Ignacio Sáenz Valiente te acerca a tu primera moto
Tumblr media

Best Dual channel ABS bikes under 2 lac
Riding a two-wheeler is a risky affair. You are exposed to every kind of danger there is. And when we talk about riding on Indian roads, it is no less than an adventure. With the increasing number of two-wheelers on the road and an increasing number of potholes as well, it is advisable to get yourself a motorcycle which scores high on the safety quotient.
A Dual-channel ABS system plays a very crucial role in ensuring that you reach home safe and sound. Although some manufacturers offer single-channel ABS too, if you have ever ridden a motorcycle, you would know that sometimes, a single-channel ABS just doesn’t cut it. Here are the best motorcycles under INR 2 Lakh with dual-channel ABS:
Retro-styled
Royal Enfield Classic 350
Retro-styled motorcycles might have gained huge popularity only in the past couple of years but it is the RE Classic 350 which is the OG of the game. It sells like hotcakes despite having its own set of limitations. On the performance front, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 comes with BS6 compliant, 350cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 19bhp of power and 28Nm of torque. RE has added a fuel injector to the BS6 variant of the bike to improve throttle response.
Benelli Imperiale 400
The sole BS6 offering from Benelli, the Imperiale 400 is a retro delight! Since it is a relatively new introduction to the Indian market there aren’t many changes except the fact that it now has a BS6 compliant power plant. Its 374cc single-cylinder motor delivers 21 PS of maximum power and 29 Nm of peak torque. It features retro styling highlighted by elements like the teardrop-shaped fuel tank with rubber thigh pads, round headlamp cluster, split seat design, wide handlebars, etc.
Jawa Motorcycles
The Jawa Perak is considered to be a lifestyle product but the Jawa and the Jawa 42 churn out the numbers for the company. The 293 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine of the Jawa and Jawa 42 produced 27 PS of maximum power and 28 Nm of peak torque. Now, with the BS6 update, this engine churns out 26.51 PS and 27.05 Nm. If you are looking for an authentic retro experience, Jawa Motorcycles deserve serious thought.
Honda CB350
The latest kid on the block, the Honda CB350 was launched recently. One good look at the spec sheet and you would know that the Japanese bikemaker has gone all guns blazing on its competition. The CB350 is powered by a 348cc air-cooled single that churns out 21bhp and 30Nm. The long-stroke engine features a balancer to keep vibrations in check. The Honda Highness cruiser bike also comes with Honda Selectable Torque Control. Streetfighter styled:
KTM Duke 200
The BS6 iteration of the KTM Duke 200 received significant updates and now looks more modern than before. When it was launched back in 2012, it took the market by storm because of the equipment it had on offer and its radical looks. The Duke 200 is powered by a 199.5cc engine which produces 25.83 PS @ 10,000 rpm and a torque of 19.5 Nm @ 8000 rpm. As far as streetfighters go, the Duke 200 still holds a special place in a biker’s heart.
Bajaj Dominar 400
Ever since it was launched, the Dominar 400 has always been a value for money proposition. It packs the same motor which powers the mental naked Duke 390. Powering the motorcycle is a 373cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, single-cylinder engine that is good for 40HP of maximum power and peak torque of 35Nm. Bajaj tags the Dominar 400 as its ‘power cruiser’. The Dominar 400 is particularly renowned for its highway touring capabilities.
Bajaj Dominar 250
The Dominar 250 is similar to the Dominar 400 in more than one ways but features fewer premium parts to keep costs in check. Bajaj launched its BS6 compliant Dominar 250 in March 2020. Dominar 250 is powered by a 248.77cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor which is borrowed from the KTM 250 Duke. This helps the Dominar 250 produce 26.6bhp of power and 23.5Nm of peak torque. It might not be as powerful as its elder brother but is still capable on wide-open highways.
TVS Apache RTR 200
The TVS Apache RTR 200 is considered to be one of the best 200cc naked streetfighters available in the country today. The 2020 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is powered by a 199.5 cc single-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power output of 20bhp at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 16.8Nm at 7,500 rpm. The BS6 compliant engine of the bike is mated to a five-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch.
