Nemesis Games - James S. A. Corey (2015)
#james s.a. corey#nemesis games#the expanse#the expanse books#ok this one is impossible not to compare to the tv show#s05 was so bleak#and probably my least favorite season#and this book follows (mostly) the same story but it's not as bleak and it's definitely a good book#and i think the main issue here is that it's really really difficult to adapt books that have such a strong emphasis on the internal state#holden spends most of the book missing his crew in incredibly sappy (affectionate) ways#alex is pretty much the same and i was NOT expecting it!#naomi and amos are of course in more dire situations but still their mind keeps going back to their little family in different ways#the love was SO STRONG during this entire book that even in the worst moments it never felt as hopeless as the show#books 2024#i just want a tag for the things i personally put out into the world
