How Mold Remediation in Roswell and Atlanta, GA Can Improve Indoor Air Quality
Mold is a common problem in homes and businesses, especially in humid climates like Atlanta and Marietta, GA. Mold can cause a range of health issues and damage to the property if not addressed promptly. Recognizing the signs of a mold problem is crucial for taking action to remediate it. Here are some signs that one's home or business may have a mold problem and would need professional mold removal in Atlanta and Marietta, GA:
Visible Mold Growth: The most obvious sign of a mold problem is visible mold growth. Mold can appear as black, green, or brown spots on walls, ceilings, floors, or other surfaces. If mold grows in their home or business, it's essential to address it immediately to prevent further growth and damage.
Musty Odors: Mold often produces a musty, earthy odor that can be detected even if there is no visible mold growth. If the owner notices a musty smell in their home or business, especially in areas prone to moisture, such as basements, bathrooms, or crawl spaces, it could indicate a mold problem.
Water Damage: Any past or ongoing water damage, such as leaks, flooding, or water stains, can create the perfect environment for mold growth. If the owner has experienced water damage in their home or business, it's essential to thoroughly inspect the area for mold growth.
Allergic Reactions: Mold can cause allergic reactions in some people, including sneezing, coughing, wheezing, and skin irritation. If one's family members or employees are experiencing unexplained allergic symptoms, mold could be the culprit.
Respiratory Issues: Prolonged mold exposure can lead to respiratory issues, especially in individuals with asthma, allergies, or other respiratory conditions. If one notices increased respiratory symptoms among family members, employees, or customers, it could be due to mold exposure.
Humidity Problems: High humidity levels can promote mold growth. If the home or business consistently has high humidity levels, significantly above 60%, it could create an environment conducive to mold growth.
Peeling or Discoloration of Paint or Wallpaper: Mold can cause paint or wallpaper to peel, bubble, or become discolored. If one notices these signs, especially in areas prone to moisture, it could indicate a mold problem behind the surface.
Warped or Buckled Flooring: Mold can grow underneath flooring materials, such as wood or laminate, causing them to warp or buckle. If one notices any changes in the flooring, it could indicate mold growth underneath.
Condensation on Windows or Walls: Excessive condensation on windows or walls can indicate high humidity levels, promoting mold growth. If one consistently sees condensation, especially in colder months, it's essential to address the underlying cause to prevent mold growth.
Previous Mold History: If one's home or business has had a prior mold problem that was not properly remediated, there is a higher risk of recurrence. Regular inspections and maintenance can help prevent mold from returning.
Recognizing the signs of a mold problem in one's home or business in Atlanta and Marietta, GA, is crucial for taking prompt action to address it. If one notices any of these signs, consulting with a professional company offering mold remediation in Roswell and Atlanta, GA, to assess the situation and develop a plan to safely and effectively remove the mold is essential.

Top Signs It's Time for Siding Replacement in Smyrna and Woodstock, GA: When to Update the Home's Exterior
The siding of one's home not only serves as a protective barrier against the elements but also plays a crucial role in enhancing curb appeal. Over time, siding can deteriorate due to exposure to weather conditions, wear and tear, and age. As a homeowner in Smyrna and Woodstock, GA, it's essential to watch for signs that indicate it's time for siding replacement. Upgrading the home's exterior improves its aesthetics and ensures the property's structural integrity and energy efficiency. Following are the top signs that indicate it's time for siding replacement in Smyrna and Woodstock, GA.   Visible Damage and Decay   Inspect the siding regularly for visible signs of damage, such as cracks, warping, or rotting. Wood siding is particularly susceptible to decay from moisture exposure, while vinyl siding may show cracks and fade over time. If one notices any significant damage, it clearly indicates that the siding no longer provides adequate protection and needs replacement.   Frequent Painting and Maintenance   If the homeowner finds themselves repainting the home's exterior frequently or constantly performing maintenance tasks, it may be time to consider siding replacement. Quality siding should require minimal upkeep and withstand the test of time. Modern siding materials are designed to be low-maintenance, saving one time and money on frequent repairs and repainting.   Increased Energy Bills   Old or damaged siding can compromise the energy efficiency of one's home. If the homeowner notices a significant increase in heating and cooling bills, it may be due to drafts or leaks caused by deteriorating siding. New siding with proper insulation can help improve the home's energy efficiency and reduce utility costs.   Fungus, Mold, or Mildew Growth Moisture trapped in the siding can lead to fungus, mold, or mildew growth. These biological infestations affect the home's appearance and pose health risks to the family. If one spots any signs of mold or mildew on the siding, it's time to consider replacement to prevent further issues.   Peeling Paint or Loose Wallpaper Inside   Damaged or aged siding can allow water to seep into the home's interior, leading to peeling paint or loose wallpaper on the walls. If one notices these signs indoors, it's a strong indication that the siding is no longer providing a reliable moisture barrier and should be replaced promptly.   Bubbles or Blistering on the Siding   Bubbles or blistering on the surface of the siding indicate that moisture has become trapped beneath the material. This is a sign of siding failure and can lead to further deterioration if not addressed promptly. Siding replacement will help prevent the issue from worsening and protect the home from potential water damage.   Faded or Discolored Siding   Over time, exposure to the sun's UV rays can cause the siding to fade or become discolored. Faded siding can significantly detract from one's home's curb appeal. If the siding has lost its original color and vibrancy, it may be time to consider a replacement to refresh the home's exterior appearance.   Installing replacement windows in Roswell and Decatur, GA, along with siding replacement, is a vital investment in maintaining the beauty and energy efficiency of one's residential property. By keeping an eye out for visible damage, decay, increased energy bills, and signs of moisture-related issues, one can identify when it's time for a siding upgrade. Modern siding materials offer enhanced durability, low maintenance requirements, and improved insulation, making them an excellent choice for homeowners seeking to enhance their property's aesthetics and protection. Consult a recognized siding contractor to discuss the options and find the perfect siding solution that will keep one's home looking beautiful and well-protected for years.