Suzuki Gixxer 250
The Suzuki Gixxer 250 might not be the most popular choice in the quarter-litre segment but there is no denying to the fact that it is one of the best 250cc motorcycles available in the country today. he BS6 compliant 249cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected SOHC engine of the bike churns out 26.5 PS which comes in at 9300 rpm while the torque rating of 22.2Nm at 7,300rpm has stayed as it is. This powerplant comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Husqvarna Vitpilen 250/Svartpilen 250
If we had one word to describe the Huskies, it would be ‘Exotic’. While both of them don’t score that high on practicality, it is the fun factor they bring to the table which makes them such interesting motorcycles. They use the same mechanicals from the KTM Duke 250 and retain the same engine. The 248.8 cc fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, DOHC motor puts out 30 ps of peak power @ 9000 rpm and 24 Nm torque @ 7500 rpm.
Fully faired motorcycles
KTM RC 200
The KTM RC 200 is an excellent beginner’s bike if you are looking for some track action. An updated version of the same is on the cards and should arrive sometime in 2021. The current iteration is powered by a 199.5cc engine which produces 25.83 PS @ 10,000 rpm and a torque of 19.5 Nm @ 8000 rpm. Its sharp styling and handling characteristics still manage to attract motorcyclists around the country.
Bajaj Pulsar RS 200
Although it hasn’t received a significant update since the time it was launched, the RS 200 still remains a formidable motorcycle in its segment. The RS 200 uses a 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 24.13bhp and 18.5Nm. Bajaj recently rolled out new colour schemes for the RS 200 which make the motorcycle look sportier than before. But we still think that it is time now that Bajaj should think of updating the RS 200 thoroughly.
Yamaha R15
The Yamaha R15 is another excellent choice when it comes to aggressive, faired sports bikes under INR 2 Lakh. Don’t let its displacement fool you. This thing handles like a charm and performs in the same manner. It is powered by a 155 cc, Liquid-cooled, 4- stroke, SOHC, 4-valve engine which produces a power output of 18.6 PS at 10,000 rpm and a torque of 14.1 N.m at 8,500rpm.
Suzuki Gixxer SF 250
The Gixxer SF 250 is the faired sibling of the Gixxer 250, hence, it is powered by the same 249cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected SOHC engine which churns out 26.5 PS which comes in at 9300 rpm while the torque rating stands at 22.2Nm at 7,300rpm. The inclusion of a well-designed fairing and a windshield upfront makes it an excellent mile muncher.

DEMO RIDE: 2019 Zero FX
I rolled on the throttle. I rocked backward. The rear shock compressed. And the front wheel lifted off the tarmac.
Tumblr media
I’m a minimalist. I own seven pairs of underwear. I own 3 pairs of shoes - black boots, brown boots, and running shoes. I own one motorcycle. And most importantly, I don’t own a car.
In my quest to downsize my possessions, I asked myself:
Do I really need a shelf full of books? Not when I can borrow them from the library.
Do I really have to collect vinyls? Not when I can Spotify the record.
Do I really need a second motorcycle? Maybe we should talk about this one...
When you undertake this lifestyle, you realize that simplicity doesn’t always lend itself to functionality. You learn that you better do laundry every week or you’re going commando on Monday. You learn to dress up your boots for the work week and dress them down for weekend hikes. And you learn that you’re shit out of luck when your motorcycle gets a flat.
If that last example seems oddly specific, that’s because I recently picked up a nail in my rear tire and had to take a sick day. I rely on one vehicle to get me to and from work, so I don’t have a plan B if anything goes wrong. They say the best ability is availability and I can’t expect the Harley to be 100% one-hundred percent of the time. So maybe a second motorcycle wouldn’t be such a bad idea, right?
I know what you’re saying, “why not just buy a car?” But I’m sorry faithful reader, that sounds far too practical and honestly isn’t an option for me. I enjoy not owning a car and I will do my best to keep it that way.
With that established, I should note that I want my second motorcycle to be off-road capable? I want to take on challenging, new terrain. I want to slide the back wheel out. I want to hit the whoops. I want to ride where I won’t get obliterated by a 2-ton cage on four wheels.
