i refuse to read or learn anything about Worm because im having fun trying to piece together a plot based on the disconnected posts i see on my dash about it like an illiterate medieval peasant piecing together the story of creation via stained glass windows. as far as i can tell it's Homestuck for leftists with superpowers instead of trolls

You know how in mythology, when a god has a child they're either a god or a half god of some sort, there's something supernatural about them. But because of how homestuck's godtiering works, a child of two full gods like Harry Anderson, would still be a regular mortal, i think this kids would be considered demigods by the population, as tho they don't have powers they're children of the gods.

(page 296-306, but also just some general thoughts?)

I'm being so normal about this comic casually dropping the three best characters we've seen so far on three consecutive pages. Fluthlu, Nrub'yiglith and Oglogoth are all sick as hell. They have eyes and mouths in completely normal numbers and positions. Their line of Hot Topic clothes would sell out in minutes. I can feel my bones begin to bubble and crack just thinking about them. I cannot wait for Rose to ill-advisedly summon them.

Page 297 is INCREDIBLE with its tantalizing idea that the strife specibus was briefly a conduit for unfathomable cosmic entities. The red splattered black background is similar to the one on the blood spade page - could be a coincidence, but I have been waiting for that page to get folded back into the story. This moment of temptation combined with TG insisting the strife specibus is a permanent allocation makes me think Rose will allocate the grimoire at some future time, its dark powers able to overcome the specibus' normal rules.

On page 305, we learn that Rose is confused by a page in the grimoire depicting several windows - two fairly standard windows from mass produced public buildings, two fancy stained glass windows, and a third normal looking window that's electronic, and plugs into the wall. But surely an electronic window is just a computer? Like how we're looking at the comic through a browser window, or how the apparatus the Vagabond found (linked from page 271) has a four square pattern reminiscent of a window? And since the page relates to 'summoning practices', does that mean these zoologically dubious creatures can be summoned through a computer? Through Sburb?

I'm back on my psychoanalysis bullshit with Rose but to be fair, she started it. I think the reason she likes to write is because it's so much easier for her to carry herself off as cool and collected in words than any other way. She's mastered hiding her flaws in considered writing but not so much in the moment. Thinking about the authority and certainty in her GameFAQs compared to her 'arghs' in her messages to John. Thinking about her 'I think they are elegant' regarding the tree modus compared to her scattering her prized possessions over the observatory. Thinking about her creative writing journals as unfinished thoughts and Rose as a perfectionist who will show things to people, but only on her terms. The point? Stack modus isn't looking so bad now.

I've also been thinking about Rose being framed as Dark John. This is partly because her panels are literally shaded gray while John's are bright white (I know it's dark where she is, but it still affects the tone of her pages) and partly because of her putting on an act to seem dark and mysterious vs John putting on an act by wearing a CLEVER DISGUISE and having a food fight with his dad but most importantly, John having a favorite monster on his shirt (friendly grinning alien who loves food and helping the people of New York) vs Rose having a favorite monster on her shirt (foul patrician of misery whose mammoth belly gurgle brings the Epoch of Joy to an abrupt end).

Finally, I'm thinking about the Small Scale Adventure and the tiny video game fetch quests John and Rose keep being sent on. In a story of imminent apocalypse via procedurally generated meteors, the fact that Rose's current mission is to go get the backup generator from the yard feels so mundane and so grounded. Something about the tiny parts that make up the whole, the cosmic insignificance but also vital importance of each individual's role in a much bigger system.

Basically, I think Homestuck's good. Pretty cool that it just hit 300 pages, here's to 300 more!

anyways! the final i chose for my current college course is to make a piece based on certain pieces from ancient time periods (this one, i picked french gothic stained glass, was the only one that wasn’t whole ass painting, since i’m not that good at painting/rendering digitally

I feel like Bayonetta could be a Witch of Time. Anyways, have you done an analysis of a Witch of Time? + a playlist and a possible card or Bayonetta?

The Witch of Time [symbols: witch hat, gear]

The Witch class has its basis in the classic witch trope. An example would be Morgan le Fay from Arthurian Legend.

