BIOGRAPHY
Daughter of Lauren Bixby and [insert unknown and absent father]
Her mother burned up pretty fast in town. Graduated high school pregnant, had June, went through several jobs and boyfriends. Eventually dumped June off at her grandmother’s doorstep like a package delivery and drove off. For a few years she would send birthday cards but they all dried up by the time June turned thirteen. Currently MIA though June suspects she’s probably ended up as some Jane Doe in a morgue in Vegas or something other.
With that kind of notoriety on her head June didn’t exactly rise to the top of her school’s social stratosphere. She was a cynic from day one, a little too observant for her own good, and already on track to become a train wreck. Her grandmother tried her best. She took June to church every Sunday, enrolled her in catholic school. (The first of June’s expulsions. This one for fighting) But she was fighting a losing battle to breast cancer.
By fourteen June was drinking, by fifteen smoking, and by sixteen she was getting her hands on pills. Adderall, molly, opioids she wasn’t exactly the picky kind. She began taking bits of cash from her grams wallet to pay for it. (One of the many, many, many things she is still dealing with regret for)
When she started public high school, she was thrown back into the loop with the people she’d gone to elementary school with. She knew of Sara, remembered her, but definitely wasn’t friendly with her. More likely she flew under Sara’s expansive radar.
Her grandmother passed when June was seventeen. Just about a month after June was thrown out for bringing drugs onto school grounds. The family Victorian they lived in was sold to pay her medical debts and June was effectively homeless.
This was when she fell in with the shelter community. She found herself odd jobs around town working as a sales associate, car washer, or pool cleaner. For some time she was able to keep her head afloat.
It wasn’t until then that she really knew Sara. They were brought together by Oliver often on the very edges of town where no one would be looking for them. In the fields, under an overpass. There would be pizza, and beer, and often a lugged over boombox. And then they would start talking.
She wouldn’t call herself any kind of support for Sara considering her own messed up life, but in any case she found herself actually liking her a bit. (And Sara’s friend Clover more than a bit) It was refreshing to realize that the whole town was fucked up, not just her.
And then Prom Night hit on the one year anniversary of her grandmother’s death. June popped pills and drank until everything went black. She woke up in a hospital some time later after having her stomach pumped and with the news of Sara’s disappearance. And she knew immediately that the girl wasn’t missing, or hadn’t fled, she was dead.
For the next seven years she had a rough go at it. Stretches of time when she was sober, followed by a relapse. She tended to bottle up her anger and force it toward things like activism. That’s how she bumped into Wren.
She is currently three years sober, living in a one bedroom apartment in Holyoake, and working as a waitress. She has a burning desire to leave Holyoake in her taillights and move to Seattle or California, or really the middle of the ocean. Anywhere but this town.
She lives with a cat named Crusty that she found in a dumpster. He’s her sobriety coach.
Those close to her tend to call her Bixby or Bix for short.
THREE DEVELOPMENTS/PLOTS YOU'D LIKE TO TAKE YOUR CHARACTER IN
The Anchor- I’d love for her to find something in the town that actually kind of makes her want to stay. (Maybe someone) She hates Holyoake and it’s facade so much but in the end this is the town that made her who she is. When she thinks of saving up and packing her bags though it’d be wonderful to picture that one thing that makes her want to stay.
Home- June’s family’s home is in line to be demolished shortly and turned into a park. She absolutely fucking hates this. This is probably in line with something Sebastian’s business would be doing and I can see her wanting to turn on the activist spirit and stop her one and only home from being destroyed. Maybe even find a way to bring it back under her possession.
Missing hours- June has no idea what the hell she was doing the night Sara died. She knew from getting her stomach pumped that she’d practically overdosed herself on pills and alcohol but the actual act is lost to her. She wants to figure out where she was, who she was with, and what the hell happened.
THREE CONNECTIONS YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE this is in addition to the three on the skeleton
Wren- Can I have activist sisters please and thank you?! Just them teaming up to make Sebastian’s life a living nightmare. What a dream.
Autumn- Double shift, working for a living woman. As someone who doesn’t even give the fact that she’s bisexual a second thought, I think there would be some really interesting interactions. They can bond over their mutual crushes.
Logan- I imagine in the past decade of odd and end jobs that June has probably run into and worked for Logan at different times. Maybe he’s a good influence, maybe not so much. I’d like to think that they hold the same offbeat kind of feeling where they don’t belong to any group in town or fit into the social norms.