A very intriguing incident happened on the night of April 30, 2023, in a residential area of Las Vegas, Nevada. If the incident proves credible, it's going down in UFO history as a prominent event that America hasn't seen the likes of since Roswell. However, unlike Roswell, hard evidence of an alien crash was nowhere to be found, so there was nothing for the military to retrieve. It could be because there was never a crash at all. Maybe it was a visitation.
The story begins with footage of a Las Vegas police officer's bodycam. While the officer is tending to what appeared to be a domestic dispute call, a bright, glowing, blue disk-shaped object streaks across the night sky. The flying shape distracts both the officer and a civilian who was reporting a dispute. The civilian quickly stops talking and turns around to view the strange object. Figuring out what this extraordinary object could be becomes the officer's new priority.
Moments later, a 911 call comes in from a family in that same neighborhood. A young man by the name of Angel nervously tells the dispatcher that his family lives in a house with a large backyard. While his brother, father, and he were working on a car, they suddenly saw a bunch of bright lights come racing down from the sky to the middle of their backyard. They felt an "energy" or shockwave when it met the ground and heard a loud bang. Angel then proceeded to explain that some 8- to 10-foot-tall beings appeared and that they looked like aliens. They had really big, shiny, eyes and big mouths. He also added that this was not a "joke".
The police arrived shortly after to hear the family's story. Having just seen what appeared to be a "UFO" minuets before, the police officers were clearly a bit spooked. They believed the family was being honest but could not be sure if what the family saw was actually aliens or if the flying object from the bodycam was actually a UFO. It became another strange unsolved case that is now reportedly closed.
Here is a list of key elements to note about this encounter:
• Law enforcement recorded actual footage of an unidentified flying object that night.
• The officer who spotted the object later mentioned that he originally thought it was a "falling star."
• The object could be a number of things: a meteor, a ball of lightning, an alien craft, etc. But when asked if there was any testing or running drills that night, the military claimed that they were not doing anything of the sort.
• A neighbor's home security camera caught a flash of bright light and a loud sonic boom at the same time the object was reported to have landed.
• Angel said the area in which the bright light had hit in the backyard appeared to be blurry, as if the object was trying to camouflage itself.
• Angel and his family also reported that they heard multiple footsteps scattering around their backyard and also heard noises of footsteps on the roof.
• Angel later, in a video on YouTube (video below), went into further detail on what the "aliens" looked like. He said they were 8 feet to 10 feet in height. They had very slim bodies, long arms and legs, big heads, big eyes, big mouths, a greenish-grayish skin tone, and did not appear to be wearing any clothing. He mentions making eye contact with one of the beings, and upon eye contact, he experienced a moment of paralysis in which Angel said he could not move.
• One alien went over to a tractor in the family's backyard to inspect the controls.
• Home security footage of the event was caught on video. Unfortunately, the moment the bright light hits the ground, the video screen goes black, and when the screen comes back, the bright object is gone.
• Information on the departure of the landed object and the alien beings has not been clear.
• A few days after the incident, police returned to the family's home and saw men in suits, hats, and sunglasses leaving the residence. (This sounds a lot like the family was visited by the Men in Black.)
• It was reported that Angel has video of the aliens he saw. That footage has not been released.
• This encounter happened around May 1st, 2023, but was not widely reported by mainstream news until a month later around June 7th, 2023.
My thoughts on this story are that, until proven to be false, it sounds real. Skeptics would disagree, of course. Since the only hard evidence released to the public was the police bodycam footage, was the blue light actually a UFO? There are no official government experts who could address the matter, considering UFOs are always a classified subject. In my research and from what I have witnessed, UFOs look like organic space matter. They've been described as resembling stars, falling stars, meteors, and more. Yes, it could have been a plain coincidence that a meteor flew by before a family called 911 with a fake alien story. I don't know, but anyone with a tractor in your backyard, you better keep an eye out! Maybe the aliens use those tractors to make the crop circles. I would also like to add my opinion on the aliens that were described. They sounded like reptilians based on the description of greenish-grayish skin, big, shiny eyes, and a large mouth. What do you think of this encounter story?

there are places i’ll never ever go
summary: michael tells bonnie about alex
A/N: haven’t written any codas since 4x01 (totally forgot i’d even written those and i never put them up on AO3 yet either!) and finally got inspired to write one
(AO3 Link)
----------
"Tell me about him?" Bonnie asks during a lull in their guitar lesson.
He's glad things have settled down between them after the unfortunate mishap of misunderstanding. It'd made him wonder if he'd said something wrong, maybe should have mentioned Alex sooner.
"I was a lot like Clyde. Humanity - it wasn't kind to me growing up. Spent a lot of time dreaming of a family coming to take me away from here. Back wherever we were from." He notices the way Bonnie is watching him, guitar in her lap, listening to every word he's saying. "Alex gave me hope that this planet could be home. That it is home."
"I'm sorry I kissed you-"
He shakes his head. They really don't need to rehash that. "You didn't know."
"I hope I get to meet him."
