

so, uh, if you've ever received a late comment reply from me? now you know why lmao

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

oh god um. none of them? i guess the one abandoned fic on my ao3 account (a she-ra fic from 2018 lmao) has the angstiest ending by virtue of the fic not being finished and no resolution being reached lmao

but genuinely i don't think i could ever write a fic with an angsty ending!!! i think at best i could plot an angty ending??? or maybe write a drabble or something??? but honestly, i really struggle reading angsty endings so it would be a rogue move to write one lmao

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

ooooooo excellent question

honestly any of my finished F1 fics probably work but i think i'll go with you must like me for me! truly one of my favourite brands of happy ending is a reciprocated love confession and (not to spoil the fic lmao) that might be one of my favourite ones i've ever done!

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

oooo once upon a time i received a comment on that musicals fic, who actually texts people this much, that was fairly harsh on the writing??? the worst part was enough time had passed since i'd written the fic and i'd honestly reached the part of the writing cycle where i hated everything about it so i almost agreed with the commenter lmao

even today, i think the critique was accurate! but perhaps not a polite/kind thing to comment on someone's fic lmao

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i'm trying to!!! i haven't posted any yet

i am terrible at describing things (including like. physical movement) so, so far, any smut i've attempted to write has been fairly dialogue-heavy!!! but honestly that's generally my taste in smut so i think this tracks

that musicals texting fic has been translated somewhere on the internet! one of my friends in uni dug it up lmao

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

never co-written before! i am a huge fan of brainstorming fics with my friends though! either their fics or mine - i just love the collaboration of it all!!!

What's your all-time favorite ship?

god this is difficult!!! my taste in ships moves around all the time to be honest

ok for F1, it's fairly easy - landoscar do unfortunately possess my entire heart and there is very little i can do about that lmao

other than that? i do have to mention how much i still adore the les mis pairing enjolras/grantaire because i did spend a good portion of my teenage years thinking about them and only them lmao

and i spent many a year in steve/bucky from the mcu hell so i guess it's important that that goes on here too!

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

so many!!! in particular though, i would love to one day finish the first ever landoscar fic i ever worked on (the idea was that oscar and lando are friends with benefits but, through miscommunication shenanigans, have somehow never kissed lmao)

i think i'd just really enjoy the full circle moment of getting to finish that first wip!

What are your writing strengths?

dialogue!!! dialogue my beloved! my favourite thing i have ever written is the unreciprocated love confession scene in you must like me for me - writing a dramatic not-argument/discussion was just so tailored to my strengths of writing dialogue and not much else lmao

there's a reason i'm having so much fun with you're always on my team! and it's because what is a texting fic if not a fic made only of dialogue!!!

What are your writing weaknesses?

description!!!!!! tell me 'bout the first time you saw me was a delight to write but truly i don't know if i could do a first meeting fic again because trying to work out how a stranger would describe oscar piastri was a NIGHTMARE

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

as someone who can only speak english, i simply don't have a good enough understanding of any other language to do it without defaulting to like. terrible google translate

...glee (i wasn't even that into glee!!! my two best friends at the time were though so i wrote a couple things i thought they'd enjoy lmao)

galex!!! i don't know if i could do it but i really really want to one day - if only because my girlfriend's sister adores them and i think it would be fun to write something for her!

you must like me for me undoubtedly. it's the most complete fic i think i've ever written in that there's a clear plot with a clear resolution and, as i said earlier, that unreciprocated love confession/first kiss scene is genuinely my favourite thing i have written of anything ever!!!

it was also the first fic i'd posted in nearly 6 years!!! and i'm so glad i felt happy enough with it to share it because i've just had the most wonderful time in this fandom since doing so!!!

Oh gosh, thank you sm!! It's been such a darn long time since I've last visited that fic, I almost forgot about it to be honest 💀 I genuinely did love writing it tho, it was really really fun, one of my proudest works (would be even better if it were, ya know... finished *cough cough*). ㅤAh, is that what people assume? Well, it is perhaps a logical conclusion to come to. It is, however, just not the whole truth. There is always more to the story though, isn't there? More than people hear, more than they know. But there is only so much you can understand without actually being there, and that was something that no one ever gets the whole story to. Lucifer doesn't like talking about the exterminations clearly and Michael—well, the way that he handled that will never be his proudest moment.

