What is the primary cause of veteran homelessness? #Veterans are 50% more likely to become homeless than other Americans due to #poverty, lack of support networks, and dismal living conditions in overcrowded or substandard housing. About 1.5 million veterans are considered at-risk of homelessness. Our programs are the lifeline that is needed by many veterans. Support us… Please visit our website, vchcny.org and donate today #HomelessVeterans #Housing #AndVeteranSuicide #22ADay #FoodAndStability #HeServed #SheServed #HomelessChildren #homelessveteranmoms https://www.instagram.com/p/CXHQGN8J_pQ/?utm_medium=tumblr

We are undertaking a special project to help Veteran Moms and their children while they make the transition from military to civilian life. There currently is not a single facility to house a Veteran Mom and her children together while she receives the services she has earned and deserves. These moms are often separated from their children, or simply given a housing voucher and sent off to fend for themselves without the support they need if suffering from an addiction, recovering from PTSD, or in many cases, been victims of sexual trauma. Our new project, Foreverly House, is a two family home to be built specifically for these women and their children. It will be located adjacent to our existing residence for women Veterans, Guardian House. The Veteran Moms and their children at Foreverly House will receive on-site counseling, as well as access and transportation to all of the services they need. Our ultimate goal is to keep these families together and give them a shot at a happy and prosperous future. Our organization operates on a shoestring budget. We do not have the resources to fund this project on our own. We need your help. If you would please support our Veteran Moms with a contribution, our organization and the women and children we serve, would be much obliged. Go to https://vchcny.org/how-can-you-help and donate today! #GivingTuesday #GivingTuesdayMilitary #ForEverlyHouse #GuardianHouse #HomelessVeteranMoms #homelessveteranchildren https://www.instagram.com/p/CW5xMjJAL3E/?utm_medium=tumblr
