Summary: Barry had the worst luck. All he’d wanted to do was ask Snart for a favour but, somehow, he’d stumbled his way into a Rogues meeting. Now he found himself stuck in a bar, surrounded by his enemies, with Captain Cold of all people as his only friend. What could go wrong? Len knew the second that he saw Lisa approach what she would think; Barry was just too open, too caring, too tactile. And Len was letting him get away with it all. He knew what that would look like; but he also knew that going along with this little lie, letting his Rogues all believe that he and Barry were dating – no matter how absurd that idea might be – was the best way of getting Barry out of there with his secret identity unscathed… So, the Rogues were drinking with The Flashtonight. No big deal. When it suddenly became a regular occurrence, however… well, that's when things started getting a little more complicated.

Oh man, so many! I re-read fics a lot, which is weird for me because I hate re-reading books, haha. My favorite fic to re-read is probably The Color of Love by @crimsondomingo, and of course any and all @moriavis fics.

Tbh when I’m having a really bad day I don’t usually read fic at all, but recently I did start reading Just Friends by @holycafe and it’s such a delightful read! You really can’t help but smile at the shenanigan.

Ooh, good question. I’m not actually subscribed to a ton of fics because I keep forgetting to do it XD The last one I subscribed to was This Is What You Came For by alex_jude because I thought the concept was very intriguing (they’ve been putting the rest of us to shame—well okay mostly me—by updating almost daily!) I’m also always psyched to get emails about like a damaged nerve, like a dark bird by @coldflasher (an amazing Time Traveller’s Wife-inspired Coldflash fic, 100% recommend) and also from @softboydepot (author subscription, not any particular fic. It’s all great!)

Tumbling Together by RedHead - Barry discovers his new neighbor is Leonard Snart and somehow winds up in the position of fake dating his nemesis. And of course catching feelings - on both sides - complicates everything all the more.

This is one of my favorite ColdFlash fics and the hijinks are hilarious. Has a bit of a crack treated seriously feel to it at times, which is part of why I enjoy it so much. It is a long fic, so be prepared to fight the urge to stay up until 3AM to finish this thing.

🤩 A fic that made you SLAM that “subscribe” button

Unexpected Development by nirejeski - When Len learns there's a plan in place to blow up some of Central City's busiest roads during rush hour, there's really nothing for it but to escape custody with Mick and take the cute CSI sent to finger print them for leverage. Involves secretly-a-hero-but-will-never-admit-it Len, unionized hookers, and Mick figuring out Barry's the Flash because the butts match. It's, sadly, unfinished, but such a hilarious and well written fic that I wind up re-reading it frequently anyway. Definitely remember hitting the end of the first chapter and immediately smacking the subscribe button upon landing on chapter two.

Pretty sure this is where I got my tendency to refer to Eobard's Reverse Flash suit as the banana suit from. *snicker*

💘 A fic you couldn't stop reading once you started

Just Friends by Thundersnow (HolyCafe) - A mistaken for dating ColdFlash fic that is really adorable. Every time I re-read this it's very much a can't put it down, must fight the urge to keep reading until the early hours of the morning type fic for me.

It's not quite finished, but it's only three chapters shy of the planned ending, so I hold out hope despite the last update being 2021.

(I really should go through and re-read all of these again...)

Upon reading your ask, I reflected on how I got into the Sterek fandom in the first place, and wow what a nice journey down the memory lane!!

Short answer to how I can enjoy a ship if I didn't see the show?

COLDFLASH.

The longer version of my babbling is under the cut, and so very sorry about that, coudn't help myself! :D

In case you don't know about the Coldflash ship, Anon, just a quick word. Tis the hero/villain ship from the Flash tv-show, aka Barry Allen/Leonard Snart.

THEM:

I started following this ig account ss.sterek [@holycafe if I'm not mistaken], liking all the coldflash posts, then getting curious about their other posts as well.

This is how Sterek came to be.

At first, it was a polite indifference, but the more I saw the sterek posts the more it got interesting to me, until one day I started searching for any Sterek content.

Until I started searching for any content on Tumblr, specifically.

Until I liked so many incorrect quotes and crack posts about this so-called Sourwolf and Spaz.

At some point their dynamic became SO addicting, I decided to start reading fics.

Did I understand any of the mentionned canon? Heck no.

(The Teen Wolf Wiki Page was a huge help in that regard, explaining to me what a kanima or a nogitsune was for example.)

Still, I remember the first fics I read were about Stiles being Pack Mom to the Wonder betas!! =D

Also fics closely (ish) related to canon...So yeah they always referred to stuff happening in the show that I usually didn't get...

With patience, some research, and LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF FICS, I began grasping things and characters surrounding the Sterek pair.

So I may not know about the Derek and the Stiles from the show, but I know of the fandom version of them.

Beleive me, it puzzled me how big it got to me. (BUT I'M LOVING IT!)

Like I probably have 2,000 bookmarked Sterek fics on AO3 plus the ones I've yet to read on my marked-for-later and the other ones I read without bookmarking them (rookie mistake xD).

I think the writers and the Sterek content creators have taken the grumpy-sunshiny & dry-sarcastic dynamics and wrote....how to say it? almost different characters than from the show? To the point I didn't need the show to understand them.

Nor did I wish to.