With that in mind, my search invariably led me to dual sports. Though I’d prefer a dedicated dirt bike, I’d also prefer to NOT own a pickup truck. How else would I get to the trails if I didn’t own an expensive toy (in the form of a truck) to cart my other expensive toy (in the form of a dirt bike) there? How could I keep my possessions to a minimum while justifying the purchase as a “necessary, and specialized” tool (wink, wink)?
Cue Zero’s light, dual sport, electric motorcycle, the FX.
Tumblr media
At 289 lbs, the FX touts an astounding 46 horsepower and 78 ft-lb of torque! Versus Honda and Husqvarna’s 450cc dual sports, that’s a powerful package that was just begging to be ridden. So when I swung a leg over the FX, it’s safe to say that I was giddy as an alcoholic at an open bar.
At just under 35″, the Zero’s seat height isn’t for the vertically challenged. With 8.6″ of travel up front and 8.9″ in the rear, I had to use all of my 5′10″ frame to fit the bike. While stationary, I stabilized the bike on the tips of my toes, but anyone sub-5′8″ would probably need to favor one foot at stop lights, using their leg as a human kickstand of sorts. Compared to the low slung seat of my Harley and the intermediate height of the Naked bikes I’ve ridden recently, the FX felt like straddling a donkey without stirrups.
With my toes brushing the concrete, I couldn’t help but bounce on the rear suspension. Surprisingly, the monoshock compressed quite easily, filling me with hope for undulating terrain, yet filling me with dread for twisting roads. It’s safe to say that my past experience with Yamaha’s FZ-07 left me with a residual distrust of mushy springs.
Tumblr media
Once the rest of the group mounted up, we set out for the Hollywood Hills. Zipping along Fairfax Ave, our e-motors buzzed like a pack of RC cars, the audible whir increasing along with our speed. If there’s anything consistent across the Zero models that I’ve tested (FX & SR/F), it’s the sophistication of the throttle mapping. Without the modulation of a clutch, you would assume that the power would engage the back wheel instantaneously, but the gradual roll on aids the most ham-fisted riders and ramps up with exponential velocity as you twist your wrist.
While the FX gains speed without effort, it also holds low speeds with nuance and finesse. Squeaking past Hollywood traffic isn’t an easy feat for many a bike, but Zero’s dual sport pulls it off with a controlled low-speed mapping and steering.
Tumblr media
The narrow frame squeezes through the smallest of spaces and its height allows the handlebars to easily float over side view mirrors. With a combination of weasel-like maneuverability and a range of 91 miles per charge, the FX challenges all other commuter candidates in the field.
As my group turned off Hollywood, leaving the urban landscape behind, I was pleased to see an empty street winding up a steep hill. That’s when the pace quickened. That’s when motor really stretched its legs. That’s when I could test out that suspect suspension.
We accelerated up the increasing incline, each rider inclined to increase the space between them and those following. We banked right. We banked left. And to my surprise, the “mushy” monoshock retained its rigidity in the corners, responding to my every input.
Tumblr media
On my Harley, I depend on the weight of the bike to slow down my approach into an uphill corner, but on this featherweight, you barely lose any velocity. Despite my approaching speed, the bike easily negotiated each turn, relying on the combination of snappy handling and ride height/lean angle.
Though blasting through the corners is fun, speed is nothing without brakes, and the FX delivers in that department. Once we slowed to a stop, I peered down at the front rotor, floored by the fact that it only housed a single 240 mm rotor and a 4-piston caliper. The stiff, even braking left me perplexed. How could such a minimal package provide maximum performance?
Tumblr media
I could chalk it up to the light weight of the FX, but that would be an oversimplification because the J-Juan calipers that come equipped on all Zeros have only outperformed my expectations on the bikes I’ve tested.
Tumblr media
Once the pack regrouped at a stop sign, we turned down a side street.
I rolled on the throttle. I rocked backward. The rear shock compressed. And the front wheel lifted off the tarmac.
Now, I can’t lie, I wanted to see if I could wheelie the FX. Lacking a clutch, Zero’s dual sport has to rely on horsepower alone to get that front wheel up, and I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t curious if it could do it. But once I achieved my goal, I came to my senses and kept my lead wrist in check.
