i love hollow knight ships bc like. at least with my favourite ones theres nothing in game that says they are even aware of the others existence. like… sure maybe emilitia could have visited the pleasure house and heard marissa sing while she was still alive. maybe pale lurker and god tamer could have known one another before pale lurker went insane and went into hiding. maybe quirrel tried to sell lemm interesting items he found on his quest. idk nothing in game says they know anything about the other but like i could also be entirely wrong in everything and mossbag will disembowel me in my sleep

great knights headcanons

• Ze'mer's hair grows very fast, and she has to cut it regularly. When she has it cut she has it repurposed to make wigs out of. (It seems Wigs were very popular in the city, especially amongst the wealthy.)

• Ze'mer loves to tell stories of her homeland, and come up with stories and poems of her own. She is usually very private, but among her close friends, she is open and always has tales to tell.

• Hegemol personally trained the watcher knights.

• Hegemol is a favorite amongst the citizens of the kingdom, especially within the city.

• The white lady gifted the knights their own private garden/rest area on the palace grounds (as 4/5ths of them have a connection to plant & nature.)

• the great knights did assist in training the Hollow knight. Hollow became especially fond of Isma (known as the kindest of the knights for a reason.)

• Hollow's fighting style and tactics are most similar to Dryya's and then Ze'mers.

• Dryya is a half root and the niece of the white lady. She was sent to live with the white lady and become a knight when she was very young.

• Also the age order of the knights is Hegemol the oldest then Dryya, Ze'mer, Isma, and Ogrim is the youngest.

• Hegemol helped train most of the other great knights, and he is like an older brother figure to them all.

• Ogrim was the last to join the ranks of the great knights and still feels the need to live up to his title and impress the king/the other knights.

• Ogrim was definitely in love with Isma, and she returned the feelings, neither wanted to act on them though until after the infection was sealed and the kingdom was stable once more (which never actually happened..)

• We joke that Isma was created as part of the Hallownest Greenpath knight exchange. She was a gift from Unn to Hallownest and no eyes (who we named Ida haha) was Hallownests gift to Greenpath.

• Also the battle of the black wyrm that Ogrim was a part of, is named after a place, not a person. The black wyrm is an old Hallownest fortress made out of the body of a Wyrm that died there hundreds of years before Ogrim was born. (The fortress is what later becomes the colluseum of fools.)

Bonus pale lurker hc!

• Pale lurker used to be the captain keeper of the black wyrm fortress. When lord fool and his followers took over the fort she was the last of the guards to survive, a very powerful warrior. Lord fool was impressed by her strength and kept her alive as prisoner and forced her to fight in the ring until she was driven to madness. (The simple key she protects she believes is the key to the fort, which it isn't but she is still attached to her old position and still loyal to the king)