Actually, I tried watching after S06 got out, but didn't last more than 15 min maybe? My brain was too wired up on the Sterek vibe to fully appreciate the show. (Maybe my teenage ass would have liked it... But as I was watching soooo maaaaany tv-shows already, it was impossible to start watching Teen Wolf, and when I first heard of Sterek I was at Uni and really didn't have the time - But OH LORD THE NUMBER OF FICS I READ... My life saver to countless sleepless nights unable to close my eyes xD)

I've only watch THE famous Sterek Supercut!!!! :D <3

What made you ship it?

I think Tumblr did, actually! I wasn't following the Arrowverse when I came upon GIF sets on my dash that made me go !!!!! because the flirty-enemies-who-sometimes-work-together dynamic is right up my alley and they look so good together. Then I read some fic (I think @coldtomyflash's stories were among the first I read), which got me from being mildly intrigued to being fully on board the Coldflash train (heh. train!). I only started watching the show fairly late, and I started with the Captain Cold episodes only before I finally gave the whole thing I try.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

The banter! The puns! Barry trying and failing not to be charmed by Leonard! Leonard trying and failing not to have a soft spot for Barry! That despite the fact that Leonard did actively try to kill Barry early on and stabbed him in the back later during their team-up, there's still respect and some level of trust between them. And "Infantino Street" will forever hold a place in my heart! Barry basically just went and stole Leonard from the past so he could have a kind of goodbye. 🥺

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Ha, yes, I think this is unpopular: I'm not super fond of Barry calling Leonard "Len". I know it's a comics thing, but for the Arrowverse version, I prefer it when he goes from "Snart" to "Leonard" (and I especially like that moment when Barry realizes that he's mentally shifted to thinking of Snart by his first name 😍).

1. Do you make your bed?

Nope. I dropped making my bed as soon as my mom moved out. Maybe even before that. I sleep on two blankets and under a blanket. It’s just easier. And I toss a lot in my sleep and shits were always on the floor in the morning anyway. So I just stopped wasting my time and energy on making bed 

2. Favorite number?

I consider 666 and 13 lucky ones. And have a soft spot for 6 and 9

3. What’s your job?

Post office. Night shifts. Salary sucks but it’s like two steps from my apartment and I spend most of the shift alone there  

4. If you could go back to school would you?

Honestly? No. I’m too anxious to go back to learning. I dropped out the first time around. And I don’t really have passion for any subject to put myself through this kind of struggle. If I ever find something worth it maybe, but for now no      

5. Can you parallel park?

Nope, I’ve never learned how to drive

6. Do you think aliens are real?

I don’t have a strong opinion. But with the size of the Universe? I thinks that’s quite a possibility 

7. Can you drive a manual car?

Nope, I’ve never learned how to drive

8. What’s your guilty pleasure?

Hmm, Catwoman (2004) and other movies/shows I love but they are considered bad. And yeah, I know that catwoman is bad. But Halle Berry is so beautiful! And I have working eyes! (A Beginner's Guide to Endings on the other hand rated like 6 on imdb. I? I unironically think it’s a masterpiece) 

9. Tattoos?

Yep! I have four for now: snake biting its tail on my right ankle (it goes around the ankle like a bracelet);  flying crow on my right hand below the elbow; mass effect inspired geth crawling on my left shoulder and lightning and snowflakes (if you’re thinking it was inspired by ship you are right) all over my left hand below the elbow. Lightning goes on my palm and point finger. If I have more ‘spare’ money… I’ll get some more. I have ideas and places. 

10. Favorite color?

Purple since I fell in love with hawkeye. And it was black for the most of my life. I still love black. 

11. Favorite type of music?

Rock. Or metal? Or hard rock? I never thought too much about the types. So lets say rock. All the rock 

12. Do you like puzzles?

Kinda? I like them but they are usually very hard for me to solve. And I hate feeling stupid. I like idea but rarely try to really solve them

13. Any phobia?

Insectophobia. I can’t even go near some bugs. Just nope. I once almost jumped under the car to avoid a bug 

14. Favorite childhood sport?

Badminton. We never played by any rules. Just ‘do everything you can to keep the shuttlecock in the air’. And I was good at it. At school we once played with tennis rackets for almost two hours. Good times  

15. Do you talk to your self?

All the time xD Sometimes aloud. “You are a strong capable woman you CAN STOP READING AND FINISH THIS” can be heard every shift from me to me. Luckily I’m the only one hearing this xD 

16. What movies do you adore?

Wrath of Man and Pacific Rim and all Resident Evil movies (with Milla Jovovich) and 10 Things I Hate About You and Bring It On and MASH and From Dusk Till Dawn are my comfort movies/shows. I love the Critters trilogy. I love the new Star Trek trilogy. Nightmare on Elm Street (old ones). The Gentlemen. Old Guard. Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV (I rewatched it like four times in a row). The Suicide Squad. The Boondock Saints. Ten Inch Hero. Drive Angry… Well. Like. I have weird taste in movies I guess? (I’ve mentioned only movies I saw more than 5 times)    

17. Coffee or tea?

Coffee. I can't find balance with tea. It’s either tasteless or makes me sick because it’s too strong. Coffee I can drink non stop. Hot and cold, instant and beans. I love the bitter taste of coffee.   

18. First thing you wanted to be growing up

Veterinarian, I think. I always loved animals and thought that being the one to heal them is the best career ever