Michael smiles, pointing at the guitar she's holding. "Ya know, it was music that brought me and him together too."
"Really?"
"In high school, I'd take his guitar from the music room. Keep it tuned, play it a bit. One day, he finally noticed." Michael thinks back to those days, to the way Alex had tried to be angry with him for taking it, the way he'd immediately softened and offered up the shed.
He flexes the fingers of his left hand.
"That's not very nice - to take it like that."
"He took it back!"
Bonnie laughs, hitting another chord quietly on the guitar before looking back up at him.
"High school?" She narrows her eyes. "How long ago was that?"
"Fifteen years?"
"Wow. That's - he really is a lucky guy." She moves to hit the string again, but pauses, as if needing to say more, and Michael waits. "So you wouldn't go back? If you could?"
"To Oasis?"
Bonnie nods, and Michael sighs. He's been thinking a lot about that ever since he kissed Alex outside the Pony six months ago. Ever since they'd made the decision to move in together. His dream has always been to go back to the home he'd left behind, but it's felt different ever since he found out Alex's has always been here, in Roswell.
I don't need to build a pretend world when I get the chance to build the real thing with you.
And for the first time, it feels like an easy question to answer. "There's nothing there for me there. It took me a long time to figure that out."
"You'd give up that dream?"
Maybe that's always been his issue, that returning to the planet they came from has always been something to look for, but not attainable. He's had theories over the years, ways he might be able to one day travel there. The plans his mom had been making before it all went to hell.
"Alex is here."
"You'd give it all up for him?"
Was he really giving up something he never knew? Alex's words play over and over in his mind. What did it say about him if now, after everything, after finally him and Alex getting to a good spot, that he'd just up and leave? After so many years of watching Alex walk away, of Alex leave him behind.
Could he do the same? Could he make that choice to be the one doing the leaving?
Before he can answer, his phone rings in his pocket. A new phone Isobel had thrusted at him after not being able to get in touch with him. He'd listened as she'd cried over Anatsa, blaming herself for not coming clean to the person she supposedly loved and losing them instead. He knew a little bit of what that was like, to feel as though you'd lost someone.
His half of the necklace falls from his pocket onto the gravel.
"Good, no one's smashed this one yet," Isobel snaps as soon as the call connects.
Michael watches as Bonnie leans over, picking up the necklace and holding it in her hand, inspecting it. There's something in her eyes as she looks at it, fear perhaps.
"Liz found something so if you could hurry up playing the double agent, meet us at the lab."
He ends the call without saying a word, not uncommon when Isobel is on a mission. But right now he's too focused on Bonnie.
"Did you make this?"
He ducks his head. "I like to work with my hands. Keeps me busy."
She runs her finger along the broken edge, where it's obvious another piece fits.
"There's more to it?"
"Alex has it."
He notices a shift in her, a look of discomfort suddenly becoming more evident.
"Bonnie?"
She shakes her head, suddenly laying the guitar down and standing up, stepping away from him, the necklace still clutched in her hand.
"There's something I have to tell you."

Some Very Strange and Sensational Stories of the Roswell Affair: Dead Aliens or Dead Humans?
View Tags
When it comes to the issue of what really happened on what was once known as the Foster Ranch, Lincoln County, New Mexico in early July 1947, there are things we know, things we suspect, and things we will probably never know. But, that something happened – something which caused the U.S. Air Force to offer multiple explanations for the event – is not a matter of any doubt at all. It was an incident that clearly concerned elements of not just the military, but the government, too, and to a highly significant degree. Eye-witnesses – both military and civilian – were warned not to talk about what they had seen and / or heard. More than a few of those warnings crossed the line and can only accurately be described as death threats. People were plunged into states of fear. Lives were changed forever; even scarred. Some lives may have ended; as in terminated. It was on July 8, 1947 that the strange event surfaced publicly. Associated Press (among many other news outlets) reported on the startling, then-breaking news:
“The many rumors regarding the flying disc became a reality yesterday when the intelligence office of the 509th Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force, Roswell Army Air Field, was fortunate enough to gain possession of a disc through the cooperation of one of the local ranchers and the sheriff’s office of Chavez County. The flying object landed on a ranch near Roswell sometime last week. Not having phone facilities, the rancher stored the disc until such time as he was able to contact the sheriff’s office, who in turn notified Major Jesse A. Marcel of the 509th Bomb Group Intelligence Office. Action was immediately taken and the disc was picked up at the rancher’s home. It was inspected at the Roswell Army Air Field and subsequently loaned by Major Marcel to higher headquarters.” The story was quickly picked up not just across the United States, but across the planet, too. In barely no time at all, however, the flying disc angle was blown out of the sky: the whole thing was nothing but a huge, embarrassing mistake. The materials found on the massive ranch – by rancher William Ware “Mack” Brazel – were not the remains of a disc, after all. What had really been found, and subsequently collected and brought to the Roswell Army Air Field, was weather-balloon debris. Or, so the military was careful to try and assure everyone.
Tumblr media
(Nick Redfern) Directly on the Roswell "UFO" crash site
With Brazel at the time of the discovery – which had actually occurred days earlier – was a young boy named Dee Proctor. He would go on to be one of the most important people in the Roswell story. We also know for sure that three, key military men, all of whom were destined to become part and parcel of the Roswell affair, were also present at the ranch – and specifically before a veritable battalion was on-site and ordered to recover the massive amount of whatever-it-was. They were Major Jesse Marcel, the intelligence-office of the 509th Bomb Group at Roswell; Captain Sheridan Cavitt, of the Counter-Intelligence Corps; and CIC Master Sergeant Lewis S. “Bill” Rickett. All three were at ground-zero. They all saw the wreckage. Years later Marcel would open up wide on the matter of the debris he saw and collected. Cavitt and Rickett may have seen more than debris. Way more. Possibly bodies, strange bodies. Brazel and little Dee may have seen one or more of those bodies, too.
