I’ve gotten asked some bizarre things as a homeschooler but my interaction today has got to be one of my favorites 😅
As I always do, I ran the track in my neighborhood and finished up about 7:50. As I went to the playground to sit on the swings and cool off, this guy in his mid-20s who’s as the pond asks, “wanna fish?” and holds up his pole. I decline and continue on.
After I’m done cooling off though and start to head for my house we had this conversation-
Fishing Dude: you ever go fishing down here?
Me: sometimes with my dad
Fishing Dude: you ever catch stuff?
Me: sometimes. Depends on the day
Fishing Dude: where down the bank do you fish?
Me: I don’t remember. It’s been a while since I’ve come
Fishing Dude: you going to school now?
Me: well I’m homeschooled, but yeah
Fishing Dude: Ahhh online college
Me: well no I’m still in high school
Fishing Dude: then how you homeschooled?
Me: well idk I get my textbooks and my laptop and I complete me lessons
Fishing Dude: ahhh do you do that because you’re anti social?
JKYAHGHAHIJFB YES I’M AN INTROVERT AND CAN BE SEMI ANTISOCIAL BUT THAT’S NOT *WHY* I HOMESCHOOL

Life is just a series of cliffs you jump off ⛰. . . No move we ever do in our lives can guarantee a certain outcome... . . Yet our guts KNOW if something is FOR us or not...and chances are - if that “thing” you’re avoiding is for your soul benefit and needed for your life’s Journey.. there’s little use building walls around it - or “buts” over it 🙅🏻‍♀️- because it’ll just keep presenting itself over + over again until you get the point 🤷🏻‍♀️. . . Like a built in spiritual looping system. . . This has been a truth I’ve seen happen to me over and over again in my life. I remember when I first started thinking about starting my event rental business several years ago... and almost as soon as the thought popped into my head e v e r y o n e I knew suddenly needed help planning something... . . And even though my “experience” and knowledge was nowhere near a design or creative field (psychology and HR) the universe didn’t care. It wanted to point me to 👉 family life, entrepreneurship + service... and that’s what it did. . . To the point that nothing else in my life seemed to flow. . . Fast forward a few yrs later and a similar thing happened with homeschooling. EVERY type of schooling we tried did not work for us (and the traumatic stories to go with them just sealed the message for us in case there was any chance we still had a doubt!). . . Suddenly I had mentors rising up everywhere I turned, laying a brick here and another there... helping me walk a path I had no clue existed. That would eventually help us start to see how we wanted to design and follow our own. . . So as you can see... . . There comes a point where divine guidance becomes - U N D E N I A B L E; and the question then becomes - will you ignore it or follow it where it leads you? . . xo s.p. . . . . #homeschool #newhomeschoolers #newhomeschoolmom #newhomeschooler #homeschoolhelp #homeschooltips #homeschoollessons #homeschoolguide #homeschoolguidance #motivationmonday❤️ #homeschooljourney #homeschoolbeginnings #homeschoolmom #homeschoolfamilies #homeschoolstory https://www.instagram.com/p/Byz09i7B2bp/?igshid=p5r1hazoe23z

We are loving the book #idab by #katherinehannigan its written in a different style compared to Trumpet of the Swan (our last book), which took some getting used to for the first few chapters. However, to my surprise the kids have been yelling “one more chpt!” for almost every sitting so far. It’s one of those books you just can’t put down! 🌟 . . This quote right here spoke to my mama heart so much too when I read it.. I think so many children wish we understood this - when they’re so desperately trying to tell us something or interject their own commentary among adults.. Sadly it seldom gets understood this way. A few years ago my babes got into the habit of holding my hand if they had to tell me something but nowadays it’s less common and they just whisper in my ear what they want to say, or patiently wait (these are one of those things that start manifesting as they get older). Either way this is a great reminder for me that most of the time what my kids have to say trumps whatever the feelings or perceptions are - of the adult I’m chatting with has. 🖤 . . The book is really also showing my babes one of the reasons why we loosely do things like math, reading, writing in a relaxed yet rhythmic way vs. radically unschooling..we take things year by year and always consider unknowns like the ones Ida’s family is traversing (such a difficult season). It’s also re-connecting us to all of the reasons why we love #homeschooling and what a privilege, freedom, and advantage it is 🦋🌲. . . It’s a beautiful #homeschoolfamly book and a tear jerker for sure so if you haven’t read it yet, please do! Just keep some tissues handy nearby.. . . . . xo . . . . . #buildyourlibrarylevel2 #buildyourlibrarycurriculum #buildyourlibrary #byl #bylfamilies #readaloudrevival #homeschoolreadalouds #homeschoolreadaloud #homeschoolbooks #homeschoolliterature #homeschoolchapterbooks #homeschoolreading #homeschoolquotes #homeschoolkids #homeschoolfiction #homeschoolstories #homeschoolers #homeschoolcommunity https://www.instagram.com/p/BqNcUJVgbND/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=s3g6ly7uz7wr
