But bc during the 16th century there were so many infectious diseases that could affect the heart and blood vessels. Tuberculosis, Syphilis, Rheumatic Fever… Any one of these can damage the heart and blood vessels on their own, but add to that having already weak vessels and tissues and greater potential autoimmune activation, and dire complications become that much more likely