Although research into the Roswell affair didn’t take off big time until the mid-to-late 1970s, the 1960s were not without significance when it comes to the case. For example, in 1966, Frank Edwards’ book Flying Saucers – Serious Business was published Chapter four of the book is titled “Pick Up the Pieces.” Edwards said of the case: “There are such difficult cases as the rancher near Roswell, New Mexico, who phoned the Sheriff that a blazing disc-shaped object had passed over his house at low altitude and had crashed and burned on a hillside within view of the house. The sheriff called the military; the military came on the double quick. Newsmen were not permitted in the area. A week later, however, the government released a photograph of a service man holding up a box kite with an aluminum disc about the size of a large pie plate dangling from the bottom of the kite. This, the official report explained, was a device borne aloft on the kite and used to test radar gear by bouncing the signals off the pie pan. And this, we were told, was the sort of thing that had so excited the rancher. We were not told, however, how the alleged kite caught fire – nor why the military cordoned off the area while they inspected the wreckage of a burned-out kite with a non-inflammable pie pan tied to it.”
Kevin Randle said of Edwards’ version of events: “While the report was essentially correct in a gross sense, the details were nearly all wrong. But the point is that Edwards had exposed the Roswell case to a wide audience in 1966, when the book was published. Nearly everyone ignored the case because of the lack of detail, other than a location in the then small and anonymous town of Roswell.” Only three years later, however, the Roswell story was about to surface again. Not in the pages of a book, or even in the town of Roswell itself. The location was one most would never guess: a certain living-room in England.

(Nick Redfern) Dead aliens or dead human guinea-pigs?
July 21, 1969 was a day on which history was made. That was the date on which Neil Armstrong became the very first member of the human race to set foot on our nearest neighbor, the Moon. History was also made in a very different way on that day, too. It may have been different, but it was no less important. For the person telling the story, it may have been even more important. July 21 was the day on which a notable revelation concerning Roswell surfaced. Not in the United States, as one might expect or assume, but right in the heart of the U.K. The source of the story was Melvin E. Brown, a man who was stationed at the Roswell Army Air Field at the time of the mysterious crash in early July 1947. Several months later, however, Brown was given a brand new assignment. In England. It was while Brown was stationed in the United Kingdom that he met the woman who was destined to become his wife: Ada. The pair made a life for themselves in England and had three daughters. At the time of the Roswell affair, however, Brown was a sergeant in the military. Not only that, Brown – who passed away in 1986 – was a key figure in the Roswell story.
Whether by accident or design, Brown chose July 21 as the day to reveal what he knew about a certain, amazing event that had occurred, back then, more than two decades earlier. One of Brown’s daughters – Beverly – said, years later: “In 1969, he told my sister and me that he was ordered to go out into the desert. He said that all available men were grabbed to go out to where a crashed saucer had come down…and there were several bodies.” One of those who had the opportunity to interview Beverly in person was English UFO sleuth, Timothy Good, the author of the acclaimed Above Top Secret. She told him: “They had to form a ring around whatever it was they had to cover, and everything was put on trucks. They were told not to look and to take no notice, and were sworn to secrecy.” The story then got even more amazing, as Beverley revealed: “I can remember my dad saying he couldn’t understand why they wanted refrigerated trucks. And him and another guy had to sit on the back of a truck to take this stuff to a hangar. They were packed in ice. And he lifted up the tarpaulin and looked in, and saw three – or possibly two – dead bodies.”
Tom Carey and Don Schmitt record that Beverly described the dead crew as having “big heads with slanted eyes.” In her interview with Tim Good, however, Beverly made a very intriguing and revealing statement. She said that the bodies her father saw back in ‘47 “…looked Asian [italics mine],” but had larger than normal heads and lacked any hair. “They looked a yellowy color.” There is also this from Beverly to Tim: “…they could have passed for Chinese [italics also mine].” It is one thing to say that the bodies looked somewhat Asian; however, specifically stating that the bodies which Melvin Brown saw “could have passed for Chinese” strongly suggests they were extremely human-looking. There is a very good reason for that: they were human. Remember too that the “Chinese” comment was made to Beverly Bean by her father – a first-hand witness to the bodies. And, as a first-hander he should have known what it was that he saw.
Moving into the 1970s and the 1980s, we have three very intriguing stories from John A. Price, of the Roswell-based UFO Enigma Museum, and the author of a 1997 non-fiction book, Roswell: A Quest for the Truth. On one particular day in 1978, Price – who was employed as a roofer at the time - was working outside on a particular property in Hagerman. It’s a town situated approximately twenty-four miles from Roswell. The property held a number of handicapped children – this much was clear to Price, as several such children exited the property and stood on the patio, watching him as he worked. He thought “this must be a home for the mentally impaired.” That was not all, however. Price had more to say: “Suddenly, I almost choked on my coffee as two more children, or at least I think they were children, walked out and stood behind the others.” According to Price, they were all around four- to four-and-a-half-feet in height. They had oversized, hairless heads, and their ears and noses were noticeably smaller than normal for a young child. Things came to a sudden end when, Price recalls, “a lady came to the door and ushered the kids back into the house.” He did not see them again.
