holy moments

i’m taking an intro to philosophy course this semester, and this week i was just exposed to the idea of a holy moment. my prof put on this sundance film from 2001 called ‘waking life,’ wherein the protagonist wanders in and out of dreaming and has multiple philosophical conversations with different characters about the nature of dreams and reality. in one particular scene, a gentleman brings up the concept of a holy moment.

holy moments are hard to explain. essentially, they are moments where the observer is so present, they sense the weight of the moment they are in - even in seemingly unimportant places. they look into the eyes of another and deeply realize the value of that human being, or they take an extra moment after getting off the bus to observe all the activity in the intersection, or they wander into nature and become engrossed in the beauty of Creator Yahweh revealed in His creation. holy moments are periods of time when you are aware of the way the Maker created all things good and is buying everything back, redeeming all things to their former state. holy moments are powerful.

the goal of this blog is not necessarily to create a holy moment for you with its content. however, i hope it serves as an encouragement and a reminder that there are evidences of Papa’s holiness everywhere you go. seek to be present enough to notice & thank Him for it all.