We soon descended the domestic labyrinth, bending the fleet of Zeros through the gentle curves of the Hollywood Hills neighborhood. Little did I know, a stop sign was waiting for me at the bottom of the hill.
I stabbed the front brake. I slammed on the rear pedal. I braced for the endo. I waited for the rear to break loose. But instead, the bike eased to a steady stop, the calipers progressively clamping down on the frisbee-sized rotors.
Tumblr media
After that close call, I diagnosed the only shortfall with the FX, and it wasn’t the brakes, it wasn’t the handling, and it damn sure wasn’t the power. The sole complaint I had for the FX was the ergonomics.
While the bars are wide, while the riding posture is upright, the height of the footpegs leave your lower quarters cramped. At a level angle, the pegs force your feet into an acute angle with your shins. Having my knees bunched up, I found myself frequently dangling my right foot where it naturally wanted to rest, under the brake pedal. Not the safest of positions when you need to brake in an emergency.
But aside from the performance of the bike, you also have to take pragmatism into account. The biggest barriers for the FX - and most electric motorcycles - are price and range. With an MSRP over $10K, I’m not sure if I could justify purchasing a bike that only nets an hour and a half of ride time. I wouldn’t be able to undertake a long trip on the FX. I would be limited to a 45-mile riding radius or risk the possibility of not making it back home. Living in the city, I’m not sure if I could even make it to the dirt with that capacity (or lack thereof).
Tumblr media
In order to get the most out of the FX, I would need to transport it to the nearest trail, and it doesn’t make much sense to pay for a $10K bike that would need a $20K truck for me to properly enjoy it. At a scant 91 miles per 9.7-hour charge, I realized that the best ability truly is availability. And I’ll take a Harley that’s 100% ninety percent of the time versus a Zero that is only 100% fifty percent of the time.
In time, the range of e-bikes will increase and the price will decrease, but for now, I’ll rely on my good ole Low Rider...and maybe take a few more sick days.

Buat yang hobi touring, sangat nyaman mengendarai ini. Desain body-nya keren, menjadikannya lebih gahar dan macho ditunggangi pria.
Mengenal Jenis-Jenis Motor Sport
Pure-Sport

Why Harley?
I had my M1 license. I had cash burning a hole in my pocket. I had a helmet and a leather jacket. I was just missing one thing: a motorcycle.
Tumblr media
When I started looking for bikes I was really into the aesthetics - the looks. I wanted a sleek retro machine with a low profile silhouette. That's just an artsy fartsy way of saying I wanted a cafe racer.
They looked fit for the gridlock LA traffic. They looked sexy, and most women thought so too. They looked like they'd match my distressed skinny jeans and bubble shield (hipster scum).
Tumblr media
My homeboy was getting his bike around this time too and he went with the Sportster because it had the lowest seat heat. He's about 5'8" so he decided to go with the inseam clearance of the SuperLow.
Tumblr media
I'd been looking at Harley Davidson too. For the Sportster as well, but I was always a fan of the Nightster and the Iron. So ultimately, I whittled it down to HD and Triumph for my future bike.
When I told my buddy how I was looking at Triumph, he said, "hah! Dude, your back is gonna ache."
From that point, I did the exact opposite of listening to his advice and started checking out Moto Guzzis. Every hipster in LA had a Triumph. I needed a semi-nerdier version with a Guzzi.
But in the end, it was a girl that changed my mind. She road a Sportster and told practically the same thing that my friend did.
"Your back is gonna hurt on the long rides."
Except this time, I listened.
I don't know if it was the second opinion or me thinking my buddy's a complete idiot (& not trusting his advice) or feminine wiles, but from that point, I only looked for Harleys.
Now I know what your thinking, "Why Harley?".
Well, just give me a minute. Let me list a few things like...