Tumblr media
(Nick Redfern) Welcome to Roswell!
More than a decade later, Price received a letter from “an acquaintance” who he had known for some time. Price said: “In the letter he told me that the aliens I was looking for were at Fort Stanton.” For those who may not know, Fort Stanton was a military installation which, during the Second World War, held a number of Japanese “enemy aliens,” and which is barely spitting distance away from the Foster Ranch. We will learn a great deal more about Fort Stanton’s wartime Japanese connections in later chapters – as well as its links to Roswell. In the meantime, back to Price. Price’s source told him that at some undisclosed point, “There were some pretty deformed young men there, several of which could be of alien nature. We only went by what we were told; please don’t tell anyone. Mongoloid large heads, small ears, pin heads who could function and had shrill voices. They were supposed to be of incest, but from their looks – Outa-space.” Price took the story seriously, and mused on the possibility that the government may have grabbed handicapped people who had “no paper trail, no social security number, and no traceable family connections.”
Someone else who suspected that Roswell could be explained in down to earth – rather than alien – fashion was yet another acquaintance of Price. His name was Robert Betz, an engineer who, prior to his retirement, had been contracted to various corporations to perform certain, sensitive work. Price said, “Robert was convinced that the Roswell crash could be explained away as a top secret project of flying saucer design and that the bodies were midgets.” As all of the above shows, the Roswell affair gets darker and more sinister as it goes along.

for: @roswellstarters location: roswell community market
“This might look nice in the living room,” Leo murmured as he inspected a handmade trinket, always attracted to home-y and a little bit kitsch. His reusable bags were already nearly full with his usual produce, and they were old enough to threaten to rip at the seams. But like a little old lady stuck in the body of a 6′1″ man, he can’t resist cute things. Maybe it was a little tacky but it looked like it would fit in with the atmosphere of his home. “Oh, I like you already...”

to all the stars that light the road
For @malex-cupid Day 1: “I just wanted a chance to look at the stars with you.”
2017
“Woah.”
“You like it?” Alex asks and Michael just nods his head, staring at the gorgeous house that Alex brought him to.
“I love it,” Michael breathes out, and he does.
It’s perfect.
It’s almost everything they talked about when they were kids, complete with the courtyard out front. If only it didn’t…
“It needs some work.” Alex breaks his train of thought and Michael nods.
“Not too much.”
“Wait til you see the inside.”
“Well alright Private, show me,” Michael drawls as Alex unlocks the front door.
Alex isn’t lying, it does need work but it’s still gorgeous.
“The work is cosmetic,” Michael tells him.
“You think so?”
“Yeah, unless you need plumbing or electric?”
“No, inspection said they were newer.”
“That’s good,” Michael says quietly as he looks at the kitchen.
A memory hits him of him telling Alex he’d do all the cooking for their little family one day, kids and all. It hurts to think about.
“I definitely want to do some upgrades.” Alex walks around the kitchen and touches the counters lightly.
“Yeah, it’s a little stuck in the nineties,” Michael jokes and Alex smiles at him.
Michael always wants Alex to smile at him.
“I think I can work on it when I’m on leave, and then once I’m out it’ll be a nice project.”
“Yeah,” Michael responds, nodding along as he listens to the changes Alex wants to make to the house.
“I want to keep the architecture and kinda bring it back to life you know?”
“Like a Southwestern vibe?”
“Exactly. You get it,” Alex smiles and Michael gets it,  he does.
Because it’s his dream, too.
“I think some new wood cabinets, a tile backsplash, upgraded counters would do a lot of good in here.”
“And where did you hear that, Guerin?”
“Hey, Isobel’s an event planner.”
Alex raises an eyebrow and Michael is unable to resist.
“Alright so I watch a lot of HGTV, sue me.”
What Michael doesn’t say is that he watches a lot of HGTV while dreaming up a life he could have with Alex. Could’ve already had with Alex if he wasn’t such a fuck up when they were younger.
He shakes out of it as Alex laughs at him, pushing him towards the rest of the house, showing Michael two rooms and two bathrooms, an office, and a decent sized backyard.
Perfect for stargazing.
“Right? That’s what I thought, too.”
Oh.
Michael said that out loud.
“C’mon, I’ll show him the garage. You’ll love it.”
Michael follows.
2018
Michael takes one look at the bathroom and brings the sledgehammer down onto all the hard work he’s done.
The green and blue tiles, the nice brown cabinets, the glass door.
Shattered.
All of it. Like his heart.
His phone buzzes in his pocket but he ignores it, again. It’s Isobel but Michael can’t be bothered. He can’t face her inquisitive stare and know it all looks.
He takes another swing, momentarily pleased when the faucet breaks off from the sink and he uses his powers to fling it farther into the broken shower wall like it’s target practice.
His phone buzzes, again.
“What?” Michael growls into the phone.
“Michael?”
Michael freezes. He knows that voice. A voice that is not Isobel. A voice that has been haunting his dreams since that call…
“Alex?”
“I’m okay.”
Michael drops to the ground, sledge hammer rolling away. He can feel that he’s sitting in glass and bits of wood but he doesn’t care.
“I thought…” Michael chokes down a sob and Alex makes a soothing noise.
“I know, I’m sorry I couldn’t call.”
“That’s okay.”
Alex sucks in a breath and it sounds like he’s crying.
“What is it darling?” Michael let’s the endearment slip in a moment of weakness.
“My leg…I lost my right leg.”
“Alex.” Michael doesn’t really know what to say. His heart aches.