The Time aspect’s main themes are endings and destruction. You can find its official description here.

A Witch of Time is among those who explore physical existence. This is the “classpect group” they belong to. Members include: the Mage, Seer, Heir, and Witch of Space/Time. These classes are all opposites or inverses of each other that explore the Space/Time dichotomy (physical existence). A description of classpect groupings can be found here.

The Witch of Time actively manipulates the Time aspect. Active classes tell themselves what to do and do so for their own benefit. They are more likely to stand up for themselves, but more likely to be cruel. Witches and Heirs possess great power over their aspect and everything it symbolizes that has been granted to them from an outside source. Simplified, the Witch of Time is motivated by themselves to manipulate endings and destruction.

In personality, the Witch of Time constantly wishes things were different and has a strong desire for closure. Personality descriptions can be found here.

Their archetype is the True Harbinger, defined by fixing endings and destruction. Archetypes are explained here.

Their opposite is the Heir of Space, who passively manipulates creation and beginnings.

Their inverse is the Seer of Space, who passively knows creation and beginnings.

A classpect or “god tier” is an individual’s best self. All classpects go through a journey from unrealized, to struggle, to realized. When a character is unrealized, they neutrally exist as their inverse. On their struggle, they will wildly flip back and forth between their inverse and true classpect. In their worst moments they will act as their inverse, in their best their true classpect. When realized, they will stabilize as their true classpect. They will still have room to grow, but will become happier, more successful people.

This means that the Witch of Time begins life motivated by others to know creation and beginnings. When their struggle arrives and they are at their worst, they will continue this behavior in negative extremes. However, when at their best, they will find purpose in instead manipulating endings and destruction for themselves. When realized, they will stabilize and continue to manipulate the Time aspect actively, in a positive way.

They share their archetype with no one, being the truest representation of their type.

The Witch of Time would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Clarity [Witch] and Time [Aspect]. An example would be the Land of Stained Glass and Skeletons. An explanation of planet naming conventions can be found here.

Two possible gods, or denizens, to reign over their planet would be Chronos (God of Time) or Hephaestus (God of the Forge). Other Time aspect denizens can be found here.

When the Witch of Time completes their planet quests and dies on their quest bed, they would rise to ascension on the wings of crows (symbols of death). A list of soul animals can be found here.

The characters that I have currently classpected as Witches of Time are: Damara Megido from Homestuck [canon example], the Handmaid from Homestuck [canon example], River Song from Doctor Who, the Twelfth Doctor from Doctor Who, Missy from Doctor Who, Drusilla from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Audrey Horne from Twin Peaks.

How the Omori kids would read Homestuck

Sunny: Reads it more than once. Would have done it while not leaving the house. Relates to these kids on a "normal" level, especially the strilondes. Goes through a fanart phase. Would develop crushes on both Feferi and Vriska, somehow.

Aubrey: Straight up kins Vriska. Probably gets into arguments online. Vrisrezi shipper along with Kim. Tried to cosplay once. Kel would not stop mentioning the gray stains everywhere. Thinks Vriska is cool and not a failgirl actually. She is wrong.

Kel: Skipped the first few acts. Gets into the meme part of the fandom. He blasted Karkalicious for three hours once. He is the one who Aubrey is arguing with online. He thinks Dave is actually a cool kid, and really likes Egbert. His favorite troll is Karkat (he's so funny!), even though Karkat would hate him.

Hero: How does the internet work again? This is such a strange comic. Why is this child so ungrateful for cake? Is it a game? A puzzle? For the life of him he cannot figure this out. At least he doesn't have to read about the various spider people in the comic.

Mari: Aradia fan. Terezi fan. She gets into the memes with Kel. Who do you think he borrowed the speakers from to blast Karkalicious? She has multiple sets of cosplay glasses. Probably recommended Homestuck to Hero because of all the spiders.

Basil: Loves Tavros, Jade, and Nepeta. Has created an AU where everything is fine. He likes the carapacians and hates how people ignore them. Cosplayed with Aubrey once. Polly made him scrub out all the gray face paint stains.