ㅤ"That's not—" a sigh slips from his lips and the Archangel shakes his head. "I will never undermine Sera's position in Heaven. Her and every Seraphim in the clouds are very important to the foundation of Heaven. What they do is incredibly useful, a pillar that keeps the place running that is just as vital to it's survival as the Archangels themselves." She was a great person and the things she does carry weight.

ㅤ"However, no matter how important and high her position is, she will never have the ability and the authority to start a war with anyone, let alone Hell." That was no a choice that she could make no matter who brought the request to her. Heaven was a place of peace, avoiding things like that was supposed to be part of what they were. Handling situations with violence, even with a place like Hell, was supposed to be a last resort. Michael existed as the Sword of God to protect Heaven, the angels and the humans from evil. It wasn't there for him to cause violence, war and problems. He was a protector, not a murderer, no matter the titles he possessed.

ㅤSo as such, something like the exterminations that was technically Heaven actively picking a fight with Hell, required a much higher authority. Michael's authority. As the Leader of the Heavenly Army, as the Leader of the Archangels, as the Sword of God—his word, his signature, his choice was needed to approve of this.

ㅤAnd he did give it.

ㅤ"Adam first took the topic of it to Sera, to get her opinion and perhaps at the time her permission over the entire thing. Adam reported directly to Sera in the terms of general hierarchy, she was responsible for him, and after she made her choice in how serious to consider his request—actual, proper paperwork and a request for it landed on my desk." At first he had… dismissed it. Michael really wanted to avoid anything to do with Hell and Lucifer to be honest. But it didn't go away.

ㅤAdam pressed, Sera requested a private meeting with him and they… talked. The concerns they brought up, the statistics they had, the growing number of sinners, the flooding of the Pride Ring. It looked bad on Lucifer's part, it was a lot of demons. Michael had already faced his brother once in war, he already lost one sibling, the idea of doing that again—the fear of losing more? They had fed on that, perhaps unknowingly, and slowly chewed him down on the entire thing. Chipping away at his heart.

ㅤMichael got worried and he finally gave in to Sera and Adam's request. He gave them permission and included some of his own stipulations in the contract.

ㅤ"The first draft of the contract was returned by Lucifer, as I knew it would be. Intentionally I had written in it all of Hell. The sinners, the demons, the Hell native creatures, the Hellborns, the weird demonic looking animals—if it lived in Hell, I included it in the exterminations. I did that knowing Lucifer would never agree to it." Manipulation, he knows, but it was also the only way that he would have won with this.

ㅤ"Lucifer sent it back with the stipulation that the Hellborns, his daughter, would be protected. It limited the exterminations to just the sinners that lived in the Pride Ring, and this in turn allowed us to tighten the binds of the contract."

ㅤIt was something he isn't entirely sure Lucifer caught onto, the reason for the first wording, the way that Michael intentionally twisted and took advantage of him. Of the weakness he very clearly had.

ㅤAnd if he did notice, the fact he doesn't hate or hold it against Michael? It probably actually makes him a better person than the Archangel.

ㅤ"I sent a new contract back with Sera and Adam, to negotiate the finer details. The most important parts of the details of the contract were this. The exterminations would be limited to once a full human calendar year and to only the sinners that lived in the Pride Ring. The exterminators would not be permitted to go any further or to harm a Hellborn or any other creature in Hell that is not a sinner. The most important clause on Heaven's parts was that Lucifer was not permitted to intervene at any point during these exterminations. He could not help, he could not offer protection, he could not fight back. He had to simply wait it out, preferably in his palace but the contact obviously didn't go into that much detail."

ㅤLucifer was a threat, he was still an Archangel fallen or not. He was strong and Heaven couldn't pick a fight with him. If he chose to protect the sinners, any angel he sent down there with the exception of himself, would have been slaughtered by his blade.

ㅤMichael needed him out of the way.

ㅤSo he did.

ㅤ"And Lucifer signed the contract. To protect the demons born in Hell, he signed away the lives of all the sinners in the Pride Ring." Michael shrugged. "It wasn't fair. I completely took advantage of his good will toward the demons born in Hell. I took advantage of his love for his daughter knowingly. And I did it to protect my home. He looked like a danger, and I needed to control that threat to Heaven."