Alex babbles a little bit, pain meds Michael figures. They hang up with Alex telling him he’s being transferred to Roswell from Germany in a couple of months. Michael stands up and looks at the mess he’s made.
He winds the sledgehammer up into the air and swings down on the vanity. Alex will need an accessible bathroom.
He better get to work.
2019
Michael feels awkward. He knows he shouldn’t. But he does. He’s picked Alex up before, driven to meet him in other states, seen where he’s lived through the years.
But this is the first time he’s picked him up on base. Usually Alex will get a friend to drop him off somewhere. But Alex said this time he wanted Michael here.
So, he waits. Cowboy hat low on his head to block the midday sun, jeans slung low on his hips, belt buckle be damned, shirt opened just enough to be indecent.
Michael sees the top of Alex’s head first, then as the other people part, he sees the rest of him, whole, and here.
“Private,” Michael drawls and Alex’s eyes crinkle.
“Michael.”
Michael isn’t sure what he’s supposed to do, just get in the car, hug Alex, grab his bag?
Alex answers that for him by coming closer and hugging him. Michael sinks into his warmth, relishing in the fact that he still gets to have this.
“Glad you’re back.”
“Yeah.”
Michael separates himself from Alex even though he doesn’t want to, but the sooner they get off this base the better.
“Where to?” Michael asks as Alex fiddles with the radio.
“The airstream? I don’t think I can handle an air mattress at the house.” Alex shrugs and groans like he’s thinking of all the work that has to be done at his house.
“Sure, want me to stop for food?”
“Can we wait til Roswell? The Crashdown sounds amazing.”
“Sure.” Michael smiles and points to a bag on the floor with some of Alex’s favorite snacks.
“Oh, thank you.”
Michael chuckles, he figures Alex will eat all the sugary candies he can and then he’ll crash but they’ve got a couple hours drive so that’s okay.
When they finally cross the city limits into Roswell, Alex is out like a light. Michael sneaks into the Crashdown, grabbing Alex’s favorites, and then makes the drive toward Alex’s house.
When Michael finally turns the ignition off Alex starts to stir. Once he wakes fully Michael waits until Alex realizes they’re in his own driveway.
“What? Michael?”
“C’mon, I wanna show you something.”
Alex winces as he gets out of the car and Michael pauses.
“It can wait…”
“No, no, show me, then we can sleep.”
Michael smiles ruefully and then turns the little corner into Alex’s courtyard and watches as Alex takes in the changes.
“What’s all this?” Alex asks as he walks around the chairs and fire pit set up, the café lights, and small bar he made to go with the space.
“Do you like it?”
Alex turns toward him and Michael smiles as he nods his head.
“There’s more, c’mon.”
“Michael…” Alex says a little choked up and Michael ushers his inside, watching as Alex takes it all in.
His relationship with Alex is a fickle thing, similar to the plants that he’s placed throughout the house. It needs nourishment and time to grow, years of patience and dedication.
He’d like to think after over a decade of trying to work on his life with Alex that he would’ve understood every reaction he’d have to someone secretly renovating his home through the last couple of years.
But this, this reaction he wasn’t ready for.
Alex has one hand over his mouth as he stares at the changes. His eyes are shining, happy tears falling over his cheeks.
“Alex?”
“You did all of this?” Alex asks as he takes his hand away from his mouth.
“Yeah, I hope you don’t mind.” Michael shrugs and then suddenly Alex’s lips are on his and Michaels breathing for the first time in years.
When they pull apart they’re both smiling, giggling almost like they’re seventeen again, and Michael’s never been more in love.
“I can’t believe you did all of this, and my stuff...” Alex walks around, seeing his tapestries on the walls, books on the shelves, guitars in the corner. It’s all here.
“I took it out of storage, figured I could get it setup. It’s all done too, so you can sleep in a king sized bed tonight instead of on my crappy mattress.”
“I like that mattress.”
Michael chuckles. “I can change anything you don’t like if - ”
“No. It’s perfect.”
“You haven’t even seen the rooms or the bathrooms yet.”
“I don’t care. It’s perfect Michael. Thank you.”
“‘Course.”
“And the yard?” Alex asks as he walks towards the back door.
“Perfect for stargazing.” Michael comes up next to Alex as he unlocks the door with his powers.
They walk outside.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”

WHAT BETTER WAY TO CELEBRATE THE RENEWAL OF ROSWELL NEW MEXICO FOR SEASON 4 THAN WITH A MALEX FIC! 👏
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
This is all @prouvaireafterdark‘s fault btw. Lynne posted the screenshot of a tweet yesterday:
A few weeks ago, I tried to literally bore my 3yo to sleep by telling him everything I knew about nuclear and particle physics. It's a fair bit, it was my speciality once. Every night since then, as he's falling asleep, his little voice pipes up: "tell me about atoms daddy."
And she captioned the post Tell me these aren’t Michael Guerin dad vibes, I dare you
Well, I started writing what I thought would be a short ficlet in reply to the dare during my lunch break, but somehow there were a couple more words left to write.
So here are 2.3K (PG) words of dads!Malex and their son. The fic’s also been posted to AO3.
~*~
It’s Michael’s turn to go through bedtime routine with Matt. Alex snuggles deeper into the warmth of the colorful throw Rosa gave them for Christmas and listens to his two favorites having a deep discussion about the necessity of flossing in the bathroom.