Performance
Tumblr media
The Yamaha Bolt has a bigger engine. The Indian Scout packs 100hp out the box. Yes, Harleys are heavy. Yes, Harleys are slow. Yes, Harley handle like shit on hot summer asphalt. But the Harley Sportster has one thing those two don't - the looks. You can't argue with the aesthetics of their machines. They're classic American motorcycle design. And yeah, they do shake the shit outta you, but that 'charm' wins you over quick. In the end, it's a balance of practical use and styling. If I'm not on the track, why do I need a sports bike? If I'm not cafe hopping, why do I need a cafe racer? But if I'm traveling long distance (and wanna do it in style), I need a Harley. And that's where I want my bike to perform. On the long haul.
Which bring me to my next point...
Touring
Tumblr media
When you're doing a road trip on a motorcycle, you want to be able to pack tents & stakes, sleeping bags & bed mats, socks & chonies. On a motorcycle, space is sparse. You have about half the bike's surface occupied by the rider (or riders) and a quarter taken up by scorching metal, so the ability to lash your hipster ass REI gear to the sissy bar and your Mexican blanket to the handlebars is a premium feature. With most bikes, that's not a possibility. You don't spot too many sports bikes strapped down with a week's worth of camping gear. You don't typically run into a cafe racer at gas stations that don't take card. You don't find too many naked bikes on the backroads and lost highways.
And yes, there are brands besides Harley that make great touring bikes.
But none of those bikes have the...
Design
Tumblr media
The American motorcycle is developmentally challenged. Indian and Victory started pushing the motor functionality forward, but the American aesthetic will always be planted in what Harley-Davidson, and it's riders, do to their bikes. The Bobber. The Chopper. The Club Style. Harley's had a heavy hand in influencing all of those designs and will continue to shape American motorcycle styling, but that's where the arrested development begins. These things still use pushrods! They just started using monoshocks! Who the fuck needs traction control, right? (rolls eyes)
But Harley engines are the definition of proprietary (shit, all engines have a proprietary feel, but this one appeals to me the most). They feel different from their competitors. Probably because they're the Neanderthals of engines, but there's nothing else like them. They chug, cough, rumble, grunt, gurgle (bad times), and howl (good times). They rattle, radiate, shake...and there's nothing else like it.
Yeah, they're American alright, and that's what leads me to...
Economics
Tumblr media
I'm not going to politicize this point, but the fact is, I believe we need more manufacturing/blue collar jobs in this country. That's just evident by the ghostly, hollow, abandoned factories in my city. It's reinforced by the tent cities in Skid Row. It's apparent in the inner city and the rural areas. If I were to politicize this, I'd say that poverty affects both Republicans and Democrats, both red & blue, city dwellers & country folk. All that to say, that I also chose Harley for the fact that they still make something in America. I know they manufacture overseas and they just laid off a large portion of their employees, but I wear Wolverine boots & Brookings socks, a majority of my wardrobe is made in America, I want the motorcycle I ride to be made by blue-collar Americans. It's not about Socialism. It's not about Fascism. It's about providing jobs for working-class Americans, and that's worth supporting.
Sorry to get all preachy, but in the end, it's all about the...
Freedom
Tumblr media
As soon as you see the word "Freedom", I know what you're thinking - typical Harley rider. But that feeling also comes on a Honda or a Triumph, on an Indian or a KTM, on a Royal Enfield or a Beemer. Of course, they're different brands and different ride qualities, but they all imbue a sense of independence, and that's what a motorcycle does, makes you feel like you can leave it all behind. Like you can escape. On a bike, you don't worry about making your mortgage payments or that one co-worker that you hate. You don't fret about that looming deadline or your favorite team's losing record. When you're on a motorcycle, you focus on one thing, the ride. It's meditative. It's liberating. It's freedom.
At the end of my search, I found a used Harley and drove down to the local dealership. It was a 2015 Iron 883 with a set of chrome Vance & Hines Short Shots and an EFI tuner. Aside from that, she was stock.
The seller walked out to the bike, fired up the engine, gave the throttle a pull, and asked, "what do you think?".
I said, "I think I'm gonna buy her."
And just like that, I had a Harley. But most importantly, I had a Motorcycle.
This is why I chose Harley, but that don't mean you have to as well. If you chose another bike, share your experiences in the comments. If you ride a Harley, share your experiences in the comments. And if you're looking for a bike, don't worry about the brand, just get the fuckin' motorcycle!