ㅤIt worked out for him in the end, at least it seemed that way. Michael doesn't regret at all the fact he signed off on the extermination, he doesn't, and why would he? Sinners were sinners. "From there on I had Adam handle the exterminations so I didn't have to deal with them. Paperwork, progress reports and such still landed on my desk. Adam reported after each extermination how it went, but that was it. I really didn't spare them another thought, to be honest."

ㅤUntil they got drastically out of control.

ㅤ"And then Adam went and broke the contract with Hell and had to die. His death was very inconvenient for me."

all RIGHT, let’s go. A line/paragraph I’m proudest of? I’m gonna cheat and use two. It’s fiiiine.

Anna has always known her own inclinations. She cannot remember a time where she did not look at other women and not know what the warmth in her chest meant. A scientist analyses data, collects results, and she's been a scientist from a very young age. She makes a point not to lie to herself about what and who she is. Anna Hanover is honest and blunt to a fault, and why feel ashamed for something so natural? Why feel ashamed, when you're already fighting for progress in one area. What's another one? 

from woman crowned in blossom. With this? I think it’s the confidence Anna has here, for me, that sells it. I wanted to write queer people who know who they are, even in the 1800s. Who aren’t ashamed. Anna knows who she is, she knows who she loves, and she’s analyzed that so that she’s confident in it until the end. She’s a SCIENTIST. And I know this version of her may not be fully canon, but I love her all the same.

But, if you have a heart, you’ll pity their favourites. Even the “good” ones can still mess them up easily - just look at poor Hannah Foster, cursed with memories of places she’ll never be again, horrors she never would have seen without Webby leaning over her shoulder. She was taught to bear them, but that doesn’t change their fate. She’s a teenage Atlas, bearing the weight of countless upon countless tragedies on her shoulders. 

from what is a god?. Hannah Foster destroys me, honestly. She’s never been able to be normal, not really. She was born with too much power and while Webby may try to help? She can only do so much, and Hannah cracks under the strain. Teenage Atlas has lived rent-free in my head since I wrote it.

what fic were you proudest of this year? i might have to say only fools rush in aka marriage bets! it certainly is the longest one i've written and had the longest gestational period. plus i wrote a lot of it while incredibly busy (tho maybe that helped?). im still happy i managed to hit the balance between ridiculous premise and genuine feeling that i was aiming for, and that i managed to figure out and feel comfortable in a new pov.

what fic are you most surprised you wrote? linger. if you told me a year ago i was gonna write 65k of omegaverse i simply would not have believed you! it wasn't a trope i ever thought i would write! and yet here we are. lmao.

favorite old (to you) ship this year? i mean. viva la ratfiction. someday we may run out of steam but not this year by golly!

favorite new (to you) ship this year? the amount brady/quinn clawed its way into my brain this year cannot be overstated. maybe i was exploring last year but this year is when it really got me in a fucking chokehold. the pining! the friends to lovers of it all!!!!! exquisite. honorable mention to matthew/sasha. those two ARE in love.

favorite old (to you) ship you picked up again this year? earlier this fall i started a rewatch of miss fisher's murder mysteries and god. jack and phryne. they are EVERYTHING. someday i really will write fic for them.

fics/plot bunnies you're excited about working on in 2024? i think i have tentatively figured out my next long matthew/leon project (which i can't start until the new year) but i don't want to say quite yet in case i scare it off but! that. it WILL be a true slow burn which will be fun. also ballet quinn i WOULD like to put more than 2k in your gdoc. hopefully at some point soon inspiration will hit again/i'll feel less dull and burnt out

I no longer will complain by the amount of angst in her fic— ok well I still will complain because 🤨 missy, that’s my heart on the line! But fine, it’s yours you’ve stabbed it plenty of times anyways I’m immune to the pain by now 😒. Oh is that a dagger, I suppose give it your best shot.

I find it so funny that you're on a single-handed mission to prove I'm a Hufflepuff while I'm just a normal, average (non-evil) Slytherin. Cursed Child has it's major problems but Scorpius Malfoy is a little Slytherin cinnamon roll I'll treasure to the end of my DAYS. (also no shade to Hufflepuffs! My bff group is split 2 Hufflepuffs and 2 Slytherins, like a buddy system)