“Papa said I have milk teeth and that they’ll fall out when I’m older. I don’t need to floss,” Alex hears their three year old argue. He snorts. “They will fall out in about three years, that’s a long time for you to still rely on those milk teeth. Come here, Daddy’s gonna floss with you.” Michael’s reply makes Alex smile. He’s so good with Matt. Always happy to explain things, and answering their son’s million questions with the patience of a saint.
He loves Matt’s intriguing mind and his enthusiastic curiosity, but having to explain the ins and outs of cyber security to a toddler after a long day working on improving other people’s cyber security could be a bit much at times. Alex is just grateful that he gets to relax on the sofa and can leave it to Michael to take care of Matt tonight. He takes a sip from his red wine and closes his eyes. What a beautiful evening, and depending on how fast Matt will fall asleep, he has plans to make out with Michael like in the good old days. Just the two of them, in front of the roaring fire.
When he hears the pitter-patter of tiny naked feet on the hardwood floor, he opens his eyes just in time to see Matt speed around the corner, a huge grin plastered on his face. “Look, Papa, my teeth are clean and Daddy showed me how to floss!” He fletches his teeth at Alex, who leans forward to thoroughly inspect Matt’s teeth.
“Wow, you didn’t miss a spot. Excellent job!” Matt flings himself at Alex and wraps his small arms around Alex’s neck. “Daddy has promised to read me a bedtime story. Do you want to come?” Alex wraps Matt into a tight hug and breathes in his scent. Rain, just like his Daddy. Alex presses a kiss into Matt’s dark curls. “I’m a bit tired tonight, Matt, is it okay if I stay on the couch?”
“You stay on the couch and relax, Papa, Daddy and I can handle bringing me to bed.” Alex has a hard time keeping a straight face. “I’m so glad to hear that. Sweet dreams, sweetheart, I can’t wait to see you tomorrow morning.” Matt plasters a flurry of wet kisses all over Alex’s face. “Me, too, Papa. Goodnight!”
He lets go of Alex, and storms out of the living room, passing Michael on his way out, who’s leaning against the door frame. “I won’t take long, we agreed on one bedtime story and me telling him something about the stars. That should put him to sleep quickly. Prepare to be ravished when I come back.” He throws a kiss at Alex who pretends to catch it. “I’m counting on it. I have plans. Wicked plans. I’m in dire need of a mind-blowing orgasm. You up for that?”
Michael pretends to adjust his jeans. “Not yet, but I’ll be, no worries. I’ll blow your mind, and if you’re asking nicely, also your dick,” he smirks. Alex laughs. “My husband’s a sweet talker. Go, get our kid to sleep, and then come back to me. I love you.”
Michael’s wicked smile turned soft. “I love you, too. I hope it won’t take longer than 20 minutes.” He turns around and leaves, the living room door falling shut behind him without Michael touching it. “Showoff,” Alex murmurs fondly, then he wraps himself up in the blanket again and allows himself to drift off for a nap until Michael’s return.
~*~
“Hey, sleepyhead, you still up for that mind-blowing orgasm?” Michael whispers into Alex’s ear almost an hour later. Alex feels Michael’s lips nibble along the sensitive shell of his ear. “Wh—whaaat? How long was I out? Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?”
Michael laughs. “Because we have the most inquisitive kid, who wouldn’t let me drone on about astrophysics as a means to bore him to sleep. Instead he thought it was a lesson and he kept asking questions. Dear god, what did we get ourselves into with him?” Michael rubs at his eyes. “He shouldn’t even be able to understand what I’m talking about, that didn’t keep him from asking questions, though.”
“Don’t look at me, I’m not the one with the genius brain who’s literally from another planet. He can’t have it from me,” Alex jokes. But Michael isn’t having any of it. “You’re the smartest man I know. You’ve hacked into NASA secret servers to get a blue print for me. There are very few people on this planet who’d be able to pull that off, and I’m certainly not one of them. He clearly has it from both of us, his current interest is just focused on asteroids and black holes.”
Alex pulls himself up into a sitting position. “Well, I feel quite refreshed and still very, very horny. What do you think about going to bed and working on those mind-blowing orgasms there? I just really want to fall asleep right after in your arms.”
Michael takes the blanket, folds it and puts it down on the couch. Then he offers Alex his hand and slowly pulls him into a standing position and into his arms. He presses his crotch against Alex’s, his dick already getting hard. “I’m very much up for your suggestion.”
~*~
Three weeks later, Alex returns home late after a meeting with a client that went on much longer than he would’ve preferred. The project will earn him a small fortune, though, so he didn’t feel like cutting things short. He takes off his jacket and washes his hands in the kitchen. He grabs a water bottle from the fridge and guzzles half of it down. The long drive back from Albuquerque’s made him thirsty, but he didn’t want to stop for water on his way home. When he hears voices coming from Matt’s room, he smiles.
Alex places the half-empty water bottle on the dining table on his way to Matt’s room. Matt and Michael look up from the book they’re reading (a story about the Milky Way) when he enters, and his heart grows at least five sizes in that moment. Matt may have his complexion and dark hair, but he has Michael’s curls and nose, and they look so much alike, Alex can barely handle the amount of love flooding him.
“Papa, Papa, you are back. I’ve missed you!” Matt scrambles up from the comfortable position in Michael’s lap to stand up, his arms reaching for Alex. When he’s close enough, Matt flings himself into Alex’s arms, and he’s glad that he expected this to happen, or else he might not have been able to catch Matt without stumbling.
He’s still grateful for the invisible force of Michael’s telekinesis steadying him. He keeps standing and holds Matt in his arms, while Matt tells him everything about the exciting day he had at kindergarten. Michael gets up from the bed and kisses Alex’s temple softly before he joins the family hug.
