Floating World Comics @floatingworldcomics will be hosting a special screening of Tim Burton’s 1989 classic, BATMAN, at the Hollywood Theater @hollywoodtheatr on September 14th at 7:30pm!

Hosted by Sam Ashurst @samashurst23 of the Arrow Video podcast, Floating World will be on site to recommend a bunch of cool comic books, with a curated selection of the best Batman graphic novels. Josh Simmons’ @joshuahallsimmons and me we’ll be there selling some of the last copies of our hardcover edition of Dream of the Bat (it just recently went out of print) along with our other bat goodies!

Before the movie, catch Josh’s Dream of the Bat music video he made up on the big screen!!!

So pull on your purple suit / rubber mask, huff some Smylex, jump into your nearest Batmobile, and join us for a comic-book party(man) like no other!

Slightly belated post, but on Sunday I had the privilege of attending @animayhem_pdx over at the @hollywoodtheatr ! Animayhem is an annual film festival hosted in Portland that showcases a variety of different anime OVAs (Original Video Animation). Sometimes they’re linked a particular series, sometimes they’re just standalone originals. The films that were played that night were Cat Soup, Leda: The Fantastic Adventure of Yohko, Dragon Half, and Amon: The Apocalypse of Devilman.

Before the film screening took place, there was a mini artist alley located in the theater’s lobby. There a bunch of local vendors sold various anime themed art and merch for about two hours before the show. I picked up a retro anime zine called “Animerica” before I got some popcorn.

I love capturing old buildings... The Hollywood Theatre is a historic movie theater at 4122 NE Sandy Blvd in the central historical point of the Hollywood District in northeast Portland, Oregon. Commissioned by Jensen and Herberg, architects John Virginius Bennes and Harry A.
