Norwell a launch pad for cars and books Cars: Various Circuit: Norwell Motorplex, Queensland (2.1km)   With its seven, mostly tight, turns and just 2.1km to a lap, the Norwell Motorplex circuit lacks the warp speed-like iconic Mt Panorama or Phillip Island. But from where I sit, inside one of Red Bull Racing Australia’s all-conquering Holden Commodore VF supercars normally driven by seven-times champion Jamie Whincup – it has my full attention.  We brake for one of the 2nd gear corners with such force that the sunglasses threaten […] https://cars4starters.com.au/norwell-a-launch-pad-for-cars-and-books/?feed_id=29331&_unique_id=658108dad7410

F1 star Aussie Valtteri Bottas unleashes his inner bogan by doing circle work in a V8 Supercar
F1 star and honorary Aussie Valtteri Bottas unleashes his inner bogan by doing circle work in a Bathurst 1000-winning V8 Supercar ahead of Melbourne Grand Prix By Dan Cancian For Daily Mail Australia Published: 07:19 EDT, 27 March 2023 | Updated: 07:19 EDT, 27 March 2023 Valtteri Bottas has taken his appreciation for all things Australian to a new level by becoming the latest Formula 1 driver to take a V8 Supercar for a spin. From sporting a mullet to drinking VB in a singlet, the Finnish wears his love for Australia proudly on his sleeve so the sight of him behind the steering wheel of a Bathurst 1000 winner seems a logical next step. Bottas, who won the 2019 Australian Grand Prix, was a special guest at the annual Adelaide Motorsport Festival and drove the Holden Commodore around South Australia’s former Formula One and current V8 Supercars circuit. The former Mercedes driver took to the track in a Holden VF Commodore V8 Supercar – the same car which won the 2016 Bathurst 1000 with Will Davison and Jono Webb at the wheel - performing a donut on the front straight in front of the crowd. While Bottas cameo was an exhibition, footage from inside the cockpit shows the Formula 1 veteran is not afraid to put his foot down on the gas, despite slippery conditions on the track and his unfamiliarity with the car. Valtteri Bottas was a special guest at the annual Adelaide Motorsport Festival this weekend The Formula 1 star drove the Holden Commodore around South Australia’s former Formula One and current V8 Supercars circuit The 33-year-old also drove an Alfa Romeo GTV, previously driven by 1980 Formula 1 champion Alan Jones and three-times Bathurst 1000 winner Colin Bond.  Bottas is not the first Formula 1 driver to get behind the wheel of a V8 Supercar. Last year, two-time world champion Fernando Alonso and Red Bull star Sergio Perez put in a few laps with V8 racers before the Australian Grand Prix, while Daniel Ricciardo tested a Ford Mustang V8 Supercar in Michigan last month. The Alfa Romeo driver has developed into something of a cult hero in Australia after spending most of the summer in Australia with girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell. And to fit in with his new surroundings, Bottas has even taken a trip to the hairdressers to sport an impeccable Aussie mullet. In a video he shared on social media in December, Bottas explained to Cromwell how he felt he didn't fit in the country. As Cromwell asks him how he plans to change that, the nine-time Grand Prix winner cryptically replies: 'You'll see'.  Bottas delighted the crowed by performing a donut on the front straight in front of the fans Bottas has developed into something of a cult hero in Australia after spending most of the summer in Australia with girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell  In December, the Finnish revealed a brand new mullet while drinking a bottle of VB in a bid to 'fit in' better in his new surroundings in Australia   The 33-year-old won the 2019 Australian Grand Prix with Mercedes and has finished in the points in each of his last four starts in Melbourne  The video then cuts to Bottas walking into a hairdresser and undertaking a rather drastic haircut, with the former Mercedes driver coming out of it with a mullet. In true Australian style, he is spun around on his chair and Bottas is wearing a Victoria Bitter lager vest, and drinking a bottle of VB. Bottas has endured a mixed start to the season, with an eighth place finish in the opening race in Bahrain followed by a disappointed showing in Saudi Arabia, where he finished 18th. The Finnish will be hoping for better luck in Melbourne, where he's finished in the points in his last four starts.   Share or comment on this article: F1 star Aussie Valtteri Bottas unleashes his inner bogan by doing circle work in a V8 Supercar via Formula One | Mail Online https://www.dailymail.co.uk?ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490&ito=1490

Holden VF SSV Ute, 2017. This year saw the final end of car manufacturing in Australia, the Holden Commodore is to be replaced by a version of the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport in saloon and Sport Tourer versions but the saloon-based ute is dead for good