This, this is how Alex hopes it will always be. The three of them, a loving unit. Matt’s running out of things to tell eventually, that’s when Michael scoops him up in his arms. “Come on, buddy, your Papa had a really long day and he looks like he could use a break.” He turns to Alex. “Have you eaten yet?”
Alex shakes his head. “No, they served coffee and cookies during the meeting, but I could eat something more substantial. Like you said, it’s been a really long day, but I booked the job.” Michael’s face lights up. “Alex, that’s amazing. I knew you’d ace the meeting. I’m so proud of you!”
“I’m proud too, Papa,” Matt crows. Alex smiles. “Thanks, sweetheart. I’ll go to the kitchen and see what I can throw together real quick, I’m not really in the mood for cooking. Are you two good to do the bedtime routine on your own?”
Michael nods. “There’s leftover casserole in the fridge, ready to be warmed up. We’re almost finished here, I’ll join you when Matt’s asleep.” Michael leans forward and kisses Alex. Matt hooks his arms around Alex’s neck from his position and presses a wet kiss to Alex’s cheek. “Goodnight, dearest Papa. You did good today, I love you.”
Alex is ready to melt into a puddle right there and then. “Oh sweetheart, that means so much to me. Thank you. And I know you’ll be a good boy for Daddy and go to sleep without making a fuss now. Goodnight, sleep tight, and“ “Don’t let the bed bugs bite,” Matt finishes the sentence. He giggles. “Goodnight, Papa.”
Michael kisses Alex. “Go, eat, I’ll join you shortly. Love you.” Alex tousles Matt’s and Michael’s curls. “Love you both so much!” With that he turns around and leaves for the kitchen. The last thing he hears Matt ask is “Tell me about atoms, Daddy."
~*~
20 years later
It’s a beautiful and sunny day in Massachusetts when Matthew Norman Guerin, an athletic young man with a wide smile and unruly dark curls walks up to the podium at MIT to give this year’s graduation speech. He doesn’t have a script (he doesn’t need one, he’s memorized the speech days ago), but his eyes search the front row until his face lights up and he smiles.
There they are, his papa, Alex Guerin, a dark haired man with attractive graying temples, and his dad, Professor Michael Guerin, sporting honey golden curls that look so much like Matt’s. His parents are holding hands and look up to the podium with such love and pride in their eyes, Matt has to swallow around a huge lump in his throat.
He clears his throat. “Before I begin my speech, please allow me to tell you something about myself and the two extraordinary people who raised me. It all started about twenty years ago, when my dad would try to lull me to sleep by telling me fascinating details about space and the universe that should’ve gone way over my head. I was only three years old at the time, and yet there was something about the things he told me, that intrigued and excited me. Instead of falling asleep, I kept asking him questions for almost an hour, and he answered them all.”
Matt runs his hand through his hair, a gesture that is so typical Michael, Alex can’t help but smile. Matt continues. “Both my parents have always answered all my questions. And if they didn’t know the answer, we’d look for an answer online, or call my aunt Liz. My family instilled this huge hunger for knowledge in me, and the excitement to do research. I wouldn’t be standing here in front of you without them, and I certainly wouldn’t have been offered a job with the NASA Deep Space program, if it wasn’t for them.”
Out of the corner of his eyes, Alex notices the tears pooling in Michael’s eyes and he squeezes his hand. Michael squeezes back. “Dad, Papa, I’d like to thank you, for everything you’ve done for me. Thank you for always answering my questions, for giving me access to knowledge, for encouraging me to search for answers. I couldn’t have done most of what I’ve achieved in my life without your love and support. I love you.”
The crowd around Alex and Michael erupts into applause. They both have tears running down their faces now, but they don’t mind. This is such an important day, and their boy is up there, best of his class, a bright future ahead of him. Alex leans over and kisses Michael softly on the cheek.
Later, when all the speeches are over and every student has received their diploma, Matt finds his parents in the crowd. His entire family’s in attendance, his grandma, Liz and Max, Isobel and Greg, and all his cousins. But Matt only has eyes for his fathers. He walks up to them - he’s taller than both of them “he’s got that from me,” Greg likes to claim - and wraps his arms around their shoulders.
Alex and Michael close the circle by hugging each other, and for a long moment it’s only the three of them. “I love you, Dad and Papa. Thanks for everything,” Matt says in a hushed voice. “We love you, too, Matt. And we are so proud of you. Thanks for being the best son we could’ve possibly asked for,” Alex says. One final squeeze, and then Matt’s swept up in hugs and congratulations from the rest of the family.
Alex and Michael stay where they are, arms wrapped around each other. “His existence alone is an absolute miracle, a kid carrying both our genes, but this day is up in my top five moments for sure,” Alex says, keeping his voice low. This is for Michael’s ears only. Michael nods. “Yeah, I think our first time, our wedding, and his birth are higher up on my list of favorite memories, but today’s a great day for sure. We did an amazing job with him.”
“I’m so proud of him, and I’m proud of us, Michael. And I love you more than words can say. Thanks for going on this adventure called life and raising our son with me.” Michael smiles and pulls their clasped hand to his lips and kisses the back of Alex’s hand. “I love you, too,” he whispers. “And I have every intention to show you later in our hotel room.” Alex laughs. “You are impossible, Michael Guerin. But yes, please do, I’ll never get tired of you showing me all the million ways you love me.”
And with that, they join the others in celebrating their son.
